dem Produzenten J Dilla (A Tribe Called Quest) auf. Anders als ihre anderen Alben verzichtet „The Grind
Date“ auf Skits und Interludes und gilt als durchweg hochwertiges Album ohne Füllmaterial. Es enthält
außerdem vier instrumentale Bonustracks

When we last heard from Bay Area producer DEAD PERRY, he was riding high on the critical success of "The Art Of Re-Animation" album. That album was a re-imagining of legendary Hieroglyphics crew emcee Casual's work from his "Big Head Science" album.

However on the forthcoming "Acoustic Shadows" album, as the title implies things get a bit dark. As he relays "when I made (The Art Of Reanimation) with Cas, I wanted to cater to the specific sound that Hieroglyphics has, but put my spin on it without making it too dark (though there are a couple of dark gems sprinkled throughout). I knew that my next album was going to be a solo LP and I wanted it to be something special. Dark and grimy has always been my style of beat making so I wanted to showcase that with this record."

However, the title also has a double meaning to the producer. "The term Acoustic Shadows comes from a Civil War phenomenon that refers to a sonic blind spot. Due to geographical obstructions disrupting sound waves you could think you are a great distance from the battlefield while you could already be in it. It also refers to my style keeping to the shadows and out of the limelight, when I only appear in photos wearing a mask, it's not because I'm on that post MF Doom craze, it's because I came from graffiti and graffiti artists let their art be their only face to the public."

That style is showcased throughout the forthcoming album, including his choice of collaborators include Casual, Daniel Son, Estee Nack, Al Divino, Raz Fresco, Ill Bill, Goretex, Hus Kingpin, Crimeapple, Planet Asia, Da Flyy Hooligan, Izrell, P-Dirt, J-Spliff and cuts from DJ Eclipse. Concepts also lent itself to the grime including the John Carpenter-esque synth laden "Call Me Snake" track, which inadvertently inspired the emcees. As DEAD PERRY relates "I give the beats a place-holder title until the track is done so this one was 'Die Kurt Russ.' P-Dirt chose to create the concept off the beat title. Crafting that song was a fun experience." It also has a full circle moment as DEAD PERRY and Casual expand their "White Crown" single from their previous project on this release enlisting Planet Asia to drop an additional Afro-Centric verse.

In the Beginning (Vol. 2) continues the treasure trove of the early works of Declaime & Madlib, the longtime collaborators who helped usher in a new sound and style from the city of Oxnard, Calif. This collection is brimming with previously unheard tracks from this beyond-creative duo that blends hip-hop with funk, jazz, soul, and psychedelia to lay the groundwork for so many other emcees and producers.

For Declaime (a/k/a Dudley Perkins), this series serves as a way to honor his friends and the city that raised them. He shouts out names like The Almighty Metaphor (aka MED), Oh No the Disrupt, DJ Romes, Kazi, and more, who he says “created a lane for the city of Oxnard to get the recognition it deserves.” Some of them make an appearance in one form or another on this collection, too—Romes, for example, mastered the project—that compiles 10 previously lost tracks that were recorded from 1993 to ‘96.

In The Beginning (Vol. 2) is entirely produced by Madlib, who provided all the cuts as well. His instrumentals are on that raw and dusty vibe as they move freely through genres and sounds, like on standout cuts “Bandwagon,”WLIX,” and “Signs (feat. Wildchild).” Those are all highlights for Declaime, too, and they demonstrate his ability to blend his observations of the world with bravado and third-eye insights. Even as young kids just getting their feet wet in the studio, these two were firmly on their path.

As deem spencer gets into the flow of his purpose, that is being a provider, he’s cautioned by overarching worries of impending doom. The 27-year-old emcee has heard that in the next lifetime, New York City could be underwater – but even in these current tides of chaos, the native reflects and retraces his upbringing while wading towards a hopeful future on his third album, adultSW!M.

