Galaxy Lane - Voyager 1 EP

If you were to dash through cross-dimensional portals somewhere on the other end of the multiverse for a routine, there's good chances you'd be listening to Galaxy Lane's 'Voyager 1' full blast in your saucer. Next in line on Lone Romantic, the mysterious producer from outer-space lands a particularly delectable debut transmission fuelled on wilder-than-wild electro grooves, glitchy radio disruptions and boy, a healthy dose of laser-precise early rave breaks.

Interlarded with cryptic vox samples drowned in distortions and sonar echoes scanning an endless horizon of unknowns, 'Take Off' takes us for a zero-G drift across the greater void as an introduction. It's with the second track, 'Landed', that the engine eventually starts to bolt and race, drawing us into a planetary waltz of sorts, as Saturn rings go hula hoop and the moon's craters get irresistibly itchy. The spaceship's dropped anchor off a sun-deprived belt of mercury lakes, and hostile alien territories are ahead. No time for laser battles and other robot-assisted jousts, Galaxy Lane's here to wake up the uninitiated from their ignorant slumber and hand them the universal truth on a platter: old-school is the only school.

On 'Explore', the groove gets further epic as ominous sub-bass swashes, rattling drums, playful bleeps and FX-drenched synth bursts collide and melt dangerously. One to leave wisps of vapour in its wake, the track revs up and blazes its way across lysergic extra-terrestrial scapes - whilst bushes teem with a neon-coloured flora and translucent, multi-headed fauna. Back on board the shuttle, it's time to 'Return'. A further pared-down affair, the final cut draws back to a deeper, more anxiogenic kind of ambience, where a skittish and pacey drum programming interlaces with a heavy machinic hiss, busy pistons noises and raucous gargles to weave a singular home-coming finale. Look through the window and all you'll see is an ever-shrinking grain of sand in an off-the-scale planetary system. Dizzying.

Johanna Samuels - Have A Good One

"i Love Songs That Make You Feel Something Viscerally,' Says Johanna Samuels, The La-based Songwriter Who Releases Brand New Ep 'have A Good One' This Spring On Basin Rock, And It's A Sentiment That Echoes Right Through The Heart Of The Five Stirring Songs That Make Up Her New Work.

Born In New York City And Named After Dylan's Vision Of Johanna, Samuels Subsequently Moved To La And Grew Up On The Classic Songwriters Of Yesteryear (young, Petty, Morrison) Before Finding Her Way To Elliott Smith And Jon Brion, Both Of Whom Had A Huge Impact On Her Writing. Samuels Then Spent The Best Part Of A Decade Honing Her Craft, Carefully Peeling Away The Layers Until She Found Herself Here, A Stark, Absorbing, And, Yes, Visceral New Collection That Is Her Strongest And Most Honest Work To-date.

Finding A Way To Balance Bright Pop Melodies With A Drifting Sense Of Melancholy That Can't Be Placed, Samuels Made The Most Of A Bad Year, Writing The Ep As A Reaction To Her Longterm Relationship Falling Apart. so Much Of The Record Is About Loss Of Love - Really The Loss Of Myself,' She Explains. i Really Lost A Grasp On Who I Was And It Truly Broke Me. Exploring The Idea Of Identity In Relationship Was Important To Me. The Songs Also Come Out Of Me Figuring Out How To Exist Within A New-found Strength Instead Of Grasping For Love Or The Idea Of It.'

More Than Just Skin-and-bone, The Songs Here Are Comprised Of Lap Steel, Clarinet, Juno Analog Synthesisers, And More, And This Rich Instrumentation Provides A Swaying And Elegant Back-drop Which Helps Bring Samuel's Stories Beautifully To Life. Recorded With Musical Partner, The Up And Coming Producer Sean O'brien (who Helped Engineer The National's Sleep Well Beast Lp) The New Ep Was Created In His Studio, Which Became Something Of A Haven For Samuels And The Work She Was Creating. As Such, The Five Songs On Have A Good One Are Full Of Emotional And Musical Depth, Each Moment Of Darkness Acutely Balanced By A Brightness That Lifts These Songs Out Of A Shadows And Into The Hearts And Minds Of The Listener.

These Two Elements Are The Ying-and-yang Of Samuels Work, And Nowhere Is This Better Epitomised Than On The Record's Opening Two Songs. Lead Track 'why Do I Go There' Is A Bold, Glowing Opener, The Playful Piano And Lush Instrumentation Belying The Sense Of Heartache In Samuels Beautifully Lilting Voice, Driving The Track Forwards As It Softly Buries Its Way Into Your Consciousness.

Then Comes The Tender, Country-like Balladry Of 'rush Of Wheels', Written Quickly In The Dead Hours Of Night, It Presents A Poignant Quest For Answers, Aching Under The Weight Of Its Emotional Turmoil, Sad And Oh So Beautiful.

Accompanying 'rush Of Wheels' Is A Video That Samuel's Made With Best Friend (and Sundance Grand Jury Prizewinner) Anu Valia. Inspired By The Hour At Which The Song Was Written, The Stunning Film Was Shot With Just The Two Of Them, Alone On A Beach At Sunrise, Before The Rest Of The World Had Woken Up. A Stunning Counterpart To The Song Itself, The Film Is A Testament To Art And Music As A Shared Experience, To Friendship And Growth, To This Special New Chapter In The Life And Times Of Johanna Samuels.

Johanna Samuels Is Fourth Signing To Basin Rock, A Relatively New Label Based In The Lancashire / Yorkshire Border Town Of Todmorden) Who Has Released Albums By Julie Byrne, Nadia Reid And Jim Ghedi.

Let's Ride

12inchDKMNTL066
Dekmantel Records
11.04.2019

Australian producer Roza Terenzi is next on Dekmantel with a quasi-cosmic, tropospheric slab of deep rave. The blend of breakbeats, distorted rhythms, and quirky yet sublime analog melodies evoke the senses, making this an exciting label debut from one of the underground's rapidly rising stars.

'Let's Ride' kicks of with '3.I.Y.', a track that initially reverberates and tweaks, as if crashing in from outer space. 'Bricks' slows the tempo down, and adds larger degrees of space, with a 110bpm chilled out timbre, and a wispy-palette. 'Freak N Tweak' is another slice where the mood cuts gently between ambient bliss, and analogically synthesised, percussive electro - like a downtempo, cerebral take on classic electronica. The EP's closer 'Open Me' takes the music back to full rave-speed, with layers of classic-era breakbeats and vintage sounding keys, all manifesting itself in Terenzi's contemporary take on pulsing, esoteric dancefloor rhythms.

Teruhisa Fukuda ( Shakuhachi Master ) - Japon (japan)

Ambient/Traditional Flute Music from Japanese Shakuhachi Master Teruhisa Fukuda

The shakuhachi is an end-blown bamboo flute with one dorsal and four frontal holes and a bevelled notch as mouthpiece. There are two elements in the name of the instrument: shaku refers to an ancient measurement which is the equivalent of 30,3 cm; hachi means eight. Originally shakuhachi thus refers to a flute that measures 1,8 shaku, that is, 54,5 cm.

For this CD, 2LP Master Fukuda chose a series of seven pieces from a repertoire dating back to the seventeenth century. These were originally performed by monks belonging to the Fuke sect of zenBuddhism, who viewed their instrument as means for meditation. The seven pieces are destined to be played solo, in the spirit of zen.

Teruhisa Fukuda
Born in 1949, Teruhisa Fukuda is an eminent artist who has explored a vast range of musical techniques from, both, traditional and contemporary music.

The Lonely Crowd

Minimal Wave
22.05.2019

An LP of tracks, taken from various cassette releases, by Belgian synthwave luminaries The Misz (Jan Van den Broeke and Dries Dekocker)! 600 copies on 180 grams vinyl.

The Misz formed in Gent in 1983 by Jan Van den Broeke and Dries Dekocker at a time when they had both just relocated from the country. They lived on the same street and collaborated freely with the limited equipment they had, which always centered around the Fostex 250 4-track tape recorder. They used an unknown monophonic synthesizer, casio synths, roland drum machines, hand drums and guitars through effects pedals, improvising with their voices and often and included friends for additional voices and sounds. They captured these sonic experiments and sometimes released them on cassette in editions of 100-200. They were also included on numerous cassette compilations throughout the 1980s on labels like Mad In Belgium, The Cassette Factory, 3RIO Tapes, Minimart production, Fraction Studio, Cauchy Productions, Home Product, R.R. products, ZNS Tapes, and Body Records. They described themselves as young, immature and bit strange yet totally bold and fearless. They sang about what surrounded them from world politics and environmental catastrophes to love and lust. The songs on The Lonely Crowd span from various cassette releases and have been remastered from their original reel to reel tapes.

TV Victor - Back To The Moon

TV Victor was one of the first artists of Tresor Records where he became legendary with several of his ambient and trance productions including Trance Garden 1-3 and Trancecology Chapter 1. In 1989, he launched his first solo project: Moondance - The Magic Sound of the Moon, where he lay foundations for later explorations with experimental sounds fused with pop elements and anticipated an ambient excursion to be had in the future.

In the following decades TV Victor created impressive solo works that traversed between ambient and trance, he collaborated with artists like Moritz v. Oswald, Max Loderbauer, Ari Benjamin Meyers, Paul Browse and Tobias Freud. Contrary to common mainstream tendencies he created a very unique interpretation of both genres. In recent years Victor has concentrated on creating experimental and abstract sonic spaces for escaping reality, spaces that live through the imagination of the listener. Each piece, a segment of a larger musical movement; stands alone to create new sonic continuums. Otherworldy music that is in its own sphere.

30 years after the release of Moondance and 50 years after the first landing, Lullabies For Insomniacs revisit TV Victor's musical roots with 'Back To The Moon'. The previously unreleased works were carefully selected from his vaults and restored by Berlin based engineer Brett Olke (B Ashra), the album offers a glimpse into the future by creating a soundtrack for mankind's settlement of beyond in a conceivable hereafter.

Anna Homler - Deliquium in C

American performance and improv artist Anna Homler is best known for her early work as 'Breadwoman,' originally released in the mid-80ties. Ever since, Homler has played a myriad of live gigs, released a steady stream of music—and was part of numerous collaborations. With Deliquium in C, Präsens Editionen now proudly presents four new tracks originating from Homler's collaborations, on which she sounds gentle and pervasive, maternal and childlike, enigmatic and familiar, playful and severe, squeaking and humming.
For Deliquium in C, Homler worked together with four extraordinary artists moving in the domain of electronic music in its broadest sense: Gang of Ducks' Alessio Capovilla, Mark Davies alias The Pylon King (who, together with Homler, forms the duo Voices of Kwahn), PAN-affiliate Steven Warwick aka Heatsick, and the late Steve Moshier, who produced the original Breadwoman tape. These collaborations emphasize once more just how versatile Homler is—as a singer and as a master of her toys.

23.04.2019

For the label's second release, Amsterdam imprint yeyeh has brought together two musicians from vastly different backgrounds to celebrate the far-sighted musical potential of the Theremin on the 100-year anniversary of the instrument's invention.

'Waves' is the product of two weeks of studio collaborations between award-winning composer and Theremin soloist Carolina Eyck and Eversines, an electronic music producer who has previously released music on yeyeh's sister label ninih. It builds on Eyck's work composing for 'Theremin & Voice', with both artists playing a part in processing, modulating, layering and arranging vocal and Theremin sounds to create six breathtaking electronic compositions.

Varied in tone and execution, the album's six tracks are arguably closer to instrumental pop than academic electronic music. Some tracks bear comparison to the cyclical melodic movements associated with the greats of American minimalism, while others recall the alien, otherworldly futurism of the Radiophonic Workshop, classic ambient music and the sun-bright bliss of early '90s IDM. Yet despite these possible perceived parallels, 'Waves' sits on its own as a stunning work crafted from the simplest of musical elements.

  • A1: Discomfort
  • A2: Gratitude
  • A3: Pride
  • B1: Hope
  • B2: Hopelessness
  • B3: Shame
  • B4: Guilt

One core dynamism within the field of music is the relationship between performer and spectator. The audience listen and watch the musicians enjoying themselves and through that they get an experience of joy. This requires a system of believing where organized sound can be recognized, and is therefore music as such. Upon listening to Orchestra of Constant Distress´ third album you might want to question this meaning of tonality. Through catatonic riffs and uncanny sounds we are as listeners left with a situation where we do not know how to distinguish bad and good, pleasure from displeasure. OoCD seems to be moving beyond their decent from such bands as Brainbombs, The Skull Defekts and Union Carbide Productions towards a tension of disbelief.

Fellow Brightonian Friction gives the Fatboy Slim original a 2018 update with this powerful remix package.

Friction's 'One In The Jungle' mix pulls the best parts of the puzzle and rearranges them into a vibe soaked thumper, harking back to the wonder years of our scene. With a naughty low end and a chopped vocal, this is one's thundering out the undergrowth and into the light.

