There's been a discernible buzz about the amount of top-drawer dubstep records already released this year, illustrating the fine health of the sound in 2014. Alongside other torch-bearing imprints such as System, Artikal and Deep Medi, Innamind Recordings has played a notable role in delivering the heaviest beats from a globally dispersed set of talent, with January's joint EP from the Finnish connection LAS and Mikael still fresh in the memory. One of IMR's mainstay artists, Gantz, is obviously in unstoppable form. As well as being ferried about to Russia, UK, Germany, Greece and just about anywhere wanting to hear a real set of soundsystem-rooted originality, he keeps rolling out track after track of mind-blowing material, many of which are deserving of a special place in our collections. With that said, Innamind are hyped to be releasing IMRV009, a fresh Gantz riddim backed with his remix of a track by Bristol's finest, Lurka. The A side, 'Babyface', takes us to the core of why we love this music so much, the kind of internal organ re-arranging bassweight that when it drops on a decent system, you're compelled to turn to a mate and fire off a round of expletives, or simply stand there in shock, getting shaken from your feet upwards. It's got Gantz's sonic fingerprints all over it - drunken rhythms, quaint samples and looping vocals - and this one is sure to go down as one of his best. Flipside, it's hard to listen to Gantz's Refresher remix without a smile on your face, as, absurdly good as it is, its also entertains with a catalogue of sound-byte oddities, including managing to call Lurka out via the medium of a Viktor Vaughn aka MF Doom sample. The original was already a pretty abstract piece, and Gantz cranks it up a notch with skeletal, heavily-effected percussion clattering all over the place above taut sub-bass hits and the properly mangled remnants of a reese synth.

Being firm believers in striking when the iron is hot, Iberian Records waste no time in following up their successful return to the bass- heavy section of your favorite record store. After surprising listeners with an eclectic blend of styles on Tax Haven 3, the Peninsula's finest purveyors of everything bass-related are back for the fourth installment of the Tax Haven EP series, featuring cuts by a fine selection of unpredictable artists, including Geiom, Noaipre, Pacheko and Klipar. The renowned Nottingham-based DJ, producer and Berkane Sol label founder Geiom, showcases the unpredictability that led him to sign with diverse labels such as Planet Mu, Frisfjo Beats or Skam as he gets things started on a percussive mood with 'I Don't', a subterranean voyage through deconstructed breaks, bouncy bass and vocal chops, followed by the rolling beats and hypnotic low- end of 'Lost Monarch'*. A Coruña native and RBMA alumni Noaipre, one of the rising stars of a new generation of Spanish producers dedicated to appropriating the bass-heavy sounds of the UK underground (as we can hear on his releases for Arkestra and Alexander Nut's, Ho Tep), shifts the EP into second gear with his uniquely hedonistic take on grime, with the noisy, Street Fighter-sampling 'Yoga Fire', and roaring 2-step flex of 'Nitro'.
The Barcelona-based Pacheko channels the frantic changa tuki scene of his native Caracas with a soulful twist on 'Raptor House',further deepening the mood with the mesmerizing synths and tropical flavor of 'Is Like That'*, exhibiting the hybrid take on bass music that has found its way to the the catalogue of labels such as Enchufada, Shockout, Mental Groove and his own Abstraktor. Lisbon native Klipar (also known as one half of the Trouble&Bass-affiliated Zombies For Money duo and co-founder of the brand new Dissipate Records label) closes the EP by aiming straight for the dancefloor with the sub-heavy 808 beats of 'Wanna Take Them Out', before stripping things down and ending on a meditative mood with 'More Bass'.

