Heavily grounded in the UK Steppas sound from the late 90's, Adam Prescott has enlisted the help of UK veteran, King General, on his latest single, 'World Gone Crazy'. King General steps up with real conscious lyrics backed by AP's rootical rhythm section, the duo come together to provide a reality check. On the flip, Adam's Dub is a stripped back, raw take on the original, in true dubwise fashion. Expect real heavyweight digital pressure built to test any sound system.

Class is in session and all the youngins out there shaking a tail feather and playing dress up are about to be schooled by the ageless, timeless, and always present, Mr. Lee Fields. Special Night is the latest offering from a man whose career has spanned 50 years and as Oliver Wang of NPR once said, In a curious case of musical evolution, the older Fields becomes, the closer he gets to perfecting the sound of soul that he grew up with as a young man'. Special Night is no exception. An epic 6 minute jam split into parts one and two on the 7", Special Night is a story of love and loneliness told from the perspective of a man with extreme life experience and deep wisdom. The tune is the perfect storm of production duties handled by Leon Michels & Thomas Brenneck alongside the inimitable musicianship of The Expressions, and recorded at the legendary Diamond Mine, Special Night is in the humble opinion of the Big Crown team, one of the greatest pieces of soul music Lee has put to record thus far.

Trani has been representing the Detroit sound in Italy for some years now, with releases on Minimal Soul Recordings, as well as his own Pushmaster Discs (a label that has also hosted the likes of Ilario Alicante, Myles Sergé and Percyl). His latest outing will be his first full-length, an album inspired space travel, that continues to push Detroit sounds, as well as venturing into some jungle rhythms.

The live music scene of Bristol, UK has been a melting pot of musical talent for years. MOHAWKESTRA are a quintet who've emerged from the centre of that melting pot in 2016 with their debut single on Reed Records, available on 7' vinyl and download.
The Lo Fi studio is where the gritty Funk is forged, always with a nod to the live stage and the B-Boy friendly DJ set in equal measure. Presented on this first of several scheduled releases are 2 blinding British invasion covers that showcase the musicianship of MOHAWKESTRA with The Rolling Stones classic Paint It Black and Green Manalishi of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac fame.
MOHAWKESTRA opt to record direct to reel to reel tape so as to preserve the warmth and feel found in classic recordings from the 60's before the days of having the ability to edit out mistakes quite as easily as can be done today.

New Jersey born Clyde Kingrap (aka The Real Fake MC) is probably the freakiest MC on earth. His Flow is definitely influenced by old-school Hip-Hop masters, but The Real Fake MC declares that his major influence remain in P-Funk, Gogo and early Punk Rock.
For more than 15 years he's been grabbing mics and spreading funky vibes on stage & in collabs all around the world. His two 12 out on Favorite Recordings, Live & Survive & Hunt Ya Sunshine, and his 1st LP Rock It Up were produced by French producer Patchworks aka Mr President.
These two musicians have been dropping some tracks together for more than a decade, with always the same target: educate their love for Hip-Hop with jokin lyrics and Funk inspired beats played live with instruments.
They're back with a brand new LP, Future Funk Survivors out on Boogie Butt Records.

Originally released in 1978, in the UK only on the Grove Music label.
Good condition originals now fetch over 200 pounds and it's not hard to hear why.
This is a very fine dub album. Every track a real head nodder.
Vivian Jackson (AKA Yabby You) produces excellent riddims supplied by a youthful Sly & Robbie,
before their unique sound was distilled, whilst Tubby and Prince Jammy provide the mixes.
Tommy McCook, Skully, Chinna, Ansel Collins and Bernard Harvey supply the high notes.

BRRWD is a label collabo between Ta-ku/ repeat pattern & Jakarta Records.
Yagi is producer, Toru Yaginuma from Saitama Japan. As co-founder of Tokyo's TRANE event, Yagi has been involved with Tokyo's vital beat scene for the past 5 years. It is through exactely that small community of Tokyo beat producers that Yagi, Repeat Pattern and Ta-ku first became aquatinted.
Bellwoods is a collection of beats created during a one year stay in Toronto, Canada. Sourcing the core of it's sound from folk records, Bellwoods is, for the most part a collection of experimental beats that fall somewhere between ambient and more hip hop informed sample music. Although firmly belonging to neither, this music will be of interest to those who enjoy nostalgic soundscapes and heavy kicks.

