Wardown releases debut album on Blu Mar Ten Music

The emotive and eponymous project from Pete Rogers, of leading drum & bass outfit Technimatic

"It was my own countryside, and I loved it with an intimate feeling, though all its associations were crude and incoherent. I cannot think of it now without a sense of heartache, as if it contained something which I have never quite been able to discover".

Wardown is not so much a musical album as a diary of smeared memory; an account of physical, temporal, familial, musical and sentimental dislocation.

Created by Technimatic's Pete Rogers, the self-titled Wardown project uses his childhood home of Luton as a psychological fulcrum upon which he balances feelings of loss and yearning for the town, for now-passed family members and for the music of his youth which inextricably bound these things together.

"a ghost wandering in a world grown alien"

Embodying an ephemeral union with his Lutonian roots, the LP consists of mixtape cuts recorded from his teens, recordings of deceased family, clips from forgotten documentaries about Bedfordshire's rich free party heritage, recordings of brass bands and field recordings of the town-centre. The result is relentlessly beautiful, unashamedly personal and haunted with melancholy.

"Melodies bring memories,
that linger in my heart and,
makes me think of home and such"

Self-consciously littered with these recordings and other, deliberately familiar, samples, it would be easy to categorise Wardown as 'Jungle' in the flavour of early Good Looking / Lucky Spin / DeeJay Recs, but this would be to misunderstand the execution. Wardown is a resolutely modernist project, using these samples as memorial touchpoints through which independent narrative voices are introduced to the fabric of the work, layering a hazy, cinematic quality over the already beautifully evocative music.

Wardown is an attempt to capture what the Germans call 'sehnsucht', an "inconsolable longing in the heart for we know not what", (CS Lewis). Despite a profound sadness hanging over the album it delivers a collection of exquisitely elegant pieces that explore the complexities of physical, emotional and psychological drift.

About the artist:
Pete Rogers is half of D&B Duo Technimatic, releasing numerous albums on Shogun Audio and further singles on a range of other labels such as Good Looking Records, Critical, RAM, Hospital and Viper, garnering acclaim from the likes of Resident Advisor, Mixmag, Thump, UKF and tastemaking DJs such as Annie Mac and Giles Peterson.

Rizzle's debut album is a sonic exploration of twilight, that unique time when it's not quite dark and not quite daylight either. The area between light and dark and the relationship between the two serving as inspiration for this sensational LP.

Setting out to make a solid drum and bass album, Rizzle delivers 15 tracks that work both in a club and listening environment. With no intro/outro or fillers, the album takes the listener on a journey through light and dark. This concept is further enhanced individually within tracks such as 'Voyager', 'Pathways', 'Duality' and 'Tempest' - each demonstrating this contrast beautifully within each tune.

Along with 12 exceptional solo productions, Rizzle collaborates with Wingz for 'Pathways', Black Barrel for 'Blur' and GROUND for 'Gloom.' Each featuring guest producer adding their own flavour to the Rizzle magic, delivering their combined take on the concept of light and dark.

As releasing an album with Dispatch was a long term goal of Rizzle, we're proud to be able to bring you this impressive debut long-player from one of the drum and bass scene's rising talents.

Seren's Theme and What We Got feature all the trademark sounds and emotions that made the collaboration between Instra mental & dBridge work so well. Skittering percussion and lush chords blanket warm brooding bass layers with What We Got, featuring some classic dBridge vocals. Fans will have heard these out and about in mixes over the last 10+ years and now get to own them on limited vinyl and digital.

Marco Lazovic has been burning up dancefloors for over four years with his potent blend of house grooves and feisty jungle breakbeats, and so it continues on this new drop for Craft Music. "Dance System" is predominantly shaped out by gorgeous Detroit-inspired synths, but there's also some seriously spicy breaks choppage going off throughout the track. "The Dredwerkz" is a tight and punchy electro jam with plenty of melodic delights fluttering around the 808 drums, while "Daydreaming" gets further up the tempo range to outright ambient jungle a la early Good Looking. "End Theme" stays in jungle mode for an acute exercise in classic rollage.

