For almost 10 years, Zimmer has conquered the dance floors of the world without ever stopping. The young French boy, who grew up between Annecy and Los Angeles, fell in love with electronic music in the mid-2000s.
He needs little time to try to fiddle with machines, train in his corner, and then launch into the unknown. It was not until 2010 that his first EP came out. The famous Portuguese dj Moullinex spotted and published his first productions on his label Discotexas.
Zimmer, Baptiste Mours of his real name, becomes one of the spokespersons of the Soundcloud generation and started to tour around the world. Over the years, still self-taught, his creations have taken a real turn, away from the nu-disco of his debut to go pick on the side of the heady house, pure techno and a clever pop that will become his trademark. But his metamorphosis at Roche Musique was progressive. It was felt through productions more and more licked, getting closer to dynamics more minimalist and perhaps a little more upset than those of its beginnings.
Over the EP and its famous mixtapes, the Zimmer sound refined, until reaching its peak with this first album that plays genres with ingenuity. Throughout the record, the French composer Baptiste Mours alternates between tracks and techno songs by the moment, but always with the DNA of Zimmer - understand with the soft and captivating sounds that we know, this deep bass that resonates with background of the synth pads he has been using for years now, and especially surfing on 100 BPM beats, which is his signature now (and far from the cold Berlin rhythms at 130 BPM).

The indie dance and leftfield techno magicians Radial Gaze join the Urge To Dance family after remarkable releases for labels such as TAU, Feines Tier, Calypso and Eskimo. The Saint Petersburg-based project is accompanied by Thomass Jackson and Zombies in Miami on remix duties for the mesmerizingly exotic “In Each Other” EP.
The leading track, In Each Other, is a multi-layered and infectiously danceable combination of addictive bassline, magical Cameroonian drums, Amazonian percussions and mystical marimbas creating a mysterious and exotic track. Psych Subsidy delivers dirty, energising and somehow hypnotic emotions. Entrancing sitars loops, long pitched synthesizer and a twisted old lullaby female vocal will get you on board for an amazing psych-trip.
The B-side is where Thomass Jackson and Zombies in Miami deliver their wild and unorthodox remixes of In Each Other. The Thomas Jackson True Love Remix is emotional, hypnotising and yet so trippy, a true testament of Calypso Records Boss’ remixing skills. The second take of the leading track is by Zombies in Miami, a powerful and forward-looking track that blends the hypnotic percussions of the original with a rhythmic bassline and flawless simplicity of all elements used in this remix.
Composer, percussionist and multidisciplinary artist RRUCCULLA is undoubtedly one of the most eclectic projects to emerge from Spain in recent times, combining abstraction, plasticity and experimentation with an uncommon mastery.
Since her first impact on the electronic "headz" scene with SHuSH Sound Sketches, 2018, the Basque producer has been carefully distilling her new album Zeru Freq., which will be released on Barcelona’s Lapsus record label. The album is wide-ranging, interweaving sound and art that transports the listener into an immersive universe.
Zeru Freq. envelops us in a Euskadi environment, guiding us through an open-air museum, containing a collection of eleven sound productions that fuse nature, landscapes and the local climate. This epic musical journey incorporates organic frequencies painted in Technicolor, in which hyper-realistic synthesizer textures merge with acoustic instruments, resulting in an atmospheric ambient sound that warps our perceptions of reality.
At a sonic level the unmistakable stamp of RRUCCULLA is omnipresent, but this time she climbs to even higher plains. Zeru Freq. explores an expanded aural palette, traversing the borders of strictly electronic music, while laying foundations for a new audio discourse. Throughout its eleven tracks, RRUCCULLA embraces the broadest spectrum of contemporary music, flirting with avant- garde electronica at will, without succumbing to labels or pigeonholing.

