Following their euphoric live return to London last month, The Very Best have announced new single, 'Sweka' to be released on a limited edition remix 12' via Moshi Moshi.

The 12" will include remixes from Prins Thomas and Joshua James, and will be limited to a run of 300 copies only.

'Sweka' comes from their latest record, 'Makes A King', which came earlier this year via Moshi Moshi.

Recorded in lead singer Esau Mwamwaya's homeland of Malawi, 'Makes A King' has been praised as their most ambitious and richly textured album to date.

Imagine there is a seven-headed rythmic beast with a percussionist, drummer, bassist, keyboardist, two horn players, and a DJ up on the stage embracing the musical totality of the world without any folklore kitsch, its subtlety and urban club grooves crossing various divisions in musical genre. Feindrehstar is standing on the stage. The studio recordings of this unique Jena-based band have long been known to capture the live energy of their onstage performances. And now Feindrehstar presents their second album named - Love & Hoppiness - fve years after their brilliant debut - Vulgarian Knights . A lot has happened in the meantime: countless club and festival gigs, an inspiring African tour as well as countless hours spent working in the studio. - Love & Hoppiness matured over three years, a musical puzzle that was composed at different locations - the frst recordings developed in the fall of 2012 with Michel Baumann (Soulphiction, Jackmate) and Nik Reiff in Stuttgart. Further overdubs with a trombone, violoncello, guitar and vocals followed at various home studios and conservatories. That's right, vocals have been brought onboard this otherwise instrumental band. Owing to these vocal tracks with Dave Aju, Ebo Taylor and Tina Keserovic on the microphone, Feindrehstar's sound continues to develop. Ashley Beedle returns to the Kat Records stable, this time on their 45 offshoot....

First up we have Flora Purim getting Ashley Beedle's extended edit treatment with the sublime Latin Jazz Funker Angels. Great vocal hooks, guitar licks and a jazz funk groove with added disco overtones to boot !...If the Mizell Brothers had been born in Rio then this is what it probably would've sounded like.

On the flip we have Brian Protheroe's Pinball. A lost psychedelic pop classic which got to no.22 in the charts in 1974. A staunch Ashley Beedle fave with his tripped reworking doing exactly what i says on the tin... Dubbed, stretched, spaced out and arranged to perfection. Great !

Wir feiern die fulminante Rückkehr von Hip House. Für eine solche standen die Zeichen schon seit einiger Zeit sehr gut. Denn jener mitreissende Sound, der Ende der Achtziger House und Hip-Hop verbrüdert hat, setzt schließlich immer noch die Tanzflächen in Brand und sorgt dort für herrlich unkontrollierbare Schübe von Euphorie. Für "Work It Out", die erste Single ihres neuen Albums "Behind The Masks", haben sich Snuff Crew mit einem der Pioniere und bekanntesten Vertreter des Genres zusammengetan: Tyree Cooper. Der ist nicht erst seit seinem großen Hit "Turn Up The Bass" weltweit erfolgreich. Bei "Work It Out" zeigt er sich nun wieder in Bestform. The sleepy seaside town of Sligo, based on Ireland's Atlantic coast, seems an unlikely location to base a deep house label. More remarkably, this debut 12" from Sligo-based Splendor & Squalor comes from two residents of the town: longtime DJ buddies and hip-hop/deep house fusionists Brame and Hamo. It's a strong first outing, with each of the three original cuts coming doused in smooth soul and hip-hop influences. That's means beats that swing, sensual strings, chunky bass and the kind of pads that seem to wrap themselves around your body. The duo's collaborative "Clockwork" - arguably the pick of the bunch - is also remixed by Session Victim (think ultra-deep goodness), while Hamo's sample-heavy "Soul" offers the perfect balance between smiling deep house and classic hip-house.

Shaun Escoffery, whose classic hits 'Days Like This' and 'Space Rider' are enjoyed by club goers worldwide, has returned to recording with the most successful album of his career. 'In The Red Room' features four radio hit singles 'Nature's Call', 'People', 'Nobody Knows' and the sublime 'Perfect Love Affair', all of which have hit the UK Airplay Top 50.

Blessed with a glorious Isleys/Curtis Mayfield falsetto, Shaun has long been one of the UK's finest
vocal talents. Since the release of the album he has appeared on Later...with Jools Holland,
Sunday Brunch, Songs of Praise and recently guested on a Burt Bacharach special from London's Royal Festival Hall (which is to be broadcast in December on BBC 4).