The second fully loaded refix dropkicks the original into the middle of the modern dancefloor. With Friction road testing this every weekend and Killer Hertz making some serious moves on Elevate Records, this is causing some Jumanji style damage to clubs and stereos worldwide

Laurence Guy - Making Music Is Bad For Your Self Esteem

For his Studio Barnhus debut, Laurence Guy connects the dots between the lo-fi ambient investigations of
his 2017 album Saw You For The First Time, the warm club sounds heard on All I See Is Her (last year's
standout 12'' for Tokyo's Mule Music), and the London-based dj/producer's long roots in deep drum'n'bass and
dubstep soil.
Those roots, always present as subtle rhythmical traces on Laurence Guy records, now appear more explicitly
than ever, boosting the typically graceful harmonies and sooty samples of Guy's music with a new, profound
energy. From the unswerving neo-jungle of Wildlife, through My Brain Is A Scrambled Egg with its dusty rave
euphorisms, onwards to the hypnotic guitar ballad It's Good To Try, this six-track EP is chock-full of the sort of
unrestrained musical enthusiasm that Studio Barnhus is always on the lookout for.
Making Music Is Bad For Your Self Esteem is at once Guy's most experimental and most personal record yet, an
essential addition to both artist's and label's catalogues.

Branko - Nosso

Branko

Nosso

12inchENLP102
Enchufada
06.08.2021

The first thing that strikes you when hearing 'Nosso' is its feeling of intimacy and warmth. The title, which means 'Ours' in Portuguese, is apt since he sees the record as the result of letting a wild variety of people into his world. João notes that 'I didn't know most of the collaborators before meeting up with them in a studio somewhere in the world, so most of these songs are coming from a very immediate and honest sense of collaboration where you spend an afternoon with someone learning about each other at the same time as you're making music. It's a shared experience, a moment where two or more people came up with ideas together, that they probably wouldn't have had if they were in their comfort zone.' These meetings were turned into songs at home in Lisbon once the main ideas were created collaboratively elsewhere. 'On this album, like in everything else I did so far, the focus on the instrumental side of things was experimenting with rhythmic patterns and genres from the Portuguese-speaking universe while applying them to songs created with other artists from completely different backgrounds and places.' There's something in this process that has left the album sounding super fresh as this is a sound without borders that pulls you in. It's music everyone can be a part of, where even the most rugged up-tempo cut sounds welcoming. It's an overwhelmingly positive and joyous experience to immerse yourself in 'Nosso.' It's no wonder that the central motif of the album artwork shows a less common view of Lisbon, one where instead of looking at the historic city centre we face the suburbs, where these musical and cultural experiments have been and still are occurring, undeniably shaping the musical and cultural landscape of Lisbon in the process. As much a soul record as it is a record infused with the beats of the Portuguese-speaking world, 'Nosso' is a reflection of Branko's ongoing musical explorations and his vision of Lisbon as a privileged cultural hub for the Portuguese-speaking world and beyond. Branko fuses local rhythms from kizomba to baile funk and afrohouse through European electronic genres with a clear accessible pop sensibility and the aim of creating a unified sound that puts all these individual musical expressions in perspective as part of a greater whole. For João, this is the logical next step in his musical evolution.

Following up his last full-length opus ('Mirror/Mirror'), 'Deep Clues' showcases Brian's studio and lyric songwriting prowess, using a variety of analog keyboards, drum machines, and guitars to create a singer/songwriter approach to modern funk and modern soul. Recorded and arranged to retain a live feel, each track takes you on a new journey through Brian's mind and experiences, creating very emotional and personal sentiments, and commentating on and commemorating modern life, love, and music.

'Deep Clues' starts the LP off with a vintage vibe, an introductory Rhodes-esque theme reminiscent of a bygone televised media era...before detouring right into the full-length track 'Bulletproof', a warm and hazy ode to being steadfast in love. 'Here I Am' truly takes on a library-prog-jazz-funk guise, dowsed in glowing synth layers and accompanied by Brian's shredding solo guitar work, and displaying unfettered and uncompromising wit within the lyrics. 'Brand New Love' is an arena rock-style ballad, featuring 'back to back' harmonic guitar leads and lyrics that personify the feelings that arise when entering a new love affair. 'My Favorite Song' is the lead single of the LP, an anthem for the fantasy California lifestyle of parties and free living, accompanied by your favorite tunes. Cruising along like it's title suggests, 'Night Drive' weaves together hypnotic guitar lines, while chugging through Ellis' manic worries and thoughts, attempting to get away from it all. 'Fantasy' is a powerful critique of modern culture and our ability to edit or shape our realities to suit whatever it is we already believe or want to believe. 'Never Had Nothin'' is a sparse and heavy drum machine and synth closer, a down and out anthem that beckons those end-of-the-night lighters to come out and light up the air, cherishing the past, present and future.

Jeunesse 7 - Hobbies Galore Tape

Over the course of his first two releases, Jeunesse 7 wants to tell the tale of the 6 Jeunesses that preceded him.

'Hobbies galore', an effort to describe the lives of Jeunesse 5 and 6, is the logical follow-up to Nividic. These lives happened to be longer than the previous ones; successes and failures led to fuller, richer and more exciting chapters. The two sides of the tape patiently narrate a journey through different landscapes and let you follow the two Jeunesses as they spend their days with various hobbies, from calmer, soothing ones to more active and exhausting ones.

The tracks are charmingly lo-fi and warm; the beats slow and crackly.

Keys are Benedikt Frey and Chris Cox, the front and rear covers of a lucid
narrative of an incomprehensible nature. Substance induced Hara-kiri, a human
consciousness leaving it's temporary and insignificant vessel, a motorcycle ride
through the sands of a desolate Martian desert or a twisted eternity dissolved
inside Pandora's Box. These are just a few of the scenes effortlessly evoked by
the epic yet somehow erotic omnibus of slow-motion electronica that is Voltage.
In a time dominated by robotic beat and melody, this 8 part expedition away from
the dancefloor may surprise, disorientate and hypnotise. Allow Keys to seal you
in their infinite vacuum of flirtatious melancholia.

Lavascar - Garden of Memory

Lavascar is a sound and music project by creative instigator and provocateur Michèle Lamy, multi-disciplinary artist Nico Vascellari and Lamy's daughter, the artist Scarlett Rouge.

Following the release of their debut album A Dream Deferred in 2017 - which was inspired by Langston Hughes' poem Montage Of A Dream Deferred, the trio will release new album Garden Of Memory through The Vinyl Factory label.

Drawing on the work of Lebanese-American poet, journalist and artist Etel Adnan, Garden Of Memory explores the tension between the organic and industrial, layering both Rouge and Lamy's idiosyncratic delivery over Vascellari's ambient and EBM-influenced electronics. After Vascellari described the debut LP as 'an evocation of Michèle Lamy sitting in a cave, surrounded by wild beasts ready to devour her', Lamy says the new record has loftier concerns: 'So far it seems like we are more in the cosmos... We are coming out of the hole!' Lamy continues: 'I like poetry, I don't like when there is sentence that tells you everything, I like suggestion.' It was for this reason that Lamy was drawn to the 93-year-old Adnan - 'a woman explaining what's going on in life. We can say everything is political, this is especially important.' It's a sentiment that Scarlett Rouge echoes: 'She wrote political poetry, and she is a journalist, so that's why I think when Michèle discovered her there was an immediate sense that this is now what needs to be felt and said.'

Lcd Soundsystem - Confuse The Marketplace

This iconic vinyl EP from LCD Soundsystem has not been in print and for sale since 2012.

Originally released in 2007, the EP contains two non-LP tracks, including the 12 and a 1/2 minute slo-mo disco workout 'Freak Out / Starry Eyes' and the instrumental burner 'Hippie Priest Bum Out' (made popular on 'Fabriclive 36: Murphy and Mahoney').

There is also a devilishly acidic rework of 'North American Scum' by James Murphy himself.

Beautiful cover art design by Mike Vadino.

Le Stèle Des Pleurs - La Voix Des Vieux Temps LP

Despite sounding like an 80's cassette only wave outfit La Stèle des Pleurs is a contemporary band from the north parisian suburbs.

They're mostly inspired by the underground tape scene of this period and use a 100% analogue set from synth and drums machines to tape recorders according to their unkwnown masters.

The 7 tracks of this mini-LP are only instrumentals somewhere between the melancholia of Enno Velthuys and the heady sound of Stratis. Their music seems untouched by contemporary world and influences, recorded in order to compose their own enigmatic but familiar universe.

Gloomy landscapes and feelings may appear but surrounded by a glimpse of hope.

Limited to 300 copies.

'Två' is the latest album from Malmö-based artist Singular. Electronica with acoustic piano as a starting point, we find ourselves in a borderland of contrasts, acoustic &, electronic, simple &, complex, rhythm &, melody. The sound world has influences from both electronica, pop, jazz and art music. The goal is to achieve harmony between the shine and the sharp, the light and the heavy. Simple and effective melodies are placed in complex, often slightly skewed and chafing, sound environments. The end result is a singular vision in the form of an imaginative and multi-faceted sound experience.

Ultra (Orlando Voorn) - Planet Ultra - The Lost Tracks

In 1997 legendary producer Orlando Voorn delivered two tracks for the Get Lost and Past-Present+Future compilations, as well as the idea of a full length album for his Ultra moniker. This was completed in 1998 shortly before the initial shutdown of Multiplex. Some tracks were scattered onto other releases, but this Planet Ultra EP is compiled of five previously unreleased compositions from the Multiplex album of the same name, plus the Barwork track - finally on vinyl after more than twenty years.

DJing since at the age of 12, he won the Dutch DMC championships in '86. Going on to produce a multitude of club bangers since the early 90's. Spanning many genres, his short lived Ultra alias was reserved for a deep electro vibe.

On ice for two decade these classic electro tracks reference the early UK breakbeat of the 90's as well as the obvious sci-fi connection. To that effect we kick off with "Teflon" and "Plasma", followed by the funky "In The Galaxy" which adds a touch of Herbie Hancock. On the flip side "Ultra Light" evolves to an all-encompassing, atmospheric trip, before the deep "Barwork" and finally "Open".

01.03.2019

A Detroit ghettotech style of dancing is called the jit, which relies heavily on fast footwork combinations, drops, spins and improvisations. It originated from 'the Jitterbug,' a stateside dance style from the 40's that became a worldwide sensation by way of US soldiers spreading it during WW2, quickly getting banned by authorities on account of being rude, vulgar and against the interests of the war effort. The movements are characterized by a highly energetic and ecstatic movements, and the frenetic mixing style reflects the highly improvisational nature of the dance, and the DJ's who spin ghettotech wildly blend together chicago juke and footwork, jungle, miami bass, electro, hard techno. This is the first in a series of Jit compilations transmitted from planet Detroit and beamed directly into the ghetto of your mind. Elevated Jit is dedicated to the jitters and and to the loving memory of Andre 'Erotek' Brown. Jit the Planet !

The entire tape was made using a cursed Roland Sp404 sx, filled with broken beats, warped vocal samples and playful synths and glitches. We introduce Comfort Zone, a young producer from Montreal, who has been making music for around 7 years now. He is inspired by "music from late 90s/early 00s video game soundtracks and the occasional snippets of electronic music I heard as a kid". We find that statement very much reflected in this release, as he masters the challenge of blending mysterious samples and different styles to form harmonious compositions.
On one side of the 4-track EP we have 2 groovy House tracks, reminiscent of early 2000s House by the likes of Lance DeSardi, Ian Pooley and Atjazz, on the other side 2 classic Jungle tracks which uphold our tradition of releasing timeless music.

The meditative New Age album Sojourn reshaped including unearthed tracks from the archives produced in that time frame now for a long time overdue worldwide release ! Young, the percussionist and marimba player in the seminal New York art-wave group, recorded a series of cassette-only releases in the '80s after Liquid Liquid disbanded. A couple of these were picked up at the time for Korean release, which is where Daehan Electronics, a South Korea-based label dedicated to tracing the history of electronic music in the land of the morning calm, comes in. Sojourn was one of these albums, part of a biorithmically-aligned New Age serie, each one meant to be heard on specific days of the week. ALLCHIVAL
16.01.2020

Very Limited Clear Vinyl Version

Having sold his instruments to fund a nomadic 1970s lifestyle, eccentric Irish experimentalist Michael O’Shea was forced to create his own handmade answer to the sitars and zelochords he’d become accustomed to playing on his travels around the globe.

Using an old door, 17 strings, chopsticks and combining them with phasers, echo units and amplification, the new device was to become his signature sound, mixing Irish folk influences with Asian and North African sounds in a mesmerising and soulful new way that brought him to the attention of the leading improvisers of his day - Alice Coltrane, Ravi Shankar, Don Cherry and more.

