Welcome to VL limited, part of the VL Recordings family selected by Hector. To kick things off, 12 outstanding tracks from fellow VL members to be released as a special 3x vinyl only edition. With the avid vinyl collector in mind, these tracks have been compiled for their timeless quality to be played out on wax as intended with that peak club set in mind. The white 10inch comes with two massive Tracks from the leaders of the label and an awesome Design by Kiatone.

Next up on Handcrafted, Berlin-based producer Just_Me teams up with label founder Nazt to deliver the Fractal Formations EP. The final result is a deep, yet swinging track accompanied by moody pads that showcases the diversity of the producers.

The Original is followed by Alexkid and Carlos Sanchez's individual reinterpretations.
Although very different, both remixes are finely crafted for the dancefloor, while still maintaining hints of the track's original mood.

Being our long-time favorites, we are happy to have Alexkid and Carlos Sanchez rounding up the concept of this collaborative release.

Matthew Herbert makes his debut on Ben Freeney's Foom label with "The Recording"-an EP written, produced and recorded in one week in Berlin in front of (and with the participation of) a live audience.

Opener "Day Three" is one of Matthew Herbert's most exuberant dancefloor tracks in a while, its rhythms awash with mischief and urgency. "Day Five" is all intricate, shuffling high-end, booming toms, reverb and piano, while the throbs, murmurs and restless percussion of "Day Seven" bring the EP to a close.

Created from start to finish during a week-long residency at the Tischlerei Deutsch Oper, all sounds used were recorded during the course of the residency.'

UK side kicks off with co owners Dawl and Sween dropping futuristic bleeptastic breakbeat banger with lots of bubbles and swirls and atmospheric strings, another cracker from the head honchoes to kick off this ep.

Then comes new comers to the label Skywave Transmissions vs XOTR with an absoloute stormer of a track , amazing bassline that tears through the track from start to finish with a solid beat and drums and great warehouse vocal cleverly scattered around the track, will sound great on the dance floor, this trio have regrouped after 26 years hiatus, they formed in the 1990 northern rave scene in the UK and this track shows there true knowledge and love of the rave scene, which makes them perfect for tone dropout and look out for more from them.

To complete the UK side of this EP we have another new comer to the label, Samuel Padden. Samuel is a self confessed music junkie with 5 years under his belt in experience and is now coming to fruition in his productions, as you will see with his quality breakbeat bleep track quad damage. Intelligent, forward thinking dance music is what samuel is about and is exactly what he delivers, great track to end the UK side of vol 8.

We now turn to Side B the European side and we welcome two of our favourite artists at present.
It kicks off with the one and only Daif , hailing from France this man always delivers with another quality bleep and bass track a great start to side B this track really moves and is of the highest quality that you would expect from this man , very happy to do another release for him and look forward to more.

Finally we welcome back our good friend Ascot/WW , our brother from Italy, with again another absolute cracker of a track , this man has so much good music in his arsenal , this definitely won’t be the last time you hear from him I’m sure , and we look forward to releasing more tracks for him, this track alien vision is a real journey with quality breaks , atmospheric strings and searing pads and stabs , you could say we saved the best for last .

Following up on last year's "A View" LP, Junes returns to Dote to further develop his trademark sound. Taking aim solely at the dance floor, "Blue Moon" provides four refined club shakers.

GENESIS begins its journey with an exclusive vinyl release that consist of 2 original tracks from Nima Gorji & Audiotheque.