Now available to coincide with Shaun's performance at the 2015 BBC Radio 2 Live In Hyde Park concert is a new Special Edition of the album which includes his acoustic version of 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' - originally performed on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 and also performed on Later, with Jools Holland accompanying Shaun on piano.

Other additions are Radio Session versions of 'Days Like This' and 'Perfect Love Affair', together with producer Gil Cang's Disco mix of 'People'.

'Bridge Over Troubled Water' will be released as a single in November.

From his first recording with D-Influence at the tender age of 17, Shaun Escoffery has been one of the UK's finest vocal talents. Along the way he has enjoyed support from Elton John - who has hailed Shaun as one of his favourite new artists - and actor Idris Elba, one of his oldest friends, who has contributed a remix of 'Nature's Call'.

With an impressive career in musical theatre - from The Lion King (in which he has
been appearing as Mufasa for the past seven years) to Tommy and Les Miserables - Shaun has won many critical accolades, including an Olivier Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in the musical play Parade.

"Between Stars" is the debut album from Barcelona based Venezuelan producer and DJ Maurice Aymard. More than two years in the making, 'Between Stars' has been a labour of love for Aymard as he travelled the globe to collaborate with musicians and singers in Barcelona, Berlin, London and Venezuela who could help to bring his vision to life. Released on Aymard's own Galaktika Records (Garnica, James Teej & more), 'Between Stars' was recorded entirely live and features contributions from the likes of Brazilian star Gui Boratto, Columbian singers Andrea and Paulo Olarte, Argentian guitarist Mariano Godoy and many more, the resulting album takes the house music template and expands it to a grandiose level. In an age when anything that isn't packed full of buzzsaw bass and 'sick' drops gets labelled as Deep House, "Between Stars" is the real deal, and from the first bars of the albums opening (and title) track, 'Between Stars' quickly establishes itself as something truly special, a 'house' album that not only works as a coherent whole but sounds as good at home, by the poolside or in a club at 4am. If 'live' house albums have in the past had a tendency to verge on the polite, Aymard's skill as a producer and experience as a DJ keeps things rooted in club culture and nearly every track off 'Between Stars' deserves to find its way into DJ sets over the coming months. Rather than smooth things out the live instrumentation instead adds an energy to the tracks and the subtle touches, that the likes of guitarist David Rondon brings to 'El Final', lift the album up to another level altogether. Since moving from Venezuela to Spain and launching Galaktika Records, Aymard has become an integral part of the European house music scene. With releases on the likes of Berlin's Moodmusic, Hamburg's Einmusika and Denmark's Tic Tac Toe Records, and remix credits for artists such as Mario Basanov, Compuphonic and Combo, Aymard has built a reputation for delivering quality underground house music and with his debut album Aymard looks set to secure his position as one of the scene's most innovative artists.

Pure warmth and a deephouse beauty by East German arrangement perfectionist Jan Ketel. Including a not-from-this-world version by Rose Record's Luvless and a collaboration with his mate Siggatunez, Jan Ketel's Girliewood EP leads you to the warmer days and brings heat to the floor.
Starting with the title song, Jan Ketel introduces us to his understanding of deepness. A warm and thick pad wrapped into a filigree arrange ment of percussive high-drums, combined with an impulsive kick-drum, Girliewood builds a paralyzing intro. It develops to a first break, which emphasizes the deep groove to the point, when the kick drum comes back again. It becomes a very groovy and harmonic song, which builds itself up again. Added with well arranged keys and constantly moving drum elements, it gets to the point where it came from.
A2 is Luvless' slower version of Walking Away (B2), which could be described as a drifty but sedate floor-filler. Luvless uses a well collected drum set, containing a very pregnant dynamic and organic clap sound combined with a constantly playing murder bassline at the beginning. Step by step and in a well thought out way, main elements of the original enter the song to a part you could call the height. After that it comes to a long break, which prepares and makes you needing the last part. Luvless brings back the full effect and rounds up his version by minimizing it to a percussive end, containing that heavy bassline. It ends where it started and fits more than perfectly into the context of the whole EP. What a killer...thanks for that!
Over on B1 'Background' is a co-production with his buddy Siggatunez. Characterized by a dirty rhodes chord line and a very dynamic and constantly moving arrangement, it perfectly flows from the beginning to the end. In between, a lot of sample-work happens, which mainly includes a divided voice, a chopped piano-line and an electric key-patch and makes 'Background' highly melodic and harmonic.
Finally 'Walking Away' drives heavy from the beginning on. HVL is back on Rough House Rosie with a second solo EP. The tracks for this release were recorded in a strange surrounding far away from home and friends. This time everything is more darker, deeper and 'progressive'.

