Born In Flamez - Polymorphous Ep

Optical glass pyramid with engraving, including download code!!
Born In Flamez. A Self without binary soul, post-physicality reborn as heat and sound. Through an ever-evolving live performance built around reconceptualized pop spun through grimey industrial electronics, s/he seeks to breach the line that separates mind and body. A connection, an act of new creation— Self, born again in flames of Will.

Shaddah Tuum - Merkabah / S-ninyourhead

* One color screen-printed PVC sleeve. Marbled vinyl. Artist edition of 300 *

* Twin stars, each fueled by the other's heat—burning together in the endless void of space. The shattered duet of their shared voices echo back to each other, a sonic bridge forged of shared pain. What worlds their black radiance illuminates are bathed in the storm of their aura(l)s. This is the agony and the ecstasy of Shaddah Tuum.

* The mysticism of the Merkahbah: a gateway to another realm. Tibetan percussion hammered against stuttering bass into a shroud of ascension, the organic transmogrified into antimatter between grinding synthetic teeth. The guiding voice of ascendance promises the Great Gift that only the loss of flesh may bring—'Silence...'

* When the dissolution of Self occurs, when you have been absorbed into the blind and chaotic wisdom of Eternity and the sun in your head is snuffed out, order may be found in these incantations.

* Dadub's liquid cold burns across the Merkahbahtic portal, offering a new world—one of descent rather than S-nInYourHead ascension, spinning headling into depths as crushing and black as a star's birthplace.

* Twisting further downwards, the hand of Kerridge corrupts both gateway and guide into a looming smear of entropic hatred. This is the sound at the center of the universe, a wail of eternal birth: terror, confusion and pain.

Dream Weapons - Pathways Ep

A few words by Stefen Bennemann: »I was in loose contact with Aggelos (Dream Weapons) for a few years, watching him from a
distant with great interest. In 2012, he sent me his debut LP on Inner Ear under his Fantastikoi Hxoi moniker and it quickly became my favourite album of the year. When I told him our plans for Holger he sent me some of his more electronic-leaning music. I was instantly captured by the driving, trippy kraut techno songs which show homage to the psychedelic sounds of the 60s and 70s while holding their own in the here and now. Exactly our cup of tea.«

Walking through the sky...
Five years ago Christian Naujoks, Peter M. Kersten and Richard Von Der Schulenburg started a series of spontaneous recording sessions without any intention or idea. The only thing what held the group together were the immediate results hitting the three musicians straight inside their hearts. Jazz as a metaphor of instrumental conversation, improvisation in the most dillettant way, science as a matter of exploring the opposite sound of what instruments were built to — these might be parts of a concept where there was none.
Evangelisti & Ennio Morricone, Gerard Grisey and the school of GRM, Psychic TV — none of the influences of Naujoks, Schulenburg, Kersten inspired the sound of Sky Walking as much as the rotten studio in a backyard of a record store in Hamburg, including a definitely weird collection of instruments, some russian microphones and the saddest sounding steel drum.
Even their solo careers are seperated from what became an album yet: Richard von der Schulenburg — the magician of keyboards who is part of the Pudel Apparat and piano player in the 440Hz Trio (ft. Jacques Palminger) released a couple of vinyl records and a tape under his moniker RVDS. Christian Naujoks recorded the second of his two albums at the Hamburger Laiszhalle with the legendary producer Tobias Levin. Both of his longplayers came out on Dial Records — the label Peter M. Kersten founded almost 15 years ago. Kersten is much better known as Lawrence for his countless releases on Smallville, Mule Musiq, Kompakt, Styrax, Ghostly International.
The artist's history plus endless inspirations Forget about it! Here comes Sky Walking..

