Muscle is the new single from Gwilym Gold, and the first release on HYMN, a new record label founded by Eddie Peake in collaboration with The Vinyl Factory. Due for release on 14 July, the single comes backed with a remix by Beam.

Fittingly, the seeds of the music that would become Muscle were sown with Gold and Peake working together for the White Cube exhibition, Adjective Machine Gun. Eight hours a day, four days a week for six weeks straight last year, Gold would sit at a piano in the gallery improvising a soundtrack to Peake's work with five dancers for a piece entitled Infinite Disparity. Like some fast-tracking of Malcolm Gladwell's fabled 10,000 hour rule of greatness, from this mammoth 200-hour extemporisation came forth the tender and strange beauty that is Muscle. As with previous collaborations, Gold has created the music and Peake the visuals, including all of the single artwork and its forthcoming video.

Muscle is the first new recorded material from Gwilym Gold since the release of the ground-breaking TENDER METAL project in 2012. A pioneering musical piece available exclusively in BRONZE - the generative-music format created by Gwilym Gold with producer Lexxx - which reinterprets songs in real time, manipulating all aspects of the sound to open up a world of unprecedented musical possibilities. As an idea, it remains truly ahead of its time.

Eddie Peake's work encompasses a broad array of media, and in his performances he often draws upon the power of live music and sound as a means to convey, as well as dictate, emotional and psychological narratives. His recent music projects include last year's Sing About Me Part 1 with Kendrick Lamar, St John Sessions with Actress, and Infinite Disparity with Gold, Ben Esser and Alexis Nunez.

Holger Bundle 1 combines the frst three releases of the label: Starting with the fuzzy electronics of Italian production-
wizards Margot (Holger 1: »Trentaseitrenta EP« - including the eponymous modern synth pop hit), moving to Timoka's sophisticated retro-futurism (Holger 2: »Waters EP«) and rounding things of with Dream Weapons' driving Kraut-Techno (Holger 3: »Pathways EP«). Conceptualized as a mini series with coherent artworks, Holger 1 - 3 give an idea of where the label is headed: Brave electronic music, heavy on synths and free in form. It's an experimental playground, combining roots in dance music with the urge to look way beyond. All this comes enclosed by a black tote bag with white logo print - quite a minimalistic counterpoint to the free-form spirit that is at the core of Holger.

Jimmy Billingham returns to Opal Tapes with Holo Earth, the first HOLOVR 12". The two sides comprise of blended suites covering Billinghams past working with tapes and hardware into a future of more complex composition and convolving sample work. At times the record is sweet, drums bounce and bip with filigrees of synth whirling through like wind in a bottle. At other points the record empties and the lonely pulse of Venn Rain (Jimmy's earlier project) is felt most strongly. Estranged and blue lipped, the field recordings of alien environments litter the blur emerging. A haunting listen.

Man Make Music's second release is a collaboration between two talented Londoners, Jack Dixon and Rick Grant. Having already made waves with individual releases on labels such as Brownswood, Hypercolour and TAKE, these two good friends now offer up a pair of brilliantly off-kilter house tracks. 'Running Man' is a heady mix of skipping percussion and caressing Juno synth-lines, whilst, on the flip, 'Muted' takes a more understated, melancholic turn, counterbalancing the ecstatic nature of the A-side. Jack and Rick's contributions are also offset by Kevin McPhee's weird and wonderful slow-mo interpretation of 'Running Man'. The remix blends vocals drenched in reverb with creeping piano riffs and shows yet another musical side of a man garnering plaudits from all corners for his unique style.

* LSN are a group consisting of 6 musicians/producers including a lead female vocalist.
They entered the bass music scene earlier this year with their debut track Diyumi which was featured on the smash hit LP Live From The Future Extended Edition. They are now set to release their first solo release on Uprise Audio in form of their Apollo EP, a 5 track multi tempo/genre release on both vinyl and digital formats. LSN are ones to watch right now and for the future.
Renegade
* Renegade begins with deep cinematic impact, sounding of a division bell and haunting vocal pads which filter in and out of rainy atmospherics. Ancestral style vocals and melodies then create the scene for a militant beat structure with tribalistic percussion which reinforce the song structure and sets direction. Renegade builds slowly, but intensely, captivating the attention of the listener and maintaining their focus. Every element in this tracks adds to its vast sonic soundscape and contributes to the tension which evolves within it. Full consistent support from Youngsta, J:Kenzo, Seven, Rinse FM.
Speak To Me
The team switch things up with this one, adopting the 170 bpm tempo and showing their versatility. Like Renegade the intro takes a cinematic approach as kick drums begin to set the pace and groove structure. Simetra's vocal ad-libs enhance the slowly building atmosphere for the rolling drop of stepped out intelligent beats accompanied by a subtle airy twisted bass line. Simetra's vocal hook picks up the energy to a higher level as the track takes new form with intricate percussion edits and clever arrangement features. Full vocal structure and a solid vibe throughout make this track a winner in every respect. A solid performance.
Technology Mountain
With the added emotion in Atomic Planet there was always a question asked about as to where the EP could and would go next. Technology Mountain answers that question with sublime authority. Everything about this track is divine. So soft and powerful at the same time, a total contradiction in reality but come together in unison all throughout this piece. This track shows not just only how diverse LSN's creative pallet can be, but how strong their overall sound really is. Expressing themselves on many levels at all different tempos. This 136 bpm effort is the perfect outro to a stunning EP.

Detroit's Travis Galloway, he of ALL GONE Records and Traag brings the Siobhan alias to Opal Tapes for a bout of lo-fi hoods up battery. Shifting templates of dank electro and raw cracked techno step together with raudive announcements commentating the current disorder of the head. Michigans industrial backbones is present throughout the recording, many sounds black on grey but this time Siobhan hangs gobs of pink muck and faded neon over his rolling perc. Like the district the release is named after, watch where you put your feet.