In 2016 the world seems to be more connected in communication, yet more segregated in culture than ever. It is a time for fresh ideas about re-connecting things. David Nesselhauf, producer, composer and multi instrumentalist from Hamburg/Germany gives it a try. His new album re-visits a time in the Seventies, when innovative bands like Can were working on a rhythmic and experimental fusion of African music and German rock, which was labelled "Afrokraut".
Nesselhauf's modern take on "Afrokraut" goes beyond the standards of contemporary electronic, jazz, pop or club music. As much as the thirteen tracks on the album nod towards the dance floor as their common factor, they also address topics as migration and exclusion and take a strong stand for global togetherness. Just listen to the opening tracks "Boat Mama" and "Outer Banks" and you see what Nesselhauf is on about. Recorded and mixed on vintage equipment at Dennis Rux's ultra-cool Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Studios in Hamburg, "Afrokraut" sounds deep, authentic and visionary at the same time. Renowned Dutch artist Chantal Rens delivered a strong statement for the cover artwork: "I am especially excited about Chantal's work for my album", says David Nesselhauf.
With a diverse catalogue of albums ranging from electro to doom to look back on, his works with funk celebrities Diazpora as their bass player and collaborations or production with Pee Wee Ellis, Lew Soloff (Blood, Sweat & Tears), Flo Mega or Faust, running his own little record label as well as his education at the Drummer's Collective in NYC David Nesselhauf is a well established player in the German independent music scene. "Afrokraut" features a range of musical guests. Amadou Bah is the vocalist on the first single "Come Along Bintang Bolong", an irresistible Afrobeat burner, Diazpora drummer Lucas Kochbeck is an integral part on various album highlights, most notably the mysterious "A Route Obscure" and the intense "Dirt Track". Then, of course, we have the sweet and groovy vocals of Kinga Lizz and Nabil Atassi on the funky "Open Up!".
"This album is something I wanted to release for a long time", explains David Nesselhauf. "I was always fascinated by this little forgotten era in the history of German popular music that was labelled 'Afrokraut'. It was full of unique vibes, never fully explored and suddenly it was gone. And to be honest, the message carried through this music is more valid than it ever was."
"Afrokraut" is released on LP, limited edition CD and digital download on Legère Recordings.

The Fruit Band's fleeting existence was only recently revealed by the discovery of a few unsold copies of their sole 1978 single,Say It, which quickly became a cult showpiece for savvy DJs and collectors. Athens of the North has since reached out to Cypress Studios of Jacksonville, Florida and discovered a complete album of the group's stylish, dancefloor-smashing funk and deep disco on tape, unreleased for over 30 years. Vinyl is presented in a Handmade cardboard Tip-On Sleeve as would have been used at the time as only the best will do.

It is a rare occasion that two really good versions of one and the same song is recorded by one artist. Gloria Rosebud Black did just that. Despite the title both versions have not much in common. The fast version of Would You Believe might be even considered as pre-disco while the slow version on the flip has a distinct, moody late 1960s feel to it. Both versions are featured on the same 45 for the very first time. For what'cha waitin' Get it now!

- 03: Under Your Noise
- 04: Move On
- 05: Indecisive
One Plus One/Indecisive is the 7" release from the debut EP by Melbourne band The Do Yo Thangs- a collection of sensual slow jams and bumping future soul dominated by rich, four-voice harmonies.
One Plus One is equal parts performance and programming, drawing from a broad palette of live instruments and electronic sounds. At the front, Hugh and Audrey alternate lead vocal duties, supported by harmony singers Maddie Otto and Tiaryn Griggs. Backing them, the guitar sound is classic soul but the plethora of synthesizers and 808 kick drums is definitely not, nodding equally to Vangelis or Hiatus Kaiyote. The more you listen, the more intricacy is discovered. The writing uses jazz elements and odd rhythmic devices, but it's all tucked away - there's nothing that intrudes into the foreground or interferes with the song's abilities to speak to an audience.
- Debut release from HopeStreet Recordings latest signing, The Do Yo Thangs.
- Limited run 7" vinyl pressing with 'One Plus One' and 'Indecisive'. Includes full artwork cover.
- 7" includes digital download of the full 5-track EP.
- 'One Plus One' accompanied by an official video clip.

