Airual is the new record label by Mario Lauriano a passionate Italian expat living in Berlin for almost a decade. Deeply influenced by the House music played in the clubs of Neaples in the late 90s, he has
always loved vinyl and intimately pursued an extensive knowledge of analogue and digital hardware.

“Dubra Tape” and “Philatrop Philosp” are two hefty gems of devotion to the true dub Techno sound of the German capital, enriched by a contemporary taste for Elektron’s spectral qualities. Nobody better
than Dj Pete a.k.a . Substance could rework “Dubra Tape” with his majestic sub basses and equisite sprinkled chords. Finally, The Analogue Cops transform “Philantrop Philosop” into an Infinitesque
quick paced tribute to the Motor City pioneers of electronic dance music.

Copenhagen’s Echocord returns with a long player from Mathimidori this October, entitled the ‘Akebono’ LP and comprised on ten original compositions. Mathimidori, better know by most as Mathias Kaden has been using this alias as a way to showcase his take on dub-leaning, minimalistic and refined Techno via labels such as Dorian Paic’s Raum Musik, Tokyo’s Mule Musiq and Berlin’s Ornaments. Here though we see deliver his debut long player under the guise, and fittingly the LP will be released via esteemed Dub Techno imprint Echocord, home to releases from the likes of STL, Deepchord, Fluxion, XDB and Forest Drive West. Across the ‘Akebono’ album Mathimidori delivers hazy, spaced out instrumentals like ‘Maiia’, ‘Ork’ and ‘Soso’ while tracks like ‘Asaka’ and ‘Shao’ offer a darker approach. The project also welcomes an assortment of collaborations such as opening track ‘Java’ alongside Spain’s Pulshar, ‘Kioku’ featuring Japanese artist Tomomi Ukumori and ‘Kobe’ with Germany’s Rhauder which all lean towards downtempo dub territories. Also featured are Sakura who provides spoken word vocals for ‘Akebono’ and Shoco who joins Mathimidori for the ambient leaning album conclusion ‘Akari’.

Versatile presents a series of remixes of tracks from Head Voices, the late long format from Ariel Kalma & Gilbert Cohen: through dub manipulations, downtempo lazy atmospheres or electronic profusion of bleeps and kicks, each one opens a new interpretation of this crossover project. On A Side, Australian producer Leo James turned indeed « De Luscious » into an epic 12 minutes monster dub version, in the vein of Moritz von Oswald & Mark Ernestus’ Rhythm & Sound. On The flip, Canadian producer Priori who recently released the great On A Nimbus, gives here a deeper and minimal interpretation of « Tu Ne Peux Pas Savoir ». Finally, Versatile’s boss Gilb’R remixes an exclusive version of « Tribu Sauvage », previously only released on digital.

Renowned Jazz musician Ulf Kleiner lands on Ian Pooley’s Pooled Music this April with ‘Tubes’Grande’ featuring three remixes from the label boss.

A long term collaborator of Pooley, lending rich keyboard work to the legendary producer’s records over the years, Ulf Kleiner is better known outside of electronic music. Taken from his 2020 LP, ‘Pianoskop’, ’Tubes Grande’ is a light but immersive piece of acoustic modern Jazz that, at just 3.36 minutes, begs repeat listens. Pooley’s interpretations, a ‘Main Version’, ‘Dub’ and ‘Analog Piano Dub Mix’ lead Kleiner’s work to the dancefloor in distinct ways, showing off the producers deft touch and studio experience across the package. From the decidedly organic, mid-paced house of the ‘Analog Piano Dub’ to the dense, electronic melodies of the ‘Main Version’ to the blissed out ‘Ian Pooley Dub’ this Pooley in the form of his career.

Two versions of the title track come on the A side. The original is an easy track, light percussive with thin strings and saxophone. 'Hushees' on the same side is a remix from the original and has a more straightforward beat and prominent bassline. The flip sees a remix by the Koomba project ( Reggie Dokes and Scott Ferguson). We have been dropping both tracks in every set, and boy, they go down so well and sound great on any system, even in the most remote corners of our galaxy. The cosmic energy they release is stunning! Trainspotters are lining up regularly near our decks but we have anonymized the tracks (PIS15.1, PIS15.2) so no one knows it is the forthcoming mountain people. Gosh, they have taken their time but once again it was worth the wait. Looking forward to playing these deep bass monsters many more times.”

Greville translates the deft drum programming and atmospherics of their previous work on Mad Habitat into a dextrous downtempo odyssey. The tracks pair woody percussion with crystalline pads and figurative sounds that evoke their own biospheres; listen to the woodland motorik of “Marbles” or swingbeat syncopation and coruscating arps of “Time”. The depth of production here is best exemplified by “Night Light” where the “Ambient Mix” strips the track down the dreamy chords and the asynchronous twitter and chirrups of a synthesized bushland - and like the EP altogether, it's a curious sonification of Australia in the summer.

Never satisfied with following the status quo, Ukrainian imprint Modeight is back with their 7th release, full of inspiring and experimental sounds.This installment falls to Romanian artists Paul K & Incolor, who combine sonic forces on the stunning "Policolor" EP.

Each producer serve up a signature cuts of their own design, with Incolor opening proceedings with "Dacia1300 Goes In Space", a low slung, slow burning groove that glides with effortless grace. It's meandering atmospheric tones eliciting a positively out of body feeling.

Next up Paul K delivers a rhythmically fluid roller in "Shadowing", a cut that's peppered with warped glitches and bleepy artefacts. Its textured, organic feel captures you instantly, folding you into its insatiable groove.

The real cherry however appears on the B-side, as both talents meld their respective sounds to form the darkly skewed long-player "Kalor". A sub fuelled bass line drives a heavy set minimalist beat. Gritty electronics fizz and pop creating a wickedly dissonant atmosphere, as rasped vocals interject throughout.

This next release from Modeight will certainly prick ears on global dance floors, proving once again that the label is pushing the boundaries of minimal techno into unknown territory.

For his electronic compositions MARTIN MERZ isn’t only fishing in technowaters as he also lets his listeners glide through ambient landscapes which transform into pumping organic shapes of groove and synth melodies.
It’s those bubbly basslines making love to space-filling spheric sounds and tribal drums that turn everything into a timeless and dancy work of art.
