Ukraine's minimal hypnotist Silat Beksi now prepares to make his signature mark on his label Modeight with the aptly titled "On My Own" Ep. This is his first solo contribution to the label, having initially christened its opening with the heady, breakbeat infused stylings of the "Inception" EP. The result of a collaborative effort alongside Heidelberg producer Durrrred. Modeight's discography already boasts a roster of producers who are pushing boundaries in the minimal field, with Romania's RQZ and Dragutesku, Germany's Durrrred and "Methylat" duo Virkut & Amin Ravelle's combined output constituting a powerful sonic statement for Modeight. Silat himself continues to delve deep into his extensive musical influences, showing no signs of slowing his creative output as the talent prepares to release more music on Welsh imprint Curtea Veche and Milan label Hashplant. This EP sees Silat in his element as he laces nuanced rhythms on top of funky bassline riffs and hazy electronic artefacts, cementing himself once again as a unique and characteristically engaging artist.

In a dynamic world where people and pixels are moving and changing at the speed of light, a strangely beautiful thing is happening to some beings. Some call it a brain delay, others “the wrong things at the wrong moment”, but the anxious people are simply calling it a gift. One of their favourite form of communication is art; for some music. The Anxious Delay Group is a species of artists who are sending out messages to others like them, to join a musical movement in their universal language.

Exhibit A1: “Sometimes” a track can be fully understood through the perspective of the creator or the listener; this one acts like the invitation introduction, built up through repetitive kicks and on top of them, a series of digital infused notes and an occasional alarm-kind-of-noise which informs you that the opening has begun.

Exhibit A2: A well-known character, “One Eyed Jack” surfaces up and invites the anxious gathering to dance. It is a very uplifting beat with a powerful bass and with a twist of irregular notes drifting through.

Exhibit B1: “Fast Feeling” opens a new dimensions, one where rules are only set by the sounds. With a more accentuated bassline, this shapeshifter is indeed a fast feeling, one where perscussion are quickly elevated to join the drums loop and the subtle blurry message that awaits to be decripted.

Exhibit B2: “Scene 357” might for some seem like a numerologic symbol, but it is indeed just a getaway that merges down all the tracks into it. A blend between strong kicks and subtly chords and percussions which mellow the soul. An androgyn track which translates into a perspective beyond the boundaries of the musical patterns.

If your new EP has already been getting dropped by top dogs like Upsammy, Batu, Call Super, Ben Ufo and Bruce, you know it's a winner. And that's exactly what Lurka's first release on his brand new Make Your On Meaning label is - four tracks of red hot and brilliantly weird minimal. 'Powers' is razor-sharp hi-hats cutting up a scintillatingly smooth and militant tech house groove. 'Re Speak' has jumbled percussion and more wonky rhythms while 'String' layers up toms, tin pot hits, clattering sound effects and an undulating liquid baseline into something super seductive. The closer 'Mystick Crystal' is the busiest of the lot with its densely layered sound fx and samples underpinned by minimal funk.

HOLD ON CATALINA is the new label of Federico Molinari (co-founder of Oslo Records) and DFUNKLUB. Aligned with the freestyle concept of the label, Federico Molinari kicks off HOC with a release called “Bassline Generation”, which goes from downtempo to house with some electronic and acid elements.

Here we are with our 4th release. This time it comes from the likes of Carebears, Tito Mazzetta, Nate S.U. and Ruven Medici.Biguzzi by italian stallions Carebears is a tribute to 90's house grooves with a characteristic raw sound that makes every single element crispy and solid. A2 it's Soft Breaths from Tito Mazzetta it's a perfect trip into minimal vibes with an hypnotic atmosphere that will keep you contantly floating. Nate S.U. comes with Close To High, a solid combination of deep vibes combined with housy grooves and ethereal synths. Pascal Terstappen a.k.a. Applescal has released his new artist album, ‘Diamond Skies’ on Atomnation. The nine-tracker is a collection of expertly-produced, instrumental melodic house with lush, ambient soundscapes and a nod to the analog sounds of the 90’s. The album has received heavy support from key names in underground electronic music community and is Applescal’s sixth studio album to date.

