Having spent more than fifteen cross-genre years featuring on dance music's most prestigious imprints Blu Mar Ten are opening the doors of their own label to a host of fresh young talent emerging from the leftfield of Drum & Bass.
Blu Mar Ten Music (BMTM) is a home for the beautiful and the ugly, the elegant and the awkward, the euphoric and the melancholy. With a list of talent already lined up to deliver a rollercoaster of emotions and a desire to stand out rather than fit in BMTM is guaranteed to be a label to watch. The first release in this new chapter comes courtesy of long-time friend and collaborator Stray. Following a run of hits on Hospital Records, Critical Records, Med School, Exit, Noisia's Invisible Records and Giles Peterson's Brownswood, Stray has delivered a
single that perfectly sets the BMTM tone.
Follow You Around: Don't be deceived by the icy synths and electro breaks of Follow You Around, this is no robotic future music. Brimming with melancholy and unrequited love, Stray has created a rare and perfectly formed lesson in how to deliver emotional drum & bass.
An 808 drum track carries lamenting vocals and 80s keyboards while a groaning analogue bass underpins the whole affair. Destined to break hearts for years to come, Follow You Around is an instant classic.
Contract: In stark contrast to Follow You Around, Contract charges headlong into straight-up cyberfunk. With its threatening bass tones and
reptilian percussion Contract is punctuated with cavernous and sinister silences. As all the best horror directors understand, it's the things you don't see that unnerve you more than the things you do.

On the second piece of the 3 part edition of 'In from the Wild's album package we bring you arguably a monster piece from the album. Survival, Silent Witness and Cern's 'Tracer' could already be a predicted fave of ours for 2013! Turning heads (and decks) 360 in every club its played this is in simple terms a banger of a track - we'll leave your ears to see if they agree. On the flip with 'Apache' the duo present a clear tribute towards the inspirational early 90s feel of Foul Play's material, and to the fans who know their old school drums as much as we do; we offer no prizes for guessing which break features quite heavily across this tracks very musical but powerful trip down memory lane.Support for the album so far from: Friction (on BBC Radio 1), Laurent Garnier (on his PBB worldwide radio show), London Elektricity (on his Hospital Records Xmas podcast). Select tracks have also received wide support and praise from the likes of Calyx & Teebee, Break, Ant TC1, Nymfo (as featured on his Fabric mix), Xtrah, Youngsta, Octane, DLR, Skeptical, Artificial Intelligence, DBR UK, Basher, Mindscape, Lynx, Cern, Hybris, Ruckspin, June Miller and Gerra & Stone.

Wraetlic is a tense, at-times terrifying look into the realm of electronic music that is rarely touched by the likes of techno producers.
To hear the uncompromising sounds on this record makes one wonder what else is in store for Alex Smoke; a challenging album but
truly a gem in its expansiveness.

For Fizzmann everything was blurry at first, and only after a little while, he was able to see clearly again. But he could remember anything about the car that hit him: It was an old, rusty van driven by a child or at least a very small person wearing a blue hood. "What a miserable little hit-and-run gnome! Looks as if even dogs have to face deadly risks every time they cross a road nowadays." Fizzmann's entire body was aching terribly: his head, back, tale and in particular his paws which he raised for closer examination. "Ouch! My poor little paws." He was horror-struck by what he saw: All his four paws smashed, broken, completely useless. Never again would he be able to play the piano or pick his nose again. Overwhelmed by grief and sorrow, Fizzmann wished he was far, far away, no matter where, only far away, and then cried himself to sleep. The last thing he noticed before he fell asleep were the faint silhouettes of two men, each of them having a remarkably beautiful, big nose. For the first two remixes of her album "Meine zarten Pfoten" (released on Pampa), and to add a certain ‚familiar smell', Ada pops by at Areal with none other than DJ Koze and Superpitcher who come up with remixes that couldn't be more different, and at the same time more wonderful.

Prolific Dutch producer Roel Funcken has established himself an agile, meticulous sonic craftsman whose output has consistently been as accessible as it has innovative. Most recently, he opened for Flying Lotus and Tipper during his last US tour.
As half of the group Funckarma, he has recorded for esteemed labels including Skam, Ad Noiseam, Arcola (Warp), Isophlux, Marguerita, and others.
For Mercury Retrograde, his first release on Schematic, Funken taps into textures reminiscent of the mid '90s drum n base sub genre tech step, the lush downtempo of Bristol, and Hans Zimmer's soundtrack work.
This latest release adds to the ever evolving, rich, and inspired catalog of Funcken.

Airplay so far from DJ shox (Rinse FM) and Rob Da Bank (Radio 1), as well as KEXP (Washington, USA), WYEP (Pittsburg, USA), Black Athena (Greece), Triple R (Australia) among other international staions.

After the delectable and somewhat surprising first dishes served up on the Schmorgasbord by Appleblim & October and S-Max & Spatial in 2011, the label has been slow-cooking its next wares for maximum intensity of flavour, drafting in two chefs of wild international repute shunned from the Michelin star regime and forced into renegade culinary exploits that use food (or music) as merely a vessel for their twisted science.Al Tourettes has zapped many a taste bud in his time, bastardising the fundamental ingredients of electro, funk and techno and marinating in a glutinous psychedelia as organic as it is mechanised. Previous satisfied bellies have included Apple Pips and the soundtrack to Oscar-devouring, Portman- ravaging movie par excellence Black Swan. In the near future you can expect to find Al stimulating taste buds via the new, Fabric-backed powerhouse Houndstooth.Paradroid channels his own dietary expertise from a more intergalactic source made up largely of science-fiction and tasting much like a colour you've never seen. While a taste sensation with underlying notes of house and techno can be detected, it's a flavour grossly embellished with creatine micro-samples and MSG effects trickery. Prior to preparing this dish he was largely to be found quelling the hunger pangs of such esteemed labels as Adjunct, Snork Enterprises, Orac, Force Inc. and Boogizm. On this release, both chefs collide their styles with gusto as seemingly distant approaches rub up against each other surprisingly naturally (for such unnatural initial creations).

* Ladies, gentlemen and bass addicts, please welcome the return of the mighty DC Breaks!
* The London/Bristol duo have been in deep studio stasis since their speaker-splintering Firez EP last summer, working on a caustic cannon of new material that's going to scorch the trousers off 2013 and beyond.
* This epic double header is just the beginning; two massive tracks that will satiate to completely different sides of the dance... And remind everyone why we've exclusively signed DC Breaks in the first place.
* 'Shaman' taps into the deepest of dancefloor psyches. Referencing the ancient spiritual act of tribal shamanism, this is guaranteed to take your dancefloor to a whole new world. Igniting with an all-out stomp-charged riff, the duo thrown down the weightiest of kicks and hypnotising bass riff that swings with nagging aggression: It's a surefire way to lock heads deep into the groove before the almighty horns and spiralling psychedelia of the drop whisk everyone in a five mile radius away to facemelting worlds we never knew existed.
* 'Let It Go', meanwhile, is the ultimate switch-flipper. Here we find DC Breaks flexing their lushest of sound sets with twinkling arpeggios, heart-melting keys and a dreamy, star-gazing lead line. Dropping into a rabble-rousing half-tempo D&B/dubstep hybrid riff, it's an instant crowd pleaser. But don't go thinking this is it.... As the drop unfolds you'll soon find yourself shocking out to a full turbo-charged version of the riff. Laced with unpredictable pensive energy, this is perfect for those essential moments of agenda setting chaos!
* Two incredible dancefloor smashers from two of the scene's most talented producers.

From the label that introduced the world to Dark Sky, Blue Daisy, Romare and Alby Daniels we have the latest new rookie, feroX. The Gargoyles EP is a bad acid mix of an unhealthy 'Video Nasties' VHS tape obsession, an 808 drum machine and deft drum programming skills. feroX lays it on thick with this his warmly received Black Acre debut. Tape-hiss and analogue fuzz do their best to hold back booming 808 kicks and crunchy claps. On 'Gargoyle' a straight hypnotic 4x4 attack is the solid foundation to repetitive sinister samples. 'Critter' jumps in dubstep's grave with a lurching tribal swing and abyssal bass depth. Both intro 'goD' and outro 'Beyond' are nods to feroX psychedelic sample realm with a Hip Hop heart.* Official youtube video launch Jan 11th.* DJ Mag: 4/5 '..this is the soundtrack to a rave Leatherface just walked into; blood, guts and limbs splattered across the walls, screams in the air, as the DJ continues to play Gargoyles and Critters on repeat. Terrifyingly good."* Support : Addison Groove, Om Unit, Lefto, Commodo, Blue Daisy, Kid Kanevil.

