Dark Knite continues its run of deep, dark and heavy releases with the old skool jungle don himself, Danny Styles, ripping up the rule book on his debut EP for the label. I'm Not Sick is a driven slice of menacing jungle, amen led and heavy as hell, its a simply unstoppable track. Dark Place is just as relentless as the A side, taking the Kid & Play break and melding it with amens and the darkness of the title. Lastly, Badman Bass switches it up to slightly later style of d'n'b, with its warped bass and tough as nails beats...

Dj Stephano steps up to the plate after a run of wicked EPs on Kniteforce, KFA and KFRR....this release showcases his variety in style and ability to turn anything into something dark and terrifying. Darkness has a fierce swagger and pace to it, using wanr stabs in a nasty way, and a strange speech to further mystify and confuse the listener. Just Play is anything but playful, with its hypnotic sounds and unusual format, while Blame brings in a sinister piano to an increasingly claustrophobic vibe...

Guidance is the new label from Bay B Kane (Ruff Guidance) and Kniteforce Records. Leaning into the deeper and darker edges of jungle, this first EP is an absolute heavyweight of a release. "I See The Rain" starts with a simple sounding bleep riff and haunting vocals, but builds into a thunderous amen workout, with rough bass and an almost claustrophobic feel. Meanwhile, "Domina" is one of the gnarliest, roughest jungle tunes releases sine the revival, and is Bay B Kane at his very best!

Ghost Phone is back! Blowing in from Bristol with another hand of anonymous aces. Glossy R&B in flagranti and off it’s tits in a dank, heaving basement session.

The opener Hologram is characteristically greened-out: a 160bpm g-funk odyssey for the autonomic massive. Then it’s back to earth with Want U, a nectar-sweet, stripped-back dancefloor heater, complete with tongue in cheek nods to the Jersey Club sound. Tough, loose jungle breaks revitalise a 90s classic on the flip, in So Gone; before Darkness Finds Home With U wraps things up with dense, heady atmospherics and ethereal vocals.

After the success of the collaborations on 2019’s Tek 9 LP, Dego and Dom team up again for AKO Beatz, this time a whole LP’s worth of back and forth, which started collaborating in-person pre lockdown, to then be finished virtually.

The sound is a kind of fantasy 1997 where drum and bass had held on to one of its alternate futures. The year 1997 had experimental intricate beats, warm bass, and odd sounds; the skill of playing real instruments matching the knowledge of breakbeat science.

If they hadn’t chosen another path, this is what it could have sounded like. The sound is very now but from another time. Is it the future, is it the past? It’s just anachronistic.

Superabundance is back with Extrasolar, the new 2x12” hot wax album on Future Times. The duo of Jackson Ryland (Peach Discs, Fixed Rhythms, Rush Plus) and FT honcho Max D follow up 2021’s self-titled debut LP with a hyperfunk techno gallop, hurtling further out from where they began. Extrasolar’s tracks all burst into existence, produced in a quick, sometimes entirely improvised nature.

Cuts like “Sizable Jackfruit”, “20 Spectrum” and “Tempopalace” show off brash bursts of swinging loopy DJ creation, while “Reset” oscillates between cliff-hanging and solid ground time changes and “Crossfade Diving” slides thru wet streets with a paranoid step.

On tracks like “Perplexion”, “Dex Holo”, and closer “Goth Hi Tek”, the duo paints new shades of their sound, getting into a twist on synthpop, soundworlds and Cure progressions.“Perplexion” enters smudged shoegazing territory, smearing percussion in the mix with soaring chords.

“Particle Busters” repurposes industrial junk into soundsystem punk machinery. “We XL”, a rave slammer featuring one of DC’s best, Nativesun (Black Rave Culture) is for booming warehouses only. “Big Deal” breaks out the sliced funk and melted data. TIP!

Excursions down footwork, acid, breaks and grooves are what Jeez Marquis brings to Cape St. Francis for their third release.

The common denominator between these tracks? F-U-N.

Sometimes you just stumble upon some music randomly, fall in love with it and you quickly look to grab a copy, but only a CD was ever released of it.

So after playing it digitally for quite a while now, it was the right decision to get it pressed on Vinyl, as some of you out there prefer that format.

