Roots Unit are - once again - on the cutting and splicing side of things, this time tackling 2 rockets with afro-centric house leanings.

First up is 'This Poem', an alternative house take on the tune made most famous by Bobby Konders via his initial sample source, way back when. Percussive house beats mixed with deep stringy chords intertwined by THAT poem. Simple, effective and one that will lift many a dance floor.

Secondly we have 'Trenchtown Double Down'. This is an altogether moodier dub-house affair that sees Jamaica go to a lost New York garage party circa 1993. "

Lumberjacks in Hell comes out with a milestone compilation to celebrate 10 years in business with an all star line up made of the likes of Detroit Swindle, Waajeed, PBR Streetgang and Lumberjacks founder Marcel Vogel himself, alongside Tim Jules and Javonntte. You are used to quality from this label and quality it is.

Soul Central responsible for the anthemic house version of 'Strings of Life' needs no introduction. Their latest Pimp Life EP is a limited edition four-track vinyl that fluidly introduces the Electric Shrine imprint. The EP features a mix of gritty, jazzy, soulful and funk-filled cuts that are interplayed with raw interviews from behind bars. Soul Central keeps it deep and sleazy whilst delivering the real deal. 'Late Night Cruising' chronicles the journey of a Bluesman, departing with the funkiest of grooves and solid sub-bass becoming the final destination.
'Just A Man' embeds the confessions from a convicted pimp dispersed with classic keys and dripped in Soul. Turning in a modern take on the deeper side of Disco. 'Bring It Home' is haze fuelled & reminiscent of the early US House scene. 'Chicago Lights' fuses 4/4, low slung Funk driven by a deeper dub vehicle.

Swedish producer HNNY (real name Johan Cederberg) releases his debut album 'Sunday' on Omena Records, a label set up by Tobias 'Tooli' Lidstrom.

The ten track debut album continues an ongoing partnership between HNNY and Omena Records that started in April 2014 when the 12" 'Always' was released which also marked the starting point of the label.

Sunday is released as a 180 g vinyl edition in gatefold sleeve.

Rocksteady Disco's newest recruit is Eddie Logix. He's been at the heart of the Detroit underground for over 15 years, most recently with his Technically Yeah live hardware nights, a grip of ambient and hip-hop releases, engineering for Assemble Sound. He’s one half of left-field funk-hop duo Mega Powers with Pig Pen, and of 'BLKSHRK' alongside Blair French, who first appeared on Rocksteady Disco
back in 2016 on; For Todd.

Placebo Palace is Eddie's first solo dance EP, combining all of this experience into a diverse offering for discerning dance floors.

The EP leads with “Que Locos”, a tropical house banger driven by brass and Latin-Jazz piano. “Baby Girl” rounds out the A side, with a dusty R & B vocal sample coupled with a massive and unexpected bassline. The B side is darker and deeper, starting with the frantic Afro-Jazz-Deep House “Sunday Palaver”. Closing the EP is “Bottle Rocket”, a psychedelic surf rock-tinged disco-not-disco chugger, with live guitar by Daniel Monk and electric bass by stphn-b. Here comes the second Toy Tonics EP by Joel Holmes & Cody Currie.
The new Berlin based duo that works on a fresh musical style that combines Jazz, broken beats, Soul and NY House.
Joel, the American jazz pianist, is a former member of Roy Hargrove’s Grammy winning Jazz-Hop band and member of Carl Craig’s synthesizer ensemble. Joel is living in Berlin now, where he is involved in the new vibrant Neo-Jazz scene. (Yes! Berlin used to be a Techno city, but it’s becoming a Jazz town now!)
In Berlin Joel throws monthly jam sessions (the Urban Base Jam) where the creme de la creme of Berlins ex-pad jazz musicians meets up. Crazy things can happen here. Like when Erykah Badu played Berlin in 2019 and her complete band came to jam at Joel’s session after their gig.
Joel teamed up with Cody Currie: 24 year old London born talent, who already made waves in the house scene. Cody is known as a stylized producer, with a unique recognisable sound. Much of his craft was homed in studying a bachelors in music in London. His most known work by now might be a jazzy reinvention of ‘Devils Shoestring’ with over half a million plays on SC and YT. With his new works Cody is coming away from sampling, working only with live instrumentation.
Joel & Cody both live in Berlin now where they met Toy Tonics head honcho Mathias „Kapote“ Modica. And when they met there was a vibe instantly. All three have their roots in jazz music and share similar ideas about how dance-music should evolve in 2020

A tight and flawless early 80's production sensibility and the incredible vocal arrangements and lyrical performance of Leroy Burgess make this one a definite essential in any DJ's box. If you dig that post-Disco electronic sound this one is for you, simply perfect in every way and quite tough to track down these days in its original form with copies reaching high figures on the second hand market. Needless to say, Moplen injects his own personal style into his remix and adds his unique flair creating an essential new version of this classic on the B-side. Always understanding, respectful and fresh, Moplen pumps 'Heartbreaker' in all the best ways, crafting a drum and bass heavy DJ version and new arrangement that you will be hearing for many years to come! Shep Pettibone - A name that commands the greatest of respect from DJ's, diggers, dancers and music lovers across the galaxy. A name that has been emblazoned across so many club classics that the accompanying discography is simply dizzying. The underground Disco of groups like Aurra, First Choice and Candido and early 80's experimental dubbed out club cuts of cult outfits like NV, Alisha and Carol Williams and even the heady pop chart successes of bands like Level 42, The Pet Shop Boys, Jermaine Jackson and many more, have all benefitted from Pettibone's prowess behind the mixing boards. A true musical legend and the man who literally crafted the sounds and styles of almost 2 decades of club music back to back, Shep Pettibone's pedigree can never be called in to question.