We kick off 2011 with the latest collaborative plate of Bristol-based Build badness - label boss Baobinga cooking up two 'what-do-you-call-it' tracks with one of 2010s breakthrough producers, the man they call Hyetal. Starting 2010 with a huge Punch Drunk release alongside Shortstuff, Hyetal further refined his sound through collaborations with Peverelist, and the massive Prince-tastic anthem 'Phoenix' on Orca - which can be found sitting proudly at number 36 in FACT Magazine's 'Tracks Of The Year' run-down. With some big releases due in 2011, and more Velour beats (with Julio Bashmore) on the way, we're very excited to have him involved in a Build release.The A side here, 'Anything For Now', is a perfect example of when collaborations work perfectly - and finished every set of Ginz's recent US tour to rapturous response. Through the course of an ever-evolving arrangement, tough dancefloor drums drive epic synth lines and melodies forward to a point of ecstatic release, all tied together with powerful sub-bass and a staggering level of detail.Meanwhile, the AA, 'Trouble', could almost be dancehall from alpha-centuri, as again, a cornucopia of glistening chords, synthetic steel drums and swaggering, swinging drums proper the dancefloor through spiky, bruising bass-weight punches. As a staple of both producers' sets, 'Trouble' has been shown to do the business without ever resorting to cliche.

Since contributing 'Hoodrat' to Coyote Kings, Chemist's momentum within instrumental grime circles has built at a fierce pace. He has put together a blistering mix for The Astral Plane, received significant radio support from key artists on Rinse FM, BBC 1Xtra and NTS, as well as an inclusion in Boxed's Volume 2 compilation. The influential Boxed crew have backed Chemist's talents further still, with an invitation to play at their peerless club night in July. Most excitingly, also in July, Coyote Records are proud to present Chemist's debut full release; two of his deadliest dubs with accompanying remixes from certified heavyweights Last Japan and Rabit. The record is Coyote's eighth; a continuation in a series of essential releases from grime's most arresting new producers. Words can't even come close to adequately illustrating the sheer frostiness of Chemist's 'Defiance' and 'Blocks', as he marries classic grime and eski motifs with sparse arrangements, brutally precise execution and contemporary influence. 'Defiance' impacts with awesome force; stark dynamic contrasts, diamond-edged percussive accents and a powerful bassline that lurks menacingly in the low-end spectrum. Rabit - a master of deconstruction - reduces the track down to its core elements and reconfigures them to deliver his own, eminently unique version. 'Blocks' is high-drama, moody instrumental grime at its best, with a climactic melody line that shimmers with an icy glare amidst barrages of speaker-punching handclaps and sunken bass hits - a proper, emotive dance-wrecking weapon. 'Blocks' is remixed by the diversely talented Last Japan, who develops the harmonies further with haunting choral synths and reworks the percussion; creating a neck-breaking swing and roll over another absolutely massive bassline. For L/B014 Bulgarian musical genius and painter Cooh aka Ivan Shopov has found time in his busy schedule to cook up 4 tunes that show his amazing versatility and cunning production skills. Ranging from the trapped out influences of 'Duuure VIP', the remix of a legendary tune which was originally released on Position Chrome in 2008 and changed hard drum&bass forever, to the broken beats of '
'Propast' and stunningly avant-garde 'Sunshine Units' (a current favorite of The Panacea & The L/B Family), he switches effortlessly to the neuro-funk influenced 'Raised in the Sky', a collaboration with C.A.2K. from Russia, who recently has had a run of strong releases himself.

The sheer talent Cooh displays with his music is extraordinary but the fact he has been a renowned Painter, working with both pencil and acrylic, makes him truly outstanding. With the help of Photographer & Illustrator Tom Hamel and L/B Recordings Owner Limewax aka Maxim Anokhin, who models on the cover, the three designed a record sleeve that shows one of Shopov's latest acrylic paintings 'Propast', a colorful and somewhat aggressive work that speaks of passion and furor, in which he got additional assistance and input by Anokhin. An ultra-limited run of 20 copies will contain a signed print of the work by the two artists, making this EP a very special and sought-after project indeed.

Will To Be Well is the new studio album by Dalhous, their second for Blackest Ever Black. This double-LP reflects writer-producer Marc Dall's continued interest in the life and arcana of R.D. Laing, but also alludes to more universal and enduring mysteries: the relationships between body and mind, illness and wellness, the physical and the metaphysical. The fifteen tracks assembled here also showcase the maturation of a uniquely gifted and expressive composer: Dall's stirring, efflorescent melodies and stately harmonic architectures, with their grievously honed simplicity, are a delight: lucid, lyrical, immediate. For all the modernity of Dalhous's approach, the album recalls a bygone era in synthesized and sample-based music, a time when its practitioners were not just set-designers but storytellers too. Will To Be Well arrives just one year on from the Edinburgh-based project's tenebrous debut, An Ambassador For Laing, which was released to widespread acclaim in Spring 2013: The Wire praised "a frequently beautiful music, whose often calm surface belies the powerful currents moving beneath it", while FACT called the LP a 'wonderfully compelling head-scratcher...opaque, elusive - and fascinating.' Nonetheless, a notable shift in tone has occurred in the fourteen months that have elapsed. If Ambassador was a tussle between darkness and light that ended in stalemate, with Will To Be Will it seems the light might just be winning. Pieces like 'Transference' and 'Her Mind Was A Blank' project a rapturous psychedelic intensity; 'To Be Universal You Must Be Specific' and 'Entertain The Idea' adopt the serene ambient register of recent Dalhous EP Visibility Is A Trap; while 'Sensitised To This Area' goes about its business with an almost Balearic swagger. But light too can be oppressive: the sun that gives life can also burn, and bleach, and blind. And even amid the endorphin rush of the album's most ebullient passages, there is the sense of a greater melancholy, an intractable doubt, lurking beneath the surface. Dalhous's music is suitably paradoxical, managing to sound at once futuristic and folkloric, both technologically advanced and avowedly pastoral. The elegiac repetitions of 'A Communion With These People' and the pagan drones of 'Lovers Of The Highlands' speak of Dall and his studio partner Alex Ander's deep connection to the rugged contours of their native Scottish landscape, while on 'Four Daughters By Four Women' and 'Thoughts Out Of Season' convulsive post-rave rhythms are employed to evoke ancient natural cycles. Though Will To Be Well is a less obviously eerie album than its predecessor, Dalhous's nose for the uncanny remains. A defining album from a major young artist. Listen:

We welcome Flowdan back to Hyperdub. It was he, alongside Killa P, who vocaled one of Hyperdub's early hits, the now classic 'Skeng' by the Bug, As a founding member of Roll Deep, Flowdan's guttural yardstyle delivery and booming flow became instantly identifiable amongst the static and anarchy of grime's early-2000s pirate radio presence. Surprisingly, this is his first EP as a solo artist and it's appropriately named 'Serious Business'. There are four equally serious producers working on beats here. 'Ambush' is produced by Newham Generals' Footsie and sets the tone with hip hop beats and a dusky feel with a tale explaining that if he was to be ambushed he'd stand up for himself on his own, his vocals flipping between an angry bark to a stentorian chant. 'People Power' is about stinging chants of insurrectionary rage over a classic, muscular, lurching Bug riddim. 'F About' is produced by Coki from Digital Mystikz - one of his first beats for a grime MC, and it's a good one. Uncompromising lyrics over deadly, rolling snares, and a panic inducing mix of piano, synth horns and off key bleeps.'No Gyal Tune' is a killer battle track, produced by Masro with crisp rolling snares, weaponized bass drums, with lyrics promising a bloody end to all tin pan soundboys. Don't test.

After the success of their first EP 'Bells from the Deep End', we've decided to do a follow up with this new EP. Another cracking limited edition silk screenhand/handmcut sleeve (300 copies) is to be had for early purchasers (the first one sold out almost instantly), and we expect more dancefloor deviance with their newest grooves.

Golden Teacher started life as a studio collaboration between Glasgow's experimental hardcore trio, Ultimate Thrush and Glasgow's all analogue house duo, Silk Cut. The results of their collaboration turned the ears of all who heard them, not least Twitch who after one listen asked if he could release the project on Optimo Music label.

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night is the second EP from Golden Teacher's sessions at The Green Door studio, recorded a few weeks after their first. Recorded straight to tape in one take, this record sees the group and its varying collaborators explore darker, hypnotic song structures with a heavy emphasis on polyrhythmic grooves and 6/8 time signatures. Again the music is completely improvised with dubbed-out production and mixed live.

It's a little hard to describe Golden Teacher's sound on this record (always a good thing in our book) but imagine Arthur Russell's Dinosaur L, Liaisions Dangereuses, mixed with a Shackleton edit of west African drumming. As wild as they sound on record, wait until you see them live!

This is heavy, rhythmic dance music, If you are looking for slick, smooth, generic computer made tunes, this release probably isn't for you, Sugar.

Hidden Turn's 'Big Dirty EP' on Doc Scott's ThirtyOne Recordings Four tunes, something a little different, kinda dnb, kinda not. The
lead track 'Big Dirty' has a got that dirty hiphop vibe but taking it to somewhere else. DJ Flight perfectly described the EP best by
saying: BADASS. Radio & Club support from: Toddla T, Rockwell, Craze, Hype, Die, Freq Nasty, Danny Breaks, Flight.

Jessy Lanza's debut album 'Pull My Hair Back', co-written and co-produced with Jeremy Greenspan from Junior Boys, is a 2013 flagship for what electronic pop could sound like, stripped of bloated, behaviourist impulses that treat listeners like lab rats. It's graceful and erotic without the gratuitous close ups, icey and sensual, sweet without rotting your teeth, emotional but with enough blue glow to pull your heart strings. Jessy's voice flutters through the synths seductively, insistent without the over-singing and grating choruses that plague so much contemporary pop. Jessy Lanza has a background as a singer and skilled piano scholar, and the duo share a mutual love of collecting the old hardware synths and drum machines that grace this collection of songs. Transecting R&B, house, disco and '80s studio rock, the production is immaculate, reminiscent of early Junior Boys, treading that fine line between cold futurism and the R&B that Jessy and Jeremy are infatuated with. 'Pull My Hair Back' opens with the bouncy, acidic bassline, plaintive piano and shimmering, delay effected vocals of 'Giddy'. The ominous pitched down introduction of '5785021' gives way swiftly to a juddering pulse, insistent lyrics, bustling hi-hats and citric, crystalline synths. 'Kathy Lee' is a minimal, smouldering slow jam illuminated by smudged water colour keys, which switches into double time syncopation in the closing stretch, the song begging as many questions as it answers. Jessy's vocals sound comfortably at home over the fluttering-pitched synths of 'Fuck Diamond' and the album's pop pinnacle, 'Keep Moving', where the tempo rises into classic disco, house and techno. 'Against The Wall' marches in with crunchy, metallic drums and a bumbling baseline, as the singer's sweet, delayed voice rides a line through powerfully contrasting gurgling, strobing synths. The album's title track stutters in with carefree, implied S&M directives and sour splashes under an ultraviolet glow. 'As If' throws a curve ball as its rolling, martial snares and walking bassline climax in a sour, acidic crescendo. And the album rounds off gracefully with the flood of endorphins of 'Strange Emotion'. 'Pull My Hair Back' is bittersweet, blue and soulful, shot through with driving, fizzling arpeggios. It balances cold, machine tooled precision with Jessy's beguiling, elevated vocals and her more intuitive, impressionistic keyboard playing. As part of Record Store Day 2014, Peter Zummo's Lateral Pass album will be released by new London independent label Foom.
Zummo's Lateral Pass suite continues on stylistically from where Zummo With With An X (reissued by Optimo Music in 2012) left off, with 4 unique and arresting movements - 'Sci-Fi,' 'Slow Heart', 'Song VI' and the original, quintet version of one of the most acclaimed of Peter Zummo and Arthur Russell's collaborations - 'Song IV'.