The next release on Alter will come from Hackney-based electronic voyager Ralph Cumbers, aka Bass Clef. An expanded double vinyl edition of his acclaimed 2013 cassette Acid Tracts, originally released late last year via Cumbers' own Magic + Dreams label, its seven dense and immersive club tracks comprise his most expansive and multi-faceted work to date. They meld his modular synthesiser's hard-edged tones with grinding drum machine rhythms, traveling from the anarchic techno of 2012's Reeling Skullways album still further outward into the void. Acid Tracts represents the latest stage in the ongoing evolution of Cumbers' music. He first cut his teeth in Bristol mid last decade, crafting scuzzy takes on dubstep with an arsenal of analogue hardware and a trombone - an approach quite distinct from the software-based sub-bass experimentation of his then-contemporaries. In the years since, he's continued to follow a highly individual path, even as he's taken stylistic divergences towards cosmic techno (with Reeling Skullways and its subsequent singles) and the freeflowing improvised modular synth jams released under the Some Truths pseudonym. Acid Tracts is his first Bass Clef release to unite those two strands of his work, drawing the fluidity and instinct-led feel of his Some Truths music into tightly structured club tracks. With punning titles like 'Strings Of Death' and 'Apathy Flash', they play cheeky tribute to Cumbers' personal history and ongoing love of the atmosphere and attitude of rave, acid house and jungle. Throughout Acid Tracts the high-pitched, wriggling tones of his modular reimagine the TB-303's signature acid splatter in crisp hi-def, making for a dazzling and mind-altering listen. For the recording of Acid Tracts, Cumbers hooked his modular synthesiser up to a borrowed MFB Drumcomputer, before laying down the entire record's worth of tracks across the course of a single weekend. "In hindsight I'm not 100% sure how I made some of these tracks, of which noises came from what, of which cables went where, et cetera," he recalls. "I do remember it, though, as a special weekend of total solitude and immersion, with the moon rising high and shining bright into the studio windows." The one exception was 19-minute euphoric epic and album centrepiece 'Lower State Of Unconsciousness', which was originally recorded during the sessions for Reeling Skullways. For Alter's expanded vinyl edition of Acid Tracts, the original limited cassette release's six tracks are joined by an additional track recorded during the same sessions - the taut and drone-laden house of 'Music Sounds Better Without You'. Its full release on vinyl is an appropriate way to open what looks set to be a busy and important year for Cumbers, with this coming spring also seeing upcoming Bass Clef releases through PAN and Public Information, and the promise of future Some Truths material to come

Ode is a piece of haunting beauty, a wonderful interplay of delicate keys and strings with celestial vocals upon a slightly demented hip hop beat. Check! Closing the suite are the power moves of Tailing, a thumping, techno beast packed with Djrum's love for hardcore and select sampling.

Never shy of bringing new flavours to the table, once again it is time for Tectonic to introduce a new artist to their increasingly eclectic roster. Born and raised in London, Jay Fontaine aka Decibel later hopped over to Newcastle for a few years and now can be found based in Belfast. Jay is a producer with broad musical tastes and influences that have led to him making music that just doesn't quite fit in any one box. Over the four excellent EP tracks Decibel shows a winning ability to cherry pick the bits he likes from hip hop, crunk, dubstep, juke, hardcore, electro, pop, glitch, electronica and absorb them into his own world... in the wrong hands this could result in a right sonic mess, but Decibel brings these elements together quite naturally. The results are something along the lines of what might happend if Lil Wayne's producer Mannie Fresh sat down with Diplo, Girl Unit and Rustie to make a beat, fuelled only by Red Bull. While 'G.A.P.' and 'M.S.T.' take things along a bit more of a pounding hip hop / dubstep sub-bass line, 'Miss' and 'Gyal' see a more melodic and glitchy side come out. All four tracks are pure unique quality. Already this exciting producer is tickling a wide range of interested heads, with DJ and radio support coming in strong from the likes of Sinden, Mistajam, Benji B, Doorly and Toddla T as well as MJ Cole, Drop The Lime and many more... Get involved!

Exit Records proudly presents their 50th release, the new EP produced by the ever-evolving, highly influential and versatile Alix Perez. Both Exit's and Alix' names are synonymous with pushing boundaries in drum'n'bass, whilst consistently raising the bar for producers and composers globally. This new venture, titled 'U', is no exception. With features from DJ Rashad, DJ Spinn, and Stray, this EP perfectly displays Alix' abilities to create something completely fresh, heavy, gritty, classy, immaculate and brand new. Whilst this EP will certainly hurt your sound system, it is not just music to dance to. This is music for the most passionate listeners and collectors. This EP is Alix' foray into a hybrid of Juke, bass, hip-hop and footwork influenced style of drum'n'bass, with his own distinct London slant on it.
Each song (whilst completely different from one another), flows seamlessly, and need not be touched at any point. This is a
movement through all manner of sound and textures, and is a highly dynamic piece of work, which exemplifies longevity, and a
mastery of composition and production.

After a decade of club singles spanning bassline house, garage, grime and more, DJ Q releases his debut album.
Although he's been releasing club tracks since the start of the '00s, DJ Q had his breakthrough moment in 2008 with 'U Wot', one of the biggest tracks to come out of the UK's bassline house / Niche explosion. The years since have seen him hold down residencies on BBC Radio 1xtra and Ministry of Sound Radio, while releasing on Butterz, Unknown to the Unknown and Local Action. He's picked up some impressive admirers along the way too - DJ EZ, Mobb Deep rapper Prodigy and Skrillex have all shown their admiration for Q in recent years.
Ineffable follows four singles for Local Action (including the instant sell-out 'Brandy & Coke') and - let's get this straight - is a pop
record, albeit a pop record raised on MJ Cole, Todd Edwards, French touch and grime. This is 21st cenury pop way it should sound:at times devoted and at times desolate, sexually charged and made for the night. "Keeping two-step alive" - Noisey
"Cracking singles" - Pitchfork 'Downright fun dance music' - Mixmag "He rarely if ever puts a foot wrong." - Dummy
"One of Britain's most accomplished DJs and producers." - FACT
"On my favourite artists list" - DJ EZ "Very authentic and classy" - Sinden "Q always delivers" - Huxley "Ain't no one more garage than DJ Q" - Toddla T

