Instead the Rat Life man unearths three dark obscurities and further blackens their already sinister sounds.'Playground' by Click Click first came out in 1988. Sneaker maintains the tension, the steady and strained notes as vocals tell a tale of shrouded menace. Ralph Lundsten opens the flip, his 1970 track 'Through A Landscape of Mirrors' is bolstered with snapping rhythms, synths are smeared and wrenched as the twisted hand of Dunkeltier takes control. The last instalment, first released on Ant-Zen in 2006, is Geneviève Pasquier's 'Fairy Tale.' A gritty track of reduced industrial essences, the original has been extended and further muddied for ready-made dancefloor corruption.

Cologne based artist 'Adryiano' has finally threaded into label managing waters. Ever since the emerge of his multi functional platform 'Cestraw' back in 2011 Adryiano has been twisting and thinking on when to launch the label side of things. After the humble success of his latest "Down South" effort on Soul Notes it felt like the right time.

CR/001 turned out to be an emotive dance floor record that touches several different modes within the spectrum of underground dance music. It's an ever progressing improvised journey, the result of over forty shows played in the US, Europe and Asia. Charanjit Singh is improvising on the Jupiter, like he did on his proto-acidhouse album in 1982, and Thee J Johanz is jamming with the 808 and 303 like he used to do, back in the heyday of acidhouse.

We are really proud and honored to present ESPECTRUM, a year-long effort to put together a compilation of the best dub techno. The idea was simple, but ambitious: ask some of our favorite artists for one track to epitomize dub techno—the style of music we've loved and continued to develop since our birth as producers and a label. With a very precise idea of what we wanted to collect, the compilation was carefully built with hypnotic, obscure, dense, and magical sounds with an eternal hook. These are the kind of tracks that will never lose their appeal, because they go above and beyond labels, styles, and trends, resisting the passage of time. After the first tracks starting coming in, the idea grew more and more special, and the concept even stronger. We knew we were onto something really big. And, finally, here it is.

Grab-bag 12' EP of electro, IDM, breaks and house from Montreal via Ottawa producer Riohv (aka Braden Thompson), which follows up the similarly map-jumping 1080-released Moondance' cassette from back in 2014.Finding more confidence and proficiency in his own abilities as a producer, Thompson was able to have a lot more fun and subsequently revise and update his sound to reflect his own tastes in records. Not Waving's Ecstatic label catch Martin Jenkins (Pye Corner Audio) in Head Technician garb for a slippery set of slow, plasmic acid workouts that were originally issued on a super-limited tape,
and now sit heavy on wax.Over the years since he first mooted the PCA sound in 2010, Jenkins has used the Head Technician
alter ego as a sort of evil engineer Hyde analogous to his day-to-day Jekyll, a sort of hyperstitious studio partner in a time-honoured tradition of sleeve credits ghost chasing.
Where PCA's pieces may tend to be lustrous, optimistic, the Head Technician's Zones LP hems to the shadows of the 'floor with a furtive, noirish quality that works a treat in the right situations,
whether soundtracking gaslamp-lit raves or midnight street patrols seeking out ne'erdowells and laudanum dealers.
Fired on a classic trinity of Roland TR-606 drum machine with an MC-202 (a beast to program, he admits) and TB-303 to sequence his baselines, it clearly makes explicit reference to the early days
of Detroit techno and UK bleep 'n bass, but the vibe is more anachronistic, out-of-time, possibly thanks to his patented, lagging basslines and slowly unfolding arrangements, bridging that
imaginary, dilated gap between fuzzy dancefloor head melt and curtains-drawn next day gouch out.

Anonymous engineer Man Power delivers the Kiloton EP for Correspondant's 26th release, available in both digital and vinyl formats on 14 April 2014. The producer's recent contributions to the label, including a track on Compilation 02, feature corrosive riffs and irreverent stylistic mixing. Kiloton presents a tighter sound complimenting label signatures of

acid-laced, dramaturgical warm-ups and off-kilter body workouts.

Man Power opens Kiloton with Balearic beats and chugging 303 acid, summoning a Soca-style saxophone intervention, then stirring discordant synths into a sonic whirlpool. All sound is momentarily sucked into a silent plateau, before plunging back down to ride out the track with new momentum. In his outerworld rework, Hardway Bros' Brit Sean Johnston pitches down the original, swerving into low-slung 80s styling and leaving behind galactic static.