Sitting down and writing about our latest EP was a fun but challenging exercise, we scratched our heads and this may sound bad but we couldn't think of deep, dark interesting stories on how we made these tracks or what they represent. These jams are simply a combination of previous and random happy accidents that have come together and saying anything else would be a lie. This however does not mean that the thinking behind them is completely random, the three cuts that we selected for this EP we feel are a journey of experimentation and a culmination of unexpected sounds and feelings. A word that we found best described the EP was 'Irony'. The most ironic thing we feel is that the main basis of these tracks were born on the stage during our live performances and they have now been reworked and moulded into a record. We however feel that this brings an interesting element to the EP that yes it is recorded and set, but you are not quite sure where the next sound or feeling will come from. A hi hat A kick It is pure 'organised randomness'... I suppose we should talk about some of the music and try and explain what we mean! We start with 'Pe dos', which in plain English means inside out and it was a track that we had started back in 2011. We were flicking through our 'curiosity closets' one day and found it, we played around with it and heard a kick drum that was not arranged correctly in the sequence due to a random manipulation of the sequencer. Our first thought was to just change it, but then we decided to wait..... when all the other sounds of the tracks came together we threw the kick back in and BAM, Even the acapella voice of the track was screaming. Therefore it was a simple for us to name this track as we worked on it in a completely back to front and 'Inside Out' way!

Absolut Begginers, is the work already matured of a trip of Djs, producers and a family of friends that give life to a new label, which is the only one in Iberoamerica that brings together the important fragmwentos of the old school of techno and house, as the avant-garde and the novelty of day to day.

The first show has four cool cuts that run and fly between deep techno and minimal house.
So many original tracks of (ØNE + 1) & CAMILO GIL, as in their remixes thought very carefully to educate the public today.

On the one hand, the legendary, owner of an own sound, that raised labels like MOSAIC - CRAYON in the UK, we talk about Mark Ambrose, and a spectacular remix, full of rhythms, enigma, and depth.

On the other hand more current, we have a key piece of the new litter of Frankfurt is a more house side, is the great Sascha Dive, with that game that, or does unicop in mixing elements of Europe and America in their productions, and that in This remix has irresistible elements to the dance.

We can say that a label is born, which will be unique in the world and that the music culture will be the flag of war in each production

Norse Projekt returns with its 7th instalment, this time round Norse welcomes Venda from Australia with 3 original tracks accompanied by a remix from Dubtil.

Butter Side Up Records keeps up its early momentum with another standout EP, this time from Parisian beat maker Sweely. Of course, the 12" once again comes with artwork by Sophie Doulala and expertly explores a mix of heady and spaced out grooves.
William Montana is right at the vanguard of the current French scene. Blurring the lines between minimal, electro and house for the last few years, he has been installed as resident at the cult Parisian club Concrete and has previously impressed with releases on the likes of Lobster Theremin, Negentropy and Automatic Writing. This latest outing marks another tasteful step up.
Opener He's Mine has a slick and squelchy bassline carrying crisp broken beats off into the cosmos. It's a journeying track that really takes you somewhere. Next up, the Girls Are Watching is a rubbery minimal pumper with buoyant kicks and warped, tripped out synths that bring brilliantly off-kilter feelings. The flips side features the hard hitting title track - a driving fusion of electro sound designs, propulsive drum work and a killer baseline that burrows deep. Last of all, Hotel Corsica zones you out with dreamy pad work. Icy and slippery hi hats add to the late night atmosphere while withering chords bring the warmth. Private Navigation is an EP prime for plenty of classy dance floor adventures.

Deep Tech finest - special release.

It has been 13 years since Cobblestone Jazz debuted on the now infamous IIWII imprint, and in March of 2015 things will come full circle with the trio from Canada returning for the 16th release on the label where it all started. 'Northern Lights' features tight gated keys layered with complex harmonies and soaring pad swells. Equally suited for peak time and sunrise, it is an incredibly versatile piece for the crate and clocks in at an ever evolving 11+ minutes 'Drawn From The Side Of Crime' is found on the flip, and is another long and twisting musical journey running just shy of 13 minutes. Its foundation is a meditative bassline that rolls underneath for the duration. Hints of a beautiful modal Rhodes line tease throughout the arrangement, adding a complex depth to the fabric of the piece. These recordings were done in one pass over a three day period in 2013, and edits were culled this past winter. The record as a whole is arguably their most musical and expansive release to date, which all things considered is quite a statement in itself. Cobblestone Jazz are extremely proud to be sharing this release on the imprint from where they began.

