Reptile Mob is a newly launched, vinyl-only sub-label of the well-regarded GLBDOM imprint. It kicks off with a five-track various artists release that pays homage to the garage sound. 'Don't Know It' by Highrise opens up with a distantly 90s vibe, then Sky Joose shows his class on 'On The Shores' with its hard-edged bassline and full-throttle drums. Johnny U-Tah works some re-pitched and time-stretched vocals to perfection on 'Voices In My Head', with further gems from The Thunderkats whose 'Melatron' is a piano-laced bumper and last of all Jay Ward's 'Everything That I Need' brims with vocal lushness. As one of the people behind the taste making Subwax distribution & label, Baldo's pedigree within the European electronic music community cannot be under stated. Here he pulls together seemingly disparate threads of house & techno from both the past and present to create a well rounded and diverse EP on E-Beamz, from the reminiscent 90's garage house sounds of 'Ethereal Tubes' to the acid tech of 'Drive' and the unashamedly hands in the air stomper 'Ex Machina' (Power House Mix).

The Plastik People label has been going along nicely for its first few releases, with label head Marc Cotterell stepping up and coming correct last time out. Now he calls upon various artists with Dave Charlesworth taking care of the a-side of Nice Ripe Cuts. He offers two super slick garage cuts that cannot fail to make their mark on the club and it's no different on the flipside except D Lux & Y No combine first for '25 Miles' and then S R offers the irresistible 'Pressure.' An essential 12" for anyone looking to bring some fresh garage flavours.

Will Hofbauer & Sangre Voss team up for ‘Steppe EP’ this June on Control Freak Recordings, featuring a remix from Discwoman’s Ciel.

London-based Will Hofbauer and Sangre Voss, who’s individual work has seen them appear on labels such as Rhythm Section and Will’s own Third Place imprint, team up for the first time on Control Freak Recordings for the wonky ‘Steppe EP’, picking up early support from Ben UFO, Bradley Zero, and more.

Leading the release, ‘Pumice’ tumbles through rolling low end, crunchy percussion and an eerie breakdown for a high energy start to the A-side. ‘Flundra (Flundra Mix)’ follows with bubbling pads and speaker-rattling subs around a kick-less drop, leading into a shimmering breakdown.

On the flip, ‘June-O’ sees the duo craft a low tempo slugger, peppered with tablas, bells and eagle samples around warped, loopy synthesis. Ciel’s remix of ‘June-O’ takes the B2 spot, adding stuttering percussion, vocal chops, and additional wildlife samples to the mixture to round out the release.

Brooklyn NYC - 1990. Former Berklee college of music student Ed "The Red" Goltsman has already been locked away in the studio for the previous 5 years producing and playing on numerous underground Soul and Hip Hop records. His deep love of music and his involvement with these projects eventually led to him setting up his own venture. Inspired by encounters with NYC's dance music underground these sounds and experiences helped shaped his idea and sound into what would become one of the most popular, cult dance music labels that emerged from the city during those fertile years - Bottom Line Records.
During the label's life Ed The Red produced, mixed and played on almost all of the releases that came out on Bottom Line, alongside Nelson "Paradise" Roman and other artists such as Lenny Fontana, The Burrell Brothers and more, Ed crafted a deep, soulful, jazz infected Garage sound that resonated across dance-floors in NYC and New Jersey with the releases getting regular plays at the legendary clubs of the day by the biggest jocks.
Bottom Line were on a roll, achieving hit records and charting high while retaining underground credibility on the streets and in the clubs. A true independent label whose releases are undoubtedly a huge influence on hosts of contemporary producers and DJ's today, still sounding incredible in 2016 (and beyond!).
Across 3 discs, and with the assistance of Ed "The Red" we have a deep selection from the Bottom Line archives, carefully selected to represent the many numerous faces and sounds of the label. From the ethnic leaning deepness of Flow's "Another time", a big hit in both the UK's Balearic and House scenes to the robotic chug of O.D.C's "My mind is going", now quite a rare record to find due to it's scarcity, the selection celebrates the forgotten gems, club hits and rarities that this powerhouse of a label released. Each track on this compilation has been carefully remastered from Ed's personal DAT collection and sequenced for maximum club play. This is a 100% legit, licensed compilation, produced with the involvement and kind permission of Ed "The Red" Goltsman and the Bottom Line Records family.