Terstappen has been running Atomnation full-time since his early twenties and has shaped it into one of The Netherlands’ leading independent labels and a home for an eclectic mix of electronic music including signed artists such as Gidge, Polynation, Tunnelvisions and Sam Goku. ‘Diamond Skies’ exemplifies the vibrant sound of Atomnation, a lush, colourful album which journeys through melody, ambience and emotion while offering an occasional surprise to the senses. The album was written and produced through 2019 and completed in the early days of March 2020 when dark skies were looming.

‘Diamond Skies’ represents a creative optimism and brings a sense of something to look forward to. Applescal has created a musical dreamworld for a listener to step into as an antidote to troubled times. ‘Diamond Skies’ is an album which feels uplifting and effortless, a confluence of melodic house, occasional breakbeat and ambient energy; the sound of a producer at the height of his powers.

It seems as if 15 years have quickly flown by since we first opened our doors at the base of the famous Oberbaumbrücke joining Berlin's Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain districts. With countless long nights into majestic mornings and open airs in our beloved city to showcases spanning the globe, Watergate has grown to include a booking agency and a record label pushing the sounds of our mainstay artists and some of the most revered acts in the scene. Iceland's Thule offshoot label 66 Degrees was a vital label back in the day. After a 20-year hiatus, it came back strong in August and now follows up quickly with a second superb EP. This one is a carefully curated various artists collection that pulls together some local house anthems new and old. Ozy's 'Sequential Dub' is a super smooth deep house number with lush chord work. Sanasol brings heavier, more raw house drums and grinding bass that will get floors in a sweat. Oz Artists mixes up a raw, mechanical groove with balmy, dreamy pads up top to make for something utterly compelling on 'Atomox; while last of all Terry Cummingz pays homage to dusty Windy City house on his perfectly lo-fi 'Cherry Bon Bon. Classy business for sure.

First track On side A produced by Portuguese trio - Pandilla LTD. This project comprised of three individuals, heavily characterised by their deep and minimalistic approach to music. "Corazon" is hypnotic, full of love and hope with the vocals of musician's friend - Anand Kaur.

The second one "Fetre" keeps you on your toes from start to finish. Pretty deep, meditative, minimalistic and trippy by Berlin based Italian producer & founder of labels: Sleep is Commercial, Atoll, Proboscide - Andrea Ferlin.

Side B starts with brokenbeat composition "And then, I dreamt about you" by misterious musician from Japan - Kai Kan. With mixture of stripped down and twisted beats and SE, Noises, voice samples layered over the beats on the top.

And the final track by German trio - Wareika. Rumble in the organic Jungle. With "Heartbeat" Wareika shows its unique quality to combine a journey from break beats, organic pad spheres, drone synthesizer, morphed Pianos to straight beats. Rumble on.

The second Abstract Cuts release is an EP split four ways, but with new, unconventional approaches to the dancefloor at the heart of each submission and all using vintage drum machines and samplers. The Robot Dance Connection's 'Powers Of Ten' (R2d2 live edit) kicks off side one, shiny high frequency polish played off against a gorgeously stubborn techno beat, before the slinkier and smoother 'Gold Saucer' by Brunzi offers an equally danceable but less angular counterpoint. Flip it over and Tomska's 'Lethal Overdose' (Touch dub 2022) offers rushing sonics, off kilter snare damage and four to the floor thump, before Emille's 'Jeu Froid' completes the set in grimy basement style.

Inside also a beautiful remix from the Visionquest man Shaun Reeves.

UK label Dawn State continue their hot streak this summer with further eclectic moods for the dance floor and beyond. On the tools for the fifth outing on the label is KIDWHO, a blossoming talent who through the last years whilst enduring the pandemic found light by burying himself in his studio experiencing new creative flows. The “Warez House” EP varies in tastes, similar to the highs and lows of the times that just passed us by.

Diving into the deep end is the title track, “Warez House”, loopy and hypnotic, swaying between shades of low end leaned house and techno. Off kilter synths and pads maneuver their way around the driving force of the track. “It came together layer by layer, eventually turning into a dense (and at times, unruly!) groove. A final touch
of atmospherics from an old Roland ROMpler and the track was done - bar a generous helping hand in mixdown from Joel Kane (who also turned out a heads-down dub version which might make an appearance!).”

