* Wen drops his first release with Tectonic in fine style. Deep, dark, meticulously placed sounds are moved and positioned with deadly purpose. Morphing moods of early dubstep and grime with techno - Wen achieves this effect without effort, pushing the familiar into unfamiliar territory.

* Opening the EP is 'Backdraft' - a moody roller full of poise and control, expertly crafted at the hands of an increasingly relevant producer. The bass line sounds like it came from a sci-fi movie - in slow motion - tech-y in its sonic, organic in its movement. Oozing over rolling 128bpm beats, 'Backdraft' is littered with short bursts of grime vocals and snatches of rave rewind echoes.

* Flip for the first of 2 tracks on the AA and title track 'Finesse' moves things into a more tribal context - filling the air with a charged tension, before releasing a beastly sub to hammer home the point. Again, at 128bpm, Wen showcases the increasingly blurred lines between original dubstep vibes and techno tempos.

* Lastly, a switch in tempo for 'Ghost', clocking in at 160bpm. Sounding somewhere between classic Photek and early dubstep circa 2005, licked with cutting edge production - not a hair nor hi-hat is out of place here. A genuine 'proto' tune that will likely be retrospectively referenced in time to come.

Here are two pieces by NAUM GABO (Jonnie Wilkes and James Savage) which we used to slow down in many sets and we still do. The speed change from 45 to 33rpm transformed them into new tracks, pulled them over from Glasgow to Cologne, placed them in a different genre, converted the intended scheme into
an acquired effect - set a model into a world. !We hereby materialise this practice and its theory by re-releasing the tracks. Pressed on 45rpm, they've now physically become new compositions. They can't be played at the original speed anymore, but only even slower still. Now it's your turn.

Like watching a massive twisting fire slowly fading into the open skies, accompanied by a drum section so repetitive yet mind bending that you're unsure if it's ever going to stop. This is how Hold starts off. James has been on a path to catch the perfect drone through the last years, playing an abundance of underground drone and noise sets in Berlin and Norway. This can be heard on Hold, though set in an impressively produced setting closer to a recent Swans record rather than the raw noise of those early live shows. It's hard to label the album too much in one style, as it shifts and turns into parts inspired by everything from Shoegaze to Black Metal, all set in a state of endless repetition.

Mundo Recordings proudly presents the new album release "Being Human Being"! A new collaboration between Erik Truffaz and Murcof, with a special artwork by Enki Bilal.

Art is the product of singular vision, but singularity is often enhanced when the 'artist' is plural. Swiss trumpeter Erik Truffaz has worked with Mexican-born sound artist Murcof (originally Fernando Corona) since 2006 when they worked as a trio with Talvin Singh. That fruitful relationship brought together Truffaz's investment in modern jazz (he has been that archetypal thing, a Blue Note artist), a sharp ear for the new discoveries of contemporary composers like Giya Kancheli and others in the eclectic world of new music, and developed a creative conversation with the world of noise, glitch and spectral electronics that is the abode, though by no means isolated abode of Murcof, who is an arch-collaborator, the kind of artist who seems most himself when in dialogue with others. That relationship was suddenly broadened and lent fresh intensity when in 2012 Truffaz met the charismatic Enki Bilal, painter, illustrator and creator of the 'Nikipol' sequence, an man who can conjure a whole world with a few strokes of pen or brush, and imply a whole narrative in a facial expression or modification of the body. It was inevitable that when these men came together, that extraordinary work would ensue. That work is the multi-form piece BeingHumanBeing, which exists as recorded event, as film collage and as the basis - the score, if one likes - of further performances. Its subject matter is clearly stated in the title. If homo sapiens is a singularity in planetary evolution, these are the men best qualified to peer over that event horizon and into the strange world that is our collective future.

After a lengthy break from the electronic music world, Genotype is back with an LP for Exit Records and provides a lesson in stripped back dub influenced music at approximately 170 bpm. Having started his music career in the mid nineties under the legendary alias Just Jungle, with releases on the massively influential labels of that era such as Trouble On Vinyl, Renegade Hardware and Reinforced Records, its no surprise that he's managed to capture the essence of rawness in his recent music akin to the early years of Jungle. Many producers have tried and failed to bring back the old skool sound with an original flavor but Genotype has managed this by resisting the temptation to lash in the tired old classic breaks and instead has drawn for the more organic sounding percussion and drum kits. The dubbed out theme runs throughout the album paying homage to his love for West Indian music which he has been involved in for many years and naturally influences the music he creates. Genotype is a man of few words and prefers to let his music do the talking so check out the album and draw your own conclusions.

Joe Seven returns for another single on dBridge's excellent Exit Records. This one arriving as if from nowhere, whoever clicks the soundclip link first is likely one of the first outside the secretive Exit camp to hear the audio....

London's Loxy and Finland's Resound have always been known for their ragga-tinged, hardhittingsound, where each beat slams through with an untouchable technical precision. The two producers have been combining forces for the last three years - including their 2009 anthem 'Green Destiny / Storyboard' (Digital Soundboy), remixes for Kryptic Minds, additions to Renegade Hardware compilations, last year's 'No Money - Deadly Venom/Driving Force' (Def Recordings), and their contribution to Exit Records' 'Mosaic: Volume One' ('Vertigo') earlier this year. But the duo's long-awaited debut long player marks their first collaboration that has absolutely no boundaries: as experimental and creative as it gets. True to form, as most Exit Records releases go, 'Burning Shadows' sees both producers finding their stride, and treading into surprising new sonic territories from a few different directions. Taking the energy and force of early tech-heavy Drum & Bass, Loxy & Resound bring the genre into a sound that's uniquely their own.

