Krakota - Strange System

Krakota

Strange System

2x12inchNHS293LP
Hospital Records
01.08.2016

* Following a string of successful releases Krakota is back with a massive 14-track collection. 'Strange System' marries heavy distortion with razor-sharp clarity, crossing and colouring the black and white lines of drum & bass with his versatile style and slick production. His debut album stands tall and proud shouting his individual sound. Never underestimate Krakota, he's full of surprises!

* In 'Colour Of The Past' Krakota simultaneously tugs at the heartstrings and hits hard in the face with vocals brought by new finding Karina Ramage. The French-Scottish-English songwriter was a surprise find by label boss Chris Goss as he discovered her busking on London's South Bank. Another clear highlight is his partnering with our second label boss for 'Powder Coated' - the perfect mix of London Elektricity soul and Krakota power.
'Half Life' is a reminder back to the massive dancefloor damage caused by 'Ice Hands', 'Ghosts' and 'Xylo' last year. Its gritty split of siren calls and deep bouncing bass hits in all the right places. Krakota's musical edge shows in 'Elastic' with funk flare and horns hailing. 'North Winds' and 'Turn of Fate' blend arcade style synth work with crackles of white noise.

* A consistently brilliant producer, Krakota's carved out his own style over the past few years getting his name noticed on dancefloors around the UK and Europe. He's received support from the likes of BBC Radio 1's Friction and well remembered for his tear out live mix on BBC Radio 1Xtra's Soundclash in 2015. His solitary stance in the drum & bass world has been making waves and that's sure to continue with his outstanding debut album 'Strange System'.

London Elektricity - Are We There Yet (the Med School Scans)

* In 2015 London Elektricity surprised us all with his first album in over five years. 'Are We There Yet' more than deserved its influx of praise, now the Med School team has taken on the label boss' latest masterpiece. The 'Med School Scans' LP examines, dissects and transforms each track, injecting every member's unique persona into the critically acclaimed original.
* Etherwood, Keeno and Anile compliment London Elektricity's originals with class, elevating each into majestic adaptations. Whiney and S.P.Y keep up the funk of 'Tenderless' and 'Why Are We Here' while seeping through heavier subs and thicker percussions. Frederic Robinson creates an epic, dreamlike state with his rendition of 'Seven Days To Live'.* Royalston and Rawtekk don't hold back, their reconstructions of 'Tone Poem' and 'Telefunken Lizard Filter' move from jazz and soul to depth and darkness. The LP also features members of The Erised with Hidden Element taking 'Parallax' to a whole other level.* Outside of the Med School alumni, we've got up and comers GLXY with a sublime half-time trip on 'Artificial Skin'. Kimyan Law keeps things crisp, finely tuning 'That Thing You Did' and Subwave falls deep into a whirlpool of Emer Dineen's luscious vocals in his portrayal of 'Phase Us'.* All 15 tracks in this remix LP keep hold of the London Elektricity essence yet spread the sound further across either end of the drum & bass spectrum. With ten years already behind them, Med School continue to push forward

Neonlight - My Galactic Tale

Neonlight have emerged from the shadows to become one of the leading lights in modern Drum & Bass, and in My Galactic Tale it seems that they have found a way to truly cement themselves into the fabric of the genre for years to
come.

With a catalogue spanning major D&B arteries such as RAM, Viper, BSE, Bad Taste & Ammunition Recordings, it's no wonder Tobias & Jakob are hot property and a more than worthy addition to Black Sun Empire's Blackout Music family. If Ed Rush & Optical license three tracks for their FabricLive compilation, Andy C wants to add you to the RAMLife track list and you jet off to Australia & New Zealand for a label tour, then you must be doing something right.

My Galactic Tale builds on the solid foundations laid in previous releases. Always packed full of energy and creativity, Neonlight's productions have been decimating dancefloors the world over for years and this experience can clearly be heard throughout the LP. From the atmospheric breakdowns of Queen Beth V and Ignition to the unrelenting pace of Microbots, each and every element has been carefully crafted for maximum impact.

Juicy hooks, sumptuous melodies and pounding, almost death-defying basslines are the order of the day for Neonlight, all packaged beautifully in a 16 track long player that is sure to be a favourite with the duo's fans and set to elevate them even higher in the drum & bass standings.