The Pathway Traxx journey keeps pressing forward and once again brings a well curated EP of quality underground house. We are particularly excited to welcome back DJ W!LD to the label who once again brings his signature stripped back powerful grooves. Remix support comes in from underground favourite Giuliano Lomonte and label boss Niko Maxen.

Limited to 200 copies, this release is the first of the 5 12" from the Thomas Brinkmann Retrospektiv 5xlp box set. The 5 individual 12" will be released through 2018. Thomas Brinkmann is one of the great producers of Techno music and modern dance music. He initially gained notoriety in the experimental electronic music and Techno community for his full-length 'variations' of material by Wolfgang Voigt under his Mike Ink moniker, and Richie Hawtin. The variations were made by playback of the original artist records on a turntable of Brinkmann's design, which has two tone arms with separate outputs for left and right channels. The turntables were then pitched down from 33rpm to 27rpm and the results recorded and mixed. Both Voigt and Hawtin were sufficiently impressed they released the results on their own labels. Since then Thomas Brinkmann has produced some all-time classic dance tracks, many of which are collected here in what is a personal selection by Thomas Brinkmann himself. There are unreleased tracks, different versions, and tracks that have never been released on vinyl.

Two smooth slices of organ-bass goodness from Pager resident, Tiago Walter, as 2X turns their colours from white to red.

Italy based producer and DJ Alessio Viggiano has been steadily making his mark on the contemporary house scene over the past few years via release on the likes of Yoruba Grooves, Floorpiece Music, Beste Modus sub-label Beste Freunde and Brain On Couch amongst others. Here though we see him delivering his latest extended play for Cinthie's we_r_house. 'Swing Frequency' leads, as the name would suggest embracing a heavily swung feel rhythmically alongside modulating synths and swirling pads. 'Crispy Nuts' follows with robust drums, bumpy bass stabs and an amalgamation of intricately programmed synth shots. 'Slam Dunk' opens the B-Side next with skippy drums, airy chords and resonant bleeps ebbing and flowing within before 'Atomizer' closes the package, laying focus on swinging snares, rides and Rhodes alongside a snaking bass groove to keep things moving.

For the 6th publication of Malonian Andrei Ciubuc (VRAC) from Bucharest and Offenbach based label head Frank Frost (Pressure Traxx) present their interpretation "of the Spatel". Ciubuc already has contributed a remix for Malonian001 and Frost delivers two classic Techno Tracks on the flip side. Malonian is part of the BE9 network.

The next EP to land on VL Recordings comes from none other than the label chief himself, Hector.
Reanimating the label with a solid three-tracker named 'Rogue Traders', this is the producer's first solo dispatch on the imprint since his inaugural 'Jacuzzi Killer' EP in 2016.
'Rogue Traders' unleashes a torrent of brooding club cuts. Kicking off with the title track - a moody, cold-blooded weapon, and finishing on the thrumming bassline that supercharges 'Self Made', we're left feeling hellbent on finding Hector behind the booth.

TXLAX is Dave Aju’s first album in five years, and we couldn’t be more pleased to present it.

As always there is plenty of fresh genre-defying ideas in the music, but this time wrapped in a much more relaxed and focussed aesthetic - a fitting personal soundtrack for the homecom-ing theme of his move back to Los Angeles from Berlin, as the combined airport letters in the title suggest.

There is a sonic stylistic bridge of sorts between the sister cities on display as well, all im-bued with that inimitable combination of raw playfulness and warm refined soul as only Dave Aju does.

From the soaring West Coast future funk opener “Bird’s Eye”, the nautical disco-not-disco of tomorrow in “Out To C” and the bugged-out broken beat flavor of “Silverfish” to the slick me-lodic electro vibes of the title track, and gorgeous shuffling deep house closer “Yulia”, TXLAX is a masterwork filled with beauty, character, and detail that will reward many repeat listens. The new JWB comes courtesy of Pattern Drama (Get Physical, Akbal) his first EP into the label, he teamed up with a talent producer and singer Jonny Cruz for a four-track EP overflowing with personality.

From the deep groove Sin city' with it's warm vocal textures and 90´s allusions is a perfect track for dancing on a rooftop and watching a city descend into the underground.