Next in line on a very busy Autonomic schedule is a single from one of the hottest vocal talents around, Riya. Lacing the Autonomic sound with her voice was an obvious choice for the Autonomic camp and the results are two timeless tracks that have been picked up on by a huge cross section of DJs such as Skream, Youngsta,dBridge, Instra:mental and many more. A) Riya - Seems Like - Having become popular after featuring on the Fabric/dBridge and Instra:mental Autonomic CD, this track has rightly been given a home on the Autonomic imprint and has been eagerly awaited by many. Riya proves her songwriting talents once again and complemented with the backing track by a certain other Autonomic
artist, this one was never going to fail. AA) Riya - The Cycle - The AA side offers us a different angle from Riya, with a steadily building backing track her vocals loop in a hypnotic and enchanting cycle around Rhodes chords and a pumping heartbeatlike 4×4 bassline. Pure simplicity and an uncluttered soundscape gives this track the listen again qualities expected from Autonomic.

'The Binary Collective is a new project formed by the Autonomic family in order to make spontaneous music as a collective with multiple inputs from whoever happens to be in the studio at the time. It could be two people involved on production duties or it could be four or more such as on this first release. Made on a drunken afternoon crammed into Rosies Box (dbridges Studio), the collective put their talents together and the tracks formed themselves like Voltron, The Binary Collective was born.' The first release is limited to 300 vinyl.

The first release for Consequence and Joe Sevens new alias They Live is on dBridge & Instra:mentals Autonomic label. Creeping in with a slightly haunting melody and sparse drums, Pure Palms starts off with little indication of where the track might lead; it feels as though it could go in any direction. As it slowly builds, the warmth and weight and deep-set rhythms that Consequence is known for begin settling, and open up to an evocative, widescreen track of immense beauty. They Lives musicality comes through strong throughout the detailed turnings of the downtempo masterpiece, with immersive low-end fills and intricate percussion that take all headphones hostage. Dont Know What To Say brings a darker edge, with crackling sound effects and an ominous, spine-chilling bassline that creates intense and intriguing dynamics. As a solemn melody builds, once again They Live bring a cinematic feel to the dense, ever-growing atmosphere. Brooding with textured sounds, skyscraping synths and head-nodding beats, the mesmerizing track shows huge promise of whats to come from the powerful duo.

Faith Coloccia and Alex Barnett return to Blackest Ever Black with their second duo album, Weld, working with synthesizers, affected vocals, raw electrical noise, field recordings, EVP techniques, tape manipulation and drum machines to create a music at once lucid and mystic. Its songs embody various experiential philosophies and objectives: searching for the sacred in the forgotten and supposedly useless, exploring the meaning of natural', listening for the pulse of the ancient, using technology both to materialise memory and to dream a folklore for a future age. Coloccia and Barnett's ambition is apparent early on in the stately, medievalist keyboard/choral poetics of 'Truth Teller', moving through the agitated wormhole techno of 'Dreamsnake', to the white light-emitting, near-symphonic plainchant of 'Healer'. 'Blight''s zero-hour synth pulsations are first interrupted, then engulfed, by an extra-terrestrial broadcast of piercing bell and glass-tones, 'AM Horizon' is pitched bewitchingly between Prophet-5 pulp futurism and earthbound, atavistic dread, 'Agate Cross''s baroque harmonic sequence disintegrates at its very climax, cooling and dissipating into a deep starfield of pure tone. 'Ash Grove' and 'Rose Eye' are exhilarating exercises in contemporary musique concrète: complex timbral constructs in which Coloccia's disembodied glossolalia, swooping strings and other nameless sonic spectra conspire to evoke extra-dimensional space and the highest spiritual drama. Weld speaks its own distinctive dream-language, but we would certainly recommend it to anyone enamoured of the brittle sci-fi synth-scapes in Caroline K's Now Wait For Last Year, the amorphous electronics of Beatriz Ferreyra's recent work, Conrad Schnitzler's more gothic moments, and even the gravest metaphysical reckonings of a Stockhausen or a Rozmann.

Nu-disco duo Flight Facilities release their latest single 'Stand Still', earmarking a full year since Clair de lune was released in late 2012. In that time, it has amassed 2.5 million views on youtube and the recent vinyl release is selling furiously.
'Stand Still' will be available with two incredible remixes, featuring Future Classic alumni (and Lithuania's Producer of the Year) Mario Basanov, and New York's Com Truise, who brings his synth-heavy sounds to the table.
The original is a hit single in Australia, France and the USA, with the video clip soaring at 30K plays in its first day and scoring a Vimeo staff pick as well.

Electronic experimentalist James Pants returns with his first full-length release since his 2011 self-titled album. Savage is inspired inspired by Martin Denny flourishes, royalty-free breakbeats, Gary Wilson, and Hamburg's infamous Golden Pudel club.

It's been four years since James Pants' last record, and accordingly it sounds different to what has come before: Savage adds more of a lo-fi digital sheen compared to Welcome (2008), Seven Seals (2009) and James Pants (2011). Over those four years, he's honed his skills as a webmaster - check rds.zone for his latest creations - and stockpiled new music. In fact, there are more than 100 tracks that were considered for the release. As Pants explains, 'Instead of labouring months over one song, I like to move quickly onto the next.'

At one point a clattering house piece rises from the mix, punctuating the record's sensual, vaguely funereal exhaustion. Edition of 300 individually numbered copies pressed on clear wax** Italian electro-acoustic maestros Giuseppe Ielasi and Nicola Ratti, aka Bellows, serve an engrossing, labyrinthine LP of freeform concrète dub on our occasional Boomkat Editions label. 'Rustl' is Bellows' 4th album following a critically acclaimed trio of LP's released since 2007 for Entr'acte, Planam and Kning Disc, and also follows our last release by another Milanese artist, Lorenzo Senni, which was coincidentally also mastered by Giuseppe Ielasi. In a slight change from their usual working method, 'Rustl' represents a nimbly frayed sound much closer to what they do in a live environment. Using a few cassette players with tape loops animated by a couple of effects and recorded direct to two-track tape with no overdubs or mixing, they improvise ten viscous, amorphous plays framed by deep, bubbling subs, skittish percussions and wheezing ferric abstractions with the most uncanny grasp of dub space. We've lived with 'Rustl' for a few months now and are still surprised by way their haptic small sounds reveal tiny new sleights and discordant quarks with every listen, offering something more akin to a petri dish of live, kinetic cultures than the more fixed forms of their previous slabs. It's become a real late night favourite around these parts, and we're very pleased to release it into the stream. If you're into the first couple of Pole albums, or indeed the work of Alva Noto and Raster Noton at their prime, we encourage you to check this out.