Five years into his journey, deem has elevated his craft while remaining grounded in the likelihood of being on to greater heights. Introspective in nature, deem’s abstract quality is both intrinsic and groundbreaking in the contemporary New York hip-hop landscape.

adultSW!M showcases evocative bars with worthwhile collaborations, while also making strides as a producer working alongside a few ‘flower shop’ favorites .On his latest, deem’s pensive mood hasn’t left – it’s evolved.

In 2026, the sample alchemist returns to his first love with his 11th album, Endless Smile 2. A 16-track project conceived as a tribute to his landmark 2015 album Endless Smile, which featured his iconic tracks “Betty” and “Qu’attendez-vous de moi”.

Born from a desire to return to the essentials, Endless Smile 2 focuses on instrumental compositions enriched with samples and organic textures inspired by the 70s. The album develops a warm and sun-soaked atmosphere, crossed by the melancholic touch that defines Degiheugi’s musical universe.

Recorded between 2023 and 2025 in his studio Endless Smile Records and mixed by his longtime collaborator Mr. Gib, the album opens with the trip-hop anthem “The Last Opening”. Far from being a simple introduction, it acts as a true gateway into Degiheugi’s new sonic journey. Keyboards set the tone, the horn section led by N’Zeng invites listeners into the groove, while guitars and organic keyboards immerse us fully into his musical world. The scene is set: he’s back.

Among the standout tracks, “Ain’t Goin Down” delivers a reggae-influenced groove driven by a message of hope, while “Vem O Mar” (feat. Hugo Kant) explores funk and tropical soundscapes. “Ipanemax”, a nod to the classic “The Girl From Ipanema”, and “Ouh Baby” extend this Brazilian atmosphere, while “Savoir Danser” leans toward oriental textures and “Juanita Bonita” ventures into a bold fusion of cumbia and dub.

The album also reveals Degiheugi’s signature melancholic side. An addictive loop settles deep into the listener’s mind as “Sympathique et sympa” balances nostalgia with urban groove. The haunting strings of “Naked” and the soul ballad “She Worries” respectively reflect on mortality and the fragility of romantic relationships. Guest artist Miscellaneous addresses gender-based violence on “Love Is Blind”, telling the story of a woman trapped in a toxic relationship.

Endless Smile 2 closes with “Enivrez-vous”, an outro inspired by Charles Baudelaire’s poem, bringing the album to a contemplative conclusion. With this release, Degiheugi masterfully completes a musical journey that began ten years ago.

4:99 is an album by pioneering German hip hop band Die Fantastischen Vier, reaching number one in the album charts in Germany, Austria, and Swiss. The record includes the successful single MfG. The rest of the album mostly follows the clean, tight production and a general screw towards pop-oriented hip-hop. Their mostly humorous but also profound lyrics invariably attract people to dance and sing along.

Teilweise wirkte das Album wie ein Befreiungsschlag. Die Band eroberte musikalisches Neuland und zeigte sich experimentierfreudig wie nie zuvor! Kaum jemand hätte der rappenden Viererbande zu dieser Zeit wohl ein jazziges und wohltemperiertes Stück wie ”Tag am Meer” zugetraut. Weitere Überraschungen auf dem Longplayer waren ”Schizophren” und ”Ganz Normal”.

Nach 33 Jahren Bandkarriere holen die Fantastischen Vier in 2022 ihre Jubiläumstour zum 30-jährigen nach und spielten am 18. Juni das erste gefeierte Stadion-Konzert der laufenden Tournee.
Über 250.000 begeisterte Fans werden die Fantastischen Vier in diesem Jahr auf der „Für immer 30 Jahre Live Tour“ begrüßen.
Im Kölner RheinEnergie Stadion feierten über 33.000 Fans bei legendär-heißen Temperaturen eine große Party und zelebrierten das so lange vermisste Konzert-Feeling weit über die Zugabe hinaus. Der Konzertfilm sowie die Live-Aufnahmen auf 3-fach Vinyl und Audio CD der Show sind ab sofort vorbestellbar.

”Heimspiel” erscheint zum ersten Mal auf Vinyl und ist als 4-fach in 180gr. Vinyl ab dem 09.12.2019 erhältlich.


