The second edition of 'Vicarious Memories' by These Hidden Hands realises 5 finely crafted remixes of last year's expansive LP of the same title. This version features powerful reworks from Telefon Tel Aviv, Hypoxia, Lustmord, JK Flesh and Death In Vegas, out on June 23rd, 2017. Telefon Tel Aviv offers up his reinterpretation of 'Glasir;' a solemnly disconcerting reduction of the original flooded with warmth, depth and space. This is followed by a contribution from Hypoxia a.k.a the illustrious Drumcell, who makes his mark on the beautiful vocalised track 'Telepath,' imparting a heavy sense of melancholia and depth on to the listener. A dark atmosphere is woven by Lustmord on his remake of 'Socotra,' with its enveloping celestial melodies and ominous reverberating drones that unfold throughout. JK Flesh boosts the energy of the release with his distinguishably distorted mix of industrial, dub and power electronics that shuffle and roll the listener along this spectrally bright reincarnation of 'Dendera Light.' British producer Death In Vegas embraces the mystical facet of 'Angkor;' patiently exploring serene soundscapes with much depth and colour.

Le Chatroom, a record label established in 2016 by the English producer Kouslin, searches for the missing link between underground bass music and outer national sounds. Its music is defined by the blend of synthetic and organic tones, modern / classic instruments and low- end heavy percussive rhythms.

Pushing artists from all around the globe that share the same love for this newfound sound, Kouslin's aim with Le Chatroom is to promote musical diversity, open-mindedness and experimentation at a time when unity between cultures is crucial. With 'LCR001' the label advances into a new physical environment from which this release should be experienced.

Real talk and native percussion establish the steady climax of 'Brothers', the A-side of Le Chatroom's inaugural wax release. Kouslin cuts through this sediment with a bright flute, before the state of the sound switches into something far darker and meditative. By placing several samples at irregular intervals, the Londoner achieves a fascinating charm that'll unite us all.

Booming bass in 'Gyals' lingers with a steady pace while percy tribal hits forge a raw groove that's far from common. With this movement, the producer from Bristol disintegrates the sense of a generic production and sticks to his true nature. Through this it becomes clear that Galtier has his polyrhythms down to a science.

Londoner Sheik clinches the B-side with a craze that unveils a nearly psychotic sense of sample architecture. Pushing crystal clear 808 kicks in- between the haunting atmospheres and a wall of pressure simply becomes one of his most inventive takes documented on wax. If you love to swerve through a minefield, the odd 'Oxram' would be your favourite pick off this first outline.

The three producers that feature on 'LCR001' pass on their fundamentals to conjure Le Chatroom's philosophy red-handed. Together they do the imprint's name justice by handing over critical bass repertoire that'll excite many!

Trunk Records caught everyone off guard way back in 2003 when they embarked on a series of reissues from the off-kilter musical world of Basil Kirchin, with his seriously scored orchestras, science fiction experiments, home-spun psychedelia and avant garde racket.

Now Trunk pulls out the trump card with an unknown Kirchin 1979 electronic floor-filler, in the shape of Silicon Chip. This nearly 40 year old tune contains all the analogue froth, cosmic thump and boogie down bass to get any party started.

Pressed on yellow wax, dead, dead limited, and brilliant. Backed with the stop/start helter-skelter arpeggio'd Silicon Sessions - works a treat when pitched down a little.

Dark Entries is proud to release the latest offering from Bézier, a 3-track EP titled 'Primes'. Bézier is the moniker of San Francisco based musician Robert Yang, who is also part of the Honey Soundsystem crew. A multi-instrumentalist, Robert planted his roots in San Francisco in 2005. Over the years in SF he has built an impressive analog synth-based studio, which also serves as the creative hub for his riveting live performances.

'Primes' represents the theme of primordial origins and creation with three tracks that explore disparate, sonic environments in each song. The title track flows and ebbs like currents in an oil slick. Out of something messy (like primordial ooze) arises organized chaos. 'Stranger' is a moody dark electro/wave track for a sweaty night cruising on the west coast of Holland. Set against an underwater sound canvas the song features seductive guest vocals and lyrics by Nicole Ginelli. Doc Sleep of Jacktone Records provides additional production duties. The final track, 'Imperial Tranz Am', is an airy, ethereal slow burner clocking in at over 13 minutes. It originally appeared as the soundtrack to an experimental queer fantasy film of the same name by SF film maker Aron Kantor.

All songs have been mixed by Mark Pistel (Meat Beat Manifesto, Consolidated) at Room 5, San Francisco and EQed for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios. The vinyl comes housed in a jacket featuring a Quadtone pastel earthtone of pixelated celluar ooze designed by Eloise Leigh. Each EP includes a postcard with an image still from the 'Imperial Tranz-Am' movie. 'Do I hear what I see, is it real or just a feeling, a vibration of N-R-G.'

The first release by Parisian iconoclast Joakim for his friends and European colleagues at DJ Tennis' Life And Death records is a miniature nocturne for dance floor meditation, a cascade of unfurling fizzy moods and introspection, finally tuned and expertly rendered by the electronic music maestro.
"I met Manfredi (Tennis) through Luke Jenner (ex The Rapture) in NYC. When Manfredi has a few days off his busy touring schedule, he comes to my studio to work with Luke on their collaboration project. We usually talk about synths, food, DJ gossip and complain about espressos in NYC. About 6 months ago we were eating Korean fried chicken and Manfredi asked me if I'd like to do something for his label Life & Death. At the time I had a bunch of club tunes I started working on and somehow had a feeling some of them could be a fit for Life & Death so I played those and Manfredi very quickly picked one, 'Daemon'. I thought putting out something on Life & Death was at the same time kind of odd (and if you didn't notice yet, I like when things are unexpected) and totally appropriate.

Robert Scott Pearson's music can be viewed as surrealist, impressionist, post-industrial, mystical or avant-garde, but it goes beyond categories. His work embraces software, philosophy, poetry, visual arts, and generative algorithmic creation in general. At an early age, he began to experiment in this field, releasing his first music privately on cassette, and he was part of the undergound industrial scene in Seattle. Post-industrial but not really nihilistic, he continues nowadays to produce his beautifull music which has anticipated for more than 30 years IDM or modern ambiant for example. This first issue on vinyl and first official release of this discreet but brillant composer is truly a big joy.

