Stepping up to continue Defected's In The House tradition is DJ Haus, a decidedly untraditional DJ, producer, originator and DIY label innovator. Recognised among the underground house community as being at the cutting edge with his imprints Unknown To The Unknown and Hot Haus Recs, DJ Haus' kaleidoscopic eclecticism and refreshing lack of ostentation makes him, in Defected's opinion, an ambassador for the future of house music.
Ahead of the release of the full compilation Defected presents DJ Haus In The House this vinyl double pack keeps things super fresh and direct with a whopping eight compilation exclusives. New material from Deadboy, Jordan (UK), Ejeca and Innershades is included, plus remixes from DJ Octopus and DJ Steaw. Demonstrating a colourful array of raw and jacking sounds that encompasses electro, Chicago house, disco, techno and UK garage, DJ Haus In The House does the UK's house scene immensely proud. It documents a moment in time when DJ Haus' quietly pioneering dedication to the underground is celebrated in suitably reverent fashion.

Returning for Volume 3 of the sought-after series, Glitterbox Jams is back with another red-hot delivery of dancefloor gems, ready to become a record box essential for all discerning disco DJs. Delivering a selection of the imprint’s finest cuts, most of which have not been available previously on vinyl, the release opens with Glitterbox resident Melvo Baptiste’s debut on the label ‘Bad Company’. Featuring London vocalist Phebe Edwards, Melvo draws inspiration from golden-era disco with funk-fuelled guitar riffs, an irresistible bassline and percussive interludes. Yuksek’s remix of the Glitterbox debut from enigmatic Australian producer Sidwho? follows, a retro disco jam with a slick, modern twist. On the flip, pioneering Belgian producer Aeroplane’s remix of ‘Jump Into The Light’ by Horse Meat Disco & Kathy Sledge opens the AA Side, displaying his signature nu-disco sound at its finest, with a bumpy, grooving bassline and playful synths giving the Glitterbox anthem a clubbier feel. Finally, a brand new 12” mix of Sticks & Stonez and Liv East’s ‘You’re My’ closes out the package, a blissed-out record that transports you to hazy summer days.

Consisting of four glorious disco remixes, the release kicks off with Late Nite Tuff Guy and his remix of a Glitterbox anthem ‘When Love Breaks Down’ by The Shapeshifters and his regular vocal collaborator Teni Tinks. Up next, Dr Packer reveals the first of two remixes, taking on D.C. LaRue’s 1976 classic ‘Cathedrals’. Marshall Jefferson’s club-ready version of Dimitri From Paris x Fiorious ‘Music Saved My Life’ comes next, before Dr Packer closes out with another D.C. LaRue remix, taking on another slice 70s heat on ‘Hot Jungle Drums And Voo Doo Rhythm’.

3 overlooked jams on one 12" single, excavated from the deepest realms of the TK Disco vaults. Remastered, represented and brought back into focus for 2017's DJ bags and dance-floors. Side A sees Wizzdom's 1980 boogie jam 'Free bass' kicking off proceedings. A P-funk-ish, low slung jam indeed, it has everything you'd want including some Furious Five esque shouts of 'Free-Bass!' weaving in and out of the mix. This one is a true heads cut, one for the diggers! Over on side B we get Jimmy 'Bo' Horne's slamming 'Is it in' - a stomping piece of Disco-funk that in the right hands will cause maximum damage. Also, Jimmy's mildly double-entendre lyrics are hugely entertaining! Following up we have a cut from Herman Kelly & Life, 'A refreshing love' was an LP only release and is some serious downtempo Latin tinged soul super soaked in Miami sunshine! All in all, 3 majorly overlooked gems nestled away in the TK archive now brought back into the light. LIFT91 unveils his debut EP, Tape 1.

The EP contains four original tracks varying from straight-forward dancefloor techno to Lo-Fi jacking house beats. Tape 1 displays Lift91's deep explorations which no doubt will appeal to listeners and clubbers alike.

As always in LIFT91's work, the balance between digital instruments, analogue gear and organic sounds (sometimes sampled from his local environment) gives his sound a very recognisable signature. Dry, raw electronic music with layers of organic samples and analogue drum machines is what you will find on this release from start to finish.

Balearic. Disco. Italo. House. These are the styles that forged Filippo Colonna Romano, aka Modula. The diverse musician has always drawn on a rich musical seam for inspiration. His latest album, Sounds from Montenuovo, calls upon a spread of sounds and styles. From the birdsong of the title piece, the listener finds themselves in the stripped electro-wave of “Party Crime” and “Night Warrior” with Pamina Chauveau offering impassioned vocals. The colder edges of emotions are exposed in the unsheathed funk of “The Anger” before the summer brightness and overarching warmth of “Looking At The Horizon”. Modula island hops from genre to genre, dipping into one sound before diving deep into another style to resurface with audio pearls. Tribal tones and melodic bursts come together in the exotic “Malicumbà”, a track which anticipates the pure synthesizer joy of the instrumental version of “Looking At The Horizon”. A vivid collection of imaginings from Romano’s studio, sounds that arrive via the clear waters of the Caribbean and the cinematic echoes of the 1980s. A voyage from beginning to end.

Archeo Recordings is a reissue record label that regenerates old, lost, obscure (and forgotten) rare gems of Italian music of the 70s and 80s, and not only. All outputs are licensed by the artists and the vintage labels; audio tracks are remastered in their original form; the sleeves and center labels are graphically recreated for today but all based on the original images. Disco Segreta teams up again with Miro (b. Mario Baldoni) in the re-release of his 1970s-80s productions, after the italo-disco burner Stranamore by Brina (DS M 002) and the tropifrutti balearic italo-house smasher Tobago by Pat & Pats (DS M 006), we are back introducing to italo-disco connoisseurs a truly atomic jam !

“Passion Night” was originally written by Miro in 1985. Story goes that envisioning a release by 1987, Miro teamed up with legendary south-african sound engineer Allan Goldberg, in light of their previous Vedette Records disco-infused collaboration for the “Slang“ studio project and the “Real Life Games” LP. The team featured also track co-writer Gregorio Puccio, ready to unleash the synths (Roland JD800 + D50, Yamaha DX7, Oberheim 12, Prophet 5), along with two young vocalists, Giulia Fasolino and Silver Pozzoli, later to become household names for the italo-disco heads.

As a special feature on the track, Miro brought in the studio contribution of the top italian jazz contralto saxophone virtuoso of the era, Massimo Urbani.

In September 1987 a session at Pomodoro Studio had the track recorded on a 24 tracks tape, where has been sitting unreleased for 35 years, until now !

Within its cross-genre blend of synth-pop, italo-disco and jazz, “Passion Night” is an outstanding musical time capsule, a picture-perfect vivid snapshot of year 1987, with the additional historical value as a document itself: it’s the only strictly non-jazz project in Massimo Urbani’s repertoire, in a revelatory performance shedding a light over an unusual facet of Urbani’s versatile talent, regardless of boundaries, a few years before his untimely passing.

Three years in the making for this first-ever release, so that we could bring you “Passion Night” in its original 1987 version from the actual multitrack master, with our usual respectful treatment, plus three remixes: the balearic infused “Miro Smooth Jazz Remix” and a remix by highly acclaimed musician and producer Giulio d’Agostino aka Julyo, who can claim a plethora of collaborations for artists as diverse as Aphex Twin, Goldie, and Michael Brecker.