Bambooman returns with two fresh cuts on a 7" for Sonic Router, his third release with the label. One features legendary UK rapper, Jehst who paints his trademark vivid imagery over sparse, introverted production.

Moresounds has left the training camp and is now at the controls of his own craft. A dub fanatic, he stays true to the techniques of King Tubby, and from behind his desk sends dancefloors crazy with pinches of hip-hop and jungle in his authentic and energetic live show. This approach caught the attention of Om Unit's Cosmic Bridge label in 2012 before his debut EP on Astrophonica in 2013. Since then his music has appeared on Doc Scott's 31 Recordings and has added trademark cosmic dub seasoning to Machinedrum's Vapor City project. An impressive start to his career, echoed in Fact Magazine's inclusion of the producer as one to watch in 2015.

Moresounds' second release on Astrophonica, Pure Niceness, builds on these foundations and launches us into orbit with the opening track Reality Tune, a mix of anthemic vocals and drawn out subs, creating that elusive, edgy vibe that sits somewhere between uplifting and terrifying. Altercations goes head first into manic overdrive with heated footwork rhythms set against roots elements. The title track Pure Niceness takes a restrained and more thoughtful approach, using key ingredients to cook up a minimal codeine fuelled soundclash with SEG bleeps and sirens firing off over a simple bass groove. Known for his past releases on Nation, L.I.E.S, and Cititrax, Chicago's Beau Wanzer delivers a 12 track LP of archival material culled from tapes stored away from years past, the tracks in question being plucked between 2002-2008.
Wanzer has stuck to his grotesque guns over the years, keeping his music personal, grating, and down right bizarre.
Each track takes a narrative of its own, from the languidly vocaled, yet uncannily catchy "Mob Boss" to the possessed murmurs of "Love Tone," Wanzer has created a completely unique collection of music which engages the listener all the way through. TIP!

Om Unit returns with his third EP for Civil Music, 'Aeolian' and its perhaps his finest statement to date. Following on from EPs 'Transport' and 'The Timps' and his collaborations with Machinedrum as 'Dream Continuum', Om Unit continues to forge his own path at the nexus of instrumental beats and electronic music and further confirm his incredible versatility as a producer. Aeolian showcases five exceptional and emotive tracks that rouse the senses and together form a cinematic and journeying soundtrack. Focused predominantly, but not exclusively, around the 85/170BPM the unique qualities of 'Aeolian' are echoed with the choice of remixers; revered producers Reso and Sweatson Klank both contribute revisions to the package.Aeolian is not named after the Aeolian musical mode but after the Aeolian processes, referring to the wind's ability to shape the Earth and other planets. Om Unit says 'in making this record, a lot of ideas flowed through these tracks that cumulatively have carved and sculpted the EP'.The EP opens with 'Ulysses'. Deep and melodic it combines elements of liquid, footwork and trap. Set against ultra sharp percussion and heavy rhythmic calculations the uplifting melody contrasts the melancholic atmosphere and epic synthscape. Reso's remix strips down the original and focuses on jungle leaning and constantly evolving drum programming, whilst Sweatson Klank adds some soft sampling, creating a laidback swagger in the padded ambience and molding the melodic core with warm downtempo soul.'Dark Sunrise' feature the elegant voice of Tamara Blessa, the sweetness and fragility of her vocals span the spacious filtering layers of bass and the reverberating drums. Delicate rhythms and a clean and effective structure maximise the emotive nature of this track as it broadcasts a message for change. 'Fumes', serves almost as a midway point in the EP, it's slow half time bump, warm bass and head-nodding throbs lend reflective feel to the minimal stepping beat. 'Lightworker's Call' features Cosmic Bridge collaborator Kromestar and is heavily hip-hop influenced, its drums and siren-like synths have a 90s west coast feel and roll through futuristic landscapes before hitting a wall of square wave bass. Driven by the snapping snare and low end bass weight, the Kromestar input is clear to see. Similar to 'Ulysses,' 'Slowfast Matrix' balances stormy synths and layered rhythms over skittering percussion, with the final product being somewhere between juke, jungle and liquid. The second drop, however, deletes the sped-up drums and favours a half-time alternative providing an epic closing outro to the EP.Om Unit is one of the most exciting artists to emerge in recent times, and packed with unique combinations of style, and diverse demonstrations of its makers adaptability, Aeolian shows us why. Just as the 'Aeolian processes' shape the surface of the Earth, Om Unit is helping to shape music's electronic landscape.

More amazing international neurofunk from the Close2Death camp. The Gloucester, UK-based label have been carving a path through drum & bass over the past few years, establishing a name and an identity by only dealing in the very best sounds from the edges of reality.

On C2D015 they present two mighty slices of future music, from Russia and from France. After releases on You So Fat and Ammunition with Kaibre, Russia's Effector returns with The Destroyed Kingdom, this time around in the capable hands of Neonlight. From its sleek, shimmering intro, filled with electronic pulses and rising, angelic backing, the remix takes you far and wide, from this world to others. The track lifts slowly, but soon establishes its meaning, which is all-out neuro destruction. Neonlight marks his own territory on the track, lending it an edge as only he can do. This is one unholy banger, full of energy and life. The remixer takes the track into new areas, but never loses sight of the original's soul and purpose. Get ready.

