Lis Sarroca brings us the second edition of our 10 inch series: a house cut for all hours, complete with an acidic remix from Swedish don, MLiR. The title track gets Ghost House off to an energetic, skippy start before 'Deux' takes things deeper, adding tribal drums for extra movement, and 'NSCDS' brings things to an italo-inflected close.

The third edition in the Rendr vinyl catalogue, A collection of pristine elements and soul are the life blood of this record.

Welcoming the super talented, Elrow’s own De La Swing to the imprint along with his eclectic taste for rhythm, which he caress's into each of the originals. Three finely produced tracks with rolling grooves and warm inviting vocals that emit the energy to make you move to the beat under your own free will.

Sidney Charles steps up for remix duties and injects his signature swing to the original. Carrying forward the essence of passion and deepness of 'Astro Girl' but adding even more punch and electricity to make this track perfect for any DJ’s library.

Hot on the heels of “Flesh Is A Prison” - the quirky, electronic wonderland he contributed to Cocoon’s phenomenal S compilation - the multi-talented Neil Landstrumm consolidates his position on the label roster with a debut 3-track EP that channels the uncompromising spirit of seminal UK labels like Network, Warp and Vinyl Solution.

It’s clear from the first few seconds of “Sun Universe” that we‘re being transported back to 90‘s UK rave culture at a point where rave, jungle and house were mutating into speed garage. Ruffness abounds as stuttering snare rolls accompany the rude boy bass, ragga samples and classic ‘hoover’ synth riff, while peripheral sounds circle the groove adding a contemporary twist. Staying true to the times, the arrangement plays it straight, alternating between two distinct structures - one labelled ‘jump up’ and the other ‘spread out’!

These timely juxtapositions of mood alone mean the track will blow up on any dance floor.

“Purple” continues in a similar vein, with a phat, warping bass line underpinning the blunted beats and dusty bleeps. Landstrumm rides the mix in classic old school style, cutting up the linear arrangement with sudden unexpected deviations, alternative rhythms and layered melodies that lend a hidden complexity to the relentless groove.

There’s a different energy at work here, one that flies in the face of certain overcooked, modern production techniques, finding more in common with a raw, vintage Carl Cox three deck mix tape, circa 1989.

To round things off, “Catnatized” drops the tempo for a slab of grimy, acid funk that recalls the early excursions of Sheffield’s electronic pioneers, with a hint of embryonic Amsterdam House thrown in for good measure. Once again the bass line grabs the headlines, rasping and morphing in its own peculiar language while twisted vocals tease the dance floor with the logic of the absurd.

It’s another refreshingly unique statement from Neil Landstrumm, rounding off a ‘must have’ EP that fits perfectly with the Cocoon ethos of championing the presence of the past.

A1. & A2. Cutting edge London based DJ producer "Duel" launches his Ibadan Records debut with super track "Zed". In the studio Duel hooks up with his comrade "Dos" and execute their production skills and in addition Jerome Sydenham enters the Frey to get down on the mix. B1. Jerome Sydenham enters the deep Techno realm in true Vanguard style unleashing "Dogon". Sparse vocals and tinges of Acid and fat kicks shape this underground piece and put it right in the pocket.
B2. "Mirror Lines" is a beautifully crafted contempo Deep House track effortlessly combining a spirit of happiness with energetic resolve. This New York meets Detroit flavor is the brainchild of Jerome Sydenham and Amsterdam Techno/House superstar Shindoe, who is also making her Ibadan Records debut. Enjoy!

The always tasteful Half Baked crew looks to one of their own for this fresh slice of delicious minimal. Sam Bangura was a new young resident for the party back in 2018 and since then has really honed his own sound. It's laid bare here across four fine cuts, with opener 'Range Finder' serving up bristling drum machine grooves and cheeky basslines overlaid with cosmic chords. 'Axel's Limp' is a brilliantly vibrant melodic overload with scintillating drums and plenty of neon colours.

'Bugbear' gets more gritty with a standout bassline powering forwards rugged tech house and 'How Are U Feeling?' then gets spaced out and slick.

