Joe Cleen is back with another slab of Disco Heaters! The Berlin native has had a handful of classic releases on SB that never leave DJs' record bags and we're treated to yet another collection that'll be just as essential.

As ever with Joe this knockout selection of tracks blurs the lines between edits and full reworks. A globetrotting affair with tracks from Korea, US & Canada... Mr Cleen is not holding back on the D.I.S.C.O factor with this vital 12”.

Partnering with French label Heavenly Sweetness, Razor-N-Tape delivers the first in a series of EPs by the Brooklyn band Underground System. Showcasing the group’s dynamic global sound, the three original songs of the ‘Into The Fire EP’ range from the Afrobeat-meets-indie-disco vibe of the title track, to the raucous and instant earworm bounce of He Said, She Said, and the smolderingly sultry Desnuda.

On the B side the original material gets some heavy DJ-friendly reimagining by Detroit legend Andrés, and French don Yuksek, making this 12” both a proud musical manifesto of the new artist-centered direction of RNT, as well as a knowing nod to the label’s devoted fans on the dancefloor.

Lisztomania has gained a strong reputation for their well-curated releases in both digital and vinyl formats. Their latest offering "Listolove Vol. 1" is a love-themed compilation expertly curated and mixed to create a seamless and cohesive underground house music listening experience. Diverse like a group of characters from eye-catching genius artwork "Listolove Vol. 1" features and each artist brings their own unique flavor and style to the mix. With its rich sonic tapestry, this compilation is sure to be a hit with any house music fan!
The A Side of this compilation kicks off with Jeff The Fool's "Don't Be Blue" a mellow track that effortlessly blends smooth vocals, jazz soul elements and a solid drum groove. Next up Jerk Boy brings the disco-loving house floors to life with "All My Love" featuring mystikal, jazzy tones and emotive pitched vocal cuts.
The concluding track on Side A, "The Way You Give" weaves together the distinctive sound of dusty, sampled house music, creating a hypnotic experience that's sure to draw you in. Flip the record over to the B Side, where you'll find a more modern sound with brighter tones and punchy beats. Swales sets a '90s tone with "Love Song" incorporating classic elements like grand piano and legato strings to build energy and anticipation. Colau, an Argentinian producer, provides a fresh perspective on the legendary "Fall In Love" with more contemporary beats and pulsating basslines. Finally, Wurzeholtz's "You" is a low-slung house music track that's decorated with beautifully crafted atmospheres and a perfectly complementing synt and bassline.

The Owl & Posse EP brings together several artists on one fresh 12" that explores many Leftfield disco sounds and adjacent grooves. Pete Le Freq opens things up with the vocal-infused disco-funk of 'The Way Down' complete with splashy cymbals and elastic bass. The Owl's 'JBs Funk' is a horn-led jam that draws its samples from James Brown and Fingerman & Chewy Rubs's 'Revolution NY' has some big synth strings and unifying vocal calls over a nice organic rhythm. Monsieur Van Pratt's 'Guaranteed' is a pure good time groove with joy in its bones and soul in the lung-busting diva vocals.

Absolutely essential funk-fuelled, disco flavoured business from Le'O Roy with ‘Pound For Pound’ on the mighty Golden Flamingo Records. Produced by Bobby Brinson, and P&P’s very own Peter Brown, you’ll struggle to find four and a half more electrifying, feel-good, funk-infused minutes of music than these.

Pound for pound one of the best cuts of this scene, it’s an early ‘80s boogie leaning blend taking the best bits from disco, funk and soul, and adding a heavy dose of NYC spice to the mix. Punchy funk guitar licks, a driving beat laced with hypnotic cowbells and an intoxicating, gritty yet golden dose of vocal power. A rare as hen’s teeth record finally given the official reissue it’s been crying out for.

Detroit’s own Malik Alston is a man of many talents ranging from singing and producing to djing and performing poetry and has a long list of classic realeases under his belt.
This new EP for Mother Tongue is once again another demonstration of his brilliance!
‘In A Better Way’, the downtempo collaboration with fellow detroiters Jason Hogans and John Arnold, appears here in an extended version on the B side and gets a full house treatment with the help of Dwayne Jensen on the main side to become a relentless gospel house anthem! To complete the EP an exquisite remix of Alston’s ‘Promise Me Love’ by Kemetic Just’s own Just One wich feautures the sublime vocals of Laronn Dolley.

This Re-release of the legendary 2015 Daniele Baldelli's album, in special double vinyl limited edition, with 4 bonus tracks non included in the original version. In COSMIC DRAG you could listen to the musical roots of Daniele Baldelli, electronic vibrations, funk, and groove driven by techno. This release includes more progressive and disco oriented sounds with perfectly fitting sequencer melodies (the inevitable vocoders) and a more variegated and crossover songs full of funky influences (Space Dumper and Lowride) and house (Desmodromico).

“You hear that knockin’? It sounds like another one guest at the Back Door….” For their 10th release, Orlando, Florida residing label Back Door Records opens the gate wide open for Lima producer Piero Casanova aka DJ Casanouva. With a classic house shuffle and a cheeky flair, listeners are treated to Casanova’s signature brand of deep electronic funk.

Back Door Records gets Deep & Smokey with their latest offering from Dj Casanouva. This slice of classical ranging House music is a sure-fire heater for the coming summer. With 3 originals in the package alongside a Dj Jus-Ed remix which turns up the heat yet again in his unique style. This package also drops the Pishonapella for those more adventurous DJs.