The flip, meanwhile, comes from French electronic producer Landscapers, who delivers Chords From Woods. Mixing drum & bass and ambient in his sound, Louis Pertuy has achieved something definitely unique. Chords From Woods establishes itself early on, with a sharp and dynamic melody rising out of the intro. To this the producer adds kicks and the rumble of a bassline. The track pitches up, as the drums roll on. Crazy synths come in after the drop, with Landscapers happy to alternate between the electronic, glitchy elements and more straight-ahead drum & bass ideas throughout the track. Different, divergent and utterly addictive, Chords From Woods shows just how much Close2Death are pushing things forward as we look to 2015.

Piticu and Jeefo, most valuable updates to the thriving Romanian scene, are sharing sides at the latest release by Arma Label. Warm morning beats in 'Arzi Unde' and 'Moa Phoa' give the idea of what Piticu is doing to late dancefloors getting people on board for continuous euphoric journeys. Jeefo develops his sound as if it were a motion. Sharp and focused 'Attack' is a persistent virtual flight that goes through the array of stunning futuristic objects. 'Limonada' has more close-ups and the intimacy much needed to enjoy the beauty of idealistic soundscapes.

The eighth chapter of the Subaltern Records saga comes from Italian collective D-Operation Drop, celebrating their return to the label with a dark menacing EP that has shaken dancefloors all over the world.
Don't Breathe:
The title track opens the EP with an apocalyptic vocal which is quickly complemented by roaring synth-monsters and a stone-cold sub bass. This is the obscure side of D-Operation Drop manifesting, taking you to the edge of the dance with relentless fury.
Flumen:
This unreal collaboration with Subaltern's very own Piezo is a continuously evolving journey. Starting off with gentle harmonies, it quickly erupts into a carefully curated symphony of driving bass and cutting edge mids. British young talent Wayfarer shows his takes on the title track adding his trademark melodies and devastating growls. With his razor-sharp sound design and production the man delivers a tight dancefloor stomper which will pose a challenge for most sound systems, driving them to full power.

Both are known well for their impressive solo work with various labels including Med School Music, Symmetry and Blu Mar Ten. But when Detail & Tiiu come together they produce a truly epic sound. If you heard their haunting 'Days Go By' release back in 2013, you'll be pleased to hear of their return with the mesmerising 'Delusion' track. And to put the icing on the musical cake, Detail tops it off with a slice of his darkly tainted tech funk that we know and love.

Detail employs the vocals of the beautiful and talented Tiiu for 'Delusion'. A track of contrasting elements blending the serene tranquility of the glistening pad sweeps and chords before the dark low sinking bassline and steppy beats slide in. The brooding, emotive, almost melancholic vocal has that hypnotic lost in the music quality that gives the track an understated intensity that'll have you listening to it over and over again.

The opening to 'Breakout' is simply stunning. Lofty, buzzing, arcing inter-stellar sounding sweeps, evanescent hats narrowing in with a seductive female vocal hit that faints as the punchy bass kicks in. Sparse minimalistic beats with teases of old skool breaks accompanied by that swelling granular mid bass drapes the track in a cloak of darkness. Deep, dark and edgy.

'There will come a time when there are no human beings remaining to remember that anyone ever existed or that our species ever did anything. Everything that we did and built and wrote and thought and discovered will be forgotten and all of this will have been for naught. Maybe that time is coming soon and maybe it is millions of years away, but even if we survive the collapse of our sun, we will not survive forever.'

Change is constant, collapse inevitable. With 'Inevitable Collapse' new project FAR rejects templates and dancefloor patterns, turning in four works of spontaneous techno contemplations. On the A-side 'Hypocrite' opens with billowy, retroactive synths, weaved into some desolate sci-fi landscape. 'Ignite' then wields hand drums and sparse electronic meditations akin to early Shackleton-meets-Aphex Twin through a Polygon Window. 'Carrier' on the B-side is as chugging techno as it gets, albeit haunted by a deconstructive FAR presence. Finally 'Smash The Walls' concludes in rolling waves of unpredictable surf. Recorded in long single takes and produced with solicitous mix-downs, 'Inevitable Collapse' is an intriguing debut for those more peripherally inclined.

Innercity, the nom de plume of Belgian producer Hans Dens, has been releasing his brand of entrancing LoFi electronica on his own cassette label Why So Serious, on Aguirre Records and a slur of other specialized labels (amongst which his acclaimed album on Seattle-based Further Records). Orre is proud to present two new amazing tracks on this 7", his first outing for the label. LoFi is in fact an ugly word to describe Innercity's music as the effect of his loop-based compositions is nothing short of maximal. His free-flowing tracks glimmer with warmth and are at times soft as silk, resulting in an inward sound that is inviting, yet strangely eerie and distant. With every loop, Dens seems to tap into another emotional level. Different layers suggest evolution, but at the same time, stasis is at the center of his music, making his tracks circle around themselves, like an electronic maelstrom in which it is a pleasure to drown. 'An Ecstacy Shoredrive Into The Bleak Bliss Of No Mind Waters' on the A-side has an overpowering light shining through it. The source of that light, although familiar, is uncertain. Dens leaves it up to the listener to make his own associations, but looking up instead of down seems to be the thing to do here. 'Our Final Bloom' on the B-side is more earth-bound and concrete, darker as well. The voice sample used adds to its sense of delightful alienation and more explicit melancholy.

And with names like Concord Dawn and MC Coppa in the equation, the 6th release on Eatbrain stands out as a must-own for any neurofunk head.

