After years of soul, funk and hip-hop explorations as a founding member of the Platinum Pied Pipers (among many other innovative escapades) and, most recently, a soulful remix of Amp Fiddler on Kenny Dixon's Mahogany Music, Waajeed is building on the fresh line of house grooves he commenced this summer. His first pedigree dancefloor tracks in almost 20 years, he taps directly into the source and builds with his own soulful bricks. It's working, too; DJ-wise he's playing alongside Moodyman, Mr. Scruff and Carl Craig this fall, while 'Shango' has enjoyed heavyweight support by The Black Madonna, Carl Craig, Jackmaster, Gilles Peterson and many notable selectors.

Up next on Jimmy Rouge’s Orange Tree imprint is Moving Still aka Jamal Sul. Following his Dar Disku release, supported by Hunee and Palms Trax, Jamal steps up with an eclectic four track EP full of Arabic influenced chuggers, a style quickly becoming synonymous with the young Dublin based producer.

Originally recorded in the late 1970s and using many of the musicians employed by Diana Ross on her track 'The Boss'. 'Can't Put No Price On Love' has long been regarded as North End's 'long lost' single - an inspired disco workout employing that pre-dates the Arthur Baker/Tony Carbone-helmed project's most famous song, Tee Scott/Larry Levan favourite 'Happy Days'. The original multitrack was unfortunately lost, but the track finally appears, 40-odd years after it was recorded. Whether what we're hearing was finished and mixed at the time is uncertain, but the 'Club Mix' is certainly authentic sounding - a genuinely energetic, joyous and effervescent New York disco number with full orchestration, addictive vocals (Jocelyn Brown & Dennis Collins on backing Vox) and a killer groove. Elsewhere across the EP, we get two versions of 'We Can't Live Like This Anymore' - the synth-laden, solo-heavy disco-boogie style original mix (B2) and a superb 'drum break' percussion tool (A2) - and a brilliantly low-slung instrumental dub-disco cover of The Temptations' 'Cloud 9'.

Norwegian Demi-god, Rulefinn is back. On his semi-annual trips to Florida, he snagged a number of gems while digging with WD label honcho, Sleazy McQueen. Three of these songs have been distilled to pure boogie essence for the Fedora Files.

"Heat Up", another wonderful uptempo soul classic by Peven Everett repressed officially on Groovin Recordings. On the flip "Fantasy Eyes", a soulful gem by the super talented singer and musician from Chicago, never released on vinyl.

The Concrete EP is a four tracker, with 'Dark Room' sleazily bass slapping it's way across the dance floor to you, building and oiling you up before flourishing into the synth laden house stomper that will work you into a tizzy, while 'Once Upon a Time in Guilin'zones in on a trippy far east setting, drawing you in before an acid takeover.

Flip it over and find a more downtempo NightMoves with 'Varnish', a heavily layered track with synth, bass and percussion brimming over, building from bell's, synths, kicks and hi-hats up to a house groove while 'Cloud Walking' squelches it's way through trippy echoing synths and invites you to enjoy its deep distorted journey through the skies K-clouds.

Super Spicy's Super Spicy Recipe series is back with a sixth mouthwatering offering and once again it's a super hot outing of party-ready house and disco sounds. First up is the irresistibly colourful disco charm of Birdee with the freewheeling 'Underground' and its groove-infused piano. Label boss Monsieur Van Pratt then adds his own spin to a rare groove classic with a lung-busting soul vocal and Pato Watson is in edit mode as he tweaks 'Ella Fue' to perfection. Italian don Paul Older brings some funky jazz fusion sounds to his steamy 'Turkish Lights, C. Da Afro keeps it a party with his 'Nothing But The Funk' and Mexican Juan Soto slips into a more deep and loved-up funk-house vibe on 'All Is Full Of Love'.

Groove Line Records Autumn series of properly licensed rare disco / funk reissues continues with two superb slices of dance floor soul from the little known Candy Bowman - 'I Wanna Feel Your Love' and 'Since I Found You (Love Is Better Than Ever).'

Released through RCA on 12' in 1981 under the production guidance of the team behind Stephanie Mills successful 1979 album 'What Cha Gonna Do With My Lovin'' (James Mtume, Reggie Lucas), both these tracks exhibit the same smooth, subtle orchestration, instrumentation and soulfulness, and have found a loving home on dance floors and in record collections on both sides of the Atlantic and further a field ever since.

'I Wanna Feel Your Love' opens with jazzy interplay between the guitars and synths then settles on the tight groove at 0m18 before Bowman's stunning, harmonised vocals build up with an intense yearning while the fluid bassline and Chic-esque rhythm guitars play with the drifting synth and horn lines all the way to the fade. The single version is also included on this release.

'Since I Found You (Love Is Better Than Ever)' is incredibly smooth, mid-tempo R&B heaven, favoured by many UK DJs. The ascending piano riff which opens the track can't help but give you an immediate glow even before the beat kicks in and Bowman's joyful vocal hits the first verse. The heightened verses, in contrast to the smooth choruses, make this track perfect for the dancefloor, with a great chorus breakdown at 2m46 which rises back up and glides on the chorus to the fade. The innovative production on this track surely influenced many that came after. Due to the high quality of both of these tracks the original 12''s are always in high demand by committed collectors. Making them the very definition of 80's Rare Groove!
