The 'Take Time' EP arrives in the middle of Mumdance's stunning run of recent form, which has seen the producer craft 2013's acclaimed Twists & Turns mixtape, release a series of starkly experimental yet devilishly funky club beasts in collaboration with Logos and Pinch, and travel to Cairo to work with local musicians as part of Rinse FM's Cairo Calling project.

The EP's title track draws upon Mumdance's long-standing love of grime, crafting a tightly coiled, ten-ton heavy club riddim, all frostbitten drums and shockingly stripped-back midrange, powerful enough to carve a rift deep into the mix. It features the quick-witted vocal play of rising London MC Novelist, whose bars dart swift and sharp through the track's acres of frozen space.

'The Sprawl' is pure futurist brutalism, all rattling bass pulses, eski clicks and broken propulsion reminiscent of Mumdance and Pinch's recent club heartstopper 'Turbo Mitzi'. Already setting the pace is opening track 'Ison'. A steppy riddim littered with masqueraded drum beats, it's a power-driven journey which snaps you back and forth between layers. The building blocks of an already tightly compact intro are built upon by a vocal sample which is a premonition for what's to come. The composition is already impressively intricate; however, once this break is delivered you're diverted into a plunging drop that drives you even deeper into the mix maze. With blow-out percussion and a taste for the finer technicalities expect 'Ison' to command every beat of your ear drum and ensure this release leaves an after taste difficult to shake.

With metallic thumps slicing through waiflike samples, even the intro to second track 'Vengeance' is intimidating. Twisted breakbeats create a forward motion that pushes you deeper and deeper into its grasp, whilst the track's title plays out in between bars of finely-tuned anarchy. This is contemporary drum & bass at its finest; the kind its forefather's dreamt of. Precisely laid out, yet paying homage to its underground roots by being fiercely unapologetic.

So yet again, it's time to get with the Program, as this round certainly goes to Gerra & Stone. Their set to catapult themselves to the top this New Year... Whilst leaving no prisoners.

Connie is a long lost cousin of Lonnie. He's the mean incarnation of Principles Of Geometry, fierce and twisted. For the first time in history, Connie brings the Principles of Geometry straight onto the dancefloor, and they are not kidding. It's a track built to destroy the clubs and has been thoroughly tested by Joakim over the past weeks in his sets around the world.

Spring 2015. 'It took a long time to get right, but it couldn't have worked any other way' says Breakage. Get ready for
immersion.

Design a Wave aka Tom Hirst has been making music since the late 90s, via bedroom synth, dictaphone collages and coldwave guitar textures. Since then, he has released music on Luke Younger's Alter Label as well as Rush Hour's No Label, developing his distinctive blend of experimental synth-wave.

This latest EP, International Journey of Synthetic Emotion, comprises of three tracks, introduced by experimental synths and drum patterns of track I. The EP delves into electro dance territory with track II, moving towards off-kilter house on the B-side.

His sterling productions have also drawn praise from the likes of Pitchfork, Noisey and DAZED, who called his music "R&B scattered with pockets of light", while FACT have drawn favorable comparisons to Rustie and Two Inch Punch.
J£ZUS MILLION, or Joesph Zucco to his friends, is an prodigious young Boston based beatmaker who began to turn heads last year when his debut single 'Illusions Of' featuring global pop sensation Charli XCX dropped on Double Denim. He quickly followed this up with his acclaimed Cold Shoulder mixtape which featured the sweet vocal talents of YADi and Chicago drill rap princess Sasha Go Hard, and went on to produce several tracks on Miss XCX's acclaimed debut album.

The 150th release for his Ram label and his first new material for some time, 'Workout' follows the announcement of the next chapter in his acclaimed 'Nightlife' compilation concept. Widely regarded as the definitive drum & bass mix series (with over 250,000 units sold), 'Nightlife 6' will be released in November. The hugely anticipated album is the sixth instalment of the now legendary series that began in 2003 (the last mix was released in 2010).

Lost in Michael Jackson's woodland estate young Will Williamson was a happy soul, breast fed and reared by a family of disco Llamas, he'd canter hither and tither to his heart's content, chewing on the lush grass and shrubs planted way back in the Motown days.