"Parenthesis" is built around samples from a '71 conversation between critical philosophers Chomsky and Foucault on the need for creative freedom in human labor. Man Power creates urgency around the tempered delivery of Chomsky's words with escalating, acid-drenched pulses, distorted echoes, and distended synths to simultaneously soporific and provocative effect.

British producer and DJ Raudive turns out a cold-blooded, high-octane rework of "Parenthesis". His minimalist composition puts a driving kick drum at the core, and the narrative is compressed down around the directive matrix of "Work" and the encircling echoes of "Repression - Oppression - Destruction - Coercion". Raw electricity jolts bones.

Volume 2 in Trax new re issue series "Chicago Trax", delves deeper into the archives to unearth more 'lost tracks' from the legendary Chicago house label.
Kicking off with "Dum Dum - Part 2" by Fresh (TX115 - 1986), following on from Part 1 which came out on Larry Sherman's Precision (named after his pressing plant) in 1984, and included a prototype version of what would become "Real Love" by Jesse's Gang. Its follow up, Part Two, produced by Jesse Saunders was just as basic consisting of bass, drums and the occasional squelch or stab.
Next up... Yes its him again - Farley Jackmaster Funk with "Give Your Self To Me" (TX116 - 1986). Featuring uncredited vocal performances from both Ricky Dillard and Kevin Irving, this is almost symphonic in comparison with some of Farley's previous foray's into the studio, possibly aided by the fact he utilised a producer, Danny Wilson, to finesse his efforts.
On the B side we start with Willie Wonka's "What Is House (TX122 - 1986). Dwayne Grant's name seems to have slipped off the radar, but this wasn't even his first release, having already recorded under the name Grant for Sherman's Precision the year prior to this. Unusually for some, "What Is House" is Linn drum-heavy and from memory, I believe this vocal comes from the producer reading an early piece written about Chicago house. Yet another underrated tune from the vaults.
Finally we have Radio Fashion "What You Deserve" (TX123 - 1987). An anomaly in the Trax catalogue, Radio Fashion would seem more at home an obscure Belgian label or even on Wax Trax! Although they did contribute to other house releases (like "The Jackin' National Anthem" on Hot Mix 5), vocalist Jim Romano turned up on a Die Warzau album in the early 90's doing background vocals.

Credit 00 strikes back with four cuts between Jungle Funk and sublime Party bombs. "Tribal Rhythm Machine" starts off with subtle but effective drumming that works on the dance floor as much as it could be the soundtrack to your road trip to Utopia. Then there is "Curse Of The Medusa", a pretty rumbling track that takes full advantage of its super-funky vocal samples and almost explosive percussion action. "Voodoo Soup" fishes in muddy waters with Credit 00's distinctive drum work and tribal sounds from outer space. The final track "Snake Charmer" is building things up nice and steady. But when the hypnotizing synth melody breaks ground neither serpents nor dancers can resist. The artwork was created by Alexander Dorn a.k.a. Credit 00 himself.

hot new edition for 2012. Thanks again to Solomun (Diynamic, Supernature)
for another brilliant remix work. Kolombo takes it back to the oldschool days
with a deep work and a real 303 acid edit. Overall a superb must-have

Since his last full-length, Ode, Tin Man, AKA Johannes Auvinen, has taken a collaborative approach to acid, bringing his 303 box into studio scenarios with Cassegrain, John Tejada, AAAA and Gunnar Haslam in order to explore new territory. On Acid Test 11, Auvinen's arrived on a seamless pairing with Manchester production duo Jozef K and Winter's Son. On the title track, Tin Man's acrobatic 303 no longer has to do the melodic heavy lifting-the Mancunians provide a sturdy yet plaintive piano base that allows a duet of acid lines to cut through the heady atmosphere. Interdimensional Transmissions boss Erika toughens things up considerably with her "Fate's Unknown" remix, stripping things back to a creepy, jacking core. "Pendle By Night" underlines the ad hoc trio's propensity for widescreen heft. The track's epic, emotional tone feels like a natural product of the collaboration.

"Funkin' With The Drums Again" sees the legendary producer and WBMX disc jockey Farley "Jackmaster" Funk turning in some absolutely killer jacking drum tracks, Chicago style. Each track is an essential DJ tool that has it all, Italo Disco inspired bass-lines, skittering drum machines, eerie analog synthesizer melodies and of course, Farley's trademark percussive vocal stabs punctuating the mix.

