Originating from the Detroit suburbs, Kent Odessa is currently languidly based in Brooklyn. A singer-songwriter with quite a bit of a twist, he likes to leave the power pop sound, often too-present in his neighborhood, for a more emotional and heartfelt musical blend.

A perfect example of what is perhaps considered the apex of Tim Eliot's trademark sound, hard marching drums and metallic percussion coupled with obscure vibes and synthwork, are all part of this memorable anthem by CV.

Call it what you will, this vicious industrial terror for when the dance-floor turns ugly sees Maoupa going a little further in the experimentation, giving sex-appeal to discomfort through these four oxidized cuts.

It's been nearly 3 years since we last heard from occupational educator and experimental
electronic music production moonlighter Santiago Lizon's Crisopa nom de plume.

In 2012 Biodance (n5MD) was heralded as being a stellar example of how far an artist can
experiment yet still remaining harmonious. His latest effort 'A Lucid Dream Kit" follows in
the same vivid thread of Biodance due to Lizon's adeptness at experimenting with layering while utilizing just the right amount of melodic hooks to keep the listener fully engaged.

From the album's onset the tracks contort, distend and compress all propelled by beat work extracted from the wonky, house and future garage camps. As with all Lizon's previous work there are moments that can be compared to Boards of Canada but those moments are tastefully fleeting. Lizon is adept at bending and blending which is proven by how effortlessly he integrates multiple juxtapositional elements together.

Somewhat akin in stylistic theory to some of Fourtet's early work however with a denser
cinematic pallet. We're willing to bet that Lizon had a plan for "A Lucid Dream Kit" all
along: Put on those headphones just before slumber and see what the evening brings...

Celebrating its 10th year in the Drum and Bass scene in 2014 with their 'Decade of Viper' festivities, Viper Recordings inexorable continues with its first release of 2015 from InsideInfo.
With his first release on Viper back in 2008 with 'Sneaker', InsideInfo has steadily built a reputation with his precise, unique sound and scientific production setting him apart from the rest. Rylander is king of hypnotizing, focused feedback drone with razorsharp noise and monotonous pulse. Music that feels as comfortable in academic worlds as in filthy basements. Henrik Rylander was the drummer of the provocative, sweaty and chaotic garage rock band Union Carbide Productions (1987-1993). After a few years focusing on his visual art (photography) he started experimenting in sound and especially with feedback and static rhythms. In 1998 his first solo album was released but it was not until 2003 with the massive 'Formation' album for Leif Elggren's Firework label he had found the recepy of intensity that he is known for today. In 2004 the 'Traditional Arrengements of Feedback' CD was released on iDEAL which led to a worldwide focus on Rylander's work. In 2005 he formed the monotonous avant rock group The Skull Defekts together with Joachim Nordwall. Henrik Rylander is also active exhibiting his sound- and visual art. He is no doubt one of the sharpest, heaviest and most conceptual Swedish artists around today.

If the scattershot ideas of Melodic Records' schizophrenically brilliant Manchester experimentalists Working From A Nuclear City seemed to be aural metaphors for a galactic explosion, then King Of The Mountains, the new project of their songwriter, keyboardist and producer Phil Kay, hones in on a singular galaxy hurtling away from the blast's initial impact into the cosmos. With his debut solo LP, the now-London-based artist detaches himself from his band's tumult of sonic thoughts and sets a flight for more cohesive plains.

Of course, King Of The Mountains being a product of the creatively restless Kay's own fertile mind means that proceedings are rarely static; built largely around electronics but with its creator embellishing these artificial sounds with a variety of live instrumentation - even teaching himself saxophone in one afternoon to add extra layers. There are wonderfully interwoven structures, ranging from swelling tempestuous dance floor filler ('Undone') to richly textured maps of gently bustling sound ('Stranger Things Have Happened') and ambient secretions ('Airstrips').

'The record was very nearly called Brutalism because I realised that what I was trying to do in music was similar to what brutalist architects were trying to do in the post-war period,' Kay explains. 'There's a similarity in using these really hard edged electronic materials to try and create something human and meaningful, and the way the brutalists used concrete and steel to do the same. I'm more influenced by architecture than any other art form other than music. When you see a building like (Barcelona basilica) Sagrada Familia you realise the sheer potential of the creative mind. It gives you something to aim for.'

With that attitude, it's no surprise that King Of The Mountains contains grandeur even among its more direct four-to-the-floor yearnings; tracks like the sprawling 'Zoetrope' are constantly looking for pathways out of their tightly-meshed digital fabric, while the likes of 'Surrounded' seek to stimulate the imagination, offering woozy half-light evocations. 'A lot of what I do is just trying to create a place (existing or imaginary) that I'd like to be in,' says Kay. 'Cities, nature, buildings... Sometimes it's better to be in a city or a place in your head than actually be there.'

For a decade, Kay was part of the aforementioned Working For A Nuclear Free City - who produced three critically-acclaimed albums between 2006 and 2011 and saw their music included in numerous TV series, films and adverts (from the very first cook up scene in Breaking Bad, to the classic 100 years of Hovis advert that spanned over two minutes). However he found his and co-songwriter Gary McClure's tunes were starting to drift further apart. 'As a result, he released a very acoustic record last year, he really embraced that; my stuff's been getting more electronic. One of the problems (and arguably one of the strengths) with Working For A Nuclear Free City was that it was very eclectic, which confused people. We wanted to see what would happen if we broke out the two key components of that sound instead of them battling each other.'