A logical follow up to AllChival’s recent reissue of Stano's debut LP, Michael O’Shea’s self titled LP was originally released on Wire's Dome Imprint in 1982.

The background to the album is as interesting and inspiring as the artist who created it - born in Northern Ireland but raised in the Republic, O’Shea was keen to travel and escape the troubles of his home.

Wandering throughout Europe and the Middle East, O’Shea found himself living and working as a relief aid in Bangladesh in the mid Seventies where he learned to play sitar while recovering from a bout of hepatitis. A later period spent busking in France accompanied on zelochord by Algerian musician Kris Hosylan Harp led to O’Shea’s idea of combining both instruments as a homebuilt instrument - Mo Chara Irish for "My Friend".

He later described the process on the back of the LP himself saying:

"Having sold my sitar in Germany and being desperate for money to travel to Turkey, I conceived of the idea of combining both sitar and zelochord. The first Mo Cara was born, taken from the middle of a door, which was rescued from a skip in Munchen"

A combination of dulcimer, zelochord and sitar, O Shea would play it with a pair of chopsticks, striking the strings softly using Irish folk rhythms mixed with the rich, nostalgic sounds of of the many Asian artists he’d encountered on his travels.

It was a pan cultural sound standing at an unusual crossroads of folk, traditional, rock, progressive, jazz, electronic and post-punk worlds without hesitation.

Perfecting the instrument on the streets, there were further spells spent busking in the underground stations and cafes of London's West End and Covent Garden during the heady days of the 1970s when they were full of eccentric street entertainers, jazz improvisers and musical pioneers.

His work with Rick Wakeman never saw the light of day but O’Shea’s contact with the world of post-punk London ensured his name would live on.

Introduced to Wire's Bruce Gilbert and Graham Lewis via cartoonist Tom Johnston, O’Shea eventually acquiesced to an open invite to record at their studio. Turning up unannounced in the summer of 1981 the LP was recorded in a day in the legendary Blackwing Studios and released on Dome the year after.

The first side features the fifteen minute masterpiece "No Journeys End" with the B side featuring more input from Wire in processing the Mo Chara sound.

Lewis himself said years later of the forgotten masterpiece: “I always said it was the best job we ever did.”

After an aborted LP with The The's Matt Johnson the following year, O’Shea quietly disappeared from the formal recording world and his brief but unique contribution to the music world came to a sad end in 1991 when O’Shea was struck by a post van and died a few days later in hospital in London.

This repress on All City’s AllChival imprint has been remastered and reissued with the approval of both Dome and his surviving siblings.

Pavel Milyakov - La Maison De La Mort

'Pavel Milyakov aka Buttechno is mostly known for his brilliant take on dance music, but we're also big fans of his avant-garde ambient material. This LP combines the amorphous electronic soundscapes of Artemiev with the strangeness of Chiastic-Slide Autechre and the beautiful expansiveness of Pete Kember's best work. It could be a spiked film noir soundtrack... and it's also great because it sounds like a late night walk around Moscow (at least to us).'

Nineties collective Repeat started out as Mark Broom, Andy Turner and Ed Handley, with Dave Hill joining in later on. Ed and Andy, of course, also recording as Plaid and also still members of Black Dog Productions, with whom they recorded albums closely before and after this one. The result is a hard to categorise album that breaks all the rules and draws on IDM, techno, ambient, house and electro to make for nine tracks of atmospheric analogue music that still sounds fresh and in a world of its own.

Roots In Heaven - Sang Des Betes / Affaire Des Rats

Roots In Heaven is a Berlin-based act that could very easily capitalize on his past accomplishments within the world of intrepid electronic music. As a label owner, resident DJ at cutting-edge clubs, and accomplished solo artist behind a number of conceptually unique full-length albums, the conceiver of this project won't likely need any introduction to the intrepid fans of electronic music. As an extension of this artist's already solid commitment to deep sound, Roots in Heaven represents a new voyage without the help of biographical cues to his listeners: hidden behind an evocative mesh mask lined with obsidian feathers, Roots in Heaven ignores the need to provide 'social proof' or self-justification. He communicates purely through the language of concentrated sensory impression, for which reason he has titled his debut, 'Petites Madeleines,' after one of the most memorable descriptive sequences in literary history (the famous meditation on the madeleine from Proust's À la recherche du temps perdu). As a prelude to the first full-length, Roots In Heaven has issued an untitled EP as a resounding 'shot across the bow'. However, this record is no half-conceived experiment to see what works and what doesn't, nor does it even feel like an 'EP' (in the traditional meaning of being a précis whose full report is available elsewhere). Attentive listening to its contents can cause a kind of time dilation, and a mysterious feeling of entering a world where familiar dualities (nature vs. technology, action vs. contemplation) are replaced by a feeling of total immanence. The A-side, 'Sang des Betes", accomplishes this with cascading, viscous layers of electronic tones that narrow and widen, rise and fall like the breath of some ancient entity. Periodically, bright flashes of tone arc across the horizon of the sound space, emphatically present but also elusive.

Amir Abbey aka Secret Pyramid has become one of the most relevant names of the contemporary ambient music. This artist, established in Vancouver, has found in the night solitude his natural place to compose his electronic poems.
Students Of Decay label reissued his first two masterpieces in vinyl, The Silent March and Movements Of Night, which where issued originally in casette. Now, Gailur Records has the honour of reissuing Distant Works I & II.
Distant Works I was recorded in the same sessions as The Silent March in 2011, and Distant Works II in 2016. This lapse of time between these works perfectly shows the musical evolution of Secret Pyramid. While in the first part we find two long tracks of ambient/drone full of warm landscapes, the second one shows a global concept closer to an album, with shorter pieces, more minimalistic and with more of an intimistic character.

Line Explorations
07.03.2019

Line Explorations present its first release - a compilation consisting of six tracks by six national artists, producing under the names of T'iwu, HTL, PX, emme, AMSH and Mensaje Sanador, serving as a sampler for what's to come in the future on the label and the sounds the label will evoke such as techno, IDM, ambient, noise, drone and experimental vibrations from the further avant-garde,

The first track focuses on growing an organic and everyday sonic scape with the use of chords and melodies filled with light touch - reminiscent of clear skies and sunshine - which creates an ambient feel similar to that of daily vibrations of life as presented and explored by T'iwu.

HTL enhances the depth of the reflections of today's emotions one can feel by delving deeper into everyday surroundings and exploring the noise/drone side of the ambient musical styles by mixing melodic elements with the out of the ordinary effects which shock and ululate while shaping the musical texture into a darker and deeper atmosphere.

The following track, by PX, elevates the atmosphere into a more jovial soundscape full of '80's inspired electronica and sci-fi soundtracks. The beat rolls off and twists in a funky groove helping develop a danceable pace for the release.

On top of that, emme presents the fourth track - in the shape of techno meets breaks - where more classical elements of industrially influenced electronic music can be traced from yesteryears. The sounds engulf in warmly distorted melodic strings while flowing over and under the rhythmic structure.

In contrast, AMSH's ''Subway'' presents a downpour of heavy sounds, such as noise influenced synths and delayed infected percussion, along with field recording of trains help envision the movement of a manmade machine and its flow through the undergrounds of today's world.

The final piece, of the label's initial release, comes in the shape of a Mensaje Sanador or healing message. The track takes on the elements of the three titles that have preceded it and explores further the dynamics between current and classical sounds of the electronic dance music genres by delving deeper into sound synthesis, melodies and rhythm as to help one submerge further into exploring such sounds, their history and the future to come.

Death in Vegas - You Disco I Freak Remixes

- Coming off Transmission, Death in Vegas's critically acclaimed 6th album which saw the band collaborating with Sasha Grey, are three unique remixes by Silent Servant and Rudolf Klorzeiger.

- Silent Servant delivers two stunning mixes of You Disco I Freak. In his first remix he elevates the discordant melody in You Disco I Freak and adds a sense of menace with a new sequence, taking the track in a more sinister direction. With his second version, he takes the heat up a notch with a brutal workout synonymous with his signature abrasive sound.

- Dopplereffekt, Drexciya, Arpanet, Der Zyklus, Japanese Telecom, Heinrich Mueller, Rudolf Klorzeiger: Death in Vegas are huge fans of Gerald Donald in all his forms. He choose to 'reproduce' Metal Box, keeping certain elements of the original field recordings, the sounds of the Steel Factory opposite Drone's studio, the incessant drones from the planes landing at City Airport and the dial tones of the studio's VHF radio and layered over these with his own sonic tapestry.

MAYa & Tolga Baklacioglu - Kina

Maya&Tolga Baklacioglu

Kina

2x12inchVENT017
VENT
04.03.2019

Chemistry between individuals is an amorphous and elusive notion. It is usually seen as something that occurs between two people who are sharing a physical space, with access to each other's body language and energy. However, modern technology has provided many other opportunities for chemistry to blossom and be explored and this record is just one example of that: Vent is proud to present Kina, a double LP of musical collaborations between MAYa and Tolga Baklacioglu.

Tolga Baklacioglu is an associate professor in aeronautical engineering. He is also a musician. For several years, he has been steadily building a body of work that explores the outer boundaries where techno and abstract textures merge and blur. In 2014, Tolga created a label, VENT, as a platform for his explorations and those of likeminded travelers within this sonic realm.

MAYa Hardinge works in film. She is also a musician. She has collaborated with numerous artists. Beginning in 2008, She released 4 EPs under her solo guise MAYa. Considering her background in film, it comes as no surprise that her work has a strong visual element. Pre- dating Beyonce´'s Lemonade by many years, her last two EPs were visual albums made in

collaboration with various directors.

It makes total sense that MAYa and Tolga should have made an album together. Their interests and backgrounds overlap and diverge meaningfully in a way that has all the hallmarks of good musical chemistry. There is however one unusual element to their collaboration: they have never met. Tolga lives in Eskisehir (Turkey) and MAYa lives in New York City.

Always on the look out for inspiration and new collaborators, Tolga stumbled across MAYa's videos online. What he saw and heard inspired him to reach out and contact her. After some correspondence they decided to experiment with the prospect of making music together. Perhaps deprived of the traditional notions of chemistry defined by proximity, they found inspiration across time and space in the name of exploration and discovery. Tolga began by sending MAYa files of beats and ambiance. Upon finding the ones that spoke to her, MAYa went to work disassembling, adding, subtracting and rearranging. MAYa's work would then go back to Tolga, a world away, for further input and then back again. In this way each track was painstakingly constructed and a true chemistry was born. One built on sensitivity, support and honest artistic communication. In a word: LISTENING.

The songs cover a broad spectrum of topics, from the deeply personal feelings and experiences, to world events, and the fundamental aspects of life and death. Kina is a document of two artists from different backgrounds and their shared visions of the interplay

between one's private microcosm and the global macrocosm of our time; a testament to the fact that, for all its vastness and diversity, this world offers inspiration and potential collaboration around every corner. The music contained within has traveled around the world many times before reaching your ears. As MAYa and Tolga have done before, it is now your turn to LISTEN.

Netsh - Neural Netshworks 2x12"

In this compelling debut release, NETSH takes the listener on a one-way trip to his world with his own unique take on acid, braindance, electro, jungle and even a dash of hardcore. Frenzied breakbeats, thick and melodic 303 sequences, ass-shaking drum programming along with deep and lush pads are the constant on this record, coherent and diverse a the same time, which tells a lot about the young producer's musical maturity.

Indigenous Electronic
01.03.2019

Indigenous Electronic is proud to present for its third release: 'THIXOTROPY EP', produced and recorded by 'Quan'.

Starting out from more of a conventional musical platform; Quan in recent years turned his attention to live performance, and by 2018 had already played two Boiler Rooms in his native Vietnam. In addition to recording and performing live, Quan has begun a parallel journey in building his own eurorack modules some of which were used on this debut vinyl release of his. The EP which flies in the face of traditional loop structured song formats, present the hard to find confluence of musicality with technical knowledge.

With early support from XDB, and produced and recorded entirely out the box this is one not to be missed.

THE VIBRATORS - Baby Baby b/w Into The Future... 7'

The Vibrators were one of the original UK first-wave punk-rock groups, playing legendary shows at London's Roxy Club, and the late great BBC DJ John Peel was an early fan, recordings sessions with the group for his radio show as early as 1976. Their 1977 debut album Pure Mania is an all-time punk rock classic and one of the most immediately catchy and tough releases of its era. Featuring two great tracks off this album, the classic 1977 single "Baby Baby" b/w "Into The Future..." is reissued here on a limited edition picture disc this April.

Zombie Zombie - L'Heure de la Sortie

t's been a year since the last album of the French duo Zombie Zombie « Livity » came out on their historic label Versatile Records, since they explored other territories by producing two movie soundtracks : one for « Loubia Hamra » by Narimane Mari and « Irreprochable » by Sébastien Marnier as well as the music of a contemporary circus show « Slow Futur » by Martin Palisse and Elsa Guérin.

