Jimi Tenor delivers another 7" on Philophon. This time he teamed up with the two glorious gospel queens Florence Adooni and Lizzy Amaliyenga from Bolgatanga/Northern Ghana. This release is a first insight into the next album by Jimi on Philophon, which will be released later the year.

Vocalize My Luv is a charmingly presented lure for love. The secret of the song is that drummer Ekow Alabi Savage's upfront high-life beat is triggering a Jimi-operated Korg MS-20 bass synth. Man and machine are melting down into a light and sportive groove, which irresistibly invites you to do some frisky aerobic moves on the 3am dancefloor. Ki'igba is a classic Frafra gospel song by Alogte Oho, completed with some jubilating flute by master Jimi.

Multi-city based label, La Dune, comes out swinging with a five track break-beat compilation sure to make its mark. Kicking off 2019 with a blissed-out and controlled high-energy throughout, the Cassée EP sees La Dune make their first steps on to wax.
From its primitively ethereal opening track 'Goma' by DJ RN through to the charged up jungle breaks of Cassettes For Kids' 'Lil' More', the full spectrum of break-beat in its modern form is both celebrated and explored. The exciting return of Sonter on La Dune brings us 'Valmara', a steady yet thunderous room-shaker that builds to an other-worldly second half. Completing the line up, label co-founder Jacques Torrance and additional label debut Native Cruise bring their own distinct break-beat inspired euphoria to the table with the Cassée EP flexing its sonic muscles and hitting us right where it feels good. The sky is the limit for this impressive emerging imprint.

This song has been a long time coming, but finally I am very proud to release this collaboration between myself, the mighty DJ Spinna (BBE, Rawkus), and Manchester's own Neo Soul songstress, Fyza. Originally we recorded it back in 2008, but this song never got released. The masters were lost in a multiple hard drive failure at my studio. Many years went by until recently I found an old drive which contained the original recording session from 2008. I contacted Vincent and Fyza and we decided to release the original version on a 7 inch vinyl, and to add a few new remixes for a digital package. Including one from Fyza's Son, Shontay. Bentley Rhythm Ace formed in Birmingham in 1996 when ex Pop Will Eat Itself bassist Richard March and DJ Michael Stokes discovered a shared love of obscure, oddball and eccentric tunes. Utilising lo-fi cut and paste sampling techniques combined with analogue synths and some wild turntable action their debut EP was picked up by Fatboy Slim's Brighton based Skint Records and released to widespread acclaim. The BRA live show added Fuzz Townshend on drums and James Atkin (ex EMF vocalist) on keyboards and the latter years of the 90s saw BRA firmly established as festival favourites with appearances at Glastonbury, Reading, V, T in the Park, Montreux Jazz and Fuji Rock amongst many others. Their irreverent approach mixed with big beats, thundering bass, wild synths and esoteric samples proved to be a hit with fans and critics alike. 1998 saw Bentley Rhythm Ace crowned 'Best Dance Act' in that year's NME awards. Their eponymous debut album was given a worldwide release after the Bentleys signed to Parlophone records and the band toured extensively in the UK, Europe, Japan, Australia and USA. As well as releasing a highly regarded DJ mix album on Ministry of Sound, and releasing a second album for Parlophone (featuring vocals from Black Grape/Ruthless Rap Assassins frontman Kermit), BRA also produced well received remixes for the Beastie Boys and Supergrass as well as soundtracking several TV shows and adverts. This "21st Birthday - Bonus Tracks Edition" of the album has been compiled by Richard March of the band and includes the original 11 track album along with 2 bonus tracks remastered and repressed to vinyl for the first time in almost two decades! * The third of the Death To Digital EPs drops hard. This one, like the first two, aims to provide a selection of distinct and varied old skool tunes, from producers with very different approaches and sounds, but very similar attitudes. Wislov just gets better with every release, and his track The Time Is Out is certain to put a smile on your face. Meanwhile, KF label stalwart Dj Deluxe FINALLY gets his KF Radio anthem 'Glorious' released, and what a wicked tune it is. Apparently the sample has something to do with wrestling, but dont let that put you off, its glorious all the same! Recent KF signee Abyss displays his rare talent for touching that sweet spot between drum and bass and jungle, that era of The Invisible Man and LTJ Bukem, when the atmosphere, bass and breaks were where it was at. Many attempt this style, but Abyss has it perfected, and Falling is like a 95 classic you have never heard until now. And of course, Shoreman, hot off his Deep Waters EP, shines super strong with Growing Stronger.