Originally written as the score for the Trisha Brown Dance Company production of the same name, Lateral Pass prominently features Arthur Russell on amplified cello and vocals, as well as regular Arthur Russell collaborators - Bill Ruyle (on tabla and marimba) and Mustafa Ahmed (on marimba and percussion), alongside the acclaimed accordionist Guy Kluvecsek (collaborator of John Zorn, Alvin Lucier) and of course, Peter Zummo himself on trombone.
Peter Zummo is best known for his work with John Lurie's Lounge Lizards, Peter Gordon & Love Of Life Orchestra and of course, Arthur Russell. Zummo's signature trombone style, renowned for it's rich and soothing tone, has become one of the most beloved features of Russell's celebrated sound. As well as being close friends, their musical symbiosis was so complimentary that they almost seemed to form a single entity at times - to the point where it would be hard to imagine one's music with the other. Lateral Pass provides another example of the fruits of this tragically ephemeral relationship, as well as a further insight into Arthur Russell's cello-dominated World Of Echo period, which resulted in arguably his greatest work.
Recorded live at Battery Sound, NYC in 1985, Lateral Pass was mastered in Brooklyn by Paul Gold from the original ¼' tapes in the summer of 2013, exclusively using analog equipment (in the case of the vinyl version) and foregoing compression in order to preserve the dynamics of the recording.
In contrast to the alternate version of Lateral Pass released by New World as part of a CD only release in 2006., these arrangements are unheard and exclusive to Foom. We are proud to present Lateral Pass on vinyl for the first time, accompanied by US artist Nancy Graves' original artwork from the original shows.

Peter Zummo is an American composer and musician, based in New York City. He plays the trombone, valve trombone, euphonium, and also sings. He is an important exponent of the American contemporary classical tradition whose compositions explore the methodologies of numerous forms and styles. He describes his music as 'minimalism plus a whole lot more'.
Peter Zummo recently collaborated with Maximillion Dunbar on his Woo Daps release on RVNG Intl. and is currently performing with Billy Ficca (of Television) and Ernie Brooks (ex-Modern Lovers) under the name "Bear 54".

Tape Pack could perhaps be Ulterior Motives biggest track to date. The pair grew up on a diet of classic dance music and because of this that they have been able to write such an authentic rave anthem, this track will resonate with all corners of dance music because simply this is where it all started.

The most stripped track back the pair have written so far, the vocal of James Sunderland illuminates a tribal beat with Detroit techno strings. As the track develops you soon realise it is about maintaining a strong discipline in its drums and bass whilst the fx and vocals light up the route.

'Decadubs 3' is a vinyl-only companion-piece to Hyperdub's next birthday collection CD, 'Hyperdub 10.2' After '10.1', our first compilation of 10th anniversary dancefloor heaters, '10.2' features some of the label's best songs of the last five years, and this EP pulls tighter focus on six of that set's more body-moving moments. Hyperdub is often associated with dark and brooding instrumental music; however, this mid-summer collection sheds sunlight over that dread filled reputation, showcasing an underrated cast of talented songwriters, vocalists and producers. Laced with new cuts from Kode9, Cooly G, Morgan Zarate feauring. Eska and Ghostface Killah, Dean Blunt & Inga Copeland, DVA featuring Zaki Ibrahim, and a reversioned & revoiced contribution by Ikonika with Dam Funk, 'Decadubs 3' highlights a sometimes-overlooked aspect of Hyperdub's personality with a range of cerebral R&B, garage, funk, and icy pop. In the wake of Blocks & Escher's recent outings on Metalheadz, Critical, and Zomby's Cult Music, Narratives present the first solo
excursions on the label from one of its founders, Blocks. Varied, emotive and beautiful, the Séance EP is innately Narratives Music in sound and yet unlike anything the label has delivered previously. The Séance EP fleets between ethereal vocals, forlorn strings and analogue bursts of glassy synths, while drum machines dance with live kits that would be fitting of 90s Mowax records. Bass lines loom heavy throughout, simple and driving rhythms that bed the delicate keys and story telling harmonics above. As immersive as it is succinct, Blocks has created an extended player awash with feeling and juxtaposition; again displaying why Narratives Music has been lauded across electronic music from the likes of Goldie and
Com Truise to Zomby and Rob da Bank. Forming the veritable gem of the collection, is the vocal laden 'Haven', a collaborative piece between Blocks and the hugely talented Jennifer Hall. Live instrumentation of bowed strings and bass provide canvas for the heart wrenching tones of Hall. Doc Scott describes the track as 'Deep, deep blues'. More akin to a personal reflection of the artist than the frenetic speed of a club, more Twin Peaks meets Portishead than dance floor energy; this is music at a Drum & Bass tempo by a producer that doesn't want to be caught in a debate on style or subgenre. In essence it seems to emphasise a recent quote by Blocks, 'Drum and Bass is anything you can get away with'. London label Diagonal continue their swerve into caustic dancefloor territory with the debut pair of 12' releases from Bronze Teeth. Their extended technoid grooves perfectly match the project's name — they're tough, hard-edged and intricately sculpted for tensile strength and visceral impact.Traces of the sounds that feed into Bronze Teeth can be heard in the duo's individual projects. Dominic Butler is one-third of Factory Floor, the London-based trio renowned for their wiry, dynamic live shows; his modular electronics are an integral component in that band's devastating cocktails of Morse code electronic blips, drum and guitar. Richard Smith meanwhile, records as L/F/D/M, and debuted with a scintillating clutch of acid tracks on Optimo Music in 2013. Bronze Teeth offers them free rein to explore their own interests in sound, and in particular the potential for chaotic interaction between metallic programmed rhythms and the fleshy pulses of the human body. A Waif's Rent opens hard with 'Albion Pressure' ushered in by a cloud of distortion and teeming particulate matter. It gathers momentum and fury as it plays, scuttling forward like a column of ants. On the flipside 'Cut Bronze and 'Tephra' hew stark funk from woody drums, tellingly akin in mood and effect to recent Diagonal releases from Powell and Russell Haswell.

