This year we have reached our long term goal as a label which was to expand our releases into the wax department. We feel like we've done a good job bringing upcoming and original local talent to the surface so far and it is only fitting that our first vinyl release is done by the Icelandic duo David & Hjalti. The duo has been busy with the production since their arrival from Manchester and have played a number of great live sets underlining their skills as producers. We feel that this release is the high standard we set ourselves before going vinyl and that this is just a small first step in a fruitful beginning for the producers David & Hjalti.

For the fourth Outplay vinyl release we welcome Laurence Guy to the family and have Brame & Hamo on remix duties.
It's paired with two originals by Outplay's own Junktion and Daniel Leseman.Laurence delivers a wonderful synth driven opener with 'Strings Attached. While Junktion brings his familiar grooves with the jazzy 'Breakfast at Midnight', Brame & Hamo flip it into a dubby stomper to heat up the floors.Daniel Leseman gets to round off the EP with his warm and melodic 'On My Mind'.

4 tracks of stunning french disco in a wide range of styles : from 80s afrobeat to underground canadian cosmic groove, here is another bullet from the parisian gang! A1/ Guehi Jean Pantalon Craqué Guéhi Jean is a key figure of Ivorian music and many of his records mixing funk, jazz and afrobeat are sought after nowadays. Having left Africa in order to make it in France, he recorded this digital afrobeat hit in Paris, then went back to his native country where he died in 2012. Despite his talent, Guéhi Jean didn't get the recognition he deserved. A2/ Michel Conte & Cie Magoshan A disco anthem composed for Quebec cultists wearing flares, or the main theme from an obscure series Anyway it is time to acclaim Magoshan's pulsing come back on the dancefloo ! B1/ Jean-Michel Gascuel Dominus This French composer who collaborated with Pierre Schaeffer was also a great lyricist working for the likes of Vivian Vee or Suzy Andrews, and a fashion designer. With its Latin touch, this track is a little UFO standing out of the rest of his French productions, so let us be blessed by Dominus Domine Dominarum. B2/Michel Robidoux les Planètes This track by composer Michel Robidoux featured on a kidisk with a book called Visitons les Planètes avec Goldorak' and was released in Canada in 1980. This incredible space jam was chosen as a macaroon for this new EP - our tribute to an amazing composer who wrote more than 325 songs and even collaborated with Leonard Cohen.

Fresh from an in-demand EP release on Osunlade's 'Yoruba' label, Tenderlonious is back on his own 22a label, focusing once again on the outer reaches of the club. Opening with the deep, low-swinging, technosoul of 'All Your Way' (featuring a rare Tenderlonious vocal) the mood then switches on 'Bob's Riddim' with lean, broken-beats rumbling beneath jazzy, moog tones.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: WHILE PATROLING THE FORBID-DEN FOREST LATE LAST NIGHT, WE CAPTURED A HUMAN-LIKE LIFEFORM THAT WE BELIEVE MAY BE EXTRA-TERRESTRIIAL IN ORIGIN. THE CREATURE, WHO WAS ABLE TO CONVERSE IN BOTH DUTCH AND ENGLISH, TOLD US HIS NAME WAS DARLING'. WHEN WE DISCOVERED HIM, HE WAS CLEARLY DISORIENTED AND CHANTING THE LETTERS J', P' AND S'.
IN HIS POSSESSIONS WE DISCOVERED A PLASTIC BOX IN-SCRIBED WITH THE ABOVE INITIALS AND A FLAT BLACK DISC STAMPED WITH THE CODE ST005. UNDER INTERROGATION, THE SUBJECT TOLD US THAT THE BOX WAS A DRUM MACHINE'. IT HAD BEEN GIFTED TO HIM BY HIS GRANDFATHER, WHO WENT BY THE NAME JOOP'. HE ADDED THAT MUSIC CREATED USING THIS DEVICE HAD BEEN ETCHED INTO THE SURFACE OF THE BLACK DISC.
HAVING FOUND A SUITABLE MACHINE TO EXTRACT THE MUSIC FROM WITHIN THE GROOVES, WE WERE ASTONISHED BY WHAT WE HEARD. THERE WERE SIX COMPOSITIONS ON WHICH THE SUBJECT'S FAMILY DRUM MACHINE' WAS PROMINENTLY FEATURED, REPLICATING PROGRAMMED ELECTRONIC RHYTHMS THAT SOUNDED ALIEN IN ORIGIN.
THE WARM AND LOOSE FEEL OF THESE PERCUSSIVE ELEMENTS WAS FURTHER ENHANCED BY THE SUBJECT'S CHOICE OF ACCOMPANYING ELECTRONIC MUSICAL FEATURES. THESE FRE-QUENTLY CAUGHT OUR EAR AND ENHANCED OUR COLLECTIVE MOOD. THESE VARIOUSLY SOUNDED INTERGALACTIC, LOVED-UP, DREAMY, OTHERWORLDLY AND SOOTHING. ONE OF OUR COLLEAGUES, WITHIN EARSHOT, SPONTANEOUSLY STARTED DANCING.
WE HAVE KEPT THE SUBJECT UNDER OBSERVATION AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO UNLESS WE RECEIVE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CONTRARY. IT IS OUR BELIEF THAT THE MUSIC SHOULD BE MADE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC.

The second project from NYC label HOMAGE comes from little known French producer extraordinaire, Chevals - who until this point, has self-released only a handful of songs. His first full length EP contains four absolute stompers spanning disco, house, latin house, and afro house. The Labour of Love EP, if played, will result in an uncontrollable urge to party as hard as humanly possible. Enjoy.

* Japan native JUN KAMODA has been a long been a key creator, lending his hand to many segments of the local scene across the past 15 years. Following his last funk spirited release, 'Blind Disco', on BLACK ACRE, JUN KAMODA returns to the seminal Bristol imprint with a killer new EP, again ramping up the carnival vibes.
* KAMODA's latest offering, 'THE DISTORTED HAUNTED BALLROOM EP' offers three fresh tracks from the colourful artist - BODY & SOUL, ( ( (BYE) ) ) and DOPEY FORESTS - a tripped out, twisted journey. 'THE DISTORTED HAUNTED BALLROOM EP' drops 24th November 2017. A man of many talents, Jun has produced art under his Illreme moniker, as member of Hip Hop trio, Baleine 3000, and as cartoon illustrator (Usca.) His forays into music have lead to work with revered global labels, think Mister Saturday Night, Black Acre, Mall Grab's Steel City Dance Discs and more.
* Opener and lead track, BODY & SOUL is a raucous jam. Killer, frenzied percussion, short riffs and vibrant erratic trumpets fuse industrial elements with far-flung balearia, teasing between warehouse rave and rainforest ravine.
* Second track ( ( (BYE) ) ) is a hazy, hypnotic cut, BODY & SOUL's wild elements rolling into a tug of war between arcadian bleeps and lawless euphoria. DOPEY FORESTS offers up a less frantic but still slamming dance floor ready slice of dreamlike vocals paired with driving percussion. A mesmerising, final jaunt to round out 'THE DISTORTED HAUNTED BALLROOM EP' with an ethereal, spooky stomp.
* 2016 saw KAMODA garner global attention with 'The Clay EP' Dropping on revered NYC Imprint, Mister Saturday Night. That killer cut, Physical Graffiti, was a glimpse of what's to come. Affiliated with Berlin's Dirt Crew Recordings, Mall Grab's Steel City Dance Discs and Black Acre - Jun has caught the attention of the dance floor elite with his playful, yet experimental grooves. This release sees the return to BLACK ACRE, with 'THE DISTORTED HAUNTED BALLROOM EP' nodding towards his previous video-game soundtrack productions, while showcasing the club ready oddities with which he is synonymous - infectious and immaculately produced. Undeniably an ideal fit for forward-thinking Bristol based imprint, BLACK ACRE, who celebrate their decade in the game this year. Rejecting genre constraints, BLACK ACRE focuses on championing talented artists pushing boundaries - working with the likes of Romare, Clap! Clap! Rocks FOE, Connie Constance, Prayer and more across recent years.

Byron the Aquarius fires up the MPC for a journey into the stratosphere, bringing the heat for Ele Records 3rdedition with "Planet Rock", a jazz infected keyboard jam with chopped hip hop samples echoing into the cosmos.
Cozy Bear follows with "Nudi Riddim" a delectable mix
of African percussion, jazz samples and acidic basslines.
On the B side we find more hip hop infused methodology, with Glenn Davis digging into Salsoul's back catalogue with his huge summer anthem "Holdin On". Finally, Unknown Artist is back on Ele following on from the huge anthem Ru$h. This time it's back to the MPC with a Daft Punk style 90's disco banger "Fade (Never Know)".

