The very first vinyl release from Blur Records features eclectic, talented Russian DJ and producer Scruscru, dropping a quartet of funky disco tracks on his brand new EP entitled 'Boss Of The Coast'. The title track kicks proceedings off, a fluttering flute holding sway over a nicely retro disco/house hybrid groove, before 'Frog Business' drops the mood to a more relaxed, chilled tempo, with smooth pianos, vocal snippets and languid jazzy brass embellishing the beat. 'Juicy Brass' is the EP's proper brassfest, as well as being blessed with a bouncing bassline and percussive frills, before 'Lucky Piper' sees us off with its irresistible bassline, smooth guitar riffs and more of those jazz-inspired flutes. One for fans of the early Talking Loud or Acid Jazz releases, perhaps, although it's hard to imagine anyone with a penchant for cutting a rug being able to turn this one down.

New York City 1976 and D.C. LaRue is dancing at David Mancuso's 'The Loft' party with friends, as they get higher and the atmosphere more intense DC loudly proclaims 'These places are the new cathedrals'. This epiphany sent him straight back to his Manhattan studio where he wrote the seminal Disco anthem that is 'Cathedrals'. A classic that has lasted because of the quality of the song writing and the stunning musicianship.

These mixes (apart from Greg Wilsons Edit) are taken from the original multi tracks that DC and his crew created that hot summer of '76. Maurice Fulton takes a beautifully eccentric leftfield view that drips drama. Chicago's Jamie 3:26 jacks it up chi-style but without ever losing the soulful essence of the track.

Faith's Farley & Jarvis take a different approach choosing to loop the big hooks under some fresh 909 House beats creating what we hope will be a terrace summer anthem. Greg Wilsons edit has been a heads fave for some time but now its remastered on quality vinyl.

LA producer Blake Robin aka LUXXURY’s new full-length album finds the bassline obsessed disco addict experimenting with funk, synthpop and even (gasp!) pure instrumentals. ‘Increasingly in my most recent singles I’ve been treating vocals like instruments’ says Robin, ‘backgrounding and balancing them as sonic elements instead of centerpieces, so the listener gets lost in the groove.’ And indeed the star of these 11 songs is undoubtedly the 11 stellar basslines that ground the swirling synths and melodies as vocal fragments coolly dip in and out of the mix along.

Highlights include: KCRW fave ‘What Are We Gonna Do?’; the slap bass workout ‘Somebody Tonight’; the contemplative ‘…At Any Moment’ (playlisted by Purple Disco Machine) and its sister track, the title track ‘Alright’; while playful disco-house burner ‘Let’s Stay Together’ blends house and jazz funk rhythms with his trademark dusty basslines.

The album was 100% created by Robin, who wrote, performed, recorded and mixed all 11 songs, and even created the artwork. The 11 songs on LUXXURY’s album are all infectiously rhythmically-oriented while exploring new disco direction

In the midst of the UK house rave-olution of the early-’90s, London’s V4 Visions imprint documented the confluence of street soul, deep house, swingbeat, and jungle sounds emanating from the clubs and pirate radio signals. Over the course of half a decade, V4’s unparalleled 12” output referenced every significant Black British music scene; from lovers rock to jazz-funk, sound system reggae to hip hop, new jack swing to garage, from artists Ashaye, Julie Stapleton, Maureen Mason, Rohan Delano, The Wades, and Endangered Species. New label Golden Ape Records kick off their journey with some raw Electro-Funk chic from the Funk Messiahs with their brilliant debut single, 'Save Me' Vocalist Lucy (Veeresh's Humaniversity Sound), whose deep sultry understated vocals soothe the soul; the amazing Pest trio (Ninja Tune) of Matt on guitar, Vinny on sticks and Tom on Trombone to provide the rhythm and driving funk. Super talented Kitty (Kitty, Daisy & Lewis) moving booties with the bass, and A-Lo adding Electro vibes with his vintage synths. Remixes from Crazy P's Jim Baron, who delivers a seductive percussive Disco vibe under his Ron Basejam moniker; 'Dark Wobble' (aka Michel Williams), who injects some Scouse street style flavas; and Ben Pest amps up the electro filth with a gritty electronic outing.