Welcome to the Fall EP, the new release from Horizons Music, and Naibu.
*Paris' Naibu has compiled yet another masterpiece of melodic and musical offerings, creating his own world across six tracks which exhibit his natural grasp of emotion, feeling and destiny. Drum & bass, and electronic music as a whole is taking a step into the future in 2013, and this step is being led by visionaries like Naibu.
*The EP will be a vinyl release, showing the artist's and label's love of the format, and the meaningful place it has in the hearts of collectors and enthusiasts worldwide. And the EP has the feel of a collectors' item about it too. Leading off the first of the 10's, Just Like You (feat. Key) is a dreamlike, mystical affair, with the beat sliding in from afar, in turn supplementing Key's vocal. The track builds, floating and soaring over your consciousness, and making a perfect start to the EP. It is backed with Nothing Special, a title which could hardly be further from the truth. The cut has a more low-slung feel than Just Like You, with a nagging bassline and tickling, trickling effects. Piano leads the line later, the two tracks acting as a fitting opening salvo to Fall's musical mission.

NickBee kicks of 2013 with a 12' on the Horizons music remix label, following up his debut release on Horizons at the tail end of 2012 with his well received Human / Space Philosophy 12. Rush is bass driven blur of an anthem, memorable hook with Nick's distinct clatter of drums. It's a track which has rocked the floors and we are so glad to have an equally big flip to pair it with. Amoss have remixed 'Human Race' original track featuring on Internal affairs vol 2 cd. This remix has been staple in Amoss sets, and if you are fan of Amoss then you'll definitely recognize this one ;)
* Look out for much more from NickBee / Amoss in 2013. And we can announce that Internal affairs vol 3 is being readied for release too first quarter of the year.

*A. Walter White
*"UA003 Is Seven's first release on his own imprint Uprise Audio. After the extremely well received UA001 and UA002, the pressure is on for him to deliver.
After hearing 'Walter White' for the first time, it will become apparent that Seven has not only delivered with this release but also raised the bar.
*"'Walter White' is simply breathtaking. Every element of it from start to finish is perfectly crafted like a Swiss time piece, blowing the listener away with its powerful weight and dynamics.
*AA. MediEvil
*"'MediEvil' is a different species entirely. It instantly submerges the listener into a dark abyss. with haunting leads and scales captivating reinforced by intelligent beat structure. 'MediEvil' is packed full of structured bassweight and grungy mids, making it effortless to blend. UA003's flip will surely be a favourite for DJs to draw for.
*"Seven has always been know for both his quality productions and forward-thinking music, but UA003 is arguably the best addition to his back catalogue yet.
"With non-stop support from Youngsta, J:Kenzo, Ntype, Chase & Status, Skream and many other dubstep heavyweights, as well as consistent Rinse FM radio play it's safe to say Uprise Audio's latest release has cemented their position as the label to watch in 2013."

Meet Stabber, aka Stafano Tartaglini from L'Aquila, Italy. After doing nice work with LuckyBeard Records, here Stabber graces vinyl for the first time on Halo Cyan. His 'HUH!' EP is tittilating yet terrifying, a collection of razor-sharp club tracks that bring the party as much as they terrorize it. Title track 'HUH!' begins with a smattering of innocuous hi-hats and claves that quickly give way to a thick fog of Giallo-style paranoia. Voices grab your attention, leaving you to look over your shoulder before being overtaken by a wave of sinister, gleaming melodies riding twisty, mechanically precise breaks. Randomer (Hemlock, Hessle Audio) takes the original track's unnerving atmosphere and ramps up the intensity with a slamming chase scene full of subconscious whispers, pummeling snares and a relentless, strobing pulse. Matthias Zimmermann (Sound Pellegrino) closes out the A-side with a much different take on 'HUH!'; here, the sounds of the original are trapped behind a wall of icy, cascading synths being hammered away by a barrage of percussion. On the B-side, 'Chromoly' is Stabber at his most confrontational and booming, a whirlwind of sub-bass bombs and rave stabs sliced into a shape resembling (but never adhering to) trap music. Night Slugs don Girl Unit closes out the record with a seismically sub-heavy rework of 'Chromoly' that will leave any dancefloor in ruins.

As the title suggests, the music on this CD is Electric Dance Music. Or Electronic Dance music if you prefer
*The music here is presented by a brand new European imprint, set on maintaining a low profile but bringing together its favourite artists from various established labels as well as fresh new talent. All the music is made with computers as well as hardware synthesizers and effects.*This first CD compilation represents the first of 26 releases in the set! The beats range from about 130 bpm to 180 bpm. This is music for dancing and more besides.
*Some have compared it to the music of Squarepusher, Underground Resistance, Drexciya or Aphex Twin or labels such as Warp, Planet Mu & Rephlex - but this is a very rough approximation. Such subjects of comparison vary enough already, without considering the bonus intensely ambient set you will find towards the end of the album. Sterling work, bring on the next volume!

*Horizons music are proud to present the next instalment of their much anticipated Dreamthief series. As is familiar with this project the tracklist is a mix of our own artists, some new blood and some guest appearances from some familiar names. The dark and dirty sound of Horizons 2012 is heavily present, but there are tones of light, perhaps less so than Dreamthief 1 or 2.
*With tracks taken from the vinyl version on cd1 along with 6 brandnew tracks. Data's opening 'False' is a tonesetter, uneasy, quirky with it offset beats, this one has been huge as in intro to his sets. 'Stakeholder' is Dramatic + db Audio's debut on the label, definitely ones to watch after forays on V recordings, they have a huge 2013 to come. Genotype emerges on Horizons after his last drone roller on Dreamthief 2, Overlook's slows down the tempo for 'Dialogue' first dubstep track on Horizons The CD finishes with Dally's opus that is 'Pinnacle.'
*CD02 is a compilation of our recent back-catalogue, all tracks have appeared on vinyl only, and have been digitally mastered for this CD.

2012 was a standout year for instrumental grime as a swathe of new talent emerged; re-invigorating the circuit with fresh takes on sounds that drew influence from a boundary-blurring range of genres. One of the most exciting new projects to surface was the full vinyl label Coyote Records, a carefully curated platform to showcase this new and diverse generation of talent, enlisting MistaMen's Mella Dee and 3Beat Records' TS7 on a pair of standout efforts, together with serious remix pressure from Baobinga, MA1, Mr Mitch and Walton. Now well established, Coyote have released music that melds grime flavours together with elements from House, Bassline and Funky, and for their third release they look to Sheffield-based prodigy Walter Ego to provide more fire in the form of a dangerous double A side, 'Wavey' and 'Military Mind'. Whilst running his own Bad Taste imprint and dropping bombs on top labels like Unknown To The Unknown and the Ninja Tune affiliated Girls Music, Walter Ego has been turning heads with his versatile style that exudes a distinctly UK-rooted aesthetic. This vinyl-only release features two of his most upfront grime cuts, the strength of which is illustrated by the lofty selection of DJ support received, with Elijah & Skilliam, Swindle, Royal-T, Brackles, Spooky and Plastician representing both tracks in their radio shows. 'Wavey' instills instant swing and groove, with woozy arpeggiated synths effervescing restlessly over crisp first and third beat kick snare combinations. As the track breaks, the kick patterns quicken to a gallop, punching beneath a raw poleaxing main bassline that flickers with electrical hum and buzz; vibrant dancefloor-inclined weight to energize a crowd. On the flipside, 'Military Mind' maintains the buoyant approach with this one perhaps even rowdier; hyperactive synth melodies leap around dropped blocks of bass as the crackle of pirate-radio quality snares and rhythmic touches of rave whistles dance high in the mix. Its deft production and a surefire banger that, as with 'Wavey', shines as a stand-alone instrumental as well as providing some serious ammunition for MC's to lay bars on.

Alex Menzies, better known as Alex Smoke, will release a new album in February under a new name, Wraetlic. The Scottish DJ and
producer has always had a moody edge to his music, but his new LP shows him getting more introspective than ever before. The
self-titled album is a more stylistically open-ended affair than many of his past records, with IDM-inspired beats and his own broody
vocals. Much of the record is fueled by his own discontents, from personal issues to political ones. It follows a brief dry spell for
Menzies.
"The last couple of years have been annoyingly marred by health issues," he says. "I couldn't work nearly as much as I'd normally
like. I had composed Faust but had then had a long time not being able to write much, so when I could work again I suddenly felt a
new lease of life, a feeling which I hadn't had since my early days. I think the time away from working probably did me good in
hindsight.'
Wraetlic will come out on Jon Convex's label, Convex Industries. In addition to 11 original tracks from Menzies, it includes remixes
from Scuba (as SCB), Jon Convex and his Autonomic partner, dBridge. - Will Lynch, Resident Advisor

Original Cultures presents Blackjob 'Trashdub' 12", a vinyl release that compiles tracks from the original and remix EPs of the same name (available digitally). This release includes three original tracks and three remixes on vinyl complete with full colour sleeve and artwork by Paper Resistance. Featured remixers include Munich's Danny Scrilla (Cosmic Bridge, Civil Music), Bristol's Sam Binga (formerly Baobinga, Build Recordings) and Dublin's T-Woc (Alphabet Set). The 12" drops late February 2013 and comes with a free download of both the original and remix EPs in digital formats (11 tracks in total).
On side A we have three tracks of modern day dub from Blackjob, the latest project of famed Italian bass player Mannaman. The music takes inspiration from dub's Jamaican roots and its modern day offshoots and mutations. 'Rise Again' features beautiful vocals by Suz. The whole thing evokes the best of Bristol circa Massive Attack's heydays.
On side B we have three remixes that showcase dub's modern diaspora. Danny Scrilla takes Rise Again into dubstep territories, with ten-ton heavy bass and snapping snares, while Sam Binga turns the original into a meditative jungle roller. T-Woc keeps MMD in more traditional dub territories, with extra lazers.
Support for the release so far (both originals and remixes) includes airplay on Resonance FM (London, UK), Rinse FM (London, UK), Base FM (New Zealand), Beatwolf Radio (Manchester, UK), 22tracks London, Wrongtom (Tru Thoughts), Opti (Airflex Labs), Fracture (Metalheadz), LV (Hyperdub), Om Unit (Cosmic Bridge/Civil), Squarewave, Badawai (ROIR) and more. XLR8R will feature the Monolithium remix (available on the digital release) in February 2013 as a free download ahead of the 12" release.
Blackjob is the latest project from famed Italian bassist Mannaman, a musician who over the last 20 years has worked with renowned Italian artists and collectives such as the Isola Posse All Stars and Casino Royale as well as Howie B and Tim Holmes from Death In Vegas.

