Juk Juk's Unwrap/Fall is the inaugural release on Nommos, a new label from East London. It is Juk Juk's second release following last autumn's critically acclaimed debut on Keiran (Four Tet) Hebden's Text imprint.

Local Action kick off 2012 with a pair of vinyl-only tracks by DJ Q, including the massively hyped 'Brandy & Coke' limited red vinyl pressing.

Jacques Greene starts 2012 with a 4-track EP on his brand new label Vase. The young Montreal producer had a fantastic 2011 with remixes for Katy B, Radiohead and massive support for his debut single 'Another Girl' coming from Pete Tong, SBTRKT and many more.

This 12" is the second on New Build's own imprint Lanark Recordings, and the first that is aimed resolutely and unapologetically at the dance floor. Part of a ongoing series of vinyl only releases on the label, this 12" includes two stunning remixes, one from German producer Dominik Eulberg and the other from Israeli born duo Juju & Jordash.

In the last couple of months the names Taiki & Nulight should have come across your paths. These 2 artists have been gaining respect from the likes of Skream, Benga, N-type, Mistajam (and many more) and are set to blow up any time now.

Taking us deeper into the night are the four remixes: London veteran Seiji fuses house and garage for a 6 minute roller, DFA's Juan Maclean delves into his deep house roots with his new Peach Melba project, London duo Compound One pay homage to Gabriel's UK garage roots with sweet old school 2 step and Hyperdub's Ossie turns in a decidedly trippy UK Funky hybrid.

Introducing "The Courts" 12", the first single from JAM CITY's forthcoming debut album, out later this year on Night Slugs. A double-A side release that showcases the two extremes of the LP's material - the sublime and the industrial.

The iconic Kool Keith's 'Drugs' gets placed on the Sugarcane Recordings Imprint for 2011. An idea spawned from Ninja Tune's Amon Tobinand Doubleclick to place the anthem on rhythmic experiments similar to those of their recent breakthrough Two Fingersproject. Metallic drums, cataclysmic synth sounds, shattering glass, all while Kool Keith preaches on the use of drugs in pop culture. It works in a big way.

After a series of parties in London, Wavey Tones launches its premier platter in the form of the debut release from 25 year old Putney-based producer Emma Davies, who hails from Merseyside.

With the release of his eagerly anticipated album 'The Politics of Envy' fast approaching (due March 26th), Mark Stewart has announced his first single 'Autonomia' a no-holds-barred collision with long-time fans Primal Scream.

It has been remixed by two heavyweight champions of the underground, Pinch and JD Twitch. Pinch loads up on dark and brooding, with a stripped and dubby Shackleton-esque interpretation, while Twitch opts for a warped and slo-mo, acid-licked stomp. Both offering, deliciously moody interpretations of the first single from the upcoming Mark Stewart album 'The Politics of Envy'.



'Autonomia', a dense agit-protest superfunk monster with sirens and Bobby Gillespie's frenetic 'keeping the dream alive' call-and-response chant with Stewart who explains the story behind the song - 'I'd written this song about a guy called Carlo Giuliani, who was killed at the G8 demonstrations in Genoa, this kind of autonomist bloke. At that point, it was kind of like a protest song ... afterwards I started getting on with Bobby, who was interested in politics and I asked Adrian [Sherwood] about doing it. It's important that people hear about the story, it's the message and the atmosphere as much as anything.'



Stewart's scathing political barbs with the Pop Group and beyond, heavily informed Primal Scream's ferociously politicised Xtmntr and other works. With the intensity of Stewart's latest body of work back to red alert, this apocalyptic collaboration, made possible by the two camps' lengthy associations with Adrian Sherwood, has been further honed into a heat-seeking radio edit.

7 tracks on the new Lowriders release and it's a real joy to listen to! The ep opens with the cheerful title track with the likes of Kissey on vocals and it is amazingly sticky and feels like a compendium of 30 years of electronic music, with seemingly effortless transitions between detroit house, booty bass and future music.

Following the huge success of xxxy's summer anthem 'Open Your Eyes', Orca Recordings is back to deliver its highly anticipated fifth instalment; which sees Canadian born artist XI return to the label for his third release on the label.With his new outing on Orca, XI's musical style has evolved considerably to incorporate a whole new set of influences and ideas. This bold move coincides with his imminent arrival in Berlin, which leads us to proudly announce that the productions set for release in the Orca series are 'Immunity' and 'Squeeze'.'Immunity' sees XI venture into new sonic territory, dropping the bpm to a tempo usually applied to house & techno, but this track keeps all the swing and swagger of the finest UK garage record. This combined with XI's trademark palette of sonic textures, vocal edits and a nod to the haziest of west coast hip-hop has created a deeply original composition with a unique vibe.On the flip, 'Squeeze' is another experiment into this freshly styled structure that XI has created, but with the dance floor more in mind. The introduction breeds tension as the drums roll from side to side, before a patterned vocal stab is brought in to focus the main body of the composition.Both of these productions are a clear indication of XI's creative flair and taste for new sounds. Allowing this to develop has been the primary focus of Orca and this ethos is now starting to pay dividends to all fans of the Orca Recordings catalogue.