With a sonic portfolio that boasts commissions for the Xenon classic pinball machine, the sounds for the Meco Star Wars theme, the Atari TV commercials and the electronic sound effects in the original Stepford Wives film (amongst many others) the mutant electronic music CV of Suzanne Ciani is proof that in a 1970s commercial world of boys toys, monopolised by a male dominated media industry, a woman's touch was the essential secret ingredient to successful sonic seduction. A classically trained musician with an MA in music composition this American Italian pianist was first introduced to the synthesizer via her connections in the art world when abstract Sculptor and collaborator Harold Paris introduced Suzanne to synthesizer designer Don Buchla who created the instrument that would come to define Ciani's synthetic sound (The Buchla Synthesiser). Cutting her teeth providing self-initiated electronic music projects for art galleries, experimental film directors, pop record producers and proto-video nasties Suzanne soon located to New York where she quickly became the first point of call for electronic music services in both the underground experimental fields and the commercial advertising worlds alike. Counting names like Vangelis and Harald Bode amongst her close friends Suzanne and her Ciani Musica companybecame the testing ground for virtually any type of new developments in electronic and computerized music amassing an expansive vault of commercially unexposed electronic experiments which have remained untouched for over 30 years... until now.

Finders Keepers Records are happy to announce a new creative archive based relationship with Suzanne Ciani, a very unique and celebrated experimental composer in her own right, who, as one of the very few female composers in the field (Save Chicago's Laurie Spiegel, Italy's Doris Norton, and a post-op Walter Wendy Carlos) turned a hugely significant wheel behind-the-screens of many early computerised music modules throughout the 1980s dating back to her formative years studying at Stanford's Artificial Intelligence Labs in the early 70s. Suzanne Ciani's detailed and academic approach to music and electronics coupled with an impeccable sense of timing and melody (and a good sense of humour) shines throughout this new collection of previously unreleased recordings. Lixiviation complies and recontextualises both secret music and commercial experiments of Suzanne Ciani made for microcosmic time slots and never previously documented on vinyl or CD. This is the first sneak peek of the early Ciani metal music and non-pop that later went on see her nominated for multiple Grammy awards for her later achievements which brought synthesiser music to the new age movement.

Hot on the heels of 'Inre Rydmen', the EP that the Swedish multi-instrumentalist group Tommy Awards released via Origin Peoples in mid-June, come the remixes. Drafting in a cohort of the very best, this impending release will see the likes of Jonny Nash, Coyote and Mystic Jungle Tribe jump on the remix duties, touching original productions with their unmistakable idiosyncrasies. Bartosz Kruczynski, the Polish producer better known under his 'Earth Trax' guise, is another name credited on the release, offering up a 15-minute epic as he reinterprets penultimate track, 'Hans Logan.' Also to see an appearance on this EP is the Romanian Eirwud Mudwasser, offering up a rendition of the track 'Mike Sierra Foxtrot' reworked in a similar esoteric expanse, albeit it quite a bit more lucid.
Oscillating electronics mesmerise and an arpeggiating synth melody gradually make way for marimbas. Sweeping, elongated strums of guitar stretch out like the horizon and the dialogue between various melodic elements continues throughout as we bear witness to various transformations. Irregardless of pacing, the meditative quality remaining consistent throughout each glorious edit.

In the midst of a busy year, full of wildly-varied accomplishments, David Lieske (aka Carsten Jost) has surprised us all with an unannounced 11-track full-length album on Dial-- his first since 2000's "You Don't Need A Weatherman..." In the interim he's kept busy curating countless releases on Dial, the label he co-runs with Peter "Lawrence" Kersten, celebrated a 15 year label anniversary with an all-encompassing 2LP/various artists'

compilation, released a gallery-edition album of his black ambient collaboration Misanthrope CA with Robert Kulisek, "Deathbridge" and launched a new magazine project (also with Kulisek) named after the speed of light i.e. "299792458m/s". All this activity, even after his recent trans-atlantic relocation from Berlin to New York City, mainly to open the American branch of Mathew Gallery has surely taken us all by welcome surprise.
Out of all of the Dial house and techno artists, Carsten Jost has always represented the most precise brand of exquisitely doom-laden house, laced with equally strong doses of melancholy and beauty. Here on "Perishable Tactics", Lieske runs through his distinctively stealthy low-slung beat-mospheres, leaning towards a decidedly low-lit and sultry space, but mixed with a fresh, gently arc-ing feeling of romance and dare I say itLove() Tellingly he's seen it fit to include 2007's "Love"-one of his best e.p. tracks from a split release with Efdemin. But while "Love" represents a climbing and yearning towards a place where love might reside, the remaining new tracks debuting here seem to represent a place where this love actually exists. This feeling is woven into his deep, medium tempo, detroit-inflected house rhythms, accented with crystalline keys, disembodied voices at times and gently soaring strings. While anger may be less in the forefront here it is important to notice that these tracks are ripe with the balance of joy and unease inherent in house. There is definitely a newfound languidity here that feels particularly like a moment shared by two (perhaps amongst many) but the atmosphere still remains decidedly pensive. See "Ambush" with it's strolling beat, moody yet sweet chords and chilling atmosphere later joined by thunder cracking in an almost-approving-manner a safe-distance away.
Of course diehard fans will find satisfaction knowing that Lieske's delectable angst hasn't completely abated. Title track "Perishable Tactics" takes a disarmingly peaceful setting and rolls a heavy fog over it to herald a sure-to-arrive fate that awaits us all. (See also "Army Green".). But with "Dawn Patrol" the whispering hi-hat and gently clanking rhythm offset by rolling strings marries the old and new Carsten Jost most successfully. All of this atmosphere bookended by ambient intro and outro tracks by Misanthrope CA make for a perfectly foreboding, elegant and deliciously dark new album release by Carsten Jost.

