fter his excellent and well-received Coded Emotion EP on the MOS label in late 2011, analogue fetishist Perseus Traxx returns for another MOS outing...

It finds the producer in similarly classic mode, exploring the deep down depths of house and techno in his own fuzzy and hugely atmospheric way. 'Gorgon' has widescreen synths, tightly coiled synth lines and jagged beats all tussling with each other, whilst 'Poseidon's Monster' is about chattering claps hanging above a synth line that twists and turns, implodes and explodes at whim. It's focused and forceful at the same time as sounding some how human.
On the flip, 'Return To Seriphos' is another dense soundscape, but one that invites you into its core thanks to the freeform analogue lines, contrast of rough with smooth and generally classy Chicago vibes. 'Stranger Shores' is less troubled and more reflective with bright melodic chords glowing from the centre of the track as warbling, swollen sub undulates all around them. This is music for dancing to, but also music in which to lose your mind as you travel a world away from here: textbook MOS.

Both guys like the power of the synthesizers, the real and warm sounds, the noises of working machines and the little mistakes. This EP is a tribute to their favorite toys and the first coincidence of two talented and open minded artists.
A1 : Fractures :
The first track of this EP fuses a straight beat of old school drummachines with a warm synth chord. A soft acid line slowly occurs and creates huge energy in combination with the interaction of drums and the evolving chord. This is their personal homage to the sound of Detroit, but always with a link to more modern spheres.
A2 : Floating :
The second track takes you on a journey, which is powered by a strong bass driven beat, covered in a laid back symbiosis of dreamy piano chords recorded during a stormy autumn night. it creates a feeling of wellbeing and nervousness at the same time, which leads into a calming down break. This track combines the deepness, the eagerness to experiment and the love to analog sounds at its best.

t's been a long time coming for Goodwill Gumede. The South African singer and musician has been working on his material for over six years under the enigmatic moniker EnaWadan before finally exhibiting his productions to a worldwide audience (thanks to Sonar Kollektiv's signing). The spirituality of his alias (which means literally translated "I
am everything in anything") can also be heard in his creative output. His African background and heritage looms very large in his approach to produce contemporary dance music. But don't try to limit him to his sophisticated rhythm structures.

Daniel Helmer and Ben Manzone started making tracks as Sycorax back in early 2011. Since then they've self-released 2 in demand 12's. In the spring of 2012 they debuted their live all hardware set at The Bunker in Brooklyn. Their second 12" titled 'Orfamay Quest" was a top seller of 2012 at Halcyon Records. Mike Simonetti has known Ben from Sycorax for over 15 years, and is probably more proud of this release than any other to date. True underground sounds.

*Taking its title from one of Brassaï's famous sequence of prints, 'A Man Dies In The Street Pt.1' translates the eight snapshots of a man collapsing on a Parisian sidewalk (captured by Brassaï in 1932) into a chilling storyboard of subtle fluctuations, ebbs and monochrome tones. As ever the genius is in the reductive palette, that here Semsroth paints into a rich splay of emotions mimicking the initial anxious discovery of the body, the curiosity of the gathering crowd, the excitement and building anticipation through to an aggressive and pummelling sense of realisation on the close. But is it at the loss of life, or the loss of spectacle As Brassaï toys with ambiguity in his photographs, Sleeparchive's music is just as hazy, deep and full of shady nuances that, like treasure, only appear if you're willing to keep probing.

On the flip Marc creates another rich musical tapestry and he allows his off kilter drums and scattered sounds and fx a life of their own before pulling them together with metronomic mastery. Dramatic and suspenseful, 'Natural Spy' is the perfect soundtrack.

Django Django are pleased to announce that they will be headlining the legendary NME Awards Tour in February 2013. They will be supported by three more of the most exciting live acts around - Miles Kane, Palma Violets and openers - Peace. Django were also recently announced as the headline act on the Laneways Stage at next years Field Day - taking place on May 25 in London. In addition to this brilliant live news the band are treating fans to the release of a remix album of their Mercury-nominated self-titled debut LP. After some great records on Lunar Disko, Ireland's Automatic Tasty now arrives on Photic Fields. With this piece the label continues its way to put out deep emotion-drenched electronic music. Inspired by his beloved nature near his hometown, especially the Sugar Loaf, Tasty produced these introspective tracks. Pure analogue works, with beautiful chords and melodies. Although his influences are noticeable, AT has developed a sound that is completely his own, giving no attention to trends, ever-copying artists or useless genre-indications. This is not a man from the big city, but from some quiet place in Eastern Ireland. This EP includes four recent works by AT, and shows the variety of his productions. Recommended for Aphex Twin-fans, and even though that category is already pretty large, it's in fact recommended for everyone who likes their music melancholic yet uplifting.

