“Joi N’Juno - Samemala (The album)”, is the debut album from Joi N’Juno and heralds the second long player released on the Canopy imprint.

David Baluteau aka Joi N’Juno is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, producer and full-time studio engineer with many years honing his craft. David earned his stripes as founder, composer and lead singer of the cult French drum & bass-electro-punk band “La Phaze” which has been running successfully for 25 years and recently concluded an extensive 2-year tour.

Now focusing on this new chapter in his creative journey, Joi N’Juno serves up an album that is at the same time both fresh & mature. The album encompasses a range of influences, from classic 70s and 80s disco vibes a là Niles Rogers, zouk boogie from Kassav, afro funk vibes from Nigeria as well as modern disco house motifs.

The resulting concoctions are aimed at the dance floor, whilst retaining a certain “pop” appeal in their catchy sing-along compositions. Punchy production, funky guitars, groovy bass lines and infectious vocal melodies combine with dextrous keyboard wizardry, culminating in a fusion that has wide appeal both on and off the dance floor.

Samosa Records once again lights the Olympic Groove Torch, this time with a follow up to the hugely successful Italian Disco Machine Vol. 1.

The stellar line-up for this gorgeous slice of wax features Samosa label co-owner Les Inferno, Shamako, M.B. Edit and CeZar – all bringing different and unique flavours to this ‘Festival dell’Italo Funk.
First up on the A-Side is Les Inferno with ‘Boogie Bones’ (which could easily be Les Inferno’s alternative ‘soprannome’). Coming in at 125bpm we’re straight in with this groove. The ride is quickly mapped out as it motors from the intro through to the sublime funky bassline. This has Les Inferno’s prints over it; with his laser-sights firmly on a delivering a perilously funky, disco bath-bomb to soap up any dance floor. The rhythm bone is connected to the boogie bone, and don’t you forget it!

A2 is ‘I Like To Love’ - a sultry, sassy, sexual chocolate fountain of a track from Shamako, who hails from the Italian province of Macerata. This track oozes with cool downtempo funk tones. The languid bassline acts as the river current whilst the synth stabs, sensual sax and soaring strings carry you along the banks. The delicious vocal enters at a perfect moment – expertly combining the tight arrangement which swiftly travels into funky guitar territory. If you like your slow groove as sexy as Sophia Loren coated in a champagne glaze, this is going to be your go-to track. A pure delight.

Starting proceedings on the B-Side is Samosa favourite M.B. Edit with ‘All Night’. An absolute mid-tempo rump shaker, the pulsating synth bass and filtered organ builds with an outrageous low-end beat that really tests the speakers. Filthy guitar licks combine with a contagious vocal chant of “funk and soul, all night!” to lay the ground for one of the funkiest riffs you’re likely to hear. This, boys and girls is what Samosa is all about

Closing things off on the B-side is CeZar with the trumpet-laden chugger, ‘Dancin’ & Feel Good’. A thigh slappin’, foot tappin’ jam flavoured boogie monster that connects the bridge from disco to funk, only to blow it up again. The beat grabs you instantly, as does the feisty, thrusting brass ensemble. Within no time at all the track explodes into a full-on cloud burst of funk which has you completely under its spell. Don’t resist it. The perfect cherry to top the most delicious Italian Funky cake.

A fierce four tracker which delights, bedazzles and enchants in equal measure, Italian Disco Machine Vol. 2 cements Samosa Records’ place as one of the hottest labels out there right now. Grab it while you can!

Bicoastal disco aficionado, Super Elevation label/shop owner, and all-around legend of the scene, Tom Noble brings forth a sprawling project 15 years in the making with his House of Spirits full length LP on Razor-N-Tape.

Slow-cooked over more than a decade, the eight tracks that stretch across this double 12 inch pack are the realization of Tom’s unique vision of modern dancefloor soul, with lush live instrumentation and deviously catchy hooks. Boasting a near encyclopedic knowledge of decades of club music, Tom draws on influences like Patrick Adams & the Mizell Brothers to build a sound that’s both reverent to the past, but feels extremely fresh and immediately timeless.

The lead off singles ‘Times Are Changing’ and ‘Please Take Me There’ and respective remixes by Harvey Sutherland, Makez and Sizmo have already garnered huge support, and ‘Holding On’ the beloved original House Of Spirits single from 2020 appears with a shiny new mix. The album opens with ‘Love Trip,’ an uptempo invitation to the sonic world to follow, and moves through various moods, like the Brit-funk vibe of ‘Time Is Running Out,’ the mid-tempo groover ‘I Get Lifted’ and the downtempo R&B smoothness of ‘Diamond Eyes’ featuring dreamcastmoe on vocals.

