Fresh off the back of their new album 'Puppets', Truth release their second single on DEEP MEDi, the long awaited follow up to 'The Fatman' released back in 2008 which announced their arrival to the Dubstep scene and cemented the trio as New Zealand's biggest Dubstep export. Part 2 of a series of limited 12' remixes taken from Scuba's 'Triangulation (Interpretations) Album. On this 12' Scuba's back with the old skool vibes on You Got Me (I Got You) but confidently skips the line by keeping it firmly in this moment. The listless beauty of Before is embued with a spine tingling warmth on Scuba's luscious opening re-edit, Before (After).

The sixth part in the All City Dublin LA EP series features the talents of Daedelus (Ninjatune / Plug Research / Laboratory Instinct) and fresh beat rocker, Teebs, whose recent vinyl debut on Svetlana Industries created a massive shift across the global web-watch. With this run now past the halfway point and looking back on split releases featuring Dibiase, Take, Ras G, Samiyam, Houseshoes, Carlos Nino and GB, to say it's one of the year's potential underground success stories is already a truism for yesterday's papers. Awkward Movements returns to release the debut from London's Dodger Man - one of the most talked-about new producers of the last 12 months. And with good reason. Dodger Man's multi-instrumentalist background opened the door for his high-profile sets bombed with back-to-back dubs of his own creation. His workings played-out live have gained him a reputation as one of the top emerging DJs, the height of which came following an impressive set at Bloc Weekend, after being hand- picked by Joy Orbison to share the bill. The natural alignment with Awkward Movements has served up his highly-anticipated debut record, and it doesn't disappoint. Marking Dodger Man's official debut, Mango Tree steps in where the underground bass sound's left off. Combining the same elements that pushed Floating Points and SBTRKT to the forefront in 2009 with the vibes that future garage has brought in 2010, Dodger Man takes it up with a deep bass rhythm, crunchy hi-end synth and drums for the decks and dancefloor. Bridging the gap between tech and dub, 2_12 is the stripped down evil-twin on the B-side. Take a complex 22 track and strip it to its core without losing it's personality and you've almost arrived. A uniquely complex tune - wanting to burst out but eerily contained in its black hole minimal approach of grinded synth stabs and one-shot styled drums.

The third release on Project Squared features on it's A side two tracks of Techno infused Dubstep from L-OW, an Estonian producer who has been building a reputation and discography since 2008 with a string of excellent releases. The first track, 'Pinpoint', has an energetic drive and pace despite it's syncopated individual rhythmical elements. L-OW fuses these disparate elements to make a dance floor track with impact and depth. L-OW's second track is Diver; a more reflective and introspective piece than Pinpoint, this is not a recording to play at the height of a set, but is more a piece focussed on mood and depth. On the B side, Bristol based artist Furesshu remixes Diver, taking elements of the original 140bpm Dubstep track and applying them to a 127bpm Techno framework. After a well received debut release on Project Squared that has garnered DJ play from the likes of Sigha , Marcel Dettmann and Ben Klock, Furesshu has produced a superb remix as a follow up. He strips back the original to a haunting, industrial, emotive melodic element, and drives the pace of the remix with cymbal lead drum lines and expansive bass. Funky house/breaks and nu-disco from Antwerp, Belgium

A strand emerging within dubstep is a mutant jungle strain within the sound. Needless to say, it's impossible to imagine dubstep without the DNA of jungle: it's prominent in so many ways and places, from Burial's Foul Play influences to Loefah's love of the sound itself. Members of the scene used to DJ jungle, from N Type and Kode9 to Jason, Transition's mighty mastering engineer. In fact the whole 'dark' component that makes dubstep distinct from UK garage has its roots in El-B's twin love of Metalheadz and 2step. Jungle is less an influence on dubstep, more like the foundation on which the whole scene, via garage, was built. But in spite of all that, a re-emphasis on jungle-flavored dubs is emerging within dubstep; songs that use chopped breaks, epic pads, and vocal samples like it was 1994, from producers LD and Cluekid. by Martin Clark