It was during their last tour that they composed and produced the new soundtrack for Sébastien Marnier's new feature film « L'heure de la Sortie ».

This is a second collaboration between the group and this director. This electronica soundtrack will delight Zombie Zombie fans with his oppressive yet surrealistic atmosphere, and without revealing so much the shadow of Patti Smith is not far this time and will surprise more than one.

Black Mountain Transmitter - Black Goat Of The Woods

Released on CD by Aurora Borealis back in 2010, we're overjoyed to finally see this on vinyl.
- limited edition of 300 copies - 180g black vinyl - reverse board heavyweight sleeve - includes download code and printed insert - mastered for vinyl by James Plotkin - cut at The Carvery, London
An ode to the Lovecraftian lore of Shub Niggurath, 'Black Goat of the Woods' was conceived as "the soundtrack from some lost low budget horror movie, rediscovered on an old and faded VHS cassette found mouldering in a deserted house in the depths of the woods".
The one man project of J.R Moore, Black Mountain Transmitter has released several albums, all to great critical acclaim, and the quality of his work speaks volumes. The original AB 'Black Goat of The Woods' CD version was the first official release and a reissue of the long sold out and much sought after limited CDr.
On describing the recording, Moore said: "The music was certainly very much influenced by that certain breed of 70s horror films. Things like the soundtrack to the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", Giuliano Sorgini's atmospheres in "Living Dead At The Manchester Morgue"; Carl Zittrer's soundscapes in "Deranged", "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things" and "Dead Of Night", and of course people like Fabio Frizzi in Italian horror and the BBCs Radiophonic Workshop's electronic sounds in something like "The Stone Tape" and countless creepy old TV productions..."
An excellent, macabre and psychedelic release that spans electronica, soundtracks and experimental genres in its 40 minute playing time, 'Black Goat of the Woods' pays perfect homage to the dark denizen of the nocturnal glades, and is a true paean to backwoods horror.

13.08.2018

Celer is the alias of Will Long, an american musician settled in Tokyo. Under this pseudonym he has released lots of albums for over 10 years, mostly self-edited or published by his own Two Arcons label, being one of the most prolific musicians of the ambient/drone scene. Fan of the analogic sound, his music levitates between overlaped melancholic layers of delays, tapes, reverbs,... creating a sonic monotony in constant movement.

Shima was created along with Jima (I, Absentee. 2015), but it wasn't recorded until 2016. Like most of his work, the album comes from an emotion that repeats itself infinitely until it takes our conscience to an hypnotic state of mind. The different layers of filtered sound mix out and evolve inwardly, like the experiences of our existence, contributing to amazing landscapes where we can lose ourselves completely.

Scratcha DVA x Gage - Flytnurse / Piff'd

Keysound Recordings are excited to present three very unique cuts from Scratcha DVA x Gage: 'FLYTNURSE,' 'PIFFD' and 'FLYTNURSE (DARQMIX)'. Dark, euphoric, weighty, and somewhat restless, they defy obvious categorisation. Gage has made himself a formidable reputation by releasing some of the most forward-thinking darker dance music in the last three years, predominantly on the ever-quality Crazy Legs imprint. 'Telo' was a standout dancefloor moment, equal parts impactful and experimental, quickly followed up by the "Mercury EP," "2017 STAY PARO" and his banger-collab with Kevin Jz Prodigy, "Bad Bitch." Scratcha DVA first appeared on Keysound 66 releases ago with the explosive dread grime anthem 'Bullet A'Go Fly' featuring Badness, Riko, Flowdan and Killa P. But in truth he has a lengthy production back catalogue both before and after that 12', with albums on Hyperdub, his new 'Interludes' project and a track on the recent landmark Kode9 & Burial Fabriclive 100 CD.

SDH - Semiotics Department Of Heteronyms LP

SDH (Semiotics Department of Heteronyms) is the new project of two key figures of the synth-wave/industrial scene of Barcelona. Andrea P. Latorre and Sergi Algiz, founders of the Cønjuntø Vacíø label and also in the post-punk band Wind Atlas, unveil a new act more oriented towards pop music. SDH is change, alteration, distortion, metamorphosis. Their synth-pop songs, sprinkled with EBM and techno, are mysterious, obtuse and suggestive. The project seems to revolve around the idea of fiction. What is the language of feigned personalities What is fiction An individual is one and another, is liquid. It is physical. Incarnating someone is doing it in a corporeal way: making it flesh. Conceive: everything is real: reality does not exist. How is a fiction embodied They have already supported artists such as Marie Davidson and Merchandise and performed at the Swedish festival Kalabalik På Tyrolen, one of the reference festivals of the darkwave scene.

Tor Lundvall - A Strangeness In Motion: Early Pop Recordings 1989-1999

As a visual artist and ambient composer, Tor Lundvall's work often recontextualizes the familiarity of everyday life through abstraction and space. Starting with the snapshot of a moment, Lundvall extracts its underlying complexity of the seemingly mundane and gives sleeping suggestion a presence and purpose. Mainly working sans vocals, Lundvall returned to voice exploration for 2018's A Dark Place, a somber, dark synth album that merged his mastery of textural ambience with traditional pop structures.

Rescued from old DAT tapes A Strangeness In Motion: Early Pop Recordings 1989-1999 are some of Lundvall's earliest completed synth pop works which have remained unreleased until now.

Though Lundvall's work throughout the collection has the recognizable ambient bones and sensibilities he has refined throughout his career, many of the tracks call back to the synth-driven pop of Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, The Human League and New Order, with the common thread being the sparse density and mood created by reservation and the lonely impulse to twist convention, not to rip it up and repurpose it. Rather than 10 disparate ideas, Lundvall's curation of A Strangeness In Motion: Early Pop Recordings 1989-1999 feels like excerpts from a broader work, allowing the listener to fill in the holes and ladder up to his larger themes and concepts, perhaps coloring his prior works in new hues and tones.

'For years I dismissed these songs as naive and youthful relics, but I've grown much fonder of them in recent years along with the memories they evoke,' he says of the decade spanning collection of tracks, many of which were sketched out in his duo with Drew Sullivan, After The Outing. 'Original One', 'Procession Day', 'The Clearing', and 'The Melting Hour' are present here as solo reworkings, originally culled from his sessions with Sullivan. The remaining songs were ideas originally considered for Passing Through Alone (1997) and its proposed follow up, provisionally and playfully titled Femalamania.

'The title was summing up my girl problems at the time and also a silly word spin on Robyn Hitchcock's Fegmania!' he says. 'Sadly, the project was abandoned—a rare decision for me and perhaps the only time I've scrapped an album entirely.'

The Breaking Of A Storm. These Are All Relevant Ideas Behind His Choice Of A Title For This Highly Emotional Abum. Fuller Has Addressed The Universality Of Human Struggle Without Going Into Specifcs Of His Own Personal Waves. The Ideas That We As Humans All Share Many Of The Same Diffculties Is Both A Launching Point And A Message He Wishes To Share With Break — The Catharsis.
While Illuha's Music Is Known For Its Attention To Small Sounds And Light Textures, Break, While Equally As Fragile, Sees Fuller Working With Much Heavier Elements. Still Highly Melodic, The Work Pulls And Churns Between Harmony And Tension, Weight And Air, The Crash Of A Wave, The Pull Of The Undertoe. The Album Is Focused Intensely On Melody And Harmony, Progressions More Carefully Composed Than The Serendipitous Found Sound Of His Work With Illuha.
The Piano Is Often At The Center Of These Songs, An Instrument (his Own) That Has Become Much An Extension Of His Own Body. His Own Voice Plays An Important Role As Well, Sometimes Lyrically Ethereal And Sometimes Just A Breath Signifying The Ever-fragile Thread Of Life. Beautifully Recorded
In His Tokyo Studio, The Sounds Are Captured With All Of Their Inherent Physical Faws. As Fuller Himself States About The Piano Being recorded In A Way That You Can Hear The Bones, Like An Open Ribcage, Moving Contorting...' Everything On Break Is There For A Reason, Not Just The Sound And Soul Of The Piano But The Electronic Elements As Well, Rattling Bass Tones And Dramatic, Emotional Waves Of Synthesizer Rising And Dissolving.

For its fifth release Planet Euphorique puts forward Australian-born, London-based Nite Fleit's latest release, Overcast. Her second record, Overcast is a teeth-baring soundscape guided by commanding, rhythmic spells. STEPHEN VITIELLO & TAYLOR DEUPREE - FRIDMAN VARIATIONS

Both Stephen Vitiello and Taylor Deupree are seasoned collaborators. Each new collaboration is a new context, a new conversation and a unique opportunity to learn. Vitiello has worked with musicians such as Scanner, Steve Roden, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Machinefabriek. As an artist often
represented in galleries and large scale sound installations he has also had the frequent opportunity to work with visual artists from the likes of Tony Oursler to Julie Mehretu and Joan Jonas. Deupree has a long history of collaboration including early works with Christopher Willits and Richard Chartier as well as Marcus Fischer, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Bon Iver's S. Carey. Fridman Variations is Vitiello and Deupree's third release
together and continues their tradition of exploring their unique form of experimental improvisation.
Stemming from a live performance at NYC's Fridman Gallery, Fridman Variations was co-produced by the gallery and will remain as part of the gallery's publications. Fridman Gallery is a visual exhibition space that also boasts a unique dedication to experimental music through their annual New Ear Festival, at which Vitiello and Deupree performed and recorded the main piece for this album.
Side A of Fridman Variations is the live recording, edited for vinyl while side B contains two pieces made with some of the same source material as the live performance and intended to be related, but entirely new, works. Guitar, modular synthesizer and a small tape synthesizer are at the heart of these songs. The improved layers draw on buried melodies and hint of feld recordings and found textures. Not overly melodic, not
overly noisy, Vitiello and Deupree like to fnd the edge between the pretty and the obscure, often suggesting more than laying their intentions bare. This type of sound is one that the duo often explores as an opportunity for Deupree to adventure beyond his melodic comfort zone and for Vitiello to work and experiment with new instruments and how they interact with his signature guitar.
One of the biggest inspirations to the artists for this work was the hushed and dreamy state of the audience during the performance. The late-night ambience added to the immersive quality of the surround speakers and helped to channel creativity and a sense of sharing
Both artists feel that recording live performances is an opportunity to capture a unique moment that simply won't happen again. Despite a performance's faws or imperfections the energy and interaction is a special moment in time for the performers and audience. The opportunity to not only document it for the listeners who were present but also to be able to share the moment with those who weren't there is a positive one.
To further be able to expand on the ideas in the controlled studio environment serves to enrich the experience and further the communication.

Exterior - Plagued Streets Of Pity

'Best electronic live set i've seen in two years!' CHRIS CUSACK (BOOKER, BLOC GLASGOW)

Fresh and heady slice of cerebral techno and out-there electro flavours.

EXTERIOR is the artist moniker of Edinburgh producer Doug MacDonald. Exterior represents his transition to electronic music and an embrace of the dancefloor. Doug played hardcore and noise-rock for a long time before eventually abandoning collaboration, nostalgia and formulaic rebellion in favour of synthesis. What he gained on the way was an understanding of the power of live drumming and years of finely honed performance-skills, something of an aberration in dance music.

Exterior thus represents a convergence of disparate personal and musical pleasures. Accordingly Exterior draws on rhythmic mavericks as divergent as Fugazi//Battles//Swans as well as DJ Spoko//Clark//Hieroglyphic Being. In addition, there is a deep undercurrent of melody and texture, drawing on the likes of Burial//Miles Davis//Bjork. Eschewing the modern home computer in favour of an exclusively hardware based approach, Exterior espouses a physical relationship to what is at heart an abstract practice, composing electronic dance music.

Perhaps it's unsurprising, then, that one of the things which really sets Exterior apart is his intoxicating live show. He gets the crowd going every single time he performs, so infectious is his energy, as he throws shapes and struts his stuff behind the gear, clearly 100% in the moment and his element.

His debut EP 'Public Transport' was released on London/Barcelona-based Land Recordings earlier in 2018. Having made his international headlining debut in Berlin in September, more continental sorties are currently being arranged (see below).

This record represents a significant move forward in sophistication and club-readiness.

On remix duties, anonymous analogue techno lover DALI returns on the back of four slices of extended club gear released via two Hobbes Music 12"s (2017-18), boasting colour-themed, screen-printed sleeves and an uber-simple design for that evergreen minimal aesthetic with a hint of mystique. These gained excited support/plays from the likes of Ben UFO, Nina Kraviz, Daniel Avery, DJ Deep, Laurent Garnier, Avalon Emerson, Twitch, XDB, Bill Brewster, Bawrut, Tom Findlay (Groove Armada) and many more... Clocking in (again) at just over 9 minutes, her 'Collapsing Star' remix is another marathon-length effort and does exactly what it says on the tin. Setting the beats to classic electro, everything's pushed hard until it all seems ready to fall rapidly apart (and it very nearly does), before dissolving in a fiery sizzle: a more visceral, dance floor accompaniment to Exterior's heady affair.