Tom Van Zeytveld AKA Phuture-T is well known to followers of hard-edged dubwise jungle from his many stellar releases on labels including Alphacut, 45Seven, and Eastern Promise Audio. In a landscape of similar-sounding steppers, Zeytvelt reveals his Emperor T alias on his first outing for ZamZam, bringing a welcome experimental sensibility to the worldwide steppers arena, while keeping sound system priorities and dancefloor imperatives firmly in view. Macka Step Dub" is a pounding 128 bpm killer that opens with congas, skanks, and a minimal guitar lick, but quickly ramps up the energy with a pounding kick, sick sine wave bass, clattering percussion and sirens, building the tension to a massive breakdown. When the smoke clears, magisterial horns and insistent skanks lead the way as the riddim rebuilds, the tape echo spools out, and the dance forwards on.Mek It Run Dub" is cut from the same sonic cloth but faster, and tweaking the template with a more organic bass sound, flanged skanks, and stark shocks from the spring reverb. With militant horns echoing from deep down the Well over a pummeling kick and bass attack, this one is a serious threat to a soundboy. Both tunes were mixed and dubbed out at Phuture-Studios in Amsterdam, mastered and cut by the one Lewis at Star Delta Mastering in Devon.

The eternal sunshine of Infernal Sounds returns for their seventh installment of vinyl releases - yet another high-pressure 12" curated by the fierce UK-based imprint. Seeking to maintain their hefty presence, Infernal Sounds invites a revered bass music producer out of San Francisco by the name of Saule - joined by a mean-spirited remix from Chestplate's Mesck. FatKidOnFire, one of UK's most regarded publications, states: "One of the hottest Dubstep records of 2017".

Swedish noise agitator Dan Johannsson bothers his good pals at iDEAL with a brilliant new LP following his Aska split album with Puce Mary in 2013. Malign by nature and intent, his overdue return to Joachim Nordwall's label is a sorely strung out and decayed thing, a dank space hankering to be inhabited by listeners who want or need to be pushed into uncomfortable headspaces. If you're into anything from Jandek to Wolf Eyes to The Caretaker - this one's for you.
Malign trades in a sense of depression and negativity that draws strength from the vacuum behind hope, vacillating forlorn, Loren Connors-like guitar melodies and rubbled shellac samples that recall The Caretaker with passages of fierce distortion and slurried atmospheric textures that project hellish images of waterboarding and abject terror on the mind.
The guitar pieces are almost Jandek-like in their awkwardness, often morphing mid sentence into the kind of shuddering knots that Aaron Dilloway would be proud of, steadily toeing away hope in favour of full depressive immersion and feelings from the brink.
Ultimately, though, the record wouldn't be so convincing without its severe sense of sincerity,
honestly conveying that pall of darkness without any ironic distance. It's a proper downer in the best way. As the label say 'Malign' is a hopeless, depressive record. If you had any hopes for the world, 'Malign' will erase them'.

Man Duo is the second coming of Jaakko Eino Kalevi and Long-Sam: cherished producers and good friends from Helsinki whose 2012 debut Amateurs de Vérité refracted outsider electronics through the prism of psychedelic folk. Now the pair are back with a new name and a new album, Orbit, that takes the exotic pop we've come to associate with both artists far beyond the dance floor.

Written and recorded together at Sami's place in Helsinki and Jaakko's Berlin studio during 2016, Orbit plots a serene course through styles close to the duo's hearts. Across eight tracks, Jaakko and Sami zone in on krautrock, funk, electro and spaced-out cyber-ballads, executing each with characteristic elan and tunefulness. In fine voice throughout, the pair's lyrics - sung in English, Finnish and Italian - draw on the absurdities of life and love in the modern world.

In the time between Amateurs de Vérité and Orbit, Jaakko has enjoyed international success courtesy of his Dreamzone EP and self-titled 2015 album for Domino and the Yin Yang Theatre EP for Beats In Space. Recognised as one of Finland's most exciting musical exports of recent years, he's toured the world with his three-piece band and picked up a couple of awards. His links to Sami go deep, however: the pair lived in the same neighbourhood of Jyvaskyla when they were younger and put out their first single - a dubbed-out free-jazz 7-inch - as teenagers in 2001. 'We're more professional now,' says Jaakko, 'but still have the spirit of amateurs.'

Orbit finds both artists pushing each other in a bid to attain new levels of harmony, whether that's in the silken electronic funk of opener 'One Formula', which unravels like some blissful mid-80s Pino Donaggio scene-setter, or in the pulsating 'What If It Falls', a satisfyingly unorthodox cut that calls to mind Simon & Garfunkel and Dopplereffekt. 'This song deals with events of an almost catastrophic nature,' says Jaakko.

On 'The Middle', an epic slow-burner laced with a terrific guitar solo by Sami, the singer Sean Nicholas Savage blurs the personal and political with an impassioned turn. 'We worked on this one for quite a long time but eventually what really made it work was Sean's vocals. Took some time to realise that,' says Jaakko, who knows Sean from their time in Berlin. For 'Ile's Dream' - 'a krautrock-influenced song based on a dream that a friend had,' according to Sami - Man Duo channel the wide-eyed euphoria of La Dusseldorf.

Then there's 'Tanyan Teema' - 'Tanya's Theme' in English - a sweet, bubbly groove about a film character called Tanya that first surfaced on the CORD soundtrack a year or two back, and the sleek electro of 'Vanessa', which relates the story of a no-show at a concert in both Finnish (narrated by Sami) and Italian (by Cecilia Butini) before bursting into colour. 'The Boss' closes proceedings, its layers of synths and saxophone providing a dusky end to a rich and rewarding album.

Orbit is released by Kaya Kaya in the UK and Ireland and by Solina Records in the rest of the world. The album was mastered by Norman Nitzsche at Calyx, Berlin. Its cover photo is by Arnd Dewald. Man Duo play a handful of dates this summer and will tour in the autumn.

Enlisted on remix duties, the always excellent Fred P flawlessly Reshapes Gracioppo's A1 into a hymn suited for the early morning comedowns.