The series starts with slow mo freaked out dance music from Serbia and moves on to space disco, freaked out emotional outsider house, and all the way back to wild African influenced electro dance beat. Hand picked by label head and music lover, Dj Speculator aka Willie Burns, the 3 part series will be a solid addition to any djs record bag and good enough to satisfy the collector as well.

She Sleeps is the second single from FaltyDL's coming-of-age masterpiece, Hardcourage, and perhaps the centrepiece of the album. The only vocal song on the full length, "She Sleeps" features a brilliant, haunting turn from the Friendly Fires' Ed Macfarlane. Mysterious, tender and reflective, his lyrics weave around the driving, purposeful percussion and a melody that's singularly exploratory and gentle.

The single comes with a remix package that more than does justice to the quality of the original. Holland's electronic pioneer Martyn has reworked the track into a writhing, muscular dancefloor stomp. Gang Gang Dance need no introduction, and their take on the song proves why once more. Lifting the inter beauty of the song to the fore, they've turned it into an opus of rich texture and uplifting, melancholic melody.
Ital is the solo moniker of Planet Mu's Daniel Martin-McCormick, and his remix takes things a touch darker and industrial edged, warping the melody into something altogether more ominous. Finally, exuberant London boogie-ists 2000Black have worked "She Sleeps" into a deep, hypnotic soulful groove

Remember when that Swedish guy at RBMA called Theo Parrish the saviour of house music Although Theo be the man, he was obviously talking complete shite. But he may have had a small point. In the past year we've been swamped by generic Chi-town carbon copies, none of it bad, but a lot of it rather pointless.

Thankfully there are more than a few labels doing there bit to present fresh-as-fuck and interesting machine music, and DABJ are riding shotgun with the best of them, just two releases deep! After the first face-melting, sell-out cuts from Jared Wilson and the mysterious Marquis Hawkes, DABJ are showcasing another shadowy newcomer in the form of VernoN for
their third slab of wax.

Frenchman VernoN has certainly slowed down the pace a touch on"Chicken Dance", but nobody ever said that was a bad thing. The E.P kicks off with "She Can Dance", a slow burning acid number that has elements of deep, grooving House from the Detroit school. In fact, the second cut "Low Control" bares the influence of Detroit too, with it's murky, dubbed-out chords ala Luke Hess moving into a punchy bassline with minimal but functional drum patterns. Proceedings get a bit more bouncy on "The Smoking Hat", a quirky acid romp on the less daft side of Ceephax, and the perfect soundtrack to accompany a feature-length documentary about.... a smoking hat.

Finishing up the E.P is Fudge Fingas remix of "Low Control", the only man qualified to make an already deep as fuck track even deeper. There's been some on-point criticisms about a lot recent deep stuff getting lost in noodly Jazz territory, but we're in no danger of that nonsense with Fudge Fingas at the controls: accomplished a musician he may be, he's never been one to lose the way, and this mix proves his deft and subtle remix talents. DABJ done done it again, and hopefully this is the first in a long line of productions from VernoN.

While a series of projects are slated for release under the Dirt Tech Reck banner, the first is the Electric Street Orchestra. Its inspiration is from those who are called street people. With a new alias, TM404, Andreas Tilliander has created enjoyable ambient dub simmering with life and details. The songs have all been recorded live, in real time in the studio. A unique way of operating within today's electronic music. - Everything is recorded in one take. Nothing is post arranged, says Andreas Tilliander, and adds that this might be his most ambitious album ever. The project's name is also a tribute to Roland, although of the more intricate kind. - When they made these machines in the eighties, they avoided the 404, since the sound for four, 'chi', is the same as the sound for death in Japanese. At that time it was therefore taboo and the 404 was never launched. Not until now, due to my album!

Sublevel Sounds, a sub-label run by DJ Spider, will be making big moves in 2013. To kick off the new cycle is this four-track remix project featuring tracks from DJ Spider alias Kuru's 'Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathy' LP from Summer 2011.
Starting things off is a beatdown styled remix of 'Draconian Hybrids' from Plan B Recordings co-boss Dakini9. Retaining the flavor of the original track but slowing it way down, this head nodder pulls you in with an organic breath loop underpinning Dakini9's keys over Kuru's original passes. The A2 brings you back from Dakini9's hypnosis with Black Catalogue label boss Monty Luke's take on 'House Cannibal.' This peak-time remix keeps the original's acid-y bassline and samples while adding layers of texture. Despite the layering, Monty Luke's production keeps the sounds well organized and clean, allowing you play this one loud!