Fashion Flesh is the solo-output moniker of John Talaga, based in Bay City, USA, whose music first came to our attention back in 2016 with the release of an excellent 7-inch on Detroit's Est. '83 Records. He should have been in the Radiophonic Workshop, but he was in the wrong place, wrong decade. Instead, 'Withdrawn' comes as his first full-length album and makes up for the perfect introduction to Talaga's synthesis of original and plasticized melodic collages, birthed from the guts of hand built exotic electronics and various audio devices — built from one's own design and heavily modified beyond audible recognition or return. From torn memories of pleasant dreams to plasticine free jazz sculptures, wavey electro cuts squealing like rubber tyres and pop hallucinations, Fashion Flesh highlights the beauty of confusion and anxiety throughout the breathing and illusive meanderings of his tape manipulations and hard copy cut-ups.

For the third set of Excursions, we're letting off some tasty Turkish flavours. Darkhouse Family presents 'An Ottoman Excursion'. Halal Cool J (aka Don Leisure of Darkhouse Family) has blessed us with four cheeky edits, crafted with care, and guaranteed to create dancefloor flames. A few choice selectors have been playing these for a while (such as Lefto and Gaslamp Killer, on Boiler Room), but this is the first time these tracks have been released into the public domain.
In Don's words: "I got into Turkish music around about 2006 when Egon (ex-Stones Throw) put out a Turkish Funk podcast showcasing artists like Baris Manco, Erkin Koray & Selda. The musical rabbit hole led me to discover re-releases on labels like Finders Keepers, and I've been hooked ever since. It's hard to find original pressings of Turkish music in the UK, so when my cousin landed a job in Istanbul, it was the perfect opportunity to make a bunch of trips there, armed with a portable turntable, hunting for dusty records. I made these tracks a few years ago now, but they've found a perfect home now with Excursions."
For 'An Ottoman Excursion' we head straight in with the neck-snapping drums and epic riffs of 'Visne Nektari', before the synth-led 'Derbent's Groove' breezes triumphantly into motion. For the flip, we nicely drop the pace a little to do the 'Turkish Duck Walk', before the humidity of the 'Fernebache Heat' raises up the tempo to close out the set. 4 chops. 8 minutes of Turkish Psych-Funk vibes. 45rpm 7" vinyl pressure. Limited copies only. No sleeping.

The Activ-Analog collective return under this name for the first time in 10 years with a blistering new EP on Lisbon's Assemble Music. Taken from group live jams which are mixed down and tweaked on the fly, these four tracks recall the explosive simplicity of Daniel Bell's output on Accelerate, both A-side tracks all whacked-out acid and basslines cut through by razor sharp hats and claps. The B-side sees the addition of the same woozy pads that defined their venerated Night Shift EPs from the late 90s, taking the mood far into the afterhours. Hard but with a light touch, funky and clean - in one word, irresistible.

His first 2 7" releases have been 2 of the hottest records in the modern funk/disco genre. Limited! Full Cover 180 Gr. Vinyl. Nachtbraker is back on Heist after his 2013 Gute Laune EP with another set of his dreamy laid back sound filled with lovely textures, rolling synths and always interesting and evolving arrangements. Whether it's 'Dark Roast' (bonus points for the vocal hihats and ooooh that bassline), the haunting electronics meet sugar sweets pads on 'Gurl', the triplet marching band hihats on 'Le troubadour' or the insane amount of elements working together on 'You're out of your element', it's all equally deep, energetic and extremely well though of. Sincerely yours, Lars & Maarten Vital sales points: - After the debut on HEIST last year with his Gute Laune' EP Nachtbraker had great follow ups on Dirt Crew Recordings and Hudd Traxx. - His remix on The Roundup Part1 for Max Graef & Andy Hart's Jungle' was one of the highlights of the compilation. - Later this year he will also release a new EP on Dirt Crew recordings.

Formed in Bermuda in 1968, The Invaders are responsible for what is arguably the most sought after piece of Island Funk in history, their lone long player, 1970s Spacing Out. Full of funky breaks, Meters-esque guitar work, and tripped out horn lines, Spacing Out is not simply collectible because of its exotic locale, it is a stone funk classic that holds its own against such luminaries of the genre as The Meters, The JBs, and the Nite-Liters. An absolutely essential piece of funk history available again on LP, and this version won't cost you a month's rent to own.

Hailing from St Petersburg in Russia, Kito Jempere has been recognised by his peers and a wider global audience thanks to an impeccable serie of releases in recent years.
It is no surprise neither that Dairmount spotted him already in 2013 with his Confusion EP on Jimpster's Freerange, followed by his Objects album on his own Fata Morgana imprint & solid releases last year on Dirt Crew & Let's Play House.
His tracks have been remixed by luminaries as Nachtbraker, Jacob Korn, Roberto Rodriguez, HNNY, Juju & Jordash, OOFT or Ruf Dug... Kito & me met in Montenegro last summer at the amazing Southern Soul Festival through our friends Eddy Ramich & Lay-Far. We both played as part of the 4 days event & developed a deeper relationship.
Besides our obvious common musical grounds, we both became fathers nearly at the same time, him of Theo, me of Thea.
This became our red line in our exchanges remembers Phil with a grin on the face. Following his new fatherhood and an important HD crash which led to the loss of many musical works, Kito came back from Montenegro and sat down in his studio, starting from scratch, highly inspired. The 2 tracks you hear today are the results of these sessions of total freedom without prepared sound banks or samples. Kito & Phil took the time last autumn to let the tracks breathe and exchanged very naturally on their arrangements & mixdowns, till Kito finalised them in the silent snowy landscapes of the Russian country side in december.

Dortmund based producer ''Mr. Fries'' comes up with a soul'ed out 4-track EP for the Soul Notes imprint (11th installment in the main series).
''Norightnowrong'' is a cut that thrives through the use of the catchy vocal cut and the Rhodes that come in on various occasions.
For the A2 ''Datkoollook'' which features fellow North Rhine - Westphalia artist ''Kandinsky''. This track is a more uptempo disco tainted club track which showcases a great guitar solo.
On the B1 we find ''Change''. This is a thrilling piece of work with a some short chords that cut throughout and nicely fitting vocal cuts.
Cologne based Soul Notes usual ''Adryiano'' comes up with a very club oriented version of ''Norightnowrong'' in his signature style.

Following up right after its first vinyl release, Todh Teri returns with Volume 2. Todh Teri's retrospective continues to reimagine the golden era of Indian cinema. Sampadan chaar revisits a Bollywood ballad with a light breeze of acid thrown on. Next up, a homage to a legendary Indian producer, with a retouch to his classic 1980's tune. The final edit on the EP takes on a sensuous super hit from a Pakistani-born disco queen. Giving it a little soul, and a lot of groove. Making this a significant release that proves the artist will continue to produce top notch reworks. Once again Todh Teri recreates memories of the legacy Indian music directors & singers left behind. A tribute that's fresh & definitive. In the past, Todh Teri has brought this style of music to Berlin's well known night life like Voll Schoen & Wilde Renate.

If one looks at the output of Los Angeles based artist Mat/Matix , he d find that this quite illusive figure from the LA scene of contemporary electronic funk has quite some good tracks in his compact repertoire. This package (which contains a version from fellow West Coast artist Moon B) is dripping with heart wrenching synth soars and compact drum works that are built with the fierceness that is so significant for both the label and the artist.

Freaked in Private even though it s an EP feels more like a mini album of some sort. The opening track City Chiller is a slap bass heavy venture into G funk tainted dance music that perfectly utilizes an uplifting intermezzo, before heading into it s chorus which is highlighted by loosely played synth notes and some interesting vocal shots that are so significant for LA music from by gone days. The version by fellow funketeer Moon B goes a different route. The slap bass has been altered into a deep and sophisticated bass pattern which acts as the spine of the version. The drums are somewhat more outlandish, and the pad that floats on top works perfectly with the glow of the synths.

Hold it down is a disco ish track that utilizes very smooth and soul touching elements that are built around various piano variations and a beautiful break with percussion in the fashion of Shuggie Otis Aht uh mi Hed .
Central Bank is keeping up the pace with a very hazy atmosphere and amazing vocals which ooze throughout. Very musical and warm. 135th is a piano track that again strikes the right chord for mellow week-ends in a park. Wayactive is closing down this extended effort with euphoric synths and uplifting chords.