The 6th Copy of the black gold on Mimique-records comes with clenched Frankfurt / Oder power. After this statement, just two names are eligible for musiclovers, Marco Fender and Andy Kohlmann. The two are known for excellent releases on labels like Supdub, Lordag, Kol Mojito, Karateclub, Extrasmart and Damm rec. through which they put their skills to the test in recent years, now comes the next installment of the saga Fender & Kohlmann called "Flowkati EP". This Session Deluxe is made by our french friends Jules & Moss. These very sympathetic guys are one of the French artists revelations of 2011. Their tracks, released on great labels like Traum, Dirtybird, Supdub, Musik Gewinnt Freunde, Brise Records, What! What!, Monique Musique, Fantastic Friends. Moss possesses a funded, classical piano education and composing skills, first approved in Alternative and New Wave. On the other hand, Jules grew up with Rock and Jazz, started drums at the age of 5 and improved himself by playing drums and percussion in several bands. Together they develop several "Live Act" with electronic interfaces & electronic drums, playing them own productions, with wishes to compose with sound recordings by themselves or acoustic instruments.
Now they present four great, deep and catchy tech house tracks. All tracks are well produced and having a big groove. Jules & Moss are using a lot of different elements, some more housy, then a bit minimal. That completes a great package with four original dance floor tunes.
The remix is made by Berlin`s Jens Bond. Jens is well known from his releases on Highgrade, Sender and many more famous labels. His remix is a real bomb. A bit more straight on than the original. Vocal snippets and classical house elements are giving that tack a very special mood. Great Job by Jens!

CT-HI confirms itself as a consistent musical collective exploring different sound platforms. Spacey and future atmospheres, detroitian boogie flavours, and raw/solid drum patterns.

Jazz Madicine's (the duo formed by turbojazz and parker madicine) "M.A.S.H" is a killer track, full of jazz samples, powerful beats, rolling synth arps and a groovy bass.

Turbojazz with "DAT Soul", confirms his "fusion dance music" vision creating jazzy atmospheres with warm pads and progressive rhythyms. The characteristic moog bass sound gives the right feeling to the dance floor sweet- ened by the distorted notes of Rhodes piano.

Parker Madicine's "Exists" is a cosmic/boogie production enriched with progressive soul jazz chords, fragmented bass sounds and grainy fat drum patterns, with a chopped and interpolated jazz fusion sample.

DNN debuts on CT-HI with "Skunk Wave". A sharpie future beat full of deep frequencies, side chains and dreamy pads.

On the A side the Lovebirds remix of their new single Hold Back Love. Lovebirds has been one of the mainstays of the deep house scene with his killer single Want You In My Soul in many best of 2011 charts.

2015 looks like it could be the year that the Danes make underground dance their own. The long running Tartelet label changed direction last year and found a winning formula releasing the incredible Max Graef LP. You have Paxton Fettel slowly but surely building his name through some fine releases on Apersonal and Greta Cottage Workshop. Now it's the turn of Uffe to show us why there must be something in the bacon over there. Although now living and studying in Amsterdam, Uffe Christensen has already made some waves with his releases on Catz and Dogs label Pets, and an EP for Tartelet and so when a 6 track demo arrived in the inbox we were all over it. And it was a case of Uffe's sound is unique yet classic, taking the raw, disco influenced approach of Detroit luminaries Theo and KDJ but with a 2015 twist which sees him sitting comfortably in the ranks of exciting young producers such as Glenn Astro, Max Graef, Damiano Von Erkert and Ugly Drums.

Like You Mean It opens the EP with a suitably bold and confident groove, all lopsided cross-rhythm hats and off-kilter bass. This is seriously lo-fi gritty funk that has been getting a brilliant reaction on the dancefloor. The Detox comes next with more hip-hop influenced house beats where there isn't a quantized sound in sight but everything seems to fit together just perfectly. This one favors a deeper approach and keeps things very subtle and stripped back to the bare bones.

Flipping over we have Solid Satin (We Can Do Something) which goes percussion- heavy and treads a slightly darker path. Finally we have Good For You which closes the EP in fine fashion and shows Uffe work his magic on a low- slung deep masterpiece. Bending moog lines and dusty guitar samples sit on top of a raw house beat culminating in a track that sounds as fresh and timeless as it does classic and familiar.