Nightwalkers EP kicks off with an dynamic collaboration between Telekinesis and Coppa, the Leeds-based MC who's collaborations with Prolix and Mindscape made enormous waves within the drum and bass scene in 2012. Telekinesis's knack for atmosphere comes into full effect at the outset before Coppa's infectious rhymes take hold, winding things up into an irresistible drop. Still possessing the same raw ferocity that Telekinesis has become known for, 'Pocket Full Of Drops' takes their sound into playful territory. Combining their dirty signature bass, cleanly constructed drums, and Coppa's clever lyricism, 'Pocket Full of Drops' a true mood-lifter bound to crush any dancefloor it touches. Good vibes, plain and simple.

Next up, New Zealand badboy Concord Dawn features on the EP's eponymous track, 'Nightwalkers.' Opening with an optimistic-sounding concoction of warm pads, a light drum break, and shimmering synth arpeggios, the melody soon takes a darker turn as the full-moon comes out and the dead begin to rise. By the time the tune drops, it's too late - you've already been bitten by Telekinesis and Concord Dawn's monstrous musical creation, and there is no hope for you. One thing is certain; 'Nightwalkers' is a hauntingly contagious track capable of turning an otherwise normal human into a mindless dancing abomination. Beware.

The EP's third track, 'Lich,' promises to slay crowds with its upbeat neurofunk vibes. Clean drums, spirited keys, and a dirty yet carefully polished bassline make this energetic roller a dangerous piece of ammunition.

Nightwalkers EP wraps up with a truly fun yet complex exercise in future funk, 'She Wants To Skate'. A tune made purely for the dancefloor, 'She Wants To Skate' jumps right into things with tight, lively drums and an uplifting synth riff. Telekinesis's trademark bass warms itself up, before ripping into full swing at the drop, twisting and turning throughout the track amidst a catchy chopped up vocal. 'She Wants To Skate' is a particularly infectious joint, bound to get bodies moving and put smiles on faces.

FINALLY the time has come to re-release the first ever recordings by Belgian minimal synth masters Twilight Ritual. Released in 1982 in a tiny cassette edition this album has not been heard by many people. The Ritual" includes some of their best work, from mysterious dark synthpopsongs (Elegy) to club music (Webb-men) and the epic 14-minute track (Up To Now).

Twilight Ritual was/is the main project by Geert Coppens and Peter Bonne. During the early eighties they were involved in many other bands including Autumn and Linear Movement (both re-released on Minimal Wave), but Twilight Ritual is by far the most inspired project. The spirit of the band lingers on beneath the work of Autumn through A Split Second and stands besides the best tracks of bands such as Oppenheimer Analysis and League Of Nations.

About ten years ago Toshiya Kawasaki founded his label Mule Musiq in Tokyo. The launch was driven by his desire to introduce the world to the music of Kuniyuki Takahashi aka Koss - one of the most multi-layered contemporary musicians of Japan.

That was down in 2005 and ever since Mule Musiq emerged, gave birth to sub labels and built up a colourful artist family that consists of musicians like DJ Sprinkles, Eddie C or Lawrence. Who always stayed and continued to evolve in terms of mastery, musicality and freedom of artistic speech is Kuniyuki.

As a producer his love for music was never caged in a singular style or genre. Under his own name, as Koss or in collaborative works with musicians like Henrik Schwarz or Marcus Henriksson and Sebastian Mullaert aka Minilogue he explored many different musical languages - from house and techno to ambient, jazz and classical.

As a listener he also loves a variety of styles ranging from old 4AD and Factory Records releases to industrial bands like SPK and Test Dept, producers like Brian Eno or Daniel Lanois and pianists like Bill Evans, Abdullah Ibrahim and Lyle Mays.

They all left a hidden mark on his music without ever been copied. Traces of the three mentioned jazz piano masters can now be heard and felt while listening to 'Silence', his latest, fifth solo album under his moniker Koss.

Its title is an announcement, as the listener does not find any club groove, overwhelming bass power or rhythmic dance attraction on it. Nevertheless all twelve tracks are very rhythmical and groove gently.

At large the piano plays a key role even tough most of the music has been created electronically. It's quite and calm melodies are diving in smooth electronic spheres and field recordings or get embraced by low-key percussions and reduced string elements. As usual Koss's music is not overcharged in order to leave much space between the notes.

A technique that enlarges the silence and sharpens the ear for sounds that float between and above it. Everything was produced in-depth in his very own private studio while using music making computer software, a Roland System-1, Jupiter-8 and the dynamic percussion synth Korg wavedrum.

Nothing that is audible is written, as Koss likes to improvise to get surprised while playing. Only later, after he has been totally absorbed by what his mind and soul performed he adds some detailed fixing for the better sounding.

His initial plan was to produce a real acoustic sounding album, but then the electronics joint softly and Koss found intuitively a simple and deep balance for both sonic worlds.

If you ask the producer and sound designer from the town Sapporo what else inspired him for his latest ambient acoustic adventures he names Mule Musiq maker Toshiya Kawasaki, who always plays to him his recent favourite music from around the world when they both meet to share their music passion.

He also tells that landscapes have an impact on his quiet art as they give him energy and silence in a Ying and Yang sense. One of his new tracks is also called 'Ancient Train' and functions as an allusion to his album 'Ancient Rain' from 2008 in the sense that for Koss the process of making music never really stops and that all his older works continue to gleam in his latest.

A wide range of inspirational zones that together work as an overall superstructure out of which Koss originates very distinct personal arrangements. They are deep, minimal and offer much to explore. If you surrender yourself to 'Silence' all heartfelt manufactured tracks will percolate through the entire body and spread what the title of his youngest album stands for.

old school dub reggae and afrobeat.
Troyer - a trained architect - creates a distinctive
and overall impressive soundarchitecture
throughout the whole album full of dub references
and abstract electronics that refer to Troyer's past
as a MEGO artist. Comic novel and music are
connected to each other and form a fascinating
gesamtkunstwerk. Classic dub effects act as lead
characters not only in the graphic novel but also in

Ever wondered what Untold jamming with Gang of Four after a night at Rage might sound like Of course you haven't. Neither have we. But it'll give you some clue to the sound-clash he's cooked up for the final part of his Change in a Dynamic Environment trilogy.Kane picks up a nagging post-punk baseline and drives it like Marty McFly through three decades of club music. While Overdrive
simmers with punk attitude before spitting right in the face of melody and exploding into a raucous, drums & bass jam.