A stalwart in the true sense of the word (as well as being one of the nicest people you could hope to meet on a night out), Al Bradley has been obsessed with House Music ever since a trip to the now legendary Hacienda night club in Manchester during the summer of 1989. It’s an obsession that’s taken him down a long and winding road leading to 18 years and counting as a label boss, featuring on over 100 releases with either original or remix productions as well as celebrated residencies for powerhouses like Fabric London, Bugged Out Manchester and Pioneer DJ Radio whilst also making sure to still kick it with the cool kids at spots like Stereosleaze also in London and Lip Service and Deadbeat Disco in his new adopted hometown of Leeds.

Perspective 006 comes in the form of a 5-track collaboration EP from two Leeds-based artists; label owner Kepler, and Wickham.

Synthetic Gold returns with four gems from Russian producer Lazzich, notable for his deep and atmospheric minimal techno - a popular artist in Moscow's underground techno scene during the early 2000s and released mainly between 2005 and 2010 by Russian label 'Frament', but also notably by 'Sinergy Networks' and 'Pro-Tez', before the artist's death in 2014. The EP includes one rare collaboration with Maxim Said in the production duo named oh.u.ah. All never before available on vinyl, now presented in natural cardboard sleeves.

Modd finally arrives on the label after swinging by on last year's Summer sampler.

Four beautiful compositions come together in harmony. Beautiful music for sure but it's the lead track that you'll most likely be hearing across numerous continents this summertime.

The elusive SW. returns to Avenue 66 with okALGORYTHM. His third LP for the label is a semi-opaque wandering through the shadowy byways of memory, driven by tough-yet-supple production and his unmistakable, unerringly original voice. Inspired by all night electronic radio shows of the '90s, okALGORYTHM pulses with rich imagination and a sense of purposeful meandering. Speaking in cryptic fragments, the artist hints at elusive reminiscences "back then on the autobahn, to Berlin, with friends" while also noting that some recollections are "of things that didn't happen that way."

To this end, the album drifts from the knotty synth spirals of opener "WHAtADAY" through the tense, technoid tropics of "stepCLASSixMOtor," the brightly melancholic Larry Heard-isms of "TROPyCALLhytsrIA" to the stately skronk of closer "What endingENDs." The rhythmic undergirding never lets up, suggesting a limitless night drive tinted in deep greens and refracted reds. Each of the album's ten tracks comes alive with warm, analog finesse and a palpable atmosphere, though they play out by turns urgent or unhurried, coaxing or inscrutable. Yet throughout, there's a consistently hypnotic quality which draws the listener deeper into the album's unique balancing act.

If listeners are trained to expect throwback anthems every time the '90s are referenced, here they might find a more apt touchstone in the wilder, left-of-center corners of Chicago's foundational epoch. Throughout the album, the spirit of jacking house is absorbed, metabolized and transmuted. Drawing on lineages of taut, nervy synth-and-drum machine workouts, SW. manipulates his hardware with the delicate, considered touch of a painter. Perhaps the memory that lingers longest from that bygone era is the sense of profound possibility that dawns before forms become rigidly calificed and commodified. Either way, adventurous listeners will find that okALGORYTHM blooms with a uniquely affecting grace and SW.'s inimitably obscure loveliness, infused with a somber glow and marked by shimmering, untraceable contours.

Moon Harbour marks its historic 20th anniversary with a 10-track compilation of all new music. It features old friends like Marlow and Luna City Express, icons like Steve Bug and Butchand new
signings like Black Circle, so it is a fine representation of the label's famous sound.

Matthias Tanzmann founded Moon Harbour in 2000, and since then it has been at the forefront of the tech house scene. Even in the face of the major shift from vinyl to digital, a distributor going bankrupt
and the coronavirus pandemic, careful A&R and Matthias's own productions have ensured the label has remained utterly relevant. The Leipzig label has released countless EPs, LPs and compilations
and hosted label showcases all over the world. It has nurtured the careers of artists like Sable Sheep and Ekkohaus and has given a vital platform to new stars like Miane, Detlef and many more.

"Evolution is a natural process and important to artists as well as to labels," explains Matthias. "Music is always redefined and subject to trends. New generations of musicians want to create their own
identities through their sound. As a label, we listen to a lot of new music and try to stay open-minded within our own aesthetic range."
After a year of re-releasing classics from the label's back catalogue, the 20 Years of Moon Harbour compilation is all about fresh and exclusive music. It kicks off with Andrea Oliva's 'Return To The
Dancefloor,' a bumping cut driven by naughty bass before raw percussive energy from ANEK and tense cosmic melody Black Circle. Butch layers up tribal grooves and exotic vocals, then Luna City
Express mark the mid-point with the steamy house of 'Mami Wata' featuring Sunru's soulful vocals.