Leaning in a more hazy direction is the blissful cruiser, “Leploop Lagoon”, a deep and emotive vibe crafted especially for the early mornings. A sophisticated deep house energy from the talented producer. “‘Leploop Lagoon’ is the oldest track on the EP, a cleaned-up version of a rough jam I made around four years back. It takes its name from the Leploop, a quirky semi-modular analogue groovebox of sorts, hand-built in Italy. A very unique and unpredictable machine, it’s on bass duties here as well as providing some percussion sounds via the MPC sampler.”

On the flip side lies “Spectral Pattern”, and it packs a certain punch. The rolling arrangement converses in harmony with icy hi-hats that flash in and out teasing the energy, all of the elements having space to breathe and work their magic.“‘Spectral Pattern’ came together quickly one very productive weekend in the studio last year. It developed from the bass sequence, which comes from a Yamaha TG-33, an unassuming 80s digital synth known for its glassy mix of ROM samples and FM tones - very New Age sounding, or 90s computer game soundtracks. But when you strip it back to basics, it punches hard in the low-end.”

Slipping on to the B side is a five minute transcendental trip, offering yet another series of textures to this otherworldly EP. The final track “At Least We Hav Music” is an ethereal soundscape waiting to be explored, wandering amongst ambient realms throughout. “The label was keen to include an ambient track on the release, and I wanted to record something specially for them. At first I had in mind something droning and melancholic, but after a few experiments with cassette
loops and reverb pedals this was the one that stood out. It was recorded during one of the lockdowns, and I guess I needed to create something that sounded more hopeful than brooding. I messaged DS boss Tom Haus with a rough version, and we went on to have a grumble about the gloomy state of things, locked-down in our respective cities and missing friends, family, activities… At some point I wrote ‘at least we have music’ - and almost as soon as I had sent it I knew I had found the track’s title. I’m very lucky to have had my home studio as a refuge through the long months of lockdown, and I’m honoured to have the chance share some of my output from this period on this record.”
KIDWHO fitting the Dawn State ethos to a tee here as they set up shop for what looks to be another fantastic release. “Each of these tracks came about in quite different ways. Like many creative people, I had moments of struggle during the pandemic, where the lack of variety and day-to-day stimulation lead to periods of writer’s block, and so I used those times to focus on smaller, more manageable projects such as making synth patches, recording sounds and and throwing together short loops in my samplers for later use. A number of
these short loops eventually laid the foundations for title track ‘Warez House’. Big thanks to Dawn State, Joel Kane, El Choop and everyone else who has helped make this happen.” -

Well known Serbian artist Marko Nastic delivers smooth 4 track EP for the third release.

It’s finally here. This is the 10th anniversary of the vinyl-only series on Vivus and what a better way to celebrate than with the magic touch of the Romanian wizard, Vlad Arapasu, who has cooked up some very special sounds for you.

We start off with the title track, Inserpia, which kicks things off in a powerful manner. Right from the beginning, a dominant bassline greets you and you know it means business. The subtle percussions added only a few moments later only take this point further: you’re in the middle of the madness, straight from the start.

Next, it’s Daniel Broesecke’s interpretation of Vlad Arapasu’s track. Daniel calms things down a little, with the track taking its time to really get going – that is until the smooth bass line takes over and gets your feet moving instantly.

Finally, it’s time to have a beer in celebration of Vivus's 10th vinyl anniversary. Vlad Arapasu brings us La Cerveza, a song that has a brisk rhythm right from the get-go and adds layer after layer as the seconds roll on. The end result is a joyful affair, the perfect background for a Cerveza on the beach.

With the first Vinyl Release of CUE we cant find someone better than Aney. He is owner of Innocent Music and one of the leading artists in the minimal scene, which he has influenced like not many others.It is therefore not surprising that he gets support from artists like Jamie Jones or Hito.

For CUE, he delivers with the „Time Existence EP“ 2 Dancefloor Bombs which are guarded by 2 Remixes from the Moan Recording Labelheads „Artslaves“ and CUE Labelhead Sven Jaeger.

„Time Existence“ and „I Can Feel“ are tracks somewhere between techhouse and minimal. Driving basslines and techy injections ist he best way of interpretation of both tracks. The „Artslaves Remix“ is an typical rolling Artslaves weapon which will fill your dancfloor immediately. Sven‘s remix is a true drumming monster, that creates its own mood without forgetting the core of the original.