On this new EP, DJJ's trademark jagged take on filtered French house is still present, but with Chicago bump, techno and more random elements thrown in for good measure.I Keep Trying To Convince Myself is the tougher, more rugged and even funkier cousin to DJJ's hotly-hyped 2016 summer anthem just a lil. Chi house meets soca in this carnivalesque new classic, which hits the perfect spot between sweetness and dirt.Yn Y Ty is fast, jerky funk and almost a new genre in itself. Both melancholy and pumping, think DJ Rush meets the Tetris theme in an oddball, groovy-as-hell work of genius. The cut-up, loopy loops and tough, tribal beats on Apilli are deranged in a good way and - as with the rest of the EP - demonstrate a quirkiness and subtle humour akin to Basement Jaxx's early golden period.A big sample drives the jacking, sweaty, glitz of Upsqwar's warped take on handbag, which channels the spirit of Modjo and features a ponderous, almost chiptune melody drifting subtly over the top.The EP closes with the Greek flavoured stomper Glas, which wouldn't sound out of place on Richie Hawtin's 1999 mix album Decks, EFX & 909. This new EP is first release since jus a lil for Crazylegs, which gained high praise from NPR, Resident Advisor, Indie Shuffle, Mixmag, Dummy, Hyponik and FACT - who commissioned a video and coined the tongue-in-cheek genre name 'outsider Ibiza'. Comparisons have been made to Thomas Bangalter, Alan Braxe, Todd Edwards and David Morales - albeit a skewed reinterpretation. Like the punks' assimilation of rock and roll, DJJ's fresh and irreverent take on highlights from dance music history make for some of the most exciting sounds since Daft Punk's first forays.Although distorted and with lowered bit-rates, to call theses tracks 'low fi' is to do them a disservice, as DJJ's manipulation of frequencies, distortion and samples is deceptively simple yet not easily matched. There's a mastery of sonics and leftfield sensibility at play, akin to fellow EQ tweakers Heiroglyphic Being, Aphex Twin and Adrian Sherwood.DJJ is a member of the Bristol-based label/collective Crazylegs, alongside artists including Gage, Sudanim, Finn (all of whom remixed just a lil). He's also one half of ISLAND, whose grime-flavoured Nokia EP was release in 2015 - also on Crazylegs.

The Sunburst Band's lush "In The Thick Of It" has been a big club and radio hit throughout the summer, one that has even won praise from diehard fans of the Brenda Russell original.
Now Sweden's Opolopo (hot from his Gregory Porter '1960 What' rework) gives the track an 80's boogie/proto house rework.
Squelchy stabs and funked up synth bass make this a sure fire winner for both the muso's and dancefloors.
Yes, there are quite a few boogie influenced house tracks but most of them are based around big samples, where as this contains none.
If you prefer things a little less vocal then check the boogie body land dub, the grooves along without any house clichés.

The general consensus has been that "The Secret Life of Us" CD is the strongest album yet from Joey Negro's Sunburst Band. Recently managing to top the Solar Sweet Rhythms chart, Starpoint Soul Chart, Amazon Dance chart, now we start to see some of the cuts in extended remixed form.
The brassy disco funk jam "Take It To The Top" gets an extended beefed up treatment from Joey Negro. As always with Sunburst tunes the instrumentation is top notch, while Noelle Scaggs vocals ride beautifully over the top.
For those who like things a bit more electronic Andreas Saag delivers a brilliant remix that retains the jazziness of the original but underpinned by a crazy syncopated bassline.

After unleashing the enigmatic middle eastern funk bonanza The Nile Files earlier this year the Fossils crew return to western shores with a new EP from UV & NEN , revealing long forgotten newly interpreted disco funk
nuggets that are bound to become classics in their own right.
With newly recorded synths, vocals and nasty bass-lines thrown in the mix, The Bump 's anthemic qualities are evident from the minute the chorus kicks in and will most likely stick in your head and keep you humming for days... Trust us - this bad boy has been tested on dancefloors from New York to Tel Aviv to London's Boiler Room until finally finding its way to the pressing plant.
Love Makin' is a horny (no horns here), psychedelic disco affair, seasoned with sexy moans lifted by abnormal synth activities and followed by Beatcoin , a steady slow stomper that will get booties shaken & shaking across
the dance floor.
As with the previous Fossils release, these are all killers and true crate essentials for the seasoned DJs.

The Neapolitan Berlin based duo NU GUINEA inaugurates their new in-house label NG Records with a sparkling mélange of Jazz-Funk and obscure Disco. With its own special Italian flavour, the reinterpretation of Chrisma's late 70s ode to love finds its complement in a refreshing arcane dancefloor expedition. Previously pressed as a private wedding present, "Amore" is now being officially released as a limited edition of 350 copies.

on the flipside is Broken Flute - a fusion of prog rock and Afro funk with a mid speed rolling break to keep feet moving. All includes the usual live guitar, bass and keyboard performances from Andy Taylor himself.

"When I first heard the late J Dilla's magnum opus »Donuts« I had an epiphany. Feeling like a mixture of calming emotions yet irresistibly vivid, it was a true masterpiece with infinite replay value. Certainly that record did not mark the invention of instrumental hip-hop, nor was it the first beat tape I discovered. But that particular album sparked a turning point in the history of music. Stepping outside of every MC's shadow, producers were finally being acknowledged as individuals. Suddenly it appeared that behind all these bleeps, kicks, buttons and samples, a versed mind was in charge. Crafting beats was finally considered what it always was: a form of art.
Ten years later, dust has settled into the grooves of records that we now find in crates and boxes labeled as »beat art«. Every so often we dig up surprisingly good records and feel quite fortunate. Distinct details push you to look further into an unknown record - let it be the look, the condition or even the smell. After the needle touches the surface and a few head nods, you feel personally involved. »Guide RA« is no different as Frankfurt City beatsmith Thelonious Coltrane's second full length LP invokes that same feeling, a warm embrace of everything a young spirit could take away from a stack of jazz records.
Just don't get too cozy reminiscing the cats from back in the day. The subtle blends of 70s jazz and 90s soul hit hard. Reliving some of the finest moments from the golden age of hip-hop in today's perspective, the record feels familiar from front to back. Produced with Maschine and SP-404. Mastered by the one and only Figub Brazlevic. This is a new generation of producers. Theo is one of them."

He's been dropping soulful music on labels like BBE, PIAS, We Play House and Lumberjacks In Hell since he began in the early 90's.
Lately he's been focusing on more disco(ish) sounds and on this first EP on GAMM, Krewcial goes all over the place with a wide range of disco inspired edits.
You get everything from vocal NYC disco, jazz-funk disco, philly disco and beautiful mid tempo groover...all very soulful of course!

Basic Fingers is back and welcomes Philou Louzolo to the label, who delivers two blistering edits and one original track for the label's twenty ninth release.
First up is 'Lumumba's Revenge', an original cut, produced and arranged by Philou Louzolo himself, creating an intoxicating mood to start off the release.
Next up is 'Tartit's Tribe', an edit of an original desert song from the Tombouctou region of Mali.
As if that wasn't enough to set the juices flowing, Philou ends the release on the flip with 'Fadimata's Dibabba', a track built around exotic melodies, chanted vocals and chunky percussion.

After releasing his debut album "Paradise" earlier this year to much critical acclaim, B. Bravo has swung back around for yet another trip to this island of cosmic delights, tapping into some of our favorite producers & extended fam for a special 12" to accompany the digital of "Paradise Remixed". The A-Side kicks off with Fool's Gold producer Sammy Bananas turning the squelchy funk of "Freak It" into a filtered French & Italo inspired funky house monster, perfect for peak time on the dancefloor, while Los Angeles' XL Middleton deliver's a low slung G-Funk & boogie inspired take on the album single "I'm For Real". On the flip, UK producer SMBD (better known as Simbad) turns "Lay It On The Line" a classic 80s synth beast that's been tried & tested around European festivals all summer, while Grandfeather (aka Anton Borin) comes through with a spacey & deep downtempo funk reversioning of "Can't Keep My Hands Off You". Los Angeles-based Adam Mori aka B. Bravo adds a touch of love to every soulful groove he gets his hands on. His signature sound, connecting outer space g-funk, r&b, and dance music has made him a name in the electronic music scene as well a key player in the worldwide modern funk movement, being hailed by the likes of XLR8R, FACT Magazine, Gilles Peterson and many more.

