Beats Vinyl New Releases - News

* Hybrid Minds have drafted in a whole heap of their favourite producers to re-work their debut album 'Mountains'.
* Since landing straight in at No.4 in the iTunes electronic music charts on its release week, this production duo have
been turning heads, not just as producers, but as expertly skilled DJs with the ability to destroy any dancefloor.
* While they may be known for d&b on the more musical side of the spectrum, make no mistake, Hybrid Minds know how
to, in the words of DJ Hype, 'rinse it out proper'. This collection of remixes is designed with just that in mind.
* While all the remixers have been busy working on the Hybrid Minds tracks, the boys are currently putting the finishing
touches to new material which will be released early 20
keep the fans happy, and no doubt gain quite a few more.
* Selected tracks are also available on a white vinyl format.
* Support from Friction Radio 1, 1xtra, Fabio, Bailey, Bryan G, DJ Marky, Technimatic, S.P.Y, Bassdrive, D&B Arena and
a whole load more...

* D&B's rapidly rising Liz-E returns to SGN for her second outing, following hot on the success of her debut on the label last year. Signing out of 2014 in style, are two tracks of beautifully crafted drum & bass.
With a nod to the old school, 'Need You' brings classic vocal samples hinged around amen breaks and pitch-shifting snares, all riding over an enormous sub tone bassline designed for big room raves the world over. A hands in the air, SGN party piece that does the damage, guaranteed.
'On My Mind' opts to soothe the soul, underpinned by a smooth rolling break, warm ethereal pads and gentle vox, all combining for a hazy summer slice of liquid gold. No doubt there's much more to come from Liz-E in 2014.

* Minor Rain is an artist of real diversity and depth who has a deep emotive connection with the music he produces. An accomplished musician who plays piano and sax, drawing on influences from a range of diverse sources from film scores and sound design to artists covering all spectrums of electronic music such as Noisia, Audio, Amon Tobin and Hans Zimmer to name a few. Taking inspiration from artists of that caliber, high-end production values were always going to be an integral part of his work, this providing the foundation for his musicality, with the two elements complimenting each other perfectly. He's an artist whose aspiration is to produce something truly unique and original.

* His latest release, forthcoming on Addictive Behaviour, highlights his ability to not only work at different tempos but also how he's able to go from the melodic, to the dark and minimal or stylishly blending both laid over precision engineered drum edits.

* Shimmering high hats, reverbed bleeps and haunting strings open the Flux track before a short kick and snare leads to the breakdown. Crunchy vox sounds combined with filtered drums and metallic synths ready the track before dropping into a big growling metallically industrial synth and weighty sub that drives the track on. And with a few subtle synth and bass switches this makes for a polished, dark and techy slammer of a track.

* Thunderbird begins with a handful of airy and spacious synth notes with some ambient background percussion which blends into a tight light kick and snare pattern whilst a warm soft pad comes sweeping in. Each element progressively gets more urgent as the track builds to a heavy drop. The lead synth drags the track ferociously along underpinned by a phat pumping sub, bass fused with some crisp drum programming for a skillfully sculpted slice of Neurofunk

* With huge releases already on Renegade Hardware, Dispatch Recordings, Med School, Samurai Music & Addictive Behaviour, Minor Rain's dark and ultra-modern take on drum & bass is quickly building a solid reputation for the Slovakian producer.

* Limited edition vinyl

* Supported by a full press and radio campaign. Updates in PR sheet.

* Clear Red Vinyl *
* Sacred Heart
A soulful vocal refrain brings emotion to this '97 flavoured stepper. Sacred heart is all about the changes between the
hats and shakers. A Live double bass add great character whilst the sub works out. The second drop switches into a mid
range and think monster.
* Beams
The intro is awash with pads and introspective FX, Beams is a real 4am stepper, a DJs dream in that it just rolls out
perfectly. One that really tests the low end. Has the early tech sound nailed.
* Pow Wow
Pure Detroit techno vibes on this one, a huge roller with stabs that illuminate the step, a peak time track that will be
played across the scene.

* In November 2014 Metalheadz will release Om Unit's extended player 'Inversion' and it's a FUTURE CLASSIC.
The extended project follows his three track release 'Sleepwalkers' in 2013 and 'Timelines' in 2014.
Om Unit was schooled via Metalheadz. Although he earned his stripes via Hip Hop as DJ 2Tall it was breakbeat-hardcore and Jungle that shaped his attitude towards electronic music and the ferocious trail blazing of the Metalheadz crew was an undoubted inspiration.

