The reveries begin with a simple electrical hum - a starting signal for the appearance of a vibrant array of sound, shifting before us in seemingly random motion. Before we know it, all those pulsating melodies, razor-cut hifi-house beats and drunken robot jazz ensembles start forming into patterns, secretly & perfectly designed by one Art Alfie. A long time operator in Stockholm's small but insistent underground music scene, Oscar Wedrén broke through internationally in 2012 with the Karlovak project, founded with on-off studio and dj partner Rudolf Nordström, a.k.a. Mr. Tophat. The duo's inexplicably fresh takes on classic dance music tropes is as much a result of a brilliantly odd pairing of personalities as of a defined concept and a precise method in searching for the perfect house groove. While writing Reveries Of, released early spring 2017 through Studio Barnhus, Art Alfie freed himself of all conceptual footholds, delving instead deep into his archives of old and new memories and feels, working with improptu field recordings and emotionally-guided sampling processes. He came back with an intricate and personal debut album and he didn't lose his groove on the way.

Although it is not really their debut, GT003 unveils a new stage for the Sao Paulo collective and its eponymous label on their global endeavours, be it for the chosen source of material they offer or for the regal remixer recruited to enhance its flavours: Discosmic royalty Prins Thomas. Delving into the grooves we find ourselves amidst rhythms that rely heavily on the hypnotic power of an infectious bassline, powered by some greasy fingering responsible for the type of gravy that makes Brazilian cuisine world renowned. The flip is served by your Balearic Highness, designing one of his mind-bending journeys by turning the original flavours into a dense compound of molten polyrhythms and worldly spices. An earful of delights for anyone fairly interested in sensorial expansion with high concentration of musical content, what can easily be found when such diversity is sought after, as has been Gop Tun's mission throughout.

Public Releases hits the lab for some aural alchemy and to turn out its first release of 2017. A four-tracker from Moscow's Phil Gerus, Scenes—or, in the producer's native Russian, —manages to have a makeup that's both peculiar and magnetic.

The title's a fitting one; every track feels like a vignette in a collection of short stories. Separately, they're self-contained, but a rich narrative arch is added when they're sewn together. If there is a theme here, it's of viewing the future through the dusty lens of the past, and each of the songs explores this in its own fashion.

The kick-off, 'Ohashi Sky Garden,' starts as a hyped-up Italo space epic, pumped full of swirling synth licks and sharp, tight drums, but it mutates into something completely its own when vocal samples (90s R&B) and warm keys (prog rock Rhodes) enter. After the original's brisk five minutes, the legendary Richard Sen—graffiti guy, breaks guy, house guy, disco guy, half-of-Padded-Cell guy—steps in to give it a trance-y tinge while doubling its runtime and adding a dancefloor-destroying Hi-NRG coloration.

The B begins with 'Naha Swim,' a crunchy funk foot-stomper that might as well be an unreleased Idjut Boys or Ray Mang ditty dug up from the Noid catacombs. Fiery and furious, yet utterly cheeky. Serving as a sort of coda to 'Naha' is 'Kiss of a Kind,' a Gerus take on 80s adult contemporary, replete with sleazy sax and sensual pads. A gentle nightcap to a zigzagging, antic 12-inch.

In the follow up to his Doornroosje EP released back in October last year - Aus continue on form in 2017 and present another solo EP from label mainstay Marquis Hawkes. Having been brought into the fold on 2015, the Berlin based artist has consistently utilised Aus to outlet his more soulful and stripped productions. His previous work has comprised fun, sample-heavy tracks designed with nothing but the dance floor in mind and his latest 12 'Sweet Temptation' expands on this bringing melody, rhythm and chords to the foreground. Jubilant, powerful vocal lines and stony drums are the core ingredients and their melding results in a collection of 4 tracks of varying moods and intensities. While 'Burning Light' and 'Sweet Temptation' pack a certain big-room punch, 'Eivissa' and 'Zapper Bluesky' carry depth and soul in a manner that recalls a classic and cherished Hawkes sound. Now 5 releases deep with Aus Music - Marquis Hawkes continue to demonstrate why he is a regular and esteemed member of the roster.