The second release of Resketch is opened by the Ibiza-based talent Ildec, a playful long-lasting track, perfect for the early morning hours.

With the first release of their project "SameSame" on Winder, the two guys now following up to continue, provide a fresh breeze on the dance floor. Mate Koss brings a strong bass line with moving synths and shifted hihats, paired with a groovy breakbeat.

B1 ties in almost seamlessly, CNTRL delivers an incredibly strong groove on a breakbeat basis paired with some oldschooled sounds and rolling 303 elements.

Jan golly closes the wax with a hypnotic firework of deep, sharp and mesmerizing percussive rhythms. Experimental yet straightforward, Jan brings a timelessly fresh cut that captures you instantly, folding you into its insatiable groove.

Carebears are back again with a space journey between microhouse sounds.

Label founder Ramona Yacef teams up with the long-established artists Triptease, Topper and Luminér to offer a deep release narrating a story through a musical journey. Available exclusively on vinyl, the EP opens with ‘Visconte’, where the iconic group Triptease (Visionquest) blends an uninterrupted flow of harmonic atmospheres that brilliantly interweave together. Up next, the duo Luminér (Body Parts) expands the sounds with ‘Write Me A Love Letter’, and drops a range of deep emotional beats. On the flip, Ramona Yacef herself works her magic on ‘Allegretto’ and stamps elegant rhythms with progressive synths which weave in joyful builds. To close the set, Topper (Sleep Is Commercial), the contemporary voodoo child, takes ‘The Truth’ to task, combining minimal elements with experimental and distinctive textures.

After launching Pământ with a lauded outing from local Australian hero Venda, Unic return to their sub-label with a visceral new Ep. The baton passes to Ukrainian legend Yaroslav Lenzyak, who holds nothing back, channelling his devastating signature sound across 3 cuts. His ability to lure the listener into a deeply meditative state is on full display here, as raw and writhe rhythmic elements move briskly beneath bold experimental resonances. Enigmatic Welsh producer Jorg Kuning lands on Facta and K-LONE’s Wisdom Teeth imprint with a four track EP of psychedelic, sunkissed modular house-and-techno. Like so many great artists emanating from the lush Welsh valleys (think Steevio, Leif, Duckett et al) Jorg creates distinctly pastoral dance music that is in equal parts playful, deep, melodic and eccentric. Through a string of low-key sell-outs on his own Bakk Heia label, the producer has already developed a unique signature sound and a burgeoning cult following to boot, with early adopters including Ben UFO, Call Super and Shanti Celeste. The record opens with ‘Chosta-del-sol’ - a noodling polyphony of warm pads, warping plucks and oozing modular noise that stretches and sprawls over a sun-baked house beat. Next up, the two-stepping rhythms of ‘Ex-tensor’ provide a bruk backbone for a constantly-crescendoing symphony of warbling chords, glitching melodies and fluttering pads. On the flip, ‘Rhos Fiddle’ sees the artist hit a more driving, peak-time pace - whilst ‘TB-SB’ sees him at his most skeletal, recalling Skull Disco-era Shackleton.

For a few years a while ago, Robert James was one of the hottest names in house. He ushered in the post-minimal era with colourful, accessible sounds that brought some much needed life and charm back to the scene. After disappearing for a time he returned with his debut album in May and now some of it gets some top remixes. Slapfunk's Anil Aras pumps a nice cosmic house vibe, Kepler does his tight, high tempo work and Thoma Bulwer & Anna Wall combine their skills once more on a clipped, punchy tech house version of 'Planet 90.' Laidlaw lays out some electronic drum funk with a fine version of 'Infinity' to close.

For this California label’s second release, they once again reach across the pond for one of Europe’s cuttiest.

Suburbs hits the ground running with a skittering purcussive cut, a versatile tool that could find its place anywhere from peak time groove to afterhours tripouts. Red Forest opens with understated, yet lush 90’s tech house inspired pads, then rolling into a contemplative forward-driven cruiser. Zenk dirties up his grooveboxes a bit on Uriel, nicely contrasting a lighter side of the EP, with whispy vocal samples and airy melodics. Closing things out, COSMJN channels the drums on Uriel and transforms it into a punchy bleeped out roller.

Label founder Alexander Skancke serves up a more tripped-out fusion between house and techno for the fourth release on the Quirk imprint.