Jensen Interceptor - Mother LP 2x12"

After grinding his teeth with a solid 20-ish EPs on labels as diverse as Boysnoize Records, CPU, Private Persons, E-Beamz, Power Station, Cultivated Electronics and his own International Chrome imprint, Sydney-based producer Mikey Melas aka Jensen Interceptor clocks in on Lone Romantic with his debut full-length delivery, 'Mother' - a ten-track album featuring collabs alongside Defekt, Assembler Code and The Hacker.

A pulsating ode to the woman who brought him into the world, Melas' first album doesn't only function as an existential mirror, as you'll find him swimming upstream literally - wisely colliding techno, electro, breakbeat and acid while he reaches for the very heart of his artistic matrix: Detroit. 'Mother' is a journey back into the womb of things for Melas, seamlessly weaving the original chaos preceding composition with the impact the finished product will have at the tail gate, when the sound-system gets all wiggly blasting his finely honed, dancefloor-deadly missiles into the busy ears of some frantic crowd pouring sweat like weightwatchers' aficionadas at a robot-ruled fitness class.

Not just a string of club bangers accidentally brought together by a stranger's hungry will to draw out the pleasure, 'Mother' aims at telling a story within its breaks and rest moments as much as it clearly devotes itself to making people get into the zone on a liminal level with its heavy compound of aggro 303 drives, convulsive breaks and bleepy motifs. Triggering the wild dancing beast sleeping deep inside yourself as much as its emotive subconscious, Jensen Interceptor's debut plain format offering will undoubtedly set off heavy adrenaline rushes and unsuspected body response, as well as deliver quite a few emotional sequences that all very much feel like opening a capsule of earthly souvenirs after landing on a distant planet.

Thomas Gray & Liam Ebbs - 3 Days, 2 Nights

Austalia's Analogue Attic has grown to become one of the most beloved purveyors or emotive deep house, ambient and electronica in recent years via a steady stream of releases from the likes of label heads Albrecht La'Brooy, Sleep D and a selection of up and coming artists from their homeland.

Thomas Gray & Liam Ebbs:
"The tracks on the record were inspired by a journey to Barrington Tops, a national park in the Hunter Region of New South Wales. The music itself has a physical link to this area through the field recordings present in the songs and is also imbued with with many vague and wistful memories of the summer trip.
Sitting Atop Mount Allen as the sun rose over the distant hill tops, we were struck by the cyclical beauty of nature.
We were visitors in this place, where everything would continue as it was whether we were there to see it or not.
It is this feeling that perhaps influenced us the most in the writing of the record. It infuses organic with electronics, whilst also mimicking the concurrent sense of happiness and melancholy that is often associated with experiences of nature."

'Ladies Well' leads with plucked strings, airy ethereal chords, hypnotic field recordings at its core whilst organic percussion, jazzy piano lines and warm subs ebb and flow within.
'Heatherbrae' follows next, retaining a similarly dreamy aesthetic with swirling atmospherics, twinkling keys and jangling strings while tipping the rhythmic focus over to bumpy, broken, jazz-tinged drums.
Opening the flip side is 'Mount Allyn' which edges into a more psychedelic realms with billowing vocal textures, murky bass tones, shuffled drums and squelching 303 licks ahead of closing track 'Elegy For Nick's Car', which - as the name would suggest - employs a cinematic, orchestral feel with dynamic evolutions of strings, percussion and piano lines throughout.

Richu M - Philistines 4 And The Giant Banoush

Rotterdam-based Pole, Richu M, has been impressing with his scuzzy, eclectic output on Young Adults and Astropical that mixes dusty samples with hazy synths, ranging from wonky slo-mo house grooves to jazzy downtempo cuts.

He brings his colourful patchworks of sound to Monologues for a beautiful mini-album, complete with superb artwork from the man himself.

Label boss G. Markus aka Ben Gomori steps up to give 'Sorry, I'm Not A DJ' a kick up the booty with a garage house flex.

Alien Nose Job - Buffet Of Love

After two private press punk singles, an indie pop LP on Anti Fade Records, we bring you an Italo Disco inspired LP from Suburban Boy Jake 'Alien Nosejob' Robertson.
Jake spent six months bedridden with crippling psoriatic arthritis, watching the Vivien Vee 'Higher' video on YouTube, mimicking the rhythms, the melody and wishing he could mimic the dance moves.
Two songs about love and two songs about hyper-intelligent extra-terrestrial beings.
This record is a trend-punk poison.

Bartosz Krunczynski & Poly Chain - Pulses

Soon after releasing their debut albums - Baltic Beat' and 'Music For Candy Shops' - and realizing similar interests and traits in their solo music, Zakrevska and KruczyÅ- ski sketched out a plan for an album and live performance. The record is to a large extent fashioned after the show, with most of the tracks performed live and edited down. 'Pulses' is a result of hours spent in studio with a minimal set-up of Prophet '08, Moog Sub 37 and Korg Minilogue; The work present their mutual attraction to minimal synth, repetitive arpeggios and drone music. A perfect blend of poly-rhythmic patterns, ambient textures and beat-less acid moments by one of the most fresh and unique collaborations!

Black Bombaim - Zone Of Resident Bodies
  • 1: W/ Luis Fernandes - 2080224
  • 2: W/ Pedro Augusto 017116
  • 3: W/ Jonathan Saldanha 20180415

Cardinal Fuzz and Lovers & Lollipops are proud to bring to you the new magnum opus from Black Bombaim titled 'Zone Of Resident Bodies'. Black Bombaim approached their latest creation with the mindset of pushing the boundaries of their musicianship by working with three different electronic composers in three unique recording settings -an old workers auditorium, a huge empty space on the postal office building and on a reverberation room on the university of engineering. Working with Jonathan Saldanha, Luís Fernandes, Pedro Augusto helped Black Bombaim break free of the constraints of a band in a recording studio as each new recording environment and composer brought new textures and ambiance to the music created. It really is rather special to hear.
'this is an amazing album of collaborations that I am sure has taken the participants outside of their respective comfort zones to produce a set that is innovative and explorative. You really will need to hear it all to fully appreciate its strength and breadth because it is outside those zones of familiarity where true expression can flourish... and flourish it certainly does here.' Bun The Grid
28.02.2019

Bun The Grid start 2019 off with an intensely loud bang coming in the form of label co- founder Bulu's first full outing on his own label. After producing music for 8 years, releasing a full EP on London label Fine Dining as well as his self-released Bulu Sound compilations, 2019 looks set to be a big year for Bulu with multiple releases lined up as well as a full LP in the pipeline.BTG005 starts out with Fiyah, a minimal yet beastly track packed with relentless sub elements and dominant percussion. Fiyah is quickly followed by Bulu's first collaboration with label co-founder Etch entitled Collide which is both unique and acute. A slow building intro of Bulu's ominous synth work quickly gets swallowed up by Etch's signature off grid percussion until Collide explodes into a barrage of both Bulu & Etch's influences in equal measures, relentlessly attacking both your ears and chest. Dark dominant zaps and razor sharp percussion are set to lay siege to any dance floor. Bulu finishes off the A-Side with Change Places a 176BPM throw back to wobbly dubstep with a more modern half time feel. In usual BTG style the B-Side contains solely remixes, this time taken on by newcomer J-Shadow, who is rumoured to have a massive release lined up on BTG in the near future. He takes Fiyah down to a different tempo bracket and plasters his unique sound all over the original elements making the track deeper, and slower building but just as vivid. Finally, one of the early BTG family, and now mainstay at Exit Records, Itoa takes Collide and rips it apart into an entirely new realm which can only be described as Itoa's unique blend of Bassline, Juke and Jungle, you truly have to listen to this one to understand.
The originals will be released physically and digitally whilst the remixes will be vinyl only.

Captain Hook - Origin

12.02.2019

'As an artist it's essential to be connected to your heart, to feel what it has to say. I felt my heart telling me in the past two years to connect to the roots of trance of which I grew up on. This path has led me to find my inner child - his passion for music before he became a DJ producer, his desire to consume pure music without fear or expectation of what people are expecting him to create. I've walked with this child together day after day into the studio, listening to his ideas, translating them into music created by a 35-year-old man. This was the creation process of my 3rd studio album (2nd as Captain Hook) 'Origin'.

Although I grew up in the psytrance culture and genre, influences from techno and bass music played a big role in the formation of my sound. The synthesis of these styles marked the beginning of something new, and the origin of the deep hypnotic progressive sound that is now at the core of my creation. Following my heart to where it was leading me was not always easy, since modern psytrance seems to be pointing producers towards very different soundscape directions. But believing in the path helped me to stay on it despite any doubts - and staying true to my sound allowed me to create my music with sincerity, serenity, and bliss. This internal journey has made it possible to reconnect with this genre all over again, adding a new perspective to its beautiful spectrum, and to myself.

I am very happy to present to you my upcoming album 'Origin', which you can now order as a truly unique 180g, 33RPM triple gatefold vinyl. The album presents 9 new tracks (track 1 has an added intro to welcome you into the Origin sound).' Captain Hook

Following the release of the 'Aset Forever' EP in September, Dusky announce Brame & Hamo and KETTAMA as remixers of EP tracks 'Amongst The Gods' and 'Staunch'.

On the 'Amongst The Gods' remix, Irish born, Berlin based duo Brame & Hamo bring distorted kicks and industrial percussion that are sprinkled with euphoric samples from the original, helping to provide an unequivocally rave ready flip.

Fellow Irishman, and rising star, KETTAMA takes the reigns on 'Staunch', turning the dark and brooding original into a thumping hard house epic punctuated with zapping synths and hefty percussion.

Ela Orleans - Movies For Ears

'With Ela's music I feel emotional, engaged... I can't help but feel she's always looking for a sense of belonging and it
seems to inform all the music that she makes. Glasgow must have more of that belonging feeling than most
cities because she's spent the most time here, an exotic bird in a rainy city she maybe finds a lttle bit of comfort in. It's
a pleasure to have her here, in this awful time to be living in Britain, her illuminations feel important and hopeful. A
stubborn light; someone making great timeless music out of the humdrum of the everyday.' - Stephen Pastel
Movies For Ears is a retrospective collection of works by Polish-born, Glasgow-based artist Ela Orleans which
navigates almost two decades of songwriting in the heart of the global pop underground. This remastered collection casts
an ear over what Orleans might call the 'pop sensibility' within her back catalogue. Released previously on a number of
small DIY labels, Orleans' music coincided with the explosion of auto-didactic musicians finding their voice in the age of
the blogosphere, artists emboldened by the democratisation of music-making afforded by the internet. From the outset,
Orleans' childhood studying formal music mixed with cut-up techniques, sampling, sound-art and experimentation to
create a distinctive signature cloaked in an innate melancholy and playfulness. Fully remastered by James Plotkin,
featuring extensive sleeve-notes and rare photos from Orleans' archive, Movies For Ears presents an appraisal of the
musician's work, painting a portrait of an artist with an uncanny ability to evoke emotions and ghosts of memories in the
listener.
Each song pulls sunshine from its surroundings, moments of pleasure plucked from eulogies. The Season employs a
hypnotic loop with Orleans's prophetic voice heralding the season we're doomed to repeat. In fact the singer is often cast
as the changing protagonist in her songs: on Walkingman, a hazy ballad heavy with ennui, the narrator is laden with the
world's weight, forever pacing a groundhog day world blank, a pissed-off actor in a Kafka-esque melodrama. On Light At
Dawn we're in a seedy kitsch bar-room go-go scene, a ghostly rock'roll romance with shimmering percussion, poledancing
in a Lynchian half-dream. Movies For Ears' moods straddle memory and fantasy: scratchily invoking halfremembered
exotica, the flickering shadows of europhile cinemas screens, a delicately woven world anchored in Orleans
existential meditations on longing, intimacy, solitude and the search for love. These rich textures in every song don't
overpower some crystalised moments of emotion however: on In Spring Orleans sings simply 'I have been happy two
weeks together,' summarizing that feeling of elation when emerging from a depression, a long winter. It's a moment that
perfectly illustrates the lightness of touch and clarity in the singer's voice.
The power of the loop and Orleans' weaving songwriting that breaks its spell is illustrated perfectly by I Know. Over an
aching chord progression, the vocal takes flight into bittersweet loneliness, Pachelbel's Canon played at a wedding where
only one person shows up. The repeated refrain 'I know, I know' ascends to the heavens as the chords descend to the
dumps and the listener is left in the middle, happy but not knowing why, maybe a little changed, two weeks together. On
Movies For Ears, Ela Orleans lets us into a secret: the rare moments of joy to be found in the joins of the loop, the spaces
between things, the spring after the winter are the moments that last after the day has faded.