One alias of the multi-talented Tadd Mullinix. One part of a mind that also houses Dabrye, SK-1, Charles Manier, and halves of TNT, 2AM/FM and X2. This time round, on 'Park Days', he flexes a house side that's not been seen too often in his career of 13 years. Whether the driving groove of South Brooks, the late night drum machine jam of Argo, Creal's ever evolving scatter, or the delicate Gallup, 'Park Days' is one of those records where everyone has a different favourite. ie - a good one.
We're honoured to release this man's music. A man that continually remains out of the spotlight, yet is revered by your favourite producers for at least one of his many aliases. A man that ignores trends, hype, trickery, and just returns every now and again to nudge that bar a little bit higher than he left it last.

It's well known that throughout the 20th century, fed up with poor working conditions and racism in their home country, many American jazz musicians chose to leave the US in order to live and work in Europe. What's less well known is how their music developed and evolved during their time on the continent, and how the experience of being a musician in Europe was to shape their respective lives.
Over the years countless jazz concerts, festivals and recordings featuring American jazz musicians have taken place all over Europe, yet it's remarkable how few of these musical artifacts have been evaluated by the jazz community. We seek to assess the European experiences of the American jazzmen, with a specific focus on the progressive sounds of modal jazz and the avant garde. We examine the recordings made by those who crossed the Atlantic just to take in a short tour, as well as those who made more frequent trips, and of course those for whom Europe ultimately became their permanent place of residence.

LAB014 is the third installment of Aquatic Lab's releases from South London originator, Cluekid. Leading on from his recent 'After The
Storm' EP (LAB012), the 'Dolphin EP' is another display of Clue's well-heeled versatility and continual sonic growth, demonstrating
why his extensive back catalogue of work continues to carry such high regard.
As Cluekid's most sought after dubplate in recent times, the A-side, 'Dolphin', is simply a masterclass in stellar meditation.
Combining the bold sense of musicality of his previous releases with an expertly crafted arrangement, 'Dolphin' is certainly the epitome of Cluekid's turquoise excursions. This melodic cut is as densely composed as it is meticulously stunning, as a serene melody ebbs and flows effortlessly with an undeniably unique deep-blue aura.
The AA-side, 'Fossil', leans towards the mistier quadrants of Cluekid's sonic signature, readily articulating all of the melancholic nuances of his work's classic after hours vibes. Scattering percussion, atmospheric dispersion and deep bass all feature in this mammoth roller.Mastered at Dubplates & Mastering and cut on 180-gram vinyl, LAB014 is currently receiving DJ support from Mala, Quest, V.I.V.E.K
andChef.

Brownswood Recordings are delighted to announce the release of their sophomore album Power Punch, coming out on Brownswood Recordings on April 8, 2013. Exploring new influences from techno to electronica, the Nairobi / London based band continue to also embrace the sounds of East Africa.
The Owiny journey began back in 2009 when five London musicians, Jesse Hackett (vox / keys) Louis Hackett (bass), Sam Lewis (guitar), Chris Morphitis (bouzouki/guitar) and Tom Skinner (drums) first travelled to east Africa to record with Joseph Nyamungu, a Nyatiti master musician, and Charles Owoko, a Luo drummer.
The resulting record Owiny Sigoma Band was released in 2011 and saw the band perform at a number of top festivals including Roskilde (Denmark), WorldWide Festival (France) and Dour Festival (Belgium).
This time, Owiny Sigoma Band reversed the dynamic. The UK based musicians invited Joseph and Charles to record in London in the summer of 2012. Introduced to variety of new influences and confronted with a different recording environment, the Kenyan musicians were left invigorated. On hearing shangaan electro for the first time Charles insisted that the band played at even higher tempos. Fierce, hand-played nyiduonge drums can be heard beside Tom Skinner's dextrous stick work. Joseph's Nyatiti (a Kenyan classical instrument) is sounding at home amongst groups widening influences.
Power Punch deftly straddles continents, steering through the Luo influenced Nagalo Ni Piny Odag to acid basslines in Owiny Techno and onto the Afro pop of Harpoon Land.

o13 creates an evolving texture of music, a piercing electronic post-punk, a future that never manifested itself, spectral,
uncompromising portals of electronic dread.
For the better part of the '80s, Mark C was leading legendary New York noise band Live Skull. Among their eight releases, Live
Skull's "Bringing Home the Bait" has been deservingly referred to as the "Best Noise Rock Post Punk New Wave No Wave
Experimental Indie Emo Goth Album Ever."
Meanwhile, Stuart Argabright was sketching his sonic vision of gothic futurism in Ike Yard, the first NY group on Factory Records
America, also one of the first true purveyors of experimental, time-shifting electronic music. It is a torch that they still carry today
with a searing pyre. Stuart continued his visionary pursuit as a founding member of Death Comet Crew, Dominatrix, and Black Rain.

Machine Code return to the fore with their with their second album project, Comprising 11 tracks of hard-hitting Drum & Bass (including a collaboration with The Sect and a devastating remix by DJ Hidden), 'Under The Sun' will please die-hard fans and new recruits alike. Whilst the robotic, techno influences remain, this is very much a 'classic' Drum & Bass album - the duo's trademark machine funk fused with pummelling breaks and thunderous bass to rock dancefloors of all descriptions. From riff-led main arena smashers, to more organic, gritty rollers, 'Under The Sun' has both variety and integrity - resulting in an album with broad appeal that is sure to turn more than a few heads in the Drum & Bass world.

A man that is always thinking outside of the box and constantly turning heads with his super deep, leftfield productions is Cameron McLaren or in the world of electronic music 'Consequence'. Having done a remix for our sister label 'Warm Communications' we thought it would be fitting to wrangle a tune at a different tempo from the man on Pushing Red. 'Atrium' is a steppy affair with it's splintered kicks and shuffled snares. Warped atmospheres weave in and out of the background while bass works the chest and keeps thing interesting. 'Box Rituals' is a super deep, uplifting affair. A steady 4/4 pulsates throughout the tune while serene melodies float above keeping everything together.

Coming straight from a solar powered shipping container in Australia is this heavy twelve by Melbourne's number one sampling warrior Monkey Marc, who's mashing up Hip Hop and Dub inna down under style like no other. With the analogue filter modules in constant overdrive mode, a groove not found on any map and a bass too deep to measure, this rugged masterpiece develops a complete life of it's own. All faithfully recorded to cassette and then dubbed out to the max by disrupt - including a dub of Roots Manuva's "Who Goes There" (from his 4everevolution LP).

The master of the magnetic scrolls is back at the boombox with his second Jahtari EP, once again exploring the more rugged corners of the dub universe. On Side A 'Where Is The Time' creates a rhythmical space-time paradoxon straight away, with harmonies that stream right off a dysfunct flux capacitor module. Next up 'Persian Pulse Width' switches the tape heads into heavy current mode, driving a battery of damaged 8-bit-chips into a thermal meltdown. Side B contains two special cuts of older Tapes gems: a 12" extended dub mix of Vernon Maytone's 'Old Pan Sound' that originally came out on a now hard to find 7" on Tape's Selah Wadadda label. And an ultra-heavy, extra-crackling cassette mix of the ghostly 'Pipe Cleaner' with haunting flutes by Diggory Kenrick that recently appeared as limited 7 on Meeuw Muzak. Serious voltage banned on tape here!