Slick, sultry and sublime RnB infused with Soul & Jazz
Originating in Belgium at the tail end of the 1960s and into the 70s, Popcorn was a music and dance scene with an emphasis on often obscure black American records of the then recent past. Drawing immediate parallels with the UK's Northern Soul scene from approximately the same time, young people would flock from all corners of Belgium to cram into a converted farmhouse barn to dance to these exotic sounds. But whilst Northern favoured an often uptempo, stomping 60s soul sound, popcorn focused almost entirely on slower, moodier numbers.
In recent years, collectors and DJs into vintage soul and R&B have been tuning into the Popcorn style - yet there still remains some confusion as to what exactly Popcorn means in musical terms. Not following established genre conventions, The Popcorn sound is hard to pin down - there are Soul, Blues, Ska, Pop, Jazz and Latin records which are all Popcorn - and all are represented here.
Whilst the sound has caught the attention of many forward thinking DJs, the origins and background of the Belgium Popcorn scene remain little documented. With sleeve notes from original Popcorn insider Gerd De Wilde and his contacts within the original Belgium Popcorn scene, this album looks to change that. Along with never previously published vintage flyers and photographs and combined with the 24 tracks of heady, intoxicating R&B, Blues, Soul and Jazz, 'Follow Me To The Popcorn' is almost certainly the fullest document yet of the important, influential and yet so often misunderstood Belgium Popcorn scene.
· 2LP gatefold with download card and free sticker
· CD set with 8 page colour booklet
· Liner notes based on our exclusive interviews with the original pioneering Belgium Popcorn DJs
· Previously unpublished photos from Popcorn club nights from the early 70s
· Flyer gallery of early Popcorn events

Perhaps it's something in the water or just plain vodka, we really have no idea but one thing is for sure - there's something special about those Moscow disco heads. They sure know how to find a perfect beat and re-edit it to perfection. After Lay-Far it's now time for Arsenii to step into the Basic Fingers arena.
Both sides on this 12 are filled with Jazz-Funk and library infused disco at its best. 'Allegria' sounds like Bob James is jamming with The Headhunters and on the flip 'Turbo' with its generous use of synthesizers almost has an outer space theme.
Essential indulgence for disco heads & connoisseurs everywhere.

Originally based in Galicia, Clara grew up with the Porto Rico sound of Reggaeton, quite popular in the discotheques down the Galicia beaches, from her teenage years.
Reggaetoneras 2' is a mixtape made with a selection of 100% Reggaeton female MCs, from 90s jams to more recent riddims. The style of the mix is influenced by French hip-hop DJs like Cut
Killer and DJ Poska or from the mighty compilations Double Face' from DJ Kost & DJ Goldfingers. Collages, scratch, edits, AV8 skits, with the help of DJ David Coquelin, are coming all around her
mixtape. t's an excellent introduction to the dembow rhythms which so strongly inform current dance music, from the mega pop hits of Bieber and Drake thru to the avant output of Arca or Kamixlo. n another, it's also an expertly curated and researched compilation of music that lies beyond the reach and knowledge of scene outsiders.s Essentially, however, it's a perfect summer session, crammed with rude drums and hooks evered from major dance hits, and sandwiched with skits and personal edits to form the kind of informative and hugely entertaining mixtape you can reach for over and again...

Joining the ZamZam ranks with # 43, Versa (AKA Michael Nickless AKA Michael Versa) is well known to sound system music addicts from a string of wicked releases beginning in 2009, most recently a pair of highly sought after plates on the mighty System label. Versa's productions are known for extremely powerful basslines, a deeply dubwise production sensibility and masterful sound design.
A Midsummer Night's Dub' is a truly blissful 130 stepper, let by an unforgettable, filigreed melody threading Occident and Orient. Washed out yet insistent hi hats and claps locked with a deeply melodic bassline drive the riddim, augmented by beautifully delayed guitar licks and mixing prowess reminiscent of classic Dub Syndicate updated for the modern sound system dance.
Versa is joined by frequent sparring partner Rowl on the B side, Trimorphic,' an extraordinarily deep and emotive journey into 140 space. Powered by a tight staccato kick and equally clipped sub line, the tune revels in deep pads with a pedigree in the best of classic dub techno. Accented by fluttering percussion, gorgeous synth washes and restrained, masterful dubbing, Trimorphic" is a journey for those who like to plumb the depths unchained from convention - real Sounds from The Well.