Signature Spacek swing and acid bounce througout. After making waves a few years back via his Potatohead People project (with AstroLogical) and co-producing Illa J's critically acclaimed self titled LP, Vancouver based playboy & producer Nick Wisdom steps out from behind the boards to deliver his first solo release for Bastard Jazz.
The "Intimate Strangers" EP mines deep into Nick's proclivities for disco, hip-hop, and house flavours. "Good Times" kicks things off with a snapping four on the floor, deep Rhodes chords and a rollicking bassline and vocals courtesy of Mr. Wisdom himself. "Feelin' Alright" heads into outerspace disco territory with cosmic synths, walking bass, and sultry vocals courtesy of Reva Devito (HW&W, Kaytranada). On the flipside "Don't Tell" brings in some 80s boogie vibes with downlow vocals from San Francisco's K-Maxx, while "Rock The Cash Bar" is an instrumental party rocking hip-hop jam sounding like a modern day Showbiz & AG.
The optimistic chug of 'Moon Steppin'' sets the tone and tempo for VOW's 4th offering by freak Angeleno, Secret Circuit. Side B: 'A Love Exotic', is a decadent disco jam from a strange planet, replete with alien voices and elegant bass hums. B2's 'Code Breaker' raps together samba sensibilities with eastern guitars on a bed of creamy pads to carry you thru the night . . . and then morning.

Sunlightsquare's first single of 2017, Oyelo, is a mixture of Jazz, Cuban and House music in its most authentic form. Starting with moody latin-jazz piano and sun-drenched live percussion played by master percussionist Giovanni Imparato, the track is driven by the classic house beat of the TR-909 - the legendary 1980's drum machine. Ronnie Scott's resident Cuban singer Rene Alvarez delivers the impassioned vocals, followed by the main man Claudio Passavanti's heated Montuno piano riffs, which combine seamlessly to create a blissful, dance-floor experience. It's a perfect marriage of organic grooves, lush beats and soulful vocals, joining the dots between different generations of latin dance music.
For the B side, London based, Japanese producer Kay Suzuki transformed the original track into his signature psychedelic journey in 2 parts. His By The Sea Mix takes you to the Havana beach with its synthesiser generated waves & seagulls right from the intro. The stripped-down beats and vocals are smoothly laid out with warm analogue synth textures, giving more space to Claudio's tasteful latin-jazz keyboard improvisations.
In contrast, the Drum Dub goes to the opposite side of the spectrum, all the musical elements have been removed, focusing solely on the live percussion and the raw TR-909 beat, all dubbed out with tape delays for a classic cosmic dub treatment.
Short Bio:
Critically acclaimed Jazz pianist, multi-instrumentalist & bandleader Claudio Passavanti aka. Sunlightsquare has been associated with Latin & Cuban music since his top selling vinyl releases such as "I Believe In Miracles"(2010), "Pastime Paradise"(2010) and "Heart's Desire"(2012) as well as producing the main title of the soundtrack on the feature film "Cuban Fury" (Studio-Canal/Film4) starring Nick Frost (2014). Claudio's talent also extends to house music production with the 2016 Osunlade's Yoruba Soul Records release Celebration Of Oggun, as well as his remix work for Gilles Peterson's Brownwood Recordings.

For decades, if you wanted to listen to great music all you needed to do was stare at a screen! TV and film soundtracks were often the work of US legends such as Lalo Schiffrin, Oliver Nelson & Quincy Jones, and their Uk counterpartsRonnie Hazelhurst and Alan Hawkshaw, provided the soundtrack to the 60's & 70's at a time when film and TV music was unashamedly funky and featured the ensemble of choice for the jazz arranger.. the big band!
A 21st century musician with comparable skills is Andy Tolman - an astounding bass player, but also highly adept at writing & arranging for a big band and who is heavily influenced by those greatest practitioners of the art. Andy met to Nick van Gelder (the original Jamiroquai drummer) and keyboard guru Carl Hudson whilst doing a run of gigs backing artists like Leon Ware and Jean Carne. Andy played Nick You What! and he asked if he could lay a drum track down and at around the same time Carl offered his services on the record also. Nick went on to drum on the entire album and produce the recordings too.
At the tail end of 2011, when Freestyle Records A&R man Greg Boramans' compilation 'Sounds From The Soul Underground' was released the glorious noise of The Andy Tolman Cartel first came to public attention. The amazing track You What! had one foot in jazz-funk & the other in film & TV themes of the 60's and 70's, found champions in Jazz FM's Peter Young and BBC 6 Musics Craig Charles who both featured it on their radio shows heavily.
Andy himself takes up the story, "After You What! found it's way onto Gregs' compilation he asked me how many more tracks I had, I kind of lied (sorry Greg!) and said a whole albums worth. Having shot my mouth off I thought I had better set about delivering... a daunting prospect, and a promise I probably wouldn't have made had I been sober at the time. So I called upon the services of some of the amazing musicians I have worked with over the past few years. Move Over was the first song I heard Jo Harman sing and Stevie Watts award winning Hammond organ playing seemed like a natural fit too"
'Cypher' is indeed the perfect example of a natural fit of like minded musicians and their natural talents and the delightfully natural sound of a big band cutting loose that has not been heard for a long time making a welcome and long overdue return.

Electric Purple Vinyl Repress
Chromatics turn the night into a woozy slow-mo disco ball twirl, and the titles say it all really: 'Tomorrow Is So Far Away', 'Let's Make This Moment A Moment To Remember'. The culmination is 'Tick Of The Clock', a quarter of an hour slowed almost to a stop. A flanged beat box ticks and a dense howl of organ chords crawls over vinyl crackle until eventually nothing is left but a slowly reverberating bassline. The night is over. After leaving the nightclub, the chill of the morning air is refreshing but still sends a shiver down the spine. - 4/5 Resident Advisor

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome back to the Shimmy Sham Sham sessions. When people talk about Summertime vibes it's most often associated with the obvious: good weather, sweet drinks, waterside locales, and a much-needed departure from the daily grinds of work, school, and off-season doldrums. One thing most tend to overlook however are the smells. It's the smell of the summer season that really infects the spirit; being attacked by the olfactory seducing aromas of suntan lotions, watermelon, Ck one summer spray overuse, piña colada mixes, BBQ grill emanations, and perhaps most importantly of all, sweat. Dripping, oozing, sticky buckets of lovely sweat everywhere. Whether that is happening poolside, in the bedroom, or, as the case clearly is with this ridiculous three-tracker of party bombs, on the dance floor. The whole wide world of Disc Jockeys now have access from everything to "Don't stop the music" a slick power wash of classic French disco, to a rollicking jazz piano-led jam by an operator hereby known as Professor Twirl-hair. In the heat of the night, let those sweaty numbers melt your worries. No top hat and gator shoes required - just shake that ass!

2 classics on one 12" single, gems excavated from the deepest realms of the TK Disco vaults. Remastered, represented and brought back into focus for 2017's DJ bags and dance-floors! On side A we have former Foxy frontman Ishmael 'Ish' Ledesma with his sublime esoteric Disco cut from 1979 called 'Don't stop', a deep, late night diamond of a track that will appeal to the more left-field Disco lovers out there. 'Don't stop' has long been a favourite with the diggers with it's sweet vocals, synth heavy production and overall cosmic vibe. A beauty of a track indeed and one of TK's lesser known cuts. Side B sees fusion guitarist John Tropea's 1979 cosmic classic 'Living in the jungle', a long time spin of DJ's like Daniele Baldelli and DJ Harvey. Infusing Tropea's rock sensibilities with the throb of the Disco dance-floor the track is a low slung, midtempo groover that touches all the right spots. Overall, this essential double-header is a must have for all Disco heads and left-field DJ fiends.
As usual, these TK represses are always done in the proper manner. 100% legit re-edits, from the archive, remastered and released in conjunction with Henry Stone Music / TK Disco - Miami FL.