The kind of track that makes you want to know what kind of morning routine Apiento has on a weekday, "The Orange Place" is simply an underground dancefloor classic of the 2010's that makes you realise something very special was going on with Paul Byrne's Astrological charts at the time. In his innocent words: "This was made in 2013 in a studio in East London. It was sort of made for like dark clubs that just have that glowing light which is why it was named ‘The Orange Place’. It’s fun to hear in the club as you know what it is from the first conga hits." A galloping chugger known to do serious damage on well oiled dancefloors like Pikes in Ibiza with DJ Harvey at the reins. Pure Sleazy Belgian Indiana Jones vibes, impossible to forget and very timeless, if you didn't get in on the first pressings, don't sleep on another chance. For Conor Larkman and Sean Finnigan of LF SYSTEM, their success follows humble beginnings in the Scottish countryside, playing football against each other as teenagers on rival teams and raving at Scotland’s best clubs. They give credit for their dance hits to home village parties, soundtracked by Motown where Sean's Dad would share classic 70s records with them to dig into. Naturally, LF SYSTEM soon dropped disco edits of their own in 2020 including Dancing Cliché, which Danny Howard discovered and played for nine weeks on his BBC R1 show, earning over 4M streams and further plays from Sarah Story and Charlie Hedges.

Since then they have captured the attention of the whole industry and have played a bucket list headline Boiler Room set in Edinburgh, marking a full circle moment for the lads who were previously club residents for its promoters FLY CLUB. Tunes Delivery is a sub-label of Scruscru's Scruniversa and now it enters into the world with a fantastic first offering in the form of this six-track various artists EP. 'Hotmood' opens up with the feel-good disco-funk of 'Just Tonight,' Scruscru keeps it real with 'Funky Flute' which is a nice languid instrumental and Frank Virgilio up the ante with some big horn-laced grooves. The flip side then comes on strong with three more brilliantly musical grooves that brim with catchy riffs and fresh disco-infused rhythms. A great start to what is sure to be a great label.

Presenting the second single from D.D. Mirage, a double header aimed squarely at the dancefloor featuring guest musicians Daniel Monaco and Nu Genea's Andrea De Fazio. A side 'Feel it' is a glittering cosmic disco jam with a hint of hedonism and an air of psychedelia. Capturing the euphoric exuberance of the dance floor, it draws influence from boogie legends such as 400 Blows, Patrick Cooley, Quando Quango and the Idjut Boys. The 12" Instrumental Mix takes inspiration from the Paradise Garage and Larry Levan, stripping back the musical elements to their core resulting in a Dubby and powerful DJ orientated mix.

B side 'So Hot' is a wonky mid-tempo heater, fusing trippy, sun-stroke delieria with infectious disco grooves. D.D. Mirage collaborated with some of Italy's finest groove merchants on this track, with Daniel Monaco (Rush Hour/Periodica Records) featuring on bass and Andrea De Fazio (Nu Genea/Parbleu) on drums. The track was influenced heavily by 80s Italo and Nigerian Disco. Label head Jura Soundsystem provides a Dubby extended take on the B2.

Bologna born Italo Disco legend Celso Valli’s ‘Tantra’ project had one aim; to push the boundaries of disco! Released in 1979 in the vein of Cerrone and Giorgio Moroder, ‘Hills of Katmandu’ is a unique, progressive slice of classic Italo Disco. The pulsating ‘Moroder-on-steroids bassline’, menacing female vocal and warbling synths take you on a trippy disco journey. The track became a huge dancefloor anthem at legendary clubs such as The Loft and The Saint in New York and Baia Degli Angeli in Rimini.

Originally available on vinyl in 1982 on San Francisco’s “Hot Classics” DJ Service”, Patrick Cowley’s “Original Underground Mix” is a work of pure genius that unleashes his skills on the synths and somehow manages to surpass the original.

High Fashion Music have enrolled Ben Liebrand to restore all the original remix-tapes, managing to re-edit and adjust each and every nuance to perfection, taking away any and all flaws which appeared in the original and it’s acetates, so that it is now steady preserving the original Hi NRG sound. This is the first time this restored and upgraded version has been released.

On the flip-side, there is the original 16’20 minutes version of the Jurgen Koppers mix, an extended re-edit of the original Celso Valli version, which appeared first on Disconet in 1979, and in the following year on the US (Importe/12) release of the “Tantra – the Double Album” longplayer.

Casinoboy makes a triumphant return to Duca Bianco with a sparkling EP that once again shows his studio mastery. Previously featuring alongside luminaries like Rune Lindbaek and Khidja on a well-received compilation, Casinoboy's latest kicks off with 'Honesty' which is a blend of Balearic and breaks that brings a shuffle-and-wiggle experience with uplifting samples and an old-school UK rap edge. 'This Feeling' has a catchy Street Soul feel, while 'Searos' mixes up ambient sounds and Spanish Guitar to evoke the essence of the White Isle. Closing with 'Astral Go Go,' really pumps the party in ways only he knows how.