Pinprick guitar lines, swaths of ethereal brass, sub-bass thuds, the clatter of distorted percussion, fever dream lullaby melodies - it can be difficult to discern what sounds we're hearing over the course of Nordra's eponymous debut given the strange and unorthodox context of their combination. And while many tech savvy artists have managed to build strange symphonies and texturally curious electronic exercises within the lonely confines of user-friendly software, those in-the-box tactics don't line up with the mission statement of Monika Khot, the mastermind behind Nordra. "The record has a lot to do with the loss of information from analog to digital conversion, which is then in turn paired with static and dynamic though discrepancies."Across the album's four hallucinatory tracks, it becomes abundantly clear that Khot is a musical mastermind, able to navigate multiple stylistic and tonal shifts while nimbly switching between wildly divergent instruments over the course of a single song, all while maintaining a singular cohesive vision.

For our next chapter, there is Parrish Smith. In his wicked game of creation and demolishment he's working on combining organic and mental material which brings him to his first full-length EP. His melted personal stories convey through rough mechanics and exuberant expressionism. This tells the story of fulfilment, development and setbacks. Mixing up illusional layers of metal drums with harsh and rough moving synthesis. Polyrhythmical electroniczzz for the mind.

Recorded over three sessions in New York City on 9 December 1970, 21 January 1971 and 9 March 1971. The Paul Bley Synthesizer Show showcases new songs and tough renditions of previous work. Featuring the songs of Annette Peacock, this collection sets another milestone in the free jazz spectrum and celebrates an innovative and iconic figure. Her new release on her very own imprint Greatest Hits International is a conceptional framed double vinyl album and a journey diary of her last two years on tour around the globe, with Mexico, Detroit and her hometown roots in Berlin as fixpoints on her neverending agenda. Pilocka Krach is Sugar Cane & The Lost Amigos , her band and all at once. Her style is pure electro post rave simplicity, where each single sound is either raw sampling cuts or deep growling synthesis. Big basslines meet funky grooves and surprising hooks, grooving along with her own voice and a lot of other vocal features, whereever you go. Each 'n everthing gets the room it deserves and mingles alltogether to so much more, than just another stereo sum. Never heard an album that dry and that wet at the same time, with an overall fun and jam factor, that is truly touching. She took her original style more than just a few steps further and sharpened her skills in an impressive and real straight forward way of raw funkyness and true storytelling. You can't listen to it without moving. Pilocka is always surfing the right balance of how much, or better how less it needs, to keep it going, get down to the point of no return and beyond the miracle of repetition. Pure oldschool sounds never sounded that fresh and never, ever 'been told that way before.

Mister Mellow moves further away from the synthesizer-heavy
sounds of the recent Washed Out releases and more band-driven
sound of his work on iconic labels Sub Pop in America, and Domino in Europe. On Mister Mellow, Greene draws from the experimental collage techniques of musique concrète and plunderphonics artists such as The Residents. Combining styles as diverse as free jazz, house, hip-hop and psych together with interlude-esque voiceover samples, often pulled from anonymous YouTube vlogs, he creates a busy, chaotic, and caricaturish mix that mirrors the claustrophobic, hyper-stimulated psyche so familiar to young adults.
As he continues to carve out his innovative sonic identity,
influenced by the world around him but unafraid to buck trends,
it's fitting that Greene has partnered with legendary hip hop label
Stones Throw Records, long a home for beat-loving musical
rebels. His approach to releasing music is every bit as individual,
too: in an environment where compiling singles into an album
format or working with a single video director are the norm,
Greene has chosen to commission eleven different artists to
bring the visual aspect of his fully-realised album project to life.
On Mister Mellow, Washed Out steers clear of emotion to empathise
with the minutiae of the world around him. 'I've been much less
interested in sentimentality and emotion for the past couple of years,' says Greene, 'In some ways, I think its a reaction against getting older and having more responsibilities. Maybe I'm just nostalgic for a time in my life where I could just relax and block out the world for a moment.' Though Mister Mellow is an intensely personal album, its ideas and observations speak to the lived experience of so many young adults, an experience that we come to see as both funny and sad.

Among the most stunning and musical electronic works ever produced, these five compositions represent the complete electronic works of Norwegian composer Arne Nordheim (1931-2010). They have stood the test of time remarkably well and have been embraced by new generations of influencial musicians like Deathprod and Biosphere. This audiophile 2LP comes in an edition of only 500 copies in a beautiful gatefold sleeve with updated credits and liner notes. The sound has been mastered by Helge Sten (Deathprod) specifically for this vinyl edition, sourced from the original analogue master tapes and painstakingly restored before being transfered to 24bit/96kHz for the best possible audio results.

* Dom & Roland's Label has gone from strength to strength from its conception in 2006. Featuring collaborations by Dom with other Artists such as Noisia, Hive and Amon Tobin the label has continued to push sonic boundaries whilst staying true to it's ethos of 'not selling out'. It is currently in A 'Dubs from the Dungeons' Phase releasing sought after unreleased music from the 90's from various accomplished artists every month on limited edition gold vinyl.

* IVORY PUZZLE - DJ KRUST

A straight up banger from DJ Krusts "cloaking" bass era. Like many tracks from the time, it's working simplicity was it's defining factor. A very hooky arpeggiated intro and breakdown and an unrelenting drum and bass workout, the track steps up a gear getting more intense every sixteen bars taking the dance floor on the musical equivalent of a nitro fuelled sprint down a drag strip.

*FLIP IT - DJ KRUST

A futuristic roller with sampled funk breakbeats reminiscent of "true stories" and "soul in motion". Like many of the Krust and Full Cycle releases this was a tune screaming to be mixed with others, it's unexpected drum edits and fx popping in and out making it impossible to tell when one tune ended and another began. The resonating b-line always sounded huge on a rig and paved the way for a myriad of future generations of bass ideas. Quite a rare tune, only Krust, Die and Bryan G had this on dubplate.