Hackney native Eliza Rose has learned everything she knows from her local soundscape. Growing up on the 2-step and 4x4 rhythms of UK Garage (citing the sounds of Lovestation’s Teardrops and B-15’s Girls Like Us as her first true garage experience) and spending her spare time listening to artists such as Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and other jazz and soul associated artists has provided the platform for one of London’s leading lights to truly shine - whether it be through house, garage, mo-town, soul or funk - seamlessly blending eras and sounds together through retro-modern vocals and productions on her own Rosebud Recordings.

There couldn’t be a more fitting artist to celebrate Lobster Theremin’s milestone 100th release with, having been a part of the Lobster family for some time now through a long-standing friendship and record shop & label responsibilities, and alongside emerging label affiliate M4A4 the pair deliver 4 killer cuts of 2-step, house-garage and jungle fitting of the moment.

“With Shades of Red I wanted to combine my love of Jazz style vocals alongside my love for UK garage in a way that still felt authentic for both sounds”, she says. “I'm very interested in revamping and presenting the ‘old skool’ for a new audience while hoping that the people who do have respect for these more retro sounds will also appreciate the tracks. For example the lyrics ‘such an uneasy evil' ect in Nyt lyf is a nod to the track of the same name which is one of my favourite Jazz standards.”

‘All Night Long’ is a bass-driven bouncer; romantic lyricism, skippy beats and punchy production makes for an easy-listening groove that could just as easily go off in the club, while ‘Delectable’ sees Eliza marry lounge-jazz vocalisation with M4A4’s joyous blend of UK and US garage - inspired, uplifting and joyous.

‘Temptation’ is a celebration of the Hackney melting pot; meandering through blues, soul, jazz, house and garage in a contemporary blend of old and new, before a late-night rush in the rave is inspired by the 160 breakbeats and lairy basslines of ‘Troublemaker’s jungle riddim.

The house they make comes with lovely retro-future feels and hints of 80s and early 90 magic. Jeff The Fool kicks off with timeless deep house and seductive French spoken words. This latest super-cheeky 12" is a one-sided cut with proper throwback bass, farting sound effects reversed stabs and those bleeping siren-like synths that defined the first wave of UKG. Chuck in an atmospheric breakdown and a drop that will blow the roof off and you have another instant Instinct classic.

B2 closing up this VA is Borren. The Dutch producer has many talents and he proves it with this UKG/Speed garage cut."

Bang on trend grooves from the Vivid camp, exploring the current fascination for all things that intersect both the garage and breaks genres. Lead track 'Wicked & Wild' is the one that leans furthest into UKG territory, its bumpy bassline and MC-style vocal giving it heaps of energy and attitude. Flip side instrumentals 'Push Past It' and 'Ronin' meanwhile, evoke the early 2000s spirit of breaksteppers such as Horsepower Productions, the latter especially maintaining the bassline pressure and adding it to the more hardcore vibe of rawer, sampled percussion. Maximum respect!

C.M. Toni originally released music on Partners Inc Records for a short spell between 1991 and 1993. The label was inspired by the deep jazzy, soulful US house labels like Nervous, Strictly Rhythm and the NY house scene in general. These previously unreleased tracks were found recently on a tape recorded in 1993. The raw classic sound of 12 bit samplers, drum machines and early synths are all over these lost cuts recorded in the Dollis Hill attic, authentic house music from 1993.