* HZN079 brings together two of Drum & Bass's most exciting proponents of the deeper side of the sound : Cern and Overlook. Tribal sounds and influences are rife throughout, effortlessly fusing with heavyweight beats to create two superbly crafted tunes.
* 'Nevada Ghost' : A haunting opening, characterised by organic sounds and samples and punctuated by the odd reverberated drum, builds up subtly, before giving way to the huge kicks of the main section. The omnipresent bass works in tandem with the drums to provide the foundation over which a multitude of sounds effortless swirl and flit.
* 'Decoy' : Melancholy pads and heavy drums set the tone early on. A variety of snares drive the tune forwards, whilst the understated sub rolls menacingly underneath. Distorted bass sounds add further weight, whilst cunningly worked samples maintain the interest throughout, ensuring that whilst stripped back, it is anything but simple or monotonous.
* Another wonderfully worked example on how less can be more, Nevada Ghost and Decoy are the kind of hard hitting tunes you would expect to hear in sets up and down the country. Full of driving drum riffs, sonorous subs and imaginative sample work, this is certainly not one to be slept on.

While recording the album, I watched alot of old movies. The majority of which were horrors like 'Eyes Without A Face' (1960), & 'Picnic At Hanging Rock' (1975). Thrillers, where special effects are non existant. Relying solely on suspence and a soundtrack, I tried to incorporate some of that into the recordings. So much so that, the album cover is a still from the latter of the two mentioned.

I recorded the majority of the album at my home in Athlone, Co. Westmeath. Using as many programs and instruments as I could get my hands on. Often experimenting with different techniques and ways of recording.

Musical influences for the album include, Boards Of Canada, Philip Glass, and William Basinski's ' The Disintegration Loops'. (Gary Kelly aka Johhny Yesterday)

One of the most intriguing artists on the Hospital Productions roster, Lussuria came to prominence with the release of three tapes as part of the 'American Babylon' series in 2012 which were eventually compiled into a double vinyl edition last year. His opiated atmospheres brought together the ritualistic appeal of late '70s and early '80s Italian industrial music crossed with the claustrophobia of early material from The Cure and the decadent, voyeuristic compulsion of Pasolini flicks so enamoured by Coil.

Formed in New Mexico in 2009, Mesa Ritual is the duo of William Fowler Collins and Raven Chacon. In their five year existence they have created a concise, extremely focused, and inimitable body of work consisting of one EP, and this, their first full length album

Scherbe is back on Uncanny Valley with his second full length EP. After his recent contribution to the UV20-compilation and a record on Fourth Wave he returns with the aptly titled "Late Nite Safari" and shows off again his knack for rumbling beats and fuzzy synths. "Poison Hillz" builds up on steamy percussions and a slowly rising bass line arpeggio that unfolds completely when the hi-hat drops in. You won't notice that wonderful synth pad coming but when it's there everything sounds right in place. "Long Time No Sea" is based on cowbell-heavy beats and tiny xylophone sounds. Completed by a yearning vocal sample and catchy guitar licks it keeps your head nodding. Scherbe's unique drum programming makes it stand out from most of the typical Deep House tracks and he makes sure that all the elements flow together into his distinctive groove. On the flipside, "Mosqito Beach" creates a tropical atmosphere with bird-like tones and sound textures of high humidity. With a piano loop rising up and down plus deranged organ sounds he brings things to a pretty mysterious end. Finally, "Specimen" is no exception to Scherbe's stuttering beats. And the tropical feeling is still there thanks to a distorted vocal sample that sounds like a frog. And with the beautiful piano melody combined with a tender flute the track ends on an almost old school House vibe. Once again, Uncanny Valley's very own Carl-Johannes Schulze aka Carl Suspect takes care of the record's artwork. He took the EP's title literally and set out into the Saxon woods to visualize his idea of what a late night safari could look like.

Mark Fell and Mat Steel's second EP as SND arrived a year after their debut 'Tplay' and continued to explore a distinct, highly individual take on electronic Minimalism, House and UK Garage stripped to its bare bones. The tracks here more or less split themselves into three distinct categories: the first detailing the
brilliant swing and shuffle of their reduced UKG mutations, with '22' in particular perfecting the balance between academic reduction and kinetic, feminine motion. The second outlines a more linear approach utilising reduced House and Techno templates, while the last includes more experimental works such as the proper fwwd bass-pulse arrangements on the previously unheard B2 and the frequency fxxckery of closing track D3.
With the original DAT tapes remastered and cut by Rashad Becker, this series is a real treat to followers of SND and Mark Fell, and an essential eye-opener for anyone unfamiliar with this
incredible early material.

The first release in 2013 comes from Kyoto based artist Katsunori Sawa. Sawa is one half of japanese duo Steven Porter (the other half being Yuji Kondo), who made an appearance on the label in late 2011 with the "LR EP".
"The Two Legs EP" continues pretty much where the duo's earlier outing left us sound wise. Sawa's very own take on the mid tempo spectrum results in four tracks that, regardless of their obvious focus on rhythmic repetition, appear either internally unstable and arduosly brought under control or both brutal and fragile at the same time.

Between sleep and the void lies the electronic interzone of Actress. Following the noted 2010 album Splazsh (voted number one in The Wire magazine's Top 50 Releases Of The Year) South London producer Darren Cunningham returns with a suite of electronic laments, tone structures and dreamtime rhythms which all carry his unmistakable fingerprint. R.I.P. comprises fifteen tracks painstakingly crafted by Cunningham in his London studio over recent years, with a conceptual arc taking in death, life, sleep and religion. 'I'm just an instrument,' Cunningham avers. 'I'm completely dead when I write.'