* Thus it makes perfect sense that his take on this sound, his contribution to moving this sound forward comes via Metalheadz. The sonic nature of the project is rooted in London, Chicago and Detroit- Drums, Subs and Textures.

* Press / Promotion: DJ Mag feature, Mixmag feature, Video Premieres, We have had extensive radio play for this project via Mista Jam, Friction, B-Traits, Flight and Rockwell.

* Continuing a strong line of afro inspired works, men like Pedestrian & Jasperdrum drop another scintillating technoid excursion on 2nd Drop. Deeper, moodier with dynamically carved esoteric angles, 'Origins' moves forward from the superb Kalakuta, the afrobeat meets bass music bomb supported by Giles Peterson, Scuba, Midland, Mr Scruff and many more, from last year, to deliver a heads down destroyer. Off kilter, wonky and expertly crafted, Pedestrian & Jasperdrum's 'Origins' is pure class, led by a host of syncopated percussion, haunting flute lines and distorted vocal samples, this is what Fela would have sounded like if he'd teamed up with Carl Craig in 2014!* On the flip we welcome Alix Perez, best known for his DnB production but widely talented as shown by his Arp101 outings on the likes of Eglo. Here, Alix takes the tools to Kalakuta, transforming the original's afrocentricity into a tense, punchy roller, dominated by a bass line which literally jumps in to your ears. Toss in a stabby synth line, rifle shot drums and plenty of bass with space, this a beautifully crafted refix.* On the artwork, we're really happy to welcome back the supremely talented Jimmy Turrell, a well-respected designer and illustrator who has worked with everyone from Fiat and Nike to The Guardian and Dazed & Confused. Asked once again to provide something inspired by Afrocentricism, he came back with a strikingly bold image that evokes the essence of the music.

Having released on Soul:R, SGN:LTD German DJ/Producer Amaning now gears up towards releasing his debut album on Celsius Recordings.

On the A-side we find Amaning teaming up with San Francisco inhabitant Submorphics. 'Looking Back' is an energetic, feel-good roller with vintage samples but still geared heavily towards the dancefloor.

On the flip Amaning and Substance come correct on 'Don't Stop'. With a more electronic feeling and anthemic bassline it completes this soulful liquid release with technical intelligence and a fresh outlook towards the full album. Enjoy!

Burning beats by Lucy Furr

After what many would consider one of the most meteoric rises to D&B infamousy in recent times, Mefjus gets set to deliver his debut album 'Emulation' through Critical Music. An extension of his explosive trademark production style, the music of Mefjus stands tall as an aggressive powerhouse of some the most deadly dance floor drum & bass seen in 2014. Drawing on a handful of carefully selected collaborators from the jaw-dropping Phace & Misanthrop to the hip-hop infusions of Dope D.O.D, 'Emulation' looks set to shatter dance floors for years to come, marking a clear-cut arrival of one of the most gifted producers in the D&B game, Mefjus.

*This limited edition vinyl product is a single 12' vinyl, shrink-wrapped with full 14-track CD inside.
*Med School are very proud to present the highly-anticipated debut album from remarkable new talent Etherwood. Having captured the imagination of the scene at large with his awe-inspiring, anthemic productions and moving melodies, Etherwood is proving to be the hottest thing in drum & bass right now. Here he delves further into his signature sound, sculpting a beautiful album full of deep liquid flavours, delicate percussion and indelible vocals.
*As a talented musician and guitarist for Jakwob's live show, the album has musicality and songwriting at its very core and features Etherwood's own ethereal vocals on a number of tracks including "Begin By Letting Go", "Hold Your Breath" and "The Time Is Here At Last". Etherwood also enrols the services of aspiring talents Laurelle Robichaud, Georgia Yates, Bev Lee Harling, Rocky Nti and Hybrid Minds, as well as a deadly co-production with Hospital Records' stalwart Nu:Tone.
*Prior to 2012, Etherwood was a name known only to a dedicated underground following, so dedicated in fact that many offered payment for a handful of tracks made available for free download. Within one short year he has become the name on everyone's lips. His first official release was "Give It Up" which appeared on Hospital Records' "Sick Music 3" compilation and this was followed in 2013 by sing-along anthem "Spoken" and the delicate and melancholic "Unfolding" on Med School's "New Blood 013" compilation. With remixes for Lana Del Rey, Jess Mills and Jakwob already under his belt, Etherwood's debut album has garnered much speculation across the musical landscape and he is already widely-touted as a future star.