The Prototypes - Pale Blue Dot / Humanoid

Drum & Bass duo The Prototypes, AKA Chris Garvey and Nick White release their much anticipated debut album 'City of Gold' on Viper Recordings. Already one of the hottest acts in the UK Drum & Bass club scene, The Prototypes are reaching new heights with their debut LP which showcases their trademark club sound, vocal anthems plus a few masterful tempo variations which will leave the listener wanting more.

This vinyl album sampler contains two of their biggest hits from last year with 'Pale Blue Dot' backed with 'Humanoid', both of which went #1 on the Beatport D&B charts.

'Pale Blue Dot'
Kicking off with a mysterious, immersive space-themed introduction, 'Pale Blue Dot' transports the rave into the far reaches of the universe. Building up the anticipation with rising synths, 'Pale Blue Dot' transforms into a dancefloor weapon. Crash landing with a stripped back, infectious melody and churning bass, the alien sounds of 'Pale Blue Dot' are sure to get the rave moving.

'Humanoid'
The B-side stays true to The Prototypes' heavy hitting, galactic-inspired sound, with the whirring 'Humanoid'. Exciting and rhythmical use of synth patterns alongside vocal interjections make this the ideal follow up to the hugely popular 'Pale Blue Dot.'

Xenophobia - Bring On The Rush

* Xenophobia is Sid Truelove (DJ Terminator) and Zillah Minx (The Acid Queen), founding mainstays of the groundbreaking Anarcho Punk group Rubella Ballet, augmented by the singular talents of Bert Fuzz (MC Skallywag from Spiral Tribe). They were among the first to turn on and tune into the early nineties' rave scene, Sid's interest growing out of his long-standing fascination with acid house and its associated pirate radio underground network.
* Already established as an innovative compositional talent thanks to his work with Rubella Ballet, Sid resolved to extend his exploration of the new sonic horizons of the times by investing every penny he had into the era's key electronic equipment; an Atari computer running Cubase a program for sequencing, and a Yamaha SY77 digital workstation and a four-track Tascam Portastudio for recording vocals. Armed with this new technology, Sid set about creating his own style of Rave music with the sweetly mesmeric sound of Zillah's angelic vocals, enhanced by Skallywag's unique MC-ing, which imparted the new songs with a tangible sense
of being at an actual rave.
* 'Hypo Psycho' was Xenophobia's first release with a 4 track 12' EP being issued in late 1991 on Xeno Recordings (XENO1T) Track 3 from the Hypo Psycho EP, 'Encounter' was also included on the Theory Records Beyond the Threshold compilation in late 1991 (TR101LP) Into Combat was Xenophobia's second vinyl offering, a 4 track 12' EP issued in early 1992 on XENO Recordings (XENO23T) Xenophobia made numerous special guest PA's with Spiral Tribe at illegal underground events in London and further afield around the M25, moving as fast as the scene itself to stay one step ahead of the Old Bill's pernicious attentions. The most famous of these was at Castlemorton in Worcestershire where 65,000 ravers congregated by word of mouth alone to spontaneously combust into the biggest guerilla party in Europe.

* At the time of the event, Spiral Tribe were tapping into the zeitgeist's mainline, their recently released eponymous debut EP 'Breach of the Peace' featured Xenophobia's monster track 'Doet' that included the compelling lyric 'Rush your f**kin' bollocks off'.
Xenophobia's next release was set to be 'The Wobbler' on Kickin Records. However, the label had other ideas; pulling the single and subsequently installing the track as a B-side to 'Rushing the House' in May 1992. The lead track again captured the context of the era, being capped by the line 'Ecstasy, it really gets me going / Gets me so I don't know what I'm doin''. 'Rushing the House' stormed straight in at Number 20 in the National Dance chart, Released at the height of the pirate radio days it was getting played on every station, seven days a week.

* Telstar snapped up 'Rushing the House' and released it on Rave Generator a CD compilation that also featured the Prodigy, Acen, Altern 8, Messiah, Utah Saints and many more. Sid recalls a phone call from Skallywag with directions to Castlemorten a free rave initiated by Spiral Tribe. The event provided him with the perfect opportunity to hand out a shed load of white labels to DJs at all the rigs. He remembers being with Zillah Minx and Scallywag, walking into one of the biggest tents whereupon the DJ spotted them and immediately killed the tune he was playing and slammed on a white label of 'Rushing the House'- The place exploded - everyone knew the words, as by now as it was on constant rotation across the pirate radio underground.

