Beats Vinyl New Releases - News

Half Of Where You Live' is the follow up to Gold Panda's debut album 'Lucky Shiner' - a release that
garnered widespread acclaim and won the Guardian First Album Award on its release in 2010.
· In the three years that has passed since that album's release Gold Panda has toured extensively worldwide,
and his experiences can be seen as in influence on this record with track titles like 'Brazil' and 'Enoshima',
and the oriental sounding textures of 'My Father In Hong Kong 1961' and 'We Work Nights' capturing his
nomadic existence.
· The feel of 'Half Of Where You Live' is cosmopolitan, with each track possessing a different aesthetic and
environment.
· 'Half Of Where You Live' is released on Gold Panda's own Notown label, also home to recent releases from
Luke Abbott, Dam Mantle and Hannes Rasmus.

Special edition deluxe digipack CD. (Once this format has sold out, a standard jewelcase version -NOTOWN020CD - will be made available.)
Gatefold double vinyl (including download code).

Seahawks return once again with a supremely psychedelic dip into the ocean of sound. 'Aquadisco' was originally conceived as a 2 track 12' but spun out of control by a fast moving cyclone developed into an epic double vinyl journey to the depths.

It's not easy to put a tag on the kaleidoscopic sound contained within although 'Sun Ra jamming with Level 42 on a Caribbean Yacht produced by Conny Plank' comes close.
Spaced out aquatic afro jazz, interstellar lilo funk and new age disco are just a few of the ports of call.
A concept album of sorts, 'Aquadisco' imagines a time when instead of fleeing into space to avoid calamity, mankind is relocated deep beneath the waves.
'In the clubs there's a new sound...it reminds people of when they used to live on the surface, when they could go to real beaches and feel the warmth of the sun, taste the salt and feel the breeze in their hair. Now there are beaches under the oceans, in the vast pyramids where cities have been built there is everything you need but it's not the same....there are forests, rivers and sky....and of course nightclubs where people go to dream as they listen to the soft throb and warm tones they call Aquadisco'.
Time to take a trip into the deep.

On April, 20th the sixth Record Store Day will take place. Sonar Kollektiv has two very special goodies in store: There's the limited 300 copies 12inch of the Paskal & Urban Absolutes remix for Jazzanova's That Night.
The other goodie is a reinterpretation of Terry Callier's 900 Miles from 1968 by FETSUM. In honor of the soulfolk singer/songwriter, who sadly passed away in late 2012, the new stunning soul voice of Germany covers one of his all time favorite songs. A brave move which succeeded fairly and fittingly pays tribute to one of the most talentend musicians of our times. Sonar Kollektiv A&R manager Alex Barck is also a huge fan of Terry
Callier. After he recently has remixed FETSUM's Letters From Damascus so brilliantly it's a logical step to have him step in and turn FETSUM's cover into a club track. It's astonishing how Barck pushes the groove towards South America and still leaves air to breathe for FETSUM's voice .
Matt Karmil is less known as a remixer, but more as a versatile session musician and producer. For instance he played with Cee Lo Green, Siobhan Donaghy and Neneh Cherry and produced Portishead, Massive Attack, Sugababes, Patrice und Gorillaz. The fact that he now found some time to give an existing track his very personal note is Sonar Kollektiv's achievement and our luck. His delivery would even shine in the portfolio of, let's say DJ Shadow or Geoff Barrow. An outrageous attempt.

Soulstar proudly presents the long-awaited 10th volume of the legendary G Lounge Milano compilation. G LOUNGE is still milan´s most favourite lounge and not only during the Fashion Weeks the hotspot of the nightlife. As the previous parts 'G Lounge 10' was mixed by the G Lounge resident-DJ and the most famost italian radio discjockey for 'downtempo, lounge, jazz & deephouse' Marco Fullone from Radio Monte Carlo. CD1 features soulful, sexy vocal house. The yet unreleased anthem 'What is House by Jersey Real Estate feat. Jovonn, Harley&Muscle feat. Marshall Jefferson "We Groove U' (Dolls Combers Classic remix) and Fred Everything with "What You Say" and more are on this disc. CD 2 keep the sophistication, but raises the dancefloor pressure. The club hits 'Party Non Stop' by Pirupa and "Everything" (Mark Fanciulli remix) by Rampa feat. Meggy are on board, as well as the Sandy Rivera mix of Kings of Tomorrow "Let Me Tell You Something", and more.... !!