Music For Dreams are on a roll in 2016, and this new signing from Chile is no exception. Behind the name Estancia La Mar is a trio of some of the most sought after names on the Chilean music scene. Mario Martinez is maybe the most well-known on the international club circuit with his quirky and fresh take on house under the alias Motivado, also head of electronic label Discos Pegaos and an acclaimed DJ. Pablo Munoz produces music for adverts and TV in addition to sound engineering and producing for some of Chile's alternative pop acts via his Janeiros Studios. The third name is perhaps the most unlikely of the three, Juan Pablo Abalo, who mainly writes and arranges classical music for orchestras and ensembles, but is also one half of acclaimed electronic pop duo Los Días Contados.
This album "Sesiones de Panamá" was born from a live session in Janeiros Studio, and that freeform live attitude is clearly evident in the resulting music. Throughout the six long tracks of the album, the trio build up progressive atmospheric pieces of genre-defying instrumental music that sits comfortably on rhythmic patterns reminiscent of house. As if Pink Floyd had made a Balearic house record in the mid 90s, they forge a crisp soundscape with space for experimentation.
At the centre of their musical expression is the clear influence of their hometown Santiago and its surrounding nature, evident in titles like "El Pacífico Mexicano", "Botavara" and "Isla Margarita". Opening track "Botavara" rolls in on a gentle breeze of tropical percussion and floats along on a carpet of new age synthesizers. The epic "La Casa Del Torrero" starts with a shuffling beat and dreamy xylophone melody, before tripping out into a full 11-minute long cosmic synth and percussion jam. The South American feel comes stronger on "El Pacifico Mexicano" with chattery polyrhythms carving out a groove along massive waves of ambience - the transcendental music of Manuel Göttsching comes to mind. With "Isla Margarita" we get the featherlight feel of a Wally Badarou production that recent deep house producers have been trying their best to emulate. For the Estancia trio this comes as no struggle, and across a stunning 10 minutes they make that sound their own. On "Terminos & Condiciones" we find the the trio at their quirkiest. Using a long sample of a telephone conversation between an airline customer service agent and a very angry and confused customer, we are led into an uncomfortable contemplation of life's stressful situations. Closing track "Polaris" ups the tempo considerably and delivers the album's most dancefloor-friendly track. Relying on a heavy kick with a smattering of hi-hats, the echoing piano chords send us into a blissful revision of 90s' deep house that is constantly building in momentum. Jacques Greene crafted a musical blueprint that inspired a generation who were raised on and looked to bring together the intersection of contemporary music growing up in the 90s: hip hop, RnB, house and techno.
At its heart, 'Feel Infinite' is a world of music connected to the utopian idea of club culture - music about the club, rather than specifically club music in and of itself. Written over the course of two years, this debut album is the purest, most personal expression of the Jacques Greene sound and emotion created by the born and raised Montreal artist, renowned for collaborating and remixing Tinashe, Radiohead, Sampha and Shlohmo.

Born and raised in Newcastle in the UK, Man Power is now embedded in the depths of Mexico in Monterrey, a city on the rise after many years of internal strife.
This unique new perspective and observations while on the road as a touring DJ has given Man Power the impetus to launch his new label entitled Me Me Me with his own production 'Tachyon' paired with a remix from DJ Tennis.
'It stands to reason that if I'm calling my new label project Me Me Me, then I should be the one doing the talking. Deejaying has to contain a bit of selfishness, as it's all about playing the music that you love, and other people listening. It's a simple step to go from choosing the music in a club, to choosing music for a record label.' 'There currently seems to be a movement of artists forming who are indefinable past the vague limits of their own persona and varied musical mores. I'd like to think I'm part of this movement, so this is my attempt at exploring that concept. I'm trying to work with people who also represent this new popularity in artistic freedom.'
Following releases will feature Axel Boman, Red Axes, Mike Simmonetti, Chida, Fort Romeau, Hammer, Rex The Dog, Daniel Maloso, Last Waltz, James Hadfield (as Elizabeth Collective) and of course Man Power.

Something in my self deprecating north eastern English mentality makes me feel incredibly big headed for deciding to start my own label. Like who do I think I am So it's me embracing that I guess.'

Man Power has risen to prominence over the past few years through a beguiling versatility that is eminent in both his DJ and production style, leading to key releases on ESP Institute, John Talabot's Hivern Discs, Permanant Vacaction and Throne of Blood. He currently holds residencies at the esteemed Topaz Deluxe in his new station of Monterrey and at the equally chic MN Roy of Mexico City and his critically acclaimed 2015 album on Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant led to his title as one of XLR8R's Artists of the Year.