Although drum & bass evolved from existing only really on dancefloors and into living and lounge rooms long ago, quality listening music with longevity and dancefloor cabability at the same time is almost impossible to find. Thankfully, there are a select few who still consider production a kraft, not commodity, and the making of music a passion that brings pleasure, not as werk. United by this ethos and a love for analogue electronic sounds, genuine artisans TRIAD spent 2012 ensconced in the studio further shaping the essence of the sonic visions they'd already shared with the world into one solid statement of intangible intent - an aural essay in long play format entitled UTOPIA.
Predominately denizens of the deeper end of drum & bass with a distinctive sound and audible pedigree in musical manipulation, Triad present Utopia as an open invitation into their world: a lush, alluring soundscape of warm bass, cosmic space, nuanced moods and articulate arrangements not actually limited to one genre.

It's that time of year again! Nang Present's the forth volume in it's Array series, showcasing a collection of the past year's highlights and surprises, including cuts from Brioski, Escort, Rayko, Space, Hiem, Toomy Disco, Sare Havlicek and many more.
Rayko kicks of proceedings with his recent debut for the label, the woozy, synth-laden groover called 'The Cave'. Brioski's 'Last Day Here' follows with it's bubbling, laid back vibe and that sultry vocal from Andrea Noce. Wonderkid James Bright steps up for remix duty on the Hiem & Roots Manuva collaboration 'DJ Culture', turning it into slo-mo dancefloor hit.
Up next, Max Essa goes to work on Escort's seminal album track 'Starlight' remixing it into an extended nu-disco anthem, perfect for those peak time transitions from big to bigger. The ever popular 'Vibe On You' by Sare Havlicek couldn't be missed, appearing here as the original album version.
French classic 'Magic Fly' by Space get's the treatment from new-kids-on-the-block Venice Beach. They deliver with a pumping, up-tempo rendition. Vogue! Watch out for their debut on the label in 20
Max Essa presents Jan Ken Po, a Nippon-inspired side project that reigns in all the joys of Tokyo life and compresses into the casual disco-funk of 'Unlimited Man'. Newcomers Tiger Cubes arrived on the label this year, and are already making waves with our fans. '2012 Thinking About You' brings together live guitars, synths and vocals for a track that feels loose, free and just lovely.
Venice Beach reappear with another cracking remix full of Parisian zest and cool, this time for Situation's rendition of Inner City's 'Good Life'. Another act new to the stable, 5 Reasons, deliver a wound-down slow jam called 'Moving On Without You' that's tight, soulful and touching. Watch out for these guys.
Deep rooted, funky nu-disco is the order of the day with Toomy Disco's 'Gamma Gamma' record. They guy never fails to disappoint with his superb arrangements and production. A beauty for the ears to behold. To finish we have New Wave group Easy M, straight out of Russia. Their motorik / synthetic musings signify the beginning of rising diversity at Nang Records, and taste of what's to come in 20

Dominique Guiot « L'oiseau de paradis » (1974)The composition of this piece was inspired by the rules of cinematic screenwriting. Indeed, the possibilities of an electroacoustic music studio are very similar to those found in the audiovisual field (particularly editing). Based on this similarity, I thought it would be interesting to compose a series of scenes, dramatic atmospheres and suddenly interrupted soundscapes. (D.G.)
Pierre Boeswillwald « Nuisances » (1971)Starting from microphone recordings of numerous sounds, the author chose not to systematically use the "best ones'. Therefore this construction always tried to refine itself whilst constantly being polluted by interferences which are nuisances. As in nature, man seeks to refine his environment but destroys it through his mistakes.
Rodolfo Caesar « Les deux saisons » (1975-1976) This piece results from instrumental improvisations: the first one with the Baschet brothers' glass organ, the second one with a frequency modulation device assembled by Bernard Dürr, who co-created the Trièdre Fertile (Fertile Triad) with Pierre Schaeffer. These were two input channels for a kind of "anecdotism" I was interested in. (R. C.)
Denis Smalley « Pentes » (1974)
The main features of the piece evoke vast landscapes, with their ascents and descents, hence the title, 'Pentes' (both French and Latin, meaning slopes, inclines, ascents). Most of the music was created by transforming instrumental sounds, but there are also synthesized sounds. However, the only recognizable sound source is the Northumbrian Pipes, whose drone is responsible for the slowly evolving harmonies out of which its haunting traditional melody appears. (D. S.)

The idea of the Traces series is to unearth from the GRM Archives short, forgotten or ignored pieces of music. This second volume, which gathers works prior to 1976, features the 'early' works of four composers who each went on to leave a unique trail in music. In addition to reflecting the extraordinary vitality of the musical experimentation of bygone times, Traces aims to reactivate the audibility to such pieces, some of which have never been released before.

Blue Hawaii, Arbutus Records and many of their Montreal counter- parts all began with the same breath in early 2010. To date Blue Hawaii has released an 8 song EP: in May of that year, Blooming Summer (Arbutus Records 2010) was recorded following the pair's travels in Central America. It frames a time of warmth and novelty, featuring dense female harmonies, tape saturated synths, guitars and drum machines. Eventually Ra- returned to her role in BRAIDS, touring constantly, while Ag- moved to Europe, treading deeper into dance music, electronics, and production. The two decided to make Untogether in 2012; they began recording on New Years Day in Vancouver and intermittently worked on the project until summer broke in Montreal. The music followed their winter in Canada, it became colder, more introspective. It again captured a time and place, but instead of a dense saturation of love and excitement, this record reflects the vast world of self-awareness and delicacy. It takes for its subject the question of belonging, despite overwhelming space. Musically, the production on the album is more spacious and physically it was recorded in separation. Despite this, it belongs together in its final form. It demonstrates successful creative process in a pair who composed apart, and in doing so it is a meditation on communication: how technology and art influence modern human relationships. It contains the vast space of two years passing, including watching their Montreal scene change as some launched into international success and others turned deeper inwards. Here, the album finds the conflict of separation/belonging to one's self and community. The duo notice that throughout the changing social and personal landscape which is one's twenties, these divided notions and people somehow stay together. Even the name Blue Hawaii suggests a kind of melancholic, jaded paradise, but a paradise afterall. It is because - or perhaps in spite of - these disjointed intersections that the record is called Untogether.

Macabre Unit Vinyl drops it's fourth press after the tearing double A-sider from Demon and DCullt back in November, and for this one
highly acclaimed master of the dark arts Biome unleashes 3 slabs of soundsystem punishing construction. A trio of very different
tracks again prove his ability to push the boundaries in a area often oversaturated with "stale" and unoriginal ideas.
Black Widow is a Youngsta favourite, led by hypnotic, rattling drums; tribal, hard hitting and again showing Biome's versatility within
the 140 bracket. Rips and growls leap out unexpectedly from the scuttling percussion, sucking you in to listen more intently. Certainly
different, but definately infectious. Straight bass roller! Quasar creeps in tentatively; moody blips tease amongst a subterrainean
undercurrent. It swings into action, skippy and high energy with spluttering electro stabs jutting out from a pulsating, bubbling low
end. As it progresses it's shaken up by those infamous, twisted Biome edits. One for the skankers Mystery is a stripped back,
minimal affair, deadly in its precision; spacious and menacing. Serious eyes down business, perfectly poised
plodding low end, broken by mutant, contorted snarls.
A superbly rounded EP

In the best traditions of Blood On The Tracks or Here, My Dear, Lucas delivers an artistic triumph based on the highly personal back story of a relationship's demise. With trademark versatility and skill, he again offers a technicolour masterpiece of international alt-pop, blending afrobeat tinged electro-rock, soaring symphonic ballads and stuttering Amazonian-reggaeton with head-nodding breakbeats and horn-led ska.

Following the recent announcement that Richard Hawley has been shortlisted in the 'British Male Solo Artist' category at this year's BRIT Awards, on 25 February Parlophone Records release Don't Stare At The Sun; the fourth and final single from Hawley's remarkable seventh album, Standing At The Sky's Edge. One of the more reflective tracks from the album, Don't Stare At The Sun is a keynote performance suffused with a sense of cosmic serenity. It covers a huge distance: a meditation that took inspiration from - on one hand - a woozy morning shared by young son and sleep-deprived father flying a kite in the park and - on the other - the fate that met Isaac Newton when he decided to stare into the sun. 'He burnt the retinas in his eyes,' explains Hawley, 'so that, from that moment on, everything he saw was gold.'Don't Stare At The Sun will be available 10" vinyl (as part of the Richard Hawley Singles Club) and as a Download, with both formats featuring an amazing new version of Run For You (originally on Lowedges), titled "version two".

Too much too soon is a vocal track with swedissh vocalist Little Jinder. It has a slight rock/pop feel to it with rythm guitars and distorted lead guitars in the chorus.

Many critics regard Dave Brubeck's Carnegie Hall concert from February 1963 as his greatest ever live appearance. But who can really determine that For no one - apart from Brubeck himself - would have seen and heard his conservatively estimated 12,000 concerts.
Although the twelve titles had already been released on LPs that had been recorded in the studio, these records were certainly not known to all those in the audience. In between the numbers on each LP, Brubeck made little 'advertising spots' in short comments, but with such charm and wit that one really cannot be angry with him.
The concert programme begins with "St. Louis Blues" and ends with "Take Five". Luckily, the solos are distributed among all the musicians, so that Paul Desmond and Joe Morello - whose prowess on this evening can only be called 'amazingly good' - justifiably received enthusiastic applause from both the audience and us alike. "Castilian Drums" demonstrates Morello's wealth of ideas and his grandiose feeling for rhythm; though short, Paul Desmond's solos ("Southern Scene" is a good example!) are compelling, highly melodic, lyrical and possess a unique tone - as such they are immediately recognisable.
How fortunate that the twelve brilliantly improvised numbers are now available once again on vinyl, having been recorded live at the legendary Carnegie Hall 60 years ago.