The series 'Journey To The Centre Of The Song' celebrates one song at a time, and presents it in many guises and interpretations. This first release in the series is dedicated to the classic tune 'Tabu', written by Margarita Lecuona (also responsible for 'Babalu', a classic as well), who was a cousin of the famous Cuban composer and pianist Ernesto Lecuona. The song, recorded as 'Tabou', 'Tabu' and 'Taboo' is a jazz and popular music standard which was first recorded by Cuarteto Machin in 1934 and later made popular by The Lecuona Cuban Boys and others. The aforementioned guises and interpretations span genres from Charles Blackwell's upbeat surfstrumental shaker to the brassy exotic tones of Tito Rivera, from the Cumbian island sounds of Cyril Diaz to Sylvie Moras silky smooth popcorn rendition. The record is completed by Arthur Lyman's crazy voodoo lounge version that evokes visions of palm trees and sun-drenched white sand. So sit back and enter the intoxicating world of ... 'TABOO'.

A fairly new artist on the juke/bass music scene SKUBI, a 23 year old producer from Dayton in Ohio is looking to make a name for himself. Taking some heavy influences from juke, southern hip hop, UK bass music and the sound of the Midwest, Brain music has all the delayed hand claps and hip hop vocals that any hip hop or trap fap could wish for, but Skubi still manages to keep a future bass sound while running at 160bpm and creates a truly unique and original style that will attract a wide spectrum of musical tastes. Both tracks, brain music and wet are extremely original and well rounded productions and are already receiving acclaim from some big names including OM Unit, Moresounds & Sarah Farina.
One thing is for sure Skubi's tracks are guaranteed to have heads nodding, hips gyrating and feet shuffling from here to Mars and back again. For the first remix we have selected Norway's finest SLICK SHOOTA. With tracks signed to Mad decent & loose squares and his first vinyl EP out earlier last year, slick has proven time a and time again that he can consistently deliver to the people what they want to hear, and this time is no different. With what seems to be inspired by the resent dub war being waged by various artists and producers all over the net, Slick Shoota's remix of Brain music kicks off to an all out Jungle stomper! With its rolling drums and classic jungle dub samples Slick gives the track a brilliant 90's warehouse rave feel while still sounding completely new and fresh. For the second remix we have chosen the very talented HOUSE OF BLACK LANTERNS. Dylan Richards, AKA Zilla, AKA King Cannibal, AKA House of Black lanterns has got a resume that would send most producers weak at the knees. He has both digital and vinyl releases from some of the best labels in the business including Ninja Tunes, Warp and Houndstooth. Not to mention being hand picked by Bjork and Liam Hewlett to work on their musical projects. The House Of Black Lanterns Remix of Wet has managed to beautifully balance the sound of the vinyl, with Dylan offering up a pulsating chugger of a juke track. With a beat like a hypnotically thumping heart this melodic slow-fast rendition of Wet perfectly rounds off the musical journey.

Expect to encounter enduring sample spotting relapses, back seat panel busting beats and a sonic dexterity accustom to his regular pseudonyms. Inside the ride. With a momentarily pausing of his much coveted 'Quinoline Yellow' and 'Tatamax' aliases, Luke Williams returns with his debut 'Tap Throw' release. Williams substitutes his open toed wellies and hill jogging inclines for a backward nod, forwarding facing four hit combo, of vintage jungle. The Dip Switches E.P delivers a 23 minute serving carved directly from the freshly constructed 'Yellow Machines' series; 'Modified Magic'.

Matt Tolfrey's musical roots lie in Nottingham where he regularly attended DIY events as well as the infamous The Bomb nightclub, the latter being a home to authentic British deep house via the likes of Kelvin Andrews and Dave Congreve. Soon after these formative years, just after the turn of the century Tolfrey found himself behind the decks at The Bomb - and later, Stealth - where he began to carve out a reputation for himself as a varied and adept house selector. Craig Richards, also a Bomb regular, spotted Tolfrey's skills and invited him to play at fabric in 2004 which marked the beginning of a long relationship with the club and its auspicious resident.

After a move to London around this time, Tolfrey kicked off Leftroom and signed his debut EP to the burgeoning Crosstown Rebels, two moves which fully drew him into the music industry. Since then, Tolfrey's productions have cropped up on the likes of Cocoon, Culprit, Phonica, Rekids and, most recently, Skream's Of Unsound Mind while stewarding Leftroom to drop releases from the likes of DJ Bone, Laura Jones, Huxley and Kate Simko.

The result of eleven years of playing and attending fabric (Tolfrey can be seen regularly at the club when not he's travelling himself), fabric 81 is a distillation of his experiences and musical memories rather than a straight up trip through the latest promos and hot cuts.

Across Tolfrey's mix we're treated to a broad selection of styles and compositions old and new, all tied together in the DJ's bumping, energetic and sometimes idiosyncratic dancefloor style, with tracks frequently weaving in and out of the mix or laid over others throughout their full duration. Nods to the past come from Nail ('I Think It's Love') on Tolfrey's beloved DiY Discs and Soichi Terada's 'Tokyo XXX' while contemporary offerings come in the shape of cuts from Genius Of Time, Jon Convex and a number of Leftroom exclusives. Tolfrey, ever the slave to his record collection, also drops in bonafide classics such as Doc Martin & Eddie Amador's take on Aaron Carl's 'My House' and a Derrick Carter re-rub of 2nd Shift's 'Somethin' Else'.