Marlow throws it back with some old school piano energy on 'Corktown,' Matthias nails a perfectly slinky tech house groove on 'Binford' and Ninetoes' 'Polanco Hills' ups the pace and drives forwards.

Closing out is the punchy and stripped back house of Steve Bug's 'Going Up' and Sven Tasnadi's loopy and hypnotic 'Cuckoo.'

Dominik Eulberg, of Traumschallplatten, Cocoon and Kompakt notoriety, presents the next installment of the Hertzblut Recordings EP series in the form of 'Backslash'. The EP opens with 'Opel Tantra', a delectable example of a living, breathing techno orchestra in full effect. B-side 'Noch Ein Bass im Ärmel' sees plucked strings and key stabs pick out an alluring groove, as distant chimes twinkle evoking the enchanted forest ever-present in Eulberg's thoughts.

Our first vinyl release of 2023 sees two classic tracks from Groove Park take centre stage. Hit The Bang and Carrousel first came to the fore in 1995 as separate releases and, after a few solid remixes, our Bonzai Classics imprint resurrected both tracks along with top-notch remixes in 2002. 21 years later we bring to you the original versions of both tracks on glorious 12” vinyl. André Strässer and Sharam Jey aka Sharam Nickjey Khososi make up the dynamic duo that is Groove Park. They were also the brains behind massive projects such as 16C+, Three n One and Johnny Shaker to name just a few. The tracks found a unique place in clubland, having a diverse structure that spanned genres flawlessly. The A side features Hit The Bang with its hybrid progressive/techno flow. The relentless bass groove, distinct voices and stabbing synths gave rise to a powerful, energetic and mesmerizing moment that lives on. On the flip, Carrousel takes up the B1 slot opening with that infectious woodblock sequence alongside pumping kick drums. A groovy bassline joins the party as old skool pianos come through. The track reels us in with many twists and turns, from wide, epic progressive parts to energetic trance, all wrapped up in a warm, nostalgic glow. Ostgut Ton reissues Vier of Zehn with original tracks by Nick Höppner and Virginia as well as Matthew Styles remixing Dinky.
2015 marked Ostgut Ton's ten-year anniversary, celebrated with an extensive 30 track compilation release, titled Ostgut Ton Zehn, spread out over ten 12 vinyl records housed inside a limited box set. This sampler sold out in no time, which is why Ostgut Ton is re-issuing these ten 12"es individually in 2016.
While Gregory Myrgiotis' artwork may look as if it's a rather dark record music-wise, the opposite is true: Zehn Vier comes with three uplifting House tracks. While the CD version of Zehn features the original Dinky production, this 12 comes with Matthew Styles' seven-minute Dub mix, the most notable difference being the lack of vocals as well as Styles' focus on synth pads and piano melodies - Planes' takes a completely new route with this instrumental version. We all have our crosses to bear, and Nick Höppner carries a double pack: His percussion-heavy contribution is in the vein of his critically acclaimed album Folk (Ostgut Ton, 2015). A different tone and mood is being set by Virginia, whose soulful vocals correspond nicely with the Electro-influenced, percussive and dreamy vibe of Never Underestimate' - which also serves as an outlook to her upcoming album, out on Ostgut Ton in Spring 2016.

After 20 years - Multiplex is finally back! The record label originally put out 26 vinyl releases and 6 CD albums between 1995 and - 98. Behind the label reboot is the original founder Steen "Kong" Mogensen and fellow Copenhagen DJ and promoter Daniel Kaarill.
The first of a string of new releases is a reissue with a twist. The two track EP picks up where we left off in 1998, with catalogue number MUPL 026 and a couple of much sort after tracks. Both have been pulled from the original DAT tapes and been given a fresh workout by the artists.

First up we have Mark Broom's iconic 1997 remix of the Morgan Geist track Pushed from the EP of the same name. This is a hypnotic, deep techno track and for many a favorite in those melancholic moments. Muzik magazine praised it as a 97 essential.
On the flip side is Push Me which Cai Bojsen-Møller and Kong sent out as the fourth Multiplex on blue vinyl in 1995. They were originally asked to do a remix of Danish jazz singer Caroline Henderson, but when she didn't like her contribution being cut down to two words, they went ahead and released it under the moniker CH Connection.