Four tracks of juicy, cheeky breakbeat action with an underlying hint of skippy two-step synchopation going on, overlaid with elements from the more musical end of house and the most dancefloor-slanted side of P-funk. 'Giftig', with its Bollywood string flourishes, is the most exotic beast among the pack, while 'Cllosing Time' boasts searing 80s disco stabs and some neat tickling of the Hammond very much in jazz funk style. That said, it's all action across all four tunes, so get stuck in.

Well this one is fun. And fun, just about, in a good way, rather than stupid silly un-cool and uncouth fun. Kolter's Breakarama EP kicks off with the title track which makes use of the melodic motif from TV's much loved animation Futurama. It is sure to get some super reactions in the club with its playfulness and charm. 'Ghost In The Breaks' is more serious, with a slick and futuristic feeling breaks vibe then 'Get Out James!' is another laugh that makes use of the iconic riff from James Bond over some sleazy and dark UKG. 'Horny Breakdancers' is an airy, uplifting one to close.

It's time to grow up (a bit) for the vehicle fam and step into a new territory with this collaborative artist EP by Salomo and Reece Walker (fka DJ Carmel) who both wrote one single dance track and two were produced side by side in Leipzig.

Uit de Hoogte goes raw on new release “Λέων” with 15 analog jams made between July 23 and August 22, summer 2022. All tracks are written, recorded and mixed off the cuff, straight to 1/2 inch reel-to-reel tape which gives the tracks a deep and warm vibe. Some additional editing and mastering duties were done in the box. The Belgian producer doesn’t hesitate to explore new grounds with tracks ranging from house to garage and acid till techno. When he's not dishing out breaks-y garage and slick retro-future electro, Burnski still finds time to exercise his decades deep prowess in the art of tech house. On this new drop for Constant Sound he's clearly having a lot of fun sculpting a hefty, big room sound with Ibiza in its sights. 'Trigger' hinges around an epic breakdown-build up which goes off like a rocket when it drops, swinging with glee and leaning in on playful synth licks. 'Go' is an absolute monster too, which nods to Burnski's recent UKG explorations with some rough bass and a killer 4x4 groove. If you want to do some damage in the dance in the classiest of ways, look no further.

Constant Sound sublabel Instinct comes correct with some ruff n' tuff steppers from 0113, a shadowy alias that channels pure speed garage energy into a record of pure firepower. There's no messing with lead track "Inside", all nasty bass and frantic swing with more rudeboy swagger than a souped up Vauxhall Nova. "Steppa" darts around a crooked 2-step flex to die for, embellished with eerie atmospherics to darken up the dance. "Rouge Fader" brings some heavyweight 4x4 bump n' flex, and "Break" keeps the pressure up to make this a four-deep dancehall wrecker of the highest caliber.

Davide Piras is an Italian producer with a penchant for the tougher, rougher side of British bass music. Creating music under the moniker DJ Chupacabra, Piras has been picked up by labels like Haws and Dr Banana in the past year, and now makes his debut for Time Is Now with more deep raw cuts.

The EP hits hard with deep tech, breaks and rumbling bass. "Grimer" kicks off with sparse, staccato beats for heads down business before the expansive two step of "Rockstar". With its eclectic use of samples and ominous swelling bassline, it's a solid club roller.

Funky, earworming house is the game of B-side opener "Killalot" which hints just a little of an acidic edge. "Morbid" is a heady stepper with plenty of ear teasing melody and atmosphere. The EP closes with a crescendo in "Croissant", which has a chunky minimal deep tech beat and booming bassline which is destined to send the dancefloor wild.

This slamming piece of early 90's NJ Garage House still works today! The very first release on the iconic Madhouse Records imprint, produced by the mighty, legendary Kerri Chandler and featuring the raw vocals of James 'Dreamer G' Gordon this classic 12" bears all the hallmarks of that unique KC sound, it's all here - The drums (the drums!), the percussion licks, the deep(est) pads and that trademark swing (on everything!). The perfect balance of the rough and the smooth, booming out of the speaker stack like the track was made only yesterday. Freerange Records present the second jazz-flecked EP taken from Crackazat's recently released 'Evergreen' album, featuring a stunning rework from irrepressible Berlin-based producer, Cody Currie.