Originally released in 1985 the tracks featured on "Funkin' With The Drums Again"still pack a punch now in 2014, the record is a document from the initial first wave of Chicago House records and has that raw edge that so many contemporary producers are still inspired by 20+ years later.

Re-mastered, re-pressed and re-issued in conjunction with the rights holders and complete with original Trax Records label artwork.

"Farley Knows House"

I Walked by Night is a new label created with the ethos that comes from the foundations of any good resident DJ, that of good selection. Label boss Krysko, who has held residencies for over 16 years, brings his experience to his new label.The debut release comes from Tristan Grace, a UK based artist (Aliases - OE & Prime Time Crew). Raised propping up record store counters on the South Coast since his early teens, now lives pretty isolated from current club culture. Nothing beats being in the storm of a dance floor, but being able to step away from the pull and draws of the scene allows him to diarise his Occupational Exposure through trax.Inspiration from the motor city and acid sound lies at the heart of what he does. Influenced by rolling green hills, and surrounded by the analog soul of his machines - he has an addiction to vintage machines of Asian origin, valves, and it's fair to say, he lives his life in 16 step sequence. The Furse E.P moves across the width of his sound, and this being his debut release on I Walked by Night, there will be many more to come.

Najem Sworb brings us the thirty-fifth edition of Wolfskuil Records adding the Strasbourg-based artist to it's roster. Previously releasing on labels such as Clone Basement Series, Technorama, Metis Recordings and the now defunct Ai Records, Najem Sworb has been transforming through various genres of techno since his debut release in 2007.

Rad.Velc EP brings us 4 original tracks playing upon the themes of house and techno. 'K-159' opens the EP with a fierce relentless bass and squeaky pads ending in a harmonic disarray while 'K-166' follows in a smiliar suit rather with a dub inspired rhythms. On the flipside, Najem Sworb switches up the vibe with 'K-abL' which illustrates the artists more house influences with mystical synth lines. However, 'K-177' demonstrates his knack for techno, delivering an explosive device fit for the dance floor. Together in all four tracks Najem Sworb shows his expertise in unique synth work providing a quirky cadence to his beats.

A1, Chris Mitchell "T.C." After a quieter 2015 Chris Mitchell returns with the a more serious tone. Chris starts the ep with a house tempo grinder as a growling bass morphs over an intricate 505 pattern. Vocal samples and keys emerge to carry the track along until a sinister string tone arrives.


A2, Retrograde Youth "One Last Try" Medellin's exciting new artist follows up his premier on Delta Funktionen's radio matrix with a dark storm of rugged drums draped in extraterrestial synth tones. A hard snare punctuates a curtain of intensity that consistently morphs into more warped territories.

B1, DJ Nephil "Bipolar Disorder" Nephil picks up the pace here as we are introduced into this cut with an arpeggiated synth pattern seemingly contained in a deep hall with a background vocal in some distant form. In stylistic form with the rest of the EP Nephil continues with an active and agressive drum pattern as the palette expounds with high pitched synth fx and midrange synth lines.

B2, Vault "Up Through The Concrete", newcomer Vault hails from Knoxville, TN, home other intriguing artists like Grey People, Alex Falk and Will Azada. Vault brings the most energetic offering to the EP. EBM inspired high tempo drums slice a furious arpeggiation. Vocals add the most hypnotic layer along with some synth lines that build tension throughout. The perfect climax for this rough and subterrainian EP.

After coming with a pretty great electronic soft jazz number on the first release, Distant Works begins to define the mission behind the label with the second offering-a synth, Italo-esque 5-cut EP that would only come from somewhere in the Netherlands these days. First release comes from Daniela La Luz itself, introducing her dancefloor diversity to their new bornlabel. Waveforms are not only a mathematical law, waveforms are everywhere, in all sections of everyday life,
in light and in sound. Parallel is one of the many parallel universes out there, living and believing in variety, whilst pointing onto respect for various life forms. We do what we love.