Long revered US house label Underground Quality does exactly what it should give its name. The label run by Jus-Ed has rarely put a foot wrong and this new limited 12" from Danielle Arielli is another smoky outing for heady back rooms and cosy basement spaces. 'Love Child' opens with old school vocal rapture over dusty analogue drum work and will turn any dancefloor into a cauldron of intensity.

'That House Jam' (feat Sofie Jackson) is another jacking party jam and 'Uno, Dos, Tres!' then brings some turbo charged house with old school stabs before 'All Night Long' brings steamy and emotive vocals. A superb EP that introduces a hot new talent.

Banoffee Pies RecordsBlack Label Series continues with a special solo EP from label favourite Len Lewis who steps up with a selection of 4 previously unreleased productions from the mid 2000's. Already a regular on the infamous UK Tech House Label Swag Records, and a deep back catalogue of trusted DJ gems spanning back to the 90's, we were very excited to welcome him on board the label.

The A side offers two Sub heavy Breakbeat weapons with "Get On It" and a jump into the Sith world with "Darkside". The B side dips back into a 4x4 format with the swirling dance floor rhythm of "Tik Tok" and a playful and laid back house melody in "Projection Deep Dub", a track once approved by and handed to a member of the boy band Blue for a spin on Kiss 100. Apollo proudly presents a full release of the stunning debut album released by SW. SW's lush sound design and hypnotic arrangements nestles snugly alongside the classic 90's Apollo releases of Biosphere and Robert Leiner in all their balmy glory.
Originally issued on vinyl only via SW's own SUED imprint, this Apollo re-release represents something of a coup in that it's the first of the label's music to ever be presented digitally.
As a label, SUED has formed a reputation for releasing some of the most vital and sought after contemporary dance-floor vinyl, from both SW and SVN, as well as collaborations and comradeship with other analogue obsessed auteurs such as Dynamo Dreesen (who teams up with SVN as Dresvn), DJ Sotofett, DJ Fett Burger, PG Sounds and Club No-No, AKA Snorre Magnar Solberg.Ensconced in his studio in South West Germany, SW creates in isolation, exploring textures, dreamy melodies and mesmeric grooves within laid back 4/4 structures. 'The Album' was the first time anyone had experienced his music over a long player format and allowed SW to delve deeper into his influences. In addition to the aforementioned sublime electronica 'The Album' also takes its cues from the iconic house and techno of the mid / late 90s - SW manages to fuse these influences together to create a beguiling, modern take on classic sounds and rhythms that remains thrillingly unique and elusive. Resident Advisor bestowed a rare 4.5 out of 5 on the record, describing it as 'a lesson in how to put together a dance music album' Despite his comfort residing in the shadows, SW's stunning debut album richly deserves the exposure that this broader release on Apollo should rightfully bestow.

Real name Fernando Cappelletti, the Rosario native's early releases arrived on AirDrop Records, followed by appearances on Esperanza before launching

Savor Music alongside Jorge Savoretti in 2011. Since then the label has hosted the likes of Felipe Valenzuela, Martinez, Kastil, Marcman and Franco Cinelli whilst garnering a reputation as one of Argentina's key purveyors of house and techno.


The album's subterranean aesthetics are present from the beginning, with mesmerising tape echoes in 'The Real', deep pads in 'Trb' and the rhythmic energy of 'Rainforest'. 'Geibi' then demonstrates intricate pops and glitches before 'In Amour' settles for a compelling groove. 'Flavor' is then a percussive number with a hypnotizing appeal until 'Faiser' concludes the album with a punchy, dancefloor driven workout.

Guber is a blue-collar bass music producer from Paris. While you may think he’s newcomer in the local electronic scene, he has already released several records from Paris-based Beat X Changers, Bad Winners Records labels as well as several self-releases that has been heard all around Europe. His influences come from the 90’ metal scene to the UK Bass 2010 decade bangers, both following common paths of massive sub-frequencies shocks and obsessional drum loop. When Guber is self-releasing, his visual identity is heavily influenced by asset plants & machinery from the Energy Industry and enable to finally produce overall tracks with a universe deeply reflecting his own day-to-day work environment.

