What better way to celebrate a centenary of forward thinking releases than to present one of the best kept secrets out there, MLiR aka Modern Life Is Rubbish this time joined by Arnau Obios.

After making a serious impact with their remarkable 'Swedish Lo-Life' and 'Trans-World Junktion' releases on fellow Swedish label Studio Barnhus, we're thrilled to have them onboard for our 100th release on Local Talk.

Yes, that is correct, we’re celebrating the big 100. Since the very beginning we've covered everything from the deeper shades of house to the jackin' and the gritty club jams, released some slower BPMs and also the uplifting, vocal and organic house.
As you probably noticed - we love it all.

The 100th release main track 'Lajbans' is one of those sublime tunes that is bridging the gap between all styles of dance music and got the MLiR trademark, it's epic and manages to offer plenty of subtle details to keep you locked for the full 9 minute experience.
Accompanied with the original is a masterclass in dub 'Lajbans (Bellaterra dub)'.
You got the versatility of the original carefully stripped back but also absorbing layers upon layers of seductive sonic moods, it's a trip for sure and you don't want it to end.
Once again MLiR proves why they will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come...

Following the success of the now sold out Freundchen EP, True Romance revisits the disco anthem with this hot hot hot trio of remixes, right in time for the summer. On the A side, Red Rack'Em puts Freundchen through his cut and paste wizardry delivering a heavily filtered, bass heavy, hypnotic disco version. On the flip, Lauer cranks up the groove and unleashes the pianos for a classy house rendition that oozes sunshine and smiles. Russian producer Phil Gerus's gets gritty on his take, bringing the track on a mad chopped up italo road.

Powering their way through 2019 with no sign of letting up, WOLF Music unleash their next house gem, ‘Strangerinthecity’, from German pairing Kandinsky & Mr. Fries. Six slices of soulful deepness, that range from blissfully Balearic and chugging groovers, to hazy jazz-infused sweetness, crunchy beats and sweeping interludes.

Kicking off the A side a cinematic intro, laced with movie samples and thundering pianos, gives a grand opening for ‘Stranger’ to slide in with its bongo delights, dusty trumpet melodies, psych guitar licks and fluttering Rhodes. Couple that with the modulated vocal snips and it’s a wave of warmness destined to win over any dancefloor. ‘Fallingasleep’ takes the final slot on the A side, a chuggy bass-arp-fuelled interlude with rippling hats, echoing rides and washes of the sea, to lead you serenely into the second half of the record.

On the flip side, ‘Downhere’ and ‘Strollingaround’ sandwich either side of ‘Junkfoodnmusicpt2’, like the juicy pleasures its namesake depicts, encasing it lovingly in two dreamy house numbers. The former is a trumpet laden, smokey cocktail of grooves and the latter a more disco-tinged offering, led by a dynamic bass / guitar combo alongside delicate brass and string tones. The tender filling to this deep-fried delight? ‘Junkfoodnmusicpt2’ – a beatsy trip of glistening, lo-fi, instrumental hip hop that will leave you salivating for more.

Nicewon keeps thangs moving in 2019 with the 'Mood & Impulse EP' from Jeff Swiff. Three new cuts from Jeff, long-side a stellar 'Re-Jazz’ by Donnie Moustaki. Phat drums, crisp hats, snappy leads, warm pads and all that. Four moods and a different vibe- for all hours of the night, with a Digi-Only 5th cut, available on Bandcamp. Esteemed Philpot boss Soulphiction is back on Local Talk with Beehive, a track that champions his own take on house, a sound that is both current and classic.

Beehive is in short a no-nonsense club track with freaky stab chops alongside brilliantly programmed beats.

We're offered two versions of the track, the HiPhife or the Classic mix, both infused with an addictive jack, either version you choose you'll win.

To make things even more spicy we got our buddy Jamie 3:26 returning to Local Talk.
This time he's putting the drum-machine to a serious workout and adding that special Windy City Bump he does oh so well.

Ivaylo is next up on his Bogota Records imprint with a pair of fresh new cuts that come complete with a remix from Hugo LX. Bulgarian native Ivaylo is based in Oslo, and has vast experience of the dance music industry, having continuously proving himself as an essential DJ and producer, most recently his release on Cassy's Kwench Records 'Ae Way'.

He delivers again here with Hausa, a deep roaming tune with a bassline that immediately lifts your energy. It makes for a back room track that is super tasteful and filled with warped synths and deft percussion that gets under your skin. Hugo LX serves up a tripe remix with tiny little sonic details, a spooky sense of late night mischief and neon melodies that really standout.