Back fighting, kicking and beating as strong as or perhaps even stronger than ever before, Ivan 'Mamao' Conti is releasing a brand new solo album next year. Now fitted with a new iron hip- thanks to the immense generosity of his fan base who crowdfunded the operation - the Azymuth drummer still remains one of the greatest and outright funkiest drummers alive anywhere in the universe as he enters this new bionic era. As people of earth are not yet quite ready to hear the explosively ethereal cosmic samba of his new album just yet, we're easing into it with a series of appropriately propulsive percussive jazz-headed remixes. For the second 12' of the series we've enlisted two of the most on-fire producers in Germany: Max Graef and GlennAstro, along with one of the UK's brightest ascendant producers.
We've waited really too long to release this ep. These tracks were given to Musique Risquée more than 10 years ago and waited since then on harddrive before they got rediscovered on a boozy night in Tokyo. They have not aged a bit, fresh as when they were given to us. Maybe we weren't ready then. But we are now and hopefully you are too.
Although not a band in a traditional sense of the word, this record was created by a rotating ensemble of players: for a brief moment, musicians from different backgrounds (in this iteration: Preslav, Kenny Peagler, Waajeed, Joe DeFazio and Phil Boyd) became a band and then went their separate ways.
Rhodes, funk basslines, neo-soul chords and tight drum programming are the lingua franca of the 24 Hour Band.
The title of each song represents the time of day that inspired it and collectively, they point to the goal to create records that can be enjoyed not just in a club, but throughout the day, at home, or in your car.
This is the 24HR Band.
The first in a series from Pelvis Records, DJ Tools Volume 1 features an all-Australian lineup of artists across 6 tracks. Varying in tempo and moods, this first round comes courtesy of Sam Weston, Mall Grab, Chunyin, Body Corp, Jamie Blanco and Pelvis. Berlin DJ/producer Daniel Steinberg returns with his wonderful third album 'Left-Handed' - a kaleidoscopic trip through house, electronica and jazz and imbued with the artist's trademark warmth and adventurous musical spirit. Left-Handed vinyl Part 1 includes opening track 'Corn Dog' - a melting pot of Latin tech, funk, rap and jazz, the chicago inspired 'State of Mind' and 'Bones to the bluesy nostalgia of 'Peace'. This is an album's album that's heavy on highlights, while working beautifully as a cohesive whole.

Hailing from Florida, the Brookside imprint have dug deep into the master tapes and let NYC master-mixer Mike Maurro loose on a couple of stone cold classics! Maurro, a Queens based DJ and mixer since 1986 has become one of the top remixers out there today with his own, faithful takes on numerous dance classics from the last 30+ years. Here he lends his magic touch to a pair of well loved club classics while adding his own original flavour. Dan Hartman's "Vertigo/Relight My Fire" is up first on side-A, featuring the unmistakable vocals of NYC diva Loleatta Holloway. Maurro's mix brings the vocals in earlier, dubbing them out creating a super trippy atmosphere with a slightly different musical arrangement over the course of almost 14 minutes! On side-B, we have the legendary Evelyn "Champagne" King's "Shame", with a slightly longer, beat led intro for the DJ's. A true extended mix with a slightly different arrangement Maurro's mix of this classic is a killer. Beautifully faithful and mixed with love and an understanding of the dancefloor and the classics! These mixes are ESSENTIAL for any Disco/soul/Funk fans out there, unmissable for the DJ's, legitimately remastered and pressed onto high quality 12" singles in conjunction with all rights holders.

Following last years acclaimed Curse of Soft Rocks album, we're invited to revisit said masterpiece from an alternative entry — a robust compilation of remixes. Every track is re-contextualized so wildly that we're left with a beautifully oblique yet complimentary rendering. The personnel employed vary in style and technique drastically, but such is the ethos of Soft Rocks, and furthermore the ESP Institute. At the end of the day, we implore you to shut up and listen.
On this 12" (the first of 4 surrounding The Revenge of Soft Rocks remix album) we're treated with a serious disco belted version of Talking Jungle as reworked by JUSTIN VANDERVOLGEN (TBD, Gold Channel, DFA, etc, etc) and an insanely serene take on Obo by ESP favorite TIAGO (Sea Power & Change, Gala Drop, DFA, etc, etc)... good lord this is quite a piece of wax!

SFSB Recordings welcome Mr Hot Mood to the stable for our second release, following his previous releases on Tugboat edits, Editorial, Masterworks, Deep Sense an Whiskey Pickle Records.
Side A's Lets Get It and Lost Soul head toward the deeper side of Mexico's finest, With "Let's get it" looping itself into an underground frenzy before releasing the crowd into a classic 1970s chant and them throwing them over to a killer organ hook, a must for 4am. "Lost Soul" takes you even deeper in to the realms of 70's Soul, bringing it into the 21 century with its beefed up lick " I wanna hold on, and let my love grow strong", reminiscent of the original Mark E working that helped start the movement.
Side B
'The G Groove" proves to be another early set summer anthem, completely heads down whenever it gets played, while "Keep on Dancing" does exactly what it says on the tin. The hardest track of the EP is left till last, with its "Keep on Dancing" call to arms for the dance floor reinforced by a destructible sax loop, it should be called Martini, anytime anyplace anywhere.
These tracks definitely reflect the sounds of South Beach, produced with love by Hotmood, curated by South Beach Recycling.

Outstanding three track EP from the archives of Caliban (A side project of London musician Milton Myrie, a session guitar player who worked with cult UK buddhist afro and reggae band Ozo as well as on the much sought after Steel and Skin 'Afro Punk Reggae' 12'). Talk about bang for ye buck.. 1 side crucial oddball digital cuts, b side sounds like a UK jazz funk classic... Gold Print Sleeve. BIG TIP!
.
Caliban produced only one self-released 7' 'Open Mind / Digital Reggae' in 1984.
Following the re-discovery of this very little known 7' by Caliban a few years back, UK producer Jackson Bailey aka Tapes managed to track Milton down, who as well as being in possession of most of the stock of the original record, was also sat on a number of amazing unreleased recordings from the Caliban sessions. With an album of unreleased Caliban material compiled by Tapes to follow later on Music From Memory, this EP introduces one of the unreleased tracks, the incredible feel good disco anthem Supernatural'. Taking us on a glittering, rhythm charged rocket tour of the Funk Cosmos, this until-now-unheard future classic will surely set the summer nights alight.
The three track 12' also includes Digital Reggae' which featured on the original Caliban 7'. This computerised dancehall/funk hybrid was partially penned to address the lack of black culture included in the payload of the United States' first space station, Digital Reggae will be included in the Payload of Skylab!'. As well as the original mix, the EP also includes a new dub put together by Milton himself and assisted by riddim specialist Tapes!
Produced by Mike Misiu who has also been responsible for a slew of anonymous underground releases and edits over the last few years as well as being one half of Londons Cut the Rug party crew. We first heard Bill Brewster drop "Do what you need" at the last ever Lowlife party and managed to track Mike down. The Loose change Project mixes raw soul warmth with ananlog grit and a dub aesthetic.

Most Excellent Unlimited's series of 45s celebrating the 45th year of Danny Krivit's career continues with a blast of two heavyweight cuts that, to borrow the parlance of the era from which they came, are bonafide Sure Shots. Wood, Brass & Steel's "Funkanova," a jazz-funk masterpiece and Loft classic that was liberally sampled in the house world (Black Science Orchestra, Terrence Parker, the Bucketheads), is pared down to its most joyous elements. From the intro, a typical Krivit maestro's detail of an opening bass slide prefacing hands-in-the-air cascades of iconic horns and keys, to the echo of the last notes, it's a perfect edit immaculately tailored for DJ usage.
The flip delves deeper into New York City dance history with a rough and rugged beat- down of a proto-disco, b-boy classic: Boobie Knight & the Universal Lady's "Sex." Displaying his usual knack of going straight for the jugular, Krivit takes the song's siren-call-to-the-dance floor horn riff as his starting point, peeling off another layer to the floor-shaking bass and drums before bringing it all back to the top with a perfectly placed drum roll that will have Flash disciples fiending for doubles.
Solidifying this blazing double-sider is the fact that neither of these essential cuts has ever appeared in seven-inch form. Another Most Excellent Unlimited sure shot!

Nu Era delivers another dose of Deep-Soulful Techno produced by Marc Mac. This Detroit style 4 track EP is backed with genre-fused science, analogue machines woven together by chords, melodies and beats we've come to expect from Nu Era, at times the string laden 4hero sound is synonymous throughout the four tracks and although synthetic still full of emotion. The Vinyl release is a lovely transparent red and an animated label design is a nice bonus, limited to 300 copies.