Simian Mobile Disco - Whorl

Every musician needs to take action to keep themselves fresh from time to time, but James Ford and Jas Shaw of Simian Mobile Disco have really gone to extremes this time: they've completely abandoned every tool they previously used to make music. For the recording of their new record, Whorl, they've started from the ground up and created an entirely new electronic system, and recorded everything entirely live, from scratch. Over the years - as members of the criminally underrated 'prog-psychedelic band' Simian, as one of the UK's finest electronic duos, and individually as esteemed producers for other acts - James and Jas have accumulated mountains of incredible vintage synthesizers and other general sound-making boxes. Limiting themselves to two suitcase-sized boxes each - no laptops, no racks of hardware, just one synth and one sequencer each - they headed into the high desert of Joshua Tree National Park in California and recorded Whorl in front of an audience.

The result is something that takes you right into the heart of their creative processes, veering from completely abstract ambient explorations through buoyant repetitions that float into the territory of the most cosmic German and Italian synth explorers of the 1970s and 80s, then take flight into otherworldly techno grooves. It's not a sound that punches you in the face with its newness or weirdness - the album draws you in gently with the truly beautiful airborne, beat-free opening passage of 'Redshift' and 'Dandelion Spheres,' and each track thereafter is subtle, rarefied and elegant. Says James, 'Whorl can be taken as one long piece, because in the performance of it, we've gone where the processes we've set up have taken us.' And he's completely right - it's as a whole that Whorl comes to life and really opens up its secrets and surprises. It's a truism that you should expect the unexpected from SMD, but this time round you can be damn sure of it, as they've created a system to ensure that it's precisely the only thing you can expect.

Various - Interpretations On F.c. Judd

In January 2012, Public Information released a 35 track compendium of F.C. Judd's music and sound, called Electronics Without Tears. Fast forward to Spring 2013 and they are back with Fred for a very special LP to re-ignite his legacy.
For their tenth release, Public Information asked some of their favourite artists working today to submit a reinterpretation of the greatly undervalued electronics pioneer, Frederick Charles Judd. With the entire archive of Fred's sounds, tone experiments, field recordings and lectures to work from, they were left to produce an audio artifact befitting of Judd himself. The players invited: Chris Carter, Perc, Pye Corner Audio, Holly Herndon, Mordant Music, Peter Rehberg, Bandshell, Ekoplekz, The Boats, Leyland Kirby, Karen Gwyer, Ian Helliwell.

Interpretations On F.C. Judd opens with Fred himself, welcoming us into his world before Ian Helliwell takes us into a fractured loop of radio static and gargled musique concrete. From here we lurch through pure tape trips (Leyland Kirby, Chris Carter) dubwise refractions (Karen Gwyer, The Boats PCA), haunted never-zones (Ekoplekz, Mordant Music, Perc), sublime vocal deconstructions (Holly Herndon) and frightening slashes of electronic deviance (Peter Rehberg, Bandshell).
Throughout inspirations, Fred is never far away, reminding us how important visionaries like him stalk even the most future-bound of electronic music.
Mastered and cut by Rashad at Dubplates and Mastering, Berlin.
500 only, on white vinyl

Rrose & Bob Ostertag - The Surgeon General

Limited white vinyl repress! Sandwell District's Rrose launches a new label with a follow up to "Motormouth Variations," last year's unlikely collaboration with legendary improviser and synthesizer pioneer Bob Ostertag (named one of 2011's top 50 albums by The Wire magazine). For the debut release on Eaux, Rrose searched through Ostertag's cassette archives to discover a lost gem of studio improvisation from 1977. "The Surgeon General" sees the barely post-teen Bob Ostertag exploring feedback techniques with an early Buchla modular synthesizer, tape delay, flute and violin. The results are uncharacteristically moody, spacious, and well ahead of their time