Last of all, House Moult is a busier, more bristling cut with jostling drums and underlapping bass, an inventive sense of musical warmth and plenty of fresh ideas that are finished with an anthemic vocal that will get the crowd on their toes.

This is another standout EP from all concerned, and another great chapter of Bogota Records.

DJ Yaroze delivers a 4 track ep with some raw late night house tracks and uplifting sample house for the real deep house warriors!

The „Sans rouge EP“ is a return to Greymatter’s sampling roots reminiscent of his early works on WOLF Music. A record that sits half way between house and hip hop, in terms of style and tempo. „Sans Rouge“ epitomises that mood: starting out with a hip hop groove that drops into a beat-down house chugger. „Royale“ drops things down to an even slower motion with another tough beat down groove, chopped and driven key samples and a catchy vocal chop. The B-side start with a nice goodie: this is the first time that the full length/12” mix of „Move Slow“ has a proper release (the short version appears on the „7 years who cares?“ 2x7“ on WOLF Music). Greymatter’s most popular track of recent years - more heavy soul chops this time pitched more towards peak time. „Billy O“ finishes things off with a slamming, choppy club jam laiden with strings and vocals. Another mighty fine Quintessetnials release that shows all the talent of Greymatter!

Swiss producer Deetron returns to Music Man Records with Heartwalking EP due out on the 23rd of November.

Fresh from releasing his DJ-Kicks mix in March of this year and the Storytellers 2x12 with DJ Bone, Heartwalking is a two track EP playing with fast moving and melodic techno. The title track is a high energy cut which tumbles over precise drums patterns and thumping bass. Heartwalking AM version adds a euphoric melody, guaranteed to keep people on the dance floor until the early hours. A perfectly composed set which continue his legacy of making thoughtful and skilful dance music.

We've got some good news for those hip shakin', booty breakin' lovers of bumpy house music: Fouk are back on Heist. Their new Truffles EP is packed with swinging goodness and comes with a jazzy Hugo LX remix. After a busy period last year, Fouk have taken the time to experiment in their studio, focusing on expanding their sound and releasing only a handful of tunes. Their 'Mating Call' EP on their own label Outplay saw them explore the deeper side of things, while remixes for artists like Joey Negro on his own Z Records alongside Ron Trent saw them show off their production skills with a superb hi tech funk track. Nearly 2 years after their 'With Lasers' EP, we now give you the 'Truffles' EP. The A-side kicks off with the title track and instantly shows you a new side of Fouk. 'Truffles' is their take on what ravey piano house should sound like and it's funky as hell. Meanwhile, 'I'll be down' is about as Fouk as you can get. With their ever so sexy percussion, a moody vocal and synthy sprinkles all around, you hear so much of what makes their music so energetic and inspiring. On the flip, 'Need my Space' sounds like something you'd hear if Pépé Bradock and Charles Webster would get together in the studio: dreamy synth lines, lovely textures and weird electronics over an ever so sexy bassline. The remix on this EP comes from Parisian artist Hugo LX, whose love for soulful electronic music and jazz are perfectly presented in his remix of 'I'll be down'. His version is filled with shimmering leads, synth hits and some lovely horns for good measure. For us, this is a case of jazzy deep house at its best. The newly found PULP imprint is focussed on re-emerging the more classic vibes in deephouse. The first effort sets the example with a 4 track Voyage from RayDilla who has been around since back when the original cradles of house music (Chicago/Detroit) enjoyed their most mythical moments. Back in the 90's Raydilla joined Larry Heard for some production work and got published on one of house music's most respected outlets (Dance Mania). After being off the radar for quite some years RayDilla (Raymond Funnye) re-ignites his releasing schedule with this classic sounding release on the PULP imprint. The 3 original tracks sound like warm classy intergalactic journeys and get complimented by a wonderful ''DaRand Land'' remix, who is most known for his efforts on Chris Gray's infamous Deep4Life label. Joss returns with the new EP "Smart Feelings".

After the first release by Dirty Channels and huge supports from Palms Trax, The Black Madonna, Annie Mac, Rampa, Disclosure, Tom Trago and many others, Take It Easy is back! The second release of the label connected to the well-know party Take It Easy in Milan, comes from the party and label co-owner DJLMP. For his debut EP, DJLMP shows his eclectic vision of the club music, passing throw disco samples, house music and percussive vibes. "Blow Your Mind" open the EP with an epic and dreamy filtered sample. On a2, DJLMP gives his dancefloor and house vision of "Kachi Kachi" by the brilliant In Flagranti. Edging in a little 80's sauce to meet with tought and gritty dancefloor attentions "Tiger Cat" is a clear highlight on the record. "Angry" close the EP with its disco percussions and trumpets. Perfect tool to cross between house and disco tracks.