True to form, Boston-based label Cultures of Soul is set to release a compilation of obscure disco from a far-flung corner of the world. After forays into India and Brazil, they now turn their attention to South Africa. South Africa is home to a dizzying variety of musical genres and traditions, including some that look directly to American sounds for inspiration. In the late 70s and early 80s, many of the country's best young musicians were guided by funk. All over the world, disco was growing harder and more electronic, with new synthesizers entering the market every month. The southern tip of Africa was no exception. Global music industry geo-politics, however, aided by the country's pariah status and a UN-sanctioned cultural boycott, prevented the vast majority of this music from ever being heard outside the country, nor ever being released on CD or digitally. Until now. Compiled by Cultures Of Soul head honcho Deano Sounds in collaboration with Johannesburg-based DJ Okapi from the Afro-Synth blog and record store, Boogie Breakdown serves up two tracks apiece from six seminal acts from the era - Harari, The Cannibals, Neville Nash, Benjamin Ball, Don Laka and Al Etto - to offer a glimpse into this long-forgotten era in African music history. A period of true innovation and new possibilities - as well as isolation and political instability - the early 80s in South Africa saw the emergence of numerous talented, innovative artists, whose efforts soon gave rise to the big-selling 'bubblegum' sound of the mid-80s. As the decade wore on, this sound shed its American roots and took on more local influences, becoming ever more electronic and less funky, to become the kwaito of the 90s and ultimately the house music of today. It all started with the arrival of synthesizers and the creativity of producers and artists featured on this compilation - pioneers
of a new sound before it became established and marketable - global in its appeal, yet rooted in Africa.

There's not much to say about such a groundbreaking record such as this - the 1991 Dj Pierre-produced classic is a fine song in its own right featuring the vocals of Paula Brion but it was the Wild Pitch mix (Pierre's first) which laid the blueprint for a particular sound / mix / track development which was much copied.....the instrumental is a great mix too.....still sampling "The Power" from Snap (well, it is Jocelyn Brown originally)! Accapella too.

Welcome to the ever so eighth sun-drenched installment of all that is great and summery in the Nu Disco Universe. Back at the helm after a few summers off is Slovenian superhero and all-around Nang buddy Sare Havlicek at the controls. Sare has deftly compiled and mixed a cadre of fine delights for those summer grooving nights (and days).
Things open up with an exclusive from UK based produced Blue Azure, "Wide Awake" is a prefect of the sound we are trying to encompass. Bags of sun, groove with a touch of swing. Next it is off to San Francisco for a combo of talents from The Beat Broker and Sorcerer, shimmering guitar and sparkly synths all in one package. Goldboy turn in a fine remix of the punchy and synth-stabby "La Vache De Dense" from Les Chevaliers Solex. Things toughen up for a tad with Ron Basejam (from Crazy P) giving us a bass guitar driven dance floor work out of Raykos "No Stopping".
The man himself, Sare, is next with his remix of Glasgow based The Korvids getting the summer vocal grooves firing. Also featured is a taster from his upcoming album "No Chance To Dance". Bristol based Situation are next with disco cutmeister Greg Wilson contributing to a fine stomping remix. Talking of Situation their fine remix of underground afro disco classic "Na Real Sekele Fo Ya" by Pasteur Lappe really gets the floor filling. Flanger X keeps the tempo electric with his fine "Back In Business" guitar chopped funker.
Time for some legends next, Pete Herbert joins up with Martin Denev and US House Music vocal legend Robert Owens for a big beater "Pass Me By", Australian cut-up-king Dr Packer doing the business on a remix. "Believe In Love" is a left field quirker from album kings Proper Heat. Things get plucky and bouncy next with "Arp" from the Russian contingent of Kim and Buran. Back to the US West Coast next with Grooving in Guatamala from Aimes.
To round things off it's a slice of slick psych disco from Italtian Billy Bogus and his Caribbean House project. Before a fine vocal stomp from Sheffield based Hiem with their bass and sax driven "Highlife".
Until we meet next summer, a fond farewell.

Sentre is comprised of Dave Gardner and Dennis White, a production duo who merge melodic techno and sultry electronica with soulful vocals and an innovative pop sensibility.
Dream Logic is the debut album, but Sentre have always found themselves at the forefront of cutting edge music, having worked with and remixed a diverse list of high-profile artists: from Sasha's legendary Involver project to the likes of The XX, M83, Pete Tong, Calvin Harris, Maribou State, Moby, and Little Dragon amongst many more.
Dream Logic is a versatile and dynamic album that explores everything from techno and house to break beats alongside slick elements of pop and r&b.
'Drawn' is a highlight, employing the vocal talents of Stephanie O for a down tempo offering of smooth electronics with a catchy 'drawn to you' refrain sure to embed itself in the ears of listeners.
'Eclipse' features 1403 and plays with dense sounds and shuffling percussion alongside stunning vocals. 'Canadian Vibes' is a turning point as it's a 3-minute blast of cinematic soundscapes, and 'Lost In The Moment' features Norway's Aurora who paints hypnotic sounds with her tender and allusive vocals.
In between sublime downtempo electronica and broken 2-step, 'Believe' offers house piano stabs next to cyclic vocals and euphoric textures until 'F-Ace' marks Dream Logic's conclusion as an underground dance floor number.
The duo's experience and achievements up to this point has gifted them with a seamless working relationship, something that has given them unabated creative freedom in the studio: Working in a studio you are constantly pulling ideas in from the strangest places' explains David. Some old ideas through new technology can give you something incredible - or the latest piece of software through an old synth can do the same'.
Dream Logic sees Sentre unveil their identity with a varied, unique and dynamic record. The Sentre sound is a well respected one that is sure to be successful with new fans as well as those who will undoubtedly be familiar with the duo's decorated musical history.

For decades, if you wanted to listen to great music all you needed to do was stare at a screen! TV and film soundtracks were often the work of US legends such as Lalo Schiffrin, Oliver Nelson & Quincy Jones, and their Uk counterparts Ronnie Hazelhurst and Alan Hawkshaw, provided the soundtrack to the 60's & 70's at a time when film and TV music was unashamedly funky and featured the ensemble of choice for the jazz arranger.. the big band!

Mr. K gets jazzy on this new 12-inch from Most Excellent Unlimited. The breakdown of the smooth R&B staple "Street Life" stands out with a steady four-on-the-floor pulse that contrasts with the funk backbeat of the verses. Working exclusively with this portion, Krivit teases out six-and-a-half slinky minutes of sophisticated groove, weaving percussion and vocalist Randy Crawford's ad-libs in and out of the mix in tantalizing fashion.
As a DJ, Danny Krivit is renowned for his willingness to throw a funky curveball into the mix, and for the B-side of this single he gives us a peek at one of his secret weapons. A year after Yusef Lateef released his hit version of "Nubian Lady" in 1972, pianist Roy Meriwether was at a small club in Dayton, Ohio with his trio and laid down a sprawling live take that covered the entire side of a album, including a bridge that pushed the languid tempo of the original to a sassy upbeat workout. Mr. K's edit focuses on this section, leaving us with nine minutes of gritty, get-down funky jazz complete with thunderous drum break. Whether working as a surefire party starter or a clever changeup, "Nubian Lady" is a dancer.

Benjamin Ball's "Flash A Flashlight" is the first preview of the next Cultures of Soul compilation, Boogie Breakdown -South African Disco 1980 to 1984. WIth the help of DJ Okapi, Cultures of Soul has tracked down many of the great synth boogie artists of the 80s in South Africa including Benjamin Ball, Don Laka, Al Etto, Neville Nash, Harari, and many others. Benjamin Ball's "Flash A Flashlight" came out just after Brenda & The Big Dudes' massive hit "Weekend." Ball's unique reggae-tinged synth boogie was nearly as big and became the second bubble gum anthem of the era. Highly respected house DJ/producer and co-founder of the Running Back label, Gerd Janson gives us two nice edits of "Flash A Flashlight." Gerd provides two funked up rerubs of the track, one with vocals and one without. Flori's Life Signs marks the eighth release for Voyage and the UK artist's debut for the label. An ode to the unexplored landscapes of Mars, Flori uses a refined aesthetic, not dissimilar to the original star gazers of Detroit, to imagine and encapsulate the reality of being alone on Point Lake. Two driving explorations, accompanied by a pensive ambient excursion, Life Signs takes Flori and Voyage into the areocentric orbit of our closest terrestrial neighbour.

After playing as a bassist and guitarist for various bands, he started producing in the mid-nineties and has kept on mixing today's technologies with the raw spirits of House, Electronic, Disco, Funk, Soul, Reggae & Jazz music's golden years since then.
Following the trail of success left by his various projects as Patchworks, and under many aliases, he's proved his musical ubiquity and unexpectedly stroke in various genres. Many House music diggers would indeed remember that before Favorite Recordings was launched in 2006, Patchworks produced many deep-house tracks on various labels.
On this new EP, he's back as Mr President with 2 new banging titles brilliantly mixing House music atmosphere, with Soul and Disco vibes. He's also teaming up again with Sabba MG on vocals, following to their great Give My Love' efforts, released on EDR Records 3 years ago. As Going to a Go Go' is a fully exclusive work reminiscent of the early House music scene from New-Jersey or Chicago, the nice Disco flavors of Night Time' also come to announce Mr President's upcoming new album in 2017.
One of the best selectors of Reggea, Soul, Disco and all their derivates delivers a strong release on the Bochum based Label Kalakuta Soul Records that has found its way to the record bags of all disco DJs around the globe. A fine selection of Jamaican, french and US relates bangers meticulously edited and mastered to blow both all dancers' hips and minds away.