Following up on their accomplished first collaboration “Fever Dream” and its accompanying remix album “Parasomnia”, Snowbeasts & Solypsis head out on wax for the fantastic “Firelands” LP. The dependable industrial beats and synths of Snowbeasts programmer Robert Galbraith (also known to many as a superior mastering engineer), the haunting voice of Elizabeth Virosa, and the nefarious bass and electronics of the prolific Solypsis come together once again to produce a ride through a fiery terrain of slowed tempo, half-remembered nightmares, and cavernous low end. With vocals ranging from ethereal to evil, spooky grooves charting a pathway to inferno, and distortions applied at the perfect moments, Firelands is a memorable journey. Heavy on synthesizer funk, and intricate percussions to drive the beat, the album erupts with the black lava of downtempo destruction. It's been a while since we last had an all-Polish collaboration as part of a single release, but here we are! And what a collab it is! We're bringing to you two of our long-time favourites - Mateusz Dudzinski aka SNIK and Piotr Kalinski aka Hatti Vatti. The occasion? Well, we don't want to spoil too much but there some fresh stuff by SNIK on the horizon, and to shake things up a bit, we decided to release Hatti Vatti's remix of SNIK's track that will be available as part of something bigger in some time first.

The track is called "Absence", but the title is actually a lie - you'll find no absence of solid jungle vibes, riveting synth samples, dubby basslines, and classic vocal bits spread across the entire track. Think autonomic blended with modern-day jungle and you'll get the idea.

MELMAK's new 12" is entitled All Stars: The Rave Years which gives you an idea of what to expect. These are high-tempo, dense and rave ready sounds from the drum & bass vanguard. There is plenty of space out cosmic energy to the exploratory leads of X Termal's 'Tragnal Kozze' then 'What If' (The Doulo Klan edit) is a tightly coiled stepper. Bugger lays down a hyper speed rhythm with drilling bass and slapping hits on 'No Silence Now' and Umbra's 'The Big Dumb' is a real slow-motion churner with textural synths and alien sound designs. All four are ready to get the party going in different ways.

The Kniteforce White label is renowned for its original content and authentic old skool sound. The deepest of the underground cuts released by Kniteforce, this sub label gives new artists space to experiment, but keeps the vibe rare and sought after by never repressing and never remixing....

Next up via the Herrensauna collective’s expansive record label imprint is a six-track LP of euphoric tension and mutant electro from alien boogie commander Volruptus. Unruly drums, erratic arpeggios, glitchy bass, high speeds. What more is there to say...

How do you follow up an EP like Champion Sound? By going even darker and harder, that’s how! And that is exactly what Q project did with this incredible EP. In 1993 the burgeoning jungle sound was coming into its own, and this EP encapsulates that perfectly. The sound is very dark yet still has great musicality and a sound that is clearly defined as jungle music today. All comes together to present the 3rd release on La Rama Records. Nahash provides five pieces of varied influence for a cohesive effect, downtempo dance steppers to cinematic breaks for raw human motion.

After releases on Shanghai’s SVBKVLT and Lyon’s POLAAR, Nahash goes local with brick and mortar operation La Rama. Working with New Jack samples and obscure orchestral Jazz, ‘Stockpiling’ is Nahash in a dance floor style, providing discerning DeeJays a tune for every moment of the night.

µ-Ziq says hello again with 'Goodbye'. The six track EP is the first in a series of releases by Mike Paradinas this year, which are all centred around the 25th Anniversary Edition of 'Lunatic Harness', his classic 1997 album. Inspired by going back through the archives while he was remastering the Lunatic Harness reissue, 'Goodbye' sees Mike revisiting the nineties, taking on jungle and its precursor jungle tekno and upgrading them with the benefit of hindsight and contemporary software. Imbued with Mike's lush sense of melody and his knack for striking contrasts (don't be shocked to hear maudlin piano, 303 and amens in the same track), 'Goodbye' approaches these old genres like a sandpit, and stretches them in directions only Mike might take.

VILIFY is a Berlin-based DJ and producer known for her multi-genre approach to bass-fueled club music. With over a decade of performance under her belt, she broadcasts numerous times monthly – known for her “Genre is a Social Construct” mix series, and DJs regularly at top venues in her home city and around the world. Her serene, melodic productions are anchored by titanic sub woofer emanations, and her sound can best be described as ethereal, eclectic, and exquisite. The Wire magazine selected “Road to Eleusis” for inclusion in its Tapper CD compilation series. A video for Interchangable Auras, was shot in Vancouver, BC, by Jeremy Shantz – a collaborator from VILIFY’s home nation of Canada – and is linked below. This 8 track LP, reaches across bass music, jungle, experimental electronic, world, melodic and more. 
It was a created in a time of uncertainty, aiming to release fear & past Karmic cycles in an effort to open the door to brighter, more authentic being.
 Connecting to source, rather than self, fostered this culmination of powerful, emotive sound and deep expression.