Ephemeral's debut on Helena treats us to three deep originals, offset by a characteristically storming XDB remix on the flip. MOLECULAR and CIRRUS combine gritty textures, half-heard phrases, pulsing bass and cyclical synth and acid lines into the kind of meditative sound experience familiar to fans of Plan B or Underground Quality - but here, and especially on AMMONIA, overlaid by the distinctly dubby feel of drizzly afternoons spent at Ephemeral's home in the Midlands. XDB, true to form, grabs the latter track and sticks on some serious afterburners, setting controls for a revved-up voyage across the surface of some distant planet.

GLENN UNDERGROUND takes us on a TB303 journey with lush ambient chords & spacey rhythms on "BATTERY ACID" with an added raw dub edit on the flip. "MR HEARD" is a tribute to the Master Of House Music LARRY HEARD. Super limited (only 50 copies) advance color vinyl copies (in paper sleeves but with full color labels).

Butane's Alphahouse imprint kicks off 2015 with Pablo Inzunza's 'Convenience' EP, featuring three original cuts from the Chilean artist and a remix from the label-founder himself.

Pablo Inzunza is a Chilean DJ and producer most notably known for his recent long player on Butane & Someone Else's Little Helpers imprint, but also acknowledged for material on Germany's Highgrade, and French imprint Monique Musique. Inzunza has explored an array of organic and abstract Techno styles across the early stages of his career and here we see him push on with more powerful dance floor focused cuts via the Alphahouse imprint.

The original mix of title cut 'Convenience' opens things up here and sees Inzunza employ a hypnotic 303 hook as the driving force, while ghostly synth textures flutter away in the depths of the composition and sparse rhythms further fuel its undulating groove. 'Hypnotica' follows and as the name would suggest lays its focus on an entrancing, percussion and pad-led groove, which subtly unfolds over its five and a half minute duration.

Opening up the flip side of the release label-head Butane offers up a tougher, heads down take on 'Convenience', treating us to his typically rough and ready production style with gritty drum lines laid over the original's squelchy 303 lick. Then finally to round things off we have the third and final original from Pablo entitled 'Intimate', which takes on a more house tinged aesthetic this time with organic percussion, sweeping synth stabs and stuttering bass tones.

This is the second release from London producer/DJ and Apron Regular Shamos. "Games and Dreams" is the the follow on from his debut record "Road Works Part 1", carrying the same rawness, but with a bit more wisdom...

This will be the last Apron release of the year, so it makes sense to end the year the way we started. With a Shamos record...

Josefine Hellstrom Hansson debut track Water Cave on HMWLAreceivedADJ support fromAIlario Alicante,Robert Babicz, Piemont, Slam, Paco Osuna, Horse Meat Disco, Nick Warren, Gabriel Ananda and Ame andAwent straight to Beatport Deep House top 10 when released on a HMWL compilation in late 2015.

Now the Malmo-based producer and DJ readies a three track techno / house EP on HMWL's vinyl sublabel Heartbreak Records. On A-side alongside Water Cave Josefine offers a peak hour techno weapon called Sensus. On B-side we find the smooth melodic Volcanics at 118 BPM while fellow swede Martinez deconstructs Sensus into a jazzy, mellow piece of minmal tech.

Despite his artist name and his trademark sound, Steve Murphy does not come from Chicago, but from Mira, a little town on the suburban area of Venice.

Steve has been djing since 2001, and in the past years has been rocking almost every club in his region. He is serious and professional behind the decks: playing only with vinyl, he blends electro and house, techno and new wave, acid madness and pop appeal.

Steve has produced together with Die Roh an album ("The Chasm") and one e.p ("Windy City") on Chiwax, and a solo 10" ("Planet Earth") on Rawax, these records have quickly gone out of stock and that have been acclaimed by the lovers of the classic Warehouse sounds.

In 2012 he has started the Riviera project and has founded the Muscle Records label, together with Lucretio, Dj Octopus, Caio, Madì Grein and Chevel. The label is a facility to spread what has been called "the sound of Brenta": a raw, nasty, machines powered clash of house and techno. In 2012 he also released "The Dove Ultimatum" on Vae Victis Records, under the moniker of Durant: an unfriendly 12" of distorted electro and funky acid beats produced with Die Roh and Lucretio.

As the summer comes to a close, ItaloJohnson releases its fourth release thereby urging party people to get in the dancing swing once again.
On the long recorded side, you'll find a progressive house track that can be hardly surpassed in any type in its directness. An unfussy arrangement, a straight oppressive subject and a low flying breakdown compose the A-stamped side.