ENA - Bridge

Bridge

12inchFIELD027
Field
29.06.2018

Dutch label Field Records is back with another special album project, this time from Japanese producer ENA aka Yu Asaeda. Bridge is an introspective soundtrack for a documentary also called Bridge - out this Spring - which is about the Dejima bridge, a reconstructed symbol of the Dutch-Japanese trading history in Nagasaki, Japan. The album finds the producer stepping outside of his usual remit of dark ambient and experimental music, and instead comprises ten shorter tracks that touch on abstract and rhythmic sounds that define the essence of Japanese culture. Although he has worked with the director before, this is ENA's first Original Sound Track and finds him freely inspired by the movie and heading in exciting and unknown directions. Hugely atmospheric throughout, there is hypnotic repetition of sounds, strange audio design and a mixture of melancholic moods with more dreamy synths. Sometimes gloopy rhythms gently ripple beneath soothing harmonies and at others times a micro-rhythm appears through the constantly shifting and evolving found sound loops. It's a compelling and unusual album that seamlessly mixes human emotions with a mechanical sense of industry.

Dj feedback:

Mano le Tough (Permanent Vacation): "Amazing sound"

Inverted Audio: "Subconsciously affecting, emotionally invigorating work here. Loving this."

DJ Mag LA: "This album shows that the of ENA sounds are an overflowing line that perfectly combines human emotions. Feel is the perfect word to define the entire album."

Jim O'Rourke & Not Waving - Side A / Side B

In a dream hook-up for Diagonal, Jim O'Rourke reimagines material from the vaults of Alessio Natalizia AKA Not Waving and turns in a magisterial kosmiche synth-scape, backed with a
sprawling slab of mazy rhythmic brilliance. O'Rourke has been a long-time admirer of Not Waving, and what started out as more of straight remix project quickly turned into a collaboration-at-
a-distance, with Natalizia sending extra material and pushing O'Rourke to stray as far from the original material as possible.
In both parts, he does him proud. 'Side A' renders an original chromatic synth knot into a spiralling, heavenly superstructure worthy of comparison with Popol Vuh, before the flip envelopes listeners in a hyper-baroque rave hall of mirrors — all iridescent arps and irregular, automated pulses that refract palatial imaginary spaces.
O'Rourke is, of course, a huge hero to Natalizia and the label, for his work with Sonic Youth, his countless collaborations with everyone from Keiji Haino to Tony Conrad, and the breath-taking
breadth of his solo material. It's something of a coup/blessing/honour, therefore, for Diagonal to
present this release with art/packaging from Guy Featherstone that does justice to this meeting of minds.

Molly Nilsson - History

Long overdue reissue of this Molly Nilsson early release (her fourth), now repackaged and reissued via Night School / DSA.
'I hope you die by my side, the two of us at the exact same time, I hope we die not long from now, the two of us at the exact same time'
By the time Molly Nilsson released History, she had already established a fledgling cult status built on homemade YouTube videos and home-burnt Cdrs. Writing from a distance, it's clear that History is the first classic album in her canon and arguably a classic of the 21st Century underground music panorama. While the methodology on
History hadn't changed from Nilsson's previous 3 albums - it was recorded solo at The Lighthouse, Nilsson's home studio based on a Berlin crossroads - on this record the songwriting reached a new peak and the
emotional scythe cut deeper. Here, Nilsson managed to combine a cosmic, outward looking perspective with an intimate knowledge of the human condition and its place in these turbulent times. In truth, no other songwriter has excavated the modern psyche so clearly and perfectly.

The tracklist to Nilsson's fourth album reads as an early greatest hits for Molly Nilsson followers and also serves as the perfect entry point to a whole world the artist has been building for the last 10 years. In Real Life crystalises the millenial obsession with relationships built online, with a generation paying for the baby boomer's excesses with their anxiety towards the harshness of every day life. It's a call to arms for a generation who fell in love on Skype. On I Hope You Die, one of Molly Nilsson's most iconic songs, the songwriter flips the song title into a tale of doomed romance, a relationship based on miscommunications and the thrill of the other. It's also one of the most heartfelt songs full of pathos written by anyone, an ode to obsession. Doomed romance, life lived on the flipside of day and the role of the outsider in society are themes that crop up through-out History. On Bottles Of Tomorrow, the narrator is sweeping up, in love with the night and examining the remains a society
leaves behind.
On City Of Atlantis, Nilsson veers from the plaintive balladry she had begun to make her name with, embracing trance-like synth and dance music details to create an unlikely anthem using the mythological city as a means to comment on the patriarchal rendering of history by power. With by now trademark panache, she turns complicated subject matter into a glorious song that transforms into an ecstatic pop moment.
Hotel Home, another Nilsson classic, paints loneliness not as a debilitating anxiety, but as a powerful tool that propels the artist forward through her travels. It's a song that hints at an endearing self-awareness also; the writer is never at home, living life on the road, content that 'the world will find me when the time is ripe.'

OST - Leftovers Season 1 / Max Richter

Issued on limited edition red vinyl is Max Richter's emotive and minimal score to Damon Lindelof's TV series about a post-apocalyptic global event where 2% of the world's population disappears without explanation. Richter's approach explores the feelings of the protagonist's family, the Garveys, through intimate, small scale music. He tackles this psychological landscape by bringing a ritual quality to the score, while themes of departure and loss are represented by a sense of sonic decay, relying on the instrumentation of a few sustained tones on pianos, harps and celesta.

Max Richter is a classically trained composer that defies boundaries. Trained at the Royal Academy of Music and finishing his studies under the tutelage of avant-garde composer Luciano Berio in Florence, Richter's career has followed many paths. His musical output ranges from ballets (Wayne MacGregor's Infra), reinventions of classical works (Vivaldi's Four Seasons), collaborations with The Future Sound Of London, Roni Size and Vashti Bunyan to writing scores for film and TV (Waltz With Bashir, Lost and Found, Last Days on Mars) and solo work (Memoryhouse, The Blue Notebooks, 24 Postcards In Full Colour).

Rocco Siffredi - Per Aspera Ad Astra

Ukraine's arguably most interesting contemporary electronic music producer Mikhaylo Vityk, known as Vakula, returns to our label family. Having released an EP for Burek in 2012 under the Vedagor alias, for Barba he came up with a new name - Rocco Siffredi, and a spaced out 3-tracker EP titled "Per Asper Ad Astra". As it is expected from an artist as unique and prolific as he is - Rocco hits the spot, so to speak, with this 12" as well. A1, the title track "Per Asper Ad Astra" is a very late 70's reminiscent italo disco affair. Bubbly synths, flying arpeggios and pitched vocals make it feel perfectly at home in between a Giorgio Moroder and Space track, but somehow Mr Siffredi made it "his own" and sounding fresh and futuristic even in 2018. A2, "The Elements", is the records most forward momentum track and probably the most psychedelic one. It's a pure dancefloor cut with a tight drum programming counterpointed with airy synths and reverbrating guitars which are begging to be played during an open air venue sunrise moment. It's a track which exposes itself in layers of influence...from synth pop to disco and early electro. B1 cut, "Code P" is the ambient come-down tune. Rich sequences and beautiful synth pads seem to wrap themself around you as the track progresses and drown you in echoing bubbles closer to the end. Beautiful way to get lost in the record and finish it with style. We're pleased to say that Rocco delivered a diverse but consistent EP which heavily leans on the late 70s lingo of synth-infused disco and pop but carries a stamp of "today". Art by Wanda Kuchvalek.

Announcing a reissue of The Oh Sees - The Cool Death of Island Raiders
We here at Castle Face are not afraid to get our shins dirty mucking around in the stacks and we're well aware of an out-of-press gap of Oh Sees releases right before 2006 when we started the label with Sucks Blood. We're rectifying that and first among these is The Cool Death of Island Raiders, a particularly dusty gem that we think merits another look. Kicking off the record with what should have been the hit of the summer that year but for the hard C in the title, "The Gilded Cunt" seems to clearly preface Oh Sees' later psych skewed pop sensibilities. At the time it was an obvious jam and I recall being floored by its shuffling beauty. Chirping birds, gently lapping tempos and the nascent harmonization of Bridgid Dawson and Dwyer detail what I consider to be a definitive highlight of their early quiet period of the band. The tree hangs heavy with Patrick Mullins' handiwork, manning the musical saw, drums, and an assortment of home made electronics. It seemed a bit radical to be so quiet about it but the tunes are total earworms among the assorted drones, cut up bits of tape noise, and mellow front porch vibes, and the whole thing hangs together in a lovely hand-made way, helped in no small part by Dave Sitek's production (he would later work on Master's Bedroom as well). 'We flew Brigid out a fresh woman and literally sent her home on a plane with a trash bag of her clothes' says John. Evidently the whole record was accidentally erased at some point right around when the photo on the back of the jacket was taken, which makes it all the more remarkable that the result sounds so casually and confidently careworn. .

Overdub EP

Scorccio Music
13.11.2018

The Overdub E.P. was first conceived by DJ's Mark Summers & Ben Howard in Sudbury, Suffolk, in 1993. Hardcore and Jungle was huge in the UK at that time, with Summers & Howard playing the genres out at their 'Paranoia' and 'The Ark' nights, at venues in Sudbury and Southend.

Over the course of 2 weeks they met at Mark's home basement studio, digging through their vinyl crates to find all kinds of inspirational material for their tracks. Both DJ's had eclectic tastes in music, and so the basis for 'The Overdub E.P.' was born; with some interesting touches added along the way. Mark had sampled an entire Korg M1 Piano inside a Chelmsford music store onto DAT, and later used that same piano to create the huge hook he played on 'Takes 1'. While Ben had sourced an obscure Reggae break used as the basis for 'Skunk Massive'. Later when DJing at 'The Ark',with Ben Howard, the final master mixes of 'The Overdub E.P.' were heard by DJ Rush Puppy - a nephew of one of the owners of Contagious Records, based in Upminster, Essex. The label had become prominent in 1992 for releasing some of the finest Hardcore/Jungle, and within a few days of hearing 'The Overdub E.P.' they were all set to make it their 11th release.

The 2019 remastered reissue of CONVICTION will include song lyrics, photos of the band and an introduction by Stewart Lee. The CD will add Ut's previously unreleased 7' single 'Ampheta Speak / While I Wait', recorded for Charles Ball's Lust/Unlust label in 1980. A CD booklet will feature the poster for the original 7' release and some of the cover artwork.
First 500 LP will come with Stewart Lee introduction as a printed insert.

Radical rock group UT was founded by Nina Canal, Jacqui Ham and Sally Young in 1978. Originated in the downtown NYC No Wave scene and inheritors of the collision between rock, free jazz and the avant-garde, Ut exploded the rigidity of conventional rock, constructing songs through collective improvisation, swapping instruments and rotating the role of singer/director.
Migrating to London in 1981, Ut played with bands like The Fall and The Birthday Party and released music on its own label Out Records, including Live at The Venue in 1982, the Ut EP in 1984, the Confidential 12' in 1985 and the LP Conviction in 1986. Ut became a favourite of BBC's John Peel and recorded sessions for his show in '84, '85 and '87. Joining forces with Blast First in 1987, they released the live compilation album Early Live Life and then the highly critically acclaimed In Gut's House in 1988, which made the year's NME 'Top 50 Albums'. The album Griller followed in 1989, engineered by label mate Steve Albini, who shared Ut's raw aesthetic and captured the band's vibrant intensity.Ut disbanded in 1990, but began performing again in 2010. Ut are now reissuing their entire remastered catalogue on Out Records through Forte Distribution. The reissues have so far included the Ut and Confidential 12' EPs in November 2017, Ut Live at The Venue in April 2018 and Early Live Life in November 2018. Other upcoming reissues will include their studio albums In Gut's House and Griller.

The reissue of the 1968 BBC Radiophonic Workshop's hugely influential 10th anniversary album, featuring remastered early electronic works of John Baker, David Cain and Delia Derbyshire.

Widely regarded as a major influence on the development of electronic music worldwide, BBC Radiophonic Music is a compilation of short works, often composed as intros to various radio or television programs. Conceived in a time when analogue sampling meant hours of slicing tape with razor blades, BBC Radiophonic Music is brimming with zippy themes, unsettling atmospherics, riffs, loops, clicks and beeps. Insanely catchy yet deeply sinister, this is 'collage music', produced, according to Desmond Briscoe of BBC Radiophonic Workshop, 'with the intention of entertaining rather than informing'.

This is an essential album for analogue and TV theme obsessives, and anyone with an interest in contemporary electronica; mysterious, eccentric and celestial, it is a celebration of one of the UK's most treasured and unique institutions.

New Glasgow electro and techno label Tremors presents our first vinyl release - Aftershocks Volume 1 - a collection of remixes of tracks from our Bandcamp releases.