Recorded from Rudy's homemade studio in Hampton Virginia before he cut "searching for love" on harvest records around 1983, he did this wonderful modern synth winner. With Rudy just having one pass on a Reel of this song, we re-mastered it a little at The Super Disco HQ to give it a brighter feel. Sure it's pretty lo-fi but the quality of the song writing playing and melodies are more than enough to let it see the joys of a turntable. This is once again a limited press one of run of music

Word.

Z Records continues its commitment to unearthing the obscure and long forgotten tracks from the last 40 years
through the ever-popular Under The Influence series. Following on from Red Greg, Paul Phillips, James Glass
and Nick The Record it's now the turn of another of the worlds most respected record collectors to put
together their selection. This time it's long time Z Records album co-compiler Sean P.
Alongside Joey Negro, Sean P has been responsible for some killer selections for their Soul of Disco and
Supafunkanova series, all of which feature tracks from Sean's vast record collection. He has been collecting
records since his early years, producing and releasing his own edits way before they became the norm and is
widely recognized as one of the foremost fountains of musical knowledge so to say he is a stalwart of the
underground music scene is well deserved.
For his UTI album he goes even deeper and much more across the board with tracks taking in afro, soul, funk,
disco, Brit Funk, dub and jazz with many of the tracks costing hundreds if you were able to find the originals.

Splendor & Misery is an Afrofuturist, dystopian concept album that follows the sole survivor of a slave uprising on an interstellar cargo ship, and the onboard computer that falls in love with him. Thinking he is alone and lost in space, the character discovers music in the ship's shuddering hull and chirping instrument panels. William and Jonathan's tracks draw an imaginary sonic map of the ship's decks, hallways, and quarters, while Daveed's lyrics ride the rhythms produced by its engines and machinery. In a reversal of H.P. Lovecraft's concept of cosmic insignificance, the character finds relief in learning that humanity is of no consequence to the vast, uncaring universe. It turns out, pulling the rug out from under anthropocentrism is only horrifying to those who thought they were the center of everything to begin with. Ultimately, The character decides to pilot his ship into the unknown—and possibly into oblivion—instead of continuing on to worlds whose systems of governance and economy have violently oppressed him.

Reiner Witzel is a German Jazz musician born in Mannheim. He is said to be one of the best Jazz-sax-players nowadays and won several awards. Moreover he played with the Bundesjazzorchester, Philipp van Endert (Urban Lyrical), the Gil Evans Orchestra, Marla Glen, Kristi Stassinopoulou, the hr-Bigband and Fury in the Slaughterhouse. Besides his work as a musician he is also busy as a photographer and portrayed Lionel Richie or Roger Cicero, a. o.. Linernotes by Reiner Witzel:
When I met Asterios Papastamatakis in Athen's trendy downtown district Keramikos in the fall of 2014 there was immediate sympathy. We talked about music and live and made plans to play together. Shortly later he invited me to join his trio "Datfunk" for some concerts in Greece, the following year I invited the group to Germany. Playing with "Datfunk", who had been playing frequently in clubs in and around Athens felt great, the sound of the trio was so soulful and funky ... and since I had the
idea in mind, to do a soul-jazz-record for quite a while I realized that now I had found the right team to record it:
Asterios Papastamatakis, a never-resting organ activist, a soulful virtuoso full of depth, Michael Kapilidis, one of Greek`s most wanted drummers, who is coming from a background with lots of musicians in the family-tree and whose style of playing is really unique and Adedeji Adetajo, originally from Lagos/Nigeria, who came to Athens in 2007 and mixed up the scene with his funky guitar-style. In December 2015 we went to the studio in Athens and recorded two late-night-sessions. The atmosphere was energetic, but still relaxed and friendly.
The result are these 10 songs, that we would now like to share with you.