60.000 Fans pilgerten am 25.07.2009 auf den Cannstatter Wasen in Stuttgart um die größte Geburtstagsparty der Nation zu feiern. Das "Heimspiel" der Fantastischen Vier war das wohl wichtigste Nachhausekommen der gesamten Saison.

Begleitet von ihrer exzellenten Liveband sowie dem Orchester des staatlichen Bolschoi-Orchesters aus Minsk boten sie ein fast dreistündiges Set - ein spannender, behutsam modernisierter und brillant aufpolierter Streifzug durch zwei Jahrzehnte Text-, Musik- und Rap-Kunst.

Es sah aus wie beim ersten Mal und doch war nichts wie damals: 10 Jahre ist es bereits her, seit sich Die Fantastischen Vier mit ihrem MTV Unplugged 2 (der Unplugged-Erstling ist sage und schreibe 22 Jahre alt) mühelos selbst getoppt und in der Balver Höhle einen Rebound hingelegt haben, der sich gewaschen hatte. Die Fortsetzung, die ohne Umwege auf die #1 der Album-Charts schoss, beeindruckte Kritiker, Fans und Presse mit enormer musikalischer Bandbreite und erstaunlicher Instrumentenvielfalt. 24 Musiker ergänzten die ohnehin schon gut eingespielte Kern-Band der Fantastischen Vier. Der Jump-Around-Smasher »Populär« zum Beispiel wird zur kubanischen Salsa, die Bandhymne »Was wollen wir noch mehr« eröffnet mit furiosem Flamenco-Solo und das gitarrenlastige »Ernten was wir säen« ersteht als Classic-Rock-Kammermusik-Fusion wieder auf. Beim 140bpm-Rap »Smudo in Zukunft« wird der bandeigene Gospelchor vom gesamten Höhlenpublikum in Robe unterstützt und das extensive Unterhaltungsspektrum der Fantas humorvoll musikalisch weiter ausgebaut.. Das Meisterwerk feiert im Oktober diesen Jahres sein 10-jähriges Jubiläum. Zu diesem Anlass wird das MTV Unplugged 2 in einer neuen, spektakulären 3D Dolby Atmos Sound-Mischung exklusiv bei Apple Music und auf Blu-ray erscheinen. Vinyl-Liebhaber kommen mit dem Jubiläums-Box-Set auf maximalen Hörgenuss, denn außer der Deluxe Doppel-CD mit 28-seitigem Booklet und Blu-ray mit Dolby Atmos enthält die Box auch eine ganz besondere, unveröffentlichte, analoge AAA-Aufnahme: eben der Digital-Produktion wurde das MTV Unplugged 2 damals separat live auf zwei Studer 2-Zoll Analog-Bandmaschinen komplett analog aufgenommen. Dieser analoge Schatz wurde nun knapp 10 Jahre später aus den Archiven gehoben und schließlich analog gemischt und analog gemastert. So wurde die analoge Kette nicht unterbrochen und die aufwändigen Orchester-Arrangements in wunderbar analoger Aufnahmequalität auf Platte gepresst. Die Jubiläums-Neuauflage übererfüllt also digital wie analog was die legendäre MTV Unplugged-Reihe verspricht: Ein Sound-Erlebnis in allen Dimensionen.

”REKORD” erscheint in der Originalausstattung als 180 Gramm Doppel-Vinyl

Im Rahmen des 30-jährigen Bandjubiläums wird das Album „Rekord“, welches seinerzeit zum 25-jährigen Bandjubiläum am 24.10.2014 erschien, auf Vinyl gepresst.

Für den Jubiläumstitel „25“ sang Don Snow aka Jonn Savannah seinen Hit "25 Years" mit leicht verändertem Text extra für die Fantastischen Vier neu ein. Und zwar auf Deutsch inklusive charmantem englischem Akzent. Es spricht für die typische Fanta4-Symbiose aus Humor und gleichzeitiger popmusikalischer Sensation, wenn sie sich für Don Snow aus zwei Gründen interessieren. Zum einen, weil das originale „25 Years“-Sample von „The Catch“ aus den 80er Jahren, und damit der Gründungsära der Fantastischen Vier, von ihm selbst ist und weil man als Hip Hop Band nicht Nein sagen kann, ein Feature mit einem Artist zu machen, dessen Name wie der eines Drogenbarons aus Miami klingt. Don Snow jedenfalls hatte sich mittlerweile umbenannt. In Jonn Savannah. Der Track feierte im Dezember 2014 bei Wetten Dass..? TV-Premiere.