Wrong Ibiza EP follows 2 opposite dynamics from mental endothermic deployments to spontaneous exothermic loop deliveries. One face that is more uncertain, with bass lines densely packed with Brazilian-influenced drums, while the other is composed with tech-house cuts dimensioned and played around different rhythms and tempos. Guber shows in 'Wrong Ibiza' he is a savant in creating an engaging tapestry of sample loops, a sonic magic carpet ride of forgotten genres, a ride that does not lean on nostalgia to create magic but utilizing his uncompromising ears to weaves and waves decades of dance music sounds into a new end-product for the here and now.

The final remix from Ploy is overarching and consolidates the whole EP around sharp resequenced loops based on the main sample cuts. Diligent 148 bpm-remix, the track focuses on the development of hard cut vocals from the original mix, mechanically deployed among muddy atmospheric breaks. Side elements moving forward enhance the whole structure to deliver pure mental vibe construction.

Forward to Bonuz Me (the name gives it away) as a reminder of his popularity with the DJ guild and a piece of slam-dance. BOO MOONMAN returns with more underground heat, featuring 4 new tracks from label head BOO WILLIAMS. "WHIP LASH" does exactly what it says on the tin. A little bit harder than BOO's last outing, this limited hand-stamped 12" is sure to leave the jackers with a sore neck in the morning.

Unwashed acid house and disco through a broken South London filter - from "70s New York bathhouses to "80s Chicago nightclubs via the Brixton Windmill. Bring a towel. Decius are brothers Liam and Luke May, founders of Trashmouth Records, together with Quinn Whalley (Paranoid London/Warmduscher) and Fat White Family frontman Lias Saoudi. Those with an ear to the ground will have picked up on a string of self-released 12"s over the last few years, supported by the likes of Daniel Avery, Honey Dijon, Ivan Smagghe, Mike Servito, 2 Many DJs, Moxie and Erol Alkan. Decius Vol. I is a lean entry point to their sordid world - dark, uncut, unrefined and unrepentant.

For its third installment, Luminære is proud to introduce one of its own. Long time friend of label’s boss Daïf, frenchman Laurent is in charge for this release, delivering his debut EP “What goes on inside”.


Residing in Tokyo, Laurent is a familiar face in the city’s underground techno scene where he seeks inspiration among the many talented DJs and producers the city hosts. LUMI03 is an introduction to his musical sensitivity, shaping his many influences into something personal.


The EP starts with Target Locked, an energizing 4/4 banger filled with stabbing arpeggiators merging into a powerful rumble. A2 follows with Synapses Overload which develops a dark, eerie atmosphere punctuated by high pitched synth to create a mesmerizing track


B side starts off with One More, probably the most dancefloor oriented track of the four, with robotic synths building up an engaging melody over a warm bass line. Finally, B2 features the more minimalist Won’t you listen. Its groovy drums and powerful bass combined with anxious pads and synths create an intoxicating melody.

After a sell-out EP by Rahaan in the spring, Dublin label Fatty Fatty Phonographics returns to the home of house with two murky 21st Century excursions aimed straight at dark'n'sweaty dancefloors.

Rahaan flips the script here with 'Secondo Coro Della Lavendie', a propulsive update of Roberto Di Simone's 1976 modern opera piece of the same name.
Over the years it's become a cult club hit in Chicago, Detroit and Montreal and found it's way into the record bags of the likes of Brennan Green.
The title translates as 'The Song Of The Working Girls' and it sounds like it, a hipshakin', Afro-delic chant married to a relentless b-line and wired Chi-Town electronics.

On the flip-side comes DJ Darryn Jones, yet another Chicago native with a bottomless record collection and the production chops to know what to do with it.
'Mouth Passion' weaves elements of The Flirt's 'Passion' in and out of another ruff track of rumbling percussion,raw bass and spooky sound effects and comes out right on top, transporting you down into a darkened basement with your eyes closed and your disco fist in the air!

What can be more pleasant than the release of another record on YOI's birthday! Especially when this record brings together so many great musicians and so many incredibly cool vibes!

This time the music on the record covers five countries at once - the Netherlands, Italy, England, France and Mexico! An exciting journey around the world awaits us, and since we can't do it physically right now, let the music help us do it!

The journey YOIONWAXOO5 starts in the Netherlands, where very talented lad Kreech grabs us and takes us further and higher with his Wurlwind. Then back there in the Netherlands, but with Italian character and charisma, another young and very talented musician, Tommaso Pizzelli, takes us with him, giving our journey a funky fun with Funkytarro. On side B, we'll move to England, where another powerful artist, Tom Spark, is already waiting for us to reveal the power and meaning of the journey we're taking, putting us face to face with Padre. And after that, we find ourselves on two continents at once with two great musicians Jizz from Mexico and Thurman from France, who teamed up to show us the immense and timeless Time Division.

