Beats Vinyl New Releases - News

Circus Records deliver yet again and this time they drop it with the almighty 'I Can't Stop EP'. As far as club anthems go, Flux Pavilion has done it again with this epic EP. Zane Lowe labelled this as the 'hottest record in the world' when he played it a few months back and its getting dropped everywhere by everyone.

Welcome to the world of Melted Dubs. A new label that will be vinyl only and all releases will be limited runs. Our debut is a tune that has been bubbling on the underground for a while a true clash of UK meets US. Rockwell takes the Cash Money Family (Lil Wayne, Birdman, Kevin Rudolf and the UKs very own International superstar Jay Sean) from the dirtee South to a whole 'nother place. Rockwell has been doing amazing things in DnB for a while now but this is something else. Soulful and Funky, Fast and slow. You feel the groove but can't quite place it. Already working for the few DJ's that have it. This is set to do big things. If you are not a vocal person there is a killer dub too. Enjoy and Be quick !!

We get a taste of the album on the sampler with electro x juke style tracks Thomp and When I Dip which have both been savaging dance floors worldwide over the last few months in the sets of DJs such as Loefah, Addison Groove, Craig Richards and Benji B amongst others.

Now joining Cargo's ever-lengthening register of exclusively distributed labels, Australian imprint Sub Continental Dub open their account with a reissue of this tremendous late 2009 EP from Deepchild, now fully available in the UK for the first time. Sydney electro-dub veteran Deepchild is a highly respected producer, DJ and live performer, and the two fresh tracks he delivers here both travel in an abstract, futuristic and dubby tech-house direction while retaining the deep-bass dancefloor pressure he is known for. 'Shameless In Seattle' picks up a loose funky thread, mixed with heavily chopped and screwed hip hop lyricism, reminiscent of Shadowhuntaz in parts, ricocheting through a dense backdrop of electro synths and insistent steppy sub-bass pulses while a garage squelch drives the gnarled mutant percussion. 'Wannado' is more downbeat and glitch-dubby, yet simultanously tense and sensuous, sending chunky drum breaks crackling through a hypnotic backdrop of detached house vocal refrains and warm Asian-flavoured synths. On the remix tip, Glagow's Gravious (of Hotflush & Highpoint Lowlife) unlocks the dubby grooves of 'Wannado' and edges closer to the centre of the dancefloor with a refined version that gives more room to the tracks' house elements, while his shuffling beats and rolling bass pull off a neat trick of suggesting a retro-garage feel at the same time as signalling a forward path. Rounding out the EP, Sub Continental Dub label boss and fellow Sydney producer Westernsynthetics rewires 'Shameless...' as a seismic two-step / dubstep excursion, darker-edged and more aggressive, which cleverly updates the early Detroit-influenced Warp sound for a moody and sparse heads-down number with tough kicks, distant grinding metal, and smartly applied sub bass.

Currently the biggest Grime producer in the scene, Spooky follows up the years biggest tune 'Spartan' with the DJ Oddz influenced 'Over Capacity'. By far one of Planet Mu's biggest singles for 2010. Rossi B and Luca are bastions of bass; long time DJs and producers spanning UK Garage, Dubstep and Grime for a while now, releasing music on their own Heavy Artillery label and a host of others, as well as mixing it up hard for everyone from Rinse FM to the Ministry Of Sound. The B-side features Killa P from Roll Deep who also MC'd on The Bugs classic Skeng alongside renamed the track Police Ar Come Run and delivers some vicious verses over the original riddim in his stentor Patois, which imagines a scene which wouldn't be out of place in the Wild West taking place somewhere in East London. E10 Riddim merges Grime's spiky aggressive energy with Funky house's slinkier beatshaking rhythms perfectly. With the help of some supple, rolling, live drum samples keeping the whole thing full of energy, the track is a perfect blur of fierce dread and upbeat energy.
