Haftbefehl hat in seinen Tracks noch nie die vermeintlich glorreichen Geschichten aus den überzeichneten Gangsterfilmen Hollywoods nachgespielt.
Vielmehr hat Aykut Anhan sich selbst auf den Straßen von Offenbach und Frankfurt durchgekämpft. 28 Jahre lang.
Und genau davon erzählt er auf den 14 Tracks seines neuen, vierten Albums Russisch Roulette. Haftbefehl lässt sein turbulentes Leben zwischen dem Dasein als stadtbekannter Drogendealer und angehender Rapstar Revue passieren.
So rücksichtslos, wahnsinnig und impulsiv, so bedrohlich und unberechenbar wie auf Russisch Roulette hat man Haftbefehl noch nicht gehört. Während er 2010 mit Azzlack Stereotyp den Grundstein für seine Karriere legte, Kanackis, seinen Status 2012 eindrucksvoll manifestierte und ihn das Doppelalbum »Blockplatin« im letzten Jahr endgültig auf die vorderen Ränge der Deutschrap-Garde beförderte, ist Russisch Roulette ein musikalischer Mittelfinger, der Haftbefehls Status als glaubwürdigster und spannendster Charakter im deutschen Straßenrap nicht nur unterstreicht, sondern dabei auch keine weiteren Fragen offenlässt und alle Nachahmer eindrucksvoll in ihre Schranken weißt.

'Born To Mack' is the first full length album by Oakland native Too Short, and his first major album release. Originally released on Dangerous Music in 1987 and was a nationwide underground sensation. Featuring the classic track 'Freaky Tales' this is the album that launched Too Short to stardom. In 1998, the album was selected as one of The Source's 100 Best Rap Albums, and the song "Freaky Tales" reached #92 on the 100 Greatest Rap Songs. Reissued on 180 gram vinyl by Plain Recordings.

Die A-Seite "Boomshell Bounce" ist ein hypnotisierender Ragga-Hip Hop-Floorfiller, der schon seit geraumer Zeit bei vielen DJs im Einsatz ist. Das außergewöhnliche Vocalfeature von "T-Boogie" treibt das Ganze nach vorne. Der Newcomer aus Berlin war die Neuentdeckung des Jahres 2014. Unvergessen sind z.B. die Auftritte zusammen mit Marteria und DJ Coolmann (Fünf Sterne Deluxe). Weitere Vocals kommen vom jamaikanischen Reggae-Artist Wayne Wonder, der spätestens seit seinem Hit "No Letting Go" weltweit bekannt wurde. FloFilz grew up in Belgium and lives currently in Aachen where his studies violin. When it comes to his own beats, jazz reigns supreme over nearly any other music. The 'Take Time' EP arrives in the middle of Mumdance's stunning run of recent form, which has seen the producer craft 2013's acclaimed Twists & Turns mixtape, release a series of starkly experimental yet devilishly funky club beasts in collaboration with Logos and Pinch, and travel to Cairo to work with local musicians as part of Rinse FM's Cairo Calling project.

The EP's title track draws upon Mumdance's long-standing love of grime, crafting a tightly coiled, ten-ton heavy club riddim, all frostbitten drums and shockingly stripped-back midrange, powerful enough to carve a rift deep into the mix. It features the quick-witted vocal play of rising London MC Novelist, whose bars dart swift and sharp through the track's acres of frozen space.

'The Sprawl' is pure futurist brutalism, all rattling bass pulses, eski clicks and broken propulsion reminiscent of Mumdance and Pinch's recent club heartstopper 'Turbo Mitzi'. 'Don't Get Lemon', produced in collaboration with much-loved grime veteran Spyro, completes the EP. Beginning life as an abstract, darkly cheeky devil mix, it switches mode midway into a freakily lonely, rain-soaked urban lullaby; an abrupt jolt in mood that, like the rest of the EP, is as bracing yet refreshing as being dunked in ice-cold water.]