Fresh off a few well received and highly sought after releases on Omega Supreme Records (cheapest copy of Hyperion' is $60 right now on Discogs, just saying), Stockholm's Sasac returns with an elegant summertime jam. Talking God' is delicate morning music. From the opening notes you know you are in for something special. Think fresh squeezed orange juice, sunshine pouring in through open windows, the bridge between the waking world and that chaise lounge on the beach with your name on it. Let the sound wash over you like crystal blue waters and Visions of paradise. Sasac is Karl Nordin, one of those bright young people you read about in the newspaper. With only a few releases under his belt, he is a bright talent and essential member of the new wave of Swedish producers like Prins Emanuel and Golden Ivy.
As for the remixes, Eddie C (Endless Flight/Crue-L Records) buckles the track into his spaceship for a trip to the cosmos, but is forced to make an emergency stop in Ibiza.
With a buildup reminiscent of Amnesia (circa 1990) and guitar loops for days, the programming takes you to another planet. It is perfect for rooftop parties and garden soirees. Under the roof or under the stars, this mix is for dancing. Alex Israel (Creme Organization/Stilllove4music) left the masters locked up in his
Detroit basement and unearthed this subtle juno jam a year later. He washed off the mold and was left with a haunting, reimagined composition with warm keys and light acid. A creepy early night/late morning monster. Before heading home, Bendek (Peoples Potential Unlimited) invites the track to LA for a dip in his yakuza jacuzzi. The funk won't stop as you relax in the bubbles sipping shochu with lime. Claussell's flute, Satriani's guitar, and Dre's 808 are just on the patio. Try not to get them wet.
On chunky 180 gram vinyl and mastered by the prolific Dieter Schoenemann, this EP is worth the wait.

Tunnel Signs is the nom de plume of Australian born lover, fighter and romantic, Ash Moses. With a taste for playing and producing records that embrace the darkness, Moses parts the sea and finds the wonky middle ground between reverb drenched postpunk, hypnotic techno and spaced out disco. Having previously seen releases on labels such as Nein, Clouded Vision and HAKT he now finds a home with Cutters Records with this 12' with Will Buck.
The release, titled 'Spirits' came into existence when Ash relocated to New York City, a place he had long dreamed of from afar. As luck would have it he found himself sharing an apartment with another likeminded electronic musician named Will Buck who became his studio-partner and eventual collaborator. Having bonded over a shared love of synthesizers, drum machines and all things rhythm they soon began their own freeform jam sessions which paved the way for this 12' release.
'Spirits' shares some of the slow hypnotic swagger and dark disco drone of Red Axes and Multi Culti but with a futuristic percussive palette of the likes of Four Tet. The heady modulated elastic synth sounds give way to deep undulating bass patterns and tribal percussion. On the flip, the lights get turned out and the acid turned up with an ominous Techno rework courtesy of Hivern Disc's own Marc Piñol.

RNT is back with a double-pack of disco delight from an unsung hero of the edit game, Chicago's Underdog Edits aka Leonard Part Sixx. With 4 tracks spread over 4 luxurious sides, sourcing material both familiar and obscure, this release is an education on how to craft the perfect extended DJ version. Limited release!

Marcel Vogel has decided to celebrate the first five years of his edit-heavy Lumberjacks In Hell imprint in the only way he knows how: by putting together a sumptuous double-pack stuffed with fresh new material. In keeping with the way the label has developed in recent times, the eight tracks blend the boundaries between original productions, illicit remixes and straight re-edits. There's a celebratory, life-affirming feel throughout, from the rubbery bass, D-Train synths and rolling house grooves of Giovanni Damico's "The Break Down", to the bluesy deep house brilliance of Borrowed Identity's "Queens Bridge". Highlights are plentiful elsewhere, too, from the hustlin' electrofunk-meets-disco of Vogel's own "Come On", to the killer synth solos and fuzzy bits of Tim Jules' thrilling "Slap Beat".

