"The Mark of the Devil" is the third and last chapter of Alex Puddu's trilogy with Italian legendary vocalist Edda Dell'Orso, here featured in three songs. Written, arranged, produced and performed by Alex Puddu, together with many great musicians, the album is Dope-Groove, is Prog-Rock, is Psych-Blues, a walk through the gates of hell within Lust and Temptation. This album is the most obscure and experimental Alex Puddu has ever made to date!

Horace Andy's greatest artistic achievement, surpassing even his Skylarking set for Studio One. With definitive reworks of songs he first recorded for Bunny Lee and Derrick Harriott (Money Money and Lonely Woman), a deadly version of Lloyd Robinson's Cuss Cuss, and a first outing for Spying Glass, later versioned by Massive Attack. Musicians include Wackies regulars like Owen Stewart and Oral Cooke from Itopia, and Ras Menilik and Jah T, also Sleepy's multi-instrumentalist spar Myrie Dread from the recent In The Light sessions for Hungry Town. At the desk, Lloyd barnes, Junior Delahaye and Douglas Levy coax unequalled vocal performances from the singer, showcased in ineffable extended mixes.

United in the same place, and united in time, because they have recorded an original album in just four days.

Ocean Parkway, the new sublabel from Brooklyn's Names You Can Trust, launches with a deep dive! Drawing inspiration from sounds as varied as Tortoise and Trentmøller, Lavender Lagoon eschews traditional genre cliches, blending sampled drums and synth patches to paint an electronic collage inspired by the lush, organic flow of nature. The A-Side presents an optimistic tryptic: a boy hunting for butterflies, dogs swimming in suburban pools, and the smell of spring rain. But flip it over to Side B and a darker realm is revealed — one in which the cold physics of outerspace reign supreme, and the heavy computerized rhythms take control.

Say You Love Me wasn't "Om" Alec Khaoli's first solo recording but the 1985 EP solidified the bass player and songwriter's standing as one of South Africa's most consistently innovative pop auteurs. He built a career on ubiquitous rock, pop and soul hits with groundbreaking bands like the Beaters, Harari and Umoja.
But Khaoli's seemingly endless fountain of music continued outside these ensembles, where he usually played bass and contributed songwriting and vocals. Khaoli released several successful solo works while he made records with Umoja and worked on other productions with friends. This creativity was aided by Khaoli's own recording studio. He was the first South African to have a privately-owned studio.
As black artists were forced to record during lunch breaks and didn't get sufficient access and time in the white-owned studios, having his studio allowed Khaoli to develop in his own way. Hence his productive output during the 80's and early 90's, releasing 5 LPs with Umoja and 5 solo LPs, along with numerous singles and EPs. There's something broad and dynamic about the almost epic pop sound Khaoli creates on Say You Love Me.
Being the first South African to take control his recording process and thereby free himself from one of apartheid's many strictures, he took his vision of music to new realms and made timeless music for the dance floor in the process.

Music knows no boundaries and trespasses every geographic wall and culture. Rooted in Lausanne, Switzerland, Professor Wouassa is a living testimony of this - a special blend that brings together the principal Swiss afrobeat players into one groovy pot, cooking uplifting and infectious afro music.
Born in 2003, the combo released their first album Dangerous Koko! early 2011 and soon picked up airplay in such diverse countries as the UK, Greece, Brazil, Canada, only to be reinforced by their incredible live delivery - and soon invited to be the opening act for Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 in the reputed Cully Jazz Festival. After a string of memorable concerts throughout a packed tour, 2015 marks the release of Grow Yes Yes!, mixed by none other than Malcolm Catto (The Heliocentrics, Mulatu Astatké, to name very few) and with featured appearances by afrobeat shining stars Seun Kuti and Ebo Taylor.
The album, about to be re-issued on Matasuna Records - house of the smouldering hot new project Dem Juju Poets - and for the very first time on vinyl, will surely add fuel to the fire across dancefloors everywhere.
Serema, its first track, laces Ebo Taylor's smokey voice with an almost Cuban feel melody, preaching a message of love while Doumadem is a testament to the afro beat heritage, Thais Diarra's voice hovering beautifully over a landscape of heat-infused rhythm, cropped with precise horn stabs and arrangements that would make Antibalas proud.
We dare you to stand still while listening to We Thit. Seriously. If you aren´t compelled to dance to it, check your pulse. Surely something will be racing inside you.
Sunu Reou is a vintage, slow tempo afro groover and it is only fitting that it has Seun Kuti as its guest, proving, if proof were needed, that Professor Wouassa are a singular musical project that pays homage to and does not shy away from mixing afrobeat, high-life and ethio-jazz with contemporary funk. Yes Yes!