Cut Hands - Festival Of The Dead

Cut Hands

Festival Of The Dead

2x12inchBLACKESTLP010
BLACKEST EVER BLACK
09.10.2014

It is said that the gods of the dead demand you ritualistically commit to each intensely hot beat of the ceremonial drum. Now, here, is the music for their celebration of death, music to dance together with, to oblivion, a music both spectacular and ecstatic where, like never before, the spirits of santería and vaudou mix with raw electricity into burning diabolical polyrhythms. We here present Cut Hands and Festival Of The Dead. This is Cut Hands' third album to date: the acclaimed Afro Noise I introduced the project in 2011, and 2012's Black Mamba expanded its feverish vision, preceded by a single of the same name on Blackest Ever Black. 2013 saw the release of the similarly fiery 'Madwoman' and 'Damballah 58' 12"s (on Downwards and BEB respectively). Festival of The Dead is without doubt the most potent distillation yet of Cut Hands' malign percussive energy, with pieces like 'The Claw' and 'Vaudou Take Me High' leading the irresistible polyrhythmic assault, in pursuit of one thing: a final rapturous celebration of oblivion. Written and produced by William Bennett. Original veve artwork by Mimsy DeBlois. Mastered by Noel Summerville. 2xLP (BLACKESTLP010) housed in high gloss gatefold sleeve.

Fuxa - Dirty Frequencies

Emotional Response welcome Detroit's Fuxa to the label with a mini-album that takes their trademark pyschedelic guitar and synth instrumental rock and showcases the more spiritual and ethereal creativity running within. Specially curated from Fuxa's two recent digital only albums - "Dirty D" and "Frequencies for Physical, Mental and Spiritual Healing" - this special 8 track selection sees each album represented on one side of vinyl. Highlighting band leader Randall Neimann's talent, a mastery of the studio that creates a wall of (mellow) sound that envelops and encases in equal measure. While very much Randall's band, the colloborative nature of the project sees numurous artists appear, with members from Mazzy Star, Add N To (X), Dean & Britta, Spiritualized and founding member Ryan Anderson all providing willing support to seek his primal sound. Noteworthy too is his first appearance as lead vocalist. It is the uplifting to hear his voice on the celebratory Shout Out Loud, the paean of Dream (Don't Give Up) and finally the blissedout-surf-psychedelia of Amen. Dirty Frequencies is a welcome departure for the label, a pyschedelic turn in the mold of the Nick Nicely (ERS005) release, but all the better for it because these sounds and ideas deserve to be heard. An inner trip yes, but really a celebration of the deeper part of the soul - a way to connect.

Itavayla - Black Diamond Express (feat. Jori Hulkkonen)

Itäväylä's driving power Randy Barracuda is best known from Finnish electro bass duo Imatran Voima (Telle) as well as acclaimed Keys of Life floor filler Cae$ar (Life12in-9). On Black Diamond Express Randy gets together with three guitarists, bass and a synth and the result is an incredible beer smelling boogie train Itäväylä. Itäväylä combines machine reinforced monotonic psycho rock on the track of Spacemen 3 and Motörhead with straight Texas trailer park boogie. Black Diamond Express is based on a twisted accapella taken from a found tape of 50's gospel ceremony. B-side is a remix by Jori Hulkkonen.

Bj Nilsen, Stillupsteypa & Anla Courtis - Golden Circle Afternoon

Recorded and mixed in Berlin, Reykjavík, Buenos Aires 2013
Artwork by Helgi Thorsson, Bj Nilsen & Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson
Layout by Jeroen Wille
"here back in Buenos Aires after more than three months touring...so nice to slow down and relax a bit."
Those were the first words coming from an email from Anla after
another long tour around Europe but there had been many other tours.Day 10. After a long train delay in Mannheim we were confused and exhausted and not remembering where the next destination would be.
Mannheim had only offered a hard floor as bed and no sheets, and this is in the middle of winter time. Of course this experience gave us the idea that we should or more precisely MOST do a record together which concept would be: Travelling. Like an audio travel guide. Plus we are all big fans of the Travelling Wilburys. We thought this idea to be one of the best one on this tour so far. In the train we were listening to Future Days by CAN.
Day 4. Moving backwards a bit here. We caught Anla working on
recordings in his hotel room. This was in Stockholm and one of the better paid gigs, with hotel rooms for all of us.
Anla was interested in the sound coming from the heater in the bathroom. So he started recording it´s sound using a dictaphone. It sounded really interesting and was made into a long fade at the nights gig in Stockholm.
That same sound you can hear on the record.
Day 6: Copenhagen: Here traditional town flavors, located bookstores can be found all around. Beer capital town some might say. Weather was not on our side and the trip took close to 12 hours but was all worth it.
I think it was Siggi saying something along the lines of: "Expensive but worth it!"
Helgi also remembering that time in the late 90s when touring with
Reynols. Back then we did gigs with small card paper boxes as main sound source.
Day 8: The Keukenhof Gardens, Leiden, Holland. We decided to invite some local musicians to the bar, as we had a few days off we took advantage of doing a few outtakes. Some of it appears on this record but we can't tell you where as the track listing got mixed-up by the recording engineers.