Inspired by reggae, sound system culture and the myriad of musical styles influenced by Jamaican music old and new, The Lions' sound is firmly placed in soul music.
"All the guys in The Lions grew up on classic Jamaican records so since we began we have wanted to give our records that same edge and roughness that we grew up hearing on LPs by The Upsetters, Soul Syndicate, The Rockers Band and Roots Radics. The rhythm section was all recorded to tape, the Hammond buzzed a little, fuses blew and good mistakes were left in. We basically made the dusty reggae soul LP WE have been wanting to hear for years." - Dan Ubick (producer)
The band draws together a dozen or so of LA's elite reggae and soul forerunners who loosely coalesced as The Lions in 2007. Members of the legendary ska band Hepcat, Deston Berry and Alex Désert, form half of the vocal team, and the latter also has a successful career on screen, including roles in the films Swingers and High Fidelity. The other half is the sweet falsetto of Malik Moore and DJ stylings of Black Shakespeare, the charismatic cousin of Robbie Shakespeare (of Sly & Robbie fame) and co-runner of the i&i Sound System, a customized ice cream sound system van, featured on the album cover.

Deekline & Ed Solo step up with their debut LP, the
insanely eclectic, genre-defying, zeitgeist-defining
Bounce 'N' Shake. Some albums are for
introspective listening, others for putting on in the
background while you do the housework or
homework. This one is for dropping on the
turntables when you've just opened the doors on
the hottest house party in town and need to get the
evening started with a boom.
Rifling through booty bass, jungle, soul, breaks,
dubstep, drumstep and drum 'n' bass with the kind
of assurance one might expect from DJs who have
sent bodies flying round the room at club venues
across the globe for more than a decade, the UK
production duo drop a no-nonsense selection of
bass music anthems to get your hands in the air as
the low-end frequencies move your derriere. This
one is the very definition of all killer, no filler: a
boisterous, brazen and occasionally barmy trip into
the world according to Deekline & Ed Solo. An
antidote to chin-stroking hipster beats that are about
as likely to get anyone on the dancefloor as Jesus is
to be elected....

After 20 superb 12' single releases over five and half years in the game, UK label, 2nd Drop, is proud to present its first compilation,
Future Foundations, featuring a mixture of established artists who have graced the label previously, alongside a handful of exciting
new acts generating some serious hype on the scene right now.
This compilation is the first of many that will bear the Future Foundations title. We have assigned each 12' with a number,
'Foundation 1, Foundation 2' and so on, viewing these chunks of superb music as the foundations of an on-going, multi-layered aural
concept that will document the rich and varied output of the label and its artists for the foreseeable future.
The compilation presents eight exclusive tracks that sleekly demonstrate the quality, variety and depth of sounds the label has come
to be known for; new sounds from familiar faces begins with the deep, lush techno/house of Youandewan, then a beautiful torch song
from LV & Dan Bowskill, followed by Pedestrian's synth-funk houser and the textured techno of Djrum, terminating with a creeping
leviathan from South London Ordnance.
The first artist making his debut on 2nd Drop is Manchester's Alex Coulton with his stuttering techno machinations, followed swiftly
by Last Magpie who presents a superb number that shifts, skanks and weaves throughout, frantically culminating in the balls-out juke
of Brighton's Manni Dee & Deft.
And finally, we wanted the artwork to be something special, timeless and iconic. We were lucky enough to stumble across the bold
abstractions of Adam Daily, an artist from Philadelphia, who now lives in New York State and exhibits frequently and widely. Adam
likes to produce big, bold and beautiful pieces, bursting with colour and vibrancy, working big geometric shapes via painting,
photography, collage and digital techniques. We think he's a badman! http://adam-daily.com/

Osiris Music uk's latest release comes from Killawatt, who steps up to deliver a jarring pair of tracks which further blur the boundaries
of techno and bass music. Counting the likes of Amon Tobin, Eskmo, Marcell Dettman, Regis and Mika Vainio as his influences,
Killawatt never allows his production concepts to stagnate the increasing techno-hybrid presence in his beats.
Kicking off with 'Press On', a 4x4 backbone propels the tune with assistance from a sonically punishing kick and bass stabs. It's a
largely percussive affair which should please fans of techno as well as bass music heads. Don't let the intro of the flip 'Tantra' fool
you - the dreamy, floating intro soon makes way for an intense bassline and tribal percussion.
Killawatt's music has been supported by the likes of Skream and Benga on BBC Radio 1, J:Kenzo on 1xtra, Hatcha on Kiss FM as
well as Mala, Joe Nice, Youngsta, Distance and N-Type on their legendary Rinse FM segments. He's also a busy DJ, gracing the
decks of events and clubs all around the UK including FWD, Cable, Corsica Studios and Vagabondz as well as international bookings
cropping up as far afield as the USA, Sweden, Germany, Belgium, Croatia, Slovenia and Holland.

'EP3: Tusk Dance' opens with 'Session', an incantation that celebrates the joy of making music. 'Bomptious' sees Mo in tongue-in-cheek Casanova mode, making up words as he goes along over a trademark loose hip hop groove. If it wasn't already clear, title track 'Tusk Dance' shows that Mo K dances to a different drum: propulsive percussion and sci-fi synths offer an unusual example of what dance music can be in 2013. 'Promise' may well be the highlight here, an entrancing, hypnotic cover of a roots reggae obscurity that sounds like nothing out there. 'Laser Wind Tunnel' brings his raw dub techniques to a kinetic electric funk jam with exhilarating results. Finally, renowned producer Shafiq Husayn (ex-Sa-Ra Creative Partners) reworks 'Bomptious' in a beguiling fashion, showing us why he's a go to producer for Erykah Badu.

'Coolie Joyride' has a bit of history behind it. Long before we released Murderer by Spooky, or Over Capacity on our second release (before we were even a label) Spooky was best known for the Joyride Riddim. It was late 2005 when that was released, (a proper pirate radio anthem when that still meant something) a crucial interpretation of the iconic dancehall riddim Joyride. Coolie Joyride (or 'Coolie Dance,' as it was known) was basically the sequel, another harsh blast of dancehall grime in the midst of everything, battered by every grime DJ worth his salt. But it never came out. Spooky lost the files, the vinyl never happened. A couple of years later, we begged him to find them, he couldn't. All we had was a low bitrate mp3 and a load of old sets with it in, taunting us. Without wanting to appropri- ate Ruff Sqwad, a white label classic that never was.
Then a couple of months ago, Spooky got in touch, he'd found the parts, rebuilt the beat and sent it over. There it was, the .wav. So we had to release it.
On the flip there's another couple of bits of brutality. 'Electric Fence' is a nod to the classic Slew Dem sound, neck-snapping snares and harsh blasts of bass, gunshots, not much else. 'Rhythm & Slags Pt.2' is a sequel of sorts to the Darq E Freaker tune on our Quadrant release, Spooky tearing fragments of it apart and making something else altogether.

Dutch producers Mindmapper & Fre4knc team up to deliver the 'Martial Manners' EP in celebration of Translation Recordings' tenth vinyl release, which comes on a visually stunning piece of crystal & transparent white vinyl! Up first is 'Collessius,' whose heavy-rolling bassline rushes in with the
force of a tsunami, leaving a wake of dancefloor destruction in its path. 'Shutter Angel' is a futuristic track where tight, snappy breakbeats slingshot back and forth between an electrifying bassline that surges across the airwaves like a beam of focused energy. Mindmapper & Fre4knc
delve into darker territories on 'Fenryr,' whose gritty atmospherics and subterranean low
frequencies deliver a unique and immersive listening experience. They close the EP on a deep, meditative note with 'Mind of Steel' (digital only) where drum edits slice through growling bass riffs with blade-like precision. The 'Martial Manners' EP strikes the perfect balance between dancefloor and experimental to carry on Translation Recordings' ongoing mission to bridge audiences with quality music that can be enjoyed in all listening environments.
Our final release of 2012 is a succession of ambient trips beautifully crafted by Paul Mitchell.