While so many follow the status quo, Mat Zo has always danced to the beat of his own drum. From his days topping both the drum & bass and trance charts simultaneously (releasing on Hospital Records as MRSA), to his current status as a big room innovator, collaborating with Public Enemy's Chuck D and dropping genre-blurring 70-track contributions to BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix, the precocious talent is destined to play by his own rules.

Supported by DJs as diverse as Skrillex, Madeon, Pete Tong, Above & Beyond, Steve Aoki and A-Trak, the LA-living producer's much anticipated debut LP 'Damage Control' is a bold, brilliantly diverse statement of intent from one of the scene's most unique talents. In a world of EDM sound a likes, this is electronic dance music with integrity and ambition. The release of the album will coincide with an extensive upcoming world headline tour, which sees Zo playing renowned dance music hubs such as Ministry of Sound in London, Light in Las Vegas, Create/Avalon in Los Angeles, Miami's LIV nightclub, Toronto's Guvernment and New York City's famed Pacha. The product of nearly three years dedicated work, 'Damage Control' represents a star of the future coming of age. Including his Beatport No.1 smash 'Easy' (feat. Porter Robinson) and recent hook-up with hip-hop legend Chuck D (Public Enemy) on 'Pyramid Scheme', Zo's 14-track LP also features the sun-soaked melodies of his innovative future single 'Lucid Dreams' - another track that perfectly embodies his uniquely quirky take on big room sounds.

What really sets the album apart from the pack are its diversions away from the dancefloor. 'Damage Control' takes in everything from electro-charged French house ('Only For You' feat. Rachel K. Collier), classy trance vibes ('The Sky' feat. Linnea Schossow) and big room progressive, through to wonky, trap-styled beats ('Caller ID' and 'Little Damage'), UK garage updates ('EZ') and hip-hop ('Moderate Stimulation').

Retaining a cohesive thread throughout thanks to Zo's unmistakable sense of fun and infectious grasp of melody, 'Damage Control' is tipped as one of the most forward-thinking debut artist albums of 2013.

Blueprint is a track that finds the Brazilian producers golden ratio, making for a studiously deep percussive meditation. The track detours into unmapped terrain— centered around a whirling melody of soft white noise, while the loop locks you in.

Octave Pad, delivered by Stekke on the flip side, taps into a perkier disposition and a ruder bassline. Its slinky drums are addictive, especially when they're padded by deep rumbles of sub-bass.

NUKEM is an artist and producer with a focus on creating tracks inspired by a wide variety of styles. From Deep House to
Dub, Tech, and Minimal, anything goes! Recently, NUKEM released
a fantastic new EP titled “She Loved Wild.”

The release also features remixes from XXX Culture and M.A.,
which provided a distinctive approach to this EP, perfectly complementing NUKEM’s unique style. The release actually features four tracks, including the title track and its remixed version as well as the B-side, Narcotic Lockdown, featuring its respective remix.

Although there are only four cuts on this EP, the sonic diversity is truly astonishing, highlighting the musical craft and mastery of all artists involved in this exciting and tonally unique project. With 44 releases across 12 years since its inception, Butane's infamous Alphahouse imprint closes its doors this June as he welcomes long time colleagues and friends Alexi Delano and Worldline to shape up the final EP on the label 'Omega'.

Having established the imprint back in 2005, Andrew Rasse aka Butane's Alphahouse has served as an example of unapologetic underground quality and curation for over a decade. With previous releases from the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Ryan Crosson, Ion Ludwig, Quenum, Mark Broom and of course Rasse himself, the final Alphahouse EP welcomes back another staple of the imprints success, Chilean Alexi Delano, and mysterious American talent Worldline who marks his debut on the label.

The A-side sees Delano and Rasse effortlessly re-combine and pick up where they left off in 2013. 'Bass Theory' is an energetic, blooming production that lays the focus on raw crunchy drum licks, chunky bass slabs and an ever- evolving melody that eases listeners into a state of trance, before 'Jazz Lick' reveals a lighter aesthetic with a delicate jazz-infused lead line, filtered vocal loops and crisp organic percussion that hold the production in sync.