Do you long for a time where you could head out have a good time and dance your pants off Well The Allergies invite you back to the glory days of Northern Soul, high kicks and throwing yourself around the floor with their new single 'Entitled to That'.
It's an up tempo stomper with feel-good Soul sensibilities that would be equally at home at the Wigan Casino as it is on today's festival circuit. Following on in the same vein that made their 6 Music album of the day record - 'As We Do Our Thing' so popular, they continue to reshape classic sounds for the modern dancefloor.
Talented Soul songstress Honey Larochelle provides the sass in this peppy number co-penned with The Allergies by regular collaborator Andy Cooper (Ugly Duckling). This second single taken from their forthcoming album 'Push On' shows they've lost none of the verve that made their debut so good, and gives another taste of what to expect from the LP.
They balance out the release nicely with a steady groover in the shape of 'Get Down On You' - a steady Funk groove with a catchy bassline and the usual signature flair touches from the guys to keep the crowds entertained.

For our fourth release, we're pleased to welcome The Showfa inside the Excursions kitchen, to cook us up something sizzling for your mind, body & soul. Wielding a nifty set of disco scissors, he's selected the finest of gospel cuts and brought them neatly to the boil, serving up three delectable dishes of hot spiritual gumbo. Soul food of the highest calibre.
Taking us to church straight off the bat, 'Thankful' builds and builds along an infectiously uplifting piano-heavy hook, an edit that bubbles away effortlessly akin to a Moodyman-esque disco groove, perfectly crafted for the dancefloor.
'He'll Answer' drops the tempo and tone to something slower & lower, lending its sound to that of the most proficient beat-masters, incorporating moody synths and haunting strings, in a true future gospel style and pattern.
The last serving on the plate is 'Jus' A Little Talk' - a cheeky flip of a classic that's destined to make the AOR diggers and connoisseurs salivate profusely. This retro yacht rock bumper closes out this joyously ethereal platter perfectly.
Already finding its way into the crates of selectors such as Gilles Peterson, Horse Meat Disco and Patrick Forge, it's also received love in Mixmag and across the airwaves, from NTS to Mi-Soul to Rinse FM.
Another essential Excursion on wax, and one that will never leave the box.
LP with poster. U-Roy was a true reggae pioneer, dubbed The Originator for good reason. Bursting onto the Jamaican scene in the earliest 1970s, he pioneered the vocal approach called toasting,' which in addition to branching out Jamaican music into a new era, was also heavily influential on an American genre in its infancy: rapping. U-Roy's style and charisma are always on display, and - as with all of his classic records - the groove rules all. Presented on black vinyl with a poster of the glorious, ganja-drenched cover art, it's the perfect chance to revisit one of the more underrated voices in Jamaican musical history. Previously issued on CD and LP. Available digitally, but physical formats are out of print. Last offical vinyl issue was around 1990.