On the A side we find Estonian Dubstep don L-OW (PROJECT:squared, Z-Audio, On The Edge) tackle 'Listen to Me' in formidable atmospheric fashion whilst Disgu!se themselves weigh in at 120 BPM on the AA for a minimal Tech House rework of their song 'Camera'. This is the first release on Disgu!se's own Heartfelt Records imprint, with more releases due in 2012.

After almost 2 years of serving slices of their idea on cutting edge house music on a solely digital basis, the belgian Silverback Recordings now releases its first vinyl... On 'EP 2 polish producer The Phantom demonstrates he's a master at creating a soulful, genre-bending, futuristic blend, whilst paying homage to rich Chicago, UK garage, and Detroit traditions, to name but a few. On the A-side 'Ceremony' starts off on a smooth hip hop flavored tip, before brilliantly building bridges to piano driven house. 'Gothic' holds tight to hybrid thoughts with its melodically mutant, starry-eyed take on grime. The B-side sees an ever-escalating 'Voyeur' balancing a fine line between languid safe havens and the abyss of syncopated chaos. The Phantom affirms he's in control though, as he steps back a few paces on 'Colossus', and serves funked up, eighties evoking, electronic jams as a discursive ender to this trippy four-tracker. Former Mattafix frontman Marlon Roudette will commence his solo career with the October 24th release of his debut EP 'Riding Home' on Warner Bros. Records.

Sometime you can't keep a good remix down, and we certainly felt that with these two beastly versions by two very exciting producers of bass music.First up is an exciting producer 2nd Drop have been talkin to for over a year now, Atlanta's Distal has been making a lot of noise across the bass scene with releases on Tectonic and Alongside putting a vast array of music on his own Embassy Label. Inspired by Gerry's original, Distal has produced something truly brilliant. In stark contrast to the sublime Youandewan remix and Gerry Read's killer original, Distal grabs the key elements and transforms them into an awesome juke workout. Drawing on an arsenal of stunning original features, this hyperkinetic version is bursting with character, energy and colour.On the flip, we welcome back Sully, who first saw wax on 2nd Drop with the anthemic Give Me Up in mid 2008. As a big fan of 23hz & Numaestro's original, Sully asked to remix Zumo soon after it's release in early 2009. Failed hardrives and a quiet 2010 for the label sadly meant this remix with its shifting syncopated beat patterns and moody El-B-esque swing, was sat on. Until now. Beautifully placed to carry on the Sully sound after his critically acclaimed album on Keysound in September, this long overdue remix now gets the release it deserves. Coincidently, the artist on both of the original releases was our mysterious Portugese illustrator and graffiti activist Uiu. So in the spirit of the release we asked him to remix both the original illustrations to create a new version for this release. The featured art ensued. Slightly bonkers, but amazing!

Headman's Be Loved surfaces from Relish's recent label round up Compilation 3. The taught 808 foundation of the track is supplemented with heart swelling synth lines that unfold eventually into an upbeat electronic pop song repleat with live bass and swirling strings. Vocal duties are supplied by Rosie Blair, known to some as vocalist for Moon Unit, and one half of the duo Boy of Girl with Paul Mogg (formerly of the Psychonauts). The song steps a fine line between electro, synth pop and the electro/ acoustic dualism of Wide Boy Awake.

Since the slew of EPs that had us and more raving about the UK Funky producer in 2008, Roska has gone from strength to strength, touring America, and releasing his debut album, Roska on Rinse FM's label. Now he releases an EP by fellow upstart DJ Naughty on his Roska Kicks & Snares label. DJ Naughty is the fresh young sensation hailing from North London, England. He is very popular with in the UK music industry and it is said that he is responsible for introducing Funky House to a much wider and younger audience. In 2007 DJ Naughty became one of the must have DJs for any big event and regularly featured at Garage Nation, Climax and Garage Fever. He is also a resident for Female Skanker and spent the summer of 2007 in Ayia Napa 'Tearing down the island' as a raver so nicely put it.

There's no doubt in anyone's mind that 2011 has been an incredible year for Mr. Julio Bashmore. A string of stellar EPs on an array of prolific labels have led to this beautifully filmic piece of house music that closes an equally compelling year for Futureboogie Recordings. 'Riff Wrath' is a perfect embodiment of Bashmore's fluid modern soul and understated drive with a dusty haze of of cosmic strumming.

The next release coming out of the Roska camp is this smart vinyl-only followup to the Roska Allstars release. This second instalment brings more of the same versatile movements from some fantastic producers currently leading the way for upfront danceable material.

Following drops for Sneaker Social Club, Domino and Alex Nut's Ho_Tep label, Throwing Snow makes his debut on Local Action with an ice cold three-track EP.