Following the arrival of the recent Beacon Of Light EP, the word is well and truly out about Ben 'Crackazat' Jacob's breathtaking metamorphosis from dubbed- out dancefloor igniter to fully-fledged singer/songwriting talent. Incorporating a new level of compositional mastery while maintaining his well-earned club credentials, Jacobs continues breaking new stylistic ground with the 'Everybody Talks About It' EP.

Curating an organically-inspired match between two of UK house music's most outstanding and musically refined artists in recent years, Freerange invite Cody Currie to commence proceedings with his typically deft interpretation of 'Everybody Talks'. The London-born producer has made an enormous impact on the dance underground since emerging in around 2016, releasing a flurry of jazz- inspired titles on benchmark labels including Toy Tonics, Razor N Tape, and Classic. Making his Freerange debut, he elegantly reframes the track while retaining the essence of the original. Gently nudging the drums to add a touch of floor-focused gravity, he carefully spaces out the instrumentation and effect- laden vocal, allowing driving chords to power the US garage-inspired groove deep into sun-kissed dancefloors.

Next to appear is Crackazat's original version of the title track, a song that perfectly encapsulates the intelligent pop-centric focus of the forthcoming album. 'Everybody Talks About It' explodes with emotion, with its searing vocal rising over shimmering pads and bass before building to a horn-filled crescendo. The composition sees Crackazat at his song-writing zenith, adding an irresistible crossover sheen to the propulsive club groove.

On the flip, we find Crackazat's 'Mana's Dub' of 'I'm Easy', stripping back the vocal and adding bite to the drums as looped instrumentation and celestial synths build to a club-ready fervour. As with the previous single, the inclusion of this well-crafted instrumental transports the track into dubbed-out realms and is sure to hit home with admirers of the vintage Crackazat sound. Finally, the deep disco of the original version of 'I'm Easy' sees blissful chords glide over weighted bass as the vocal powers across the panorama, bursting with Quincy Jones-inspired horns above delicately woven keys and raw house drums.

This neatly varied package once again demonstrates Crackazat's meteoric artistic development while tipping the cap to his dance-focused roots.

Since 2014 Stones Taro has been delivering his own take on the UK sound, heavily influenced by rave, jungle, garage and breakbeat. Now the Kyoto, Japan based artist makes his Cheeky Music Group debut with four intricately laced cuts on August 20th, continuing to break the mould and recontextualize his own sonic palette.

‘Again’ opens proceedings with deep wobbling bass that finds its way from your ears and down to your toes, coupled with dub style chords and vibey vocal loops, to help keep the steppers moving to the early hours. ‘Come Over Me’ picks up where ‘Again’ left off with glossy lipped vocals and oscillating snare drums, resulting in a track perfect for warming up the dance floor.

Glistening synths sparkle just above choppy breaks and spacious bass in ‘Yakusugi’ - as it’s ethereal sensibility adds a different dynamic altogether to Stones Taro’s ever evolving sonic armour. Every sound in closing track ‘Rare’ is carefully placed and nuanced; as one tone reflects off the next in auditory delight - suited for those late-night dwellers.

Reissue from Blahh !! as demand grows for this 4 track garage house flavoured ep. Swing in overdrive, from the deeper shuffle of "Closer" to the heavy bump of "I Don't Want U". "Freak Me Out" is a wonderfully frantic workout with all manner of samples and skittish key flex pinging around an uptempo groove, before "Talkin' About" pushes the swing even harder to conjure up a jazzy feeling smattered with sax licks and squelching synth stabs.