Until the day the bulldozers arrived to clear the estate and mine the fabled Tree of Soul. Outraged, the Llamas quickly militarised and Will found himself leading the Llama army against the machines. Sadly for Will and the Llamas, they were trained in combat by Bubbles, Michael Jackson's favourite monkey and could only offer thrown semen and faeces against their metal foe and it was over as soon as it began. But as is the way with super heroes, Will didn't die. He was spirited away and placed in a montage, where over the proceeding years he grew strong, running along beaches and up and down steps to Bill Conti's Theme from Rocky.

Young Turks are excited to announce the release of SBTRKT's self-titled full length debut.

SBTRKT's debut album pulls off a series of impressive feats, bursting with fresh ideas, and yet sounding immediately familiar. On Silver, multi-instrumentalist Charles-Eric Charrier directs his collaborators Ronan Benoit and Cyril Secq through a lesson in tension and release. Dismissing genre boundariesSilver deftly plants its roots on a plateau in a strange land somewhere between the worlds of psychedelic post-rock, electronic, improv jazz and modern composition. Over the course of five movements, Charrier and company illustrate how to successfully kaleidoscope an eclectic range of influences into a cohesive and unique whole. From the smokey sludged psych rock blues jam of '21 Echoes,' the jazz lounge pitter-pat of brushed snares and tapped hats coalesced with analog synth and brass vibrations on '12 From,' to the plucked and bowed folk strings and hand drums of '9 Moving,' Silver draws a new musical blueprint for the post-everything generation.

The GOD EP, even if it's a sunset rooftop killer, was recorded in a mountain side studio with no heating.

Auto-tune hymns, with cascades of chords and arp synths, almost like a futuristic remembration of ItaloDisco, especially in the main track ARCHISTAR. DYD is a new musical project that includes the members of the band DID, an Italian collective that has worked with bands such as Liquid Liquid, Breton and These New Puritans amongst others.

Their debut EP "GOD" is due to be released on Gang Of Ducks on the 1st of December, written and composed by themselves and produced by the Italian electronic composer Vaghe Stelle.Their music is a fusion between hyper percussive pop and the so called "Italian New Wave" music scene, inspired by people like Vaghe Stelle, Lorenzo Senni and Dave Saved to name but a few.

Computer Club is a Sheffield-based electronic label born out of the club night that has featured DJ sets and live performances from NHK'Koyxen, The Black Dog and Mat Steel (snd). The first release is a limited edition 7" single from French musician Poborsk. If you are familiar with Icasea, the great experimental electronica label run by Satoshi Aizawa, Tom Knapp and Alex Peverett (1/2 of Skam veterans Team Doyobi), you probably already know Poborsk's music.

If not then think Autechre and Skam: deep, melodic and abstract electronica with an almost non-human level of detail.

For their fourth and final release of 2014, Formula Records return to label founder Champion for a weighty collaboration with none other than Merseyside's chief dancefloor antagoniser - Melé. The Get Down EP hits hard with two tracks of balanced low-end power, with the producer pairing splitting their considerable talents down the middle to work up a package of pure heads down energy. The title track is a call arms to all ravers, working a murkily outlandish bassline around hard-edged junglist riddims and a kick drum that'll punch through any system with aplomb. "Radio Babylon" leads with a steady minute of vocal cuts and distant reggae samples before dropping down into one of the finest reduced garage/bass misfits you'll hear in Q4. Continuing to push a dancefloor sound that takes in all angles of the sound system spectrum, FRM009 is all about moving forward.

Gunnar Haslam is a long-time regular at The Mister. By day he's a scholar of particle physics and signal processing, and by night he makes very heady music, some of which has made its way onto their very first ten-inch release.

The Sub Squared label presents an EP by Kloke, a Melbourne based producer who captures the atmosphere and vibe of a variety of his native Britain's forms of electronic music without merely rehashing past genres: Jungle, Dubstep, Grime, Ambient and Techno are distilled into his original but familiar soundscapes. Kloke's back catalogue includes releases on Entrada, Granholme and Styles Upon Styles. On the first side the tracks are beat driven; two tracks with distorted drum machine at 120bpm providing the bones for reflective harmonic and melodic parts that are reminiscent of Jungle or Breakbeat Hardcore. The second side of the record is a mini album in itself; seventeen minutes of beatless music in three tracks. 'Ember' matches staccato rhythmic elements to thick lush pads, 'Yeman' employs a piano and cymbal sample over melancholy tones. The title track of the EP is a 10 minute medley of ambient music that ranges through moods of warmth, desolate electronic bleakness, unsettling menace and skin tingling nostalgia

Reflecting the texture in their music the first release is a 3 track EP spanning various influences, building on the palette of sounds they have developed over the past few years.
"Jam One" see's the duo venture into emotive synthesised house drawing from the darkness of their Drum & Bass influences right into the sounds of Detroit & Chicago.