The unpredictable nature of life for a band with members scattered around the globe have forced Guts to give his line-up a shake to start their various tours in the best possible conditions.
A Brand New Revolution!
So Leron Thomas gave way to Wolfgang Volburn, who is also lead vocalist of The Ephemerals. Mary May climbed onto Lorine Chia's throne. Beat Assailant plucked a mic from the air that was still burning from the flow of Von Pea. While Florian Pellissier remains riveted to the keyboards, versatile Greg F. on the bass and Nico Rajao on drums, Guts has gobbled up the miles and bestrode stage after stage at the head of a revitalised live band.
New recruits had kept enhancing the well-practised repertoire with their vibes, redefining some of the contours, adding a bit more soul here or a lightness of touch there. Their impact was so great, in fact, that changing line-ups have become part of the band's identity.
Galvanized by this new alchemy, Guts and his new-look live band stopped off in the studio to compose and record some new tracks which he has brought together on "Stop the Violence", a five-track record that's more like a mini-album than a simple EP.
High on this regenerating juice, energy levels spiking into the red, "Ain't Perfect", "Pick Me Up", "Everybody Wants to Be a Star", "Drummer's Delight" and the title track light up boxes marked soul, afro, disco and jazz, brighten a groove carpeted with retro-funky keyboards and the brass of Cotonete, Heavenly Sweetness's resident jazz-funk specialists. Two birds with one stone, since Guts and his live band will obviously use "Stop the Violence" to set the stage ablaze after burning up people's decks.

Our first GO Ibiza Compilation has been compiled by Bobby & Steve and Michael Hughes and mixed by our very own Bobby & Steve.
It features 28 amazing tracks and is modelled around the launch of our Groove Odyssey Presents GO IBIZA four day weekender, which took place from the 19th - 22nd of May 2017 at the Beach Star Hotel, San Antonio Bay, Ibiza. With over 40 artists from around the globe coming together on the magical island of Ibiza, it was a memorable
affair and many of the guests now feature on the album.
This double CD features two mixes. CD1 is the Poolside mix and will set you up for the day with a journey from chilled to mid-tempo to prime time grooves, featuring a laid back mix of Joe Smooth's house classic anthem "Promise Land", the Kenny Dope remix of Skyy's 80's classic "High", Larry Heard's Fingers Inc "Bye Bye", DJ Spinna's remix of Hallex M's "Feeling" and Joey Negros' Sunburst Bands "In the Thick of It" amongst many other gems.
CD2 is the club mix and we get the party started with the DJ Spen mix of Richard Burton's "Bad Luck', followed by the Bobby & Steve remix of Leroy Burgess "Over Like a Fat Rat", Louie Vega/Monique Bingham's "Elevator", Mike Dunn's "Time Keeps Marching On", The Atjazz Tweak of Exel Tulemo's "Get Down" and Zepherin Saint featuring Sara Devine "Hurry".
We hope the mixes capture some of those special vibes that took place over the four days.
Tracks on the album have been supported by,
Louie Vega, Kenny Dope, Joey Negro, Terry Hunter, DJ Spen, Mike Dunn, Bobby & Steve, Opolopo, Dj Spinna.

MERC return with the latest instalment in their celebrated E-Versions series.
No. 8 is classic Mark E business, proven king, as he is, of the 'slow-burner'
'Train Tunnel' is a beautifully unhurried deconstruction of a Jazz classic, upright bass, piano flourishes and horns picked fresh from the speakeasy and popped in the slow-cooker for a deeper, mesmerising flavour
On the flip 'Give It Time' is a glorious celestial and atmospheric workout, which - as the title would suggest - implores you to ignore the demands of accelerated culture and pace your journey to dancefloor nirvana accordingly.
Merc to the future !

Emotional Response again teams up with Meda Fury and Sad City to present an EP of remixes from the acclaimed debut album, Shapes In Formation. Enlisting a killer tag-team of DJ Nature, HOLOVR and Herron to bring their own retakes of Gary Caruth's music, arrives with justified anticipation. The success of Sad City's debut opus was a deserved conclusion to a journey across third world ambient, found sound samples and jazz-touched beats. All are reworked and expanded here while retaining the artist's all encompassing atmospheric oeuvre. First Milo Johnson dons his DJ Nature moniker for two mixes of Steady Jam. The stand out of the album for many, it seemed right to request Milo's skills to push the sample-based loops to a deep dance floor. Rolling congas, skipping hats and the teasing, soulful melodies come together to work their magic. Vocal and Dub are crafted and cut as one long-form take for the more adventurous, this is dub-disco for the today's real (to reel) entertainers. Side two is given over to rising names in HOLOVR and Herron. With releases on Opal Tapes, Further and Firecracker Recordings, Jimmy Billingham 303-infused sound is perfect in reshaping Caruth's trip that is Pace, Movements I-IV. Building slowly with trademark 909 meets acid, kick eventually arrives to take the remix beyond head nodding to swinging minds and hearts. The EP closes with a perfect dismantle and rebuild by Manchester's Herron. A man of talents, Sam Lewis is pushing his City's cultural landscape via the Soup Kitchen venue, co-running the on-point Meandyou Records, while still having time to record solo as Herron and for Hinge Finger as one half of CO/R, alongside label head Joy Orbison. The glitch beats, drone synthesis and orchestral vocal snatches of Rain fuse and percolate in the mind's eye. Sad City. Reshaped in transformations.

These tracks (both 13 Minutes) Paradise / In Love An Arc make the debut recording by AMOR, a new quartet based largely in Glasgow, consisting of Richard Youngs, Luke Fowler, Michael Francis Duch and Paul Thomson. AMOR is a master-class in blissful, searching, avant-disco fuelled by telepathic ensemble playing and an untouchable, higher joy. While unmistakably Dance music, these are analog recordings, sounds in a room, in space. The musicians are messengers, the message is love.
Recorded at Chem 19 at Green Door in Glasgow, it was mixed with Golden Teacher/The Modern Institute-member Richard McMaster. Both tracks edge the 14 minute mark, slices of ecstasy seemingly hewn from a band deep in the Zone. Mastered by Matt Colton at Alchemy Studios, the balance between hefty, bass-thick kicks and crisp percussion, an elastic double bass that lends a bounce to proceedings and floating piano chords recalls a warped take on Philadelphia International Records, a version of This Heat decimating the disco charts of late 70s USA. Paradise begins with a proto-house kick drum and Paul Thomson's inescapably funky percussion, inviting Duch's bass into the mix. Fowler's subtle electronic touches set up some of the most open-hearted, love-infected vocals Richard Youngs has ever set to tape. Guided through various drops and ecstatic highs by ceaselessly inventive rhythm composition, the listener is elevated to several plains, to different levels and spirits.
In Love An Arc arguably goes deeper. Jane Sayer's guest violin scrapes us in, with formless shapes polluting the stereo field until a plaintive piano chord pattern brings us into the groove. Sounding like a lost spirit looking through the glass darkly, Youngs' vocal is melancholic and truthful. Fowler's synth playing evolves upward, duetting with the stringed instruments' deep excursions into the night. While these are only the first recordings by AMOR, the members have separate exceptional histories in modern music. Richard Youngs has a 140+ long discography covering any number of musics often invented by Youngs himself, while Luke Fowler is an award winning film-maker and visual artist, as well as an electronic musician in his own right. Paul Thomson is a drummer and percussionist with Franz Ferdinand and The Yummy Fur and Michael Francis Duch is a double bassist based in Norway with deep roots in the world of improvisation and minimalist composition. Most importantly, however, is that this is the sound of a band, as one.

Discarded Gems is a series aimed to the discovery of rejected musical gems, buried in live sessions, noisy tapes, old digital system, and reserve them a dignified space on a plastic disc.
The first release is a man-driven machines excursion in multiple shades of house music. Riding acid basslines, rooted rhythms, crackling samples and inherent chords progressions are the foundations of this EP.