This November sees the launch of Manchester based imprint Music Is Love Records, kicking things off with a four-track release of sublime house cuts in the form of 'Back In The Dayz' by Dutch duo New Jack City.
In true Manchester fashion the labels philosophy is to create a platform for releasing 90's tipped underground house music and embodying a hands on attention to detail with heavyweight vinyl, hand curated artwork and
high grade remix artists set for each release. Local acts, artist friends and up and coming producers will be providing releases from the off with label owners Oli Furness and Angus Jefford delivering remix works on each
under their Music Is Love guise. Arnhem based New Jack City launch things here, they're relatively fresh faces on the scene having formed their collaboation in early 2011, their ethos is heavily focused on Chicago house
music with an old school grit and rawness incorporated.
Title track 'Back In The Dayz' opens the release, utilizing timeless 909 drum programming with a big open hat, off-kilter claps and weighty kick. A subtle sub bass softly meanders around the drums in the background adding a bouncy shuffle while warm Rhodes chords build the track alongside a filtered vocal chop. Classic house stabs are introduced to the latter stages alongside a soulful spoken word vocal about the feeling of house rounding off the old school vibe. Next up is label owners Music is Love's rework of 'Back In The Dayz', adding a sharp intensity to the drums with an insistent snare pattern running throughout and the signature sounds of 90's house, a deep bubbling organ hook brought in, this is a brilliantly contrasting remix from the duo with a clear distinction yet capturing the vibe of the original cut beautifully.
Next up is 'Gimme That Chance', a pacier affair picking up the tempo slightly and embracing a US Garage vibe. Dreamlike synth chords, warbling pad lines and a sonorous walking sub-bass build the tracks body while an
amalgamation of vocal chops are layered, looped and processed throughout, creating an ever evolving dynamism.
'The Golden Age' closes the release with crunchy distorted drums and heavily reverberated synth shots running from the start, the track takes on a darker form than the preceding tracks with a peak-time dance floor approach. The introduction of a warm melodic synth melody in the centre stages adds a unifying house touch, breaking things down before the pumping heavily swung rhythm re-enters and tails out the track.
This is an outstanding inaugural release from Music Is Love Records and a clear indication of the sheer quality to come from this brand new Northern England based label.

Look Like makes his debut on Clone Royal Oak with a great four track ep! A fresh take on classic house music. Italo house, Balearic beat, Chicago's stomp and Detroit's funk all stirred up into a nice loose hybrid that seems to become Look Likes signature sound. Lovely stuff!! Sweat Equity is thrilled to present its first entry into the world of wax with XP, a powerful drop from Philadelphia’s DJ Delish. Spanning six tracks, the record is a striking introduction to a singular talent.

DJ Delish lives at the epicenter of East Coast club culture, having cut her teeth on the ballroom circuit as both a DJ and performer. Over the past few years, she’s also unleashed a string of self-released EPs and albums on her SoundCloud, as well as a split single with Sweat Equity’s Macy Rodman. XP marks her first outing on vinyl, and she pulls no punches.

The record is a rich landscape, flawlessly weaving between ballroom, hip-hop, ballads and house. Her command of multiple musical forms speaks to her time both in the booth and on the dancefloor. The vital energy of each track is matched only by the wit and incisiveness of her lyrics, with songs about everything from shady promoters to sexual intrigue. Her wealth of experience and abundant narrative ingenuity bring personal stories and intricate histories to life.

When we think of the rise of electronic dance music, especially the raves that blossomed in the late 80s/early 90s, we inevitably think of DJs... but there's another side to that story. Right from the start, live performers were at the heart of things; synth wizards who would plug in and play their analogue kit and send crowds as wild as any DJ. This album, curated by legendary promoter Sean McLusky for Mixmag - the world's biggest dance music and culture brand - showcases some of the most seminal artists from this golden era, led by the original synth wizard Adamski and also featuring seismic rare cuts from Orbital, Nexus 21, 808 State and a whole host more. Ebbing pads initiate the package in 'Think' before teasing in intricate percussion and moody bass throbs. Metallic synths, mesmerising atmospherics and an ominous hook then make up 'Front To Back' before moving on to the soaring chords and trippy nuances of 'Everything You Do'. Tying things together, 'Universal Man' layers a medley of undulating components as ethereal effects operate throughout.