"Formation 131" removes any expectation of conformity leading directly into a heady break layered over dark atmospheric textures. The track builds on deep subs & distorted 808 hits juxtaposed with the dark emotion of early Jungle.
"Stagger" begins ominously layering chords and filtered piano stabs over solid drums gradually building in a trippy synth line, from here we get the low end basses & tight production we have come to expect from Mak & Pasteman.

ORKA is a Faroese act based in London. When ORKA started they began with building their own instruments out of agricultural tools on a small farm on the Faroe Islands. ORKA has since then played venues and festivals all over the world and done collaborations with a number of prominent acts including LV (Hyperdub, Keysound), Yann Tiersen, and Ólafur Björn Ólafsson (Sigur Rós). Now ORKA is ready with their 4th full-length album LEIPZIG. The bulk of the album was recorded at UT Connewitz, a spectacular and worn down pre-war cinema in the heart of Leipzig, Germany, together with Oktopus (Dälek), Ólavur Jákupsson, and HOGNI. Other recordings were done on tour in Paris, New York, a small church in Sibrandahûs, Netherlands, a boat in Hong Kong and a train terminal in Bombay. The album was then finalised and patched together in ORKA's and co-producers LV's London studios, and it features vocals by Greta Svabo Bech (Deadmau5) and Teitur among others. On LEIPZIG ORKA's trademark custom instruments and dark sound are fused with sedated resounds from UK Bass and LA Beat topped with icy North Atlantic vocals. ORKA call it Club Gaze. If compared to other artists, you could say that the album sounds like J Dilla's Donuts if it was produced by Burial, with the Nordic melodic sensibility of Sigur Rós, and performed by Faust."

Founded in 2013, Heith is an open project revolving around Haunter Records co-founder and Cage Suburbia member Daniele Guerrini, whose current live incarnation also includes longtime friend Tristan Viecelli. Its manifestations mostly involve dense layers of drones whirling around sparse androgynous grooves.
There is a sound intensity makes while echoing through a human body, be it through meditation, dream, the coming down of a drug or the unexpected resurfacing of a string of memories. It is the ghastly sound of absence. It permeates the atmosphere disguising itself as silence, phasing in and out of empathy, in and out of time, through past and future experiences. It eventually evolves into a
form of tired, narcotic sexual stimulation, bringing as much love and pleasure as pain, guilt, fear and violence. Its true nature is an enigma that allows itself to get explored and experienced, rather
than explained. This is what lead Heith through the creation of the Silence Will Expire EP, six tracks of rhythmic body poetry that make use heavy bass pulsation, transitional percussions and dehumanized vocals as ritualistic tools, setting up a looping narrative with no final resolution, yet radically modifying its own spiritual setting.

Celebrated ambient artist John Beltran jointly release not one but two vinyl compilations on Delsin Records in association with his own Dado label. The compilations, named Music For Machines Part 1 and Part 2, will take the form of two vinyl LPs released apart, with both releases complied together onto one CD available at a later date. Michigan born producer Beltran, of course, has released countless legendary EPs and LPs on labels like Peacefrog, Carl Craig's Retroactive and Belgium's R&S. His music has been licensed to high profile HBO TV series and a number of films, and pulls together elements of jazz, world music, organic soundscapes and electronic textures into compelling listening experiences. Most recently this came in the form of his Amazing Things album in 2013, whilst his career spanning Ambient Selections from 2011 is still a vital listen. Part 1 of the compilation pulls together new and exclusive tracks from the likes of Winter Flags, Blair French, David Elpezs and John himself, whilst part two focuses on the likes of Natalie Beridze, Kirk Degiorgio and Vincent Volt. Part 1 opens up with the found sound lushness of 'Winterfall Winds' before naturally unfolding through Reinehr's wintry harmonics and the crowning glory of Beltran's own titular track, which is a moving bit of textured modern classical music that sooths your mind, body and soul. As for Part 2, it is riddled with sumptuous sonic delights like Greg Chin's icy and alpine 'Dashboard Angels' and Mick Chillage's beautifully suspended 'Only In My Dreams'. Vincent Volt keeps things beautifully beachy with his 'Subway Arp' and A2B2C2's 'Stereometry' is a suitably sombre affair that closes the compilation down in style.