The A1 comes from electro legend Dexter, a man who needs no introduction, remixing Old Boy's Tracer. Next up is James Shinra (Analogical Force) one of our favourite contemporary electro artists, remixing Arctor - Memory Gene. On the B-Side we have Patrick Walker (Forward Strategy Group) remixing Arctor's Selfish Lover into a slamming acid techno banger. Rounding it off is relatively unknown Hungarian producer David Harleydson who has been self-releasing highly impressive electro albums through Bandcamp. He has applied his own unique style in a remix of Arctor - The Gulf.

David Marston - Feeling You

David Marston is a producer, DJ, musician, and guitarist hailing from the vibrant Caribbean island of Jamaica. He takes a multifaceted approach to his music, and has worked to achieve a sound that is a fusion of multiple genres, including, but not limited to, house, hip-hop, disco, jazz, as well as reggae. During a six-month stint in Jamaica in 2016, Marston reconnected with a close friend and fellow musician, Craig Williamson, and the pair began writing music that would become the basis of Marston's first full length album. With the album set to be released in early 2019, Marston has endeavored to put together a special 12" to showcase the club-friendly side of his music with a selection of the album's dance cuts.

The A-side of the vinyl kicks off with the title track, "Feeling You", which features Williamson's crooning voice over a hypnotic instrumental characterized by a swirling arpeggiated synth, punchy bass hits, and stomping drums. To round off the A-side, Italian DJ and production duo, Lowheads, give the aforementioned track a fresh makeover with their lively classic house remix and dub version. The flip side of the record consists of two instrumental tracks. The first, "Ragamuffin", is a mesmerizing four to the floor tune constructed around an Indian raga sample. The final number, "On My Mind" is an off-kilter house groove with rolling keys, garage style drums, and a soaring lead. Taken together, the 12" album 'sampler' is a robust yet tantalising collection of club-ready tunes.

The Suara whirlwind whips its way back through town once again, this time with one of Croatia's finest techno producers, Insolate causing the storm. Three expertly executed and explosive techno workouts with standout remixes from Jay Clarke and Distant Echoes.

'Flare' opens up the A side with an incessant powerplay that bases itself around a relentless siren and rapid-fire bass with ethereal sweeps that blend through the mix. It's a no-nonsense weapon that causes a stir from beginning to end. Next, 'Barking Up The Wrong Tree' keeps the energy at fever pitch with an unstoppable series of synth zaps that fuse a ferocity into the track. Cutting hats backed by big room tuned kicks make this a pulsating stomper.

Jay Clarke rounds off the A side with a thumping drum workout remix of 'Barking Up The Wrong Tree'. Slick programming comprising of uncompromising toms and hardy hats mix with dystopian screeches and synths making this a fierce, trance-inducing groove destined to move bodies.

Flip it over to find 'Freedom From Disturbance' where percussive and acid-laden synth sequences meld with swelling top lines that add an air of unceasing suspense to the track. Closing out the EP Distant Echoes lets loose an extra-terrestrial version of 'Freedom From Disturbance', filled to the breaking point with mind bending electrical static sounds that combine with panning spectral echoes and those filtered acid lines.

Mary Yalex - Remember When

Dichotomy Records opens up its 2019 account with a four track extended player from Mary Yalex, the German born producer who has made big strides with her music over the last few years.

With a catalogue than spans numerous singles and two albums for her own Yalex Recordings label, as well as 2018 releases for Kann Records and ADSR Collective, Yalex delivers the fourth release on Danny Clancy's imprint.

Industrious beats and waves of ethereal pads define 'Here And Nowhere Else', as deft melodies and chords ripple over this reflective mood piece. This deep sound aesthetic continues through 'Remember When', as blankets of warming tones envelope the tribal percussion and considered groove.

IDM soundscapes are abound on 'Ambient Floor', whilst 'Dream Chasers' offers up a beatless ambient passage that sparkles and dazzles with electronic splendour.

Paciencia LP

DEEWEE
22.02.2019

The latest release from DEEWEE, the record label run by Soulwax/2manydjs' David and Stephen Dewaele, comes from Phillipi & Rodrigo. 'Paciencia' is the Brazilian duo's 9-track debut album, recorded, produced and mixed at Studio DEEWEE in Gent.

This longplayer follows Phillipi & Rodrigo's single of the same name; released in November last year, 'Paciencia' (single) was backed with a DEEWEEDUB. The release picked up plaudits from Lauren Laverne on BBC6 Music, Dazed & Confused, Mixmag, DJ Mag, Rinse France, Acid Stag, and a host of DJs including Âme, Mano Le Tough, Disclosure, Applescal, Elliot Adamson, nd_baumecker, Tiga, Joe Goddard, Citizenn, DJ T., Black Coffee, Carl Craig, and more. All vinyl copies sold out within 3 weeks.

Described by David and Stephen as sounding 'like Stereolab in 2018 singing in Portuguese while a Batacuda band performs at a Brazilian beach techno party', 'Paciencia' (album) begins with 'Magnetico', a languid, dubby start, that opens proceedings before the upbeat, organ-heavy psychedelic pop of 'Retrogrado'. The melancholic 'Minas' (complete with beautiful piano, strings, and birdsong), is the first straight dance cut on the album, a torch song, sung, like the rest of the album, in Portuguese.

Previous singles, 'Mantra', (their second release alongside 'New Beach' on DEEWEE017), and the equally acclaimed 'Karma' (released with 'Gueto De Gent' as DEEWEE010) are also included. 'Barberella' and 'Rotina' show the depth and width to Phillipi & Rodrigo's sound, before the album shifts gear with the slow techno groove of 'Face', and 'Paciencia' (single) closes the album with 5 minutes of hypnotic brilliance.

Explosions In Slow Motion

2x12inchMD272LP
n5MD
25.02.2019

Limited retail edition in double transparent yellow vinyl.
Explosions in Slow Motion is the new album from Brock Van Wey's transcendent bvdub project.
Van Wey's previous n5MD album Heart- less found him harnessing the turmoil around him to create something vast, emotive, and brooding, yet somehow comforting, allowing you to cradle in its weight.
Months after Heartless' release Van Wey moved from turbulent times of his native California home to the chilling winter of Warsaw Poland. A divergence. Alone against the icy cold, confined to the indoors in search of protection against the world outside, Van Wey channeled, as he always does, his surroundings as they coalesced with his self-imposed aberration. The outcome of this move, and period of near total isolation, is Explosions in Slow Motion.
Featuring four long-form songs accompanied by four 'ember' vignettes, Explosions in Slow Motion is quite possibly Van Wey's most mournfully isolated work in his massive discography to date.
Filled with swelling arcs of spectres from the past appearing then slowly drift away. Foggy memories of friends, loved ones, and even adversaries seem to achingly sweep across Explosions in Slow Motion's eighty-minute runtime.
There is a forlorn thread of shrouded nostalgia throughout the album which by album's end leads to catharsis, acceptance and the finality of progres- sion.

Daze, Reptant, Point Guard, E Davd - PS001.1

It's been a long time coming but we are extremely excited to share with you the debut release from Sydney's newest imprint, Pure Space. A new venture from the beloved radio show hosted by Andy Garvey, and produced by Mija Healey that has broadcast weekly on Sydney's FBi Radio for over two years. The label will focus on Australian music both for home listening and that made for the club.

Coming into orbit this March, the first part in an ongoing series of VA records. Kicking off the A side is Daze, who has stepped out in a new direction delivering 'Advanced Realty'. A driving techno burner with dark overtones unlike any of his previous productions. Completing the A side is Melbourne's Reptant, bringing you smoked out electro with hypnotic synths and trance-inducing pads on 'Microstructure'.

Flipping over to the B-side we find emerging Sydney producer Point Guard with 'The Xhase'. A subtly staunch club weapon that comes as a melodic synthscape complete with broken beats and a rounded bassline. Completing the release, E Davd creates a deeply immersive aquatic world on 'Wavestation (Nu Cycle Mix)'.

Both A-sides feature in mixes by Andy Garvey that have been supported by Resident Advisor as Mix of the Day.

DJ Rocca - The Pasta EP

DJ Rocca returns to Wonder Stories with a stunning EP that only the Italian legend could produce. Steeped in his style, the eclectic producer submits three original tracks dedicated to his favourite types of pastas.

Known for his collaborations with Dimitri From Paris, and Daniele Baldelli, Rocca's playful energy and original song writing shines through. On remix duty is the elusive DJ Fett Burger who combines 'Spaghetti' and 'Fusilli' into a chaotic amalgamation of stabby synths and percussive drums.

'Spaghetti' is a left-field house tune with muted bass and eerie synth melodies. 90s house stabs and lo-fi broken beats amp up the track with sultry vocal lines accenting throughout. 'Fusilli' emerses the listener in a tribal futuristic landscape of a forgotten synthetic world. Think after hours of a blade runner rave. Rocca's studio prowess really shines here, as his analogue. synthesizer and drum machine collection are brought to the forefront.

'Penne' slows things down into a slow-mo funk disco-esque tune with sharp stabby synths and a growling bassline. Rocca, ever the multi-instrumentalist, let's his flute playing shine here, culminating in a seriously vibey aesthetic.

Opting for his pseudonym 'DJ Fett Birger', DJ Fett Burger combines both 'Spaghetti' & 'Fusilli' into a frantic and chaotic amalgamation of breaks and acid. The addition of an elusive vocal sample brings a mindset of late speed-induced warehouse raves.

HAAi - Motorik Voodoo Bush Doof Musik

After the success of the digital release of Motorik Voodoo Bush Doof Musik last summer, HAAi is now preparing to release her first ever full length EP on vinyl.

Speaking about the EP, HAAi says: 'This EP was made after I realised that what inspired me most was to combine my love of electronic music with the music I enjoy outside of the club. I decided to collaborate with friends from a couple of my favourite bands, including Fay Milton (Savages) who provides live drums on Motorik Bush Doof Musik and Taigen Kawabe (Bo Ningen) who performs on I Never Cared That Much For Jungle. For me, having live instrumentation on the EP adds an extra depth to the tracks & has given me a vision of how I'd like future releases to sound.

My fave track off the EP, Growing Up With Muscle Cars, is an homage to my step dad who repairs and restores old muscle cars. He also used to take me to the drags in my hometown when I was little. We would push the race cars out onto the track. Some of my favourite memz as a lil kid.'

'Your Disk Is Full' is an atmospheric EP opener, and also became a favourite set opener for Denis Sulta and other DJs over the summer. Title track 'Motorik Voodoo Bush Doof Musik' raises the tempo with shimmering percussion and psychedelic looping vocals over a propulsive sub bass, prompting fans to ask for IDs in HAAi's recent mixes.

'I Never Cared That Much For Jungle' features the distinctive vocals of Taigen Kawabe of Japanese noise band Bo Ningen. The echoey samples are paired with a heavy hitting jungle-influenced production tailor made for the larger clubs and festivals HAAi is increasingly playing. A dub version of this track is also included in the package.

'Growing Up With Muscle Cars' brings a climactic end to the EP. Over the course of over ten minutes, the ambient intro gives way to an emotive breakbeat, with rumbling sub bass and glitchy synths making for a rich, multilayered production.

'Motorik Voodoo Bush Doof Musik' garnered widespread critical acclaim, not only from club rotation but also with plenty of radio airtime across BBC Radio 1, 6Music and Worldwide FM. The tracks gained even further recognition when HAAi included them in her award winning BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix.

The release comes just ahead of HAAi's landmark all night headline show at Mick's Garage on the 16th March - her first since the end of her celebrated Phonox residency. Her international tour schedule continues to fill up, with dates at Sonar Istanbul & Barcelona, Beat Hotel Marrakech, Paris's Concrete, DGTL, Nuits Sonores, Field Day and Love International in Croatia being just a few upcoming highlights.

Jack Michaels / Harry Wills - Coopers Dubz EP

Orbital 002 Hot off the heels of their successful first release 'Opposite Visions', Orbital London make a second statement with 'Coopers Dubz EP'. Sidewinding in on the A side is label front man, Jack Michael. 'Never Said That' is a familiar sound we have come to expect from the young talent, warm, and born to be heard loud. A bit lighter on its feet, with a definite spring in its step is fellow UK artist Harry Wills' interpretation of 'Never Said That'. Juicy by name, and juicy by nature. Kicking off the B side with a 'Clout' is Wills again, with a much darker outlook. A tight garage groove that packs a punch. Returning the remix favour is 'Jack's Dusty Mix', a mysterious and pacey affair to round off the Dubz. A four track release, fulfilling all of your bassline requirements. Big up Cooper.