Vive La Musique burst onto the scene last year with the hugely successful "Tabala Mouv". For the follow-up, they present two songs from prolific Congolese talent, Sammy Massamba, taken from his cult self-released album "1990 - Beni Soit Ton Nom". Title track "Azali" immediately hooks you in with its mysterious intro, laden with early 90s keyboards and drum machine. Sammy's funk guitar and anthemic vocal lines turn this unique composition into an infectious afro-pop masterpiece. Label founder Aroop Roy steps up with a customary edit, extending the arrangement and giving the drums and mix a modern-club touch. Sammy describes the second track, "Birika", as a mix of Congolese Rumba, Afrobeat. and Reggae. A mid-tempo bass and guitar groove form the backdrop for Sammy's powerful vocals. An exquisite rumba guitar line completes another high class composition.

'You become responsible, forever, for what you've tamed", Antoine de Saint-Exupéry writes in his modern fairy tale 'The Little Prince', in which his protagonist travels through various worlds in search of friendship and benevolence. The quote is, no doubt, fitting for Niko Schwind, since the Berlin-based DJ and producer consistently demonstrates a deeply anchored love for and close bond to house music, the art form he himself has tamed. As a DJ, he travels the globe, having played in Europe, Australia, Thailand, Brazil, the US and Mexico, and in his sets he creates a feeling of connectedness between himself and others, as well as within the crowd. On Stil vor Talent, Niko Schwind now presents the fruit of his labour in the from of his third album: 'Grippin' World' captivates the listeners with its versatility and coherence, and kidnaps them to a world of sound, made up of elegantly reduced grooves, organic arrangements and accessible vocal-melodies. With 'Perfect Fit', the first single of the album, we are handed an absolute highlight, as Heartbeat's warm voice and a simple guitar-loop form a flawless musical symbiosis, accentuated by a synthetically creaking bass-line. Niko thus proofs he's more than capable of practicing restrained Minimalism with a pop-impact. 'Perfect Fit' then gets the floor treatment: while Niko turns in a reduced, tool-oriented club cut, the hitherto unknown Proud bursts onto the scene with a dreamy arrangement centred around atmospheric synths on his remix. His latest release I KNOW from Elypsia Records is a quintet of Detroit inspired remixes of the song 'I Know'. Inspired by Kevin Saunderson, his original TECHNO MIX (7:06) is a hardcore and high energy track with intensity to match the wildest of crowds. The EP also contains 3 remixes of the track, each exposing and accentuating the brilliant aspects of his complex tune. It begins with the LUCIEN FOORT REMIX (6:41), a lively big room hit with a punch fit for an epic Saturday night. UK MIX (6:46) follows with subtle electric melo-dies and rhythmic drum and bass patterns that give listeners the feel of wonder and excitement under a clear starry sky. With a clean and gravitating groove BIT FLOAT REMIX (7:42) would fit perfectly in any Ibiza party with flair and style. This release is a masterpiece of its own and nothing less than the product of a man who was born with beats and melodies ingrained in his soul. For Orlando Voorn, making music is more than a way of life, it's a necessity. From the early age of 9 his natural intuitions became apparent when his drum teacher told his parents he could play everything that was shown to him, even though he had no ability to read a score. He began to DJ at the age of 12, and 3 years later won the World Mixing Championships of 1983 at just 15 years old. Steve Clisby, from the popular American band 'American Gypsies', recognized Voorn's ability and taught him chord structures, which gave him the tools to begin composing tracks using keys and bass. His artistry then took off, making a name for him-self with his vibrant dance tracks under the alias 'Frequency". Today, he's known as one of the Netherland's most inventive and ingenious producers in the world of electronic dance music. Project Runaway brings together two of Tel Aviv's new breed of talented DJ / producers in a meeting of tripped out, expansive, psychedelic, club music. Landing on Especial to expand horizons is Met, their debut EP of deep, percussive dubs for late night tribes. A name on many leftfield lips, Alek Lee's journey continues following two acclaimed solo releases for the wonderful Antinote crew and new project, Shame On Us (alongside Naduve and Yovav Arzi) for that brightest star, Hivern Discs. Teaming up with the sound production skills of Stephan Bazbaz they create Project Runaway. Holding down his own citywide residencies, Bazbaz has developed a studio mastery of minimal dub, crispy house and trippy techno via a growing stream releases on numerous labels, as well as setting up his own No Wave records in 2016. After their welcoming, simple, yet wall quacking remix of Persian (EES031), Met, or 'dead' in Hebrew, bring their strands together as one sound. In original form, a vibrating drum takes on bass backbone is broadened with tight layers of percussion overtones and warped vocal interplay. Lee's psychedelic imaginings are a perfect fit across Bazbaz's wide production expanse, before horns raise the heat to extreme. For deeper DJs and big system dwellers, Met (Dub) does as it should, stripping away and opening wide. Hand percussion and vox ride the channels, coming in and out of the mix, while dub stabs transfix and could run for days. A meeting of minds, drums, psychedelics and pure club love.

