Detroit icon Eddie Fowlkes drops ‘Forever EP’ on Rekids this March.

As one of Techno’s originators, Godfather of Techno Soul Eddie Fowlkes has shaped the Techno genre for over 36 years. With his releases on Metroplex, Tresor, Sony, Peacfrog, and his own imprint CityBoy Records and Detroit Wax Label, Fowlkes' contribution to the blueprint of modern electronic music cannot be overstated.

Returning in fierce form for 2023, Eddie Fowlkes arrives on Radio Slave’s Rekids with a sizzling four-tracker. From the red hot drums and trippy vocals on the opening track ‘Forever’ through to the bubbly synths and swinging percussion on the B2 ‘Nice’, Fowlkes’ funk-infused House and Techno has its sights set squarely on the dancefloor - an unwavering testament to the lasting production chops of a true originator.

Vick Lavender returns to Cataleya Music with the sensational Chicago Blue Line. This is a magical key led jam with a deep reaching melody. The first half has an acidic bassline, whilst the second features a free flowing flute and a strong bass guitar. Remixes come from two legendary producers. First up is Spiritual House pioneer Antonio Ocasio. The Tribal Winds boss provides a glorious star gazing effort with 'Lofty' key work and flexing sax. The equally esteemed Kai Alcé takes the track in a different direction. His remix starts as an energetic dancefloor winner with unrelenting percussion and an instep bassline. Three minutes later, the mood changes with freeform jazz piano, live percussion and pointed trumpeting. Chicago Blue Line is another high quality release from Sweden's Cataleya Music.

In great music just like in language in order to express a feeling you have to capture the thought, the experience, the memory, the feeling inside the mind and be able to understand it but in language we often use ready made templates reaching for the nearest possible word and then adjusting our thoughts accordingly. In art or in any accurate or faithful self expression sometimes we have to push a little further than that… beyond the linguistic templates. Sometimes you have to get inside the cracks that exist between the words or at least between the feelings that already have names and you have to kindly blindly and bravely feel your way around and in faithful self expression you go and light up the dark space. That´s a very powerful thing in a world in which we not always have the tools or the context to express the foremost who we are. Music has the unparalleled ability to take all of ones pain, put into a single frame and invite us to relive it with all of the joy of the experience and non of the suffering. Like a wind turbine converts the wind´s kinetic energy into electrical power through art we have the ability to convert the emotional experience, the human experience and convert into sole beauty long after the pain has passed. HDSN is back with his fifteenth studio record full of extra strong pain relievers crafted of a variety of binaural sounds to sooth your body, mind and soul. This record is maybe fashioned for everywhere but the dance floor but that still has the power to make you move and, above all, the magic to make you feel much longer.

6th Borough Project have just dropped their second LP Borough To Borough to a great reaction with the vinyl holding pole position on the Juno LP chart (knocking Moodymann off the top spot) and garnering much praise from DJ's and press alike.

You know we like a good remix at Delusions Of grandeur and here we present not one but three very different takes on three of the LP tracks. Opening up the A side we have rising star Cuthead serving up his trademark scratchy, swinging MPC beats with clattering percussion and stabbing chords on his excellent remix of Back 2 Black. Perfect, leftfield house music with depth and flair and a perfect example of why the Uncanny Valley regular is picking up so much praise right now.

Next up Fantastic Man gets to grips with Read My Mind, bringing a lovely bit of proto-house flavour to the release on this James Mason 'Nightgruv' inspired remix. Chiming DX7 synths and lush pads are the order of the day here, creating a lovely warm up vibe before going heads down and dubby for the final 3 minutes.

Flipping over we're treated to some lush, slo-mo-lo-slung vibes on the Ben La Desh remix of Walk Away, the Dutch producer teasing things out with a chugging 7 minute workout which will sound dreamy and creamy on a big system.

Greek DJ & Producer Le Croque joins Groovin Recordings for his second vinyl release. His latest EP "The Cure" is a mind bending journey into electronic music.

