Cern releases the sampler to the forthcoming album 'Terminus' on Project 51. Cern describes 'Terminus' as 'an album that takes its roots from Techstep and funk driven D&B,' going on to say 'the album reflects the inspiration gained from his long standing admiration for producers like Ed Rush & Optical, Matrix, Konflict and Source Direct', incorporating the sound they represented at a time, in his opinion, when Drum & Bass was 'at its peak'

Marlon Sterling aka Equinox cements his reputation as one of the D&B scenes most versatile, single-minded and dextrous beat manipulators on his latest in a long catalogue of brain-bending releases. The incendiary opener to a now infamous Equinox & Bailey set at Technicality in 2003 - 'Meecha' finally sees the light of day. Originally completed in 1996 on an Amiga computer, the tune has lost none of its appeal 15 years on and it's all the better for the audible crunch on the amen beats. This is one of the very best tunes from Equinoxs unreleased DAT library, and that's saying something !! 'So many people out here who make different styles of music you know - this music is something that they feel'. The repeated mantra at the opening of the flip side prepares you for an altogether different experience to what went before. Made in 2009 but with a definite nod to the oldskool style, 'Your Love's So Cold' is poignant, heartfelt D&B at its very best. The arrangement deftly builds to a beautiful swell of echoed vocals, icey-atmospherics and rolling beats and bass. Just like the A Side, this one is certain to defy fashions and trends and will be just as moving in 2024.

Renegades Of Jazz is the new solo project from German producer David Hanke aka one half of funk-duo Mash & Munkee. His tracks first started out as an experiment to try something new. David sent his first complete songs to UK producer Smoove whom within five minutes of hearing it, instantly signed Renegades Of Jazz to his new label Wass Records.

David's music is a mixture of vintage jazz sounds recorded in the middle of the last century, combined with modern break beats. "Karabine" represents the start of unique jazz sounds and is the first single release taken from the forth coming album "Hip To The Jive" to be released later this year. Karabine is an uplifting B Boy Jazz tune with an instant bass hook coupled with a tasty piano hook. Remix reinforcements come from Hungary's top-notch jam crew "The Uptown Felaz" who deliver a cracking dance floor version.

The Flipside is reserved for the hypnotic jazz-anthem "Apple Sauce" with it's infectious guitar lick. The remix is provided by Munich's Jazz & Milk Guru Dusty who shakes up the track with more Latin flavour and his unmistakable bass electronics.

This highly anticipated record marks the beginning of a new sound in the Jazz break beat scene.

How and why these two tracks got pushed so far back in the autonomic release schedule is anyones guess. These two cuts are arguably ASC's biggest to date (perhaps with the exception of 'The Touch'), and two tracks that go a long way in defining the early sound of the autonomic movement. Finally they are going to see the light of day however, news that is sure to satisfy the baying hoards of hungry autonomic devotees that have waited so long and so patiently for their release.Starkwood is about dancefloor as Autonomic has ever gotten and probably will ever get - the pounding kick drum, coupled with the rhytmical, shuffling tribal percussion is infectious and guaranteed to get heads nodding and bodies moving. Reform is on a totally different vibe altogether with its breathy vocal snippets and detroit-ish synths giving it a silky, sultry feel.

After visiting the north of bass music with the first ep 'Caterva goes up north', the french band and label I.O.T Records continue their journey from this time to southern bass music. For this new EP 'Southern' Caterva produces a track with the sounds clearly kuduro SALTA featuring MC Baal.

A two tracker of freshness from Boxcutter, aka Barry Lynn, a questing producer who was taking stylistic chances and constantly mutating his dubstep-based music, long before anyone thought it was time to start discussing 'post-dubstep'. This single precedes his new album 'The Dissolve', due out in April. 'Allele' builds from echoey drums into a tight juke-influenced drum pattern with lots of tight edits, before adding a vocal that hints at old school hardcore, wavering chords and drops, before the whole thing finally resolves into a restrained but ravey breakbeat. 'Other People' simply but effectively mixes hazy, live sounding 2-step drums with a lush bitter-sweet melody reminicent of the Drexciya offshoot TheOtherPeoplePlace, which glides subtly through a background of shimmering effects and delays.