We the people is propelled by a timeless sense of sound and immaculate production, synths, percusions and much love.

Obsession' incorporating ideas into his highly polished tracks resulting in an aesthetic that is owes as much to New York sound.

Waiting Around' Pattern references classic deep sounds, at the same time never losing his sense of identity and groove that characterise his music.

Albion Records drops its first record of the year and it's to make it's 7 years... and a bit anniversary. Celebrating with a various artists release, it's a 8-track double EP and it does not disappoint.

Moscow based Engineer is back with 4th release. The A1 Is a powerful minimalistic bomb by Engineer founder Wyro and Mobile Soul System, which is followed with a marvelous remix by the Romanian young star, Mihai Pol. On the B side there is a vibrant and rolling dance floor ready weapon by Farid Odilbekov plus a hypnotic groovy tool by the russian talent, Alfij.

Perfect Timing' is the title of Dragosh's new release. The four tracker features three Dragosh originals and a remix from Michael McLardy and Dudley Strangeways. The second release from the Romanian producer this year, it shows his flying form and commitment to continue doing what he loves.

The EP opens with 'Josum'. With a stripped, crunching groove, a clipping synth bass soon joins in. Filled with small noises, 'Josum' invades your headspace and pushes your head down, your body up. A minimal, techy affair, it will not let you rest with its revolving bass and invasive, unsteady beat. The remix reels in the strangeness a bit while maintaining the minimal, never-standing-still feel to the original. Computer bleeps join the tunnelling groove, delivering a remix that it is more dance friendly but remains in the realm of heady weirdness.

Next up is 'Perfect Timing', the title track. Beginning with a cleaner cut beat than 'Josum', 'Perfect Timing' still maintains the feel of the EP with a rattling percussive beat before hitting you with a deep, thunderous bass. With haunting synths far in the background, the track keeps you guessing as to what is coming next. 'Bad Idea' closes out the EP in a decidedly more subdued fashion. Still in keeping with the deep, heady feel of the other track, it does so in a more low-key and laid back fashion. With a retro drum-machine led rhythm and a tractor beam for a bass, 'Bad Idea' is perfect for a darkened, end-of-the-night session.

Detroit label My Baby focusses on letting underground local talent shine, and that is the case with the second EP, a various artists affair featuring label boss Mister Joshooa, plus Remote Viewing Party and Tammy Pickle with a remix from My Baby.
The acts featured on this release are all residents of the famous TV Lounge/TV Bar venue in Detroit. The 12" includes Eddie C along with My Baby boss and TV Bar booker Mister Joshooa-who work together here as Tammy Pickle-plus Rickers, who is one half of ATAXIA, and How to Kill Detroit co-founders Remote Viewing Party, while Rickers and Joshooa also link as My Baby to remix one of the tracks.
First up are Remote Viewing Party with the superb '410'. It's five bumping minutes of silvery tech with whirring machines and gurgling synths all weaving around well programmed and punchy drums. Sure to infect real energy and freakiness into any club set.
Mister Joshooa makes his first appearance with the alluring 'Alright Fine', a slow and absorbing track of gloopy bass, percolating drums and unsettling vocals. Subtle acid lines and prickly hi hats all make this one really jump out of the speakers.
Next up, Mister Joshooa links with Rickers for a standout remix of '410' that is even more physical and driving. The metallic groove is run through with alien sounds, shooting synths and ghoulish voices that are filled with paranoia and will make a great atmosphere in the club.
Joshooa and downtempo disco don Eddie C then collaborate as Tammy Pickle for 'Indifference,' which is a perfectly slow and sensuous number with elastic synths and bass. Crisp hits drive it along and encourage you to sink deep into the groove.
This record is jam packed with talent and original ideas, and one that marks out this label as one to watch.

Reissue (originally released 1981 on SKY records). Cold, concise analogue synthesizer instrumentals – on his secondalbum Serge Blenner remained true to his style, albeit shifting course slightly towards pop territory. The juxtaposition of dark harmonies and pop structures is what makes this album so appealing. In places, it feels like a blueprint for early Depeche Mode.

