Influential UK Jazz/Funk/Disco outfit THE COOL-NOTES' biggest hit 'Spend The Night', originally released in 1985, is back on Dafia Records with a set of brand new, never before released remixes by French Disco icon DIMITRI FROM PARIS.

The original, which reached #11 in the UK Top 40 in the Spring of 1985, is regarded as a mid-tempo UK classic by many since its first appearance. Known for his luxurious, groove-driven productions and remixes, Dimitri From Paris has reworked tracks for artists including Björk, Quincy Jones, Chic and New Order, while helping define the sound of modern disco and house music in a way only he can.

When he got the chance by Dafia label head Mannix to get his hands on the original multitrack tapes, he didn't hesitate to deliver two classic DFP revisions in the making. His Main version leaves all the essential elements of the timeless Original, highlights the parts that have deserved more exposure whilst adding crisp beats and nice effects to the game. The result is a greatly updated version that surely will have many fans within the Soul/Funk/Disco scene.

On his Dub Dimitri Form Paris delivers a spaced out stripped back version with great use of vocal snippets to great effect on any dancefloor.

We asked Velvet Velour for an album you can listen to while cooking dinner; maximising the available time on a 12” record. He reached for the sky and pulled down a generous serving of clouds. Downtempo on the A-side, house on the B-side.

Berlin-based edit specialist Voodoocuts knows exactly how to tease out the best bits of any of the source tunes he works with. He's been doing it for years now on labels like Juice on Wax and Uluru, and now heads to Ritmo for his latest 7" bomb. 'Riddim Freak' gets this one going with a reggaeton rework of a Missy Elliott classic. It's an inspired pairing that has elastic bass and trampoline-like kicks with rave horns, fat-assed brass band energy and plenty of that original Missy attitude. 'Work This' takes another of the rap queens' most welcome jams and flips and reverses it into an early electro and hip-hop blend with old school drums and many magnificent samples all bringing it to life in full colour.

Mit dem von Madlib produzierten "One Beer" setzt DOOM das Motiv fort, um Schichten von Tiefe über Eskapismus und Ego zu falten, während das populäre "Rapp Snitch Knishes" die Verkaufsdiskriminierung und widersprüchlichen Verhaltensweisen einiger Rapper kritisiert. Insgesamt ist MM..FOOD sowohl ein sozialer Kommentar als auch ein Stück Gesellschaftssatire, das MF DOOMs Fähigkeit unter Beweis stellt, ernste Themen mit seinem einzigartigen, verspielten lyrischen Stil zu verbinden. Gold Colored Vinyl LP Edition zum 25jährigen Jubiläum des Jan Delay Solo Debüt Albums! Zusammen mit der Sam Ragga Band produzierte der Beginner-Frontmann Jan Delay ein Album, das die deutsche Pop-Landschaft nachhaltig veränderte. Noch nie war Reggae mit deutschen Texten so authentisch, so fett und so erfolgreich. Mit der Interpretation des Nena-Hits "Irgendwie, Irgendwo, Irgendwann" schaffte Jan Delay den Durchbruch auch außerhalb der HipHop-Community und legte 2001 mit "Searching For Jan Soul Rebels" weiter nach. Jan Delay zeigt sich als scharfzüngiger Kritiker und Zyniker, Songs wie "Ich Möchte Nicht, dass Ihr Meine Lieder Singt" und "Vergiftet" polarisieren, wurden aber trotz aller textlichen Radikalität zu veritablen Hits.

Neuauflage der essenziellen Beat-Konducta-Reihe, hier die Volumes 1 und 2 als Siren Split Edition Beat Konducta Vol. 1-2: Movie Scenes & Movie Scenes, the Sequel waren die ersten offiziellen Veröffentlichungen in Madlibs Beat-Konducta-Reihe (Vol. 1 Ende 2005, Vol. 2 im Jahr 2006). Bei beiden handelt es sich um Instrumental-Hip-Hop-Produktionen von Madlib, die im Stil von TV- und Film-Library-Platten der 70er Jahre gehalten sind und zusammen eine Stunde voller instrumentaler Klanglandschaften bilden. Working with sister label OST Recordings, Acid Jazz has reissued 'Family Tree' by Family Tree twice in the last few years, each time with the record immediately selling out, and whilst it will return on the 7-inch format at sometime in the future, they’ve decided to go bigger this time and present the record in the 12-inch format.

‘Family Tree’ is an all-time club classic made by ‘I Specialize In Love’ hitmaker Sharon Brown and her group Family Tree. Original copies of this record regularly sell at over £300. A floor filler, it was Norman Cook’s favourite disco record.