With his new EP "Popcorn" the Italian rapper/singer Done chooses to hybridize his hip-hop roots, leaving himself influenced by house and new jack swing. Done's flow blends with the sounds of 909, 808, Korg M1, Juno 106, giving birth to a record with a strongly swingbeat heart but which also flirts with boogie funk and smooth jazz. Music produced by Francesco Fisotti feat. Andrea Rossetti, Issam Dahmani, Filippo Bubbico, Vincenzo Destradis.

Not that Gloucester’s finest Andrew Gillespie needs any introduction, yet we need to talk a little about Dolly James, the great singer featured in this song. Dolly and Andrew met at a local recording/rehearsal studio in 2012 or 2013 where Dolly was rehearsing with her then band Soular UK. Andrew joined them on congas/percussion for a one off gig in Cheltenham and wasted no time in asking Dolly do the vocals for a song that he had just written ( Keep On Doin’ What Your Doin’ ) which was influenced by the Salsoul records disco sound and may take on that style. Andrew Gillespie started off recording as The Aries Vibration ( one self released 45) in 2009 then Gillespie & Co ( various 45 releases, La Glosta Nostra (one 45 release) as well as doing session musician work for labels from California to Switzerland and UK (Discgogs for full history ). Dolly has had a long and successful career as backing singer for the likes of Matt Bianco, Van Morrison, Mick Hucknall and many others. Tesla’s very own Alberto has additionally produced the flipside.

As the resident bass player for renowned Manhattan comedy club Catch A Rising Star, Lloyd George Mair, Jr. worked alongside a host of iconic entertainers and comedians from the past 50 years inc. Robin Williams, Jerry Seinfeld, Andy Kaufman, Billy Crystal, Eddie Murphy, Larry David, Chris Rock and plenty more. This was a creatively vibrant and socially dynamic period in New York’s history marked by the unique meeting and synthesis of post-disco, post-punk and early hip-hop; shaped by a hybrid party culture in which cross-cultural music scenes (Afrika Bambaata, Anita Sarko) collided with artistic ones (Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat) as well as intellectual spheres (Sylvère Lotringer, Antonio Negri) on NYC’s dance floors (Danceteria, Mudd Club), offering unique social and sonic possibilities of interaction, openness and exchange.

As the 1980s progressed, together with increasingly tough Reaganomics, the crack epidemic, real estate inflation, demographic shifts and musicians and clubs catering to increasingly segregated audiences, the synergistic elements that first set the scene apart weakened severely from 1984 onwards. However, thanks to a dedicated underground, the forward-looking sensibilities of Mair, Jr. found an audience, gripping the imaginations of a select group of collaborators and peers from the so-called ‘cassette culture’ movement.

These were not simply ‘demos’, but fully realised art projects primarily traded with other like-minded artists around the world. All kinds of folk found this a simpatico space to make music, think aloud, drift in and out of focus.

Mair, Jr. started recording a dizzying array of home-baked cassettes, most of which remained unreleased or traded internationally. Captivated by the promise of possibility, his sound totally embraced the plastic potential of MIDI and digital, in all their unreal perfection. The sound of placeless, dream-like environments: movie sets,photo shoots, videogame backdrops. Dense webs of flickering neon, laser-strafed minimalism and thick sawwave synths.

This expansive second volume of rarities is drawn from Mair, Jr’s ‘Selected Rhythm Tracks 1988-1994’, a hidden archive of introverted electro-minimalist songwriting culled from over 30 years of private and unreleased cassettes. There's the boogie of the opening ‘Rhythm Track’, rendered in such perfect hi-res, it approximates digi-Motown via sci-fi Library Music soundtracks. ‘The Escape’ strings the most plastic of trumpets over an avant- funk stroll that’s so laidback you feel like it must be hiding something. The Afro-tropicalia of ‘Winefride XL’ is a beatific series of polyrhythmic kalimba lines that you can imagine gathering and drifting over and over again, like tides. There’s a distinct cinematic quality in Mair, Jr’s sequencing, and most of all on the outro to the blissful sweet-sour synth spirals of ‘Winefride LIV’, which sounds like Angelo Badalamenti scoring Perry Henzell instead of David Lynch.

GAMM is back after a short leave of absence with a grand disco rework (not edit).

Our friend Moplen definitely knows his way around the disco and here it all comes full circle as both music and vinyl artwork (full-color 12" vintage sleeve and labels) look and feel like the sound of black New York City circa 1977.
The Blackout Night comes in a main extended +9 min long version and reprise mix (dub version), both are soaked in big strings, soulful vocals, and a thumpin' Disco backbeat.

Ewan McVicar ‘s releases his huge Trick release ‘Tell Me Something Good’ on vinyl this June.

Following releases on Shall Not Fade, Nervous, and his ‘Street Rave EP’ on Trick in 2020 as well as a pair of remixes on the label earlier this year, DJ Mag ‘Best Breakthrough Act’ nominee and Radio 1 favourite Ewan McVicar returns to Patrick Topping’s imprint with a two-track EP of summer-tinged smash hits.

‘Tell Me Something Good’ sees the Scottish DJ/producer cover Rufus & Chaka Khan’s 70s jam of the same name, twisting catchy vocals and huge synth stabs into an ecstatic peak time club weapon. ‘Delta’ brings the tempo down, but keeps the energy levels high as piano chords drift effortlessly across a chugging breakbeat and rolling basslines, making for a feel-good closing track to another standout release from Trick.