Tobias Rüther / FAZ schrieb dazu:
„…und wollte man die Band in einem Satz erklären, könnte man zum Beispiel schreiben: Die Fantastischen Vier haben es mit Unbeirrbarkeit, Humor und einem großen Gespür für die Haken, die ein Song schlagen muss, damit ein Hit aus ihm wird, geschafft, dass es heute möglich ist, ein Wort alter Schule wie „Silberhochzeit“ zu rappen.
Ganz schön langer Satz. Ganz schön lange Zeit. Vor fünfundzwanzig Jahren war deutscher Rap entweder unvorstellbar oder eine Sache für Spezialisten, die sich nach und nach in Richtungskämpfen um die wahre Weisheit des Hiphop zerlegten.

Ohne die Fantastischen Vier und ihren Glauben ans Populäre und die Kunst des Entertainments wäre das wohl nicht so gekommen.“

Rekord - das neunte reguläre Studioalbum - stieg direkt auf Platz 1 der deutschen Charts ein und wurde mit Gold ausgezeichnet.

Als sie VIEL produzierten, stehen Die Fantastischen Vier fünf Jahre nach dem letzten Stuttgart-Album „4:99“ eindeutig unter Comeback-Druck. Viel steht auf dem Spiel, denn der coole Real- und Feuilleton-Hit „MfG“ war so gut, dass sich jeder weitere Hitversuch gefälligst verbittet. Dabei strecken sie auch erstmals die Fühler nach Co-Produzenten aus, die fortan nahezu auf allen künftigen Fanta-Alben mitmischen sollten. Die Vier befinden sich immer noch in einer Zäsur und sind von Stuttgart in alle Himmelsrichtungen weggezogen.

Das Musikportal Laut.de sah in VIEL eine musikalische Bandbreite, die der „Vierten Dimension“ zur Ehre gereicht. VIEL ist flott, elektronisch und selbstironisch bis dorthinaus. So hat sich die Band selbst eine Diss-Strophe geschrieben, die von niemand geringerer als Sabrina Setlur höchstpersönlich vorgetragen wurde. Und der Wunsch der Band, nach reichlich Solo-Alben zwischen 1999 und 2004 endlich die alten Fantas wieder zu haben, hat den Fans den Evergreen „Troy“ beschert - eine Hymne der Band an ihre Fans.

Digga D returns with his highly-anticipated third mixtape, Noughty By Nature. Lead Single 'G Lock’ featuring US rap star, Moneybagg Yo follows on from Digga’s previous releases which include ‘2K17’, ‘Pump 101’ and ‘Wasted’, the latter two of which were his second and third top 10 records. Since the release of his critically acclaimed 2021 mixtape, Made In The Pyrex – a project which showcased the lyrical dexterity of the West-London rapper – Digga D has firmly cemented his position within drill, a genre which he has dominantly spearheaded over the last few years.

Dilated Peoples is the Los Angeles hip hop trio that achieved great success in the underground hip hop community during the Nineties and Zeroes. The trio consisted of Evidence, Rakaa Iriscience and DJ Babu. Their fourth studio album 20/20 was originally release in 2006. The album’s lead single “Back Again” made a strong impact, partly due to MTV refusing to play the video, due to a scene in which Rakaa wore a bulletproof vest. “Back Again” and the title track were both produced by acclaimed producer The Alchemist. In addition, the album features guest performances by Dr. Greenthumb, Talib Kweli, Krondon, Defari and Capleton.