More of a cultural artifact than an album in the traditional sense, Osunlade's'Pyrography' first materialised in 2011, intended to mark the closing chapter in his House music journey, the start of a new creative phase. Titled after the ancient artistic practice of burning an image onto a surface, everything about 'Pyrography' implied both ritual and permanence. A few signed, ultralimited edition CD copies of the album were accompanied by a specially
commissioned art book, with original works by highly regarded Australian artist Scott Marr and a series of 'oriki' prayers appearing in print for the first time ever. In 2017, BBE are proud to team up with the mercurial DJ, producer and ordained Yoruba priest Osunlade to make this incredible work of art available on vinyl for the first time. Two heavyweight 12' records
nestle in the front and back covers of a lovingly printed book containing a brief history of the Yoruba culture, Scott Marr's evocative images and those all-important traditional oriki prayers by Maria Oggun Bemi. Placed at the meeting point of art, culture, history, music and spirituality, Pyrography simply cannot be described or compared, much like the ritual Anagó language the project celebrates.

It's sublime, it's soft, and it wants you to fall in love, at night, back in the days, under the electric light of your favourite dancefloor, with two major jams on the A-side, and a consciousness-altering, life-changing, dance floor destroying, 13-minute disco trip on the other. Disco Bits return with more edits aimed straight at late night disco dancefloors.This time around the Disco Bits team have unearthed, polished and refined a slept on British Disco Holy Grail classic. Love Me Love Me was originally recorded by True Feelings 1981 and was the only release on UK label Amber recordings.This is its first release as a single.
The track oozes uptempo positive vibes with rolling drums, uplifting vocals and guitar with incredible keyboard vamps and chord progression.
This time around the Disco Bits team have enlisted cut n paste wizard Disco Dave on editing duties.
The results are a Disco Edit on one side that distils the best elements of the original track into a 3 and a half minute wonder.

Renowned house and techno producer Mr. G joins the No Idea's Original roster with four typically powerful house cuts this January. Hot on the heels of his fifth album, not to mention a year releasing on Bass Culture, Relative, Warm Sounds, Midnight Shift and Defected - Colin McBean is a producer that needs little introduction. Leading the way, 'Can't Stop' sees Mr. G merge an infectious vocal with rumbling bass, raw drums and a murky oscillating synth before '4am NYC Download (TS Version)' introduces a subtle melody as a cacophony of hats join a distorted soulful vox. Crunchy percussion and a moody hook then form 'Make Me Mad' before concluding the package with a twisted reimagining titled 'Make Me Dub!'

Hot on the heels of the co-release between Especial and Cocktails d'Amore Music of the Sfire Remixes EP (EES023/CDA013) comes an accompanying release with a pair of deeper, stripped back remixes from the inimitable Timothy J Fairplay and Willie Burns. Well known as producers, DJs and label managers with their Crimes Of The Future and WT Records respectively, as well as appearing on a who's who of electronic labels including Pinkman, Unknown To The Unknown and L.I.E.S, they have appeared in various guises on both Emotional Response and Especial. Here then are 4 remixes - 2 each per side - that take the unique original to new dance floor extremes. Timothy steps up first with his take on Sfire 2 via differing vocal and instrumental versions. His trademark, echo laden rolling percussion and "Carpenter" key lines take the original Synth-pop homage to the dark room. Adding Arps, a lifting, hedonistic breakdown and the scatter-stepper drums and claps found on the Instrumental version and this is pure COTF territory and the better for it. Willie meanwhile has long followed his own path for his take on Sfire 3, offering one of his deepest remixes to date. Thudding kick, brooding pads and dark strings force the vocals to go down, way down for examination. The distorted vocals of Remix 1 are countered by Remix 2 letting the track shine via a seemingly endless 4/4 beat. Psychedelic, trance inducing, pulsating, this is an ever growing mind expanse.Presented in sparse Hand Stamped sleeves, this one off Limited Edition pressing is a unique EP, taking Sfire to a different sphere that warrants investigation. Detroit's Brainstorm have achieved cult status as a group among underground Disco, Soul and Boogie aficionados worldwide. "Hot for you" lifted from their 3rd LP from 1979 has always been a huge record for the more discerning Disco jocks, those who like to dig a little deeper to find the gems. A real dancefloor burner that found favour with everyone from Larry Levan to Daniele Baldelli after it's original release. The same can be said for "Journey to the light", another anthemic slice of midtempo Michigan Soul that was hugely popular in London on it's infamous "Rare Groove" scene, pirate radio stations and beyond. Lifted from the bands second LP and oozing class "Journey..." is a stellar cut, truly essential!
Both of these tracks on one 12" already make this an essential release for any real Soul head, but the fact that the versions featured here are private re-edits from one of the true masters of the game's private vaults makes it utterly unmissable.
Yes, that's right - Danny Krivit, Disco royalty, a true pioneer and re-edit trailblazer adding his unique touch to these incredible pieces of music make this a particularly hot biscuit. Danny has kindly opened up his archive and in conjunction with Tabu / Demon music group brings us these amazing reworkings. It is within this world that the For Discos Only label operates, sourcing the finest underground edits and mixes for the Discotheques. Already a formidable talent behind the decks across the world and widely known through his releases on London's Wolf Music label, he tackles some choice cuts from the mighty TK Disco catalogue and delivers a 4 track EP of remixed tracks and edits utilising various parts, breaks and sounds from a plethora of classic and obscure TK related music. You may find yourself recognising elements of the tracks, but you haven't heard them like this before. Medlar has gone deep into the music and crafted something brand new from cuts that are almost 40 years old through some very clever rearranging and the addition of analogue synths and fresh, contemporary production methods. This whole EP was conceived and recorded across 7 days spent on Reunion Island in the Indian ocean, off the coast of Madagascar.