RATVILLE is a new school dub band releasing their 1st album Dubs on the Corner in 2009, leaving serious after effects throughout the country. This time, GOTH-TRAD and DJ TUTTLE, east - west dubstep masters remixed the tracks to create a challenging piece of vinyl cut!! Remix was done by two artists, contributing to the spread of dubstep in Japan. As a host of Back To Chill releasing from UK's one and only DEEP MEDI MUSIK, GOTH-TRAD is now achieving worldwide prominence. On the other hand, leader of DUBSTEP RUDE, DJ TUTTLE is out to shake things up establishing a new label NODE with Akira Ohashi from Psycheouts G.
GOTH-TRAD's side modestly builds up till it finally rocks the floor in the latter half. May suit for outdoor performances. Heavy duty 808 type kick supporting bottom end with metal-like percussion and SEs floating in the air, DJ TUTTLE side is made for the darkest closed chambers to inhale the low frequency. This is the spearhead of dubstep made in Japan. Hands-on approach of the two made a sensational reaction with Ratvilleafs sound, pushing it to the next dimension. PUBLICRIDDIM is the Japannese independent label estalished in 2009 to hand down the forefront of the underground music scene to posterity.

LOrchestre Kanaga De Mopti is one of the best West African modern orchestras which originated from a wide range of state funding. In 1977 the Malian government-owned label Mali Kunkan released a series of LPs including this holy grail of Malian music, one of the most rare and sought after records from Mali, going for over $400 (US) on ebay. Finally this timeless classic is officially available again including fully restored artwork and audio, plus in-depth liner notes about Mali and LOrchestre Kanaga De Mopti.

In the 1960s, during the First Republic of Mali, modern orchestras were encouraged and promoted by Modibo Keitas government. Starting in 1960, Bani Jazz became the city and regions main orchestra be-fore the name changed to the Orchestre Rgional de Mopti in the wake of Malis Second Republic in 1969. At the end of 1970, the band published its first album under the name Orchestre Rgional de Mopti. This record clearly helped to define Moptis vibrant cultural heritage under the aegis of bandleader Sory Bamba. Trumpet player, flautist, traveller and songwriter, Bamba already had a strong musical experience when he took over the orchestra in 1969.

Around 1976, the Mopti orchestra became the Kanaga De Mopti, and in July of that year, after months of intense musical and cultural research in Malis capital, the orchestra visited the Radio Mali recording stu-dio in order to document its new musical evolution. Six of these songs were featured on the only album of Kanaga De Mopti released in 1977 courtesy of Mali Kunkan, an ad hoc label originating from the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Art and Culture. Stuck into the past but looking towards the future with its incredible mix of traditional and modern instruments, the Kanaga instantly touches and defines the highest levels of African music classicism.

While L-Wiz is new to Kapsize, the Swedish duo are in no way new to the dubstep scene - drawing attention with killer tracks like Girl From Codeine City and the classic Girlfriend, the production pair have been making high quality dubstep tracks since the early 2004-5 days, even launching the first ever release on Dub Police! It is with pleasure that we announce Straitjacket and 4.42 Oz find a home on Kapsize! Keeping in the spirit of Jokers own melodic productions, L-Wiz take a different angle from their previous output - pushing layer after layer of perfectly produced synth lines in harmonic syncracy. Straitjacket is the more dancefloor focussed of the two cuts, with a sleazy, low-slung take on the purple sound we all know and love at Kapsize - while keeping it heavily weighted to provide bass fans with plenty of satisfactory rumble! Flip for the equally melodic 4.42 Oz which takes a more relaxed approach in vibe, taking things in a futuristic direction while simultaneously referencing the past. Two lost classic dubs from Skream. Sweetz (2005 Flex), dating back to 2005, is really melodic and shows a significant Detroit influence, and Angry World, a cinematic and swung track in a manner most reminiscent of foundation dubstep pioneers Horsepower Productions. Both tunes hark back to the sounds formative early era, pre-Dubstep Warz. This is some real prototype riddim business, made without the need to pump-up big rooms full of upferrit ravers, yet still deadly as hell. Killer. The artwork features, at Skream's own request, a capture of the renowned Big Apple store, epicenter of the dubstep scene.