"The Cure" features the legendary artist Baby Blak in spoken word taking you on a melodic afro-deep house trip. The remix by Italian Producer Freakme injects another dimension with a deep-electronic vibe. “Summer love” is a summer soundtrack for a Santorini sunset.

It brings together 80s nostalgia via pads and synths with the amazing piano solos of Tasos Korkovelos, taking it to another level. Last but not least, “Your Story”: a deep-house track carrying memories of the scene’s golden era, influenced by Le Croque’s favourite House Producers like Fred Everything, Jimpster and Opolopo.

The tone always makes the music. But only those who actually make the sound An ancient-house-avantgarde dream has always been there since the legendary "Warehouse" days of Ron Hardy, to bring more sounds and tones constantly to an independent, repetitive development. And thus beyond the limits of an executive creative artist on the otherwise purely commercial sense what we call in common - beyond imagination'.

"Raw Footage", the latest album concoction of Chicago house legend Ron Trent (Prescription) on his new imprint "Electric Blue" works in the best sense of Stanislav Lem heroes Trurl & Klapauciusals, cruising like those two metal brains frantically invented by the universe of 4/4-Sounds to get insane tracks out of the new material matter located there, and put them together to brand new ones. This trackwerk varies as well as of course between classical Chi-Town to the context of contemporary, epic house dubs and lives in a perfidious manner from the interaction of various computer modules that constantly spits out new and exciting interactions. In the end, the software sings only as digital output of great analog sounds, which may well be understood as a mocking voice to the majority of contemporary Homeboy wackiness formats."Unpredictable" and less "cryptic" might fit here as a keyword excellent, where you kick out of the rough house plant a significant entertainment value must, without the need to posess necessarily the same nerves of steel. Anyone who has ever really wondered what House sound could be appropriate for a journey through the vastness of the universe is, gets there now at this point completely to his fullest expense. Trent 2012 and its tracks on this album reflect a lot about the revolutionary founder of - Spirit of music' from the mid-80s, who is recorded then as now but with inadequate slogans such as "light years ahead of its time". For as Trents body of work "Raw Footage" is also particularly scary genius material, although still of totally solid stress field and background from the musical spectrum between the Windy City and the Motor City engine bridled her."But heres to the Future" - For Sir Trent more than twenty years after "Altered States" and the relevant follow-ups, thats not really a problem!

2024 Repress

In the midst of House music's burgeoning scene in 1986 Chicago, a young local DJ named Jonathan Gilbert, known as Scrappy, seized a golden opportunity to showcase his skills at the renowned Medusa's Club's video room. It was in 1987, one fateful night, when the main DJ failed to show up, that Gilbert stepped in, securing a residency at one of the city's hottest spots. As the year progressed, Gilbert ventured into music production, teaming up with The Boxx Boys--Jim Marcus and Van Christie, notable for their later formation of the iconic group Die Warzau. Their collaboration birthed the legendary acid house anthem from Chicago, "Freeze," which Gilbert released under his Zap Records label in 1988, solidifying his place in Chicago's music history. The track became a timeless favorite, and is often featured in Jerome Derradji's sets. With Scrappy's gracious consent, we have the privilege of reissuing this seminal track, along with delving into his archives to uncover previously unreleased gems and alternate versions from his Atlantic Records era around 1990. For a brief period, Scrappy rode the waves of Chicago's house scene with his distinctive flair before bidding farewell to pursue new horizons in California. Presented for the first time on Still Music, "Acid House + Medusa's - Chicago, 1987-1992" invites listeners on a journey through the vibrant tapestry of late-eighties Chicago House. DJing, indulgence, romance, and the pulsating beats of acid house defined Scrappy's era, and fortunately, he left behind a legacy of unforgettable house tunes, emblematic of the city's unparalleled musical spirit. This limited edition DLP release, accompanied by an insert detailing the captivating tale of one of Chicago's unsung talents, ensures that Scrappy's story and his contribution to the era remain etched in musical history.