Pure Stepper vibes full of fat bass lines are the main ingredient of this release, the artwork is based on the original Wheel of Samsara' which is a Buddhist term that literally means "continuous movement', Samsara is defined as the continual repetitive cycle of birth and death that arises from ordinary beings' grasping and fixating on a self and experiences. Once again done by our dear friend Gil Nunes who has been with us since day one.
This release is limited to 500 copies, hand stamped sleeve and 180g heavyweight vinyl.

The album evokes the deadening American landscapes of school shootings, military suicides & societal dissolution. Written and recorded in a crappy apartment in North Hollywood while surrounded by poverty, drug abuse and suicide. A dynamic LP that covers a lot of ground in it's 45 minutes: ethereal voices, techno rhythms, blasts of electronics. Released in an edition of 200 with unique silk screened sleeves and stamps, color print insert and download code.

The Jazzassins, 4 producers out of 3 european countries, making the most organic sound in Drum n Bass of 2015. Viennas Paul SG came up with the idea in 2012 after collaborating with his closest musical minds over and over again and quickly formed The Jazzassins consisting of Flowrian, Pulsaar, Decon and Paul SG himself.

They went to the swiss alps for a week, booked themselves a lovely wooden chalet and made the plan happen to produce an entire album in only 7 days.

(Multiple Degree of Freedom) EP brings us to the 8th Modal Analysis release; an improvisation-noise extract from the studio collaboration between the Greek electronic producer Panos Kyveleas, (a.k.a. BIOMASS), and the Italian impro-noise duo R.O.M. (Alessandro Quintavalle/electronic bass & Luca Pastore/tenor sax). M.D.O.F.#1 presents a series of soundscape textures, blended with (processed) saxophone melodies. M.D.O.F.#2 and M.D.O.F.#3 are two very unique
noise/free-jazz sessions, including both bass and saxophone solos, along with distorted ambience. M.D.O.F.#4 is based on rhythmic bass themes and abstract electronic and saxophone sounds, fused into drone layers. Over the past few years Gabriel Saloman has developed a reputation for releasing penetrating works of haunting beauty. Known for his part in Yellow Swans (alongside Pete Swanson), Saloman has taken the sweeping drones and fried electricity of his former band and embedded them within an expanding pallette of bowed strings, martial percussion and resonant piano. The first of two volumes to be released individually on vinyl and together on CD, The Disciplined Body is a 34 minute work that moves through ghostly minimalist drones, poly-vocal drumming and culminates in an aching climb through sheets of shimmering guitar chords before erupting in a violent spurt of harsh noise.

Following their debut EP with 'Ezra Was Right' and support from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Grandbrothers are presenting their debut album 'Dilation". Twelve modern Experimental / Ambient / Piano pieces, whose sounds are generated completely out of a grand piano using small electromagnetic hammers. Grandbrothers are Erol Sarp and Lukas Vogel. After meeting at university in Dusseldorf, Erol and Lukas formed Grandbrothers to tie together their respective musical backgrounds and disciplines: Erol is a trained jazz pianist, while by day Lukas constructs synthesizers at Access Music. Together, they create a sound that combines classical composition with modern, experimental production and sound design. Their first song, 'Ezra Was Right', earned an early supporter in the esteemed Gilles Peterson, who included the track on his Bubblers 10 compilation and played it numerous times on his Worldwide radio show for BBC Radio 6 Music, with the song eventually being voted #7 by listeners in his end-of-year poll in 2013. A full EP on FILM followed - backed by remixes from legendary Manchester DJ Greg Wilson, Optimo's JD Twitch, and Kim Brown - which sold out its initial run within ten days. Now, Grandbrothers present their debut album, Dilation. The product of two years work, Dilation builds on some of the ideas established on 'Ezra Was Right' while exploring further elements of minimalism, ambient music, IDM, and techno.

It's been a big year for Eatbrain - the Budapest-based drum & bass label headed up by Jade. Between a highly successful full-length outing with Tales of the Undead LP and solo EPs from an ever growing roster of quality producers, Eatbrain has continued to establish itself as a reliable source for premier neurofunk drum & bass. The beginning of 2015 sees Czech producer Qo deliver his debut solo EP for Eatbrain. Over the last few years, he's become one of the strongest voices in hard drum & bass, owing to his expert skills in the studio - where he's carved out a distinct, aggressive brand of neurofunk - as well as the DJ booth. After absolutely smashing his debut Eatbrain track earlier this year ('Killcode') it seemed only fitting that he deliver several more.

Qo kicks off with his highly anticipated collaboration with MC Rymetyme 'The Fuse'. Setting the stage with foreboding atmosphere and pattering percussion, Qo wastes no time before letting Rymetyme take control with dark lyricism of anthemic proportions. 'The Fuse' warms up to critical levels before making full impact; a storming combination of absolutely lethal bassline and drums which only grow in intensity. It's no The eponymous 'Atari X' is a far more disjointed affair . After warming up with a spooky synthetic melody during the onset, Qo takes us into steppy territory with punchy, jagged drums punctuated by an aching reece. 'Cyber Ninja' sees Qo joined by fellow Czech bassline technician Computerartist. Both producers' talent for sound design is immediately apparent, from the futuristic intro to the dynamic, pumping sub-bass throughout. 'Evil Dead' maintains the anxiety which permeates Atari X EP with eerie atmospherics and a relentless combo of tearing bass and percussion. As if the original wasn't enough of a killer, Mindscape rounds out the release with a remix of Qo and Nuklear MC's 'Killcode' - a gem from Tales of the Undead LP. Fast, pounding low-end and aggressive, hypnotic vocals from Nuklear make Mindscape's take on 'Killcode' a visceral experience...to say the least. Eatbrain opens 2015 in style.