The No Stress Express rolls back into town with their second offering for Rogue Cat Sounds, where they pick you up and transport you to the sunnier climes and headier days of 1980s Caribbean.
Steel drums, loose-limbed percussion, lazy synth stabs and carefree basslines, all infused with a whiff of Woodbines, jerk chicken and dark rum. As the sun sets, the party picks up momentum. Barefoot beach dancing.
Tipsy, 'mellow' moods. 'Location 141' is chosen as the spot to ignite the fire which is carried out with blistering aplomb, taking us on yet another excursion. Speaking in tongues; old stories being told on repeat to the keen ears of worldly explorers, and as the stars descend and the moon casts its blue hue, the sea gently throws its waves against the 'Soft Rocks', where we're lifted high into the cosmos in a tranquil, tropical daze and splendour, reminding us just why it was that we ran away to 'Runaway Bay'.

V/A-Justin Van Der Volgen,Bruce Forest,,Photay,Phil Moffa,Devin Dare,Jex Opolis,Whatever/What
Most Excellent Breaks, Beats & Loops, Volume 2
After the success of Most Excellent Unlimited's first DJ tools collection, a new roster of dance floor masters has convened to open their bag of tricks. There's something for every mood on this eight- track EP, opening appropriately with the one-two disco punch of Justin Van Der Volgen's energetic conga break "High In NYC" and legendary Better Days alum Bruce Forest's anthemic "Street Break," with its instantly recognizable brass hook and percussion from Brazilian maestro Airto Moreira. Photay's "J Train Squeak Break" builds drama with a minimal afro texture while Phil Moffa goes the other way with a tribal four-on-the-floor stomper.
The flip side continues the diverse directive, as Devin Dare's opening segment demonstrates with a never-issued Labelle live session. Jex Opolis crafts a clever Sun Palace-esque Casio workout and downtown veterans Whatever/Whatever revisit a much- loved technopop beat before KZA takes things out with "Fitness Beats," a sweaty workout that runs through a dozen iconic disco breaks. Once again, Most Excellent Breaks, Beats & Loops lives up to its name with a high-quality collection that proudly extends the lineage of the classic New York City break compilation.

Munich based pair Jorkes are something of an enigma, having appeared on the scene recently with a fully formed sound and a desire to let their music do the speaking for them. Musically the duo seem to be operating with few boundaries, looking to express their emotional states through their music with scant consideration for styles or genres. This latest release sees Jorkes team up with fellow Munich resident and vocalist Karol Schmejchel to deliver a slice of evocative, slo-mo nu-disco. The release kicks of with the original mix of 'Thank You', marrying chugging drums and warm bass with stirring pads and the emotionally charged vocals of Schmejchel. It's a perfect track for dark backrooms and home lounging alike. The remix comes from Manchester trio Menage a Trois who deliver a sonical beautiful reworking built around heartwrenching keys and heavily reverbed guitar parts. Simple understated drums carrying the record along as their vocal treatment soars towards the heavens, this is sublime stuff. The vinyl release will also feature an exclusive instrumental of the Menage a Trois mix for those who like things a little more stripped back. In keeping with Jorkes' creative outlook, and following on from their previous release, there will be an exclusive music video of 'Thank You' forthcoming which is likely to set pulses racing once again! Thanks for purchasing a real copy!
* Jun Kamoda has been a solid contributor to Japan's electronic music scene for quite some time. Producing under his Illreme moniker for over 15 years & also as member of Hip Hop trio Baleine 3000. He is also a cartoon illustrator for Japanese independent magazine 'Usca'.
* 2016 saw him release 'The Clay EP' (with *that* Physical Graffiti tune) on New York's seminal imprint Mister Saturday Night as well as a track for a Dirt Crew Recordings compilation. Having recently remixed Clap! Clap!'s 'Hope', Jun Kamoda's debut for Black Acre is set for release in June.
* Infectious licks and raw drums come together to form 'Blind Disco', an animated production that blends a cacophony of samples into a raucous party jam. 'Ramen Funk' is a moodier cut by comparison, featuring a medley of percussive elements, vibrant guitar melodies and a seedy bassline, until 'Savanna On The Palm' chops up and loops a wailing vocal sample before leading into echoing chords and a twisted groove in a mesmerising conclusion.

A warm and organic deephouse masterpiece by the bearded don. Sello delivers 4 classic and distinctive deep cuts for the latest Tiefrequent 12. A1-Every Creature Has Its Place
gently rises to a warm and organic deephouse track full of soul and passion. It mainly consists of a loop, containing a smooth chord-sample and a massive bassline, combined with a constantly playing organic bass guitar slap. The well thought-out arrangement, the discreet use of some voice cuts, the permanent variation of percussions makes Every Creature an easy flowing piece of music. A2-Beachcruiser (w&p by Sello)
The rough beginning composed of a stomping bassline, a concise hi-hat and a cracking clap, transforms to a hopeful song at the time, the main piano chord soul sample flows in, and is packed to the rafters with breezy positivity.
B1-The Hook-Up (w&p by Sello)
A perfect symbiosis of a rough and slightly distorted drum/bassline ensemble and harmonic elements. The stomping fundament in the lower frequencies and the emerging pads in combination with gently altering noise and percussion parts make 'The Hook-Up' a spheric, impulsive and versatile deephouse beauty.
B2-Rhythm Poser (w&p by Sello)
'Rhythm Poser' A gloriously deep and athmospheric jam, that flows perfectly. The well-chosen minimalistic use of versatile elements are generating pure deepness and emotionality. With the A Side marking an organic and sample-based take, while the B emphasises a more electronic feel, the diversity and quality at work ensures this will be another celebrated TFQ release !

Original Double Vinyl Reissue with a Gatefold Cover and CD in 4-side Digipack Love In A Black Dimension was Jestofunk first album originally released in 1994 and Is still their most successful album ever.
Love in a Black Dimension has surely been a source of inspiration for many artists that cam out later in the international dance scene and more and still today the Tracks contained in the Album are a must in DJ's playlists all over the world. After the excellent worldwide results achieved by the first two singles, I'm Gonna Love You' and 'Say It Again' the formidable production team (Claudio Moz-Art Rispoli, Alessandro 'Blade' Staderini and Francesco Farias) decided to produce their first full Album and thinking about a great singer that could feature and give voice to their songs decided to get in touch with one of the most important House Music vocalist of that period, Mr CeCe Rogers.
The Single that was first released to launch the album was 'Can We Live', sung by Cece, and immediately became a hit in
all the clubs around the world and at the same time establish itself as a classic of the genre. Jestofunk moved in directions unprecedentedly experimented, styles like the fusion between Funk And House Music, contaminated with Acid Jazz, a genre that was going very strong during those in years.
Acid Jazz became very Popular, thanks to artists such as Incognito and Jamiroquai. In the album, besides the three singles mentioned, other big dancefloor tracks featured, like that splendid version of Donny Hathaway's The Ghetto, with Fred Wesley and his magic trombone solo, which is still one of the cult songs of the World-wide Acid Jazz scene.

For all of his life Berlin based musician Drei Farben House has been thrilled by the artistic concepts of repetition and modifying resemblances. Small but precise and perceptible variations of (musical) themes have been fascinating him throughout his life as a lover of dance-infused Pop. The artistic concept of handwriting has been questioned in the world of fine arts with some justification, but Michael Siegle aka Drei Farben House has remained a strong advocate of this artistic principle which in his view has resulted in so many impressive musical expressions in the history of Soul and Disco --reference points which have been particularly important to Siegle's creative work. The album's sleeve shows the 'Doris and Norman Fisher House' in Hatboro (a suburb of Philadelphia) designed by Louis I. Kahn from 1960-1967. Kahn, based in Philadelphia and one of the most influential architects of the twentieth century, was already in his sixties and progressively getting famous around this time for his sensitive combination of concrete and brick in larger scales. The almost spiritual sensibility of his buildings and his poetry of light created deep, fundamental connections between the spaces and their inhabitants. New Release Information "Every building must have . . . its own soul", this famous quote of Kahn can easily be seen in the modest and wonderfully warm Fisher house which consits of two intersecting cubic volumes created from cedar wood - finished at the same time when only twenty miles away the newly founded Sigma Sound Studio recorded the Delfonics first record, installing the basements of Philadelphia Soul which was later leading to Phillysound, Disco and House.
Great audiophile pressing of 2 sought after Cosmic Disco tracks on this re-issue pressing. The Violence won't stop is pressed for the first time on a full 12'' side. The original Albatros release was only pressed on a 7''. The rare and obscure Space Art track on the B side goes for around 0 on the bay. Limited edition of 300. Don't sleep