Australia via New Zealand bass producer Scott McLeod made waves on this side of the pond earlier this year with the stand out 'Steppenwolf' in April on Keysound Recordings 'This is How We Roll' compilation. One of label boss Martin Clark's key players in his 130bpm sphere, McLeod then cemented his status as one of 2013's most exciting up and coming producers with a remix of Rabit's 'Wolf Spider' on Glacial Sound in June.
he has also had DJ support from the likes of Joe Nice, Threnody, Parris, Wen, Gantz, and Etch; Epoch is a producer to keep a firm eye on. However McLeod is not an artist who you can confine to a bpm; his signature swagger has been bumped up a notch for Soundman Chronicles' third release, '11:38 EP', with three stripped back atmospheric rollers. Epoch has revisited past territories for this release, which was inspired by a new crop of producers which includes Gantz, Kahn, Commodo and LAS. '11.38' applies an almost hiphop-esque groove to a sparse landscape of distorted vocals and foreboding melodies, which serves to occupy its own time and space; it as the weightiness of early dubstep productions but is not concerned with paying lip service to its predecessors. The A2 side, Numatik, begins with epic strings and western film dialogue which when drops, unexpectedly lures you in to darker dance floor territory and heavy sub bass. Reminiscent of classic 04/05 Dubstep but with a brand new feel. Gantz's Remix of Epoch's Steppenwolf rounds off the EP in an eerie manner; underpinned by sheer bass and pressure which gives the impression it could collapse under its own weight, juxtaposed with feelings of emptiness and space

Kicking off a busy year for Crazylegs, our first release of 2014 is a debut 12' of dizzying club experiments from one of the UK's most unique emerging producers, Gage.
'Remember the first time you heard Untold's 'Stop What You're Doing' and just froze 'Telo' has a similar effect' — FACT Magazine
Telo's stuttering kicks and skewed synth blasts have already become a staple in the sets of Slackk, Brackles, Logos, Murlo and Bloom. On the flip Shiftin ups the violence, reconfiguring a punishing drum track with all the rudeness of 8-bar grime. This release represents a full circle of sorts for Gage. Originally from South London but now based in Bristol, he cites a 2011 Crazylegs party as being a big turning point in his direction as a producer. Fast forward to 2014 and we're proud to be putting out his first record.
Gage makes his Rinse FM debut on 15th Feb with a guest mix on Brackles' show. Telo / Shiftin is out on ltd 12' and digital early March.

Kicking off 2014, 2nd Drop present a killer remix 12' of one of the standout tracks from Djrum's debut Seven Lies album, Dam.
Offered the entire album, interestingly both remixers chose the same track!
On the A-side, longtime friends of Djrum, Manchester's Akkord, take the entire toolbox to work with their intense and detailed
trademark darkside techno flex. Inspired by the original's mid track tempo change, Akkord employ incremental galvanized drums and percussive scaffolding to build towards a killer pumping crescendo. On the flip we welcome Felix K, the head honcho of one of Berlin's finest underground labels Hidden Hawaii, for his take on Dam. Felix's reinterpretation floats majestically between hypnotic Berlin techno and super deep drum and bass ala Autonomic. Stunning.

- 1: Compa & Ipman - Let Them
- 2: Compa - Earths Orbit
- 3: Compa - * Mystery Track *
Cassette Edition. Limited to 65 copies. Hand numbered. Features an uncredited bonus track.
'Let Them' is the lead track and a rare collaborative production between Compa and Ipman, a raw and spacious piece of music
which, like a psychedelic trip needs to be experienced with an emphasis on set and setting, tune in and exit.
The flip 'Earths Orbit' is a tune that pricked up the ears of the Boka gang the first time it was heard, especially as it not only reflects
back on the early sound of the label but gives fresh perspective on that sound too, a masterpiece from a producer who can seemingly
do no wrong.