There are not many conventional rules in the world of Dutch DJ/producer DJ Marcelle/Another Nice Mess, or they have to be her own, but which she is more than happy to break at any time she fancies. For the past 15 years she has been travelling around Europe and beyond, playing her brave three turntable sets in front of often both stunned, surprised and euphoric audiences. She is an original, skilled mixer, with a very distinctive style of her own, avoiding most DJ-cliches and stale rules.

Marcelle - who believes in using strictly vinyl - creates every gig fully improvised sets, containing the latest leftfield sounds in new electronic, world and other independent music, merged and mixed with a skill rarely seen in international 'beat-boring-matching' (as she calls it) days. From the start she has always been much, or even more of, a musician as she is a DJ, as amongst others was recognised by Faust founder member Hans-Joachim Irmler, who since 2008 has released four Marcelle albums on his Klangbad label.
'In The Wrong Direction', her debut 10'' for the Munich label Jahmoni released last autumn, was typical for Marcelle's way of thinking. The heavy bass, combined with strange rhythms, odd voices and self-irony about her limited sense of direction in real life, made it both an unusual but not less fitting club record.
Now, on follow-up 12'' EP 'Too', she surprises even more. Instead of fiddling about on computers and machines for months on end like so many producers do, she produced four fresh new tracks in the space of only a few days.

The title of opener 'Too Long' shows Marcelle's sense of self-irony once again. But in fact, the almost 12 minutes of this track, are worth every second. Over a driving, almost krautrock-esque beat (but, being a Marcelle record: not quite), there's some of the maddest percussion ever put on wax. The relentless bass and very strange sounds (is it a woman, an animal) complete the song which, judging from the audience reactions it got when the dubplate version was played; make it a perfect, addictive track to play in every open-minded DJ-set.

'Too Trumpety', the opener on side B, was already produced before Donald bullied his way to the US presidency. This very danceable track uses horn sounds, orchestra tuning and train sounds as if it couldn't have been done otherwise: Marcelle strongly believes in improvisation and the power of coincidence. Not only with the now very fitting 'Too Trumpety' title, but also the train sounds on this track were coincidentally on another track of the recording but they fitted the mood of the song perfectly.

Elsewhere on the record Marcelle remixes 'Too Long' (wittily retitled 'Too Short Dub') and 'Too Scratched' is an abstract, short track made out of broken, damaged and scratched records. To honour one of her influences, she later added a Lee Perry sample (greeting the punks - Marcelle was in 1976 one of the first and certainly youngest punks in the Netherlands!), only realising after she had done so that Perry's nickname 'Scratch' is more than fitting for the title of the track. Once again - the joy of coincidence!
On stage and on her records Marcelle transcends a sense of openness and a feeling of freedom, which often have her described as 'totally enriching', 'a true ear opener', a real 'pioneer'.

Dark Entries is proud to release 'Helden Platz', a long out of print 12' maxi single from seminal Italian electronic act Kirlian Camera. Keyboardist/vocalist Angelo Bergamini founded the project in Parma in 1979 and named it after an electronic device that photographs the electromagnetic halo around objects and living beings. By 1980, Angelo had recruited singer Simona Buja, keyboardist Fabrizio Chiari, and bassist Mauro Montacchini. Their demo cassette, 'Dawn', attracted the attention of Italian Records, a popular independent label. Over the next few years the band would release their first mini-LP, 'Kirlian Camera', the full length ' It Doesn't Matter, Now', and the singles 'Communicate,' 'Edges,' and 'Blue Room'. The latter was a significant hit, eventually landing them a deal with Virgin Records.

By 1987 the line up consisted of Angelo Bergamini on all instruments, Charlie Mallozzi on electronic drums and Simona Buja on vocals. Virgin wanted the band to provide another hit single in order to exploit the success of 'Blue Room", refusing to release the band's less commercial material. In 1987 the band went Lark Studio at Carimate Castle, Italy to record with Italo disco producer Oderso Rubini. Thanks to the insistence of Bergamini, the label agreed to release 'Helden Platz', German for 'Heroes' Square,' in 1987. The song features Kirlian Camera's brand of dark wave, marked by haunting melodies, slow moving synth washes, and orchestral strings. The song features the stark, dramatic vocals of Simona Buja, who sings about the 'Blue blood of Winter' in a tale of Germany and Austria during World War II. Included here is the extended 12' mix, the 7" edit, plus the original B-side 'Burial', an instrumental that evokes a funeral procession soundtrack.

All songs are remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. It is housed in the original jacket, featuring a photo of a headstone from Zentralfriedhof Cemetery in Vienna. Each copy includes a 2-sided postcard with lyrics and photos of the band.

Niagara, the first release, anticipates the L.u.c.a. album and contains 3 different versions of the same track: one from Rotla, one from Polysick and a L.u.c.a.'s own quirky version that is surprisingly dancefloor-friendly. The name MONDO has its roots in MONDO MOVIES' is inspired by libarary music and has the goal to produce music that is descriptive of concepts, images and environments. Good listening!

Midnight Dicers are a trio from Tel-Aviv. They comprise of Sabo aka Obas Nenor (Mahogani Music / Strictly Rhythm), Ariel Klachkin and Eliezer Perez. They are a steady fixture in the city's nightlife, as DJ's and owners of underground clubs/bars. The collaboration with Samy Birnbach aka Dj Morpheus came naturally as they are longtime fans of his work with Minimal Compact the legendary group from the 80´s and as Dj Morpheus A&R & Compiler (Freezone series) for SSR/Crammed Discs in Brussels and his weekly Radio show the Lysergic Factory. Also featuring on the track is berry sakharof, one of minimal compact's guitarist. Icing on the cake comes in form of a dub version plus remixes from Smagghe & Cross and head honcho Prins Thomas

The Neon Judgement hail from the small town of Leuven near Brussels, Belgium and gave birth to the New Beat and EBM scenes worldwide with the release of their first two cassettes 'Suffering' (1981) and 'TV Treated' (1982). Always a consistent duo of Dirk Da Davo (synthesizers, vocals) and TB Frank (guitar, drum machine, vocals) The Neon Judgment worked in a parallel world alongside Suicide, Cabaret Voltaire, and the Deutsche Neue Welle.

