Hip-Hop Vinyl New Releases - News

Featuring Natasha Watts backed with amazing DJ Format remixes!

At the close of a marathon year supporting their breakthrough album, Con Todo El Mundo (out now on Night Time Stories), Khruangbin return with an exciting addition - an update on Vince Guaraldi's timeless 'Christmas Time Is Here.'

"Growing up the three of us all had very different Christmases,' says bassist Laura Lee. 'But we recently discovered we all had the exact same favourite Christmas song. When we realized it, we sat down to play it and it came together instantly. In 15 minutes, we had this recorded. It was like the best Christmas present ever.'

With ambling sweetness and a fresh, beat-driven groove, Khruangbin have taken this oft-covered classic and made it wholly their own.

Shake-A-Leg (SAL) is the monthly club-night of Jerker Kluge and
Tobias Kirmayer in Munich. After two years doing SAL they thought it is
time to manifest the concept of the party on a compilation. Both Jerker
and Tobias are not only local DJs but certainly enrich the worldwide Funk,
Soul and Jazz community with their work.

The Soul Dynamics original 45rpm single "Stay In The Groove" is without a doubt a Holy-Grail in the collectors world. It took Tramp Records owner Tobias Kirmayer more than two years to secure the rights to officially re-release this beauty in its full glory. As all of the recently released 7" re-issues on Tramp this one is also limited to 275 copies. Grab it quickly and play it out loud - this is heavy funk at its best.

Dusty archives, the backrooms of record stores, private reel to reel stashes, master tapes - these are the environs of the Dynamic Range experience.
Dynamic Range is a new label focused on unearthing deep Soul, Funk and Disco jams that continue to resonate with todays dancers and DJ's. Time spent scouring the bowels of the majors and independents has unsurprisingly resulted in numerous gems being added to the DR wants list. High quality, fully licensed reissues are the order of the day, always taken from the correct master source and re-presented to hungry record heads the world over. To repeat, this is a fully legit operation - Avoid the sharks at all costs!

George Benson's name is legendary, his much vaunted career in music has spanned decades, styles, trends and tastes. A prodigious jazz, funk & fusion guitarist and vocalist, Benson cut his teeth in the 1960's releasing music on labels such as CTI, Paul Winley, A&M and Warner Brothers. He has had numerous hit records throughout his career and maintained the respect and credibility that he built from the ground up, influencing generations of musicians, artists & producers. His 1977 version of the classic 'The World Is A Ghetto' features beautiful string-laden production and of course, Benson's languid guitar playing that graces the wonderful Claus Ogerman arrangements effortlessly. As well as being an underground disco classic, this amazing groove has been sampled by numerous contemporary producers, most notable Moodymann, Kanye West, Bob Sinclair and many more, a testament to the lush production and soul contained within the grooves of this classic. This repress is programmed exactly like the '77 disco promo 12" that record pool members and DJ's would have received and due to licensing constraints it features the same 9 minute 41 second mix on both sides.

All music selected by the Dynamic Range team / Licensed and reissued by Above Board distribution in conjunction with Warner Music.
Remastered with love by Optimum Mastering, Bristol UK. Artwork and design by Atelier Superplus. 2018.