Slow Waves is a collection of multi-layered memories, stacked like grainy polaroids in an old box in the closet or under the bed while the colours fade. A young Rob at the beach or on his first day of grammar school. Images of travels across Europe and Japan, moments slipping in trains or planes while landscapes pass by. Memories so unique to his life, yet so similar to the fading memories of youth and adolescence we all have...

Sneaker Social Club is a new boutique label born from a love of music, vinyl, collecting things and, urm...Sneakers. 'The whole theme is about me having fun, making and putting out records that are a little bit more interesting' says Jamie Russell, the man behind it (and also the man behind two of UK's more interesting house and techno labels, Hypercolour and Glass Table). 'As an avid collector of vinyl for well over 15 years, I felt that I wanted to contribute something that was more appealing than your average' explains Jamie. 'For me, this first release from Ross is a continuation of the early 90's rave music I grew up listening to! so nostalgia will be the underlying theme of the label' he adds. In keeping with his art values, high quality A2 limited edition poster inserts will be included on this inaugural, genre defiant release from rising producer Ross Tones aka Throwing Snow.

The UK talent and the man behind 'A Future Without' and newly minted 'Left Blank' writes music without prejudice or pretencion, as demonstrated by the two ranging techno/bass/house fusions he offers here. It's no surprise that Ross has recently been asked to remix Eskmo for Ninja Tune, and The Count & Sinden for Domino, coming in Sept. He truly is one of the most exciting talents in the UK right now.

A-side 'Shadower' emerges from an atmosphere of punchy bass notes and harmonious tones only to be splattered with pinging cow bells and soft focus hang drum notes. Its mission is unclear at first, but when the bassline kicks in and all the elements come together at once, it's a surging, melodically complex track imbued with a rising sense of euphoria that never becomes too over-powering: well balanced and deftly arranged, it sounds like little else out there.

On the flip, 'Sanctum' is patient in its build up of a deep, Hot Flush styled atmosphere, before raw analogue stabs signify the arrival of the track's main features - an off-kilter percussive line that restlessly chops and slices its way through the surging bottom end and a webbed network of FX and colourful melodic flashes which mean that, although the whole thing is dense and intense, it's also beguiling and beautiful. Here proving himself to be both a fine manipulator of melodies and a true master of musicality, Throwing Snow also gets Sneaker Social Club off to a more than auspicious start.

* Hot on the tails of the excellent EP on Cold Recordings, dropped earlier in the year, Manchester's Acre takes thing to Tectonic once again demonstrating why we should be paying plenty of attention to this exciting young producer. Acre glides across sonic landscapes of grime, techno, industrial/experimental with ease, melding a jilted sense of other-worldliness seamlessly with dancefloor sensibilities. A delicate tightrope to walk! Over the course of 'Icons EP', Acre explores and references his influences - expanding, developing and flashing light over towards the unseen.

* 'Ping' kicks the EP off, it's raucous hoovers tearing from the offset, soon to be joined by toxic breakbeats, bouncing of the walls; screaming it's demented jungle war cry at 125bpm. Guaranteed to get your heart racing! Follow on then to 'Blue Moon' which references grime instrumentals of years past, yielding a darker take to the more familiar Night Slugs sonic. Flip the plate and take a deep percussive journey with 'Icon' which sounds a bit like Shackleton might if he made his beats on a gameboy.. Finally 'Reload' winds down the EP at a more relaxed pace yet compromised - 'loaded with future-bass science and other mind melting sounds.

Deft sets the tone early on his "Blue Jasmine" EP with an intro that juxtaposes the meaning of hypnosis and awakening. As ambient soundscapes are gradually suffused in dense drums and interchanging rhythms, a gravitational force dominates with a surging growth. Energetically pulling the listener out of hypnosis - or rather into

Here, Alix takes the tools to Kalakuta, transforming the original's afrocentricity into a tense, punchy roller, dominated by a bass line which literally jumps in to your ears. Toss in a stabby synth line, rifle shot drums and plenty of bass with space, this a beautifully crafted refix.* On the artwork, we're really happy to welcome back the supremely talented Jimmy Turrell, a well-respected designer and illustrator who has worked with everyone from Fiat and Nike to The Guardian and Dazed & Confused. Asked once again to provide something inspired by Afrocentricism, he came back with a strikingly bold image that evokes the essence of the music.