Acid Pauli is back with another three-track EP on the label he co-manages with friend and collaborator Nico Stojan. This EP, self-effacingly titled 'Had to get rid of some Shit', showcases Martin Gretschmann’s dancefloor prowess yet again. 'Dancing In The Trunk' is a hyped-up loopy banger - minimal in instrumentation but fully psychedelic in execution. 'Goran Utan' has a deeper, darker edge, with a tension that will tighten the grip on many dancefloors. 'Shakmat, but happy' appears in 'Pauli's Psychedelic Breakfast Take 9' and is a slow-building, loop-based groover, eventually opening up to reveal tinges of acid.

Motordiscs is a various artists record serie created by the people behind Garage. The parisian club was shut down during summer 2018 but its spirit continues with Motordiscs: Putting artists together and promoting independant electronic music has always been the credo and is now continuing on records.

KUSI Records proudly presents Livio & Roby on their 7th release. For the first time we skipped the remix on this one because the Romanian DJ Team delivers two dope originals you definitely shouldn't miss.

After a sold-out release on Courtesy of Balance which gained huge support and plays from some key DJs, Nat Wendell returns to his own imprint with another dancefloor heavy, 3track EP. "Reality" kicks of the 3 track EP with some pulsating stabs, mixed with trippy underlays over a swingy stripped back Deep House rhythm. Flip the record and you're presented with a bouncy, yet dubby adventure "Can't Stop". The title track "Renditions" doesn't let up with any of the deep energetic tones set. Here Nat teases out a deeper yet up tempo way to end the release.

On the a side we get a nice set of percussions. Pads and spacey sounds are coming along to finish the arrangement. The great rough sounding chord coming in the second half of the second minute seems to become stronger as the track evolves.

The b side holds a strong dubby ride, fine chords being triggered alongside the track at the right moments. The smooth bass sticks all the elements into the final mix. Near the end some field recordings made in Paris can be heard before the bassline switches and the track ends.

Volupso returns for it's last instalment and it's finale comes from Kaitaro here he delivers 3 original tracks, DOT delivers some deep grooveyness with sharp stabs, crazy fx's and phat beats, Lino chuggs along with some funk and glare, crazy bleeps and fx's with a stomping swingy roll of a beat which encapsulates his sound, ILL BILL completes the selection of the originals which is full of breaky swing, punchy beat, drum rolls and more crazy fx's, played by Raha, completing the EP is a remix from Muninn of Norse Projekt elk who delivers his musical stamp on the track ILL BILL, minimal pleasures for all.

Volupso returns with it's 8th release courtesy of Luminer & Topper. Luminer are part of We Play The Music We Love organization based in Turin and have graced the booth with many a great name. Here they provide their production skills with two original tracks with Topper adding some Schoolbus touches to the remix of Nightware.

After a string of solid releases in recent years, Casey Spillman has decided to launch his very own record label - Temperature.

The imprint kicks off with this 2 track EP featuring the eagerly anticipated track ‘Slow Down’ on the F° Side, meanwhile the C° Side sets a cooler tone with a track entitled ‘Concrete Jungle’.

For the second release we squeeze the lemon with Mamosato, an Italian trio composed by Paolo Macri, Cristian Sarde and Emanuele Montalto, and characterized by a sound born from house and evolves to his different shades.

Elusive Records head honcho Slavaki and label’s mainstay Yapacc join forces for this raunchy tripped out foray into all things dub and minimal. Wax #32 opens with Yapacc’s infections workout - ‘Mighty Mights’. The track juggles the solid stripped-down minimal rhythms soaked in old-school classic feel with Fadila’s vocal provocation that jolts listeners into hovering over a black hole without ever quite going under. Future second-hand 5€ bin EP by swedish born Adam Strömstedt who resides in Sydney, Australia. Very much a pleasure. Adam has been turning heads in Scandinavia and beyond since 2007 from the launch of the Red Balloon summer parties in Stockholm and his strong affiliation with Junk Yard Connections and Banoffee Pies Records, his own Lyssna Records and more recently Stockholm based Bossmusik and Brisbane label Buxton Records.

