Pseudopolis returns to Redstone Press with Eris Drew for a remix under her Bassbin 23 alias!

Label co-boss Pseudopolis touches down on Redstone Press for the third time. If you’ve heard the last two you know the drill.

Taking no prisoners from the outset, “High For Life” establishes the mood of the EP, combining unrelenting breaks, bouncing basslines and a big-room energy that acts like a pressure release after many nights making music with no clubs in sight, a track that doesn’t loosen its grip throughout.

“Euphoria Inc.” keeps the room at boiling point with Pseudopolis expertly fusing climatic rave energy, broken breakbeats and a murky Reece bassline into an equally euphoric yet foreboding warehouse tool.

“Haze Runner” continues with the ruffneck breaks but raises the bpms and dread level, sounding like something that would soundtrack your teenage weed psychosis or your current 6AMs spent in front of your favourite Jungle sound system’s bassbins. Speaking of bassbins…

We are delighted to welcome Eris Drew to the label under her new guise “Bassbin23”. Years of dancing, rejoicing and playing dusty warehouse raves have informed this rendition of “High for Life”, stripping it back to a fun filled 4x4 rave weapon. We couldn’t think of anyone better to do the first remix on the label, bigups to you Eris!

It’s been a quiet couple of years for Posthuman’s I Love Acid series, but it’s back with the first of three 12”s to see out 2023. ILA027 comes from Australian hardware wizard Dylab. Three tracks of 3am heads-down-in-the-haze chugging acid DJ tools, with a remix from Vault Wax label head Beyun. As always, out on just 303 copies of hand-stamped and numbered heavyweight 180 gram wax, in a stamped card sleeve. No digital. No represses.

Napsugar entered the electro scene with moving to Berlin and founding the own label Beautycase-Records together with Frau-Doktor.

This is a repress of some of his tracks written in the 2000s.

South African production duo of Emil Zoghby and John Galanakis were responsible for a string of high-quality disco singles in the early 80s, typically cover versions of international hits — Klein & MBO’s ‘The Big Apple’, Sly & the Family Stone’s ‘Family Affair’ & David Joseph’s ‘You Can’t Hide (Your Love From Me)’ — backed with their own compositions. When Starlight hit the market with an album in 1983, it featured only one cover, the local hit ‘Picnic’, along with five of the duo’s original compositions, including their similarly styled response, ‘Picnicing’, which replaces the original’s sax with spaced-out synth stabs. Then there’s ‘Jah Jah Love’, an ecstatic disco sermon of dancefloor dynamite weighing in at over eight and a half minutes. Other tracks on this landmark album — ‘Let’s Go Dancing (Boogie Boogie)’, ‘Keep On Moving’ and an eponymous instrumental — offer a similar fusion of classic disco with newer Italo and proto-house influences: machine music with a human touch! Remastered from the original master tapes and reissued for the first time, Starlight will be available on vinyl and digital platforms from early 2023 (40 years after its initial release) via Afrosynth Records.

Peter Gijselaers aka Break 3000, legendary producer in charge of the acclaimed Dirt Crew label. This first ascent brings us “Sacrifice” originally released on Meuse Muzique Records in 2002, powerful electro for peak hours at night.

“Last Emotion” another bomb from peter's baul released between 1998 - 2002, same as “Believe”, special to end a long time sessions, here we will hear the true meaning of a vocoder. “Wide” classic electro bomb with a totally killer bass.

Excedo Records is back with its first 2021 release. “Addiction” comes with a powerful Rich Medina’s spoken, which tells us about how important is to deeply live each moment of life paraphrasing on phones overuse.

The record comes with 3 different mixes + the Accapella, the first version by label’s owners Souldynamic goes deep into their new wave style with an obsessive bass line, pressing percussions and atmospheric pads.

Detroit Legend “Mike Huckaby” goes classic with an infusion of raw deep & jazzy elements on a 4/4 groovy beat.

Chicago Home based dj Boo Willams perfectly closes the record with a dub and atmospheric groove, completing the package with a hot dance floor banger.

Part two of this two-part album sampler kicks off with 'Decoded' layering a dynamic and deep synth melody with echoing arps and blissed out guitar samples. 'Don Esquire' follows up twisting and turning vocal refrains amongst an emotionally charged concoction of synth stabs and cosmic bleeps.

On the flip side, 'Love Me' delves into more techno territory, resonating and reverberating elements round the depths of the mind, to induce a hypnotic state of awe. The final track 'Empty Paradise' evokes distant memories from the past, combining dusty drum samples, hazy piano melodies and those dreamlike vocals that echo off into the ether.

INSTEAD, IT'S AN ALCHEMY OF SONIC PATTERNS AND CONTRASTING COLOURS, NODDING TO MINION'S PUNK, HARDCORE AND EXPERIMENTAL INFLUENCES THAT CULTIVATED ODDBALL ELECTRONIC MUSIC IN THE 80S. THE AFTERGLOW OF THESE SOUNDS CULMINATES IN AN EP THAT RIPPLES WITH INTRIGUING HOOKS, CORROSIVE QUALITIES AND STRANGELY BLISSFUL MELODIES.