Following the launch of what most critics (Billboard, Pitchfork, NPR amongst them) are calling one of the best rap records (if not one of the best records) of the year, producer Madlib and rapper Freddie Gibbs reunite for a final EP - Knicks Remix. This EP contains exclusive tracks not available on the pair's Piñata album. "Knicks," in remixed form, now features a new verse by Gibbs alongside Action Bronson, Joey Bada$$ and Ransom. The B-side, "Home," features BJ The Chicago Kid - the velvet voiced vocalist from the duo's earlier "Shame" - and Madlib's two-part soul-flip carries Gibb's narrative about a traveling man's disregard for his woman at home. Both sides are completed by previously unheard Madlib instrumentals.

The First Word French invasion continues! Will Galland aka Quiet Dawn is the newest signing to our label, joining fellow Gallic producers Souleance on our ever-expanding roster. The Parisian producer has grown from his hip hop roots (including an EP on Feelin' Music as part of Beat Consortium) adding broken beat and house to his soulful musical palate. His debut album 'The First Day' will be released on FW in early 2015 - until then we have the first single 'New Dawn' featuring the incomparable Oddisee on vocal duties.

Over a lilting hip hop beat with sloping bass and shuffling percussion Oddisee drops trademark thoughtful lyricism in his inimitably languid style. The 7" vinyl release features a remix from in-demand producer Eric Lau, who adds heavy drums and an addictive hook to the original. Since their BBC Maida Vale session for Steve Lamacq in 2012, Soccer96 have been wowing rock, jazz, electronic and all kinds of audiences with their frenetic yet devastatingly tight live sets.
On 'Jupiter Masterdrive' the London synth and drum duo further hone their blend of jazz, prog and electronica within the confines of brevity demanded by the 7" format. Recorded direct-to-tape over a few heady sessions, these tracks bear the palpably unfolding, organic beauty of improvisation and live recording while conveying ever deeper levels to the pair's musical and artistic vision. The band recorded these pieces in constant experimentation with their tape machine, trying different approaches and techniques for each track; this is a small glimpse into the process and a tantalising sample from an expansive body of recordings.
'Constellation' creates a drugged out, noir-ish setting with its sighing melodies and enigmatic cadences but the booming kicks and pistol-crack rimshots swagger through exotic back alleys, taking pot-shots in the murk and gloom. 'Flight Formation' recalls the most jazz informed reaches of Detroit techno, so much so that house maestro Glenn Astro couldn't help but offer up an extended DJ-friendly edit. The earthy, melancholy bassline threads its way through a percussive crescendo while hypnotic, interlocking keyboard patterns cycle steadfastly in the background. 'Step Overs' lurches into being, all its disconnected drums assembling and lining up like a firing squad to deliver a barrage of beat-blasts, resulting in a spandau ballet of synth spasms.
This release is not just the sound of immensely talented players exploring their shared chemistry and technologies. Instead it could be seen as a manifesto for how to successfully use live instruments to interpret today's myriad strands of electronic music. And it fits in perfectly with WotNot's own mantra of focusing on innovation and imagination to deliver music that stimulates and delights

The second release on Kutmah's IZWID imprint is a rare collection of bugged out electronic soul from the Los Angeles-based vocalist, producer and poet, Seven Davis Jr. "The Lost Tapes Vol. 1" spans 12 years of experimental, cosmic out-of-body-and-mind music, of mostly four and eight track recordings once lost in storage via a lengthly hiatus due to drug addiction and depression.
Resurfacing in 2012, Seven Davis Jr.'s 'Thanks' appeared on Kutmah's much lauded "Worldwide Family Vol. 2" compilation on Brownswood Recordings, after which the kaleidoscopic artist released the clattering funked beats of "Lo-Fi Vintage" and house-inspired "One" EP.
For IZWID, "The Lost Tapes Vol. 1" is a creative blueprint for Davis Jr.'s brilliantly unorthodox approach with his beautifully raw drums and psychotropic harmonies. "I made a lot of this music many years ago and other labels and artists hated on me for it," says Davis Jr. of the lost tapes. "They said it was too weird, too different, sounded like drug music (it was) and they told me I was going to hell, for 'Pornostar'. Years later; new life, new city, new day and age. I found the music again, which I never stopped loving and decided to send it all to Kutmah.
