Cahoots Volume 3 cooks up new tracks from Nick Beringer, Markus Quittner, Robert Reinartz, and The Zars, each adding their own flavors to the Cahoots Records stew of house music.

Berliner Nick Beringer begins Volume 3 and pushes the Cahoots clan deeper into the dark woods with the roaring sounds of 'Inside'. With previous works on Skylax, Morris Audio and Desos Records, Beringer uses his signature jacking sound on 'Inside' and overlays dusty chords on shuffling hi-hats to open up the record. 'Inside' takes Nick's sound in a new direction, adding old school rave hits and brooding MPC drum patterns against a dense atmosphere, paving the road for what lies ahead

As the trail gets smoother, Volume 3 kicks back with 'Body & Soul' by Markus Quittner, packing a triplet swing that creates a free floating and carefree vibe. Well placed vocals and moody chords give way to a complex arrangement, leaving your imagination wondering what will come next. Whether working in the hills of Austria with the Hoover the House crew, or releasing tracks on quality labels such as Something Else and Kolour Records, Quittner's ability to combine intricate beats with satisfying sounds makes him one to watch.

Side B kicks down the doors with 'Get Me Out' by Robert Reinartz. Offering a proper dose of shuffling house music, 'Get Me Out' features soulful vocal sampling with bouncy, percussive grooves and filtered synth stabs. Another talent from our growing Dutch division, Reinartz has solidified his sound for labels like Freche Fruchte Recordings and VEEE. Clocking in just shy of 5 minutes, 'Get Me Out' will certainly leave dance floors wanting more when it's gone.

Wrapping up side B is Italian duo The Zars, lifting the Cahoots crew into orbit with some space disco vibes on 'Greater Than Gatsby'. Hitting on all points between deep, progressive and funky house, 'Greater Than Gatsby' infuses arpeggiated bass with classy chords and bubbling hand drums. With prior releases on Smooth Agent and Tekkno Records, The Zars offer their special blend of deep and raw house music for a refreshing close to Volume 3.

2013 it's been a great year for Georgia-based duo Rotkraft - bunch of successful releases on labels like Nurvous Records, Kumasi Music, SpaceWalker Recordings, Exotic Refreshment or legendary Kompakt just speaks for themselves. Now they returns to their home at Exotic Refreshment with new outstanding EP, this time in collaboration with very talented vocalist Saint Kitten.

Their newest song "Red Wine" it's quite a trip. Modern nu disco sounds, great work on synths and hypnotizing voice of Saint Kitten takes the listener to another dimension.

We knew that we need equally massive remixes for this one. That's why we invited Click Click - a founder of Palms & Flamingos and a regular guest on well known imprints like Cajual Records, Smoke N' Mirrors, KATERMUKKE or Light My Fire - who turned "Red Wine" into a real deep house monster, and Klar & PF (Glam Jam Artists / Pole Jam Records) who delivers a pure funk killer - just listen, these guys do the magic!

The main track "Oh Year" shows us the house side of Markus's musical education in the early 90`s. Raw, dirty and funky, beatdriven drum programming and oldschool influenced organs. All this is held together by a massive bassline, rolling over the dancefloor. Not much else to say than: Oh Year!!

THE EP

Where "Oh Year" takes you more to the funky side, "Dayrun" is a more techno influenced trip to the dephts of the night. With the hypnotic synths and wobbly bassline it invites you to loose yourself in the dance. On the other side, the detroitesque strings, that glimpse up during the break and the pushing hihats, it leaves you with a smile and your hands in the air.

To complete this fabulous EP, Markus throws in some percussion and extra deep basslines on "Pingel Pangel Snop". A track that is filled up with funk & soul, designed to be nothing but a house track with a twinkle in one's eye. A true groove monster.

THE ARTIST

Everything has started for Markus with a gift of his brother in 1992, a Behringer 3 canal mixer. Kraftwerk, Yello, and Off belonged to the artists who opened his creativity and his ears for the electronic dance music. In 1994 he visited for the first time the Omen in Frankfurt where Sven Vath, DJ Dag and Frank Lorber did what DJ's for one good evening have to act. Two years later he put in action his won inspirations in the end, in the decks.

THE REMIX

Who else could we have asked for a remix on this oldschool trip than DJ Sneak. Not only that Markus and Sneak share their love for BBQ and big chunks of beef, they also deliver a perfect match soundwise. DJ Sneak takes the original to another level by enriching the percussions, adding a floor pounding kickdrum and bringing in some real house gangster feeling. With his own words: Yeah man, imma work it for ya!!

Space Ibiza residency. The "Tuesday" project was Cox's idea: He reportedly handed Moudaber a zip drive stating, "Right, we're doing a collab and we're putting it out on MOOD, but all I have is the bass loop." A few email swaps later, the track was born.The original mix of "See You Next Tuesday" is a no-nonsense techno gem that features a pulsating bass interjected by shimmering breaks and delicate snares. The middle section takes the listener deeper down the rabbit hole with haunting ethereal vocal cuts, before things get taken up a gear yet again.The deep mix is a groovier affair with intricate drum patterns and a warm bass line that balances the driving nature of the original, and demonstrates the pair's ability to travel unexpected musical ground.

A1 The first tune is from the Swedish duo TSR who are known from their hit release on the first Mindcut. Finally they bring out the next smasher called 'Framfallsmusik'. Distortion drums meet weird fm sounds.

A2 is a collaboration project between Lag and Forest people who deliver a rolling monster which goes straight in your face. Hold your breath 'The Beast' is watching you!

B1 Jerome Hill, the underground legend from London, is not only known for his outstanding Vinyl mixes. This time he shows up with 'Frogmarch'.
Chicago grooves combined with a touch of funk. Just perfect for jackin' on the peak time.

B2 The last number 'Pavement Slab' is from Keepsakes. The guy from Australia releases his debut vinyl and delivers a heavy tune with a smashing kick and rough percussions. Basement techno as it's best.