WLDV introduces four tracks on this new 12″ release in tribute to Valencia’s ‘La Ruta del Bacalao’ (or Ruta Destroy), with a kind of Proto-Techno that reminds us the late eighties and early nineties movement sound, also mixed with his personal Horror Disco.

Originally released in 1979 this single might have been another attempt at birthing an Italian starlet. “Teneramante” on the A-side is a harmlessly well written cheerful Pop oriented number one might hear in a radio of some Italian cabriolet on your way to an aperitivo gathering with some mildly well dressed friends. On the B-side things take a deeper melancholic turn with “Angela E Cosi” - the winner - a funky broken beat underlays the tempo of the track, perhaps not unlike the emotional complications nuanced in the beautiful Italian sung lyrics – recollections of romantic disillusions over a beautiful melody. Already on the maps of certain more perverse digger/collector circles, don't fuss with the fake NM Italian copies for sale online, get your hands a real Mint version with this perfectly restored and remastered 12” version.

Melbourne-based producer Amin Payne has adopted his Teymori alias to explore a distinctive take on house music. The six track debut EP features a host of Melbourne’s finest musicians including Blasko (Billy Davis), Silentjay (Hiatus Kaiyote/Sampa The Great) & Horatio Luna (30/70) to name a few. Limited edition pressing of 400 copies with full colour cover and labels.

The most obscure and sought after italian electronic release, but also another extraordinary 70s output from the legendary Regson Studio of Milan (remembering in 1976 "Funky Bump" and a year later "Disco Shitan", both produced by Pino Presti). The eclectic brother of Vangelis (chit> he was playing keyboards like him), helped by Yorgos Pentzikis for the "vocoder" vocals, reached the right sound for one of the craziest electronic disco song now available for for the first time on 12, containing also the unreleased instrumental version. Nikos Papathanassiou in 1976 achieving success with the disco-hit "U" by Chrisma, but Maurizio Arcieri (cousin of Pino Presti and Chrisma's leader), moved towards new-wave and punk. So for the orchestral conducting of a new cosmic-disco project titled MoreI Like It he involved Rodolfo Grieco who later produced in the emerging genre of Italo-Disco great classics like "Going Crazy" by Lily Ann."

A slice of seriously sought after US disco from La She Ba on Heavenly Star Records that has been a firm favourite of master selector Hunee and trades hands for £125+ on the secondhand market, gets a fresh reissue and remaster for a new generation of listeners.

Formed of Catherine Miller on vocals, produced and written by Harvey Miller and arranged by the mighty Patrick Adams, La She Ba – You've Been Hunchin' hits in all the right spots. Exquisite instrumentation with swooning strings, enchanting chords and tight drums laying the foundation for Miller’s celestial vocals to be the star of the show. Heavenly by name, heavenly by nature this is a must have 12 inch for any collection.

‘Lose Control’ is arguably one of the best songs written by Miguel Migs & Lisa Shaw - released in 2011 on the album ‘Outside The Skyline’ by Salted Music in partnership with Om Records. Italian house masters Micky More & Andy Tee provide a new package with three mixes to suit all tastes via their label, Groove Culture. Side A sees the vocal mix centred around a timeless Wurlitzer groove with a delectable bassline played live and an unexpected trumpet solo in the final part, all of which beautifully compliment Shaw’s dreamy vocals.

First up on the flip, a dub version for the dancefloor featuring an infectious piano and bass groove. The package ends with the B2 a rhodespella version played by maestro Riccardo Burattini who wrote an emotional arrangement for Lisa Shaw's voice. All in all, a timeless record and a must have.