Presented on a smart-looking label and in an even cooler sleeve, both of which are based on the original Ananda label single release, this single couples the original 12-inch disco mix on the A-side, with a B-side that has both the original 7-inch edit and the OST Bonus Beats edit, which makes its 12-inch debut.

Phillip George Allison was born and raised in Denham Town, West Kingston, the last of six children and the only boy. As a boy he sang hymns at his mother's side. Before long he was singing radio hits at school concerts, where he did Curtis Mayfield, Smokey Robinson and Eddie Kendricks in a falsetto so close to theirs that friends called him "George Smokey."
With Delroy Williams and Shirley Forbes he formed The Mad Lads. Leroy Sibbles auditioned them at Studio One and called Coxsone Dodd over to listen, and they recorded the same day, with Sylvan Morris as engineer and the Sound Dimensions backing them. Ten To One, Losing You and You Never Know were big with the sound systems. George then left music to study electrical engineering at CAST. Years later producer Carl Prince of Gibbous Records asked him to re-record Ten To One, and that brought him back into the studio for the 1984 album So Unusual, where both of these sides first appeared.
Gypsy Woman was one of the first songs he ever sang in class. "Gypsy Woman was originally done by Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions, one of my favourite groups. I chose to do it a little differently, in my falsetto style, like Ten To One that I recorded while singing lead with the Mad Lads."
War Is Ugly "I wrote War Is Ugly during the politically motivated tensions and killings between rival gangs and gunmen all over the island in that period. My message was to the gunmen: turn in their arms and come. War is ugly, love is lovely."

After his Studio One days with The Mad Lads and a long break for his engineering career, George Allison went back into the studio for Carl Prince's Gibbous label. The sessions ran across Channel One, Aquarius, Tuff Gong and Music Mountain, and they produced two albums in 1984, So Unusual and Exclusive. Both were released in the UK and the US. This single puts one song from each album together.
Sad - George's version of "Who's Sad" by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles. Smokey was one of his first vocal models, and his school friends called him "George Smokey."
Every Hoe - "I composed Every Hoe from the Jamaican proverb 'Every hoe have him stick a bush', which means there's somebody out there for everyone. The gist of the song is that there are always problems too, because it's a curse on the human race."

Jungle by Night Speaks Out on their latest full length album, Bar Dancing: An Ode to Friendship, the Dance Floor, and the Voice

Since their teenage years, the Amsterdam-based groove collective Jungle by Night has been conquering music venues and festivals with their ever-expanding mix of styles—krautrock, nu-disco, electro-pop. After six largely instrumental studio albums, the group—now consisting of six musicians—changes course on their seventh long-player. On Bar Dancing, set for release in early 2027 via the Amsterdam-based Rush Hour label, the band does something they have never done before: they sing.

Where brass, percussion, and synths previously told the stories, lyrics and vocals now demand their space as well. It gives the band room to put words to the topics that occupy their minds: the pitfalls of digital addiction, the dark sides of fake news, toxic masculinity, and the connection they experience while touring together.

The title Bar Dancing captures the essence of the album. It is an ode to friendship, connection, and the night. The record radiates the atmosphere of a pub where you sit at the bar discussing life, only to find yourself dancing in that very same bar moments later. Analog and warmly produced, the album builds on influences from '80s pop, krautrock, and Neue Deutsche Welle. Think of the playfulness of Talking Heads, the dub influences of UB40, the electronic layers of Air, and the tight "computer love" of Kraftwerk.

Band member Hy Tienson explains: "For the first time, we are literally giving a voice to our thoughts. It makes the music more personal, more direct, and more layered, without losing that signature, uplifting Jungle groove."

With Bar Dancing, Jungle by Night delivers an album that invites both listening and dancing. It marks a new phase for the band, taking another step forward with a renewed sound and their own lyrics.

Infusing his cinematic, psychedelic musical vision into cutting-edge, bass-heavy electronics, Kutiman presents a euphoric club journey through UK garage, D&B, post-dubstep, and futuristic dance music.

With syncopated drums, deep basslines, and R&B-soaked vocals from standout artists like Jenny Penkin, Misha Sutherland and Odelya Illouz, the project bridges the gap between the indie electronica of Four Tet, Caribou, and Jamie xx and classic alternative club sounds.

Club music is emotional at its heart, and this release captures its essence perfectly; the peak-time euphoria, the moments of introspection & the times spent lost in the music.

A hot slice of Latin dance music — produced by the legendary Masters at Work, the house icons and masters of that Nuyorican sound, “Little” Louie Vega and Kenny “Dope” González — from Los Amigos Invisibles, the Venezuelan band who have spent decades perfecting the art of getting away with everything.

Packed with raunchy songs (of course) that fuse every American genre under the sun — from salsa to acid jazz to disco to funk — this record tore up dance floors twenty years ago.