It's a release featuring Cooh, W.P.L, and Corrupted Minds. They have originally linked up together performing at Therapy Sessions and after this decided to collaborate in the studio and the result is these two dance floor killer tunes. The sounds are rough and the atmospheres are sick and obscure.

The artwork was designed by Ivan Shopov COOH himself. We decided to release a limited edition 12inch colored wax to support the vinyl market as that is where the history and roots of d&b reside and Big
Riddim Rec wants to continue to keep that culture alive.

It will also be available in digital format together with another surprise.

Since contributing to Big Dada's Grime 2.0 compilation, Inkke has been championed by key DJs and tastemakers from Scotland (Eclair Fifi, Jackmaster, S-Type) and further afield (Mumdance, Slackk, Plastician, Cashmere Cat, Ryan Hemsworth). He also contributed to LuckyMe's 2014 advent calendar, and released an acclaimed cassette EP, Faded With Da Kittens, on the Astral Black label.

Anchored between the end of the 80's and the beginning of the 90's, when industrial music courted funk, when electro(nica) made a shy appearance and house was visceral and plaintive, also inspired by current R&B productions and futuristic hip-hop, Tropics of Love is a slow tempo record that shines like a steel sun and rings diabolically romantic. 'On the Beach', a Balearic sombre take on Neil Young's classic song, makes you melt with pleasure; 'This is My Life', a Lil' Louis inspired scathing techno attack makes you dance; you put your arms up in the air for 'Bring Your Love', a pure gem of mournful pop with Luke Jenner of The Rapture on the mic; you move your backside to the syncopated beats and the feline voice of Akwetey (Dragons Of Zynth) on 'Each Other'; and only Joakim can make you fall asleep with your eyes wide open on the deviant electro jewels that are 'Three Lazer Fingers' and 'Hero'. Piano/ Trip Hop/ Electronic. For fans of Boards Of Canada, Pole, Hauschka, Four Tet, The Notwist. Working across a variety of media John Lemke explores all things sonic through live performance, sound design and his work as a documentary film composer. The Walizka EP is his latest solo release on Denovali Records. Three items in a suitcase, a clarinet, a looper and a microphone - is how it all started. A free improvisation with friend & collaborator Lukasz Bernacki (on clarinet) sparked John's desire to bring his compositional and production approach back down to the most basic elements. Creating simple, yet distinctive rhythms only through tapping contact microphones run into noisy guitar amps became the base for the EP's three tracks, consequently inspiring its live, lo-fi feel. Written and recorded between John's native Berlin and his adopted home of Glasgow, Walizka (Polish for 'suitcase') somehow absorbs the defining atmospheres of both cities in its core. Previously released digitally as a teaser for John's debut album, the Walizka EP actually presents newer material, progressing the electro-acoustic nature of 'People Do' towards more dub drenched territories. Refining John's blend of prepared piano and field recordings with hand crafted beats and swampy bass lines, this deeply moody and danceable release bends genres with refreshing ease. The EP is furthermore enhanced by a second half of remixes by fellow Denovali artists Piano Interrupted, SaffronKeira and Petrels and the ever elusive Everyday Dust. Ambient/ Electro/ Experimental. For fans of Ben Frost, Nico Muhly, Autechre, My Bloody Valentine, Glenn Branca or Steve Reich. Matthew Collings is a Scottish-based composer. Not only being a solo recording and live artist, he collaborates regularly with artists from all kinds of fields including musicians (Ben Frost, Dag Rosenqvist from Jasper TX, Denovali label mate Talvihorros, Christos Michalakos or Euan Mcmeeken with whom he forms the duo Graveyard Tapes), dancers and filmmakers. He's responsible for several installations using custom-made software, which have been exhibited at Burning Man Festival/ San Francisco, Glasgow's Centre for Contemporary Arts or the 50th Design Biennial in Ljubliana/ Slovenia. His work for films includes a specially commissioned live score for Dziga Vertov's 1929 silent classic, 'The Man with the Movie Camera' and an invitation to work on 'The Invisibles', a commission from Amnesty International. Before settling down in Edinburgh, he lived in Iceland for six year, where he wrote a number of albums issued under the name of his lo-fi/ambient project 'Sketches for Albinos'. His music can be roughly described as 'an elemental whorl of electro-acoustic (de)composition', ranging from tiny delicate moments of intimacy to all consuming noise. Strongly influenced by avant-garde guitar music, it calls the minimal music of Steve Reich or Gavin Bryars to mind in like manner. Having received remarkable praise for his debut 'Splintered Instruments', Denovali Records is re-releasing the debut album accompanied by the release of his new and second full length album entitled 'Silence Is A Rhythm Too'. The title of the record goes back to a line from a 1980's punk/new wave song by The Slits called 'In The Beginning There Was Rhythm', though Matthew Collings has mostly been pre-occupied creatively by an idea of painter Mark Rothko, when creating the album. Stepping away from song-like structures, which filled his previous record, 'Splintered Instruments', creates more spacious sounds and evokes the impression of time stretched through the three dimensions. Featuring brass ensembles and a string quartet the instruments and sounds are full of cracks, breath, embedding rough materials informed by luscious intentions. Real instruments and real acoustic spaces are used as much as possible during the production such as the electronics, were played out into concert halls and large rooms and re-recorded. 'Silence Is A Rhythm Too' keeps an eye on the small textural details as it is about harmony and physicality in the moment where silence and noise meet. CD:digipak. Do your thing, just make sure you're ahead of the game", warns 'Game', the opening salvo of Release, Pangaea's new double EP for Hessle Audio. It's a statement of intent for the entire record, reflecting the increasingly idiosyncratic nature of his music. techno, informed by a love of pirate radio and

to a four-to-the-floor pulse, rhythms are splayed
outwards....