It's true that there isn't much battling to be found here, with each track as though a different world, like moving through levels on an old arcade computer game. What differs between this and WFANFC though is that there's a thread holding them together - elements that recur and snaps of sound that come back to you. Kay does most of his electronic work on antiquated software, using Windows XP and the same software he has for the past decade, relishing in attempting to challenge their limitations.

Mikkel Meyer steps into a new territory of electronic music. Meyer has been inspired by various new/freak/lo-fi/indie folk artists and uses chord progressions from these styles to shape his music; the chords though are played on classic music machines like the Roland 808 and 303. The result is newfound melodies combined with the low-key use of vocals, which gives 'Jolly' a very personal, outward and nostalgic fingerprint, inviting you to dance and reflect.

The 1st EP by Moon Zero (London-based Tim Garratt) 'TOMBS' is, especially for a debut, a bold and confident musical statement, which reimagines the possibilities of processed organ and vocal sounds in a live context. The opener 'Dalyan' builds from slowly wavering layers of sound into a crumbling, decaying wall of fuzzed-out, peaking noise, which in turn builds again into ever-moving blocks of chopped loops and feedback, absorbing the listener completely into Moon Zero's musical space. A remarkable listen.

For "Yearling" ORCAS members Benoît Pioulard and Rafael Anton Irisarri (The Sight Below) teamed up with Martyn Heyne (of Efterklang) on guitar and piano, and Michael Lerner (Telekinesis) on drums to built upon the subdued ambience of their self-titled debut, adding a huge dose of analog warmth to their hazy pop leanings.

Ambient/ Electro/ Experimental.. For fans of Tim Hecker, Fennesz, Hans-Joachim Roedelius. "The Silver Chimney Club / Wat Tyler comprises two long form tracks written between between ""Onkalo"" and the latest Petrels album ""Mima"". Originally released for a short while in digital format they're now presented here in re-mastered form with new artwork for this release. Asked about the background of the two tracks, Petrels' Oliver Barrett comments: ""The Silver Chimney Club was written to mark the death of my grandfather, Ernest Barrett, who passed away at the end of last year. A civil engineer during his working life, The Silver Chimney Club was the name of the name of a group formed of fellow work colleagues who would meet up on a semi-regular basis - I suspect more for social than professional reasons. As a tribute I'm not sure what he would have made of it but I wanted to create something that combined the industry he was a part of with his love of music that was passed on down to me. My grandfather was a socialist and Labour supporter (by which I mean the original post-war, pre-Blair party) - another thing I inherited from him, and which ties with the second piece on this release. Wat Tyler is named after the leader of the Peasants' Revolt in England in 1381. Ostensibly a revolt against the poll tax, the movement was built on an undercurrent of a desire for social change and a demand for an end to the stiflingly limiting social structures of the time. Initially successful, the rebellion was abruptly cut short when Wat Tyler was murdered by the Mayor of London after Tyler supposedly insulted the young kind of England, Richard II during a parley. Over six centuries on, a lot less has changed in the world than those involved in the Peasants' Revolt might have hoped." Since releasing his debut ""Haeligewielle"" in 2011, Petrels has toured across Europe and shared a stage with the likes of Tim Hecker, FIRE!, Nate Young (Wolf Eyes), Trouble Books, Fennesz, Nadja, and Hans-Joachim Roedelius (Cluster). 'RIVEN' by ULLI BOMANS comes straight from the heart of SHITKATAPULT, both personally and musically. As Schieres and Shrubbn!! (with T.Raumschmiere), ULLI BOMANS has been releasing uncompromising electronic music since the day the Berlin Label was founded. But BOMANS' main work is actually as a visual artist in Hamburg (and Bremen), which is also how the cover of RIVEN originated - an illustration of his work 'MISSING SHIPS' from his last exhibition ('SPOILPARK') in Bremen. His work consists mostly of large-scale collages, which are aptly referred to as urban sampling and are closely related to his music production. So it seemed more than logical for a late debut album to forgo the alias and come with an authentic author's album as this

With Breathing Statues, Young Magic's series of audio experimentations coalesce into a new holographic landscape, showing a band progressing with ambition towards a sound uniquely their own. Young Magic is the sonic pairing between Indonesian vocalist, Melati Malay and Australian producer, Isaac Emmanuel. Although currently based in New York, the eclectic outfit has recorded music whilst traversing the four corners of the earth

The introductions are over; June Miller are back and there's no apology. They've reappeared having been stooped in solitary confinement; presenting a handful of cuts, only to prove that this was brutally productive and they've been working hard to follow up their last release.

Bare-knuckled and still swinging, this EP sees June Miller entering round three and raising the bar yet another level. The precursor to their forthcoming album, from 'The Promise Ring' to the resounding brass of 'Saus', it certainly sets a precedent.

Rolling out first is title-track 'Ups & Downs', showing the pair's ability to completely flip an emotive vocal sample onto its back. The way they use this sound component shows undiluted ingenuity, creating a totally different impact with every switch. It begins through a wave of static, with a break that slowly leads you up a drum-paved crescendo. Then it pounds, drops and pulls you up just as quickly, creating dynamics which merge to create an electronic masterpiece.

Coming up next is a record featuring Mefjus, a production freight-train who's been setting the competition alight in recent months. 'Saus' is no different, with June Miller intertwining a tightly compact composition which smashes your synapses on impact. Rattling through on tracks of unhinged percussion, prepare yourself for a musical excursion which will take you through the darkest depths of drum and bass. But what else could you expect, when the talents of June Miller and Mefjus are so effortlessly combined

Then we're introduced to 'Bad Brains'. There's no denying why this track has been used to intro so many sets over the past year. It winds up with an intimidating compactness, before springing you into chaos. Bludgeoning beats roll with each bar set and there's no escape from its driving onslaught. This track is instantly recognisable on first listen, alluding to June Miller's ever-growing profile.