Instinct has been one of the key protagonists in garage's ongoing renaissance. Not only have his tunes given a fresh take on the much loved old sound, but there have been plenty of them, too. Now he's back with yet another full length, and once again it's packed with heat. There are deep shufflers that nod to the original US garage sound, as well as darker, 2-step tinged get downs. More so than before, there seem to be plenty of reversed bass stabs and MC vocals, old school signifiers and jungle breaks that pay homage to the roots of the sound while never simply copying it. The heart aching vocal of 'Don't Know' is our fave and a likely candidate for one of this summer's standout tunes.

'What Are We Going To Do?' kicks off proceedings, with a rhythm that owes a bit to the skippy US garage energy pf Todd Edwards or Roy Davis Jr, stripped back but with a slinky bassline and mysterious mutterings voices adding additional atmosphere. 'Free' operates under similarly slanted syncopation template but counters it with echoing dub effects. 'Want It' and 'Colour' populate sides three and four, a little more low key but still steady, solid club tracks that should warm up your public nicely. Constant entertainment.

TVB (Tomek Leśniewski) - a producer from Wrocław, fascinated by broadly defined urban music. For many years he has been associated with the local club scene (Clinique, Droga Do Mekki, Kamfora). In the years 2006-2013 he co-hosted the Broken Beats show on Radio Luz with Wuja (My Head is Dubby). Since 2010, he has been regularly organizing party cruises on Wroclaw ships - Boat Trip, and Holy Ship! On a daily basis, he is engaged in sound production for radio and television.In May 2019, he released his debut album "Mesa Shots". He has already been active in such labels as Urban Dubz Rec. (UK), Sequel One Records (PL), Dynasty Shit Rec. (USA), XLNT Rec. (PL), G-stepz Records (PL) and Polish Juke (PL) ). In September 2020, he made his debut on U Know Me Records (PL) with the single "Czekam Przed Wejściem".

Leeds twosome Soul Mass Transit System have been one of the success stories of the last 18 months, with their bass-heavy blends of UK dance music styles old and new gracing such labels as Timeisnow, Warehouse Rave and Dr Banana. Their latest EP, the pair's second outing on Instinct, is another strong offering. They begin with the seductive, sub-powered two-step revivalism of '1 ofa Kind', before reaching for darker sonic textures, serious wobble bass and echoing ragga snippets on 'Extremely Dangerous'. 'Never Turn My Back' is a pleasingly bouncy chunk of bassline-influenced two-step heat, while 'Turn The Lights Down' ratchets up the low-end pressure while showcasing chiming melodies and ultra-dreamy pads. High-grade garage business that should be an essential for anyone who loves two-step.

UK-producer Retrospect makes a leap from the Punchline series and lands a one-punch knockout with this one-off record.

The debut EP on Council Work from label owners Frankel & Harper. The Trimmers EP contains 2 originals, the first in the form of "LHR.AMS", a heavyweight slice of UKG with strong influences taken from the European house scene and also their drum n bass background. "Trimmers" is a raw dub and jungle infused cut with a sub layer guaranteed to shake speakers stacks. INSTINCT joins for a remix and switches things up by adding a catchy vocal which definitely passes the old grey whistle test.

Providing the five-track Somethin’ For Tha Underground EP, two leading vocalists feature on the release in the form of esteemed reggae talent General Levy and American singer-songwriter Hadiya George.

Somethin’ For Tha Underground feat. General Levy begins proceedings. A tribal, old-skool leaning number, General Levy’s vocals add that signature jungle feel, as Mason’s four-four style marches on in the foreground. Ring Of Fire feat. Hadiya George comes next, manifesting as a soothing sunset cut packed full of emotive chords and warming strings throughout. The dub version soon arrives before Motherland ramps up the tempo courtesy of a rolling bassline and rampant kick-hat combos. Finally, Disco Punk brings things to a funk-driven close thanks to an instantly recognisable vocal sample.