Hell yeah! Impish returns to Audio Plants with some serious goodies! With his rolling signature bassline and sexy vocals embedded in combination with funky sounds "About Love" will make you dive deep into the summer again. After a long break Side1 & Deal present their brand new body shaker "Move Me" on the flipside. Jazzy bass and punchy drums will most certainly make you get a move on. So what are you waiting for Give in and start wiggling your hips on the dancefloor!

Anyone who was a D&B fan at the turn of the millennium will remember the impact that 'liquid funk' had on the genre. A rebellion against the techno-fuelled aggression that had dominated the scene for several years, liquid funk was spearheaded by then Radio 1 DJ Fabio and led to the rise of some of drum & bass' most respected artists and labels, from the mighty Calibre to the unstoppable Hospital Records.

Now, a decade and a half on, you might be forgiven for thinking that liquid funk's moment has passed. One listen to the playlists of Radio 1's elite will tell you otherwise, though. While the name might no longer be on everyone's lips the echoes of its sound still resonate today. You can hear them in the UK number 1 singles from Sigma, you can sense the euphoric overtones and rib-rattling basslines at feel-good drum & bass nights across the globe and over half a million subscribers worldwide follow the sound on Liquicity's own YouTube channel.

Since its inception the Liquicity brand has become a behemoth, selling out events across Europe and connecting their YouTube community in online and offline situations. Meanwhile their compilations go from strength to strength - two of their previous compilations have hit the number 1 spot both in the iTunes Electronic chart and the Beatport Top 100 Releases chart.

'Escapism 2' is the second instalment in Liquicity's compilation series which invites you to soak up the glorious sound of liquid funk circa 2014. The first edition received an incredible amount of love topping both the Beatport Top 100 Releases and the iTunes Electronic Album charts and the follow up looks set to replicate that success.

Coming with a selection of established drum & bass producers alongside some of the hottest new talent the genre has to offer including Logistics, Dkay, Seba, Jenna G, Murdock, Maduk and Future Prophecies 'Escapism 2' is undoubtedly Liquicity's most ambitious project to date, but one listen will show you that ambition has paid off. Packed with glorious, melodic drum & bass that's at home in your headphones as much as it is on the dancefloor; this is one compilation you can't afford to ignore this autumn.

The limited vinyl sampler holds the two most prolific tracks from the album: 'Good Luv' by Murdock, Submatik & Jenna G and the Logistics remix from 'Believe' by Maduk.

* The extended project follows his three track release 'Sleepwalkers' in 2013 and 'Timelines' in 2014.

* Touching Down
What an opening track! It begins with 2 minutes of strings- pure emotion and drama. The track steps up to the gauntlet that Goldie so loves to throw down. Before the track drops we're treated to Cleveland Watkiss announcing 'Setting the standard, we deliver the blueprint' and so the journey begins...

* The War Fear Jehst
Jehst delivers rhymes on the state of our society over Om Units un relenting 808s and think breaks. Jehst takes the role of a hooded watcher in the shadows, overseeing everything that we're descending into, It's an overt commentary. The use of sample at the end of the track sums up what so many millions of us do without even thinking twice. It is By this point you begin to understand Om Unit has crafted a true extended project.

* The Crossing
The intro develops into a breakbeat roll out that is accented by this almost astral travel feeling that builds and builds into this sprawling track that has a deep sense of soul to it.

* Layers
A piece without drums or bass, the best way to describe this track would be a soundtrack piece, it immediately puts you at a point in a journey before the final battle commences. As much Bladerunner as Blue Note.

* Bardo Realms
The track begins with light pads and almost vocals and gives way to a filthy reese bass. On display is Om Unit's amazing ability to edit breaks into something altogether new, the funky drummer is now even more funky as it skitters over massive dubby bass.

* Understand
Perhaps the most complex track on the project, breaks chop against one another with bass lighting up the battle, and just when you think it's over the amen drops, murder. It's at this point that we we head into dancefloor destroyer territory for the album.