Bristol bass merchants Loadstar need little introduction. Last year saw them unleash their debut album 'Future Perfect' packed with no less than 22 tracks. A deluge of success followed, with 'Warrior' being hand-picked by Radio 1's Zane Lowe as his Hottest Record in the World and Loadstar being asked to record a coveted Essential Mix, not to mention bringing their DJ skills to festivals all through the summer including Secret Garden Party and Global Gathering.
Since the release of their album, Loadstar's schedule has remained packed, with the boys remixing Naughty Boy ft. Emile Sande's smash 'Lifted,' dropping an immense remix EP taken from 'Future Perfect' including their own reworking of 'Losing You' and now dropping a fresh single for Ram Records.

*Since his debut release in 2008, Phaeleh aka Matt Preston has developed an inimitable style of cinematic electronic music, which floats between the shifting tempos and timbres of dubstep, garage, electronica and house music.
*Phaeleh's last two long play releases on Afterglo records - 'Fallen Light' and 'The Cold In You' - have cemented his position as one of the most exciting new producers to emerge from his current hometown, Bristol. Phaeleh's downbeat and heartfelt sound honours the tradition of Bristolian forefathers Massive Attack, Smith & Mighty and Portishead, with a fresh outlook and penchant for sub sonics.
*This time, he's skirted round the easy option and stepped away from any formulas that seemed too comfortable. Berlin based Vidab records is pleased to announce the debut album from accomplished musician and producer Tomas Svensson. The German based label Kitty Corner Records turns back the wheel and starts a new series of fresh experimental techno music. The opening track 'Hachzem' from Bristol's Kanji Kinetic comes with storming mutant basslines and rave stabs collide over a thumping techno beat. For 'Battle Creek Brawl' RRRitalin and Cynthia Stern take it back to '92 with pitched up rap vocals over a prodigy style breakbeat hardcore track. Spaceface's 'Hands of a Lunatik' is frenetic and crazy wonky techno, while Luke's Anger rounds off the EP with the robotic 909 warehouse beats of 'Throwing Switches'.

Groundbreaking British drum'n'bass pioneer, Roni Size, has announced a new 16 track album released on his new label, Mansion Sounds.
The album will focus purely on 'dancefloor cuts for the heads', with Size reprising his role as a producer/DJ away from the live environment he's explored with Reprazent.

Skrufix is a Berlin based outfit steadily strengthening their stature behind a series of revered parties and left-of-centre releases. Never opting for the path of least dance-floor resistance, Skrufix champion off-kilter strands of Breakbeat driven Rave, Techno and House and have released music from Turtlez, MightHor and Things With Wings.

SKRUV001 inaugurates an exciting addition to Skrufix's operations - a vinyl project aiming to outlet choice cuts of cross-genre dance-floor fodder from the auspicious and the established.

First in line is Edward Upton a.k.a EDMX - a producer with a back catalogue of considerable depth and consistency inclusive of shape-shifting releases that date as far back as the mid-90's. A bonafide veteran of U.K dance music, Edward has released under myriad aliases (most notably DMX Krew) for labels such as his own Breakin', Mathematics, Rephlex and Power Vacuum.

The 'Wicked Drummer' EP sees EDMX turn in four floor-targeted weapons spanning U.K Garage, 2-Step, Acid, House and Breaks rife with his signature nifty synth work, multifarious rhythm-structures and taught, effective bass tones.

With this being the first of many pressings, Skrufix continue to expand their project with the next release already lined up from their very own Crane in October.

Fury and Hecla is a meeting of worlds. Named after a near mid-point between the residences of artists Fieldhead and Loscil, it explores both the familiar and the foreign. Although not a collaboration in the strictest sense, sounds were shared by each artist allowing for a sort of aural infusion between the compositions. The results are a series of fragments and quotes that appear and reappear - sometimes in ghostly form - throughout each artist's tracks.

This summer, OL reemerges from the hazy Moscow sun to deliver yet another stunning display of his production chops on the Save and ProtectEP, out September 2013 on Loveless Records. The EP also includes four big remixes from Koloah, Slava, Hesk, and Wheez-ie.
Hot on the heels of his critically lauded collaboration with Yoin on Fine Grains and a hot-as-hell mix for Fader, Save and Protect sees this exciting young Russian producer at the top of his game. The EP's four original tracks are prime examples of the beats-indebted, slo-mo footwork that OL is best known for. Woozy, sun-drenched synths envelop scattered 808 beats and sultry vocal samples throughout OL's originals. It's fresh, chilled-out stuff, and as Fader said themselves, OL's beats 'hang in the air like puffs of smoke'.

Closing Save and Protect are remixes from four hotly tipped bass producers - Koloah, Slava, Hesk, and Wheez-ie. While these reinterpretations tend to stay within the laidback territory of the originals, each artist takes their turn at playing with tempo and tension.

