In Derrick Harriott's vast catalog, 'Do I Worry' is a Rocksteady tune as important as his other hit 'The Loser'. The B-side features a powerful horn blow and Bobby Ellis' trumpet solo is nicely executed. Reissued with the original recordings on both sides!

Known as a synonym for "killer", this is one of the best singles released on Studio One by Don Drummond, including another precious take that's been previously unreleased. Compared to any other artists, the extreme tension that Don Drummond brings into his sessions were next level. His trombone skills were above genius and it is clear to hear his strong personality and humanity through his music. With his works being released on Studio One and other productions, he had established the "Far Eastern Sound" which still lives today in Jamaica. The fact all the music that was influenced by this sound has been evaluated since therefore it is a proof of how his music is universality. It is interesting that all the unreleased Skatalites tracks from this era have different solo phrases each time, showing how valuable these recordings are for the archive.

In the year 2020, our surroundings frequently appear to be only a few steps short of resembling the kind of technologically-driven dystopia that previously was confined to the realm of fiction, there still exists a peculiar shortage of music spiritually attuned to these treacherous times. Fortunately, a chance meeting between two disparate yet fundamentally akin visions is here to redress the balance.

Petbrick - the duo comprising Wayne Adams (Big Lad/Death Pedals/Johnny Broke) and Iggor Cavalera (Sepultura/Soulwax/Mixhell) - have arrived at an audial destination whereby electronic experimentation, hardcore attitude, dystopian dread and in-the-red dementia collide and collude to form a uniquely invigorating assault, custom fit for an accelerated age. Since then he produced the first album in history to be composed, made and mixed with only eyes, called Kate & Me.

Instrumental post-metal sludge quartet TELEPATHY have announced their anticipated third full-length record, Burn Embrace, due 27th March via Svart Records. Having taken the post-metal scene by storm, Burn Embrace sees TELEPATHY ignite their spark and leave behind a scorched earth in the eclectic wake of their blackened sludge, post-black and epic doom. The band comment: “We’re super excited to announce the release of our 3rd full length album Burn Embrace. Recorded during the summer of 2019 at Orgone Studios with Jaime Gomez Arellano (Ghost, Myrkur, Paradise Lost), Burn Embrace is an album born of struggle, overcoming adversity and ultimately embracing the changes that come with growth”. The same year they launched „Dead, Hot And Ready“, naturally tens of thousands of fans banged their heads at Wacken Open Air ´99 to their Heavy-meets-Thrash-mix. One year later the Metal-allstars toured with Kreator and Moonspell.

Nottingham-based soul singer Yazmin Lacey shares lush new single, Morning Matters, and announces her forthcoming EP of the same name. The Morning Matters single - which is inspired by new dawns and fresh starts, and features celebrated pianist Sarah Tandy on keys The song follows Lacey’s recent run of sold out UK shows and previous single, Not Today Mate, released in January. Both tracks are included on newly-announced EP, Morning Matters, out 27th March.

The EP pairs candid songwriting with a laid-back, graceful delivery and is, as Lacey explains; “dedicated to anyone that’s ever struggled with getting up and out in the morning, for everyone doing work on themselves and trying to live better.” Contributors include Femi Koleoso and Ife Ogunjobi of Ezra Collective, plus jazz protege Moses Boyd. Yazmin Lacey didn’t set out to be a singer, however a chance encounter lead to her earning a place on Future Bubblers - Gilles Peterson’s development programme devoted to discovering and nurturing UK talent.

Enthused by the experience, Lacey recorded some songs in her
living room and in 2017 self-released debut EP, Black Moon.
The more polished When The Sun Dips 90 Degrees EP followed in 2018 and includes standout single Something My Heart Trusts,
which has clocked up over 4.4 million plays on Spotify.

Multi-instrumentalist and composer Alex Puddu is coming back with his brand new album "Discotheque". Recorded between Copenhagen (at Panalama and Sexy Lady Studios) and New York (Soundwork Recording Studios), it consists of a strong set of soulful and melodic tracks with a tight production that brings you back to the late 70's and early 80's jazz-funk and boogie music scene.

The album opens up with three singles in a row: "You Are My Fire", "Be My Lover" and the UK radio station airplay hit "Don't Hold Back", all of them co-written with and featuring Gene Robinson Jr., lead vocalist of the legendary Philadelphia R&B/funk band Breakwater.

Other remarkable special guests on vocals are Duane Hobson, on the jazz-funk finest "Back Against The Wall" and the disco-groove "Saturday Night", and the young Danish vocalist Sawa on the sweet soul-reggae ballad "Release The Catch". The Album contains also some great instrumental tracks, like the title-track that sees Alex Puddu behind the drumkit once again, the sexy-exploitation "Love Affair", "Fight Together", "Nightflight" and "Blue Lines".

Two of today's coolest bassists also played on "Discotheque": Paul Westwood, who worked with David Bowie, Nick Kershaw, Elton John and Italian iconic artist Lucio Battisti on the 1978 pop soul masterpiece "Una Donna Per Amico", and Bob Callero, most known for his activity with Italian 70's prog bands - Franco Battiato's Osage Tribe, Duello Madre, Il volo - and pop artists - Lucio Battisti, Loredana Berté.