Space Cucumbers contains a wealth of expression with Italo disco arpeggiators, seldom heard time signatures, Hi-NRG, and bass heavy electro funk. Featuring the usual aquatic tendencies mixed with echoes of darkwave. Vintage analogue strings, overdriven acid and Upton's favourite drum machine all make an appearance riding on his signature funk laced arrangements.

The fallen angel. The rebellious soul expelled from the pearly gates and forced to live in hell among mere mortals for eternity. Here they endeavour to condition and corrupt everything around them, a bold middle finger aimed in the direction of its former home in the promised land. Now imagine a soundtrack to this tragic tale. FunkinEven—also known as Steven Julien— has made just that with his debut album Fallen.

Split into two contrasting chapters, Fallen follows the trail of our main character. The first six songs introduce us to utopia, a collection which is matched by the light and airy tones of this initial set. The twist comes right down the middle, where we descend into the project's darker, hellish bogs. Both episodes intertwine seamlessly, and all composed, written and produced by Steven himself.

Julien plays the majority of the instruments you hear on the record, using session musicians — including three appearances from Hercules on bass — sparingly to plug any gaps. All the above choices combine to emit a contagious warmth that blankets the whole record. Within the dozen tracks, he jumps between everything from jazz fusion to techno. It's easily his best work to date.

Steven Julien first surfaced in 2009 with a refreshing sound unlike many of his contemporaries. While his peers flirted with R&B, abstract grime and whatever else, Julien forged his own path, one which partnered an organic, analogue sensibility with the sounds of electro, '80s funk, and acid. Initially affiliated with the Eglo camp, he eventually formed his own label, Apron Records, which has become a reliable outlet in its own right, not only for his own workings, but also as a home base for talents like Seven Davis Jr and Greg Beato. He's also proven to be an avid collaborator over the years, having worked with Fatima, Delroy Edwards, and, most notably, Kyle Hall, with whom he creates the unapologetically raw sounds of FunkinEvil.

Witnessing the enthusiasm and the positive response of the crowd while building these pieces into tracks on stage, the heartwarmed duo decided to go back in studio and record these sections one by one.
The result of these recordings is an uplifting four tracks EP floating between acid lines and stabbing synth chords that the two producer have the secret.

Rubber is new label from The Hague with a motley mixture of off-radar electronix for both the experimental clubber and home listener. Rubber001 is a bold three-tracker. Mannequin Records head-honcho Alessandro Adriani hits the nail on the head with his secret weapons. Secondly, reigning from Finland, 0.5W pans across the room like running with titanium scissors. The cherry on top is this piece of Dutch drum-laden ''poetry'', probably on illegal medication, about a bicycle mechanic from The Hague by legends Unit Moebius, Reverend Cor Gout and Salo Mentale. All on 180 grams of white vinyl in a white jacket.

Roman Debnar with the 3 in his oxymoronic "Anonymous" releases. "Jeckle" is up first, with it's deep analog bassline joined by upbeat techy beats on a minimal tech-house groover. "Crunchy" changes gears with some driving techno that really does sound like the previous track sped up to 4 and then thrown into some filters! On the reverse, "Doors Of Perception" is a textured techno soundscape, with minimal beats and haunting synths the main features. After the brief tweaked out vocal twists of "Anonym (The One Who Is Anonymous)", "Lost Tango" goes back to the floors with some bass-driven tech-house grooves, joined by crisp beats and dubbed out synth lines.

'When we say 'live in the future' it becomes a repudiation of living in the present, and then instantly we are in a state of denial' 'Denial' has a hypnotic effect on the mind. Gutsy 909 claps work with percussion and futurist vocal snippets that warp and chop, whilst haunting chords wrap themselves and sublimate over the body. 'Denial' wants you to 'live in the future", denying the present moment. Yet the music speaks in the present. To close your eyes, find yourself; lose yourself in the moment and groove. Whilst it still retains the hypnotic, evocative factor of the original, Wink's trademark 303 bubbles its way in, providing more peak-time oomph. The 'Tweak Dub' is a raw interpretation of the original, heavily focusing on the swing and drive of the magnetic groove with trippy tweaks of analog synth sequences drawing inspiration from his Chicago luminaries. Josh Wink is a quiet expert of metaphors within music. Of music that invites you to forget your thoughts and let the music do its work. 20 years ago he released 'Higher States of Consciousness', a record that portrayed and shaped dance culture at that time. Since, he has released music including 'I Am Ready', 'Don't Laugh', 'Oakish', 'When A Banana Was Just A Banana', 'Balls' and last year he released the intense game-changer techno anthem, 'Talking To You', a record that hasn't left DJ's boxes and has forthcoming a remix package from Adam Beyer and Matthew Dear. Wink is a producer who works ahead of trends and always stays true to his passion of the music itself, with integrity at the forefront.