Dub-Stuy links Bukkha with UK grime stalwart Killa P for a dark, sound killing anthem.
Dub-Stuy expands on their vision for 21st century sound system music with a new 12' that brings together resident producer Bukkha and one of grime's most recognisable voices, Killa P . The result is a deadly cut that takes no prisoners and is backed by an equally heavy instrumental.
'Death Chat' is arguably one of Dub-Stuy's most ambitious collaborations to date. Bukkha crafts a dub meets grime riddim that builds from filtered keys into a ten-ton heavy monster. Killa P, who has collaborated with The Bug and is fresh from a turn on Sir Spyro's 'Topper Top', delivers cutting lyrics in his instantly recognizable patois-inflected style, with each bar building tension toward a sonic climax.
Backing up this dancefloor sureshot is 'Ethiopian Dub', an instrumental that samples its vocal and melodic hook from an obscure dubplate and whirls both around a steady beat and bass line solid enough to punch through walls.
With this latest 12' for Dub-Stuy, Bukkha shows his versatility and delivers an anthem that no sound can test..

Steve Cobby & Porky released 3 albums as The Cutler between 2007 and 2013 and were on the way to completing a fourth when Steve cut loose from their label Steel Tiger and decided to go solo in all pursuits with his own imprint Déclassé.
Porky approached Steve last year with a shortlist of unreleased material they'd done together and wondered if there was life in them.
Cobby set to work completing the unfinished tunes and refining those almost complete. These 7 tunes are the fruits of those labours.
Project names have been cast aside in favour of surnames for all of Cobbys collaborations post 2013, but in essence this is still The Cutler.

Erstaunlich was Casin hier mit seinem Debütalbum abliefert. "Volle Kraft Voraus" - ein mutiges Statement in Zeiten wie diesen!

The son and nephew of UK dub pioneers Alpha & Omega (Greensleeves/VP), Alpha Steppa has been surrounded by soundsystem and dubplate culture from a young age. Now a talented producer in his own right, his productions connect the dots between the music which he has grown up around and the new generation of UK bass music of which he is a part. His dubbed out style draws upon the sounds of his musical heritage, filtered through an exploration of the newer sounds of contemporary bass music. Currently championed by a range of soundsystems and DJs from across the bass music spectrum; from Roots veterans Channel One Soundsystem and the legendary Jah Shaka Soundsystem to UK Steppers pioneers Iration Steppas and Dubstep household names such as V.I.V.E.K, Caspa & Rusko.

"With The Ray Bryant Combo" - Aretha Franklin (voc), Quentin Jackson, Tyree Glenn (tb), Al Sears (ts), Ray Bryant (p), Lord Westbrook, Skeeter Best (g), Milt Hinton, Bill Lee (b), Belton Evans, Sticks Evans, Osie Johnson (dr)
As is well known, early relationships are not always blessed, and it is certainly no secret that the collaboration between Aretha Franklin and Columbia's record producer John H. Hammond did not last long. Hammond's later attempts to candy Franklin's irrepressible natural voice with sugary arrangements and studio gimmicks did not go down well with the public. On the first Franklin disc from Columbia, however, it was honeymoon all the way. With a successful mix of pop and jazz standards, the super talent - Aretha had just turned 18 years old - brought her vocal chords to vibrate. Fired on with youthful élan, these evergreens sound so fresh, new and intoxicating that the question of their genre is quite irrelevant. From a seesawing R & B ("Won't Be Long") via bell-like waves of melody ("Over The Rainbow") right up to the freely styled, jazzy Gershwin classic "It Ain't Necessarily So" - everything is right there! The Ray Bryant Trio - augmented with winds - proves itself a formidable ensemble with true presence yet unobtrusive accompaniment. If you compare the mature performances of Aretha Franklin in her subsequent years with Atlantic (Atlantic SD7205), you will soon recognize that the later 'First Lady of Soul' was in full command of her profession right from the very beginning.
This Speakers Corner LP was remastered using pure analogue components only, from the master tapes through to the cutting head. All royalties and mechanical rights have been paid.