And lastly, we have 'The Promise Ring'. Adding a sexier vibe to its predecessors, the producers have yet again showed there's a hidden depth to their musicality. Snapping, tapping and with a female vocal oozing between carefully layered constructs, it's a nod to their huge reel of ability. This last reaffirms that their debut album is sure to feature some of the most perfectly crafted, versatile music the Ram imprint has to offer.

Classically trained on violin and piano from an early age, she studied piano and composition at Edinburgh University before completing a masters degree in Piano Performance. A long-term collaborator with Hidden Orchestra (Tru Thoughts Records Denovali Records), she also works with other musicians and artists, creating soundtracks for film, dance, physical theatre and radio. Her debut album 'Escapement' (Denovali Records, 2012) impressed with its delicate, intricate and beautifully atmospheric music, created using only piano and violin (with the exception of a few field recordings). In 2013 Poppy collaborated with visual artist Lumen to create bespoke films for her live performances. Demand from audiences led to a DVD of the music and visuals combined - 'Escapement Visualised' - being released in September 2014. November 2014 sees the release of her second full-length album 'Feathers', which she will be performing live across Europe in the months following the release. Through studying contemporary classical piano works and listening to electronic music, Poppy began to develop her own compositional style, using conventional pianistic ideas whilst also inhabiting the world of sound beyond the keyboard, using unconventional techniques to 'play' other parts of the instruments as well. Like 'Escapement', her second album 'Feathers' mostly consists of piano and violin, but the palate of sounds is increased with other acoustic keyboard instruments - including harmonium, clavichord, harpsichord and spinet - and in the string sections Poppy's violin lines are augmented by guest cellist Su-a Lee. Poppy's beloved, restored Blüthner grand piano in her studio is again the backbone of the album, providing most of the melodies, bass lines and percussive sounds. Other material originated from improvised recording sessions at the Russell/Mirrey Collection of keyboard instruments in Edinburgh. Having previously spent time there dismantling different pianos to understand how their mechanisms work and make sound, she was given complete freedom on her own in the museum to experiment with around fifty keyboard instruments from the 16th century to the 19th century. Selecting a few instruments for 'Feathers' that produced a variety of different timbres, it was again the other sounds these instruments could make that interested her, when treating them as sources for melodic or percussive material. Recordings of unfamiliar sounds, which include brushing/plucking the strings and tapping/stroking the frames or soundboards, are combined with accidental 'imperfect' sounds that come from playing the instrument, such as pedal noise or the sound of harpsichord shutters opening and closing. There is an intimate feel to the recordings as these older instruments are not designed to project sound loudly, so the microphones were placed very close to capture the minutest detail. Field recordings add to the cinematic and atmospheric quality of the music: chiming wall clocks in Timeless, traffic noise on Roads, and the wave and pebble sounds from Brighton beach in Birdwoman. With its delicate textures, rhythmic intricacy and achingly beautiful melodies, 'Feathers' is the perfect companion for stories of love, loss, hope and migration. Celebrated ambient artist John Beltran jointly release not one but two vinyl compilations on Delsin Records in association with his own Dado label. The compilations, named Music For Machines Part 1 and Part 2, will take the form of two vinyl LPs released apart, with both releases complied together onto one CD available at a later date. Michigan born producer Beltran, of course, has released countless legendary EPs and LPs on labels like Peacefrog, Carl Craig's Retroactive and Belgium's R&S. His music has been licensed to high profile HBO TV series and a number of films, and pulls together elements of jazz, world music, organic soundscapes and electronic textures into compelling listening experiences. Most recently this came in the form of his Amazing Things album in 2013, whilst his career spanning Ambient Selections from 2011 is still a vital listen. Part 1 of the compilation pulls together new and exclusive tracks from the likes of Winter Flags, Blair French, David Elpezs and John himself, whilst part two focuses on the likes of Natalie Beridze, Kirk Degiorgio and Vincent Volt. Part 1 opens up with the found sound lushness of 'Winterfall Winds' before naturally unfolding through Reinehr's wintry harmonics and the crowning glory of Beltran's own titular track, which is a moving bit of textured modern classical music that sooths your mind, body and soul. As for Part 2, it is riddled with sumptuous sonic delights like Greg Chin's icy and alpine 'Dashboard Angels' and Mick Chillage's beautifully suspended 'Only In My Dreams'. Vincent Volt keeps things beautifully beachy with his 'Subway Arp' and A2B2C2's 'Stereometry' is a suitably sombre affair that closes the compilation down in style.

The Summoner comes 4 years since the last Kreng album 'Grimoire'. Conjuring up the spirit of György Ligeti, the first half of the album is made entirely of 12 string players being directed to play around, make noisey clusters and crescendoes, moving you between Denial, Anger, Bargaining and Depression. In fact, The Summoner is the first Kreng album NOT made by hordes of samples. Music to really dig deep in to. Following into the second part of the album, twists and turns are taken and it's hard to know where exactly you are. The Summoning's haunting organs and smoke-filled chambers lead you in to an earth- shaking wall of guitars, drums and bass courtesy of Belgian doom band Amenra. Leaving you in a state of shock, the album closes in an incredibly heartfelt and quiet way with the fittingly named Acceptance.