Quality reissue of the mega-rare Blow Up records release of the Italo masterpiece Pink Footpath by Loui$. Originally released in 1985, this gem has become one of the most h ighly sought after Italo Disco tracks around. On the A side is Magic Dance which is good, but it's the instrumental version of the track Pink Footpath that really gets the disco DJs drooling. With its killer analogue b-line, dreamy synths and Balearic guitar riffs, it's easy to see why it became such an anthem at the early Ibiza parties as well as a late night favourite in Chicago and New York. Highly recommended.

In our corner of leftfield dance music, there are not many of our heroes that we haven't had the pleasure of hosting on Circus Company. From the early days of Ark and Akufen to Robag Wruhme, Deetron and Franck Roger, we are privileged to have welcomed some genuine legends onto our label, and now we are honoured to add another all-time great to the list; SoulPhiction. Michel Baumann has long been a steadfast measure of everything 4/4 electronic music should be, both as SoulPhiction and Jackmate and as a curator of Philpot Records. Coming up from the same hip hop roots that inspired Circus Co. in the beginning, he channels a sample-fuelled, jazz-inflected sound that would buckle under the weight of the soul contained within were it not for the strength and presence of his rhythm section. With the pair of cuts he shares with us, all aspects of his lifetime's service are represented in fine style. The Aside swinger 'Glitz' comes rocking in on the kind of kinky groove that tickles our limbs just right, taking time for the beat to settle before unfurling a sumptuous funk lick and a bittersweet vocal hook that tugs at the hips and the heart strings. Meanwhile on the flip 'Jinx' provides a futuristic acid treatment, laying out a rigid drum machine mantra and bubbling 303 as a backbone. Meanwhile starlit techno synths dart around the mix with a highly-evolved purpose that eschews any concerns about throwback house music - this is strictly the sound of tomorrow, as techno was always meant to be.

No stranger to the house scene, Kiko Navarro is a DJ and producer whose productions, remixes and edits have appeared on an impressive list of labels for many years.

Being a good friend of ours and always making us impressed with his productions we thought it was about time Kiko got a 12" to himself on Local Talk.
We are thrilled to be sharing the first Kiko Navarro EP on Local Talk, 'New Life'.

First up is Dope High, a raw, funked up and full of percussion that gets your head nodding, feet tapping and body moving. You could play this track on any sound system in the world and within 90 seconds Kenny Dope would be there smiling and making moves.

On the flip there's two versions of Nea Kameni.
First up is the Chicago house champ Glenn Underground. Glenn's early musical atmosphere was soaked in Jazz, Soul, Funk and Disco and this remix proves all that.
His 'Dance Fusion' remix is incredibly tight, soulful and uplifting. Music you’d expect from a true genius.

Finishing the 12" is the original mix of Nea Kameni - in it's original form perhaps best described as an end of the night track with it's dramatic build up, warm bassline, percussions and beautiful synth lines.

Kiko has created something that's both atmospheric and haunting at the same time. If you've ever searched for a track to play when the sun goes down, here it is. .

Bringing the virtuosity into contemporary dancemusic, two protagonists found themselves as being the new dreamteam of the scene: Thomas Melchior and Bruno Pronsato. And it works perfectly- Melchior, the perfectionist who always sets new standards regarding minimal house music and Pronsato, the scientist who discoveres the unheard and the unbelievable

Jonathan Moore, the man behind Leftside Wobble not only shares a name with the legendary Coldcut producer, but he's been involved with the underground music scene for almost as long.
Having started out at Paul Oakenfold's Project Club in the late 80's he went on to residencies at seminal house nights Solaris & Kinky Disco. The nineties & noughties saw him at the helm of a series of memorable club nights for Dazed & Confused magazine as well as regular appearances at the now sadly defunct Kings Cross establishments - The Cross, The Key & Canvas.


In recent years he's better known for his productions, edits and reworks he puts out under the Leftside Wobble banner - his rework of The Beatles 'Tomorrow Never Knows' was recently picked by Greg Wilson in his 'best ever' selection of edits/reworks. And his electric approach to music production has seen him commissioned for remix work for a diverse set artists including Bryan Ferry, The Temples, Detroit Swindle, Public Service Broadcasting, Ambient Jazz Ensemble and The Time & Space Machine.


x-cursions has been set up to celebrate the eclectic in dance music and specifically not be tied to any particular sub-genre. The first EP contains a classic Loleatta Holloway disco edit, an Ike & Tina Turner Balearic soul rework, and an electro funk track that harks back to the production style of Arthur Baker (already being supported by a diverse set of DJ's including Bill Brewster, Chris Coco, Kev Beadle and Justin Robertson). And the social media buzz is already cooking on these tracks, so far they've been favorited approx. 1500 times on Soundcloud and received approx. 20,000 combined plays.