The B side kicks off with underground darling Joey Anderson. With releases on Strength Music, Until My Heart Stops, Underground Quality, Soul People Music, and his own Inimeg Recordings, Joey is a hot commodity in the underground these days. His take on 'Black Moon Lilith' is a perfect representation of his production style: things morph and build until chaos threatens to overtake the track, but Joey never loses control of this strange little techno jam he's turned in for Sublevel Sounds. Closing off the compilation is Innerspace Halflife's version of 'Mobius Strip.' The production duo of Hakim Murphy and Ike Velez is getting lots of attention for their analog-based sound creations, and this remix shows us why: hats and percussion elements bounce all over the place while a fuzzy acid bassline and organic noises fill in the gaps.

The third 12" from the "FORGOTTEN ART" album begins with "SHILOH", a sick house music affair with a
heaven sent horn, a big bass, and subtle filters. "WE THE PARTY" on the flipside begins with an arpeggiated synth line and rolls in with
sweeping pads and a vocoded vocal hook.

After the success of the first release, Tanstaafl returns for their second wax adventure, this time with the musical renegade Dj October at the helm. October has entered a new phase of production for the TANSTAAFL series and has focused himself firmly on a reduced, stripped and effective formula for the floor. His productions are heavy, smoked out narcoleptic dub infused journey's, and his latest 12 offers more or less of the same opaque vibe but with his sights firmly set on the floor, with one foot in the past and the other in the future - drawing from his usual Detroit, NYC and Chicago influences. So we kick off 2012 with a future classic, 'Singularity Jump', which douses you in synthesized Saxophone hooks, chopped vocal samples and a meaty Juno Hip-House inspired bass-line. 'Planet Of Minds' is more of a inner space affair very much inspired by acid and dub. Successfully combining the two, October injects more of an airy feel into the mix and delivers a moody cosmic acid jam that will not fail your dancing feet or tripped-out mind. Definitely one for the later hours... This is going to be an anthem, hands down, so get it before it's gone for good.

Austere welcomes LAAK for the fifth Austere release. Expect the usual heads down, subterranean business!
Side A contains probably the most dance floor friendly track that LAAK have produced, Always True, with a solid bass line and 303 subtleties to get going. The second mix of it adds some classic chords to great effect. Flipside is for the underground heads, with a lush brooding track called Mixed Messages and a slo-mo burner Amor Meus closing the ep.

The Inspiration for this Ep came from the two producers risky trip to Zug Island. A Polluted toxic metal factory Isle shared between Detroit and Windsor Canada on the Detroit Rouge River. The sounds of this record are intended to sonically personify the environment of Zug Island and its harmful industrial vibrations it currently has on the river, wild life,and even the humans residing there!

Through their label Cocktail d'Amore, Discodromo and Boris offer you thefirst 12" from Studio Luce. Studio Luce is Berlin's newest musical collaboration bringing Franz Scala and Dimitri SoEmotional together to explore the sensitive pulse of dance music. Their roots are synth funk, 80's modern soul, new wave, electroand old school disco. The original track is called "Defender X" and can be described as a funktrack with a contemporary digital touch. Surrounding it, Toby Tobias andTuff City Kids (Gerd Janson and Lauer) provide their interpretations. While Toby develops his version in a 2-part remix made of dubby chord stabs, a deep rolling bassline and an excellent meticulous production,Tuff City Kids opt for a warm bassline, very tight drum programming, shimmering trancey synth and a catchy house-chords progression right tothe last breakdown. The latter also emphasize the rhythmic section for anadditional track called "drum remix" which pays tribute to Idjut Boysproductions including a lot of reverbs and reverse tape delays.

New Kanada enters the Fall 2012 season with some dark angular acidic house.
Black and Medley's "Roll The Dice" - featuring the voice of Rosina - is an old-school blend of disco, NY house and classic Toronto warehouse vibes. Slightly acidic, with it's bubbling Juno bassline - and slightly techno with the driving, repetitive beat - this house track should rock the deepest of dancefloors. File somewhere between Henry Street and early Adonis. 5am - no earlier.
For the flipside, Adam Marshall sits down at the controls for a clinical, tight, stripped-down scrubbing; turning the original into a late-night fear edit. Broken, diffused drums and lots of black empty space in this one. "The Lights Go Out - Blackout".