Over the course of several months, Áine O'Dwyer was given access to the pipe organ in St Mark's Church, Islington while the cleaners were at work. Primarily a harpist, this was a rare opportunity to grapple with the "king of instruments" and apply her sense of melodic, structured improvisation in a very different context. Since it's impossible to exert complete control over such a recording environment, she entered into the sessions with a Cagean mindset, embracing the extra-musical sounds.This gave the recordings a unique character and concept. With the door left open to serendipity, it can seem that the sonic environment coalesces in sympathetic harmony. Here, the synth-like whoosh of the vacuum cleaner, a child's laughter, various echoed clatters and chatter become part of the music. Improvised music is inevitably influenced by the presence and expectations of an audience. In this case the "audience" consists of people subjected to music that they may find coincidentally pleasant or irritatingly intrusive as they go about their work. They exert an influence via the musician's awareness of them, but also through their audible and sometimes disruptive presence as coincidental performers and unwitting collaborators. Áine capitulates to the "request from the ladies" by not staying "on one note for a long time", but already did "bring music" - that is, the graphic score reproduced in the gatefold. At the end, we can hear that even the recording device itself is subjected to the relentless advance of church cleaning. The album is multifaceted and conceptually satisfying in many ways. It's simultaneously a series of solo improvisations, a site-specific piece of performance art, rich in chance elements, and even qualifies as a field recording, where the transcendent and menial meet. Despite the absence of cheers and applause, it's also a live album. In this new extended incarnation, it becomes almost a kind of minimalist opera, with a subtle plot of polite contention softening amid curiosity about the trumpet that takes us out of this most concrete of recordings with a single psychedelicised blast. Metaphysical themes are hard to avoid using an imposing instrument traditionally intended to inspire them. The titles hint at Áine's meditative concerns while playing. Here is an Irish lapsed Catholic mind (as Cranley told Dedalus) "supersaturated" with the religion it rejects: the double meaning implicit in "church cleaning", the forbidden "deep sounds", the pensive, often brooding hue of the music itself, heavy in every sense. Throughout I hear the dark depths of thoughtfulness, warmth, and mischievous wit that is quintessentially Áine. Originally released as a cassette on Fort Evil Fruit, this expanded vinyl edition features new artwork and doubles the album's length, making for a truly immersive experience. - Paul Condon

As a debut 12" release for both DJ Marfox and Príncipe, "Eu Sei Quem Sou" ("I Know Who I Am") is the best title we could hope for our collective present & future intentions. It is what Marfox has always made clear to us through his work - a unique vision of technological, artistic and civic advancement. Everything is about having your code, knowing where you come from; about the way in which he's chosen to progress through his music.

London's Powell works with opposites, in a way
that's delightfully disconcerting. His tracks, on the
surface, seem relatively uniform - but listen closer,
or at punishing volume, and they teem with detail:
wiry guitars, sinister yelps, synth figures that fizz like
bubbles through sparkling water. Across two EPs in
2012 for his own Diagonal label and one for Death
Of Rave in 2013, he has established himself as one
of the UK's most unique electronic musicians.
Powell's tracks flirt with the dynamics and structures
of club music while joyfully subverting them,
throwing acoustic sound sources or disembodied
voices into the mix to play havoc with the groove.
Indeed, the three tracks on his new Fizz EP for
Liberations Technologies are some of the most
mischevious club-rooted music you're likely to hear
all year. They nod obliquely to Powell's history with
jungle and early drum & bass - compared to the
techno-esque momentum of his earlier releases,
here he's almost subliminally ratcheted up the
tempo, turning these tracks into blistering forward
barrages of percussion and dusty bass. On 'Fizz',
sub-bass throbs like a motorbike engine, paired with
his distinctive guitar scribbles. 'Wharton Tiers....

Proxima begins the launch of his debut album 'Alpha' with the release of 'Trapped', a lean halfstep monolith that ranks as one of his toughest and most minimal tracks so far, and which has been a deadly fixture in the arsenal of the scenes leading DJ's in recent months.

Released two weeks after Trapped, 'Alpha' follows on from a string of blistering singles for Tempa, which found the Dutch producer carving out a stark and synthetic vision of 140bpm club music.

Alpha gathers Proxima's most fully realised music to date - widescreen in sound but packing intense sound system force. Next to the tinny grind that's characterised some of dubstep's harder side in recent years, its tracks are rendered in full 3D, with percussion lines moving in snakelike coils around firestorm distortion, and icepick melodies that cut sharply into the foreground.

Its self-contained vision and frosty evocations of deep space recall the interstellar techno voyages of Detroit pioneers like Jeff Mills, Dopplereffekt and DJ Stringray. While its rhythmic intricacy and steely poise recall both Shogun Audio's wiry funk and the machine soul of dBridge and Exit Records.

as arcane musical elements curiously harmonise, only to contrast spectacularly with a pulsating bassline drop that

Ruff Records unearths a rare Australian (com)oddity... the self titled 'Flat Static' LP recorded in Reservoir, Melbourne in 1985... originally privately issued in miniscule quantity, Ruff gives this weirdo post-punk fossil its first proper edition. 'Australian' experimental sounds of the late 70s - 80s which defines labels such as Cleopatra, Innocent, M Squared, Larrikin and Jarra Hill Records etc... heard here in subtle funky form, with distinct stylistic shifts throughout coinciding with the groups acquisition/ experimentation with the TR-808 drum machine. Members include contemporary performance artist Brett Band, known locally for anti- institutional street performance. As well as early Australian computer pioneer Ant Wilshire. A rare treat from Australia's rich musical past, not to be missed...

Ninjato, formerly known as Störungstelle, is a Shaolin glitch master from the streets of Ghent. Chronicles of the 6 samurai tells the story of a warrior on a quest through a psychedelic maze. On his path he comes across 6 foes whom he has to conquer with his laser blade.