In 1983 they released the infamous 4-song 'Cockerill-Sombre' EP containing the dance-floor smash 'The Fashion Party' on Anything But Records. Dirk Da Davo says, 'First we recorded and mixed the drum parts and effects on 4-track, then we bounced this mix to 2 tracks again what left us with 2 more channels to use for vocals and additional instruments.' Veering between minimalistic industrial drones, odd new wave-ish synth pop and dance music, underlain by cold, mechanical rhythms. The band combine brash and seedy lyrics, with raw synthesizer stabs and repetitive drum machine beats both aggressive and danceable. 'Cockerill-Sombre' was recorded in a small basement room under the watchful eyes of Ludo Camerberlin from A Blaze Colour.

All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Housed in the original jacket featuring a black and white photo of the duo performing live. Each copy includes a 2-sided 11' square insert with photos of the band, lyrics, and liner notes by Dirk Da Davo.

There is a sense of urgency increasingly infecting the human condition, fragmenting our attention span, accelerating our needs and often influencing our motives when making creative decisions. The result is a lack of dynamics, there is no ebb or flow, its 'go' time, all the time. Electronic music is one of the clearest examples of a widening division between great art created in a deeply imaginative vaccum and the soulessly formulaic and branded product that serves the impatient masses. What draws the ESP Institute to Benedikt Frey is his ability to operate on the fringe, outside the constructs artists constantly channel themselves into—his art speaks a pure language that is realized by any means necessary, a process devised solely to articulate his own message, one delivered with patience, never rushed nor dictated by the outside world. Artificial was written and produced over two years, tirelessly sculpted into a sequence abstract pieces that are fiercely independent but accumulate layers of meaning when collaged. He describes the record he's been creating since he started making computer music as one "conceiving an interior territory: an abstract space to process the oppression, confusion and insanity of the contemporary age, and to formulate an honest emotional and artistic response - a psychic jumping off point into an uncertain future." 'Infinity Ultra' takes inspiration from sleep paralysis, monumental artworks, children's anime, abandoned places, ghostly rave pasts and terrifying silicon valley futures, and the limitless anger of the digital present. These influences have been channelled into an impressionistic burst of varied creativity: Shimmering VSTs, monolithic noise, euphoric blocks of colourful sound, trance stabs and the citrus rush of hardcore, towering drones, and skynet math rock - all rendered against cold, sinister space and nostalgic synth melodies. The album reveals the artist's Scottish roots, viewed at a hazy distance from his Berlin home - a series of memories of Glasgow's experimental psychedelic underground, its DIY rock scene and defiant club hedonism. The DJ/production duo from Munich back with four tracks full of bass-heavy excursions into hybrid forms of club music close to Grime, Dancehall, Dub, Techno and the yet unnamed territory in between - their natural habitat. Lead single and first track of the EP is Copper And Lead, which features "London city warlord" Riko Dan of Roll Deep fame, spitting dangerous lyrics on a Bashment/Grimeriddim.Following this is Blurred Vision, low end monster named after their gigantic soundsystem event series, exploring the middle ground between Dub and the technoleaning 4x4 universe. Endangered Species rallies an unswerving stare-down of a compilation featuring boss-lad Vereker in disguise alongside Skander, Die Kombination and 2NF, all fully committed to the
heaviest stuff in Death Always Follows.
A grim survey of the label so far, Death Always Follows combines select material from four previous releases with five unreleased fouls including some deadly, incognito Vereker gear. It's
worth noting up front that there's very little of what you might call 'noise-techno' inside; rather it's all of a peculiar, sullen and full sunk pallor that resonates with OG west coast nastiness from
The Haters and NON as much as TG or even Whitehosue from our side of the cess pit.
It revolves no less than three numbers from Skander's sorely overlooked Ruins LP, impressing itself in the gravelly mastication of Death Watcher's Shroud, the heart-aching highlight of Barbed Chains, and the Intrigue & Stuff-like ambience of Mend, beside hurts from his Renoir duo with Vereker, namely the eviscerated choral piece Concrete, the muscle-wasting atrophy of Broken Tongue, and eye-wobbling terror of Stigmata.Cologne, Germany's Die Kombination also feature, giving a taste of their Leibermuster [2016] tape in the deliciously depressive atmospheres of Vollkommenheit and the cranky slugger, Territion,whereas Seele reveals a slightly more sensual aspect.
However, the most compelling material comes from 2NF and Ferro Mortem; the former with two tape-buckling demonstrations of caustic power noise, whilst the latter finally relinquishes his ear-worming rhythmic noise bug, New Traumas and the never-before-heard trepanation of Blood Organ. Take a guess at the who's behind those two, and you're probably right... You may also be very wrong, which is why you're reading all this pony.

martianMan returns with 4 jungle influenced tracks. Echos' is an amen science excursion. Plenty of emotion carries this tune through your sound system and into your ears. After the dark beginning you are taken to the land of beautiful pads. Finally breaking you down at the end with some sound clash MCing before moving into the final, DJ friendly outro.

Metaluna' is a journey like martians used to make back in the days before man. After the Dune sample intro you are taken to a funky bass underneath a most filthy break. Then you are taken to some both dark and moody pads. Then without expecting it towards what seems to be the end, an amen break comes in and the tune seems to come alive again. Vocal samples from the 1955 film This Island Earth' come in here and you're journey is complete with the original filthy break reappearing with new synth darkness accompanied by a techno bleeping' loop.

Vikings' is an apache onslaught with a friendly reminder to never mess with Jack. The breakdown makes you screaming inside with content, only to be glazed over with the funky break that is a bit of a drumfunk vibe until it reaches the final ache outro.

Rain Falls' uses a sample Frankie Knuckles Rain Falls' tune and puts it under an amen. This is a chill tune for the most part, with comfortable darkness pads coming in to let you know it's going to change. When it reaches the 129 mark the vibe changes from niceness and semi darkness to a stoned out dark vibe that lasts to the end. When the last break comes in prepare for your eyes to pop, your skin to explode, and then everybody is dead. ENJOY.