* Its pivotal lyric, 'Go to the flow with an E rush me, oo rush me, ee rush me' was on the lips of nearly every raver on the scene and is still as infectious today as it was 23 years ago. Big shout out to Spiral Tribe, Bedlam and many more underground systems, coz the music scene in the UK would not be the same without the sacrifices some of you made for the cause. The introduction of the Criminal Justice Bill made Castlemorten the last quality free rave of the year and put an end to Raves' as we knew them. 1992 was the summer we will all remember as when the Government put a stop to everyone enjoying them self by enforcing draconian laws on innocent party goers.

* Mid 1992 saw Xenophobia perform as headline act at 'Rave World', sending the packed, 5000 capacity, venue into a frenzy with their smash hit 'Rush in the House' and 'The Wobbler'. Rare footage from the night has been edited together for the first time in 20 years and is now available to watch on You Tube.

Krakota - Ice Hands / Ghostsÿ

* Following on from Xylo', Krakota's Ice Hands' and Ghosts' duo brings a chillingly cold welcome to the second chapter of his Hospital release story. With both tracks delivering enslaving bass-lines that quickly seize your undivided attention, going hand-in-hand to display his ear-grabbing talent and sophisticated skill. A single that revitalises the darkened corners of drum and bass and slaps you with an over whelming urge to hit your nearest dance floor.

* Ice Hands', Evoking sci-fi inspired scenes that lull you into a false sense of security before a sudden turn. Submerging you in a deep pit of quick punching synths with complex drum-patterns that let you get lost. A track that teases the ear, discovering new found levels with each play.

* The futuristic sounds of Ghosts' surround you with a sense of the supernatural. A progressive build of percussions creep up like a rocket ready to launch before dropping into an accompaniment of transfixing sub-bass and filthy synths that grab you and won't let go. A track not only to keep your ears warm at night but ideal for any dance-floor, guaranteed to revive any 5AM fall downs.

* Once more Bournemouth-based Sebastian Inwood has earned his stripes with a clear-cut Krakota sound running throughout. Outer Heaven - All Headz Ep

Outer Heaven

All Headz Ep

12inchRUPTURELDN011
Rupture LDN
30.04.2017

Rupture continues it's premier role in resurrecting and redefining jungle for the twenty-first century. Newcomer Outer Heaven joins the label's roster for their eleventh release, a hefty three-track EP full of dubbed-out atmospherics, cracking breaks, and contemporary productions techniques.

The winds of jungle-past blow across the sparse landscape of All Headz' - a screw-faced, dread-laden amen workout that leaves just enough breathing room between assaults for the dance to catch its breath before being pulled back into the swirling undertow. Menacing notes hang in the air of this hazy soundscape, punctuated by warped mic chatter and vintage samples.

On the flip side, Rankin'' quickly elevates the system with a hypnotic cut of Afrofuturism dripping in thick, resonant vibes. Precision bursts of acidic fire cut through the smoky atmosphere, leaving room for cascading avalanches of amen fury, while pressure only builds again through the linear repetition of the vocal sample.

Phantasm' begins with a fog of melodic atmospherics that quickly drifts across a heavy, mechanical drum pattern. A savage, organic rhythm emerges, bolstered by hoovering stabs and jangling effects. Although completely unrelenting after the first drop, this closing track never loses its groove.

Subtle Audio - A Decade In Breakbeat 3x12"

" In May 2005 Subtle Audio launched with the aim of reviving the breakbeat side of D&B. Now, over 10 years later (and fashionably late!) they celebrate 'A Decade In Breakbeat'.

This collection of vinyls kicks off with the epic blackness of Nebula's amen led "Noir", then flips the script with the ethereal Medeski, Martin & Wood sampling "Speechless" by Dub One. The vibe goes from leisurely to insanity and back again when the drum machines of Alpha Omega's "Know How" are added to railroading breaks supplied by Aroma Nice & Earl Grey. The combination makes for an epic remix of the debut Subtle Audio release. Mecca goes for a more stripped down approach on the aptly titled "Analysis". The sudden injection of breakbeat mayhem near the end is all the more devastating after the spacious rhythm section that lays the track's foundation. NCQL's "Breath of the Eve" marries clipped vocals, soaring atmospherics and a driving amen for a track that has become a Subtle Audio anthem since it's digital release back in 2013. After numerous requests they've bowed to the pressure and given it a vinyl press! The breaks in Reactiv's "Metatron Falls" pulse and move with real vibrancy, their vitality representative of the injection of energy a new breed of breakbeat manipulators have given to this style of D&B / Jungle. If you want to hear what they have to offer, then this release would be a good place to start ! Here's to the next decade. "