As always, unfettered access to the master tapes, and with a deep deep understanding and reverence for the source material, these mixes are something totally fresh and exciting. Perhaps not the most obvious choice for a remix or an edit, Jamiroquai made no qualms about their allegiance to the Funk, the Soul, the Disco and the Jazz in their lives, which in turn naturally fed into their musical output. Upon listening to the groups output one can certainly hear the spirits of the Mizzell Brothers, of Gil Scott-Heron, Chic, Donald Byrd and many others, all filtered via Jay Kay and his group's unique approach. This is something Dimitri understands very well and it shines through in these wondrous reworks. Yet another stunning benchmark in a career spanning almost 3 decades, these latest offerings from the DFP lab rightfully place Dimitri up there with the best of the best - we're sure you'd all agree that Le Edits still brings a little chic to the music effortlessly!

“In 1976, the Asociaux Associés (antisocial associates, TN) led by Philippe Doray (Rotomagus, Ruth, Crash), recorded the first of the two albums under their own name: Ramasse-Miettes Nucléaires. On synthesiser, Doray fires off his disturbing poetry over psychedelic pop, voodoo rock, off-kilter krautrock, approximate swing … But if the music is iconoclastic (bringing to mind as much Hendrix as Areski, Ash Ra Tempel as Berrocal…), one thing is certain: Ramasse-Miettes Nucléaires is one of the best albums of obscure experimental song ever recorded.

It is no surprise that, on the Nurse With Wound List that Steven Stapleton inserted in the first album of his legendary musical project, the name of Philippe Doray can be found between that of the Doo-Dooettes and Jean Dubuffet: his music is genuinely original and, what is more, ahead of its’ time.

It was in 1977 that the first album by Philippe Doray, Ramasse-Miettes Nucléaires, was published on Gratte-Ciel, a label created by the journalist from Rock & Folk Jean-Marc Bailleux and run by Jean-Marc Patrat and José Serré. Encouraged by his wild experience in Rotomagus, a formidable rock band which swept through Rouen, for sure, but also further afield – as Julian Cope was himself inspired, years later, by their explosivity – Doray brought a team to this album which was both untamed and ready to fight to defend it’s terrible (and trembling) poetry.

Backed by his ‘Asociaux Associés’ (antisocial associates, TN), our man from Rouen let his fantasy run wild and cried out again: “sing with me, and don’t be afraid to clap your hands!” And so, much of French popular music was shaken: the ball in Doray’s pinball machine had struck Jimi Hendrix then Alain Goraguer, then Ash Ra Tempel and onto Areski, then T-Rex followed by Jac Berrocal…

As far as the texts are concerned, just take a listen. Doray’s poetry is schizophrenic: nurtured in the Normandy countryside, it relates paranoid tales of booby-trapped towns, Levis jeans, Prisunic supermarkets and plastic dolls… Crumbs of reality which he sucked up to create the album that Souffle Continu and Thierry Müller, mastering (with Ruth, Crash, and Illitch too) spit out again fifty years later, with many good memories.

Philippe Doray, with the help of his 'Associés', evermore iconoclastic and numerous, backs up his anguished poetry with customised krautrock, hallucinatory pop and rock Suicide. Much more than a memory of the then surprising (and disturbing) Swinging Rouen, this album is an intergalactic ambush.

Following the publication, in 1977, of the first of two albums under his own name, Ramasse-Miettes Nucléaires, on the label Gratte-Ciel, Philippe Doray didn’t waste any time before writing new obscure and experimental songs. As proof, between May 1978 and January 1980, with his Asociaux Associés (antisocial associates, TN), he recorded ten of them in the farm in which he lived (and shared) close to Rouen.

In 1980, Nouveaux Modes Industriels was published thanks to the support of Invisible, the label of the Société Coopérative d'Ouvriers-Producteurs Artistiques (S.C.O.P.A., the Cooperative Society of Artistic Worker/Producers,TN) run by, amongst others, the ex-manager of Crium Delirium Jacques Pasquier. This meant that Doray had free rein for his electric poetry, his personal delirium, to be heard. He had already shaken up French music with his mix of pop, krautrock and free jazz; a few months later he would undergo a change which would be the precursor of his future projects.

Before collaborating with Thierry Müller under the names Ruth and Crash, Doray let loose one last time, with his Asociaux Associés, his anguished poetry into the face of the urban labyrinth, his nuclear dynamite… It is no coincidence if the album cover is similar to those by Urban Sax, the spirit of the times was anguish as a creator of beauty. Doray’s version had the advantage of still knowing how to sing.

Never forgetting his interest for dance, the musician gets Cluster moving to a boogaloo, foments a Suicide on synthetic jaw harp or invents elevator music for tower blocks… All of which hotchpotch feeds into his Nouveaux Modes Industriels. If the last track of the album states “no after-sales service”, it is simply because there is no need.

The Diggin In The Crates collective has dropped a new album titled D.I.T.C. Studios Volume 2. The project is produced entirely by longtime member Showbiz. D.I.T.C.’s latest compilation features 10 tracks. A.G., O.C., Lil Fame of M.O.P., Papoose, Milano Constantine, Cory Gunz and David Bars contribute vocals to the LP.