Roman Flügel and Andrew Weatherall supply two outstanding remixes of Phil Kieran recent album 'Blinded By The Sun', which David Holmes claimed is 'one of the best electronic dance inspired records in recent times.'
Mixmag described Phil Kieran as 'one of those producers that impresses with every release' so it comes as no surprise that two music heavyweights have jumped on board for remix duty. Kieran accounts Flügel and Weatherall to both having a heavy influence on his career. German DJ and producer Roman Flügel is easily one of the most revered names in the dance music spectrum. His take on 'No Life' is a masterclass in production. Flügel has created a track that is powerful whilst also superbly intricate. Flügel holds over twenty years of experience, extensively releasing on a number of labels whilst also co-founding Ongaku, Klang and Playhouse Recordings.
UK born DJ and producer maestro Andrew Weatherall remixes 'Finds Love' and reminds the listener of how beautiful electronic music can be. Combining cosmic layers with the ethereal vocal, this is a lesson in what a remix means. Weatherall has been experimenting with techno since the 90s, and well regarded as one of the world's most influential DJs.
Kieran created a ten track narrative in 'Blinded By The Sun', inspired by his experiences in the industry. It was met with high acclaim globally and this remix package further imprints his vision on pioneering imprint Hot Creations.

Following the reissue of the entire recorded output of South London-based experimental act This Heat and its successor, Camberwell Now, Modern Classics Recordings holds the lens up to a special split album created by one of the driving forces behind those groups - drummer Charles Hayward - in collaboration with Italian musician Gigi Masin, whose looping, rhythmic, electronic compositions have seen his cult following grow in his four decades as a recording artist. TIP!!Originally released on Belgium's Sub Rosa label in 1989, Les Nouvelles Musiques De Chambre Volume 2 is a split LP on which Masin's eight tracks occupy side A and Charles Hayward's long-form piece (at 21 minutes long), "Thames Water Authority', occupies side B. Geography may have separated the two artists, who each recorded their pieces in isolation from the other, but there's a commonality to their approach. Previously, Masin had released the inspired 1986 album Wind, while Hayward's music had long been influenced by the landscape and society of London and the UK.For this album, the label challenged the two musicians to write about the waterways of their respective cities, Venice and London. For Masin, that meant describing the human interactions related to the Italian city's famous landmarks. 'Places, faces, memories... that's what most of the people love to find when they travel to Venice - some kind of magic that's deep in the city,' he writes in the new liner notes accompanying this new re-release.
For Hayward, it meant describing the physicality of water, the 'densities and energies' as he puts it, and the politics of it too. Writes Hayward: 'Water was being privatized at the time, the profit margin had been factored in, cost-cutting was implicit, people were being poisoned. Water was a political thing; it still is.

Re-discovered island disco masterpiece by the Trinidadian Quincy Jones. 'What You Won't Do For Love' was DJ Harvey's end-of-the-nighter for his long awaited tour of Europe last year. Both sides are previously unreleased extended versions of these tropical gems re-mastered from the original tapes. Officially licensed, limited edition.....