Opener - Dark Side has perfectly swung drums bringing a New York feel, with razor sharp hi hats and big warm kicks powering it along. Ducking and diving as it goes, the dynamism will sweep up the floor and then busy vocals and taught synth twangs help ramp things up.

The brilliant - Take It Back on the flip is another vocal house banger, with lots of filters bringing the tensions, sweeping synths rising you up and heavy drums keeping things rooted to the groove.

Jovonn's Body N'Deep label continues after the success of Jovonn's 'Timeless' album with a various artists EP from Franck, Roger, Delano Smith, Sean McCabe and rising talent Monocue. Franck Roger delivers the Body N' Deep with a rolling New Jersey inspired club track on 'Get Ready' and Sean McCabe continues the theme with a soulful house joint ticking all the right boxes on 'Freak It'. Delano Smith brings the heat with a deep disco groove on 'Moon Dance' and the final track see's Monocue showcase his talents with the deeper than deep 'Borrowed Days'.

London's finest duo TOUGH LOVE are up next on MOTHER RECORDRINGS with their debut EP on the imprint, setting course to continue the labels phenomenal growth within the house music scene. Over the years TOUGH LOVE have had chart topping success both in the dance and commercial ranking and gained club and radio support from heavy hitters such as Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Roger Sanchez, Todd Terry, Duke Dumont and Danny Howard.
The title track 'Power' features a soulful vocal which reverberates around the build up, acting as a pathway to what is a monstrous drop of rolling hats and classic house bass line.

Having both released on the imprint previously with solo EPs, as well as a combined back catalogue spanning Repopulate Mars, Emerald City Music and Snatch, the pair come together in fine form blending their rich tech house sounds offering up two slick cuts.

'That Sound' kicks things off with a soulful vocal which glides over a pulsing bass line and rolling tech drums. Flurries of percussive elements add to the infectious groove.

On the flip, 'Hustle Jam' is a genius blend of disco sampling and club focussed house music, filtered horns and guitar grip a hold of you from the first hit, sending you on what is bound to be a dance filled journey.

Following on from 2018's 'Tribeca Tapes Part One' release, Willie Graf & his musical partner Darren Eboli deliver another fantastic 4 tracker on Copenhagen's Music For Dreams Label.

Willie Graff splits his year between DJ residencies in New York and Ibiza (Pacha). In this second outing with studio partner Darren Eboli, the influence is, African, NY clubbing, World mixing Mediterranean and further afield. The duo finds its roots in the past, building a link between the soul of a song and the warmth of a melody then combining them with a contemporary sound.

The opener 'All Is Bliss' sits at the pinnacle of the underground - A powerful, Balearic, disco influenced club track full of Spanish guitar, handclaps, club synths sounds like it was made for Dj Harvey's 'Mercury Rising' at Pikes in Ibiza. 'Ahimsa' is an outstanding track with funky breakbeat, weird Eastern samples, sneaking acid and Kraftwerk like arpeggios.

'La Sirena' is a balearic beach styled mid tempo chugger with chopped up breaks, deep sub-bass, Compass Point styled keys, whispering voices saying 'Let Your Mind Be Free'. If you are a Cafe Del Mar connoisseur and longing for that sunset moment 'Bellatrix' does the trick featuring bits of Spanish Guitar, Flute, Oboe and floating warm pads creating that early 90ties vibe. Another winner from Willie and Darren - and hopefully an album soon.

M.A.D. is a collaboration of the Funkroom DJs and producers Moxx And Digilog.

After having contributed single tracks for YOSHI005 and WWM003 they subsequently announced their first EP together as M.A.D.

Their 'Sanset EP' consists of four drum-oriented House/Techno hybrids which, through their cutting-edge production, stand the test of time and work very well with contemporary dancefloor-minded club music alike.

Following on from the positive feedback for KRL's 'Third' EP (Quintessentials 62), we had to give the standout track 'Never Leave' the remix treatment. 'Never Leave' is a straight up house track with those beats and rhythmic synths, but with the outstanding vocals of Janine Small it makes it a head turner! The A-side remix, courtesy of Greymatter (Wolf Music, Unique Uncut) keeps the overall vibe of the original, but adds more dirt and bass business ready for club action. The B-side remix courtesy of Quintessentials buddy Loz Goddard (Church, Razor-n-Tape) takes a step into deep broken beat territory while keeping the beautiful vocals. We love both remixes, job's done!