Rainer Veil are Liam Morley and Dan Valentine, two friends who met while studying contemporary music in the north of England. The pair began improvising and making drones in a dark basement before incorporating a broader palette and forming Rainer Veil as an ongoing concern last year. 'Struck' is their first EP and debut for Modern Love, following an appearance at the label Boiler Room takeover in August 2012.
The 'Struck' EP incorporates recordings made over the last year and extends from the rewired Jungle ruckus of the title track to the more emotive formation of 'Wade In' and 'Bala', through to the hazy closer 'Yield'. There's a melancholy pop pulsing at the heart of these tracks, coloured by a love of electronic mutations from UKG and Hardcore rave to House and Techno, most evident in the unusual recording process undertaken while constructing the EP. Each track was re-worked from radically different first drafts, often starting life as more recognisable and structured songs before being dismantled into more abstract shapes: percussion degraded and layered, vocals fed through analog delays, samples reworked at the wrong speed and re-sampled to tape for added warmth: the narrative all mixed up.

Soft Focus is a collaboration of Jimi Tenor , Lary7 and Mia Theodoratus.
The album was recorded in NYC, at Lary7´s legendary all-analogue studio Plastikville. Lary7 is a collector of historical synthesizers and percussion instruments that are extensively used in the making of this album.
Mia Theodoratus lays down a hypnotic harp foundation on the compositions and Jimi Tenor caps them with exotic flute melodies. Soft Focus is evocative of the early Moondog albums. This record is for the hardcore avant-garde fans.

Once in a while, something comes along that really grabs your attention, makes you take notice and after a time you grow to love it. Very rarely does something come along that you can call a Masterpiece.

ASC graces us with his second offering on Pushing Red and one of the strongest releases yet. A fantastic follow up to his debut
on the label and one that shows his versatility and strength for techno. 'Proton' starts off with chest thumping kicks and a clever
undulating bassline as in true ASC fashion. Blips & bleeps weave in and out of the background before the snare drops in to take the
track onwards. Will do damage on any dancefloor. 'Electron' is another deep techno piece. A solid 4/4 keeps the momentum strong
with pulsating bass and smooth melodies. Body and mind music

Bandshell makes music akin to impenetrably complex puzzles. With a rhythmically intricate style both coarse & strikingly individual his curious constructions have seemingly little regard for the constraints of the dance floor. The second track on the EP, 'Perc,' is featured on Ben UFO's Fabriclive 67.

2012 has been a fulfilling year for IM:Ltd and with the sonic summer being definitively over,
the French based label gets back moodier than ever with 'Junction 12', a collection of 6
meticulously picked Drum & Bass tracks from some of the hottest talents on board that
comes in the form of a 3x12inch vinyl series.
Disc 1 sees Berlin producer Es.tereo going back to some of his darker playgrounds with
'Junction 12', an autonomic influenced stepper forged on obsessive robotic vocals and
industrial klanks. On the B side, French techstep veterans Kantyze deliver a surprisingly
uncluttered roller named 'Tough Breaker'. Simple & efficient.
With releases on labels such as Goldie's legendary imprint Metalheadz , 2012 has been a
wealthy year as well for Mortem as he returns to IM:Ltd with 'Converter', another brilliant

Big Riddim Recordings was created in 2008 by AK1200, who had previously worked with well known UK drum and bass labels, Suburban Base and Moving Shadow. The label started out as a platform for AK to continue with his quest of discovering new talent and promoting the sounds of DnB to anyone within reach.
Distributed by Cygnus Music and Triple Vision, Big Riddim and Big Riddim VIP, respectavely have had several releases, featuring artists such as Tech Itch, Kemal, Evol Intent, Muffler, The Clique, Junior Reid, Digital, Zardonic, Genr8, NC17, and many others, including AK and W.P.L himself.
In 2011, AK expanded the label, and welcomed partner Giulio Ascoli aka W.P.L, from Italy.
Together they remodeled the company, and have created a very aggressive campaign for the global sustenance of Drum and Bass music in the future.

Russia based DJ, producer and promoter Nelver has been active in drum & bass since 2004 getting support from the likes of Netsky, Komatic and Stunna. just to name a few. For the 27th vinyl instalment of Celsius Recordings he delivers two outstanding tracks with a signature Celsius sound!
'Back To The Past' is an uplifting slice of liquid drum & bass. The tingling piano's and arpeggiated synths give it a dreamy sound while the snappy, well balanced drums will definitely make the crowd move their feet.
The title track of the EP has a more melancholic feel to it: lovely string work and some deep bass play make it a track with soulful undertones and plenty of gentle liquid vibes. It rounds things off in style perfectly for this EP.

My bare-skin Balearic brethren left stranded in a supermarket with personnel from The Arrowhead Project and zealots reciting passages from the Second Epistle of Peter and the Revelation of St John, I beg you .. do not despair. It may sound hackneyed and bland, but with Sun Papa you can expect the unexpected. We'll give you one clue : most things find their origin in some new synthetic plastic miracle. But rest assured, 'Brume' will offer you the club culture without the club and some avant-garde without the mental masturbation. It bears the unmistakable stigmata of that euphoric appeal that characterizes authentic fan appreciation, unburdened by pedantic cliches or stylistic references, probing ceaselessly for unexplored turns at an incredible speed. But you're right, she's gone, and I'm left, unabashed, laconic, and with plenty of tape delay. Am I dreaming or am I awake

Revolution Recordings return for the New Year with two brand new tracks from Ukrainian producers Sunchase and Nickbee. First up on the release is the epic 'Life Simulator'. Ghostly atmospherics and resonating Sitars alongside some tribal percussion establishes the tone. When this one drops, it drops hard. Deep, low end sub bass combined with twisted, raw sounding leads are the key characteristics here, optimized for a unique journey into the deeper side of Drum and Bass.Next up we have 'Full HD' with its dreamy laidback introduction and spine tingling vocals all build to a crescendo of hard hitting Kicks, Snares and warped Bass lines. It is clear to see Sunchase and Nickbee are not only extremely gifted producers but both are at the cutting edge of modern day Electronic music. Seriously head nodding stuff! A must for anyone who likes their D&B that little bit deeper.

Tangent is an electronic music project which combines electronics with acoustic instruments in a highly contrasting manner.
The debut album '1 mk 2' has just been finished and Tangent is proud to release this on Mindtrick records.
'1 mk 2' is inspired by the birth of our universe with all its violence and beauty.
The music takes the audience on a journey through sonic fields that never seem to end. Matter is formed and collapsed at the same time, while a new universe is created on the ashes of a previous one, like '1 mk 2' is based upon Tangent's promo '1'.
Always searching for the best quality of music, Tangent constantly pushes the boundaries of sound and music. Tangent is still finding new and creative ways of working with sound within the field of electronic music.

The first release on Project Squared in a year, 'Make Your Mess' is a three track EP by Melbourne's Craig McWhinney. Craig has been making music for years and releasing since the late 2000s on Melbourne labels such as Pinksilver, Melbourne Deepcast and his own Haul Music; also on labels based further afield such as Brendon Moeller's Steadfast and Speedy J's Electric Deluxe.Craig's music is Techno, but it isn't preoccupied with the 4/4, employing broken, swung and rolling drum patterns. His tracks often include melodic and harmonic elements and effects reminiscent of Dub Techno but without conforming to the pastiche template of the sub-genre.The Make Your Mess EP is composed of the core title track and two additional tracks that arose as interpretations and variations on the initial production: 'Provocation Is An Excuse' is more furious and loud, 'Disengage' is more restrained. All three are around 125 bpm and were produced in the space of a month between September and October 2012.

Fluxus is Danny Scrilla's first transmission for Civil

Scrilla in expected fine form, and takes in four
original neck snapping instrumental tracks plus two

On Fluxus Scrilla's productions run at 80-90BPM /
160-180 BPM exploiting slowfast halftime tempos
yet are seemingly engineered from the sonic
essence of '06 OG dubstep's dark sparse
dreadnought sounds, with waves of quaking bass

toiling snares. Floating chords and hypnotic

over the spacious heavyweight ruffage built for
towering stacks and pitch black rooms....

After ending last year with successful debut releases from Farkas and LAXX, Biscuit Factory Records returns with its first release of 2013. The first of a two part release sees established Bournemouth based producers, Genetix, bring their sound to the imprint. The A side is Goin' In. An eerie intro, layered with vocals, quickly leads into an unsuspecting drop. Deep, sub low basslines pulsate throughout with perfectly placed melodic stabs giving the track its undeniable presence in any club. This is Dubstep in its purest form.Mindrise on the flip maintains the moody and sinister feel to this release. Rolling drums and bongos come in straight from the start, leading into a drop that will get you drawing for your best tribal skank. Genetix excellently demonstrate their ability to produce a track that combines both the vintage bass-led sound, along with fresh and crisp percussion.Available as a digital bonus track, 24/7 Reflex is another deep and dark track that oozes with the original half-step sound. Again, Genetix effortlessly merge tribal sounding drums and bongos along with raw, aggressive synths. All three tracks firmly cement the continuing intention and ethos of the label; to keep pushing good quality underground music into an ever evolving scene. They have all being receiving massive support from key DJ's within the last few months. Featured in Walsh's and N Type's sets, they have quickly become sought after tracks by many other producers and DJ's alike. Support also coming from Hatcha (KISS FM, Sin City Records), Skream & Benga (BBC Radio One) and Youngsta (Tempa, Rinse FM).