Proxima's debut album, Alpha, released on December 1 through Tempa, follows on from a string of blistering
singles for the label, which found the Dutch producer carving out a stark and synthetic vision of 140bpm club
music. Across its eleven tracks, Alpha sharpens his already distinctive aesthetic while significantly broadening in
scope. It's a manifesto of sorts, centred firmly around his characteristic, titanium-hard dubstep mutations, yet
comfortable taking spaced out voyages through melody-soaked electronics, freaked-out sci-fi funk and vocal-led
songs.
Raised in Eindhoven, Proxima, aka Gijs Snik, cut his teeth in drum 'n' bass, with a string of acclaimed 12'
releases for labels including Shogun Audio. But it was when he turned his hand to dubstep that he hit upon a
fresh seam of inspiration. His take on the genre consciously drew upon the perpetual momentum and futuristic
atmospheres of drum 'n' bass inspirations like Photek, yet took advantage of the space within the mix to ratchet
up his music's physical impact to near delirious intensity. His productions strafe dancefloors with stinging welts of
sub-bass and razor-sharpened percussion.
Following his three singles for Tempa, Alpha gathers Proxima's most fully realised music to date - widescreen in
sound but packing intense sound system force. Next to the tinny grind that's characterised some of dubstep's
harder side in recent years, its tracks are rendered in full 3D, with percussion lines moving in snakelike coils
around firestorm distortion, and icepick melodies that cut sharply into the foreground. Opener 'Prologue' is a
deadly dance of glassy shrapnel, its melodies flickering through the mix like early grime blasted into space. It's
followed by the frosty expanses of 'Trapped', a lean halfstep monolith that ranks as one of his toughest and most
minimal tracks so far, and which has been a deadly fixture on dubplate in recent months. 'Pressurized' finds P
Money on frenzied form - with the London MC's rapid-fire bars cutting through windmilling percussion and
grinding beats - while later on the album DRS' voice is taut and restrained while the chaos of 'Smog' erupts
around him.
Indeed, while Proxima's tracks and stripped-back 12's are regulars in the record bags of DJs like Youngsta and
Icicle, the reference points for Alpha stretch far beyond the dubstep world. Its self-contained vision and frosty
evocations of deep space recall the interstellar techno voyages of Detroit pioneers like Jeff Mills, Dopplereffekt
and DJ Stringray. And the rhythmic intricacy and steely poise of tracks like 'Pressurized' and 170bpm Icicle
collaboration 'Redshifted' draw upon the electric charge of contemporary drum & bass, recalling both Shogun
Audio's wiry funk and the machine soul of dBridge and Exit Records.
It's these contrasting impulses that lend Alpha its power. On thrilling highlight 'Gravity', moments of silence are
shattered by shredding distortion and drums cutting violently into empty space. Elsewhere, pinpoint technicality is
paired with moments of striking emotional openness. 'In Vacuo' and 'Playing The Arp' pair tough muscle with
dazzling lead lines, with the latter evolving to a gorgeous, harmony-led climax. And 'Afterwards', featuring the
vocals of Dnae, detours into jazzy territory, sounding both futuristic and strangely bucolic. It closes with the woozy
'Epilogue', whose blend of superheated harmony and intricate percussion captures the essence of Alpha, a debut
album whose approach is familiar in essence but often startlingly fresh in execution.

The inaugural release for the label offshoot of Australian radio show Noise In My Head, 'Tracks For Performance' serves up two new tracks from LA-based anomaly Suzanne Kraft. Originally conceived as a contemporary dance score, these proven body movers are some of the producer's toughest work to date. 'Dead Ringer' finds a snake charmer harmonising with the racket of a metal works factory while 'Ruff Bathers' tries to operate the forklift under heavy sedation.

* Now firmly established as purveyors of bass-heavy vinyl at the forefront of the Dubstep movement whilst staying true to the roots of the Dubstep sound, the seventh release from Subaltern Records comes from young UK talent - Taiko, who delivers four diverse hard hitting takes of Bass Music, showcasing the diversity of the 140 realm and the versatility of his production.


* Truly taking the listener on a trip from start to end, 'Perfect Wait' opens Taiko's debut release on Subaltern Records with force: Menacing synth lines, heavy bass and vast spaces accumulate to an energetic masterpiece, bound to make serious impact wherever it is unleashed.