All this journey is accompanied by YOI's signature classic animated artwork, hand-drawn by label boss Watsche, which everyone is obliged to see in person, at the moment when the record is spinning and the music is playing. WetYourSelf! recordings are back with a vinyl only limited series of releases after a short break.

The first release in the series comes from Jacob Husley the co-owner and resident of WetYourSelf! the weekly Sunday night party in fabric. The remixes comes from fellow Dane S.A.M (Samuel Andre Madsen) and Romanian Dubsons.

The S.A.M Reshape have been heavily played by Raresh for the past year, with many DJ's eagerly awaiting the release..

Lone and KETTAMA met at Glastonbury festival last year after being booked together for a B2B DJ set.
Although they had never DJ'ed together before their styles complimented each other perfectly and it was only natural that they get in the studio together.

The EP features one collaborative track and an original each from both artists but they way the tracks fit together you could be forgiven for thinking the whole EP was collaborative.

We know at R&S that Lone is capable of creating many different feelings with his music, working alongside KETTAMA seems to have pushed the euphoric, endorphin heightening 4/4 feels to the forefront. In turn KETTAMA reaches for some some synth lines that could have come straight from the Lone playbook. The influence of each artist on the other is plain to see and the results are three killer club tracks that people are going to be hard pushed to pick a favourite from.

“The first time me and Evan met in person was literally 15 minutes before our set together at Glastonbury last year. The set felt so natural and fun - it was clear to me we had the same ear for a vibe then and there - hearing his music for the first time gave me that buzz as well - effortlessly banging and euphoric so it felt right to carry that feeling over for this project. We didn’t need to talk too much or over analyse what we were doing, it was just about catching that vibe that I think connects our solo music so strongly. Evan is a beast producer, his music is some of the most exciting club music out there so it was a total honour to collaborate on this EP - and for it to land on R&S is a huge deal for the both of us… This project is about having fun, catching a vibe - total escapism exactly what we need at this time.”

Momentaufnahmen is a new label run by German DJ/Producer Pascal Stürmer. The first release, a debut under the new moniker 'Active Nature', sets the tone for the upcoming releases with 4 tracks of deep and reduced techno.

It’s club ready and it’s large…

Infuse027 marks label head Enzo Siragusa's debut solo EP on the imprint. For the occasion, he finally releases 'Little Angel', a track close to his heart which was debuted on his BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix at the end of 2016.
Embellished with swinging drums, and gentle soaring pads, it's a feel-good masterstroke of Deep House. On the flip is Romania's Cristi Cons on remix duty, who keeps things deep but adds a subtle attitude that builds throughout, all while paying homage to the original.

Scottish DJ Ewan McVicar is tipped for big things, having found support in the likes of Annie Mac and Fatboy Slim. After a stellar year crowned with a release on the hallowed Nervous Records, he makes his debut on Shall Not Fade's "Basement Tracks" series with five explosive earworms.

Amnocairn EP collects the most classic sounds from the dancefloor and melts them together, styles blending throughout songs to keep listeners on their toes and dancing. The title track is a sweeping marriage of insistent house piano and washy dub techno synths, leading into the sugary, hardcore "1001 Freestyle" that calls back to early Lone tracks. Then one for the after hours crew, "Ha Mez", a syncopated 303 techno roller.

McVicar keeps the party atmosphere close across the B-side, flexing laser-cut synth arps with a dark, big-room edge on "Stu Boy", before crowning the EP with a gorgeous sun soaked party number "See U Thru My Eyes", jazzy inflected house with a 90s aesthetic. This EP has something for everyone, bringing together eclectic influences into a smooth festival-ready record.

Next up on Toolroom’s 4-track vinyl sampler series is a tasty collab from label founder, Mark Knight and dance music royalty, Armand van Helden, a fresh new edit of a revered club weapon from Julio Navas, Gustavo Bravetti and David Amo, Kiss FM regular, majestic and Sydney-native Alex Preston.

Up first label boss, Mark Knight enlists Grammy nominated Armand van Helden for their debut collaboration, 'The Music Began To Play'. Kicking off with a hard-hitting house groove and electrified bassline that drives the record, before dropping into the track's golden moment and sampling the 1979 classic disco cut 'I Don't Need No Music' by T.J.M; a gem of a record that encapsulates both Mark and Armand’s love for classic cuts.