Following PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED - the critically-acclaimed run of nine 12' vinyl EPs released this summer over 9 weeks by Trevor Jackson's much loved PLAYGROUP - a Limited Edition Double CD (and Digital Album) of highlights from the vinyl will be released on December 2nd, via Yes Wave records. The music featured is a collection of reworked demos and unreleased recordings. A hedonistic mix of raw Disco, Dub, Funk, Electro, New Wave & Post Punk that still sound as relevant today as they did when initially recorded for the debut PLAYGROUP album during 1997 - 2001. The sold out run of 'PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED' vinyl has been supported by numerous DJs including Four Tet, James Murphy, Gilles Peterson, John Talabot, Optimo, Pedro Winter, Heidi & Laurent Garnier. Several of the tracks were freshly re-edited and tweaked with the assistance of Sasha Crnobrnja from In Flagranti. Ed DMX lends a helping hand on one track, two feature the vocals of Mike Z from the seminal new wave band Crash Course In Science, and a young Kieran Hebden (AKA Four Tet) plays guitar on the album's final number.

I started writing demos for what eventually became the Playgroup album at the start of 1997, after an extensive period producing recording and remixing dark hip hop based tracks as The Underdog. I consciously wanted to move in a different direction combining influences from my youth along with inspirations from the foundations of club music, that were barely written about seriously in the mainstream media at the time', explains Trevor. Inspired by the hedonistic early days of house, disco, post punk, no wave, electro and dub, these tracks reflect a unique moment in time. The emergence of underground club culture in New York, London, Chicago, Paris and Northern Italy was driven by pioneering DJs playing a wildly diverse soundtrack to a passionate, dance driven and open minded audience. A sensory overload of chemicals, bass, smoke, sweat, sex and danger, a testament to the non-air conditioned, non-i-Phone infested and non- corporate clubbing days of yore.'

PLAYGROUP'S self-titled debut album was released on the Virgin affiliated Source label back in 2001, then re-issued on Trevor's own Output recordings label in 2003. It received overwhelmingly positive reviews, with Mojo stating there will be few better albums this year' and The Face calling it a shuddering amalgamation of risky disco, punk-funk and early house vibrations'. Rolling Stone described perfect incandescent pop funk' whilst XLR8R dubbed it a concept album that does that rare thing - actually delivers'. Featuring Kathleen Hanna, Peaches, Gonzales, Edwyn Collins, KC Flightt, Rowettea, Roddy Frame, Dennis Bovell and Shinehead, the album played a key part in the rediscovery of modern dance music's foundations rooted in the 80's underground - something that still powerfully reverberates today.

Trevor Jackson has been working at the forefront of audio and visual culture for over 20 years. The London based Creative Director, moving-image maker, producer and DJ's work includes countless classic record covers, and has been exhibited at prestigious international galleries/museums like the ICA, the Barbican, and the Guggenheim. Jackson's iconic Output Recordings label ran from 1996-2006 and helped launch the careers of Four Tet and LCD Soundsystem. Trevor has released a released a 'DJ Kicks' album for !K7 and produced/remixed Metronomy, Massive Attack, U2, The Cure, Tiga, Run DMC, Soft Cell and Dinos Chapman. He has created award-winning artwork for Soulwax, been commissioned to create audio visual works for major brands like BMW, Lexus and Coca Cola, and continues to work as an art director, designer and film maker - most recently for XL recordings signing POWELL and US beat-maker Clams Casino.

'PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED' follows the success of last year's multi-edition album release 'F O R M A T' via The Vinyl Factory and media praise his 'Science Fiction Dancehall Classics' On-U Sound compilation, and the 'Metal Dance' series for Strut.

One of a series of limited represses on colored vinyl for the 20th anniversary of MATHEMATICS. STEVE POINDEXTER presents ANDREAS GEHM. It is with a heavy heart but a deep appreciation of the artistry of the late German producer that we re-present his first EP on MATHEMATICS - this time a limited colored vinyl pressing. "MY SO CALLED ROBOT LIFE" is a modern deep house masterpiece!