A few years ago, Melodies family members Floating Points and DJ Red Greg got their hands on a couple of original 70s obscurities. While these standout records shone brightly in their own right, the two DJs saw the potential to create their own edits behind the scenes, finely attuning the original versions to modern-day dancefloor standards. Of these new recordings, they cut only five copies for themselves and a few DJ friends of theirs. Today, Melodies International is very proud to bring you MEL006 and MEL007. Fully licensed, lovingly mastered to the highest possible standards and carefully edited to dial up that dancefloor enjoyment, these two 'You're A Melody' classics weren't originally meant to get official releases. But due to popular request, they are now available to play and share in very special moments at parties around the world. MEL6 arrives as a 7-inch, with the original version and the edit on the flip. First released in 1979 as a three-minute up-tempo library recording, 'Disco Baby", one of 10 tracks off a record available to license for film, radio, television and other media, held some hidden magic that would only get uncovered almost four decades later. Informed by years of combined dancefloor experience, Floating Points and Red Greg have slightly tweaked the original material, realising that played in the right context, it can become a true disco anthem.

For anyone with their pulse on cutting edge music, Neel is synonymous with quality. He's one half of the critically acclaimed duo, Voices From The Lake (with Donato Dozzy), and here he teams up with his studio partner, Filippo Scorcucchi. The pair present a project called LF58 (named after Neel's mastering/recording studio in Rome) for our latest instalment in the Late Night Innominate series. Three untitled ambient tracks all created with modular synthesizers, full of emotion and technical brilliance. Also worth noting, side A is over 16 minutes of pure bliss!

Powell returns to the fray with New Beta Vol. 1 — seven upfront and disarmingly colourful tracks that harness a renewed energy following the intense period of production behind his densely
packed debut LP, Sport (XL, 2016). Thanks, perhaps, to a looser approach and influx of new ideas and machines, the results find him at his most playfully experimental and nuanced, revealing new aspects to his mongrel sound not heard in previous releases.
New Beta Vol. 1 will remind you of what made Powell's music so exciting in the first place — goofy, unhinged sounds sculpted into hard-to-resist and unpredictable arrangements — but in a brighter
rush of clashing tones and splintering rhythms that reinforce his roots in jungle/DNB, wave and early Belgian techno. The result is something comparable to a puckish take on AFX's mutant
Analords or Actress' discrete circuits.
This first volume (there may or may not be more) is effectively the sound of someone raised on all the raving music that the UK post-2000 and the internet has to offer. But rather than some
millenial emperor's new clothes, New Beta weaves its references obliquely throughout the record.
Whether in the curdled gob of chromatic acid opener Teddy, the clash of tart electro arpeggios and stepper drums of Freezer, or the off-the-cuff electro BEATdown of The Bust, Powell persistently transcends his influences in a way that's key to all his work and always thrilling to hear — proving how to do reverential without being derivative.
Despite the range of material on offer (this is more mini-LP than EP), it's testament to Powell's vision that they still sound like him overall. And if any one track sums up this distance from, and
consistency with, his early work, it's the rare beat-less outing of EP closer Electric Sheep, whose visceral, strobing formation betrays a burnt out and unusually sentimental aspect to an artist best known for all-out hedonism.
Cocking a wink at the upfront sonification and syncretic mutations of late '80s Belgian New Beat in both name and form, New Beta Vol. 1 identifies Powell as a more self-aware and emotional Johnny Bravo for electronic music in 2017, serving to subvert the 'roid-rage trudge of EDM and the prosaic mundanity of grid-locked line-dance music with a daringly screwball, anachronistic approach to making dancers feel strange in the rave.

Shelter is one Alan Briand, a young Parisian producer with a strong melodic centre producing a sound that pulls on the Zouk, the Afro, the Balearic and the Ambient palette. Zon Zon Zon is only his fifth release and his first mini album, following the series on International Feel that has brought us material from Len Leise, Wolf Muller and CFCF.

International Feel first met Shelter on a trip to Paris a few years back. It sounds like a story from a Nick Hornby novel, but there's a record shop in Paris called L'International Records, run by a guy called Dave who has a group of young French DJs, producers and promoters that visit the store, hang out and buy and listen to music - a story no doubt currently being repeated throughout the world as new generations immerse themselves in the culture. Shelter is a producer who has sucked up all that he has been hearing around him for a number of years and is now producing a quality sound, pulling on the exotic.

The seven tracks on this mini-album are taken from an extensive pool of Shelter's melodic magic. Some people lead on the beats, some on the production, but Alan focuses on the melody, with the beat closely tied in as support. Señor Zalla starts the album with an afro vibe, closely followed by the Zouk-style of Zon Zon Zon and Port-au-Cœur's mellow Balearic tones, as Shelter twists nature's sounds into his own sonic world. Bucolica, an upbeat wonder of a track, turns to the ambient mantra of Courant Rouge and it's distant cousin Courant Bleu, a classic rhythmic balearic piece with syncopated melody and delayed drums. La Volière (the French can make even bird cage sound beautiful) brings the album to a close with a smile in the mind's eye.


Zon Zon Zon is universal. It could easily have been created in Ibiza or Canada, Australia or Africa. It was in fact recorded at Paris 11, where Shelter forged beauty through the sounds of nature and uncovers a wisdom in its simplicity. We can expect good things from Alan. Here's the first chapter.

* The diverse 4-track masterpiece opens with the stunning title track 'Twin Falls'. Holding hands with 'Spears', the angelic intro begins with reverberating keys dancing over earthly pads below; so many subtlties ebbing and flowing. Then comes the drop into a europhic wonder of anthemic piano, weeping synths, beautiful vocals and delicate pad work. Soul good!
* Next up, the mysterious intro of 'Mantis' instantly mesmerises with it's eerie pads and the sounds of high pitched button programming. Leading into the most dramatic and ginormous drop, this next level soundscape of warped melodic strings and tougher drum and bass edits ooze with attitude.
* Switching the vibe back into the light again 'Holding On' encapsulates beautiful, dreamy, string-plucked breeziness in the perfect ratio of soul and texture. It's catchy vocals layered over rolling bass and an ethereal soundscape is faultless.
* The minimalistic 'Mariner' winds the EP finale up over on the dark side. Precision space for tapping beats and abstract bass; stand to attention tribesters, this is your new world #ekho anthem.