'It was the light. That was it. She was trying to remember what brought her to this desolate, godforsaken place. The way the moon and the stars made the shadows dance; it was magic. She slipped into a trance just thinking about it, forgetting at once the decay and the damned all around her. The shadows had fallen still long ago. Then the darkness poured in. It had filled her. Swallowed her whole. How long had it been now She couldn't remember. The paper of her hands, the dust in her mouth; she barely noticed. Far from any road there was a massive building with a lot of concrete rooms. Inside it, a labyrinth path to bid farewell.

Beat Spacek is the latest project from UK vocalist / producer Steve Spacek, a man who should really need no introduction. With boundless abilities, his work transcends genre and style - instead focusing more on swing, melody, vibe and atmosphere. From his legendary output with the band Spacek - 'Curvatia' (2001), 'Vintage Hi-Tech' (2003); solo work on the cult Sound In Color imprint and collaborations with the late, great J.Dilla; to his under-the-radar Black Pocket project for dBridge's Exit Records and his most recent work with Mark Pritchard as one half of Africa HiTech, his fearless approach to creation has always been progressive and highly original.

Beat Spacek sees him once again take the reigns as a solo artist creating a record that is as much a love letter to the future as it is an ode to the past. Created largely using iPhone and iPad apps, the album once again finds Steve liberated through new technologies, excited by the prospects of 'the new' whilst expressing notions of the past. It's a journey through the evolution of modern Britain from a futurist perspective.

Framed against a particular period in the 1980s when Steve was growing up as a young man in New Cross, South East London, 'Modern Streets' is rooted in the duality of the past and the future. Flim-Flams was the club where he first experienced the clash of sounds and styles that characterised South London's racial, ethnic and cultural melting pot. A spot where punks, soul heads, new romantics, dread locks and skinheads all converged brought together through a love of music and new sounds.

From the paranoid, post-punk, sleng teng musings of "I Wanna Know" to the new wave pop-powered love song "Inflight Wave", 'Modern Streets' is a direct reflection of that experience, envisioned through the mind of a 21st Century rudeboy. Ghanaian highlife is re-imagined in digital form on "Tonight"; "Stand Firm" tips its hat to the dancehall with a futuristic rinse; whilst the sub-bass powered anthem "Alone in Da Sun" draws on the finest elements of dubstep's sonic vocabulary and reworks them into a loose, new age club jam, brimming with soul and charisma.

* Setting the wheels in motion for his forthcoming 'Under Another Sky LP', Cern opens his 2nd studio album with three teaser tracks to wet your beak. An artist who never shies from experimentation, whilst consistently striking a chord deep down, Cern offers a sample of the damage, reflection and reconstruction that lies ahead.

* Starting things off with a track exclusively available for this album sampler, 'Tiamat' loosens the reigns and unleashes a storm that matures below the surface, retaining composure and clout all the while. Named after an ancient goddess that embodied primordial chaos, Cern engineers a perfect set opener with precision; low ends striking right at the chest. * As the dust clears in the aftermath of bedlam, the tempo relaxes somewhat as we are welcomed by 'What We Bring Upon Ourselves'. The orchestral introduction is profound, yet cautious and thought-provoking. Delicate strings and serene chords evoke a warm glow, enveloping vinyl crackles in a truly sublime musical interlude.

* This leads smoothly into the superbly layered 'Conway', which picks the pace back up, but teasing, in playful, almost tormenting fashion. Initially subtle and ultra-stripped, it quickly gathers momentum with menacing drive. Breathtaking amen flashes emerge sporadically, before retreating to minimal flickers; masterfully controlling the dance.

Unconditional Music return to introduce a vinyl debut by a creative young UK talent CORTICYTE.

Corticyte fuses a strong emphasis on bold forward-facing rhythms with an interest in incorporating sounds and techniques from more experimental electronic realms. Add to this well judged melodic details where appropriate and you have a well rounded artist who could develop his talents in a number of directions. We're touting him as one to watch.

We have attempted to display the dexterity at the man's hand with 4 different examples of his natural abilities.

'MODULATE' has already proved to be a dancefloor smasher down here in our hometown Brighton. After dropping at our own events and guest appearances we have seen firsthand the dramatic effect this tune has in the club.

The opening rhythm has a gimey flavour whilst being programmed at a tantalising house tempo. Lo-sub sinewaves underpin a metallic syncopated drum motif that immediately pricks up attention. This gives way to a lush and epic synth breakdown that will have those ravers' hands raising on the floor. The classic 'Think' break (beloved by B-More house producers) drops in the midst of this further intensifying the anticipation.

When THAT rhythm drops back into the track, it's simply Game Over in the dance.

'Xi_b^ - v2' is tight but supple - 808 drums and rimshots fire off in different directions whilst never losing the groove giving this a freestyle feeling. The synths are emotive, suggesting a deep pensive mood that threatens to boil over. It's a tension / release deal - holding you in it's grip and never quite letting go....

'CRITICALITY' has a whiplash bolshy drum approach reinforced by loaming & ominous bass tones and groans. This track sits neatly next to the current bruk-130 style being developed in cities such as Bristol. It once again also reminds of the clashy gritty appeal of grime production. The drop features found environmental sounds that add to the atmosphere. A dark dancefloor werker to lend a stiff backbone to a set.

'SIGNAL TO NOISE' addresses an affinity with dub-techno. A slow motion half-stepper with splashes of liquified melody decorating a deeply entrancing groove. Subtle metallic techno loops filter and weave their way into the 2nd section. A heads down hypnotiser.