The EP's title track has been floating around the net for a while now, earning nods of support from the likes of Earmilk and Finest Ego. It has been featured XLR8R, Mixmag, and BBC Radio 1's B. Traits has been rinsing the life out of the track, as well as Koloah's remix in recent weeks. Hinter Colo stecken die beiden Londoner Produzenten Ben
und Nick, die sich im zarten Alter von 17 während ihres
Studiums der Musiktechnologie kennenlernten und als Act
namens Transonic Storm mit Tracks wie - Boys will be
trousers' (für die Ewigkeit konserviert auf MySpace) ihre
ersten gemeinsamen Geh- oder wohl eher Gabbaversuche
unternahmen. Mit dem Alter kam die Einsicht und nun ihre
erste Single unter neuem Namen auf Ki Records: - Holidays'.
Und es ist wirklich ein bisschen Urlaub für die Ohren, was
die beiden da gebastelt haben. Keine Spur mehr von Happy
Hardcore.
Auf der A-Seite lädt der Original-Track Holidays zur sanften
Reise - ein Downtempo-Track mit mystischen Vocals, die
sich über den kompletten Song erstrecken um den
perkussiven Rhythmus zu untermalen. Durch eine raue
Soundästhetik und verträumte Synthchords gewinnt Holidays
an Tiefe - und die Hörer einen ziemlich guten Eindruck
davon, was ihnen auf dem Debütalbum des Londoner Duos,
das bei Ki Records erscheint, im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes
blühen wird.
Auf der B-Seite legt dann unser Labelveteran Christian
Löffler Hand an und verpasst dem Original mit sphärischen
Klängen und knisternden Drumsounds seine eigene
Klangschrift - ohne dabei zu vergessen, noch etwas
Tanzbarkeit hinzuzufügen. Nicht nur für Fans des
Löfflerschen Schaffens ein flockiges Highlight, das vom Ohr
direkt ins Herzen wandert.

Announcing the onset of night, Driftmachine - a Berlin-based duo comprised of Andreas Gerth (Tied & Tickled Trio) and Florian Zimmer (Saroos) - have created Nocturnes, a psychoactive, dream-inducing stimulant of sorts: Evoking and maintaining a trancelike state, the duo's six-part journey into the dark was originally inspired by reading 'The Rest Is Noise' and listening to the music discussed in Alex Ross' seminal book. The resulting soundscapes, written and recorded since 2012, redefine the lines between insomnia and slumber, between wraithlike dub grooves gone awry, the dancing flicker of a slack-joint bedside lamp, and eerie electronics.

* Need For Mirrors head up Horizons 078 with the 'Food EP'. A symposium of sound that grips you from the very start. An array of brutally hard hitting elements dominate the tracks, whilst not detracting from the musicality and invention of them. With plenty of nods to the past, in particular to the golden era of tech step tunes in the late 90's - this is a modern take on a classic recipe.
* 'She' : Distorted kicks and snappy snares fuse effortlessly with squelching synths to create a monster of a track that harks back to 98'. Throwing off the shackles of minutely detailed production, this one is all about the groove.
* 'Food' : Title track 'Food' blends a big rolling sub layer with intricate drum shuffles and layered pads to bring out a slightly deeper flavour. With interesting vocal samples sprinkled around, 'Food' is a reflective yet powerful piece of music.
* 'Oscillator' : Bringing together a sharp, catchy vocal and layering it over a surging kick pattern forms the foundation for 'Oscillator'. Add in a raft of futuristic noises and edits, as well as an understated yet powerful bass, and you have the workings of a real dance floor damager.
* 'Pedestrian' : Despite the name, this is anything but pedestrian. Stripped of unnecessary elements, the track focuses around a huge bassline that rumbles throughout. Drum work that swings uncontrollably, and subtly worked pads help bulk it up, but the sheer simplistic strength of the track makes it stand out.
* Once again Need For Mirror's demonstrate his obvious talents over the course of the 4 tracks for Horizons. Uncompromising in approach yet still retaining musical elements. Full of swing, groove and energy, this is quintessential Need For Mirrors.

Sean Pineiro combines different musical elements to one stringent sound story, filled with anecdotes.Fester Bestandteil einer jeden Labelarbeit: Bei zig eigesendeten Promos Preziosen von Prüll trennen. Dass der digitale Abfalleimer kaum der adäquate Aufbewahrungsort für die Produktionen eines jungen Herren namens Sean Piñeiro ist, war Ki Records schon nach schnellem Durchskippen klar; welches Glück unser Label hatte, die Tracks überhaupt in die Finger zu bekommen, aber nicht: Denn eigentlich hatte Piñeiro nach einem abgebrochenen Studium der Anthropologie in Utrecht Jazz-Pianist werden wollen; es verschlug ihn nach New York, wo er statt dem Klavierschemel jedoch die Bank drückte - und zwar im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes - bis er sich schließlich entschloss, sein Glück beim New Yorker City College zu versuchen und dort Music Composition zu studieren. Zwei verworfene Karrieren brauchte es also, um Piñeiros 14-Track-starkes Debütalbum auf Vinyl und CD zu bringen. Ob sich auch der Titel der Platte - Saved once Twice' darauf bezieht

Having both previously released on Phuture Shock Musik, garage experimentalist's Roof Light and Lostlojic return to share the honours on a split single set for release on the Bristol label.
Always one to maintain an eclectic approach in his work, Surrey resident Roof Light returns to his forward-thinking best, offering up 'Pearl' a sultry number, where jerky beats intertwine with fragmentations of female vox that saunter through swathes of synth pads, glitchy blips, and warm dubby bass.
On the flip Lostlojic continues the regular theme of passion in his music, bouncing back with 'So Much', another R&B inflected dancefloor gem, incorporating a saccharine vocal hook over a bed of lush rhodes chords. Soulful as ever, and riding a 4/4 rhythmn just beyond the familiar 140bpm region, this tune premieres a departure from the typically cold, brooding style that the Ukraine based producer is known for, to something more suited for the warm summer nights.

The quartet's members Nicole Miglis, Trayer Tryon, Paul Giese & Zach Tetreault played together in various formations as far back as middle school, but it took until adulthood and 2012 for them to become Hundred Waters. Living under one roof meant the band had a communal mentality, yet each maintained their own distinct projects, borrowing here and there from each other. It was in interpreting a friends' music together that they discovered the power of their combination, and they quickly fell to work reorienting their lives around an album. The music they found was a beautiful blend of contradictions, mournful yet colorful, introverted yet aware, and brought the tradition of songwriting to a strange future. Initially released by their local label Elestial Sound, their self-titled debut soon became seen as the sound of Florida, drawing loose comparisons to Stereolab, Four Tet, and Bjork. The band has taken its live show around the world, touring with artists such as Grimes, Julia Holter, Alt-J & The xx.