* As the name suggests, 'Bloomerang' hits unexpectedly in every aspect. Sophisticated rhythms and lush melodies compliment each other, creating another mesmerizing blend of what Taiko's creative arsenal has to offer - use with caution!

* In his remix of 'Perfect Wait', dubstep veteran Biome throws in his unique signature styles - melting the original into a merciless roller, which leaves the listener breathless. Dangerous!

* Eugene Hector combines his two most well known aliases on his latest 12'.

* The A-side contains two tracks from Hector's house focused Tuff Sherm guise. The first, 'Scope', combines a dark chunky bass line with jacking drums and a slick Lil Wayne sample. The second Tuff Sherm effort 'Prime Engine' recalls the hydraulic pump of Steve Pointdexter but with a much more menacing feel.

* On the flip Dro Carey returns with 'Human Parcel', an ominous number combining a dark, brooding undercurrent, shuffling percussion and grimy strings. The track has been given a muscular club-friendly remix by Atlanta's DJ Vague.

Key players of the Scandinavian electro scene have worked together to deliver a snapshot of their unique sound for BT04. Luke Eargoggle, Kan3da, Obergman and Rutherford deliver everything from icy electro to downtempo, mournful IDM leanings. Between them, the artists have released on highly respected labels such as Bunker, Abstract Forms, AC and Transient Force.

Luke Eargoggle also runs the important and highly respected label Stilleben. All copies come with an individual screenprinting sleeve and include digital download.

The lead single off Usher's forthcoming seventh album sported something of a deceptive title; whereas most expected Climax to be about, well, climaxing, the record was more of a denouement, depicting the artist coming to terms with the fact that he and the woman he loved were drifting apart. By contrast, follow-up selection Scream, despite sounding much less like a bedroom burner, is actually about orgasms. Thematically, the record is a lot like Yeah!, but better! With an emphasis on the screaming rather than what's being screamed (and sans guest features). The sound, however, is quite a bit different; in keeping with current audiences' appetites for balls-to-the-wall club bangers, Max Martin goes for broke on the production tip, crafting a pounding, four-on-the-floor instrumental that builds to an explosive, synth-drenched chorus. Needless to say, Terry Raymond IV takes to the track like a fish to water, exhibiting characteristic confidence and sex appeal as he schemes about how to get an alluring female clubgoer into bed. Is Scream a worthy follow-up to Usher's previous release, and is definitely set for the top spot. Big club banger, enjoy the remixes!

Half Light is sure to be one of the festival anthems of the Summer. Anyone who was a D&B fan at the turn of the millennium will remember the impact that 'liquid funk' had on the genre. Meanwhile their compilations go from strength to strength - two of their previous compilations have hit the number 1 spot both in the iTunes Electronic chart and the Beatport Top 100 Releases chart.

'Escapism 2' is the second instalment in Liquicity's compilation series which invites you to soak up the glorious sound of liquid funk circa 2014. The first edition received an incredible amount of love topping both the Beatport Top 100 Releases and the iTunes Electronic Album charts and the follow up looks set to replicate that success.

Coming with a selection of established drum & bass producers alongside some of the hottest new talent the genre has to offer including Logistics, Dkay, Seba, Jenna G, Murdock, Maduk and Future Prophecies 'Escapism 2' is undoubtedly Liquicity's most ambitious project to date, but one listen will show you that ambition has paid off. Packed with glorious, melodic drum & bass that's at home in your headphones as much as it is on the dancefloor; this is one compilation you can't afford to ignore this autumn.

The limited vinyl sampler holds the two most prolific tracks from the album: 'Good Luv' by Murdock, Submatik & Jenna G and the Logistics remix from 'Believe' by Maduk.

* The extended project follows his three track release 'Sleepwalkers' in 2013 and 'Timelines' in 2014.
Om Unit was schooled via Metalheadz. Although he earned his stripes via Hip Hop as DJ 2Tall it was breakbeat-hardcore and Jungle that shaped his attitude towards electronic music and the ferocious trail blazing of the Metalheadz crew was an undoubted inspiration.

* Thus it makes perfect sense that his take on this sound, his contribution to moving this sound forward comes via Metalheadz. The sonic nature of the project is rooted in London, Chicago and Detroit- Drums, Subs and Textures.