One of the top drummers in the Israeli scene, Tel-Aviv based songwriter and producer BEÃTFÓØT launches his solo project with the powerful new EP De Vibez, a fanciful gutter-glam cross between stoner-acid-pop and 90's-garage-punk. Side A contains some stunning originals alongside a surprising cover of a melancholic oldie by the legendary german singer Nico. Side B be the remixes: the first, a colorful club-driven remix by Garzen Records head honchos & electronic duo Red Axes, followed by a groovy down tempo drone version by the mesmerizing Smagghe & Cross.

Electro-dub pioneers Dreadzone were formed from the ashes of Big Audio Dynamite and over their two decade plus career have been championed by the late John Peel, signed to the legendary Creation Records and Virgin before finally securing their independence by founding their own Dubwiser record label. 'Dread Times' is their 8th studio album from the band and the 3rd release on their own label. Their old skool dread sound comes bubbling to the surface on the album and it digs deeper into their dub and reggae influences whilst still managing to keep the beats fresh and the textures electronic. Conscious lyrics, social ills, matters of the heart and mind merge with 21st century dubwise flavour.

Alongside core members Greg Dread, who produced this 12 track album, Leo Williams, Chris Compton, Earl 16 and Spee, Dread Times introduces younger blood into the mix. Newest member Bazil bringing an edge to the sonic process and Greg's son Marlon expanding the musical range further. Don Letts also returns with lyrical contributions, as does Lena Cullen on vocals for one track, with 90s ragga duo Louchie Lou and Michie One guesting on another. Recorded again at Mick Jones' Bunker Studio, arranged at Dread Central and mixed by fellow founder Tim Bran, this is classic West London Zone with an updated edge. Florian Meindl surges ahead in 2017 as he returns once more to his home base FLASH Recordings. He has been locked away in his studio and is now ready to unleash his new album 'Time Illusion'. With these album sessions Florian has created a special collection of analogue focused tracks which will be released on a double vinyl album and digitally in the Spring.

Amalgamating his array of impressive hardware, he has refined his sound and crafted a selection of tracks that demonstrate intricate knowledge and mastery of his analogue equipment. His aim was to find the right balance between musical depth and sound design while interacting with the hardware.

In anticipation for the LP release in early April, Florian has prepared a unique live set featuring a Modular System, the KORG Minilogue, effect boxes and a 909 drum machine which were used in the creation of the album and which he will be touring throughout 2017.
Electronic Beats visited him in his basement at Riverside Studios Berlin to record an exclusive live session, which you can find on Youtube and his Facebook page.

Following the recent 'Aset Forever EP' by label bosses Dusky, 17 Steps announces its next release in the form of the 'Off Peak EP' by innovative Russian duo Formally Unknown.

The three broken beat originals will be familiar to anyone who has seen label owners' Dusky DJ recently.

Lead track 'Off Peak' offsets a breakdown of deep, Detroit-nodding chords with thunderous bass, modular bleeps and broken percussion that will test the outer limits of any sound system.

On the remix, Warehouse Music's Mella Dee flips the original with 4x4 kicks, spacey pads and layered percussion that glides in and out seamlessly, providing the EP with a hazy, dubbed out techno gem.

Industrial broken beat jam 'Burnin' again blends atmospheric chords with chopped samples to create a carefully crafted leftfield trip that feels like the perfect soundtrack to an industrial How It's Made video.

Closing things off 'Arp Three' brings things to a darker, stripped back close in a panic alarm buzz of broken bass and twisted FX - with distant rave divas crackling through the mix.

Adding and connecting the bits, dots, hats and kicks once again, rtct.records invite two Italians to join forces for a shared EP. It features three tracks per artist and it's got everything from Ambient over Lo-fi House, Acid, Techno and even Garage. Both of the artists have been making music under different names for a long time now but this release marks the launch of their new monikers: Introducing DJ Chupacabra from the mountainous north of Italy and Crisco from mediterranean Sicily. This is where the Surf & Turf theme of the EP comes into play.

Starting the whole thing of, it's Jahmoni Musik label boss Belp with an epic jazz intro to LION before he flips the tune into a breakbeat driven 120 bpm belter with layers of funky-as-hell percussions, moody textures and that wonderfully dubbed out 'lion' vocal sample.

On the other side you'll find Schlachthofbronx getting a 130 bpm dub riddim going that builds up his tension with one of their far-travelled synth melodies and then plunges into a monster of a rolling bass line that satisfies all your soundsystem & low end pressure needs.

Banoffee Pies Records release their 8th addition to the original imprint with 4 drum ridden tracks from Bristol local Gallegos with his debut solo EP, 'Mad As Hell'. Our final Excursion of 2018 is one for the 'heads'. NameBrandSound provide us with two very different versions of one dancefloor destroying bruk riddim - 'A Heads Excursion'.

NameBrandSound is IG Culture and Alex Phountzi. They've been releasing music as a duo since 2014, from their debut EP on Technicolor/NinjaTune, to releases on their own Arena Yard imprint, and remixes for the likes of Blue Lab Beats, Neue Grafik and Miraa May.