The Stranger: Bleaklow - History Always Favours The Winners

One of the most destitute and absorbing albums in Leyland Kirby's canon is finally given a much needed vinyl pressing, following on from its initial CD release 6 years ago. 'Bleaklow' is harrowing from the start, the opening 'Something To Do With Death' reverberating dread via layers of unstable, radiant drones punctuated with pained, hi- pitched howls that cut through the mix with violent intent.

R&S Records
06.10.2014

Paul White has long established himself as an acclaimed hip-hop producer, but on his debut LP for R&S Records he expands his horizons with the most personal music of his career to date. With the sampler laid aside, the South Londoner emerges as a multi-instrumentalist, singer and producer as he charts the intoxication, heartbreak and ultimate triumph of a grand love affair.

Shaker Notes is White's fourth album as a solo artist after he made his name in 2008 with the oddball cult classic The Strange Dreams of Paul White, but his first for R&S. The legendary Belgian label is a natural home for someone whose musical world was blown wide open by Aphex Twin's 'Xtal' as a teen and while he has not turned his back on beats, this LP marks the true emergence of a remarkable artist.

Pawn & Calculon - Larchmont Incl. Om Unit Remix - Purple Vinyl

The scene is buzzing about the new uptempo sound of Shoot Recordings. Beyond juke, beyond jungle and definitely beyond classification, Shoot Recordings represents the next evolution of bassmusic, energizing dancefloors and thrilling headphone jockeys at the same time.

For the new year, Shoot comes correct with yet another monster that no outdated genre is big enough to to hold.

They call it Larchmont. From Pawn and Calculon, two dons of the next level, Larchmont roars out of the gate with b-boy flair and classic jungle breaks. But after the drop it's something else entirely, a two-step roller with a juke stutter that builds and builds and until it goes off the rails in a fucking blaze of glory. In the cold heart of winter, Larchmont is a flamethrower of uptempo action to ignite your night.

And then there's the remix from Om Unit. Perhaps no one pushed the bassmusic envelope in 2013 as hard as Om Unit, and his remix of Larchmont continues the trend, flipping the original into a dubbed out half-stepper that starts mean and gets more rugged as it goes. This is dubby, deep-space funk like only Om Unit could do it, but with a Shoot Recordings sheen. The fatness.

Erik Truffaz & Murcof - Being Human Being

Mundo Recordings proudly presents the new album release "Being Human Being"! A new collaboration between Erik Truffaz and Murcof, with a special artwork by Enki Bilal.