Manchester DJ and producer Mason Maynard has built himself an exceptional reputation since first bursting onto the scene in 2017. Releases on Hot Creations, Relief and Sola have cemented his standing as one of the scene’s brightest young prospects, whilst performances at clubbing and festival institutions such as Privilege (Ibiza), Parklife (Manchester), Hideout (Croatia) and Space (Miami) have brought his sound to global audiences. In recent times, his Lookin’ At Me release saw him work alongside USA heavyweight leaders Insomniac, setting the tone for a new musical direction, with tastes of rhythmic Detroit style electro further establishing his ever-growing musical palette.

Hidden Spheres is the alter ego of Manchester’s Tom Harris, who first made his mark on the underground circuit with his release 'The Bloos' on Moods & Grooves, before following it up with the much in demand ‘Waiting’ on Lobster Theremin offshoot Distant Hawaii.
Here, Tom joins the Scissor & Thread family, the Brooklyn label founded by Francis Harris, and home to music that traverses a number of boundaries. Hidden Spheres fits right in - the five track 1985 EP blends house, broken beat, ambient, jazz and other elements into a heady brew.
'King Tut' starts proceedings, a laid back jazzy groove, rich in textures and soulful flourishes.
'My Names' touches on the UK broken beat legacy of 4 Hero and Bugz in the Attic - an off kilter groove layered with sweet jazz and house inflected licks. ‘Karl' is a much more direct dancefloor track, albeit with the deepness that we expect from Hidden Spheres.The penultimate track '1985' steps into the unconventional house vibes of Detroit's third wave. 'Soon We’ll' finishes up the EP - a supremely jazzy piece built around the sax, piano and washes of strings and ambient elements - a superb closer for a deep and heartfelt release.

The 18th offering from Instinct features four different acts, each with their own take on moving the dancefloor. Pinder P has a funky house/UK garage flavour to it but laced with wonderfully deep bass heavy and shaky enough to dislodge fillings. Papa Nugs' 'Super Beagle' delves even further into the raw aesthetics of early hardcore and especially the reggae-tinted futurism of Shut Up & Dance, Ragga Twins and Hype. DJ Crisps has arguably the least retro sound, relying on very steady and sturdy, more US garage-slanted beat foundations, before the EP is rounded off with the bubbling, skippy 'Only You' from Yosh, re-connected with a subtle reggae flavour to its UKG swagger.

Danny weaves a tapestry of sound, vibes and emotion across four pieces of unique, left-field electronica. We love it.

Around a year ago, Jerome Derradji received a message from a well known record dealer out of North Carolina. He found a couple of test presses at a storage auction near Durham. In fact the two tests Daniel found were for a Lee Moore release scheduled for release on NYC’s LM Records in 1981.

The 12” featured a vocal and instrumental version of the same song - Bodywork - a mean boogie down joint featuring Lee Moore’s trademark heavy bass, gritty soulful vocals and mad synths …
So here it is pressed for the first time, a lost 12” from the mighty king of Memphis Boogie Funk: Lee Moore!

Nightcrawlers is a Scottish house music project, assembled by producer, DJ and vocalist John Reid. In 1992, John Reid formed the act following his local success as a DJ and vocalist. It was 1995 when he released his debut album, which was titled after its lead single. Two singles of the album reached the UK Top 10: “Push The Feeling On” and “Surrender Your Love”, plus three singles that reached the UK Top 40: “Don’t Let The Feeling Go”, “Should I Ever (Fall In Love)” and the lead single “Let’s Push It”. The latter became an overnight success, peaking at No. 7 on the US Hot Dance Club Play charts and briefly crossing over to pop radio, peaking at No. 80 on the Billboard Hot 100. “Push The Night Again” gained new spotlight recently, when Nightcrawlers together with Riton scored a worldwide#1 hit with “Friday”, which is a remix of the track.

“Push The Feeling On” was then remixed by Marc Kinchen, an American record producer. He stripped down the song to edited vocal samples, creating an unusual sounding track “The Dub of Doom Mix”. Reid released an album containing all six singles he had previously released, using the single “Let’s Push It” as the album’s title. Marc Kinchen once again worked closely with Reid, repeatedly remixing tracks to his trademark sound.