Default Records has returned with its second release after compiling a roster of artists who are committed to establishing presence in the scene by pushing boundaries and pursuing excellence. Camelia starts us off on the A side with *Transferring*, which presents itself in a light and airy atmosphere. Its playful percussive notes are juxtaposed against its hypnotic groove making for a warm and easy listen. Macarie follows with *Flu*, a vibrant and dance-inducing sludge of gritty, piercing elements that seamlessly blooms into an emotional melody that is driven by its tantalizing rhythm. Label boss Exander shows the heavier side of his creative spectrum on the B side with *Odyssey*. The fullness of this cut accompanied by its intriguing and directive vocal is only enhanced by its delicate features and attention to detail. Closing out the compilation is Lulla's *Distort Time* which reveals all its insides with a symphony of glitchy bleeps and blops all reinforced by a cadence of drums and groove that stirs it into an electric soup.

Road To Rome opens with crunchy sharp drums, a groovy bass line and melodic elements in a beautiful blend of micro-house.
Hide And Seek gives the EP a darker taste with punchy kicks, stripped back drums and trippy melodies, keeping the tension up before the romanian Sublee closes the EP with a superb minimalistic groove, composed by organic percussion arrangements, airy pads and atmospherics texture that guide the production through twelve minutes of deep celestial essence.

Montreal / Paris record label Cosmic Tones is back for its sophomore release. CT002 is a Various Artists EP showcasing the work of six talented producers from the Canadian underground.
URA-DUST – Dream
CT002 opens with this downtempo collaboration by URA from Vancouver and Dust-e-1 from Montreal. Hazy and ethereal, the tune is driven by a broken beat, ecstatic melodies, angelic choir stabs, and lush pads. There are elegant cosmic vibes on this dreamy cut, somewhere between IDM, celestial dub and forward-thinking Balearic.
M Salaciak – Degra’s Vision
The cosmic voyage carries on with this catchy and starry-eyed tune by M Salaciak of Montreal. Here, the interplay between 303 and 808 creates a vibe both heavenly and sensual, full of understated lysergic euphoria and with the compelling syncopation of a bona fide electro beat, reminiscent of Mid West electro’s trippier excursions.
Priori – Glide
With a shuffling 909, a 808 cowbell, miscellaneous percussion, oceanic sounds, deep pads, brilliant use of space and gliding melodies, this cut by Montreal-based artist Priori is a nod to the golden age of IDM and those compilations on Warp. But there’s a twist that comes through the track’s warmth and its broken beat: this isn’t techno, nor is it purely electro, but something wonderfully unique.
Bunzinelli – Hyperloop
A bouncy beat sets things in motion on this mid-tempo tune from London-born and Montreal-based artist Bunzinelli. Analog synths, airy pads, hard-hitting drums and what can only be described as a space didgeridoo coalesce gloriously. It’s an ecstatic tune with both aural fractals for your mind and your feet.
Dust-e-1 – Live By The Leaf
Behind this name is a Montreal fixture behind the Little Tape project (a mix series, a web radio show and occasional events). With a focus on generous breakbeats and innocent melodies, there is an undeniable sun-drenched atmosphere, perhaps of a Balearic persuasion, on this tune. In any case, it’s the sort of track that instantly puts a smile on any dancefloor.
R Weng – Sound Of The Breeze
Closing the EP is this plodding downtempo tune that sounds like a lost bedroom recording from the UK’s ambient house era, where a synthetic rhythm section and precious melodies are blended with dreamy guitar licks. The result is a soothing tune that gently caresses its listener like a summer’s breeze.

Ander B's music is increasingly abstract, profound and packed with rhythmic trances.

The sounds he creates are based on classic house, which he melds with thick layers of Detroit and Chicago House. 'The Black Sun' is his second 12" for Czech label Beef Records, following the Delano Smith + Petre Inspirescu supported 'Outta Space' EP in 2016.

