After the sell out success of MAXEN02, Niko returns with the third instalment on his signature MAXEN series. With early support from Viceversa, Cesar Merveille, Arapu, Vlad Arapasu, Okain, Rich NxT, Burnski, Vern, Alexis Cabrera, Janeret, Giuliano Lomonte and others, MAXEN03 is looking likely to follow in the footsteps of its predecessors.

The first release of the new label, based in Moscow, is dedicated to my son Adrian. The release consists of two original tracks and remixes from the respected artists Silat Beksi and Farid Odilbekov

Following his debut release on vinyl for Atipic Lab, DumitrEscu delivers three heavy tracks on our third instalment. The A side features a break line that already made this artist’s sound stand out. The second release of Homies Cuts imprint it’s a poker of aces. A winning play by four fantastic gamblers including a velvet groovy disco sweetie by the italian maestro Riccio, a playful and tropical spanish 80’s cut brought in by Willie Graff and his almighty balearic wisdom, capo MLIR throwing a thug powerful electro piece to madden dance floors and Jack Priest showing his edit savoir faire with a symphonic slow space disco odissey.

Surge Recordings drops ‘Chase The Rabbit’, a debut on wax for both Surge and Andrew Azara. The A side is an anthem in the making. Inspired from the early 2010’s driving house era, ‘Chase The Rabbit’ is fast paced & energetic, whilst Tokio’s minimal breakdowns & clever transitions on the B side make for a versatile track that can be played at the start of a set, or into the early hours. Either way it’s guaranteed to get the people moving, and will find it’s way into the record bags of some top selectors.

Chaotic Discord - But Beautiful II introduces the first vinyl-only release from newfound Tsarskoye Selo record label.

Ever in search of the freshest and most forward thinking minimal talent, Ukrainian label Modeight returns with its 10th release. This milestone 12" sees the imprint tap Canadian beat smith ckb, who delivers an intimate and groovy affair entitled "Round-Robin". Now based in Leeds, the Canadian has spent over a decade exploring both contemporary and left field production techniques. Working meticulously to strike a healthy balance between the two that delivers on the dancefloor. ckb certainly accomplishes this across the EP, as the youngster fires up with 4 distinctive cuts that are energized by complex rhythmic elements and heady atmospheric tones. A well deserved feature for the Canadian who is a perfect addition to the Modeight family.

After a relatively long break Jaffa Surfa makes his return with a new release that is a bit more raw thus shifting the sound of Tape Hiss into the same direction. In comparison with his previous releases on labels like Bosconi Extra Virgin, All Inn Records and Houseworx he is making an effort to explore new territories with 'Psy Lance EP' while staying true to his trademark housey sound. Considering all the musical styles that Jaffa Surfa is taking inspiration from (from the soul/funk/disco trio, through all shades of house music and all the way up to techno) it doesn't come as a surprise to see him churning out productions in various styles even within one release. The rolling yet deep 'Psy Lance' complements the playful and trippy 'Bazz' nicely just as the beatless DJ-tool 'Preacha Bonus'.

The second wax on Nightflight Records contains tracks from Mystic Future (Yannick Robyns & Charlie Levan, Housewax) and Mariska Neerman (Planet E, Semantica). Derek Carr (Subwax excursions, Ferox, Craigie Knows…) shows his musical brilliantness by delivering two superb remixes. Mystic Future’s “Break The Cycle” starts with breaky beats and a trippy, deep pad building up the tension till the 4/4 beat and wobbling baseline kick in creating a dancefloor filler tune. Derek Carr proves that white men can funk: his remix of “Break The Cycle” will keep these asses moving with this hi-tech funk monster! Mariska Neerman’s “Organic Depths” shows that techno can be funky by mingling stomping beats with funky synth stabs. Derek Carr takes “Organic Depths” to a deeper level by reworking to an electrofunk killer track without losing touch with the original.

Tied is back for another vinyl only release. This time with three original grooving tracks from Sakro (Half Baked/Raum/Bon Vivant) and a deep remix by label head Max Jacobson. Universal Glory is for the dark late night hours, while Where R U and Delirium showcase Sakro’s signature sound with rolling bass lines and hypnotic grooves. Max Jacobson’s remix takes you on a deep galaxy ride while keeping some of the core elements from the original.

Sascha Dive was last spotted on Bondage-Music earlier this year with the deep hypnotic pulses of ‘Dark Night’ on ‘Bondage Games 5’. So it’s fitting he returns with ‘Detroit Sunrise’ and, as sure as day follows night, it’s every bit as deep, pulsing and hypnotic as you’d expect from the Frankfurt craftsman… 

His first full EP for the Leipzig label, we open with real talk. ‘Detroit Sunrise’ warms up with broad, swinging drums, rippling textures and a crucial spoken word sample every single one of us should consider. It sets the scene for two classic Dive deep adventures as both ‘Dub Chronicles #1’ and ‘Dub Chronicles #2’ both roll out with subtlety and understatement. Layered, absorbing and endless; timeless tools made for those deep mix moments of magic. 

Last but not least, we end on an upbeat. ‘Ghostdancer’ takes more of a sprightly, light-footed note with an upward-spiralling arpeggiated riff, gentle ebb and flow chords and a light peppering of cosmic flurries. Ghoulishly good. Like all things by Dive and Bondage-Music. Don’t get tied down, get tied up…