The duo entered the foray as integral players in the West London broken beat scene; their individual careers dating back to the nineties and working extensively on projects such as New Sector Movements (IG Culture) and Bugz In The Attic (Alex Phountzi), amongst numerous others. Heavily associated with the infamous CoOp club nights at London's Plastic People, this year saw the launch of their own 'CoOp Presents' record label, which aims to showcase new talent in the broken beat scene and beyond, drawing in musical influences far and wide, from jungle to jazz, dancehall to soul.

'Shrunken Heads' flips an eighties classic, containing one of the biggest basslines ever laid to wax that'll be instantly recognisable to everyone and their mum. This is a sure-shot floorfiller - you know, the kind that appears twice in a lifetime... On the flip, 'BeBop' takes the same riddim and transposes the vibe to a slinkier affair, complete with jazzy stabs and soulful vocal punches - a solid five minute roller. Two grooves that are guaranteed to never leave your record bag.

Eglo Records are proud to present the second official solo album by the forward facing producer and vocalist Steve Spacek. The album, entitled 'Natural Sci-Fi' originally began production in 2005, shortly after the release of the now classic 'Spaceshift' album (which included the J-Dilla collaboration 'Dollar'), but was never completed. Over the last few years Steve has added a some tweaks and changes - including a new song and guests vocalists Oddisee and Natalie Slade - eventually finalising the project and readying it for its release in 2018. The album continues the post Spaceshift vibration of Steve's signature production style and effortless vocal delivery. Swinging spaciuosly from past to present, packed with soul, sounding as fresh and relevant today as it did when it began back in 2005.
Since the albums inception Steve has released projects with Mark Pritchard as one half of Africa Hitech on Warp, an instrumental LP as Black Pocket for his brother D-Bridge's Exit Records and a concept LP as Beat Spacek for Ninja Tune. Following a string of EP releases for Eglo over the last two years we are thrilled to finally be able to bring to you a full length release from one of the UK's most unique and talented artists.

Bleu Nuit (BN) is glad to welcome back Ghini-B — half of Nice-based duo Gabardines (BN02) — and his Over By The Corner EP on the occasion of the fourth release of the label.
With Over By The Corner, Ghini-B stays in line with Bleu Nuit's breakbeat and minimal musical identity.
On the A-side, whereas Streets Ain't Gonna Die For You (A1) drives you with its twitchy rhythmics and voice samples, Buchholzweg (A2) unveils straightforward beats and a rough kick drum.
On the B-side, MRLHT (B1) bears a similarity to the musical structure of both tracks of side A while introducing ethereal chords, whereas UK's Morning (B2) appears rather minimalist.

As one of NYC's most innovative individuals, Incienso are happy to announce Kiki Kudo's debut full length EP 'Splashing'. Operating seamlessly between the mediums of music, food and general vibes, her new release follows up the 'Mineral Sequences' mixtape on Good Morning Tapes, plus a track on Physical Therapy's allergy season compilation 'Physically Sick Vol 2'.

After starting music production just last year with one sole piece of hardware (but DJing in NYC years before), these are some of the wildest songs in time. A self-described mix of 'Nanotech Pop, Synth Jams, Kitchen Wave, and Listening Techno' - somewhere between the experimentalism and anything-goes ethos of the downtown scene, the out-there exploration of City Pop, and a world all of her own.

Berlin's Ecke Records returns with its second release this December, coming courtesy of Squallfront who offer up their two-track EP, 'Stormin''.

Ecke Records's Xantrax & Johnny Counce aka Squallfront (as the pair like to be referred to when alone in a darkened room) bring you their debut two-tracker. The artwork is the second in a series of works by Ben Fables. Each piece is handcrafted be the man himself and standing as a visual interpretation of the music itself, a theme that will continue with the label.

A-Side 'The Bells' Straddles the boundaries between Electro, Rave & UK Bass with a twisted arrangement laid out over seven-minutes via syncopated, dynamic drums, murky bass tones and choppy rave style string samples.

On the flip-side we have 'The Crack' laying focus on off-kilter, groove-step percussion and the emergence of 8-bit style chords hinting towards the deep-dystopian electronica days of old. The composition was recorded in 'the cave', an old underground wine cellar in the south of France. The distorted cracking comes from a dusty old analogue electric organ, bugging-out whilst gained the max. Playing powerful chords on the lower keys caused the inner workings & chassis of the old organ to shake profusely adding a further distinctive character to this already forward thinking production.

Squallfront's 'Stormin' EP' is out on Ecke Records 4th December 2018. With a party to celebrate the release planned for the 7th December, Ecke has invited UntilMyHeartStops' Joe Ellis down for an evening of deep, rolling rhythms.
