DJ Spoko was born Marvin Ramalepe, raised in the rural town of Tzaneen in northern South Africa, where he says "there was no first or third class—all the same." He started producing on a PC at age 12, after moving with his brother Kelly Rams Ramalepe to Atteridgeville, a 99%-black township outside the mostly white city of Pretoria - to find their father. They lived in an area called Ghost Town, near Atteridgeville's cemetery, where as the neighborhood's premiere producer, young Spoko earned the nickname Ghost. The title of his new Ghost Town EP—Spoko's first release in the West, via True Panther—neatly bundles both the man and the place, and serves as an introduction to the raw sound of Bacardi House, the genre he invented that now rules over the clubs of Atteridgeville. Bacardi House has been fermenting for a decade. For three years in the early 2000s, DJ Spoko traveled 40 miles south to Soweto, where he studied sound engineering in the studio of Nozinja, creator of the hyper-speed, hip-shaking Shangaan Electro style. After, when Spoko built his own studio back home, he took a producer named DJ Mujava under his wing, leading to Spoko's great but uncredited triumph, as the percussion mastermind behind Mujava's Bacardi House indebted "Township Funk." His sound consumed the township, passed around on numerous full- length cassette releases with names like Grave Yard Session, The All C'Ing I, and Tombs & Graves. On Ghost Town, Spoko pushes that sound's simple yet ear-worming "space" synths, raw kicks and punishing military snares even further. Ghost Town is party music, sure, but there's a stern and harsh reality, too. Guest vocals by Spoko's Ghetto Boyz Entertainment crew address the warnings of forefathers, the violence of township life, and the rural world Spoko left behind. It's the electrified sound of a country boy taking over his township. And next, maybe, the world.

Yelle was at Pitti W for Maison Kitsuné's fashion show (Florence, Italy) on January 10, the perfect occasion for her to present for the first time her new beautiful song ' L'Amour Parfait'! Produced by GrandMarnier and Aeroplane, the track is held by Yelle's unique and hypnotic voice and a dark and persistent beat that reminds us of the 1980's electro pop.
After releasing the highly praised album 'Safari Disco Club' in March 2011, Yelle is back with the single « L'Amour Parfait », her third collaboration with Kitsuné, after « La Musique » and « A cause des garçons ».
Out on March 18th, the EP contains excellent remixes of « L'amour Parfait » by Baadman, the very young and impressive 17 years old french dj, Sticky K, The Phantom and Ruben Mandolini who offers us a housey version of the song.

Kavinsky is back with a first and long-awaited album, OutRun, available on February 25th. But before that, here is the first single, ProtoVision!

Red Sky Mix feat. STS (vinyl exclusive)
It was no easy job to tackle this epic instrumental. When he heard Sugar Tongue Slim's version of Nightcall last summer, Kavinsky knew he had found the man who could turn Protovision into gold. After burning up the underground rap scene for several years, STS is now one of the fastest rising artists around. He gave a big blow with this one and literally took Protovision to another dimension.

Boys Noize remix
Berlin's notorious producer put his hands on Protovision and turned it in into a nervous and elegant club hit. Get ready to rave on that sweaty bass and dark beat. 'If it's too loud, you're too old', they said

Blood Orange remix
Between producing tomorrow's pop talents (Solange, Sky Ferreira, Theophilus London) and working on his solo project Blood Orange, England's talent of note Devonté Hynes took the time to add his very own touch to Kavinsky's new release. Giving a fresh and girly feel to the original track, he delightfully transformed it into a groovy pop ballad.

Sébastien Tellier Version (vinyl exclusive)
Taste and simplicity is what it took to Tellier to create this version of Protovision ; highlighting hypnotic strings and heroic guitars, the French maestro offered a timeless reinterpetation of the original.