The third release on Sonic Router Records is a self-titled ten track LP from the shady producer, Hav Lyfe. Honestly, it feels like the kind of project we started the label to house: a completely individual 32 minutes of roughly spun, improvised tracks that perfectly captures a flurry of Hav's creativity. 10 tracks long the album is composed out of his trademark raw, textural sketches that sometimes get strung over the top of brooding crunched out rhythms or end up finding an internal rhythm within the distorted loops and folds of sound.
"I don't have much," he admits when asked about his production processes. "I work on an old Pentium and record straight to this little mp3 player I've got. It ain't much, but it's cheap and sounds weird and looks great...;"
Whilst his (lack of) equipment might define how the audio sounds, there's a real honesty and directness present in the material - like on 'Civivic' where Hav draws out this time stretched drum loop that feels like it could go on forever, or on 'Dion2Cool' and 'Mond' where he just bluntly repeats the main phrase stoically, because he can. The Hav Lyfe album is a collection of these kinds of short expressions; a hypnotic headphone record that really manages to draw you in to his way of thinking.

Now he's getting ready for his first release on the Fokuz imprint and delivers two great tracks for this 12''. The A side 'Hold On' has an epic drop and involves some great synth work, some powerfull liquid action going on here..The flipside 'Never Again' is the perfect closer to this EP. It has a catchy piano riff and smooth chords, it will set dancefloors on fire while the occasional vocal snippet adds an element of intrigue to the track.

In a year that has seen the label grow from infancy to an outlet receiving acclaim far beyond its years; Narratives has found its way into the record boxes of the scenes elite including Rockwell, Friction, Teebee, Loxy & Marcus Intalex to name a few and whilst maintaining the 170 bpm tempo, has caught the attention of other genres by ways of DJ's Laurent Garnier, Kuedo, and Rob Da Bank. The previous single closed 2012 on a high and saw the label earning Single of the Year awards (Everyday Junglist), a place in BBC Radio 1's Drum and Bass 2012 round up, and the blessing of pioneer Goldie who described Narratives Music as 'This is art'.Narratives Music marks its first year as a label with release number four and with it, the first piece of original music to grace the label from an artist other than label owners Blocks and Escher. The young talent Overlook steps up to deliver a track capturing the very ethos of the label and continues from where Narratives 003 left off. Cinematic soundscapes give way to a rhythm work out that nods to the works of Photek and Source Direct but drags and kicks those sounds into the future. Relentless and unnerving this one never stays still, progressing and developing for what seems a super short 7 minutes.Blocks and Escher retake the reigns for the flip side and remind us that this label will never be pigeon holed, it wants to surprise. 'Embers' unleashes again the emotive keys and melancholic synths revealed previously in this pairs music but carries a weight and character that takes it far beyond shoe gazing ambient. It feels like a track pulling against the chains of DnB and as a contrast to the other side of the single, leaves the listener in wonder of where the label is heading next.Mixmag D&B Single of the Month - March 2013.Teebee - 'I love how they don't give a fuck about fitting the norm Refreshing. The first vinyl slab of Capital Bass imprint comes in form of 10" white-label from an incognito artist.
A-side is a dark tech-bass track. What does really make it stand out is that driving analog bassline chord: you can easily imagine yourself dancing your ass off to it at some obscure warehouse party. B-side is a lighter affair with dubby atmospheric chords and pitch shifted vocal cuts.

"The spores of TG breaking out all over. An Alternative bloodline of electronic music; as if interbreeding of Chicago and Industrial resulted in sleeper cells entering a long gestation all over the world. Genesis' postal network as the carrier."
20 Jazz Funk Greats
And so Public Information splashes into 2013 with an almighty throb, pulse-tone generators at the ready. This is the debut record of malformed electronic-pop and modular fury from from Chicago two-piece Acteurs. From the chest-rattling kick of the opening track to the radon hailstorm of dub-techno epic "Freezing Fog" it's clear that the pair, Jeremy Lemos and Brian Case know their way around a mixing desk. Both have long, immaculate CVs with the cream of the U.S. alternative scene, and here they stretch the studio to its limit.
Acteurs: proponents of bass to make systems quiver, drums that punch the gloom, electronics to scythe and screech into darkest night - a psychedelic overload.
Acteurs: purveyors of pop-not-pop...itchy Cluster tones...frazzled Factory keys...LCD oscillations...NEU-motorik thrust...Argabright playgrounds... repetition, repetition, repetition...
Dream an Acteurs dream. Sodium streetlights, grey smoke. Chromium staircases and black glass buildings. Acid rains. Cyberpunk racers. Dead TV channels. Amped-out brains. Come join their future-primitive world of stark and brutal groove, metallic avant-pop and precise mechanical funk.

679 Recordings
12' Vinyl Release Date: February 4th 2013
Vinyl EP
"His second album is simply beautiful, awash with delicate noises and yearning melancholy. We're willing to bet he wins this year's Mercury Music Prize." - NME
Fryars is the musical brainchild of London-based 22 year old Benjamin Garrett. First emerging as a teenager with a highly acclaimed set of self-released bedroom recordings that quickly picked up fans from Kanye to Depeche Mode.
Returning in October 2012 Fryars has set out his stall as one of the names to watch for next year with the romantically bleak but beautiful electronic pop of 'Love So Cold'. Now 'In My Arms' gives us a hint of what's to come in his forthcoming album: a darkly romantic vision that combines the harmonies and melodies of 70s California refracted through the prism of a crisply cutting edge London future forward production, a bass culture Beach Boys ballad that points the way towards what's sure to be one of the most bewitching and beautiful albums of the next year.
'In My Arms' will be available as a limited edition vinyl EP with artwork by Davy Evans.

You Are Eternity' is the third album to be released on Stroboscopic Artefacts and comes from two of the minds who have shaped the label since its earliest days: Dadub. Recorded over a period of two years, but containing fragments and ideas that stretch back a decade 'You Are Eternity' has been mixed together to form a continuous piece rather than twelve discreet tracks. The effect An immersive journey that encompasses the descriptors brutal, ferocious, ambient and aqueous. The album title hints at the almost spiritual origins of the album, Dadub's search for music that goes further, that spreads away from the confines of the time and place in which we find ourselves, music that seeps into the cavern of the eternal. Tucked into 'Vibration', the very first track, is a sample of the Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti. He leans close and says: Music is a spiritual gift, and those who misuse it, die young. Sage words. 'You Are Eternity' is a record that refuses to take any chances, Dadub are clearly producers intent on being around for quite some time. Vital Sales Points:

'All my art is based on living not doing art. Just on experiencing life in many many different aspects' the musician Hans-Joachim Roedelius explains in the marvelous BBC 4 Documentation - Krautrock - the Rebirth of Germany'.
Together with the German/Swiss producer Dieter Moebius he been Cluster for over three decades - a band that is beside Kraftwerk, Neu!, Can, Tangerine Dream, and Faust a keyfigure of the so called German Krautrock movement in the 1970s.
His declaration on what his art is based does not only show that the German pianist and composer filters his lifetime into music. It also explains why all his art stays modern and unique till today - because it does nothing else then transforming the symptoms of the time into sound arrangements that are guided by an individual sensuality that totally avoids any kind of musical stereotype.
The starting point of his career was the - The Zodiak Free Arts Lap', a short-lived but highly influential experimental live music venue, founded in West Berlin in late 1967 by Roedelius and the German artist Conrad Schnitzler.
Here he met his former partner in crime Dieter Moebius for the first time while listening to free jazz, psychedelic rock, and avant-garde sounds played by artists such as Tangerine Dream or Ash Ra Temple.
With Tangerine Dream member Conrad Schnitzler they formed Kluster and recorded three albums, which feature guitars, percussion, organ, cello with an abundance of sound processing devices to create extraordinary electronic music - gloomy, industrial, and nightmarishly unnerving.
After Schnitzler left the trio they both continue to work under the moniker Cluster in order to invent relaxed, minimal electronic music that later get world-famous under the term ambient. Beside the work as Cluster they also recorded with the former Kraftwerk member Michael Rother under the alias Harmonia, that later included British ambient music artist Brain Eno.
In 1976 the trio Harmonia disbanded but Cluster never stopped their creativ output till their official split in November 2010. Beside making music with others like recently with the Düsseldorf based producer Stefan Schneider for the album - Stunden', Roedelius recorded countless of solo albums like - Durch die Wüste', - Selbstporträt', or - Wenn Der Südwind Weht'. Many of them are moody new classic and ambient strokes of a genuis who got a real unique music style: melodic piano and other acoustic instruments played with a sharp tinge of electronics.
Mule Musiq now proudly presents eleven unreleased compositions by Roedelius produced between 1990 and 2001. All of them are pearls of electronic deepness that show another side of the man that lives in the little Lower Austrian town Baden.
His famouse ultra sweet piano melodies can be heard - but they are not the centre of the productions. Instead a more electronic side of his genius call the tune. With a minimalistic approach he let synth melodies highfly while some droney, melancholic atmospheres enlarge in the background.
Sometimes even slow moving grooves hex the senses and his tracks get percussiv in a more avant-garde way. All his eleven arrangements are poetically and work like unreal sound fairytales that leave much space for the listeners own imagination.
Everywhere melodies are balancing and drift with no end or beginning in a cloud of synthetic sounds that sound so modern that it is hard to believe that their creator is already 78 years old.
But age does not matter if you listen to your heart. Hans-Joachim Roedelius always did and his musical notions seem to reflect not only his unconscious soul - also the soul of the time he been living in. Between 1971 and 2001 it must have been a introverted meditative one in which he dived deep into his electronic machines to pump out of them some timeless music that stays contemporary even if the times are changing.
P.S.: The album artwork comes from Emi Winter - an artist from Oaxaca/Mexiko. Her paintings point the observer towards the glamorous uncertainty of today, like an illusion that appears unexpectedly and is immediately buried by a new sensation. There is anarchy and arbitrariness in her colors and stroke of the brush and she avoids following the rules of painting. An attitude towards art that is similiar to Hans-Joachim Roedelius cessation of work when he paints with sound.