* Parallel
Half time grit, something you can imagine Loxy and Dbridge playing straight away, that dark low reese lit funk, it strides into Dillinja territory when enters its climax with massive saturated 808s setting the standard.
* Mystic
The last track on the album is minimal and tribal, it brings proceedings to a close in fantastic way, Paranoid and other worldly. The perfect final track to a hugely daring project on behalf of Metalheadz and Om Unit.

Goldie - 'Nice release, these guys are at the top of their game'Break - 'One of the best labels in dnb'Noisia - 'Superb'Crissy Criss - 'Single of the month!'
* Utopia's long anticipated 15th single brings forth DLR onto the label roster. The A side 'Old Soul' also combines the brotherhood of Mako and Fields and the results are delicious. A heavy homemade break joins together an intricate bass line with the touches of love that the label pushes. The second drop adds more vocal melodies and makes the tune more than just one for the dancefloor.
* The B side is a stepped-out-rolled-out vibe with DLR taking the solo lead on this one. Naughty bass and a tight break keep the energy moving nicely.
* Press / Promotion: In house campaign from Utopia. Editorial sought in all UK music and dance titles (Mixmag (single of the month), DJ Mag review, Trap Magazine, Resident Advisor) as well as national and regional daily and weekly press titles for review.

One the biggest, most respected and revered names in drum & bass is without doubt Shogun Audio's head honcho, Friction. 2012 is looking to be a pinnacle year for the DJ/producer as he readies not only his debut artist album but also gets set to take over the most prestigious job in the business; BBC Radio 1's flagship Drum & Bass Show. His first
single of the year is as you'd expect nothing short of mammoth; primed and ready to rock, this is polished D&B of the highest calibre.

High Contrast should need no introduction with a legacy as one of D+B's most recognisable and much loved figures. Since the release of his seminal debut, 'True Colours' in 2002, he's risen through the ranks to become one of the most sought-after DJs in the scene. His third studio album 'Tough Guys Don't Dance' (2008) followed 2004's 'High Society', and was succeeded by 'High Contrast: Confidential', a double-disc best-of compilation that fused the best of his own production with high profile remixes of The Streets, Adele and Basement Jaxx.

* Nucleus & Paradox on Metalheadz Platinum...a welcome collaboration
* The Return Of..
The A side is a darkside monster, centred around the pairs breakbeat and sub bass mantra. This time they go for a classic think break roll out, stepped out to perfection. The track is underpinned by a menacing rave stab. To put it simply - exactly what you would expect of Nucleus and Paradox on Headz
* Analogue Life
The title is very apt, you can hear the machines working away in this track. The drums are left with all their original character - full of warmth and pop. The pads hang over the track in a threatening manner with bass tones playing off one another. An exercise in restraint as the shaker doesn't drop till three minutes into the track along with off kilter FX and subtle percs.

* With hugely popular tracks and remixes from Verb over the last year or so on labels such as
Renegade Hardware" "Dispatch Recordings" and "117 records" comes verb's next installment of
solid releases which looks set to be very popular.
* This is the debut single to verb's brand new label opening with 2 tracks from himself which have
been widely sought after and looks set to be a real contender for the scene.
* "Warmonger" takes you back to a more organic sound to the d&b genre but with an updated
feel with twisted synths and pads to give it that futuristic vibe and keeping that underground
essence alive.
* "Poison Flower" Once again a trip down memory lane with a track that recaptures the essence
of the old skool days but again brought up to date with some angry underlaying synths and
intense sub base patterns to keep the moods moving
* Both these tracks are a good indication that verb is set to be taking things in the right direction
with a host of very well known producers that are set to be joining him onboard the label
* DJ Support *: there has been a lot of dj support from the likes of Digital & Spirit, DJ Trace,
Randall, Loxy, Gremlinz, BTK, Raiden, Meth, Manifest, Genotype to name a few which have
played these tunes to a point where there is now a high anticipation for the release.

Records open on a Distorted Crossbreed superb killer... Second tune bring a more Hard jungle track, very in the Active underground jungle style. B-side offer a first superb deep-core tune, in a dubstep experimental style, melting calm and noise. Finally the EP finishes on a 4/4 tune, 163 BPM, A superb tune that could be played Hardtek either Hardcore. Praxis keeps on realesing superb tune, once again, with a top quality sound ! Enjoy !