* Touching Down
What an opening track! It begins with 2 minutes of strings- pure emotion and drama. The track steps up to the gauntlet that Goldie so loves to throw down. Before the track drops we're treated to Cleveland Watkiss announcing 'Setting the standard, we deliver the blueprint' and so the journey begins...

* The War Fear Jehst
Jehst delivers rhymes on the state of our society over Om Units un relenting 808s and think breaks. Jehst takes the role of a hooded watcher in the shadows, overseeing everything that we're descending into, It's an overt commentary. The use of sample at the end of the track sums up what so many millions of us do without even thinking twice. It is By this point you begin to understand Om Unit has crafted a true extended project.

* The Crossing
The intro develops into a breakbeat roll out that is accented by this almost astral travel feeling that builds and builds into this sprawling track that has a deep sense of soul to it.

* Layers
A piece without drums or bass, the best way to describe this track would be a soundtrack piece, it immediately puts you at a point in a journey before the final battle commences. As much Bladerunner as Blue Note.

* Bardo Realms
The track begins with light pads and almost vocals and gives way to a filthy reese bass. On display is Om Unit's amazing ability to edit breaks into something altogether new, the funky drummer is now even more funky as it skitters over massive dubby bass.

* Understand
Perhaps the most complex track on the project, breaks chop against one another with bass lighting up the battle, and just when you think it's over the amen drops, murder. It's at this point that we we head into dancefloor destroyer territory for the album.

* Parallel
Half time grit, something you can imagine Loxy and Dbridge playing straight away, that dark low reese lit funk, it strides into Dillinja territory when enters its climax with massive saturated 808s setting the standard.
* Mystic
The last track on the album is minimal and tribal, it brings proceedings to a close in fantastic way, Paranoid and other worldly. The perfect final track to a hugely daring project on behalf of Metalheadz and Om Unit.

The Cotton Goods affiliated Other Ideas imprint ends the year with a bit of a seasonal treat - a long-in-the-making conceptual album made in the spirit of, and delivered just in time for xmas. The Humble Bee is the work of Craig Tattersall of Hood / The Remote Viewer and The Boats fame, featured here in collaboration with a cast of players that have long been part of his extended musical family, including Russell Burden (Harmonium), Marrissa Katarine Bergmann (Voice), Bill Seaman (Piano) Emmanuel Witzthum (Viola), Danny Norbury (Cello) and Thomas Ruhe (Trumpet). As Tattersall explains: The project began upon seeing a video of Ukichiro Nakaya creating artificial snowflakes in a laboratory in 1936. With further research into snowflake formation I devised a set of rules for players to perform by. All snowflakes follow one rule, they have 6 sides. So I choose 6 players and asked them to watch a small film I had made cutting from original footage of Ukichiro Nakaya creating snowflakes. In reaction to this I asked each player to compose and perform a piece of music with their given instrument based upon a predefined 6 note scale and instructed each player to record at 60bpm. Each player was also given a length of time to play for, from 1 to 6 minutes at 1 minute intervals. They were told that silences and spaces were as welcome as noises and notes and that was all. Once I received all the audio I set about constructing a piece of music around these parts. I had figured that if they all played/started at once and looped they would fall back into sync after 60 minutes. So I made the piece one hour, the rest was composition and processing.' The result of these recordings is featured on the bonus CD here, while the vinyl pressing is Tattersall's own re-working of the material, containing 6 'remixes' of 6 minutes each in length with each track predominantly based around one of the layers/instruments. In line with so much of his output over the years, it's a sublime, meditative listen, falling somewhere between the worlds of Gas, Harold Budd and, of course, The Remote Viewer to help us end the year in a serene, blissful state...

UK born musician and producer based in Spain for over 20 years, Don Fe's passion since the age of five has been music, classically trained in piano, flute and theory and as from sixteen reggae. From his humble beginnings in the 80s with a 4 track and a TDK D90 his riddims and productions are now being played by the world's most respected sounds - Channel One, Jah Shaka, Aba Shanti, Iration Steppas and many more all over the world.

The title is very apt, you can hear the machines working away in this track. The drums are left with all their original character - full of warmth and pop. The pads hang over the track in a threatening manner with bass tones playing off one another. An exercise in restraint as the shaker doesn't drop till three minutes into the track along with off kilter FX and subtle percs.