Svetlana Industries follow their second EP in a year from Kelpe with what might be seen as a departure. Tropics aka Chris Ward first appeared on Planet Mu in 2011, following up two EPs with the album 'Parodia Flare'. Commended by Pitchfork for his lush soundscapes and hazy pop, what's clear with Tropics is that he listens to a lot of dance music and he cares about production values. The synth and beat programming is as competent as anything out there, and he avoids lazy indie stylings and one button Bontempi organ beats - his are crafted songs, much of the pleasure lying in his gift for dynamic arrangement, which is a joy amid rafts of 'useful' formulaically assembled house tracks. In common with the general post-financial collapse vibe there is less sunshine in this EP than before, and he's absorbed something from a year of intensive house music listening, but Chris's essential qualities remain a forward-looking wistfulness, hope beneath melancholy, something even more acutely needed now than before. Lead track 'Popup Cinema' is an ear worm. Hinging on a melancholy vocal couplet over a simple chord sequence on Rhodes, this one is all about the arrangement, building and growing the song until, over the space of six minutes, it's become a banger right under your nose. 'Invitation' is upbeat and coated in an '80s sheen, calling to mind the sunshine pop textures of John Talabot or even Phoenix, blended with the kind of electro funk feel you might find on a record by Rufus or The System, with the orchestral stabs mercifully replaced by cut up elements of Tropics' own voice. 'Ophelia' is a mini epic, a strong vocal melody combined with a crafted fully realized arrangement, the kind of thing that actually rewards repeated listening. The mood is wistful, the lyrics urging us to seize the moment, before moving into a middle section driven by analogue synths woven over a vocal wash. Finally, Kelpe's remix of 'Popup Cinema' is one of the best things he's ever done, taking on board the more organic elements in Tropics original, and combining them with his own tougher, tighter sound on the organ and the kick, chopping and scattering the vocal, before finally dropping the vocal hook 2.5 minutes into the tune. 110 BPM is in that underexploited little segment between house and hip hop, and it's a zone where Kelpe has established his own rhythmic template, overlaying that here to add new momentum to the tune.

*Footloose VIP: Amoss bring a 2012 rethink of their track Footloose from their 2011 'Spectrum EP', delivering a broodingly heavy take on the original.
*The atmospheric intro sets the stage for what is perhaps the duo's most sinister tune to date. With a quick build and the original's dub style vocal hook, the drop hits with a shattering, industrial style weight.
Booming kicks, combined with smacking snares and shuffling hi-hats sit atop of a pulsing sub whilst airy side chained effects provide a grooving movement throughout.
*With the second drop a distorted synth delivers a warehouse rave style attitude topping off this grungy slab of steppy drum & bass.
*Lost Souls: The b side to this 12" demonstrates Amoss' ability to combine breakneck drums with the atmospheric qualities of a horror film. Droning fx moulded around twisting, distorted stabs take the forefront as they envelop the surging breakbeat.
*This is a true slice of the murkiest 170bpm music around!

Clouds return to RAMP after a long hiatus in the studio to deliver their upcoming USB Islands mini-album. From the orchestral opener Cannibal Generals, to the tapped auto-tuned euphoria of I'll Be Broke, to the loose and rattling dubstep of You Go To My Head, Finland's Clouds are very much back on form.

* After years of speculation, suggestion and rumour, Braindead Entertainment is very proud to present Footsie's debut producer album, 'King Original Vol 1.' Named after his father's legendary East London reggae sound system, 'King Original Vol 1' features over 20 classic Footsie productions composed between 2004 to 20
* This is a snapshot of Grime at its most most exciting and innovative; defining Footsie as one of the most pivotal producers during its golden era. Dubstep don Skream cites Footsie's beats as a big influence on his style.
* Although the Grime soundscape may have changed, the driving drums, twisted melodies and freezing cold basslines on 'King Original Vol 1' remain as vital today as they were all those years ago, with the UK underground now revisiting these sounds, textures and rhythms and reinterpreting them into new forms.
* This is Grime riddim at its most impactful; the beats that caught Dizzee Rascal's ear and held the pirate scene in rapture. Until now, only DJ Tubby and a small handful of elite DJ's had access to tracks such as 'Arnie','Merked Again', 'Hit it' and 'Prang Boy.' Now, they're available to everyone.

*Welcome to the Fall EP, the new release from Horizons Music, and Naibu.
*The third plate is begun by the retrofuturistic Autumn Comes, with its sweeping strings and contemplative synth work, which is added to closer Wrong, which is as calming and meditative a piece of music as you are likely to find all year long, with electro-topped drums which put one in mind of classic Dope Dragon material.

*300 COPIES ONLY
*The mysterious Nomine's debut 12" for Tempa takes dubstep into altogether more tropical territories. The fluid textures and east Asian melodies of its two tracks conjure up images of a future London fried by global warming, where rising sea levels are sinking the city below the waves.
*'Searching' opens with chimes like drops falling on water, before being consumed by an oily sea of sub-bass. Metallic, syncopated percussion slides across the surface, propelling the track forward. On 'Nomine's Sound' the bass lands in pulses, building in intensity before falling away again, while disembodied voices sing in the distance.
*Although only having previously released his debut, the Jahpan EP via Dubzilla Recordings, in June this year, Nomine's tracks have swiftly become staples in the record bags of scene figureheads like Youngsta and J. Kenzo. It's not hard to tell why: although they're ethereal and drenched in melody, there's a physical pressure to these tracks that's primed to swallow a dancefloor whole. With this uncanny ability to balance melody and space with club dynamics, expect to hear much more of Nomine's name in the near future.

So the dictionary tells us, but if the word insidious bears any relation to Rene LaVice's rise to drum & bass prominence it's that it is the exact opposite. Smashing his way to the top of the game within a year with nothing but a hugely positive effect, Rene LaVice is poised to unleash his debut album on Ram Records following just a handful of releases.
*It would be foolish to think that Rene LaVice and his music weren't ready for such a bold step, though. Last year saw his tunes find a home on the playlists of tastemakers such as Annie Mac, Nick Grimshaw and MistaJam, become highlights in the sets of Ram boss Andy C amongst many of his D&B peers, top the sales charts amidst fierce competition from all manner of bass music and storm into Mixmag's top 50 tracks of the year.
*How exactly, you may ask, has a relatively new artist from Canada managed to achieve all of this in 2012 Your first listen to his debut album 'Insidious' will undoubtedly answer that.
*From the opening bars of 'So Inspired To Fail' to the closing notes of 'Absolute Monster' this LP is really a lesson in creating beautifully crafted drum & bass. 'Perfect World' and 'This Is Conflict' are prime examples of Rene's ability to put together tracks that will undoubtedly smash dancefloors.
*Throughout 'Insidious' has nothing but breezy production and genuine soul to offer the listener. 'The Way You Love Me' draws you in with subtle vocal hooks and chest-warming Reeses, 'Rude Selection' sees Rene drop the tempo and team up with Trinity Chris for a crunching, grinding slice of hip hop heavy bass music, while the album's title track is a dizzying blend of sultry vocals and Prototype Years style drum & bass.
*Drawing together classic sounds and giving them a fresh lease of life is Rene LaVice's mainstay, crafting drum & bass that manages to feel nostalgic, infused with timeless, classic intent, but always up to date with fresh production values. Rene LaVice is a producer who wears his influences on his musical sleeve and always brings them together in a new and exciting way, and his debut album is a testament to that incredible talent.

The West London-based producer's original mix adopts the full widescreen effect, cascading deep bass throbs and a trembling metallic clatter across a ponderous 2-step click. Consequence's reworking wires in some heavy-ass sub-bass transmissions and a rapid-fire hi-hat rhythm, before Jack Dixon's late-night submission takes a clockwork 4/4 tempo and bolts a springy, low-slung bassline to it, accompanied by layers of velvety synth patterns.
Crossing is an EP of uniformly consistent quality, where texture and atmosphere take the spotlight.