Having amassed a cult following through excellent releases on Project Mooncircle and Brownswood, as well as 2012's astonishingly original Eclosure EP for our good selves, Flako returns to business with a new EP.
Taking in organic and orchesetral elements, the tracks are cut through with a nostalgic exotica and an unbridled creativity that is completely his own. Technical brilliance collides with bags of feel, builds and tension give way to unexpected drops, synths dart in and out, time signatures are well and truly fucked with... And herein lies the formula for one of 2014's most cerebral bangers, Kuku. 2014 has seen an appearance by Flako's alter-ego Dirg Gerner at the Red Bull Music Academy in New York, as well as production credits on Fatima's acclaimed album for Eglo, 'Yellow Memories'. He was also supported by the widely publicised and fiercely competitive Momentum Music Fund. Live, he continues to impress, After being hand-picked to support Bonobo on recent European dates, he spent the summer going to and from Croatia for highly praised sets at festivals such as Dimensions and Outlook. Benji, Lefto and Gilles Peterson continue to hold his work in the highest regard, with the Eclosure EP recently prompting Gilles to exclaim 'don't ever stop'.

The release number 12 on Giegling is a product of four individual tags of memories. Growing up in the same city Hannover the four producers Vril, Prince of Denmark, Leafar Legov and Herr Koreander share some part of a collective mind which led to this EP.

Join the dots as to the identity of Luke Warm!

In the midst of such a productive year for grime and the much-documented rise of a new batch of producers, there are a few artists that have stood out more than anyone else. We at Oil Gang have managed to bring two of them together for our ninth release, Murlo Vs JT The Goon - Plume. Two Boxed stalwarts, this release takes four of the club's biggest anthems of the last twelve months for a frankly ridiculous 12'.

Following releases on Rinse, UTTU and Mixpak, Murlo is on an incredible run- his recent releases are arguably the most inventive and deadly of recent times. After getting him along to carry out possibly the standout remix on our Coolie Joyride EP earlier in the year, he & JT began swapping ideas and naturally we had to demand the results for ourselves.

JT The Goon is a producer of some pedigree. Involved in the grime thing from the start, through his work with Slew Dem and various pirate radio anthems over the years, we were immensely happy when we got to put out his Twin Warriors EP to much acclaim. This is where our JT vs Murlo series started: 'Twin Warriors (Murlo Remix)' takes the elegant aggression of the original and twists it through his mental technicolour slant. Full of kickdrum rolls and rapid changes of tempo, this has been a massive track in the clubs for almost a year now. Although we were tempted to keep it to ourselves as much-desired dub, the clamour was too much.

After hearing what Murlo had done to his track, JT got in touch with us and demanded we drag Murlo down to his studio so they could put something together. The resulting track, 'Plume,' brings together these two incredible producers at the top of their game. Distributed to only a few select DJs, this one is a bit of a secret weapon for us. We've struggled to keep it under wraps really, watching it get constant rewinds at Boxed but not admitting what it was 'that one!'.

Rounding out the EP are two solo tracks. 'Cold Stroke' has been a staple of our sets for ages and it finds Murlo firmly in the middle of the club, patron shots and spilled pints flying all over the place.

JT's solo contribution, meanwhile, takes the more dramatic approach. When he draws for the orchestral touch few people come close to him and this is definitely one of his best.

Breakbeat Paradise Recordings is proud to welcome back Nynfus Corporation for what will be their very last release - a 4-track partyrockin' 12" vinyl. Is there a better way to celebrate the exit of this amazing producer crew from Budapest but to drop another dope EP on wax To step things up they have teamed up with another heavyweighter in the scene: Timothy Wisdom from Canada on the first cut on the a-side.

The guys behind the music however will still be producing music under their new alias Lack Jemmon (Kid Panel & dj Clairvo) and they are still very active producers as well as DJs. You can catch them every Saturday @ Akvarium Club in Budapest, where their spin their unique blend of bass and hip hop grooves. They have recently featured on Vol. 4 of the Scored Cream collection on Scour Records.

On this EP we are really in for a treat as the Nynfus crew spoils us with some state of the art glitch hop as well as some oldskool funky breaks. Everything done with precision with one goal in mind - to get the party started.

The praise to the sticky green gold feat. Timothy Wisdom on This Weed has already been turning heads as it has been on tour with Timothy including his set at last years Shambhala Festival. Another tune to watch is Nina is Back - which tears up a golden classic and reshapes it for total dance floor destruction!

Object Relations is a very promising new 7' label curated by Mark Fell focusing on
collaborations between diverse artistic practices.
Recorded in Milan, 2014, the label's inaugural edition establishes its remit in a unique
combination of Fell's crafty drum programming with the adroit, keening cello
improvisation of trained cellist and composer Sandro Mussida, following their meeting
and performance in Tuscany at the International Encounters in Sound event.
On both sides, Fell's elliptical microtemporal Linndrum arrangements are matched
and coloured with compelling streaks and wooden strikes from Mussida in a tussle of
crooked time signatures and rhythmelodic cadence resolving and dispersing at oblique
yet somehow elegant angles.
The first results of this collaboration sees a departure from the purely electronic
asceticism of Fell's widely known work for Editions Mego or Raster Noton, and perhaps
best compared with the minimalist, downtown early '80s experiments of Peter Zummo
and Arthur Russell, albeit effectively shorn of that duo's more melodic affectations.