Eatbrain follow up Billain's incredible 'Colonize' EP with the fresh new introduction to the wider Neurofunk landscape of Russian production trio GYDRA.Withpowerful and raw production on the dark side of Tech, this multi-headed force smash their way into Eatbrain in relentless style with their 'Cyborg' EP. Formed in 2014, and composed of individual producers Mizo, Menfort and Bes, they've been dominating the Russian DnB scene with their legendary Neuropunk events and podcasts. Their militant aesthetic and innate feel for eyeball shaking funk proves once again Eatbrain's skillful ability in picking the strongest of emerging artists, able to hold their own alongside their roster of seasoned pioneers.

Layered paranoid pads lure listeners into PSYCHO's huge half-step intro, with MC Coppa's deadly serious vocals punctuating the darkness and keeping the vibe on edge. Massive rolling beats are backed with an edgy plucked synth that really drives the heavy discomfort.

Dubkraft Records
22.07.2016

The "XY" EP marks 10 Years of prolific activity for DubKraft Records, a music label that runs under a simple motto: "Bass, Spirit, Character". X is the Roman number 10, while Y obviously stands for "Years". The two letters also represent the two sides of the vinyl record, two worlds bridged by the label, and the symbolism runs way deeper than that. The artists chosen for this very special release are some of the heavy-weights that have been most influential for DubKraft's history:
Label's honcho Alien Pimp remixes an epic collaboration between UK drum&bass legend Loxy and the international combo Marginal, titled "X". Marginal follows up with an 170bpm cyber-ballad guaranteed to stimulate empathy in artificial intelligence.
The "Y" Side of the record is fully taken by one of the most epic pieces of bass music ever created. Another drum&bass legend, this time from Russia, namely Dissident, starts with dubtech atmospheres, follows up with intricate jungle amens and for the closure lands on an ambient vibe. Nothing words can describe.
All in all, "XY" EP is a collection item for anyone that loves bass music and drum&bass in their most advanced and futuristic forms.

Cern / Mayhem & Cern - Hollow Moon Vip / Hydraulic / Tiamat Vip

* Continuing the successful 'Dispatch Dubplate' series, we're pleased to welcome the 4th release, coming from Cern. Each vinyl showcases a thicker set 180 grams in weight, hand numbered (1 - 300), hand-stamped, signed, with an added label sticker pack with all 300; never to be re-pressed.

* 'Hollow Moon VIP' sees a release as the first track on 004, the hysteria fueled VIP that we have received continued requests for; something that has formed and remained a staple part of DJ sets for Ant TC1 & Cern over the past year. * 'Hydraulic' is the next track to feature as our Dubplate Exclusive; a collaboration between Cern and Atlanta based Mayhem (best known within D&B for his early productions with Noisia). The result is an authentic, early 2000s tech step vibe; relentless drum programming, but just enough groove & character to stand out from the crowd.

* Completing the package, Cern returns to sampler track 'Tiamat' from his recent 'Under Another Sky' album to deliver a re-work that goes up and above the call of duty, delivering an incredible sequel that firmly de-thrones the much loved original.

Malux - Turbine / Fonk

* Bad Taste Recordings hit 2016 in severe kinetic style with a fresh pair of tracks launching the identity of Malux, the new Neurofunk-focussed moniker of established bass producer SKOPE (Inspected). With "Turbine" and "Fonk" the agenda is clear - energetic, funk-fuelled DnB driven by detailed low-frequency design and a boisterous rave vibe.

* 'Turbine' carries with it a stripped aesthetic, with a percussive pattern driven by the snare and wonky plucked synth work. This is heads-down, bassface material for ravers to get into step to. 'Fonk' on the flip hits a cheeky upbeat tone, switching slickly between bass textures punctuated by staccato sonic fragments.

* With support from scene titans such as Andy C, The Upbeats and radio play from Friction on BBC R1 and Crissy Criss on Kiss FM, Malux has immediately caught the attention of those who know. Bad Taste hits the nail on the head again, introducing another name with a big destiny into the halls of DnB.

006 is possible the most revered release in Headz early catalolgue and this track is the jewel in its crown, there really isn't much more that needs to be said on this track.

* Brutal Bass
The sound of Dillinja having fun with breaks and bass, playing them off each other and and an early example of the bleepy accents that would become is hallmark over the years to come

Heist - Rejected Love / Charybdis

* Horizons continues the charge into summer with two select cuts from one of the most prolific producers in the scene today. Following on from the success of his recent Metalheadz EP Heist comes correct once more showcasing his skills as one of the most accomplished artists in drum & bass.