DEXT Recordings is a brand new label kicking off with an EP from dubspeeka complete with remixes from Apple Pips boss Appleblim and Aus artist Komon and it's a bit of a Bristol affair.

dubspeeka, the elusive Bristol based producer who has released on Oliver Huntemann's Ideal Audio, Waveform and has remixed for Evolution, is sure to become big news in 2014, especially once the world gets to hear this new EP.

Opening track 'Leaving Home' is a dark and broody affair with thick basslines, eerie pitch shifted voices lurking in shadows and plenty of spangled synths wrapping around it from start to finish. 'Special Occasion' is then a fulsome, swaggering house track. The drums are bulky, the percussion is crisp and the chords rattle with plenty of menace.

Next up, 'Creature Funk' again fuses elements of house and bass into a skipping track that sways to and fro as siren like tones survey the bleak horizon. It's arresting, strangely funky stuff that sound like little else.

Komon & Appleblim have teamed up many times before now, for both remixes and originals, and here the pair refix 'Creature Funk' into a nimble, supple bit of grainy but bulky techno that skips and scrapes with a real late night and underground swagger.
Komon then remixes 'Leaving Home' on his own and turns it into a reflective and pensive bit of house with nicely shaped synths off in the distance as infectious percussive slices churn out a pattern in the foreground.

dubspeeka's production is fresh and filled with plenty of personality and all three tracks here are likely to become seriously highly rated weapons for DJs in the know in the coming months.

The term Cosmic classic has been banded around increasingly in the last decade, with its modern disco retake, thankfully, soon running out of steam. However, in Michael Chapman's Lescudjack we see the genius of Daniele Baldelli in finding obscure records that do not fit the traditional dance floor and making them work. So how does a former art and photography teacher turned singer-songwriter from the 60s folk scene end up making a discernable leftfield track that was a underground hit in the late 70s Italian club scene After a series of successful albums for the Harvest label, things started to change tack when Chapman signed for Decca and released the 1973 Milestone Grit album. Mixing his oft-gloomy writing with some lively instrumentals, this semi-experimental work was a sign of things to come.
By the time he released the Life On The Ceiling album in 1978 a pattern had emerged. The fact one such instrumental was then chosen for release a year later as a 7' and subsequent limited 12' was all the more surprising. Here then Lescudjack finds it's way to the infamous Mr Baldelli and it's place in the Cosmic greatest list and it's easy to hear why, with the Celtic influenced acoustic and electronic guitar interplay riding atop an almost rudimentary mid-tempo phased electro-beat and claps.
Derived from the Celtic words for shielded stronghold, the roots of the song are apparent, however, by utilising a modern electronic backing track, the song becomes something else altogether.
At just over 2 minutes long this oft-kilter guitar cut was always ripe for reworking and who better than DJ and producer Lexx to provide an extended edit. Almost doubling the length, loops, echo and fx push the original higher, meeting modern DJ needs while respectively allowing Chapman's brilliant playing to remain at it's heart.

Limited 7" release of Axel Boman's Fantastic Piano (taken from the upcoming album Family Vacation) with an exclusive Dungeon Acid remix on the b-side! Axel Boman broke through in 2010 with his Holy Love EP, released on DJ Koze's Pampa Records. The track Purple Drank became an instant classic in underground house music circles - since then, Boman has toured extensively while releasing original productions and remixes on labels like DFA, Hypercolour, Kompakt, Permanent Vacation and Ovum, as well as on Studio Barnhus, the label he runs together with Kornél Kovács and Petter Nordkvist. Family Vacation, Boman's debut album, arrives on Studio Barnhus on November 11 2013. 'I decided to go through the vast collection of ideas and sketches I had on my computer, as a final project before I set that machine on fire and let it all go up in flames. Kind of like what Lee 'Scratch' Perry did with The Black Ark in Kingston in the 70's. A friend says the album sounds like 'weird Jamaican space disco' so maybe it's a fitting reference', says Boman himself. Axel Boman's music has also been described as 'raw and playful house music drenched in oceans of soul". He graduated with a master's degree from Valand School of Fine Arts in 2010 and currently lives in the calm and peaceful Stockholm suburb Gröndal