Without a hint of hyperbole, Polygon Fane EP stands as Pixelord's ultimate manifesto: a testament to the internet and its unbounded nature, embedded within a smorgasbord of eccentric Bass. Returning to Infinite Machine with a vengeance, Hyperboloid boss Pixelord delivers his most compelling and mind-boggling release to-date. Over the course of 6 originals, the Russian pioneer unfurls a confounding display of versatility that stretches from ominous Breakbeats to wonky Club mutations to introspective Juke to cheeky cuts of 80s casio funk (dare we say meta-vaporwave). Supporting him in his venture is burgeoning heavy weight (and Infinite Machine alumni) Druid Cloak alongside label staple Seafloor, Montreal's neon king Thomas White and Terrorhythm's ever-impressive Curl Up. Together, led by our Russian Prince of the Internet, these gentlemen give a truly comprehensive cross-sectional of the current music landscape. The cheekier cuts point to their Neon brothers Lockah, Gillepsy, 813 and Wave Racer while the moodier songs echo Ital Tek, Lone and Om Unit (and somewhere down the middle lay hints of Seablaze and Ultrademon)

Sam KDC presents three sublime tracks including a collaboration with ASC. Synesthesia sees him in fine form, with a pyschedelic
workout. All Roads Lead Somewhere sees him team up with Auxiliary boss, ASC, as the two combine forces. Captured sees Sam
don his drum machine and space things out even further.

Four stalwarts of the Auxiliary camp combine for the second issue of Veil Unveil, with impressively eclectic results.
Sam KDC - Ascetic - Sam KDC kicks off proceedings with a thumping, darkly roots-inspired track, a true understated dancefloor
hitter sure to punish the senses. Heavy-hitting kicks & sub bass drive the message home. Punishing.
ASC - Symmetry - Slowing down the pace a little from the opening barrage, ASC delivers a smooth, deliciously intense track with
crunchy analogue samples jostling with xylo melodies and wondrous atmospheric synths & vocals in ASC's trademark, inimitably
polished style.
Synth Sense - Trapped Within The Circuit - Vinyl crackles introduce this densely-configured exploration of raw scrapyard drum &
bass. Tense and unrelenting with a tapestry of industry cavorting in the backdrops, Synth Sense show themselves to be a true
bastion of moody leftfield music.
Method One - Under The Same Stars - Closing this issue, Method One serves up his own dreamy take on 80's sci-fi in typical style
with cowbells and space voice comms expertly woven around digital basslines and keys. Lovely.

Following the digital premiere of the track 'Nobody knows' at the beginning of September, myr. is an artist who remains shrouded in mystery. His debut EP 'Nobody knows Avalon' is set to be released through recognised Cologne label PNN on January the 19st, yet as the title suggests, still very little is known about the man behind the music.

myr.'s wish to withhold information is made obvious through the choice of track names on the EP: 'Nobody Knows', 'Avalon' and 'Homii' are all titles clearly designed to provoke the listener's curiosity, whilst upholding a sense of the enigmatic.

Although some might argue that such conscious obscurity is little more than a publicity stunt, surely at a time when the cult of DJ and celebrity are often intertwined there is something refreshing about myr.s decision to step-back. You only have to look at the homemade, monochrome videoclip that accompanies 'Nobody knows' to realise that myr. is about as removed from the glitz of DJ culture as it is possible to be.

It is this determined distancing from the norm that comes through is his music. The minimal sound is carried through by an underlying warmth, a grittiness that sets it apart from the often near-perfect production of popular techno. The first two tracks 'Nobody knows' and 'Avalon' create a sense of anticipation, with minimal, ambient beats that build, the listener is left with itchy-feet and a hankering for more. In the final track on the EP 'Homii' there is a change in tempo, the monotone beats make way for some slowed-down, trippy vocals that open the listener up to myr.'s versatility as an artist.

'Nobody knows Avalon' is an EP that represents a return to something raw and removed from popular music. As for the mystery surrounding myr. Well if you can't put a face to a sound then the only option is to listen.

Since its inception in 2004 by Futurebound, Viper Recordings has become a powerhouse in the Drum & Bass scene and has been responsible for releasing some of the biggest dancefloor hits of the past decade. To celebrate 10 years in the game, Viper is releasing its "Decade of Viper" album in December to close out the year in style. The vinyl sampler features two highly anticipated new exclusive tracks from the album with the dancefloor smasher, 'Moscow' by The Prototypes on the A-side, as well as techy favourites InsideInfo & Prolix on the flip with 'Transposed'.

Alpha Steppa Meets JahYu: bringing together the very best of East and West roots and dubstep. Produced in Korea, the record features heavy bass working seamlessly with traditional instruments. Oriental flute and string melodies slide effortlessly amongst some powerful roots-based dubstep, creating a sound that is unique and full of flavour. Korean/ German producer JahYu has been heavily influenced by major UK dub artists such as Iration Steppas, Jah Shaka and of course Alpha & Omega, which makes this collaboration a perfect fit. Check out 'Wangbi' and its Alpha Steppa remix to see how well these opposing cultures complement each other.

Hailing from North Somerset, UK post/prog-rock veterans BLUENECK have been at forefront of the European underground experimental scene since forming in 2000. They've released four critically-acclaimed albums, toured extensively across Europe with acts such as Cult of Luna and Mono, have soundtracked a number of independent films and had their work featured on NBC, HBO and SyFy channels, and are now mainstays of the European festival circuit (including a triumphant midnight set at Glastonbury 2014). However their most ambitious achievement - 3 years in the making - is new album KING NINE. Singer-songwriter Duncan Attwood's astonishingly affecting melancholy vocals have always been the chilly heart of Blueneck's music (2006's SCARS OF THE MIDWEST, 2009's THE FALLEN HOST, 2011's REPETITIONS), so fans were surprised when the band released the hushed, vocal-free soundtrack album EPILOGUE in 2012. However, work had begun by Attwood and fellow bandmembers Richard Sadler and Ben Paget on KING NINE in early 2011, in advance of the writing and recording of EPILOGUE. Demand Records is very pleased to welcome back Eastcolors with a brand new single. After his huge success early in 2014 with "Toys" he's finally back presenting the first track out of his upcoming debut Album "Lighthouse". "Could Be" is the name and it's a stomper! Tension builds in the intro.. a lulling vocal comes in and the drop turns "Could Be" into what can only be explained as "bassline monster" that crawls through the track! On the flip we have invited man of the moment Hybris turning a past Friction favorit "Things Inside" upside down. Hard, twisted and impressive how the remix switches between rolling and hitting. Last but not least "Dreams" from the vaults finally sees a release, it's collaboration between Eastcolors and fellow russian friends Noel and Traffic, but will only surface on the digital release sheet.