Next up, a record that became a cult hit of the underground and one that defines the true sound of Toolroom's heritage, Julio Navas, Gustavo Bravetti and David Amo’s 'Raw'. Refreshed for 2022, we see one of France's hottest exports, Tony Romera, deliver a high energy, club focused remix of 'Raw', bringing the classic club record back to dancefloors and sound systems across the globe!

Up next is another heater from Majestic, who debuts on Toolroom with ‘Annie’. Recapping one of the hottest summers on record, Majestic embodies the Balearic, Ibizan heat, sampling Kid Creole & the Coconuts 1982 hit, 'Annie I’m Not Your Daddy', turning a slice of calypso / disco, into a club ready record for the dancefloor. From the brass melody to the hooky guitar riff, majestic lays down his signature style with a Groove Armada-esque vibe throughout.

Rounding things off is label favourite, Alex Preston with his unique blend of 4 to the floor dance music and live funk guitar riffs that have swept through clubs, moving feet, and bringing those feel-good vibes. Ticking all the right boxes on this one, 'Hunching' kicks off with its infectious groove and bassline, throwing in some lush strings, guitar flits and an 80's inspired saxophone break that adds some serious flavour to the record.

It's been over 10 years since the release of Gui Boratto's breakthrough full length debut 'Chromophobia'. As to what its title suggests, he shook up the techno game with a contrast of lushly coloured minimal grooves and melody, whilst many will recall that the album included the highlight single Beautiful Life' which became a dance floor anthem for that era. Four albums in and countless EPs and remixes under his belt, the Brazilian producer's unique savoir-faire in carving out a functional album out of diversely routed singles and features is back at it on his fifth studio LP, 'Pentagram'. Here Gui Boratto lays down a nuanced 12-track narrative that reinvigorates his signature sound into a refreshingly different perspective that feels all too familiar - including the return of Beautiful Life' vocalist (and Gui Boratto's wife) Luciana Villanova on the single "Overload".

Through his signature kaleidoscopic approach, Boratto delivers an album built as a far-reaching hub-and-spoke system, broadly inclusive as can be. From the opening cut, 'The Walker' - hot on the trail of Tears For Fears 'Elemental' (one of Boratto's "favourite 80's bands") - to the hi-NRG euphoria of 'Forgotten' and its pounding tech alter ego 'Forgive Me'. "I was going into 2 different directions", Boratto says, "the typical indie- electronic-rock' Boratto kind of production like It's Majik' or Like You' and a much more techno approach." He goes on, "I decided to split them into two twin sister songs. When I play live I always put these two songs together."

The Brazilian Producer further embraces the pop-friendly essence of his past work on tracks like 'The Phoenix', featuring vocalist Nathan Berger, and 'Overload', both melding acidulous synthlines with laser-precise breaks, vox hooks and drops calibrated for extended radio and club use, although sieved through his distinctive rainbow-hued musical prism. For the symbolists out there, the album's pared-down closer '618' duration accidentally happens to equate the proportions of the said pentagram. "Coincidence" Boratto questions, and capsulises, "not so ufanista and supporter of Brazilian neo-concretism, but I guess the brazilian sculptor Lygia Clark also inspired me a lot. Not the meaning of her sculptures, but the shape of the hinge of most of her work. I've wanted to transmit the scientific pentagram's point of view. It's not a religious kind of thing."

Whereas 'Spur' (a field-tested 808 and 909-heavy "purist track", "very, very old school" Boratto insists) and 'Alcazar' are sheer smooth-edged four-to- the-floor epics, the album also shares its lot of startling moments, such as with the John Barry'esque 'Scene 2' (with a hint of Amon Tobin, 'Easy Muffin' style, throw in) and its refined string-laden buildup, 100% fitted for a 007 opening credit sequence, or with 'Hallucination' (feat B.T.) and the further James Holden-ish title-track 'Pentagram' (think 'The Idiots Are Winning'), "one of those exercises I did when I got my Buchla modular synth" Boratto analyses, "I think I've used more then 30 different snares, with different delays and reverbs. The whole song is alive". And so is 'Pentagram' in its entirety: alive and definitely just as manifold and hopeful as its architectonics are the stuff of science and dreams all at once.