Finally, Sound Of Vast's first release in 2016. Good news for many people as it the initial release of "Higher" sold way too fast. There's been some a huge deman for us to bring it back - so we decided to repress it again, this time with a twist... Soichi Terada Remix! With this re-issued version of EP, we show the identity of the "Unknown Artist", as someone already guessed he is the The People In Fog aka DJ Sodeyama, who released "Deep EP" in 2014 on Sound Of Vast. By The People In Fog project - he shows his 90s old school house side which he raised with. As this release containing not only the original version of 'Higher', but also includes melodic and dreamy remix made by the Japanese house renaissance "Soichi Terada", and "Dub Mix" from The People In Fog with a bit modern groove, this EP can be satisfied any kind of mood on the dance floor. The powerful of vocal from an killer 90s tune, and well-crafted beat production from each legendary house artists, this EP definitely has the energy to bring people in the higher lever of dance.

David Mayer returns to Ouie following his well received The Call EP from 2018 and The Circle recently released on the new sublabel Ouïe Circle.
Though being born in south Germany, Mayer grew up between Norway and Lanzarote, perhaps a clue to his expansive and border-less sound.
Here he brings three new tracks to the label from Acid Pauli and Nico Stojan. Title track Skanda is a psychedelic trip through firing percussive elements, wonky synths, distorted vocals and an unstoppable groove.
Snake Dance has a similarly unhinged feel, building around a one note bassline and crisp, rolling drums before heading to the stratosphere with sparkling arpeggios.
On the B-side, there’s the vinyl exclusive Ouroboros Track - an 8 minute odyssey into Mayer’s interest in hypnotic percussion and psychedelic track structures.

The Modeight label catalog contains the works of such artists as Silat Beksi, RQZ, Durrred, Dragutesku, Olivian Nour, University Of Nowhere, Svet. These records are not collecting dust on the shelves of private collectors - instead, they are actively played by DJs. With support from the leading Romanian artists, the label's tracks were broken in on the dancefloors of the Sunwaves festival. The fifth release of the label is brought to you by Amin Ravelle and Virkut, who joined forces under the name Methylat. These highly effective groovy and minimalistic tracks are available only on vinyl.

unique trax 003 is in charge of an artist who does not need introduction, the Russian tripmastaz gives us two strong pieces for the dance floor plus a remix with housy sensations by ariel rodz.

With credits on the likes of Bass Culture, Cocoon, Cadenza, Cocoon and Yoyaku in his locker, Russian DJ/producer Tripmastaz is about to enter the next phase in his much-respected career thanks to a recent move to Berlin. Currently working in the studio with Ricardo Villalobos, he has also released a string of collaborations alongside DJ Sneak on the likes of Kwench, Rawthentic and Hot Trax. Now, he’s taken the collab process one step further, siding up here with Alexkid, Cesar Merveille and Howl Ensemble for the debut release on his appropriately named call_lab label. Featuring handmade artwork by St.Petersburg based graphic artist mojo_monsta, it’s another example of the Plant 74 label owner’s consistent penchant for high class house and techno.



Up first is Tripmastaz’s collab with Alexkid, ‘Catch 33’. Alexkid is another producer who’s enjoyed a great run of form, and on this one both musicians triumph courtesy of an original cut that’s notable for its weighty, dubby vibes and repetitive flair. A groaning, atmosphere-heavy cut, it gets us underway with some distinction.



Up next is ‘Worship’, which this time around sees Tripmastaz team up with sometime Cadenza man, Cesare Merveille. A track that’s definitely been made with early morning sessions in mind, this one calls on the spirit of Detroit in no uncertain fashion. Banging but with a soft, deep and meandering current at its core, it’s a fantastic example of how to bridge contrasting sounds.



The last of the tracks on show is ‘Mayday’, which this time around sees Tripmastaz showcase his more gritty side alongside Howl Ensemble. A trippy, whimsical cut that’s every bit as colourful as the day its named after, it closes the release with a dexterous skill that’s abundant throughout. With releases forthcoming on Bass Culture, Berg Audio, Cuttin Headz and Ovum, 2019 looks set to be a pivotal year for Tripmastaz.