Lost follows up his massive 'Snake Eyes' single with the highly anticipated 'Groupies E.P.' which is gaining support from A list Dj's across the board & featured airplay across all the major airwaves including BBC Radio 1. Groupies is somewhat of a statement piece for Lost, veering from his traditional sound Lost experiments with slightly noisier undertones to execute this highly anticipated club banger. Ironhide vip: Lost's debut release on Hench 'Ironhide' is the foundation he built his distinguishable style and sound on. The Vip showcases his journey through his Hench releases subtly highlighting extracts from previous releases 'slaughtered', 'Escape from the Womb' and 'Metal Foot'. The Vip encompasses the essence of the original but has the added advantage of developed production which makes for a devastating 2012 re lick!

Realized over a four year period, Sean McCann's Ten Impressions for Piano & Springs is a document of transition and maturation. Slow moving cloud forms over corporeal landscapes, these impressions whisper of McCann's imminent & decisive lean towards classical & avant-garde musics, culminating in 2013's Music for Private Ensemble on his own imprint, Recital. Less a final statement on ambient music, more a meditation on change, discovery and process.

These tracks are largely shying away from the dancefloor in favour of something more complex.

Pulshar return to Desolat with another stunning long player filled with a selection of sumptuous productions that further demonstrate their grasp over intimate and deeply ethereal electronic music. Vinyl version of 'Blood and Mathematics' features the originals and instrumentals via download code, and is perfectly timed for when the days begin to draw to a close. Barcelona based duo Sergio S. Vidal and Pablo Bolivar have cemented the Pulshar name and reputation as proponents of dub-heavy, soulful and at times psychedelic electronic music. Their first Desolat long player 'Inside' received critical acclaim and effortlessly bridged the gap between the dance-floor and the home listening environment. They returned to Desolat in 2013 with a deliciously deep and trippy EP in 'Different Drum', and now continue their relationship with the label with 'Blood and Mathematics'. Pulshar continue their affair with Electro, Instrumental Hip-Hop, Dub and Psychedelia. They have distilled this to create a distinctive and soulful brand of electronic music and the new Long Player represents where the artists are in 2014. All the tracks are written and produced by them, with only Guti as a featuring artist on 'Running Away'. This has resulted in them cultivating a traditional 'album' experience where one track effortlessly segues into the next and takes the listener through a range of emotions across the record. Blood and Mathematics is a contemporary electronic music listening experience that will be revisited again and again.

Bells Jam is stand-and-deliver improvisation, alive and rocking, with minimal editing; Split Guest is dense, multi-faceted, hypnotic music by Matthew Mullane, from Princeton, NJ, and Spectrum Spools; label co-founder Sam Lewis aka Herron returns with the time-shifting rhythmic complexity of 33 Weeks; Nick Lapien from Sequencias and Field Records makes a long ascent as Metropolis.

Horo' was a cloak attached to the back of armour worn by elite Samurai messengers in wartime. Capturing an elite tsukai-ban
messenger wearing a Horo was a coveted prize and in much the same way, a release on Horo is a prize, a reward for artists willing to
experiment, take risks and truly progress. This has been demonstrated by the fact we now have artists writing music specifically for
the Horo series.
Through the 9, vinyl only Horo releases up to this point, the label has proudly introduced the world to NZ artist Fis, and released some
of the most adventurous and truly forward thinking music in electronica from artists ASC, Sam KDC, Kiyoko, Indigo, Clarity &
Overlook. Horo gives true artists the freedom to represent the full extent of their talent and it is not often the cerebellum is truly
engaged with the genre we have grown from but 'music for the mind' is one of our over-arching ideals.
And so we come to 'Scope', the 10th release, a full length compilation spread over 5 vinyl 12's. Deviating somewhat from our vinyl
only position up to this point, given the scale and magnitude of this project Scope will also be released on CD & Digital, although
there will also be 5 vinyl only tracks by way of thanks to the vinyl buyers that have supported the label up to this point. 24 tracks of
uncompromising, innovative music from Horo mainstays and new artists alike, Scope represents where we have come from, but
moreover, where we will be going. This is just the beginning.

The debut solo album reveals dego's profound love for the simple physical pleasure of a perfect beat, but also his boundless curiosity for reinventing the most sophisticated elements of classic funk and electro.


Even within a single song, dego manages to take listeners on a journey across time. 'Late Night Fright,' for example, begins by harkening back to the heyday of dub and drum 'n' bass, the club ori-ented music of dego's youth, before slowly dissolving into a dreamy jazzy soundscape, mirroring dego's own musical evolution.


Elsewhere on the album, Dego joins forces with a carefully-selected roster of singers and instrumental collaborators. 'We Are Virgo' is a collaboration with jazz multi-instrumentalist Kaidi Tatham, that blends several time signatures, drawing on a rich palette of analog synthesizer sounds. A funky tangle of old-school acid house arpeggios, mixed with a bouncing soul groove, featuring vocals by up
and coming British singer Obenewa, 'All That She Knows'