It's no exaggeration to say that Geraldo Pino and his band the Heartbeats kickstarted the whole soul/funk/afrobeat scene in West Africa. Mixing highlife, funk and jazz, and using the latest equipment, they laid waste to all before them. In 1966 Fela Kuti was a jobbing musician, eeking out a living with highlife bands. When Gerlado Pino came to town, it changed his life. Pino tore up the scene,' he recalls in an interview with Carlos Moore. I knew I had to get my shit together. And fast!'. Produced by Odion Iruoje and engineered by Emmanual Odenusi, Let's Have A Party is Geraldo Pino's masterpiece. It's slick and heavy, tough and uncompromising, with musicianship that will blow your mind. It's all killer, no filler, with 'Heavy Heavy Heavy' and 'Let Them Talk' bonafide, nailed on funk classics. The Heartbeats are exactly that, a tight and efficient engine that keeps the groove moving. This is US-style funk, with an emphasis on extended percussion workouts and organ wigouts. You can't listen to 'Power To The People' without being impressed - or compelled to dance. The extended call out to each Heartbeat in 'Let's Have a Party' is well deserved. If my house caught on fire, this is the one album I'd rescue. After one listen, I reckon you'd do the same. - Peter Moore

While John Coltrane first gained attention for his revolutionary 'sheets of sound' technique, it was the deep spirituality of his music that really made his recordings as a bandleader such classics. The albums this giant of music recorded for Atlantic in 1959 and 1960 really represent the heart of his legacy.
To coincide with the release of the John Coltrane documentary Chasing Trane, this 1 LP & 1 CD compilation with unique artwork, remastered for the release, is designed as an introduction to John Coltrane's revered Atlantic recordings. Trane: The Atlantic Collection includes the hit single 'My Favorite Things,' the iconic 'Giant Steps, 'Naima' and more, from one of the legends of the jazz world. The album features a new liner notes essay by Ben Ratliff, former NY Times jazz critic, & author of the 2007 biography 'Coltrane: The Story of a Sound.' '

Two classic Roy Ayers productions back to back on a replica of the original Blue Thumb DJ promo release from 1977.
"Everybody Loves the Sunshine" is the quintessential summer track that has been sampled numerous times by hip hop artists such as Brand Nubian, P.M. Dawn, Common, Masta Ace, Mos Def and others as well as by R&B singer Mary J. Blige.
The Roy Ayers version is the better known track and is his signature tune. The legendary Jazz-Funk pioneer walked tall at Polydor Records in the 1970's for whom he produced a number of seminal albums.
Roy Ayers Music Productions were a side project for Roy Ayers. He was not a member, though he did write and produce songs on the group's debut album Come Into Knowledge (1977) on which this version the track was released.

Segun Bucknor fell in love with American soul music as a student at New York's Columbia University. Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Sam Cooke and Ray Charles hadn't made much of a splash in Africa at the time and when Bucknor returned to Nigeria in 1968, he was determined to bring the sound to a wider audience. The result was brand of Afro-Soul that in turn became a proto-type of Afrobeat. With his bands, The Assembly and The Revolution, he released a few politically charged tracks, but even with his energetic dance trio, The Sweet Things, turning up the heat, Bucknor couldn't compete with Fela Kuti. This self-titled album, the last he released, sees Bucknor go back to his soul roots. Released after The Revolution were disbanded, the Afrobeat affectations are scaled back and his soulful voice brought to the fore. The concerns are more personal than political. It's the sort of music the Sweet Things would nod their heads to rather than shake their booty. That's not to say the African beats aren't still there. On songs like 'The Price Of Love' and 'See And Believe' they form an intriguing bedrock for the songs to be built upon. On Segun Bucknor the sound sophisticated not sweaty, comforting rather than confronting. - Peter Moore,

A-side discomix, one of the rarest and best Wackie's 12"s, B-side PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED wicked '70s roots!
.
Killer vintage Bullwackies! The Happy Love song was originally released on a Tribesman 12", one of the least known but most killer Wackie's 12"s of its day. A propulsive rhythm is behind the group licking back the tune cut by the IQ's in Jamaica a couple years earlier. The B-side was retrieved from tape, an unknown vocalist extolling the virtues of the roots rock reggae coming from Wackie's studio in the turbulent New York City of the 1970's. A must have for all Wackie's diehards, another level of the pyramid unearthed, and more to come!