Partners is a collaborative project between Femke Fredrix and James de Graef. Brought together by a keen interest for the ever-evolving marriage between electronic
music and visual arts, they decided to combine their strengths to realize a shared vision. Or as they call it themselves: 'providing a suitable backdrop for spastic movement'. Partners' debut project is some form of hybrid as it searches to balance between being a
film and an album. The inspiration for this collaborative effort started from their cat carrying the same name as the title of the album: 'faust'. While you can listen to
the music without watching the film, the whole production process of both was completely intertwined.
Faust tries to reflect upon how we as humans perceive, treat and care for animals. From common domesticated animals through plush teddies to cattle, we have almost daily interactions with all of them. Faust tries to question how we interact with these
creatures and how we treat one animal different from the other. Without treading into the ever-stereotyped world of vegan activism, this project raises interesting questions on our
daily interactions with the other souls inhabiting this earth. Working on this serious matter, Partners never lose sight of their quirky sense of humor, both through their
usage of samples and in the employment of bizarre little scenes.
Their music often draws many influences from the hardcore continuum defined by Simon Reynolds whilst still treading beyond the harshness of many club tracks and showing a
more soft and gentle side. They vary between genresdepending on what they want to tell. If you listen to the album on its own, it almost feels like the rough cut of a film, without losing any consistency. Expect to hear anything between trip hop and hardcore breaks.
Montage:
MONTAGE (French for the editing process of a film) is a Brussels based label/collective.
Inspired by the editing process of documentary film, in which you have to make both
bold and sensitive choices, we aim to release a wide variety of music that feels 'edited',
that tells a story. Drifting in and out of the wide spectrum club culture has to offer; edited
music brings emotion and ecstasy both to the dance floor and your living room.

After the praise for Morning Worship, released back in 2015 on Royal Oak, Portuguese duo Sabre returns to releases with the EP "Fora de Turf", pointing directly towards the dance floor. There is in "Fora de Turf" a certain idea of transient existence as a series of car journeys cruising the night with no clear sense of direction, recalling the gradual disappearance of public space and loss of community. The weight of Kraut references such as Kraftwerk's Autobahn or Stratosfear by Tangerine Dream is somehow clear in its alignment with a 1995 Carl Craig who had just released Landcruising

On the A side, 'Condor Sense' and 'Sem Terra'. The first one is a banger built around broken beats and repetitive synth chords that guide us through the drone landscapes on the background, very clearly marked by the 808's rhythms. The second one is anchored in a broken kick and on a growing acid line, punctuated by warm chords and some sliced pads that reminds us of the pulsating heart of the city of Detroit.

On the B side, "Condor Senses" and "Driving Bruno" got some sort of a gliding character. "Condor Senses" is the only track on the EP to accept the classic four-on-the-floor to guide some dubby chords along a quieter landscape where organic and natural sounds lurk. Is it dawn arriving No. On the last track of the album, "Driving Bruno," Sabre get in the car and step on the throttle, full speed, on a bassline that could resemble some synthwave releases if synthwave had been lucky enough to be born a decade earlier and in the center of the state of Michigan.

Various - White Gardenia Vol.2

Second vinyl release from the Berlin based Jazz-O-Tech Records.
* Jazz-O-Tech is proud to announce the second chapter of its limited edition vinyl release "White Gardenia": a format that combines deep tech electronic grooves with the mystic, intense and intricate atmospheres of jazz music.
* The A side of the compilation starts with "Eshe" a track by the dutch producer Duke Zilla, a perfect opener for the vinyl with its funky, dreamy, and tribadelic vibes, followed by "Modal Miles" by the Italian trumpet player Cesare Dell'Anna (remixed by DN3), a cool deep tech track full of smoky jazz quotes of the almighty Miles Davis himself. "Dick Dunker" by the Berlin Based duo Flat Maze closes the first half, and it's a great example of what we call Techno-Jazz the perfect mix between cutting hedge techno sounds and experimental jazz piano.
* The B side is meditative and musically very dense, with the talented duo of newcomers Key Clef on synths and Riccardo Nebbiosi on sax presenting 'Angel Walk to the Sea' a beautiful trip into a poetic and progressive territory, which smoothly leads to the intricate and experimental fluid jazz grooves of "Story telling" by the Italian electronic jazz band Gamapawa, which closes the compilation.
* Jazz-O-Tech is a record label based in Berlin and Milan which has the ambition of creating a new music movement that merges Techno with Jazz, tradition with modernity, improvisation and experimentation, and takes the listeners on an emotional, futuristic and intense musical journey.

William Basinski - On Time Out of Time

William Basinski samples two massive black holes on new album On Time Out of Time !

The new studio album from one of the world's most celebrated sound artists. Vinyl format features exclusive mixes that differ from the CD and Digital formats. 'At its best, William Basinski's music inspires the sort of rapturous testimony usually reserved for peak experiences, cult leaders and the dead.' - Pitchfork // 'Basinski has proven remarkably capable at existing far outside of his own legacy, his uncanny ability to wring entire worlds from his famously deep tape archives proving more remarkable with each subsequent release.' - Magnet // On Time Out of Time is a suite of works originally commissioned for the 2017 installations 'ER=EPR' and 'Orbihedron' by artists Evelina Domnitch and Dmitry Gelfand (in collaboration with Jean-Marc Chomaz and LIGO) for the exhibition, 'Limits of Knowing' at Martin-Gropius-Bau, Berlin by curator, Isabel de Sena. These works utilize, among other things, exclusive source recordings from the interferometers of LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory) capturing the sounds of the merging of two distant massive black holes, 1.3 billion years ago. The CD and Digital formats feature two tracks: The 40-minute title track, 'On Time Out of Time,' as well as '4(E+D)4(ER+EPR)', a live track recorded during the aforementioned installation. The vinyl LP format features two exclusive mixes of the title track: 'On Time Out of Time' on the a-side; and 'On Time Out of Time (The Lovers)' on the b-side, made especially for the vinyl format.

Adam Chini - Night Drive

Night Drive encourages you to enjoy the ride with your car windows down, and volume & bass at
the highest volume possible. Cruise the back roads during Sunset hours, or through some city
lights, as the album titled track 'Night Drive' gives you a warm & fuzzy funky feeling from head to
toe.
'Moving And Dancing' will surely make you move every limb in your body, and it's set to be a
dance floor jam in 2018 & beyond. This melodic groove & retrofit tempo features Brian Ellis on
guitar & Chini on Vocoder & production, setting the upbeat tone for the remaining tracks off the
album. 'Freak Out' features the iconic Linn Drum, who pulsates a heavy groov & Moog bass line
from start to finish. Crunchy vocoder lines, soft pads from the Oberheim, and Chini's experimental
live drumming at the end is sure to make your body move.
'High Life' brings an arrangement of synthesized vocal pads from the Sought-after Korg DVP-1,
which will make you feel like your head is in the clouds. A four on the floor disco tempo from the
LINN drum, a catchy delayed lead & dry bass line form a psychedelic tinge & feeling. This track sets
itself apart, and hopes to please music lovers everywhere. 'Waiting All Night' features Portugal's
underground Funk front man Sair, while Boy Dude (Adam Chini's brother) lays a funky bass line
over the top from start to finish. 'Wanna Do Ya' is a track strictly for the Break dancers & Poppers.
Layered vintage drum machines, Jonzun Crew sounding vocoder parts, and a dirty bass line, set an
aggressive mood for the second to last track. Chini takes you on a wild ride, while closing this track
out with his heartfelt lead solo. 'Clap Boogie' was meant for the 1970's. Chini drives the tune with a
loose style of live drumming, Stevie Wonder influenced clavinet work, dirty bass lines, Brazilian
instruments, live percussion, and more. Cruise in a low-rider & turn the volume up. This tune sets
the tone for what's to come from Chini's future production & style, and will leave you wanting more.

AFK & Bludwork - Loyalty N Service

Afk&Bludwork

Loyalty N Service

12inchSILK113LP
100% SILK
26.02.2019

South Cali classmates AFK and Bludwork come from oceans apart -South Korea and Georgia, respectively - but their intertwined social /sonic chemistry are proof that true vibe unions transcend geography.

The pair initially bonded over teacher pranks and 420 habits before rendezvousing off campus to link rigs and jam live electronics, eventually culminating in the six smog-smeared low-key bangers comprising their vinyl debut, Loyalty N Service.

Alternately coastal and concrete, the songs slide between smoky sunset house ('Akina Memory,' 'That Pain') and funked up warehouse bass ('No Equal,' 'Searchin'), tag-teaming melody, MIDI, and drum machinery into compelling composites of Pacific motion and emotion.

Blud is blunt about their bond: 'AFK is one of my most cherished friends; I'd do anything for this guy.' This is music from the heart and for the heads, pensive and propulsive, loose and liquid, raw and rising. 'One of our biggest inspirations is the Rush Hour films. We're the best Black and Asian duo since those guys.'

Energy Zone - Raveology EP

This record was strictly limited to 300 copies, these are the last remaining copies

NO REPRESSES

Four floor fillers sourced from the Rising High Tape Archive of 880 Tapes and assorted sampler disks. We have lost count of how many Rising High titles we have restored in the last two years but it is over 250 and we are still only scratching the surface.

Two of these gems made it to the Rave compilation series, "Noise 3". The compilation tracks are that classic 1992 SL2 inspired sound that was so popular, using the same vocal sample as the Tango Project 1 Remixes "Original Rub-A-Dub-Style".

The unreleased tracks are a Belgian style hoover track that would of been at home on early KMS Records or R&S Records and a pounding trippy Acid Techno banger. Check out the You Tube video play list as words do not do them justice.

Eric Copeland - Trogg Modal Vol.2
  • 1: Beat It
  • 2: High Score Zed
  • 3: United Banana
  • 4: Pay Off
  • 5: Bs Dropout
  • 6: Light Fantastic
  • 7: Blazin
  • 8: Falo

On March 29, Eric Copeland delivers Trogg Modal Vol. 2, the counterpart to last October's Vol. 1. The former Black Dice member's 'Freakbeat 4/4' agenda gets further refined here - Vol. 2 is more laid-back than the first, but still highly danceable. Self-described as 'late Night Flight proto tekno,' the tracks pulse with thick layers of percussion, melodic fever dreams, and riffs wrung through a taffy puller. Eric's textured, off-the-cuff approach to dance music adds a refreshing element of spontaneity and 'jamming' to a climate of uncanny smoothness and polish.

Where Vol. 1 was composed of 'rippers,' Vol. 2 travels at its own pace, continuing to showcase Eric's ability to recontextualize 4/4 tracks as psychedelic contortions, from the squelchy vibrations of 'BS Dropout' to the blithe, video arcade soundtrack 'High Score Zed.' Taken together, the two volumes of Trogg Modal showcase the versatility of one of the most continuously exciting experimental artists of the past twenty years - arriving in 2019 with his mischievous sense of adventure firmly intact.

Gang of Ducks
26.02.2019

+++ Available in a non-specified number of copies, these releases are hand-cut on vinyl by the label itself.

Transparent vinyls with a center white silk screen design and hand stamped catalogue number.

External cover designed by Regno Maggiore in white silk-screen print on die-cut black paperboard.

Internal sleeve with an illustrated poetry by Regno Maggiore, tracklist and info +++

Written and recorded in 2018 during and after a nomadic travel in the open air, Astroveliero is the debut ep of Regno Maggiore and an introspective journey inside h** beliefs and experiences.

Across 6 free-flow tracks, the artist has created a world of multi- layered textured details and organic instruments, blended with a fine tune work of sound engineering.

Astroveliero joins together different musical influences as well as world cultures, with a result that could be assimilated to the fourth world tradition.

The ep spans from the quasi- krautock ambient composition in Oracolo to percussive songs like La Danza di Sabasaa and Selva Oscura, balancing haunting atmospheres and benign forces, drawing modern anxiety, spiritual raises and dreamlike visions.

With just a quick appearance on the recent compilation Paradisia V, out on Gang of Ducks as well, Regno Maggiore is creating a new bold world around h**, and we just can't wait to listen more.

The Slow Engineer - Where Comes The Dark

After a pleasing start to the New Year, 2 same night sell outs on lathe cut 45s and a single afternoon sell out of the recent Gabe Knox LP, Polytechnic Youth continue their relentless release schedule with 2 more awesome full lengths. In their own ways, both totally unique but very much befitting the tried and trusted synth / electronic PY blueprint.

First up is the fabulous 'Where comes the Dark' debut full length from shadowy, underground producer The Slow Engineer. 'An album of sculpted synthsonics and Eldritch electronics originally released on a limited run, blink and you'll miss it cassette which sold out in 24 hrs. Heavy on basslines, with driving rhythms and tweaked synthesisers, it's a record which openly acknowledges it's nod to horror scores and the work of the Radiophonic Workshop whilst pulling off something uniquely and freshly new, with an assembled array of wayward equipment stored at his Analogue Hades base.'

British horror actor Laurence R. Harvey adds suitably menacing narration in places, and across 10 fabulous tracks this is a richly, deliciously diverse electronic record which comes hugely recommended to fans of John Carpenter, not to mention label mates The Heartwood Institute and Dream Division.

A one time pressing of 300, destined to sell out pretty swiftly.....