'Dry Water Wet Land' is the debut album by underground Detroit rapper Dirtee Curt, set for release by Australian based label Fifty Records. Featuring production from Dakim and Ahkatari, the album pairs Curt's raw delivery and personal lyricism with faithfully innovative, late '90s/early '00s inspired, sample-laden hip hop.

Morning music. Art that facilitates the conquering of the dawn, and the reminiscing of the dusk. Dirty Art Club's newest release Gardens builds upon a rich tradition of evocative loops, with an always welcomed and genuine sentimental bite.

Gardens evokes the sublime- but don't let these lush sonics pull you from the deft drumwork on cuts like Plastic Drip. Candy Sweats brings high-mid instrumentation in with wow and flutter, almost as if flowers presented as a gift to the ears. Chord progression on the aptly named "Technicolor" brings to mind equally the swell of a cool breeze on a sunlit rocky beach, and the jaunty stroll to your favorite record spot in search of unexpected treasures. Morphine/Cigarettes washes your ears with comforting vibrant hues, with string work that pulls you into the warm air in a mission to lift you above vividly chromatic sonic fields.
This release could not be more aptly named, as it thrusts you into expertly manicured environments. 28205 builds upon an instrumental interlude style of beat that speaks equally to an idyllic countryside as it does to our favorite crate diggers. Crispy high end textures drizzled with liquidy synths highlight the shuffle of the snare, almost anthropomorphising itself into a living, walking groove. It encourages you to take a walk with it, wherever you wish to go.

Gregory Keltgen (aka DJ Abilities) gravitated toward the turntables at a young age, becoming a DJ at only 17, before going on to compete in the legendary DMC DJ competitions only 2 years later in 1999. He won the regional title and advanced to the U.S. finals that year, before doing it again in 2001. Soon after, Abilities was also garnering attention for performing all the scratches on indie classic, Fantastic Damage, the debut album by El-P of Run The Jewels’ fame, as well as contributing his turntable talents and production skills to other Hip-Hop cult favorites like The Anti-Album by Semi.Official, and The Taste of Rain... Why Kneel? by Deep Puddle Dynamics. But above all, his name would become most celebrated throughout the 2000’s as one-half of the dynamic Hip-Hop duo Eyedea & Abilities.

DJ Abilities had first met Micheal “Eyedea” Larsen in the mid-90’s, and the two soon began a working relationship that would eventually play a prominent role in the burgeoning Indie-Rap movement of the time. Together, the pair developed a near symbiotic

creative union that produced three albums—First Born; E&A; and By The Throat—a catalog animated by the burning fusion of Eyedea’s introspective and technically adept rhymes with Abilities’ precise scratches and versatile production. Tragically, his partner Eyedea passed away in 2010 leaving Abilities to soldier on by himself, but the influence of their partnership continues to shape DJ Abilities’ music to this day.

His latest project, Phonograph Phoenix, finds the DJ/Producer returning to the forefront and embracing an entirely new approach to making music. A departure from previous work that was primarily sample-based, Phonograph Phoenix finds Abilities opting to build the album’s compositions from the ground up, creating his own sound through Ableton Live and various soft synths, with razor sharp cuts and select vocal chops providing a voice where his fallen partner may have once stood.

Released in 1994 on his own label, the first record of Laurent Daumail aka DJ Cam brings a French response to the hip hop experimentations that are beginning to spread around the world.

At the time, trip-hop was spreading even though nobody really knew what it really covered. And, in this case, here preferred to refer to his work as abstract hip-hop, meaning that he played a lot more with textures and climates than words to bring his message. In that spirit, DJ Cam mixed in his passion for jazz music, inherited from his father.

In his test tube, Cam tries to fit in the length and melancholia of jazz music plated on rough samples and reinforced by various moving beats and scratches.

More than any of his future works, Underground Vibes is characterized by its melodic unity which makes the whole record perfectly homogenous but never monotonous.

After more than 10 millions of music streams and 2 millions of listeners in 2020, French Touch pioneer Dj Cam is back with a collection of unreleased tracks and remixes. Lost & Found Vol 2 is following the big success of the Vol 1 . Digital and special limited colored vinyl are on the way.