Art is the product of singular vision, but singularity is often enhanced when the 'artist' is plural. Swiss trumpeter Erik Truffaz has worked with Mexican-born sound artist Murcof (originally Fernando Corona) since 2006 when they worked as a trio with Talvin Singh. That fruitful relationship brought together Truffaz's investment in modern jazz (he has been that archetypal thing, a Blue Note artist), a sharp ear for the new discoveries of contemporary composers like Giya Kancheli and others in the eclectic world of new music, and developed a creative conversation with the world of noise, glitch and spectral electronics that is the abode, though by no means isolated abode of Murcof, who is an arch-collaborator, the kind of artist who seems most himself when in dialogue with others. That relationship was suddenly broadened and lent fresh intensity when in 2012 Truffaz met the charismatic Enki Bilal, painter, illustrator and creator of the 'Nikipol' sequence, an man who can conjure a whole world with a few strokes of pen or brush, and imply a whole narrative in a facial expression or modification of the body. It was inevitable that when these men came together, that extraordinary work would ensue. That work is the multi-form piece BeingHumanBeing, which exists as recorded event, as film collage and as the basis - the score, if one likes - of further performances. Its subject matter is clearly stated in the title. If homo sapiens is a singularity in planetary evolution, these are the men best qualified to peer over that event horizon and into the strange world that is our collective future.

Anfs - Ground Ep

Ground Ep

12inchMA07
Modal Analysis
01.10.2014

The seventh Modal Analysis release comes from Athenian producer and DJ, ANFS. Following his remix for Kondaktor's Signal #1 , ANFS returns to the label with his debut release, 'Ground', a four track EP which consists of original material. Borrowing sounds from early twentieth century folk Greek culture, the EP is dominated by a rhythmic canibalistic spirit and a noisy distorted cue. Ground #1 functions as an introduction, or rather one's initiation to the mystic rituals that prevail. The artist uses drones and distorted textures which increase in Ground#2
and are backed up by drums that beat in a hard-and-slow ethnic tonality. Ground#3 reveals a paroxysm of emotions which comes as a result from the combination of basslines and vocals that create a complex and twisted vortex. The trip ends with Ground#4, a more stripped down monotonic ensemble that serves as an epilogue and a catharsis.

Kidkanevil - My Little Ghost

A bright and colourful scenery: Shrill blinding sights, piercing foreign sounds, a fusion of disparate scents blended into a cocktail of curiosity. Fleeting attempts embrace a thousand senses in one single second. Bustling around in the shadows of buildings as high as mountains, an almost eerily overwhelming sense of contentment is omnipresent - but something doesn't appear to be right...

Stranded on a lonely island in the midst of a chaotic metropolis, disconnected - a feeling of drowning in an ocean of overstimulus and importunities of disproportionately inflated personalities, without ever even being registered or taken notice of.

What's left is nothing more than the ghost of a young soul, wandering about and curiously studying the surrounding, forever looking for answers that would otherwise seem trivial.

After "Kidsuke" the critically acclaimed collaboration project with Daisuke Tanabe, "Tokyorkshire" based producer kidkanevil continues his fascination with Japan and readies his latest solo album My Little Ghost. Inspired by a summer spent in Tokyo collaborating, exploring and generally refusing to grow up, the double vinyl is due May 2nd on Project: Mooncircle and features a wide range of guests including PMC's own submerse and Tokyo vocalist Cuushe.

The next Bleep release comes in the form of Spaces' debut EP, 'One' '- rhe debut EP from the hugely talented new-comer Spaces.

Showcasing a wide range of styles and production talent, the EP opens with the frantic rush of beats and hushed voices of 'Apologies' before a reese-like bassline slices through the mix, coming across like a darkside SND remix. Next up is 'Outside In' bridging the gap between EDMX style electro-funk & Gescom-style glitch. On the flip we are presented with 'Lever', a broken techno track of the highest calibre, chopped snares and a off-kilter acid line whipped together to devastating effect while the EP's coda, 'In Wait' combines a kaleidoscope of beats transported through an ambient techno mainframe before fading into oblivion.

Sounding like no other, this new artist makes his mark with clean rhythmic programming set against dirty compressed textures. The first in a series of releases; expect to hear a lot more from Spaces.

The vinyl edition is limited to 300 copies worldwide.

The fourth release on the Liminal Sounds label is the 'Physical' EP by Berlin-based DJ and producer She's Drunk. The record is his first on the label, following two EPs on Leonizer Records. Featuring three very different but equally effective approaches to the dancefloor, the new record draws upon elements of jungle, grime, dancehall, hip hop and RnB, showcasing She's Drunk's intricate and energetic take on club music.