On the flip Butane is joined by a new collaborator, Los Angeles-based underground fashion designer Worldline for two brooding cuts. 'How Deep' kicks things off showcasing eerie low ends layered beneath tripped out vocals and hypnotic, meandering chords. 'What We Do' wraps up the esteemed Alphahouse catalog in style. An underground manifesto with a trademark Butane groove and Wordline's vocals punctuating over a decade of work. That's a wrap.

In true Alphahouse style, Rasse signs off here alongside two extremely talented artists with an EP that radiates understated sophistication and intricacy throughout, whilst opening the door to his new project 'Extrasketch' in the most fitting and suitable way imaginable. Stay tuned; this is only just the beginning...

With France's long-fallow club scene back in international resurgence as Paris storms back into fighting form, Europe now has found a new source for yet-unheard music. It was a long time brewing, but names like Concrete, Katapult, Zadig, and Society of Silence, have begun to appear in the international clubbing circuit, and the growth is not limited to the capital. Further south in Lyon, a city quickly gaining its own renown for busy club parties booking bigger names, there exists a smaller circle of energetic operators whose name is also spreading rapidly and whose recent accomplishments include Nuites Sonores, Boilerroom and more. Spearheaded by Kosme, a DJ and producer of quickly increasing notice, the provincial powerhouse has already turned heads throughout France as Kosmo's Caramelo Records was snapped up by legendary Parisian distributor Syncrophone; he has a new label set to launch in 2014. It is with this background in mind that THEMA proudly offers Kosme's international debut, the 'April Moon' EP.

Kosme comes to the table with six tracks of low-slung Detroit-referencing house music laced with extra grit. 'Fondamental' rides shuffling hats and a building acid line to dramatic heights. 'Ever Shake My Mind' is slower and dirtier yet, with crushed hats and a bottom-lurking bass between Theo Parrish-esque drum-machine-down-the-stairs breakdowns. After an interlude, 'Mothafunka' resumes the beatdown with a talkover house track that escalates uncontrollably in intensity as drums shuffle before breaking down in congos & pads. 'Deep Function' dials down to sexier sounds with sultry vocal samples and sampled hiss, but it doesn't lose the drum kink. Finally the digital bonus 'A Thought for Yvonne' is the most subdued and skeletal of all with echoed drums and a lonely bassline tumbling over each other in slow motion.

Following the explosion of new sounds from the capital, it is no surprise to find the movement spreading, and THEMA arrives first with the freshest France has to offer.

For it’s 4th release, Melodeum Records embarked on an epic quest in the search of a treasure which has remained hidden in the musical ether for many suns. After months of digging, a hidden gem emerged, a true diamond in the rough, a life form who only goes by the name of Roluce.
Roluce mastered the binding powers of enthralling House with the drawing influence of Minimal rhythms. Every frequency on the Rogustine EP was individually curated to forge this powerful composition. Side A of this white vinyl consists of one original mix - Sub Constienta - with an uplifting baseline, with industrial background textures complete with mesmerizing synths that make your body vibrate to the groove.

On Side B, Swing Altfel is a track that tells the story differently, taking the listener on a long journey thru the sound. Just like the exquisite painting of painter Leonid Afremov, the track it self has many sounds combining one on top of the other in a progressive release of the right amount of joyful vibe; with passages and percussions mixed with tweaked vocals, giving this track the perfect rithm.

One sure thing about featuring Dan Goul in a MixCult release is that his music will always be big on emotion. Next up, “Upon Descent EP” edifices those delicious sounds that those star floating dancers are pulled to. The classy and sensual beats keep always under construction, making the range of the tracks infinitely expandable over time. The second release on our recently launched label comes from no other than our unique Ricardo Villalobos, under his germanized moniker "Richard Wolfsdorf". Besides being a world touring Dj and headlining the best clubs and festivals around the planet, he has been a reference producer for everyone interested in forward thinking dance music over the last one and a half decades. At MDRNTY we all love his music, Dj sets and personality and he has been a key player at our events for many years, so it is with great honour that we welcome him on our new label. Faithful to his style, he offers us an over 20 minutes length song divided in two sides. Featuring canadian singer Beaver Sheppard, FIVA is a mind bending minimalistic trip. Beaver's mumbling voices add the perfect balance to Ricardo's abstraction and hypnotism. Once more Ricardo shows us how much can be said with only a few elements and how deep it is possible to dive and wonder into his sparse music landscape.