Soul Mass Transit System returns to Time Is Now with the weighty ‘Blocked’ EP featuring a collaboration with legendary vocalist Killa P.

Mysterious producer Soul Mass Transit System has been pumping out some serious twelves this year, with killer cuts on labels such as Warehouse Rave, Time Is Now & Rhythm & Vibe. His latest outing ‘Blocked’ EP is the rising producers weightiest work to date, lead track ‘Blocked’ featuring legendary ex Roll Deep member Killa P does some serious damage, backed with three rolling UKG cuts of groovers and movers, best played loud.

Foul Play is definitely a suitable title for this EP as Kessler has brought the big guns to the tea party for this one. Really getting to the heart of what Holding Hands is all about I love how straight up in the face these bangers are.

Expect a lot of gun fingers and shouts of “this one’s a stinky wiiiiiiinky” when these get dropped in the club. That’s probably the best way of describing the vibe here...

Italian master, London based Stefano Ritteri takes centre stage for the latest edition of Shir Khan presents Black Jukebox — number 32 in this illustrious series. This one is a chiefly electro-flavoured affair, joining the dots between the genre’s past, present and future across four slick tracks — with a dash of garage at the end.
‘Slow Tripping’ is a homage to the charismatic boogie sound of the early ‘80s, resplendent with beautiful melancholic melody and a wistful air. As the name suggests, the lazy beat perfectly compliments the array of dreamy sounds, and there’s a definite nod to French disco/electro/hip-hop fusions of days gone by.

‘Donna’ is a collab with Mytron (Bordello A Parigi, Multi Culti)which continues the chuggy theme, its gently swaying synth arpeggios and unhurried beat recalling some of Soulwax’s more pared back material. Its simple arrangement is kept engrossing with synth automation and subtle atmospheric touches.

‘Brutesque’ strips things back to an almost minimalist approach, where twanging, monotone sounds slowly morph over a taut backbeat and a variety of bleeps and blips. With its spoken word sounds and Krautrock-ish mixture of sounds, it recalls the work of Public Service Broadcasting.

‘Robot Love’ takes its cues from the sweeter side of 2-step garage, bubbled down to a more laconic pace. Cute melodic refrains and big reverbs adorn the stuttering rhythm to make for a colourful, atmospheric, reflective track.

Welsh producer Harrison BDP is back on Phonica’s main label with the excellent ‘Easy Tiger EP’. It’s yet another impressively crafted 12” of his idiosyncratic take on House, Techno, Garage and beyond!

Once again, we were blown away with Harry’s grasp of producing a multitude of different electronic styles. The record launches with the melancholy-tinged Deep House/Garage crossover ‘Easy Tiger’ and its familiar vocal sample, before veering over to the more deceptively lighthearted yet carefully constructed two-step cheek of ‘RIP Ralph’.

On the b-side ‘One For The Club’ is just that, an epic and club-ready anthem with huge builds and breakdowns that’s dying to be blasted out on a huge system. Here’s hoping 2021 eventually gives us an opportunity to hear it where it’s meant to be heard!

The record closes with the sharp Tech-House/Garage skip of ‘Snake In The Grass’, another curiously catchy and original production from one of the UK’s most prolific artists.

For this second opus, Chat Noir Rec continues its momentum and offers a various composed of 4 tracks all different and complementary.

The Ep opens on the track " Prendre l'Air " by Vitess. We find the signature of the young producer with a neat and precise production, all enhanced by a millimetric breakbeat and an airy atmosphere, backed by an acid lead.

The second track is priduced by Pépé Elle who offers here a one-way ticket to England with his UKG infused "Carbon Dance" track We find all the markers of the style, from syncopated rhythmics to powerful wobble bass. Perfect to turn a club upside down on any circumstance.