"A-side 'Talk To Them' is fire: a spray of clashing vocal samples and rapid-fire jungle breaks over pulsing bass tones. Get familiar, this is a fierce introduction to his deeply idiosyncratic take on club music." - Boiler Room

The EP follows Air Max '97's 'Progress and Memory' EP, which received DJ support from Alex Coulton, Brackles, Distal, Logos and Teeth amongst others, as well as positive reviews from such sites as Dummy Mag, Mixmag, The Fader, The Guardian, WIRE.

Suicideyear - Remembrance

Suicideyear

Remembrance

12inchSFT0431
Software
22.09.2014

Remembrance is the Software Recording Co. debut from Baton Rouge's Suicideyear (born James Prudhomme). Written and produced between Florida and Louisiana during the summer and fall of 2013, Remembrance recalls those southern U.S. landscapes and Prudhomme's experiences across eight songs equally intimate, intoxicating and mercurial.

We first fell in love with Suicideyear by way of his Japan mixtape, a remarkable convergence of ATL trap beats and mid-late century American minimalism that turned and twisted more than a few heads. Software's label own head Daniel Lopatin was privy to an eerily similar convergence at an All Tomorrow's Parties festival one year earlier in which two performers, Big Boi and Terry Riley, converged at a nearby Burger King. When James revealed his childhood adoration for Speakerboxxx, we knew it was on.

Prudhomme wrote Remembrance while reflecting on themes of love and loss against the backdrop of the deep American south he calls home.

James' experiences of reflection and resolution led to the vivid, emotionally charged production that makes up Remembrance. Alive with an idiosyncratic sense of melodic space, his repertoire eschews a topical palette for a personal aesthetic that offers a visceral love letter to abstraction. Prudhomme references both forms we know to exist and speculates on how they can be newly realized.

Woo - Into The Heart Of Love

Emotional Rescue and Woo once again come together, this time to reissue their masterpiece, the previously cassette-only album Into The Heart Of Love. A joyous, uplifting ode to love in all it's forms, the trials and tribulations and ultimately the triumphs are all encapsulted in Woo's unique soundscapes. Of all the myriad of released and unreleased Woo recordings, Into The Heart Of Love is without a doubt their most complete and cohesive body of work. Full of Woo's quirky analogue dub electronics, there is also a very English sense of folk. With more vocals then their other albums, the structure and softness of mood quintessentially comes from the Mother Isle. Mark's guitar craft is at its most expressive, entwined with subtle bass, a breadth of clarinet and touches of piano. This is all mixed and merged beautifully with Clive's now recognisable desk and synthesiser mastery. As individual as anything you'd hear coming from the Black Ark. More peaceful and uplifting than Whichever Way You Are Going, You Are Going Wrong and encompassing than its Cosy Inside, the album presented as Into The Heart Of Love is exactly that. Drawing you into it's swirls and layers upon layers, slowly wrapping you in it's own special, spectral soundcape. It is love indeed that permeates throughout. Again and again the titles lead the way, but it's more than that. The lilting hopes, joy, optimism and peace expressed in songs like When Your Find Your Love, Sarah and The Heart Of Love show Woo in all their glory. Of all Woo's songs and craft, their best is all included. The simplicity but detailed interplay between the two brothers is as telepathic as imagined. Pushing and pulling together to represent a wondrous album. Of course, it had to be. It's Love.

Stefan Jaworzyn - Shock Ep 2

"While I might have thought I knew what I was up to with the first 12", I'm less able to identify what warped impulses gave birth to this one. So welcome to another sojourn in hell...Bilharzia is 15 minutes of electronic nausea, adding layers of bleeping LFO nastiness to a relentlessly repetitive base. I have no idea how to categorize it and don't intend to try. Definitely one of the more twisted pieces of music I've been involved in creating. You should know you'll get what's coming to you with a song called Make a Joyful Sound, and I don't feel it disappoints. Pounding brutality you could bury your dad to, and a bad time guaranteed to be had by all. There is a kind of tune in there somewhere though, lurking dimly in the background..." - Stefan Jaworzyn, 2013.

