Formed in late 2014, Berlin-based Irish/Australian duo Evvol released their debut album 'Eternalism' via !K7 Records in the summer of 2015. Following European live runs with Peaches and YACHT and worn out by the immediacy of preset-sound achieved through popular computer music programs, the pair holed up in their Kreuzberg studio to write their wonderfully atmospheric and deeply personal 'Physical L.U.V' EP. Released last year to critical acclaim, it's title track has now been given the deluxe remix treatment it deserves, with new cuts from two Dutch artists at the top of their game. Panorama Bar's first lady and Ostgut Records mainstay Steffi kicks things off with a unique, downbeat interpretation of the original, showcasing the beautifully melodic and captivating style that has cemented her status in the realms of contemporary electronic music. Next up her fellow Klakson Records honcho ramps things up with his own audacious take on the track. Dexter's first brush with the electronic music world was on the dancefloor as part of a breakdance crew. Back then he learnt the power of rhythm and how to move a floor, going on to release on Clone, Rush House and Ostgut himself, producing everything from pioneering electro to deeper house and raw techno.

01AM is the perfect time to start a party and it is the first release of a new label by Afrobot related to his Afrobotic Musicology blog. The record contains 4 edits of music from different corners of the globe: to begin with an epic electro pop nugget from Greece and a heavily cut up Bollywood track on the A side, to finish the journey in Africa on the flip side with a percussive acid jam and a Zulu cult song that screamed for a rework.

Josh Butler makes an appearance on Definition with his delightfully retro 'Sideways Acid' EP. Opening the 3 track EP is the title track, a rich, thick throwback to the days of Acid House sure to get any dance floor moving in no time. Next, we've got 'Educate', a straight house percussion with a warm rhythmic chord thrown over it. It's relaxed enough to listen to at home, but contains enough energy to be played in the club. Lastly, 'What I Want' starts us off with a nice and heavy beat before building up to a playful bass line and wandering vocal cuts that sit nicely in the background. All in all, Josh Butler shows us a beautiful example of how modern House done right. Kris Wadsworth's

Believe it or not but Uncanny Valley looks back on five years of releasing records this summer. There was a bit of discussion on how to celebrate this occasion properly. Instead of just turning into the typical Greatest hits-routine the label heads Albrecht, Carl, Conrad and Philipp decided to look back and forth. So, besides a record that unleashes four tracks from the vaults of these five years there will be a record with new material too. Here's "Uncanny Valley: Five Years On Parole - what's happening"! Chinaski is a great artist to open this record as his solo EP for Uncanny Valley is in the making. His dreamy "Angel Heart" has already caused a stir on many dance floors with its enthusiastic synths and bittersweet melodies. Derive on the other hand is a good example for another accompanying factor that was important for Uncanny Valley: collaborations. This time it is UV artist Sneaker and the Greek synth genius June that created the wonderful Krautrock inspired synth odyssey "Schicksalhafte Begegnung". Like Chinaski there is also a solo EP from Panthera Krause for Uncanny Valley at the ready. His pumping "Coochie" is a first foretaste of what is to come. A versatile track that has everything an open-minded listener of Dance music is looking for. Iron Curtis completes the EP with "Ensuite", an Acid driven piece of Electronic music that is just as old school as it is vigorous. Besides lots of other artists, it was former Dresden and now Berlin based artist Paul Waak who had a formative influence on all the visual aspects of Uncanny Valley. Sure thing that he was the man to create the artwork for both records in true Paul Waak style.

Take Daniel Leseman's signature swing and loose arrangements, add a touch of Junktion's knack for jazzy chords and sampling, and you get Fouk. After a set of excellent solo releases on their own Outplay records and Slow Town, the duo now turn to Heist with a killer EP. Kill Frenzy's wobbling bass line might easily be a playful Dave Holland getting into his zone, and all the tiny elements and variations give Kill Frenzy that perfect vibe to really get a party going. Lefty's Bar goes a step further on the jazzy vibe, with the same loose percussion and vintage keys, a lazy horn section and a lovely twisted and turned female vocal sample filtering in and out. Ken sent me is perhaps the most straightforward track on the EP, with Rhodesy pads and a great use of tremolo to give swing to the 4x4 rhythm.