The Italians from MDC open the B side with the track Bouncing. The atmosphere gets darker and sweatier. We find grimmy vocals, a heady and efficient acid bassline.

The Ep closes on the track The Resistance by Wilt. We continue to evolve in darker atmospheres with a tension that is created throughout the track without ever failing, all supported by a powerful breakbeat that will leave no one intact.

Burnski laid out one of his most impressive artistic statements to date late last year with the Instinct album "Still Life", where his love of UK garage reaches into intriguing and experimental realms. Now he's invited a host of artists to turn in remixes with some stunning results. Holloway is up first, delivering an essential remix and dub version of "Can't Run Away From Yourself" that rides a crafty breakstep groove and places plenty of moodiness into the mix. On the flip, "Badman" gets the treatment from 0113, who keeps the 2-step flex up and matches it with some tasteful atmospheric drops in all the right places, plus plenty of bass of course. Desert Sound Colony completes the set with another highly developed take on "Can't Run Away From Yourself" that locks into its own ethereal groove.

We welcome the very talented Dutch producer Daniele Temperilli to the Rhythm Vibe label who's previously releases on great labels such as "Slap Funk" & "Dungeon Meat".

After a deluge of dance producers sampling Quantic Soul Orchestra's classic 'Pushin On' the original composer Will Holland decided the time had come to take the wheel himself. 'I Won't Fade Away' features the timeless vocal of Alice Russell but veers away from previous channels, deep diving into UKG through an analogue lens, tape hiss included. By mining the less obvious vocal aspects and taking unexpected steps through broken beats, Quantic has created a genuine summer dance floor anthem just in time for our return.

Burnski's Instinct outlet continues to bring some serious firepower to the resurgent UK garage scene, and this time he's facing off with 0113 (otherwise known as Kepler.) for two rabble-rousing heaters packed with inventive twists on the 2-step formula. "Apache" is an intensely detailed roller that pivots around a killer vocal take, and uses all kinds of synth flourishes to create a wholly futuristic atmosphere - the garage of the future, but certainly not future garage. "Ignite" has a slightly more old-skool flavour that nods to past masters like Smith & Mighty as well as the pioneering work of El B et al. Classy stuff on both sides of this cool and deadly 12".

Although better known for his artistic output as Stopouts and A², back in 1997 Andy and Alec Stone turned their creative skills to the emergent UK Garage scene, producing this wonderful 4 track EP of fierce garage jams under the alias Upside, a one-off, originally released on seminal UKG label Underground Classics.

'Disco Killer' opens proceedings with melodic chords before a super thick b-line rolls in to overlay those essential skipping snares and swinging percussion. As the track unfolds, mesmeric synth riffs and deep chords bring the positive energy, vibes and an atmosphere like no other. 'Vibrations' is a deeper and much more melodious affair, featuring a warm bubbling b-line, haunting piano riff, intricate classic garage keys and melancholic pads that overlay a deftly programmed breakbeat and 4/4 drum workout that delivers the funk, depth and soul. 'House It Up' brings the NYC muscle, a proper heads down bumpin' affair. There's heavy kicks and an acidic bass that builds superbly before flipping into a warm cavernous sub. Positive pads and a clipped scat vocal create a fantastic late night garage house slammer. Lastly 'Nervous Dance' picks up the pace and thump, there's more acidic overtones, a hypnotic low slung bass, luscious strings, razor sharp hi hats and gritty percussion as it hustles and bustles it's way to the middle of the dance floor.

This is an essential piece of '90s UK Garage that we hope celebrates Andy's unique talent, musical vision, energy and dedication. Don't get it twisted though - this is a straight club record that will set it off, 2 back to back bangers in one place. This one will tear any dance down when dropped in the correct manner. It's hard, and almost pointless to try and pick a 'favourite', both of these tunes are primed to damage and still sound like they were beamed down only a few hours ago. Yes - it is that fresh, still.