After 14 years working with a huge spectrum of D&B greats, London based Irishman Cian McCann has long since established his place in the scene. From his early days in Dublin with the Bassbin label to working with the likes of Calibre, 4 Hero, Klute, Alix Perez, Rockwell and Noisia, he has never stood still. 2008's Cheap Shots LP for Total Science's CIA Records was a high point, with lead track Walk Away bringing vocalist Steo to the worlds attention. Also a noted remixer, he has retouched artists as diverse as Dillinja, Slam, Rolo from Faithless, Sabre, Lemon D and Lenny Fontana. Zero T's discography shows the diversity that his DJ sets have always shown, ranging from full vocal smoothness to darker, more technical styles. You are as likely to find his music on labels like Subtitles and Shogun as on Soul:r or Signature. 2010 saw two milestones reached; the Launch of Footprints, Zero T's own label, and compiling and mixing FabricLive052 for the esteemed London venue. After a short period away from the scene, 2014 sees the return of Zero T as a producer and DJ. Hailing down from Freiburg (Black Forest) the Italian Bass-Player Alessandro Greco aka ENEA has been working on his beats and basslines for quite a few years. Today he can look back on various releases on top-class labels like Fokuz, Have a Break Recordings and Basswerk Records amongst others. Now he's gearing up for his first full length LP on Celsius Recordings, Nightwalk combines sultry sweet lo-fi sounds with sharp production. A variety of styles and tempo's can be found showcasing his versatility and views as a producer. Pure and beautiful.

Medical Records continues it's unearthing of extremely rare singles in it's Electroconvulsive Therapy series. Once again, teaming up with Crispy Nuggets blog, we have assembled yet another collection of long out of print and underground singles and rare tracks. This compilation includes 3 complete A + B sides from 7" singles + 4 other rare songs (2 from cassette, 1 A side of a 7", and 1 track featured on a rare 80s compilation LP). All original tracks are impossible to find for less than a mint on the collector's market. The first 2 tracks are by Belgium's Tipical Me from the Claustrofobian b/w Pope No Hope 7". These 2 tracks are perfect synth pop in every way. The second artist is UK's Secession, and we have included their debut 7" released in 1983. Though known for their later more electronic based pop and dance tracks, these two tracks display their earlier dark beginnings with chilling guitars and a more early 4AD aesthetic. Both tracks from the 7" are included. The third artist is France's Leidenschaft who released one lone 3-song cassette in 1986 with 2 of the tracks featured here. Leidenschaft could loosely be compared to early Clan of Xymox with French cold wave leanings. The 2 cuts are very atmospheric and lovely indeed. Back to the UK, we included the wonderfully minimal A + B sides of the rare 1984 7" by Black Fantasy. Original copies of this single have been selling for insanely high prices these days. 2 more tracks were also included on this compilation which complete the theme nicely. V.U.D. was an Italian outfit who recorded a track entitled "Look!" which was included on the "First Relation" v/a compilation LP released in 1983 on Mask Productions and curated by Lisfrank. Quirky and undeniably catchy, we absolutely adore this track as will everybody who hears it. The last track included on this LP is the A side of the rare 1984 7" by UK's Almost Alone entitled "Blue City". Dense and atmospheric synth pop with definite New Romantic tendencies, this track is a perfect closing track for this diverse collection. With the huge success of their All or Nothing LP laying just over the horizon, Calyx & Teebee are about to take the title place yet again and with the full throttle forces of pounding basslines and meticulously constructed mechanics. But what else could you expect from two revered veterans of the genre, whose joint muscle has telescoped the competition in comparison.

However, it's not just their duteous workmanship and full-throttle drive that makes their music so undeniably huge. RRose is a recording artist for Sandwell District, Eaux and Stroboscopic Artefacts labels - James Tenny was an electronic & computer music pioneer and one of America's greatest composers Short info: Rrose has found her own niche in the American techno underground. Her hypnotic tracks incorporate ideas from ambient and minimalist music as prominently as they do the history of dance music, operating in the same fruitful cross-section between techno and the abstract as many other Further Records releases. Rrose's debt to experimental music has never been more obvious than on September 20, 2012, when he performed James Tenney's 'Having Never Written A Note For Percussion' live in Washington, DC. The simple yet colossal piece is one of that American composer's most famous works, requiring the performer to play one percussive instrument constantly, taking it from the quietest point to the loudest and back again. Done well, it's a fascinating exploration of tone, volume and decay, and a showcase for drone music's unusually transportive powers. 'Never Having Written A Note For Percussion' has always been a personal favourite of Rrose's. He was struck with the inspiration to try it out after touring a disused trolley tunnel beneath downtown DC, where the possibilities of 'seemingly endless and unpredictable reverberations' seemed like the perfect environment for Tenney's composition. He made a 32-inch gong played with two mallets the central device of his performance, creating a towering leviathan of sound capable of the softest highs and the deepest lows.

Following varied sessions from head honcho Caspa and Dubstep forefather D1, the third
installment of the ongoing 'My Style' series will hand over the reins to the next generation of Dub Police artists as label stalwart
Subscape takes the helm. Following two of Dubstep's earliest champions and core figureheads is certainly no easy task, but no one
is beMer equipped for the job than Subscape who rises to the challenge armed with an arsenal of fresh, upfront and exclusive
material.
Since first being introduced to Caspa by his then-.-future label mate The Others while studying music production at ACM in Guilford,
Subscape has gone on to become an integral part of the label and one of its most prolific artists. First debuting on the label back in
2008 with 'Bad Man / Transaction', he has steadily amassed a bulging catalogue of unique productions built to shake soundsystems
and evoke emotions in equal measures. His most recent 'Universal' and subsequent 'Elements' EPs have continued to push the
envelope and further cement his status as one of bass music's leading lights. About to head off on his latest US tour and with the My