With this release the obscure but legendary börft records from Sweden starts releasing some interesting electronic dancemusic again (after some resting years). The new format is MiniLP, longer playtime than an average 12'' but still DJ quality! PEEL MD is first out with this acidios travell that will make no resting moments but powerfull cruel groovy acid mood... Through their common appreciation for acid-artists such as Phuture, Bam Bam and Unit Moebius, as well as artists of such diversity as Autechre, Eurythmics and Killing Joke, they started to blend these influences with their own respective styles to come up with the concoction that is Peel MD. This is their debut release on vinyl. Limited edition of 250!

Marc Romboy has been in the music biz for over a decade working behind the scenes on dance music labels such as Alphabet City, Terminal M or PSI-49-Net. His latest project is Systematic Recordings which he set up in 2004 and has quickly become one of the top electrohouse imprints.

Christian Smiths Tronic label enjoyed a fantastic year in 2011; persistently receiving plaudits from the media, scene tastemakers and the record buying public for the labels consistently first-rate output that consisted of a genre-blurring mixture of tech house and progressive flavoured techno floor-smashing grooves.
The ongoing game of producer ping-pong between Christian Smith and Marc Romboy continues with this latest match up happening on home soil for Tronic.

The pattern began with Romboy's 'The Overture', which surfaced on Smith's Tronic label last March together with a stunning Egbert remix. The rematch came in the form of Christian Smith's end-of-night smash 'Pitanga' on Systematic, which topped the Beatport techno, chart over the end of summer
2011.

With the score at 1-1 it is apt that the two long-established tech
heavyweights put aside their competitive streak and instead collaborate on this release with Smith remixing Romboy's fist-punching nu-school raver, 'Feelin'.

Needwant are very happy to welcome Kim Ann Foxman back for her second outing on the label after her great remix of Max Essa's How Do You Feel last year. The vinyl release features two interesting original tracks from Kim Ann along with remixes from Steffi and Populette.
With a prolific background in electronic music, including being a member of Hercules and Love Affair, Kim Ann is now focusing on a solo career. The next track from her solo push is Return It - House music on a dreamy, modern tip. Rich synth layers with Kim Ann's lush vocals providing a fittingly melodic counterpoint to the solid, jacking low end of the beat.
The second original track is Hypnotic Dance that hit you with hazy synths, rolling percussion and driving House bass lines. The beat builds in a slow crescendo to its peak when Kim Ann's vocal cuts through the layers and lead the melody forward. On the B-side, Berlin's Steffi injects a deeper Chicago flavour into her remix of Return It .
Steffi's acid influences are clear and provide a great backing for the vocal in this brilliant remix. New York's Brooklyn based Populette give their remix a modern feel and instil a strong sense of melody in the track with bubbling bass and synths that work magic on the dancefloor.
Another strong package from the dependable Needwant with strong support already way up front on Heidi's & Scream And Benga's BBC Radio 1 shows.

A brand new analogue melodic techno label is born from Tim Gaal (Adepth Audio) & Jack Wax. This first solo E.P. from Tim has an excellent warm remix package to offer and Tim is making a statement with this one ! Great warm synth paths & deep melodic sounds

Sys are three Nijmegen based producers with different backgrounds, but with the same great view on music, delivering underground techno/dub with great sounddesign, slow tension building drum-patterns and off-beat rhythms. 'Nocturnal' is a deep pulsating rhythm with some nice dubbed out chord elements building slowly until the drumbreak hits and lifts the track to a higher level. 'Monocle' is about a steady irresistable groove instead of building to a climax. Loose yourself in it's simplicity and get sucked in by the slick sounddesign happening in the background... On the flip Norman Nodge delivers a great acidic remix perfect for warm up sets, peaktime dancefloor action or early morning moments... Nice one again on Eshu!

Swiss producer ECHO 106 who 1st appeared on the "MUSIC FROM MATHEMATICS VOL 7" release sees an EP with 4 outstanding tracks. The title track calls upon the spirits of Chicago's jack past & is followed by "COPY INS DEL", a deep acid filled cut. "FROM BRUNNEN TO THE NILE" & "WAKAME STRINGS" bang da flip

Strictly limited (only 100 pressed) clear vinyl 1-sided white label 12"s featuring two upcoming remixes by VAKULA and OE. VAKULA's remix is a slick acid house groover with lush synths and a soulful, jazzy keyboard line. Sick! OE drops a moody house burner with some cool exotic breakdowns. Don't sleep on this!