PRODUCER OF THE MOMENT 'LENZMAN' (SHOGUN/SOUL:R/INTEGRAL/CIA) DELIVERS A CLASSIC DEBUT SINGLE FOR GOLDIE'S METALHEADZ IMPRINT. THE RELEASE HAS ALREADY RECEIVED PLENTY OF KEY SUPPORT. RIYA DELIVERS AN INFECTIOUS VOCAL ON 'OPEN PAGE'.
* 'COINCIDENCE' HAS DETROITEY FEEL WITH A CATCHY VOCAL HOOK FROM JO S.

Split Album with one side Live from Candy Hanks. The Patrick Catani side is a joyfull crazy electro killer, dancefloor and fully musical. Sound is perefect in spitre it's a a LiveSet. B-side from Blenno Die Wurstbrucke Povera Sound brings some tunes made from Toybending and home made electronics instruments, pushing sounds and noises to chaos... bringing the industrial noise transe.

"Nausika are a duo, based in Leeds, that are quickly rising in the ranks pushing their own blend of dark, stripped back Drum & Bass. After meeting at University only a year ago, they have already caught the attention of many of the top flight; including Teebee's Subtitles Music. At only 21 and 19 years old, their future's bright, but their sound's quite the contrary."

IM:LTD kicks off 2014 with a murky Drum & Bass 12 inch release coming in the form of the 'Dubplate Specialist' Ep.
On the A side, Nottingham based producer SOUL INTENT returns to the basics with 'Dubplate Special', a dignified tribute to the sound system culture and our dub roots.
On the B-side, DERRICK & TONIKA, the lethal Ukrainian couple, deliver 'Session' a cinematic and groovy roller worthy of the gloomiest 70s film noir.
Deep & heavy sensation !

With releases on a slur of top labels including Invisible, Critical, Metalheadz, Subtitles & Dispatch, 2014 sees Hybris release his debut album on Noisia's Invisible imprint.

Entitled 'Emergence' the new album is set to cement Hybris as one of the most forward thinking producers of his generation.

Disc 2 Holds a remix of one jade's biggest tunes on citrus to date, BITCH.. none other then Audio has reworked this baby into a devastating track that insults ladies across the globe..

Following on from the debut 12' release on Sonata Recordings, we have Lincoln-based Soligen & Type 2 feat. Wednesday Amelia. They all collaborate to amazing effect on this record, bringing together all four of their individual flavours to the plate. Believe is a sure-fire summer liquid roller with dark techy basslines but subtle flavours of jazz and soul, with Wednesday taking the lead on vocals, and Ben giving her back up. Harmony is a stripped out vocal affair with head nodding percussion and top class vocals yet again from Wednesday Amelia. Both tracks shaping up to be massive this summer!

Tracklist:

After the massive success of GRUFF'S first release (voted No.1 video in NME)
the beast is now back for more!
Sugar Ray Lemon aka Saxxon (V Recordings) and Angela Rippin aka luSINda collaborated to make three of these tracks, which are already getting played by the likes of Steve Snooks, DJ Mala, Miss Pink and Loefah.

The GRUFF has mustered all its cunning and bad-intent, plotting and scheming to kidnap three more artists and torture them into submission:
THE GRUFFALO is an ode to Bill Murray. One of the 'victims' was forced to name her hero and watch Scrooged until her eyes bled!
MINATOUR sets the moodiness of this E.P. certainly not for the faint hearted and those near speakers should stand back to observe them catching fire!
THE JESUS reflects on 'The Big Lebowski'. Old Skool Dubstep filled with real movement and severe bass.
CHAMPION HOUND has a 'Champion Sound' feel but on a totally new tip; already smashing many dancefloors around Europe.

And finally, spare a thought for the victims of the foul monster, their very bodies and souls broken and re-moulded in his form... left muttering and confused apart from one word they repeat again and again......GRUFF!

* Digital has been prolific in the last 12 months and there's no stopping him! After hurting us all with 'Archive' he has plenty more in his locker and we're really privileged to have signed this 3 track 12'. 'Red Tape' is the type of track only Digital could make, while 'The Pain' has all the hallmarks of a man who knows his dub while 'Downtown' is a step back in time through his Reggae vaults.

* Dj Support from Fabio, Storm, Marcus Intalex, Skeptical, London Elektricity, Digital, Spirit, Shy Fx

* Limited to only 300 copies on 140g black vinyl.