Scott Mou, known as one half of the duo Jane - the folk techno drone duo he had with Panda Bear - aswell as part of Manhattan's famous record store Other Music, debuts with his Soloproject Queens.

Johan Jacobsen describes the wonderful music of Queens "in oxymorons; "colorful monochrome," "myopic depth," "sad joy," "driven slowness," "enlightened darkness," "universal intimacy ' , "ethereal earthboundness" ... As it should be. Queens is one of those wonderful artists who are hard to catch on the fly, who escapes easy definition. His music is an unexpected and unimagined universe ready to be explored, and it's a universe that is wonderful to be in."

When Dial Records' David Lieske and Peter Kersten listened to a performance of their New York based friend in 2009, it was one of those unforgettable unique experiences you only have once in a long while these days. The idea of releasing an album was born. The production of "End Times" involved other labelmates such as Phillip Sollmann aka Efdemin (recording), Kassian Troyer (mixing) and Hendrik Weber, who once joined a life performance on stage with Scott Mou in 2012.

John Hughes Daydream is a project born in Brooklyn with one foot straddled across the east river to a 12th floor studio overlooking Broadway. BettingOn The Mouse' is the first international album by the Copenhagen and Berlin based band BettingOn The Mouse. A band which is more tha anything the brainchild of singer and songwriter Martha Marie Skou. With a background in various fields of the Copenhagen creative scene Martha Marie Skou is somehow the anchorwoman of the band with members Xian Foo , brother of Sharin Foo /Raveonettes (drums), Kristian Haarløv (guitar) and Jonathan Aardestrup (bass). Betting On The Mouse joined together in 2009 and have since played several concerts around Denmark. In 2011 their first EP 'BOTM' was released and applauded wildly by public decision makers all over. As one fine exapmple the Danish music magazine Undertoner wrote: 'It is early in the year, but I can already predict that 'BOTM' is competing to become this year's record. A truly excellent debut."'Bettingon the Mouse' is intense modern alternative pop , organic instrumented but with much love to electronic detail. With an almost brutal honesty the songs invite you into a universe of dysphoria, but lifted and driven by desire and playfulness. Martha Skous cristal clear seductive and charismatic voice brings her audience a sense of hope , yet celebration while the lyrics center around much of today´s everyday urge.... restlessness, passion, the fear of life slipping through yourhands, and the need to accomplish. Since ever then much effort has been taken soundwise and conceptual and finally yours truly, QuestionsAndAnswers, are happy to present you with the first full lenght , aptly named 'Bettingon the Mouse' which will be globally released in march 2013.

Fritz Catlin (ex 23 Skidoo) and Mr Diablo (ex Welfare Heroine/Pinky McClure and the Puritans) take a non-interventionist approach to making their reggae and funk fusions. In a world of computer fixed perfection they choose to be defined by their limitations. The spontaneity of the moment is everything!

Best Of Ibiza Lounge & Chill 2013 reached #1 on iTunes album dance chart and #9 on the main chart: available now the special version on double CD! Don't miss it!

it seems like young people in japan soon can't dance like crazy anymore because of the growing threats of the strange fuzoku law - one of the most surreal in japan's legal system which origins go back to 1948.
the law deals with restricting concerning the sale of sex and businesses of similar type. due to the ambiguous way of reading it the law also deals with nightclubs and related establishments that allow customers to dance.

For Fizzmann everything was blurry at first, and only after a little while, he was able to see clearly again. But he could remember anything about the car that hit him: It was an old, rusty van driven by a child or at least a very small person wearing a blue hood. "What a miserable little hit-and-run gnome! Looks as if even dogs have to face deadly risks every time they cross a road nowadays." Fizzmann's entire body was aching terribly: his head, back, tale and in particular his paws which he raised for closer examination. "Ouch! My poor little paws." He was horror-struck by what he saw: All his four paws smashed, broken, completely useless. Never again would he be able to play the piano or pick his nose again. Overwhelmed by grief and sorrow, Fizzmann wished he was far, far away, no matter where, only far away, and then cried himself to sleep. The last thing he noticed before he fell asleep were the faint silhouettes of two men, each of them having a remarkably beautiful, big nose. For the first two remixes of her album "Meine zarten Pfoten" (released on Pampa), and to add a certain ‚familiar smell', Ada pops by at Areal with none other than DJ Koze and Superpitcher who come up with remixes that couldn't be more different, and at the same time more wonderful.