art 2 of the Vinyl Eps' featuring tracks taken from their debut album, 'Broken Silence', on their own Siren Records has been doing damage on the DJ circuit for some time now. Tracks such as 'Gumball Rally' and 'Broken Silence' have been staples in the sets of everyone from Andy C to DJ Marky to Fabio and Chase and Status, as well as the new breed of artist producers such as S.P.Y, Spor and Jubei. Over the last 10 years Universal Project are responsible for hits such as 'Vessel' on the Virus imprint, 'Haunted Dreams' on their own label Universal Project and an EP on DJ Hype's True Playaz, as well as 'Streetilfe' with DJ Friction for Advanced Recordings and many Renegade Hardware smashers such as 'Danger Chamber', 'Comin' Thru' and the Black Techno EP. The Universal Project sound is B-Boy breaks with techno elements and dubwise bass, and everything in between. Vicious Circle broke through in 2005 with their monster remix of Universal Project's 'Jackhammer' and have been destroying dancefloors ever since with their unique sound. Releases such as 'Between the Lines' and the 'Welcome to Shanktown' EP on Renegade Hardware pushed them to the forefront of the tech dnb scene. Subsequent releases on Digital Soundboy, Critical and Quarantine displayed a diverse style that has helped establish them as heavy hitters across the board whilst collaborations with high profile artists such as Chase & Status, Dom & Roland, Fierce and most recently Jubei clearly demonstrate the respect they command from their peers. After spending a lot of time in the studio together Vice and Ruxspin decided to create a new guise for their own brand of rolling future funk. Siren is the result. Both artists in their own right have toured the world from the farthest reaches of Europe to the United States and Asia, consistently destroying dancefloors and gaining a reputation as masters of their craft. The aim of this duo is to cover all styles within the scene and not be constrained by subgenres, whilst still maintaining a dancefloor ethos which is true to their UK roots.

D1 has once again come up with the goods, and delivered two brilliant old skool-influenced dancefloor tracks. 'Flood Of Emotions' featuring renowned vocalist Jenna G, showcases D1's trademark melodic sensibility, while maintaining the tough drums and pure bass pressure that makes UK bass music so exciting and impactful. Driven by a classic hardcore break, the track penetrates right through you while the uplifting melody, complimented by Jenna's vocals, washes over you beautifully. 'Bleeps To Broadway' takes similar rave influences, this time moulding them around tough, stripped down drums and futuristic bleeps. 'Bleeps To Broadway' is also accompanied by the 130 mix, which opens up the track, slowing the groove down and giving it some extra room to breathe.D1 was one of the earliest proponents of the emerging dubstep sound, and has remained one of the scene's most creative and exciting producers ever since. Responsible for a number of seminal dubstep tracks, he has been a long-time Dub Police affiliate and has had support from all of the biggest players in the scene, also releasing tracks on esteemed labels like Tempa, Soulja and Dub Files. 'The Departure' throws away the now standard build, drop, build, drop breakdown structure of drum and bass to create an intense rolling soundscape of claustrophobic out of control intensity. Not for the faint hearted or the casual listener, this is true genre pushing madness at its best. Flip it over and 'The Arrival' manages to subtly straddle the divide between influence and invention to produce a track that will find fans both within and outside of drum and bass.