Tafi Allstars is a collaborative recording project between Optimo Music artists Thomas Lea Clarke (MR TC) and Conal Blake (Whilst) and members of the Tafi Cultural Institute of Tafi Atome, Ghana. After having previously visited Tafi Atome to take part in the Music of the Volta Region Study tours that are organised by TCI in collaboration with Green Door Studio, Clarke and Blake secured funding from Creative Scotland to travel back to Tafi in November 2016 to record a mini-album of tracks that blend the rhythms and melodies of traditional Borborbor and Agbadza drumming forms and Ewe songwriting with electronic instrumentation and dub recording techniques.
Clarke and Blake travelled to Tafi with a basic recording set up of laptop, microphone and soundcard, a drum machine and a synthesizer and the six tracks on the record came to fruition through various ways of working. Gormedzedze' (The Beginning) in which Michael 'Chilly' Dzandu recites, in Ewe, the story of how the relationship between Green Door and TCI began, was built from the skeleton of an instrumental idea that had been prepared in Glasgow. Wor' (Togetherness) and 'Agbe Me Nya Wo' (History of Life) were built up from songs composed by vocalists Regina Egbeako and Regina Anyormi. 'Cantata' is a traditional slow form of Agbadza drumming that Clarke and Blake simply overdubbed with various electronic sounds and more vocals from Chilly. Finally the title track 'Outside Rhythm' is a straight percussion jam performed by Agblor Jerry Philip outside of the new 'Ghanaian Door' recording studio that is being built for the community of Tafi Atome through the help of projects like this and the 'Youth Stand Up!' album which was released on Autonomous Africa in 2015. After returning from Tafi, all the tracks were finalised and mixed at the Green Door Studio in Glasgow with the help of Stuart Evans and Emily Maclaren.
The resulting mini LP 'Outside Rhythm' will be released on Autonomous Africa on the 22nd of September with all the proceeds from the sale of this record going back to Tafi to fund the completion of the Ghanaian Door Studio.

Studio Barnhus' head honcho, Axel Boman, starts off the A side with a catchy bassline, hypnotic and nostalgic synths and ring modulated guitars. After being road tested for years, we are super happy to finally get to release his song "Oasis", a surfy summer heater in all its glory.
A2 comes from TAF KIF's own Velmondo, known for his work on Hivern Discs and Compost Records. He blesses us with "Echo Welt", a leftfield psychedelic excursion filled with Balearic vibes, krauty bubblegum beats and exotic percussion. What else could you ask for?
TAF KIF's MLiR, a usual name for those familiarised with the Studio Barnhus' catalogue, open the flip side with the mega sexy "It's Baby Time". Smooth operators in the house, baby!

Contagion Vapors was recorded between May 2020 and March 2021, in tandem with 'Transgressive Transmissions'. Both albums have been released by Castles in Space, however they feature completely different sonic energies.
Caught up in the first wave of pandemic doom/gloom which resulted in a bizarre creative bloom for Patrick, both albums have unique sounds anchored in the immense Patrick R Pärk/Kösmonaut discographies. This one is definitely a Kösmonaut record, however.
Patrick’s Contagion Vapors is a vaporwave sonic adventure which
soothes the worn soul like an icy balm with its motorik repetitions and sonic patterns and swirls.
Uncharacteristically upbeat and always positive, the album was a personal exercise in not becoming consumed by COVID isolation and misery. Major influences were Patrick Cowley, Cybotron, Automat, Cluster, and Harmonia and the entire album was recorded / mixed in the midnight witching hours over the course of only 2-3 days.
Ever prolific, Patrick is currently deep diving hard into post Y2K New Age conjurations with his massive Galactic Mirage project which should see another CD box set later this year. There's also some forthcoming Teeth Of Glass vinyl coming from Library Of the Occult later this year and plenty of Patrick’s self released "chrome sonic babies" in between.

One of Larry Heard's most under-rated albums finally remastered and available as full vinyl release for the first time! Known for his classic early house releases Larry Heard's productions always hinted at deepest outer space, but his 1996 Alien album was his first actual science-fiction record. It's almost as polished as the most mainstream dance production, but just as sublime as any Detroit producer. Heard's house roots often show themselves, while the chords and shimmering production make this an album almost on par with Heard's mid-'80s peak. The project was a recording & sound-development experiment that was mostly constructed around a Korg O1/W workstation keyboard that was left at Larry's studio to check out by Victor 'melodious myles' Houston along with some of the staples of his studio, including the Roland d550 and Oberheim Matrix 1000. Mr Fingers magic touch can be heard all over the album, and this showcases the incredible musical talents of the man, who's name by now cant be left out from any hall of fame when you're talking music innovators from the last century! Recommended!
New installment in the Slow Life catalog by Primary Perception, two blood brothers born and raised in the Canary Island, but living in Berlin for the last years. It's in the German capital where they got to meet and support the Slow Life crew since their beginnings, and where they developed their fresh but
matured sound shown on this their first album. "Evidence of a Primary Perception" clearly has the trademark Slow Life character, combining broken beats, pads, acid bass lines, ambient passages, and overall, groovy deepness. They have more music coming soon in 2017, so as the label suggest: "They

Kamai Music is growing quickly into one of the most interesting labels in the down and mid-tempo genre. After a successful debut compilation, the young Berlin label hits back with 'Fana'. A three track EP produced by Ulises. The Argentinian multi-instrumentalist merges in a very unique way his own South American roots with driving grooves and unexpected chords, colours and moods througout all tracks. Ali Kuru and Zigan Aldi join this release with two beautiful remixes. Last but not least Kamai celebrates with 'Fana' also their first vinyl release - including a digital bonustrack (redeem for whole EP via bandcamp) !