* Opting for the warmer climes of 'Rejected Love', Heist goes full-on landscape mode for a cinematic slice of pristine D&B that effortlessly drifts through the ether with swathes of synth and subtle bass that draws us in.

* It's left to 'Charybdis' to pick up the pace as Heist takes us on tech-infused journey of gnarly fx and industrial sized sub sure to sink dance floors across the land. Deadly in the right hands.

Logistics - Electric Sunk

Logistics

Electric Sunk

2x12inchNHS286L 2X12"
Hospital Records
24.03.2016

* As one of the pioneers of the signature Hospital Records sound Logistics already has an impressive succession of albums, EPs, collaborations and remixes in his repertoire. Fortunately for us he's adding one more to the list with his incredible sixth studio album, 'Electric Sun' filled with jungle flavoured rollers, garage-inspired chop-ups, down tempo head-nodders, swirling synths and merciless subs.
* Settle inside paradise with 'Icarus' - featuring fellow Cambridge connoisseur Hugh Hardie - along with 'After Dark' they provide a warm, anthemic wash throughout the LP that contrasts with the equally ethereal yet hypnotic slow dance of 'Still Life', featuring Holly Drummond. The refined style in 'Tell Me True' proves simplicity really is key, rippling piano and gentle guitar plucks come together to create a first-class future classic.
* Switch the tempo! Logistics takes a different direction with 'Fight 4 U' and 'Deep Breath' relaxing the rhythms with strong subs and choppy, pitched vocals aplenty. Closing the LP is a collaboration with rising vocalist Zara Kershaw, whose soulful and sophisticated sound perfectly compliments Logistics' style in 'Finish Line'. He's also succeeded in syncing vocalists Sherry Davis, McLean and Stella Attar with his melodic, liquid D+B vibrations in 'Cold Light of Day', 'Lost In U' and 'Take Me to Another World'.

Sigma & Diztortion Ft. Jacob Banks - Redemption / Vip

* With Sigma's fourth hit record and third iTunes No.1 single, 'Glitterball' (feat. Ella Henderson), still in the Official
Chart Company and iTunes Top 10 singles charts, Cam and Joe have announced details of their new single,
'Redemption', a collaboration with Diztortion that features UK star, Jacob Banks.

* Unveiled across UK national radio earlier this evening, 'Redemption' is the opening song from Sigma's current live
show, and a collaboration with UK-based Dutch producer/artist, Diztortion, a frequent visitor to the UK Top 20 singles
chart and best known for his work with Stylo G, Lethal Bizzle, Major Lazer, Stormzy, Tinie Tempah, and Wiley. Banks
recently released his second EP, 'The Paradox', which received support from Pharrell, P Diddy, and Annie Mac; he's
currently working with artists including Chase & Status, Bondax, Wretch 32, and more.

* Sigma's forthcoming 10 date UK and Ireland live tour begins in Manchester on 22 October, the duo will then hit
London, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Dublin, Bristol, Sheffield, Portsmouth, Oxford, and Norwich. Cam and Joe sold
out their debut live tour in April, which saw shows in London, Manchester, Birmingham, and Brighton. Since then, the
boys have smashed Glastonbury, Hideout, EDC, T In The Park, Pukkelpop, V Festival, and more, with Creamfields,
SW4, and others to come, plus dates across the Ibiza season at Together at Amnesia, and Ibiza Rocks. The pair
performed live at this year's BAFTAs, following December's performances at the BBC Music Awards, and the
Christmas Day edition of Top Of The Pops.

* 'Redemption' follows the duo's worldwide hits 'Glitterball' (feat. Ella Henderson), 'Changing' (feat. Paloma Faith),
'Higher' (feat. Labrinth) - recently unveiled as the anthem for this year's Sky Sports Super Sunday- and 'Nobody
To Love', their first No.1 single that gained them two BRITs nominations.

* Sigma were the only group in 2014 to have back-to-back No.1 singles in the form of 'Nobody To Love' and
'Changing' (featuring Paloma Faith), with both shifting over 100,000 copies in their first week. Sigma have now sold
over 2 million singles worldwide in just over a year, gone Platinum twice in the UK ('NTL' and 'Changing') and
Gold for 'Changing' in Germany, and Benelux, and Platinum in Australia and New Zealand ('NTL').