Subtext presents the debut album from UK based Sri Lankan born artist Paul Jebanasam. Rites brings together five settings of stark sonic poetry whose underlying logic bridges the worlds of contemporary classical, metal, sacred music and sound design.

Norwegian duo Soft as Snow makes experimental pop for the interplanetary set, echoing the sounds of minimal wave and early Warp releases. Their approach to music making is hands-on; avoiding laptops in favour of analogue synths, drum machines and samplers, mixed with idiosyncratic vocals and heavily processed guitars. They'll be releasing their debut EP, 'Glass Body', for Houndstooth on July 21st, 2014.

Soft as Snow is Oda Egjar Starheim and Øystein Monsen's first electronic venture, yet their collaboration was initiated years ago through art related performances and projects - including creating their own utopic art and music festival in the Swedish forest, and performing at events in cities such as London (where they are now based) and Oslo.

The duo has invited Julie Born Schwartz to design the cover art for their EP, which also features a remix by Asher Levitas of Old Apparatus, Saa and Penny. Meanwhile, their first upcoming video for the track 'Halo Heart,' created by Michael Crowe from Overshare Records, Penny and Mysterious Letters, is currently on display in DZIALDOV Gallery in Berlin.

Aanbreken is a musical duo, comprised of producer Tim Aminov and singer Gala Ga, who after 10 years of musical exploration decided to join forces in 2013. Now, over a year later, they are set to release their debut EP, Verge.

Influenced by an intrigue with ancient religious rituals, Aanbreken have crafted a hypnotic and evocative release that will hit at the heart for electronic music lovers. Thick ambient, mellow and electronic sounds work as a base for Gala's deep sensual vocals.
The sound is a product of the duo's past in hip-hop, soul, jazz, pop and reggae and makes for a textured release, inspired by a multitude of genres. It acts as their expression of community, brotherhood and anarchistic mood in modern day society.
In 2013 they were involved within the underground music scene in Moscow. From their very first performance together they'd already written the majority of this material. However, they felt the need to add some acoustic instruments. The percussionist Zakk Hemma joined the live project to complement their electronic sound with live drums.
As ideologists, Aanbreken have set about constructing a concept EP, with a defined manifesto guiding their sound. The music explores the principles, character and meaning of 'Action'. As they state themselves, 'every system is a chain of actions... Every order of actions is a ritual. Whether it's originated naturally or created by man'

Leisure System, the collective, label and famed Berghain club night of four years standing, is back with their third release from co-founder and resident, Sam Barker. Known for its genre-defiant lineups, Leisure System's quarterly residency has consistently brought together artists with varying styles. Flying Lotus, Autechre, Afrika Hitech, Jackmaster, Surgeon, Jimmy Edgar, Blawan, 808 State, Dopplereffekt, Clark, Machinedrum, Surgeon, Venetian Snares, Objekt and Egyptian Lover have all graced the decks, showing off the collective's commitment to the exploration of new and experimental sounds in EDM. The development of the label, and now this release from Barker, is no exception. After discovering computers and raves in the late '90s, Barker began making tracks at age 13, building up a sizable collection of vintage analogue synths, paving the way for his future solo work and collaborations with artists like Tim Exile, Clark, Shitmat, Scotch Egg, The Field, Leafcutter John and Jimmy Edgar. Shortly after his 2007 move to Berlin, Barker began collaborating with fellow Berghain resident nd_baumecker, resulting in their ongoing project Barker & Baumecker. Their first EP 'Candyflip', was released on Ostgut Ton in 2010, followed up by a live show tour throughout Europe. The duo is currently readying their second EP and have a long player due out in August 2012. For this new solo EP, mastered by electronic music legend Pole, Barker presents a creative three-track lesson in diversity and highlights Leisure System's ever-evolving aural curiosity. The opener and title track 'Like An Animal' is a number that builds and builds, quickly changing course and mutating into a percussive and texturized melting pot of sounds. Up next the hypnotic 'I Feel', which is filled with moody pads and syncopated breakbeat rhythms, paving the way for the mechanical, yet smooth half-step rhythm of 'Hot Lover'. Siimilar to the collective, this offering pushes boundaries and mirrors the progressive ideals of the collective. Just like Leisure System's first two 12's from Pixelord and Eprom in 2011, Barker's 'Like An Animal' EP is a clear statement of the label's simple and distinct commitment : to be a platform for timeless, thrilling and soulful dance music in the fields of house, techno and electronica, disregarding media hype and genre borders.