'For years the comparisons between Swindle and Joker have been highlighted, and people always asked about a collaboration record. I wanted it to happen one day, but in the best way possible. When putting the line up together for our 3rd Birthday party we planted the seed uniting these artists for the first time live as the back to back headline set. Before the show, Swindle took the 040 National Express to Bristol and put together the intro track for the set later that night 'Let It Be Known'. Just as they started Skepta and JME turned up and jumped on the mic, and together they produced one of the greatest sets I have ever seen. Over 100,000 plays on the set later, the club that it took place in closing, and Swindle and Joker continuing their worldwide rampage, it is finally time to share Let It Be Known and Minors. With footwork sound Pushy! can express his electro personal tastes. And Pushy!'s motion really brings something to Footwork too.
His personal tastes are very early-electro influenced (D.A.F.)... In parallel his carrier evolution always tended to futur sounds...
Talking about tunes structures the style is OK to him and his way of not-to-be progressive. Full of changes and tricks, playing with the dancefloor, challenging the crowd, non-stop, again and again...
Sound textures are always thin, and full of creations, morphings and electricity : travelling from african's vibes to Amiga games.
All-in-one we got here a superb EP, generous in sounds, numbers of tunes and carrying a superb Sleeve from Madame Mental, the historical graphist, faithfully working with Pushy! since the beginnging !
Once again Kiosk brings a true story between artist and Label. BIG RESPECT !

Limited White Vinyl Pressing!
After the well-received launch of our label in June 2013, we are very proud to present to you: our second Hit 'n Run Music release!
Dubstep / Drum 'n Bass masters Sinister Souls are kicking the Break side off with an epic mix of oldschool drum 'n bass amens combined with newstyle hardcore kicks and snares! Make sure you stay on your feet after that first drop because "Make them Dead" will blow your socks off!
Production wizards of epic proportion Shimla & Evasive Maneuvers have brought us something special. From the moment we heard the first notes of "Hidden Depths" we fell in love with it. It's pretty relaxing but has hard snares, some industrial kicks in the distance and that unique vibe! But when you think you heard it all, out of nowhere it evolves in a swinging techno/electro track you just can't stand still to!
Hardcore titan Stormtrooper opens the Steady side with this 'to hard to handle' industrial hardcore track: "Energized" You will never be ready for this cause these kicks will almost make you go cry for your mommy as that tune in the background tends to reflect through your head! Proper Hardcore like it should be, goddamnit!!
Mental psychonaut Frixion Fanatic has to ability to put his raw energy directly into his fantastic live-sets. Luckily for us, he manages the same effect in his studio tracks. "Your Dimension, Not Mine" starts of pumping and soon you will fall in a deep abyss of sweeping synths. Only to return to the surface, but in what dimension

On loan from ASC's Auxiliary label, we are proud to have another release from the UK's Sam KDC on the Samurai schedule. 'Survive / Exist' is one of the most powerfully emotive tunes in the 85/170 bpm based genre we have ever heard. It's ducking mixdown accentuates the tunes depth as it fades in and out like an out of focus vision that you can't quite hold onto. 'Erogenous' continues the dream like state with shards of emotion floating through the tune leaving trails that draw you back again and again. Fantastic custom art from the talented Petra Zhivkova (https://www.facebook.com/petrascookiejar) complete this irresistible package.

New Moon Recordings' cornerstone artist Hatti Vatti is set to release his long-awaited debut album, entitled Worship Nothing, on 3
February 2014.
Having released a string of 12"s since 2009, Hatti Vatti's sound has previously flowed seamlessly between deep dubstep and a
minimal, Autonomic sound. Releases for Mindset, New Moon, On The Edge, and Absys have marked this Polish producer apart for
his cinematic take on bass-driven, dub-rooted electronic music.
Hatti Vatti closed 2013 with the release of Algebra, a stripped-down mini-album of Middle Eastern field recordings and ambient
techno for Nowe Nagrania.
Worship Nothing sees Hatti Vatti's artistic journey culminate into a single, coherent vision - a vision that is simultaneously spacious
and deeply intimate. A futuristic sheen of 80's nostalgia penetrates much of Worship Nothing, even within the familiar restrained dub
of "Struggle" (with Polish vocalist Sara Brylewska) and "Wonderful World" (with Irish vocalist Cian Finn). The organic synths remain In
"Treasure" and "72 Dub", though the rhythms become decidedly more manic, hinting towards the feverish feel of footwork while
remaining decidedly introspective.
Floating, haunted vocals pervade the half-step of "Tokyo" a shimmering collaboration with Manchester producer Synkro. Also
hovering around the minimal 170bpm sound are "Synthesis"
and "Black Flowers", which features vocals from Lady Katee.
Slowing down to a garage-tinted swing, "Nights" is yet another collaboration with a UK artist - Versa.
Throughout Worship Nothing, Hatti Vatti has created an atmosphere that draws the listener deep into his own world of beautifully
crafted beats, ambient textures, and sub-bass frequencies. Grab your headphones and float away...