ECHT! - an instrumental, futuristic four-piece inspired by the concepts absorbed in electronic music and musical production. Taking inspiration from artists including Jonwayne, DJ Rashad, Deantoni Parks, J Dilla, Dorian Concept and Aphex Twin, ECHT! combine electro, hip-hop, trap, funk and futuristic jazz, resulting in a distinct and unique sound.
On the 24th September, ECHT! are set to release their highly anticipated debut album 'INWANE' via the groove-obsessed, Gent-based label Sdban Ultra. Releasing their debut EP 'DOUF' in 2019, the Brussels quartet has not stopped working, recently releasing three sublime live studio sessions titled the BREWmixes which received support from tastemakers including LEFTO, Worldwide FM and Belgian national radio station Studio Brussel (StuBru).
Echt means 'vrai de vrai' - 'true' or 'real' in brusseleir (Brabantian dialect of Brussels). The name is a direct reference to the fact that their sound transmission is 'real', performed with conventional musical instruments as oppose to computer music which the production might suggest. It also relates to the fact that none of the members of the band are originally from Brussels - bassist Federico Pecoraro is from Italy, keyboardist Dorian Dumont is from France and drummer Martin Méreau and guitarist Florent Jeunieaux are both from the Mons region on Belgium.
"For our first album, we wanted to go into deeper beats. We were listening a lot to trap, gritty hip-hop & bass music, and we tried to emulate those kinds of beats on our instruments. The darkish mood of those music genres was fitting for us with this strangest year of 2020. But we also wanted to give a contrast with some brighter parts, where the human feeling is more present. This duality continued in the mixing process by pushing or destroying some sounds, adding electronic textures & effects, but also keeping some sounds really acoustic & organic. The result is for us a mature album: the feeling of electronic music emulated on instruments is confirmed but the human vibe stays central."
From the abstract patterns of 'Permanent' and melodic atmospherics of 'Dunes' to the futuristic funk of 'Charlier', ECHT! look to emulate the producer's off-beats, the compressor's swell, the repeating samples or the DJ's transitions. Elsewhere, the trap-heavy sounds of '500gr.' and subby bass stylings of 'Champi' push things forward, before the scatter rhythms of 'Kiekebiche' and weighty rumblings of 'Drache' integrate the inhuman heritage of electronic music and 're-humanise' it.
Counting BBC Radio 6 Music's Gilles Peterson as a fan, in 2020, ECHT! were voted the third best band at the RedBull Elektropedia Awards under the 'Fresh On the Scene' catergory with debut EP 'DOUF' also receiving a nomination for 'Best EP'.

The new 12” series on Ballyhoo Records is dedicated to what label owner ‘Thee J Johanz’ describes as ‘Triptech Journeys’. The series takes the listener on a journey traversing old school house to mystical acid and everything in-between.
On volume 2, titled ‘Trancedenting Machines’, side a treats us to two tracks from Master Johanz. First, we have his track ‘Jack the Tripper, which utilizes the famous Dutch analog synth the “Synton Syrinx” and gives the track its swampy bubbling filter sounds and a massive intense hypnotizing drone sound in the background. This coupled with the steady grooving beat will take you to the moon and back. Next up is his track ‘Daylight Tripper’ which brings us a few steps into the daylight with its deep acidic sound that will keep you moving.
Flip it over to side b and we have upcoming talent ‘David Agrella’ from London who surpasses himself with his brilliant acidic track ‘Machinery.’ Finally, and definitely one to watch, is the incredible Swiss acid don, ‘DJ Emotion’ with an extract from one of his endless magical jams. Incredible stuff all round, you need this in your life and on your turntable!

Half Grand Records’ second release makes it more clear that their target is squarely between the dancefloor and headphones. This unpredictable playlist spans genres, from Golden Science’s buzzy boom bap to Jon Doppler’s sub shaking hardcore, with layers of analog goodness that seem to glow with the first days of rave. Electronic music veteran Proswell contributes a real viber, replete with growling basslines and bells.