George Theodorakis - The Rules Of The Game (original Studio Recordings 1978-1996)

Into the Light Records continue to shine light on the undiscovered heritage of Greek electronic music, highlighting the work of prolific Greek composer George Theodorakis on the label's third archival release. "The Rules of the Game" features mostly unreleased studio recordings Theodorakis made between 1978 and 1996, with the addition of selected material taken from his sought-after 'Margo' and 'Sima' LPs.
George Theodorakis is the son of legendary Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis. Unlike his father, George only released four albums - pressed in small quantities - over a period of time spanning nearly two decades. Despite such limited official output, Theodorakis was intensely involved in music. George has always had the privilege of owning a well equipped home studio - the SSR Studio (1976-1984) and later the Theta Studio (1985-1987, 1993-1997) - where he'd spend most of his days working, often completely losing all track of time. These studios provided the ideal environment where he could explore new synthesized sounds and freely experiment. Although Theodorakis' music can be considered reclusive, esoteric and personal - especially if measured against the standards of most Greek productions of the same time - a number of his compositions found their way into the soundtracks of theatre plays, TV series, dance performances, etc.

Theodorakis' work was probably too forward-looking to meet with wider success and appeal to a broad audience back then; "The Rules of the Game" hopes to finally earn the composer the attention and acclaim his music undoubtedly deserves.

Salvatore Martirano - The Salmar Construction

The SalMar Construction is an amazing large music synthesis engine conceived and constructed in the early 1970's by a composer for use by a composer. These unreleased recordings were made at IRCAM in Paris in 1983. It illustrates the power that an electronic composition can achieve when the composer arrives at a true synergy with his synthesizer. This LP represents a significant performance by Salvatore Martirano (1927-1995) on his unique instrument, the SalMar Construction. Under development from the late 1960s, the SalMar is believed to be the first interactive 'composing machine' with digital logic circuits at its heart

Altar Of Flies - Altar Of Flies

All compositions by Mattias Gustafsson: Magnetic tape, field recordings & electronics, recorded to tape 2012-2013. Mattias Gustafsson's industrial, Mjölby-style musique concrète is deeply personal and even though the music is often sparse and minimal, it always contains restrained energy explosions and psychic tensions.

Neotantrik (votel/demdike/ciani) - Blue Amiga

3

Andy Votel and Demdike Stare's Sean Canty's concept group, NeoTantrik, return with the fruits of recent performances alongside Buchla maestro Suzanne Ciani, Swiss jazz legend Bruno Spoerri, and folk artist Jane Weaver. Recorded during sporadic visits to theatres and art spaces across the world, 'Blue Amiga' follows one year on from their 'Intervisions', further flinging the coordinates of their improvised alloys to encompass, extract and reduce a broad spectra of influences and disciplines taken from theatrical sound design, Italian library and computer music with general abstract and unrehearsed mechanical / human /electronic interfaces. Put simply; it's a trip. Augmented by the presence of synth music and electro-jazz pioneers Ciani and Spoerri - both subjects of excellent reissues by Votel's Finders Keepers label - plus the return of Jane Weaver and home-made music by the Sound Awareness blog's Martin Young, the team sweep us thru engrossing soundscapes fanning out from sub-aquatic drone to radiant electro-acoustica, gloomy cues and strung out, opiated ambience of a deeply romantic, adult nature. Garbed in Asia Argento's gorgeous cover design - featuring an image depicting the private family swimming pool photography of Giallo actress Daria Nicolodi - 'Blue Amiga' wears its cinematic influences quite literally on its sleeve, while musically rebuking the obvious stylistic blinkers of European film music in favour of genuine naked exploration and expansion.