* Joe Moses, also known by his pseudonym Need For Mirrors, makes a welcome comeback to Horizons Music with a three-track EP that'll reinstate your love for his chiselled grooves and melodic production. Time after time Need For Mirrors transfers his decorated career into his music, proving that years spent in both the studio and behind the decks have created a timeless discography, littered with tracks like this. Channelling the same soul as his previous releases, his percussive rollers hint at the drum & bass which made the genre so notorious in the early 2000s.Horizons also help to embody exactly what Need For Mirrors represent. Their own output has been seamless, showcasing both the drum & bass sphere's most exciting prospects, as well as their more adorned counterparts. Known for discovering industry leaders, Horizons has continued their commitment to the genre's foundations, releasing cut after quality cut.

* 'Dead Poets' feat. Onallee pulls you into its shady, winding chords and snake-like bassline, allowing you to enter Need For Mirrors relentless musicality. With its soft piano arpeggios and clicking percussion, there's a beautiful juxtaposition which sifts throughout the composition. Alongside Onallee's vocals, the producer's melody creates a bed of creativity which follows the same tenet he's upheld for years now. 'Virage' peddles another slice of the artist's range. Alongside a low frequency bassline and patterns of raised synths, Need For Mirrors reels you through a shaft of metallic-textures. Building into harder drum loops, 'Virage' becomes more intricate as it progresses, adding yet another direction to its flow.

* Finally, 'Tempora' takes you on a different journey, with a path that's barbed by snapping hats and pluming pan pipes. However, once again there's the ingenious balance of dark and light; despite its undeniable groove, there's still a moody undertone which moves the track into cooler temperatures throughout the mix.The full package illustrates why Need For Mirrors epitomises longevity and impeccable production. That's the style which has made Need For Mirrors so admired. Alongside Horizons, he still stands as a tastemaker travelling into the new year.

Seekersinternational sends dub into another dimension, a place where the laws of physics appear irrelevant. Formerly solid structures are made improbable and surreal, songs become dizzying, recursive mazes. But for all this weirdness, the Canadian producer has generally hung onto dub's loved-up feel. This cassette is different.

Appearing on Japan's Diskotopia, the RaggaPreservationSociety EP traces dub's sonics as they developed into ragga jungle. The manic style is sunk deep in the dance music consciousness. Hearing it get a cubist makeover is a bit like having familiar memories smashed up and reassembled as crazy paving: in other words, disorientating. Crowds of sampled ragga chatter vie for attention, repitched chords and cartoonish basslines hint at two (or more) different keys, and breakbeats and delay trails meet in gruesome pileups. Structures are fragmented and, thanks to the release's mixtape sequencing, it can be hard to tell what is "track" and what is "transition." Most are probably a bit of both.

The chaos is glorious, but the EP is made extra special by the moments when unexpected order emerges. Somehow, several of these tracks are, well, catchy. The best come in a run on the A-side: "SoundDedication"'s sliced piano chords and delirious chipmunk coos, into "DanceGwaan(EazeUp!)," whose skittish breakbeat is cut with tender synth chords, and then "NoCompetition"'s quiet storm sweetness, aided by twinkling Rhodes and a female vocal. On the flipside, "ChannelTwo(MurderousDub)" is just as good. A sliced vocal and bassline form an improbably singable hook, before tumbling into a big old sentimental piano breakdown. Or perhaps the word "breakdown" is redundant on this marvellously broken release.

Eine Welt is a vinyl-only sublabel of Mond Musik, found by spaceLex (Alexander Arpeggio). While Mond Musik focuses on obscure electronic made in Germany in the 80s, Eine Welt concentrates on the contemporaneous submerged electronic scene in Europe. The first release, scheduled on the 28th of November, features undisclosed talents, reunited in a short club-oriented compilation and introduced one by one on the inlay. One of the aim of this project is to build up a community of producers with a different view on dance music.

Early Halcyon staple, and recent LA transplant, Ezekiel Honig's new limited-edition LP is a breathtaking collection of ambient and downtempo electronic pieces. Melancholic yet warm, Honig layers field recordings from around NYC that are bolstered by softly nuanced instrumentation and woozy beats.

London 5-piece Hot Chip's debut album, celebrating it's 10th anniversary this year! There's a quite lovable oddball quality to this album, hints of Prince, the Beastie Boys, Beck.... a souled-up folk vision of chilled out pop music with a twist. 2005. A loungey, electropop sheen covers much of the music, but more than anything, Hot Chip displays an omnivorous approach to the entirety of alt, '60s pop and electronic music history. Their songs are infectious, silly and often weirdly beautiful. Wwith singer-songwriters Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard at the core, Hot Chip's mixture of textured, smart, lo-fi groove with actual humor is incredibly rare, and great

New work for artist MCENDOZ, an album from the atmospheric lounge with unique sound for a trip around the world, exploring the sounds of every territory. For this new project, Medioli uses the collaboration of Marco Rosetti on guitars, Fabrizio Benevelli on sax, Marco Tonelli on the trombone, Gabriele Bolognesi on the flute, Cinzia Di Nuzzo on the violin, Marco Remondini on the cello, Annibale Guarini on the owl, Elena Giardina, Heron Borelli, Daniela "Dhany" Galli, and Cinzia Di Nuzzo to the voices. In total 16 tracks for a collection album!

After the resounding success of their debut Viper Recordings single, 'Neon God / Return of the Snitch', Mob Tactics return with their latest offering, 'Get Dirty / Shark Tank'.

'Get Dirty' does exactly what the name implies. You are going to have to take a shower after listening to this one. Filthy basslines and murky synths are underpinned by hard as nails drums and punctuated by expertly placed vocal samples.

Next up, 'Shark Tank' keeps the pressure high with yet more growling, moody basslines, rolling kicks and razor sharp snares. This one will most definitely make you follow the lead vocal and "put your hands up."