The fourth release in this new chapter is bought to

delPurr & Eraser debut on BMTM with two slices of
beautiful, otherworldly dream & bass.
Fairytale:
Drawing heavily on the tradition of dark, Eastern
European children's stories, Fairytale fuses mutated
high & low vocals with dreamlike pianos and a
warping bass. Layers of lush, soundtrack synths
layer themselves over the tune like giant cobwebs in
a dense forest of clockwork percussion. Fairytale is
a magical blend of the bittersweet, the disturbing
and the sophisticated.

Reminiscent of....

Blue Hawaii, Arbutus Records and many of their Montreal counter- parts all began with the same breath in early 2010. To date Blue Hawaii has released an 8 song EP: in May of that year, Blooming Summer (Arbutus Records 2010) was recorded following the pair's travels in Central America. It frames a time of warmth and novelty, featuring dense female harmonies, tape saturated synths, guitars and drum machines. Eventually Ra- returned to her role in BRAIDS, touring constantly, while Ag- moved to Europe, treading deeper into dance music, electronics, and production. The two decided to make Untogether in 2012; they began recording on New Years Day in Vancouver and intermittently worked on the project until summer broke in Montreal. The music followed their winter in Canada, it became colder, more introspective. It again captured a time and place, but instead of a dense saturation of love and excitement, this record reflects the vast world of self-awareness and delicacy. It takes for its subject the question of belonging, despite overwhelming space. Musically, the production on the album is more spacious and physically it was recorded in separation. Despite this, it belongs together in its final form. It demonstrates successful creative process in a pair who composed apart, and in doing so it is a meditation on communication: how technology and art influence modern human relationships. It contains the vast space of two years passing, including watching their Montreal scene change as some launched into international success and others turned deeper inwards. Here, the album finds the conflict of separation/belonging to one's self and community. The duo notice that throughout the changing social and personal landscape which is one's twenties, these divided notions and people somehow stay together. Even the name Blue Hawaii suggests a kind of melancholic, jaded paradise, but a paradise afterall. It is because - or perhaps in spite of - these disjointed intersections that the record is called Untogether.

"His second album is simply beautiful, awash with delicate noises and yearning melancholy. We're willing to bet he wins this year's Mercury Music Prize." - NME

Fryars is the musical brainchild of London-based 22 year old Benjamin Garrett. First emerging as a teenager with a highly acclaimed set of self-released bedroom recordings that quickly picked up fans from Kanye to Depeche Mode.

Returning in October 2012 Fryars has set out his stall as one of the names to watch for next year with the romantically bleak but beautiful electronic pop of 'Love So Cold'. Now 'In My Arms' gives us a hint of what's to come in his forthcoming album: a darkly romantic vision that combines the harmonies and melodies of 70s California refracted through the prism of a crisply cutting edge London future forward production, a bass culture Beach Boys ballad that points the way towards what's sure to be one of the most bewitching and beautiful albums of the next year.

'In My Arms' will be available as a limited edition vinyl EP with artwork by Davy Evans.

Zsou bring their trademark sense of drama and dynamics to an intense rework of 'Walking Through Heaven's Door', a track that featured on Manzanera's album K-Scope. The choice of track and remixer is particularly fitting for the B-side. Pioneering Italian DJ Daniele Baldelli remixes 'Caracas', a track that had heavy rotation in the 'Cosmic' club that Baldelli DJ'ed at in the 1980's. The 'Mental' remix adds a sense of disorientation and heaviness that echoes the vibe of Baldelli's sets from Cosmic.

The third instalment of remixes features Tokyo Underground's finest, Cos/Mes, with rework of the experimental proto-electro track Big Dome that nods its head to the dancefloor whilst maintaining the balance of the original. The B side sees a special collaboration between LA heavyweights Lovefingers and Eddie Ruscha. Under the alias 'Secret Fingers', they deliver a tropical, blissed-out version of Manzanera's classic 'Islands'.