Ibiza Records welcome's IQ Records to the famliy... Things don't get much more foundational than Marvellous Caine's original IQ imprint... A home to a whole gamut of gully slingers between 1994 -95.... Here is a 4 track EP 2 get dem jungle juices flowin...

KENDRICK001 is as the name would suggest a naughty release by an unknown artist. 2 rollers which are edited from 2 popular tracks. Beautifully orchestrated with touching vocals.

It's a common misconception that ambient can't be loud or make itself known. This couldn't be further from the truth, with some of the canon's most special moments coming when the beats drop and the overall atmosphere is a strange kind of expanded intensity - a sense of build without blatant intent or obvious destination.

The relatively short, but impeccably sweet Reality Used To Be A Friend Of Mine back catalogue is very much proof of this. One of a string of re-releases from the stable, here The Ambientist presents six tracks that veer from the opiate beats of '1', to the proto-jungle-tech of the deeply atmospheric '6', calling at loose Balearic rhythms, beautiful drones and crystalline acid house. Whatever you take from all that, don't forget to take it with you

"We’ve put off doing a remix album for a long time. Maybe it was conscious, maybe it wasn’t. But it’s happening now. That’s not to say that Butterfly 3000 makes the most sense to remix. It might seem like the obvious one, but it’s not. Yes it’s electronic. But so is a fridge. Have you tried to dance to Butterfly? It’s hard. It ties your shoelaces together. It’s duplicitous in it’s simplicity. But Butterfly 3001 expands on this. It also deviates and obliterates. We’re honoured to have such esteemed people go to work on these songs. We hope you love this album as much as we do. See you in Da Club!!!" - Joey Walke

Metalheadz and Grey Code are proud to announce 'Renewal', the debut Grey Code album set to be released in January 2022 which follows up from the UK producer's seminal EPs ‘Reprieve’ and ‘Helios’, as well as a critically acclaimed remix for Goldie’s ‘The Mirrored River’ and Beatport No.1 collaboration ‘Call In Me’ alongside Phase.

With a huge package of new music ready to be revealed to a fan base that has grown around Grey Code's deep, soulful and intricately woven rhythms, he’s once again set an enviable standard. The album positions itself perfectly within the back catalogue of Metalheadz, with the South coast born producer now an imperative part of the roster.

‘Renewal’ marks a continuation in Grey Code’s journey, one which has enabled him to tour internationally, from Austria to Japan, as well as everywhere in between. Flexing the razor-sharp production skillset which he’s become renowned for, ‘Renewal’ is another example of the young producer’s value. It’s a fully immersive album from start to finish, including the sounds of ‘Prima’ setting the pace whilst ‘Voyage XIII’ follows suit. Meanwhile, ‘Actress’ delivers the darker hues whereas ‘Nowhere Ever’ takes you back into Grey Code’s more emotive musical landscapes.

Finishing the album is ‘Primrose’ with its old-school breaks, alongside ‘Illiad’ which nods to its namesake through being sonically epic. Grey Code has constructed a work of art through his ‘Renewal’ album and it’s easy to hear within every track. As his music flourishes alongside some of the most renowned cuts to come through within drum & bass, he is becoming more and more notorious amongst its circles. With music like the type featured on ‘Renewal’, it’s easy to see how he’s one of the most hotly tipped artists coming through this generation of music creators.

This is the 1st release from Seba & Paradox since 2011. It carries the traditional breakbeat sound that the duo is known for, but with a sense of modern electronic music.
Delusions is a 'think break' based track with a monotonous beep that brings the thoughts back to minimal techno. The
sub on this track is very low! Make sure your system can handle it.
Future now is an 'amen' track with typical Seba & Paradox break edits and vocal samples. This track has already gained a lot of interest within old Seba & Paradox fans.

Austrian rising star Wingz with smooth and catchy vibes, and a smashing, rhythmic machine-like track by the Belgian Urph. Another excellent release by Trickdisc, a label always tending towards some counterstream in the search of the timeless gold.
